THE TPMS SYSTEM HAS FAILED. 3 OF 4 TIRES SHOW A PRESSURE BUT IS NOT ACCURATE, SEEMS TO BE FROZEN ON A PRIOR PRESSURE READING. 4TH TIRE POSITION SHOWS "- -". RECENTLY HAD A NAIL IN TIRE THAT CAUSED DEFLATION. DRIVER DID NOT NOTICE SEVERELY UNDER INFLATED TIRE CAUSING POOR HANDLING AND INCREASED RISK OF ACCIDENT. PASSERBY NOTIFIED DRIVER OF LOW TIRE PRESSURE CONDITION. SUBJECT VEHICLE ALSO HAS FAILED BLUETOOTH MODULE WHICH MAY BE RELATED? VEHICLE HAS ALSO BEEN TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR CHARGING SYSTEM, BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH SUBJECT VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN CURRENT RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR SAME ISSUES. IS THERE A CORRELATION BETWEEN OVERCHARGING CONDITION AND FAILING MODULES?
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON BY THEM SELF OUT OF NOWHERE NO IT WAS NOT RAINING AND STAYED ON WILL NOT GO OFF BY USING THE PROPER SWITCH
ON AUGUST 18, 2017, I STARTED MY 2013 DODGE CHARGER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE UCONNET SYSTEM WAS NO LONGER WORKING. MY HANDS FREE SYSTEM COULD NO LONGER BE CONNECTED. AFTER CONTACTING UCONNECT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BLUETOOTH MODULE HAD STOPPED WORKING. THIS IS A PROBLEM WHEN YOU ARE CONSTANTLY IN YOUR VEHICLE FOR WORK PURPOSES AND DEPEND ON THE HANDS FREE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO FLASH AND THE "PARKING BRAKE DISABLED" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TALLAHASSEE DODGE/JEEP/CHRYSLER IN TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA APPROXIMATELY FIVE TIMES WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED AND IT WAS REPLACED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,859.
RADIATOR KEEPS GOING OUT CAUSING VEHICLE TO RUN TEMPERATURE
IF THE ALTERNATOR FAILS, THE VEHICLE STALL WITHOUT WARNING, TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND BEEN TOLD THAT RECALL P60 IS ONLY FOR 160 AM ALTERNATOR AND MY IS 180 BUT THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN TO MY CAR.
MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL NOT TURN OF WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNINGF. THEY CANNOT BE ADJUSTED AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SPRAY DOESN'T WORK EITHER.
ALTERNATOR BAD IN CAR NEED TO EXPAND RECALL LIST ON VIN NUMBER. CAR START SMELLING LIKE BURNING THEN DIED ON HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF DUSTY COLLISION POCOLA OK. DUSTY OWNER OF BUSINESS AND LICENSE AUTO REPAIR PLACE STATED MY ALTERNATOR WAS BAD. THAT ME AND MY DOWN SYNDROME SON WAS LUCKY.
THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING ABS, POWER STEERING, ELECTRONIC STABILITY AND DASHBOARD GAUGES, AS WELL AS AC AND RADIO, SUDDENLY CUT OUT DURING DRIVING. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY THE ALTERNATOR CATCHING FIRE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET (IN MOTION). THE FIRE WAS QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED WITH A BOTTLE OF WATER, BUT SOME PLASTIC/WIRING WAS BURNED.
I'M SORRY BUT THE THE CHECKLIST THAT FOR THE DEFECTIVE ITEMS ON THE VEHICLE AND YOU GUYS WERE ASKING WHAT DEFECTIVE ITEMS DO YOU HAVE AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME CHECK MARK THE BOXES HIM BUT PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE ON THAT SCREEN IS WRONG WITH MY CAR IT HAS BROKE DOWN LOST POWER ALL POWER I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE I HAD CARBON MONOXIDE A POISON AND I'M GETTING MY BLOOD WORK RIGHT NOW AS WE SPEAK AND I JUST DISUSED THIS ISSUE WITH ONE OF THE REPRESENTATIVES THERE AND I FEEL LIKE THIS CAR IS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE BECAUSE IT'S BEEN OVERHEATING SO I DON'T THINK IT'S REAL SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE IT AND TAKE IT TO THE SHOP YESTERDAY AND THEY TOLD ME COME BACK TODAY SO IT'S RUNNING AROUND AND IS BUYING PARTS FOR HIS CAR AND IT'S HIRING SOMEBODY TO INSTALL IT YOU KNOW HIM BUT NOTHING MAJOR A CERTIFIED MECHANIC HAS TO DO IT AND MY ENGINE IT IT'S IT'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT MY EMISSIONS NEVER BEEN DONE THE SMOG HAS NEVER BEEN DONE IT'S KEEPING MILES AND ALSO THE SUSPENSION IIS NOT STABLE, THESE CORROSION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF ITS ON THE TOP ROOF TOWARDS THE FRONT WINDOW. ALSO THE SUSPENSION IS SQUEKING AND ROCKING BACK AND FORTH WHICH IT'S N THE REAR END OF THE CAR... ALSO IT'S GETTING 11MPG 9MPG CITY IT'S NOT CORRECT IT SHOULD GET 20MPG IN CITY I DRIVE WITH CASTION IS GETTING ABOUT 9 TO 10 MILES A GALLON IN THE CITY AND THAT'S NOT RIGHT I'M DOING IT BY CALCULATING BECAUSE I DON'T THIS THIS CLUSTER WORKS .... WHEN DRIVING I COULD HEAR A NOISE WHICH I THOUGHT WAS THE TRANSMISSION THEM I COULD SMELL A FAINT SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC. THEN THE BATTERY SAVER LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. NEVER MADE IT. GOT ABOUT 2 MILES AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THE BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE ON THEIR ON THEIR OWN FINALLY THE CAR STARTED TO STALL AND COASTED TO A STOP. WHEN STOPPED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE RUNNING SLOWLY. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO DEALER AT MY COST. THEY SAID ALTERNATOR WAS BURNED UP AND IT ALSO BURNED UP THE BATTERY. EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL PAY FOR ALTERNATOR BUT NOT THE BATTERY. CAR HAS 43000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A WHINING NOISE AND THE ABS, TRACTION, AND BATTERY SAVER INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED. WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PARKED, EXITED THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE HOOD, AND SAW SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER (LARRY H. MILLER DODGE RAM HAVANA, 2727 S HAVANA ST, DENVER, CO 80014 (720) 907-1243) TO INQUIRE ABOUT AN ALTERNATOR RECALL BECAUSE HIS PREVIOUS DODGE CHARGER WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,900.
THE CAR WAS SHUT DOWN FOR 1 1/2 HOURS AND SITTING IN A PARKING LOT WITH NOTHING RUNNING OR ON. WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED AS NORMAL, THERE WAS AN ODD SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I POPPED THE HOOD AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. I SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND BLACK SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. I HEARD POPPING AND SIZZLING COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR.
MY 2013 DODGE CHARGER'S DOOR HANDLE OPEN AND STAYS IN THE UP POSITION AND YOU HAVE TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE TO GET THE DOOR OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION AND UPON TRYING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE THE HANDLE LIFTED AND WAS STUCK IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR. IT HAS NOT LATCHED SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT AND THE DOOR HAS TO BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. IT IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE.
FOR SOME REASON NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I REPLACE IT, THE FRONT FUSE FOR THE A.C. WHERE THE ENGINE IS LOCATED KEEPS GETTING SOMETHING BURNED ON THE SIDE OF IT CAUSING MY A.C. TO STOP BLOWING COOL AIR. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR NOT. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT OWN THIS TYPE OF CAR HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION CHRYSLER (LOCATED AT 23820 CREEKSIDE RD, VALENCIA, CA 91355) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM WAS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE SCANNER. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY NEEDED MORE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE SERVICE ADVISER DEPARTMENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,540.
THE WAS A RECALL ISSUE FIXED ON MY VEHICLE SOMETIME LAST YEAR WHERE IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN, THEY WENT INTO MY DASH AND/OR REMOVED THE DASH. ALSO THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF. SINCE THEN, I'VE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE CLICKING/KNOCKING WHERE THE AIRBAG WOULD BE LOCATED AND THE AIR BAGS LIGHT IS ON AND OFF VERY FREQUENTLY AS WELL. IF I HIT A BUMP ON THE SIDE WHERE THE CLICKING OCCURS, THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL COME ON. NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE RECALL THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IN THE PAST, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO CLICKING/KNOCKING IN THE DASHBOARD PRIOR TO THE FIX, ONLY AIRBAG LIGHT. I JUST DON'T WANT IT TO BE AN AIRBAG ISSUE OR IT DEPLOYS WHILE I'M DRIVING. NOT ABLE TO PUT IN AN EXACT DATE BECAUSE IT HAPPENS EVERYDAY, SO ONLY ENTERED TODAY'S DATE.
I WAS DRIVING FROM TULSA TO JOPLIN WHEN THE BATTERY SAVER LIGHT CAME ON. SHORTLY AFTER I LOST ALL DIGITAL GAUGES AND POWER STEERING. CAR SHUT OFF AND BECAME HARD TO CONTROL. I WAS IN LEFT LANE ON INTERSTATE WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS IN THE RIGHT LANE, CAR SLOWED TO AROUND 10 MILES AN HOUR AS I TRIED TO GET ACROSS RIGHT LANE ONTO SHOULDER. CAR IN RIGHT LANE WOULD NOT MOVE AND ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT. WAS ABLE TO GET CAR TO SHOULDER. ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR FAILED AT 130,000 MILES. DODGE WANTED OVER 600 DOLLARS TO REPLACE AND SAID THE ORIGINAL RECALL DID NOT EFFECT MY MODEL. PURCHASED A SECOND ALTERNATOR FROM AUTOZONE BUT IT WAS DEAD OUT OF THE BOX. THIRD ALTERNATOR LASTED FROM SEPTEMBER 2016 TO JULY 2017. INSTALLED FOURTH ALTERNATOR ON 7/15/2017 BUT DIAGNOSTICS SHOWS THE REGULATOR IS FAILING. AUTOZONE IS TELLING ME THAT DODGE HAS OTHER ISSUES CAUSING FAILURE. PROBLEM I HAVE IS DODGE WOULD NOT REPLACE THE ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR AS IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL.
INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMING ON, HEATER TURNING ON, GAUGES BLINKING ON AND OFF, FAILURE TO START AND STALLING WHILE DRIVING. I ASSUMED THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD SO I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE VEHICLE DIED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BATTERY WAS FRIED AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. AS SOON AS A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED IT IMMEDIATELY FRIED THAT BATTERY AND THEY SAID THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS GENERATING HEAT AND BEGINNING TO SMOKE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE AND SENT IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. THIS PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER IS NOT UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL BUT ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS THE CAR WAS HAVING IS EXACTLY WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PART WAS TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA IT STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER. I EXITED THE VEHICLE NOTICING SMOKE RISING FROM UNDER MY HOOD. IT LOOKED LIKE MY ALTERNATOR IS WHAT WAS SMOKING AND PUTTING OUT A LOT OF HEAT. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES HOPING IT WOULD COOL DOWN. I NOTICED THE SMOKE WAS GETTING WORST AS WELL AS THE HEAT COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I THEN HEARD A CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. IT SOUNDED LIKE ELECTRICITY SNAPPING. I THEN DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND IMMEDIATELY THE SNAPPING STOPPED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 MORE MINS THE SMOKING STOPPED. I SAW THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR IN MY MAKE AND YEAR, BUT WHEN I TYPE IN MY VIN NUMBER IT DOESN'T SHOW THE RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. IVE REACHED OUT TO MY DODGE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME MY CAR DOESN'T HAVE THE RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR. COULD THEY HAVE MADE A MISTAKE?

FCA RECALL T36/NHTSA 17V-435 NOTIFIED SIX (6) MONTHS AGO REGARDING ALTERNATOR DIODE THERMAL FATIGUE WHICH MAY RESULT IN ALTERNATOR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSING A RISK OF CRASH. ALSO, MAY DEVELOP A RESISTIVE SHORT CIRCUIT THAT CAN RESULT IN HEAT, SMOKE AND/OR FIRE ORIGINATING WITHIN THE ALTERNATOR. AS OF 01/09/2018, I FORTUNATELY HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER STATES THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I AM OF THE OPINION THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING THE BATTERY SAVER MODE WARNING ILLUMINATED. WITHIN SECONDS THE CAR MADE A LOUD BOOM SOUND AND I COULD NOT PUT IT INTO PARK. I HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND KEEP TRYING TO GET THE CAR INTO GEAR. AS I WAS DOING THAT THE CAR WAS FLASHING TO BLANK SCREEN AND THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR TURNED OFF. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2013 DODGE CHARGER ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH THE DASH BOARD STARTED ACTING STRANGELY AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON. BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE BROUGHT TO A STOP IT LOST ALL POWER AND CONTROL INCLUDING THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SHORT IN THE ALTERNATOR THAT ALSO DEFECTED THE BATTERY. I WAS TOLD BY THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL THAT IDENTIFIES THESE SAME SYMPTOMS, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE I COULD DO GOING FORWARD WHEN I REQUESTED TO SPEAK WITH A CASE MANAGER INVESTIGATING THESE CASES.

ALSO, THERE WAS A STRANGE NOISE/"THUD" WHILE DRIVING WHENEVER THE "ECO" MODE WOULD ENGAGE. AFTER THE NOISE GOT INCREASINGLY WORSE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT THE LEFT REAR AXLE NUT WAS VERY LOOSE. ONCE THE NUT WAS TORQUED, THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. UNKNOWN CAUSE. VEHICLE IS IN GOOD CONDITION, WITH NO ACCIDENTS, AND JUST UNDER 30,000 MILES.

THE DENSO ALTERNATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE SMOKE WAS REAL BAD AND IT BURNT THE BATTERY UP THE BATTERY WAS SO HOT YOU COULD NOT GET IT OUT WITH YOUR BARE HANDS.ITS A DENSO 421000-7040 WITH A 180 AMP ALTERNATOR. THE CAR HAS 70,698 MILES ON IT.

THE ALTERNATOR DIODES EXPERIENCED A RAPID FAILURE RESULTING IN A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT 50MPH. LOW BATTERY INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND WITHIN 1-2 MINUTES LOST ALL CAR FUNCTIONS INCLUDING ANTILOCK BREAKING, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AND POWER STEERING. UPON COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, COULD NOT PUT THE CAR IN PARK. CAR EVENTUALLY RESET AND PUT ITSELF IN PARK. EXPERIENCED A BURNING/MELTING SMELL. HAD CAR BATTERY JUMPED AND CAR APPEARED FINE. RESUMED DRIVING, BUT EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE REPEAT OF EVENTS WITHIN JUST A FEW MINUTES. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN RECALL P60/ NHTSA 14V-634. UPON RESEARCHING ON THE WEB, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT MANY OTHERS WITH THE 180AMP ENGINE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE; HOWEVER, IT IS UNCLEAR AS TO WHY THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR THE 160AMP. I CAN ONLY PRESUME THAT IT IS BECAUSE THERE ARE LESS OF THE 180AMP ENGINES SOLD. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION!
WAS DRIVING DODGE CHARGER SXT ON THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND HEARD A WHINING NOISE. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON CONTROL PANEL WENT ON AND OFF AND THERE WAS A SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER. CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH MY PREGNANT WIFE AND 1 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR AND ALMOST CAUSE A MAJOR INCIDENT. CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY AND WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER, BUT LUCKILY CAUSED NO INCIDENT. DEALER SAID IT WAS A FAULTY ALTERNATOR ISSUE THAT COMPLETELY DRAINED BATTERY AS WELL. THERE IS A RECALL P60 ON ALTERNATORS FOR THE MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF THE DODGE CHALLENGER SXT, BUT OUR VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR INCIDENT. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A COINCIDENCE AND DODGE NEEDS TO ADD ADDITIONAL VEHICLE COVERAGE UNDER THIS RECALL BEFORE A MAJOR INCIDENT HAPPENS.

RUBBING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING, THOUGHT IT JUST NEEDED TO BE LUBED (HAD THAT DONE AT A NON FCA SERVICE SITE A FEW YEARS EARLIER) HAD IT AT THE DEALER A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID THE STEERING COLUMN TO RACK JOINT WAS WORN OUT AND ABOUT TO COME APART AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $2K IF IT HAD BEEN LEFT FURTHER, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED. IF THIS HAD COMPLETELY COME APART, IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN INABILITY TO STEER. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN INTERESTING TO SAY THE LEAST. OWNED THE CAR SINCE NEW, NOT ABUSED, RACED OR WRECKED. CALLED FCA, THEY SAID THAT THE DEFECTIVE JOINT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY HAD NO OTHER COMPLAINTS. THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AND SAID THAT SINCE IT HAD BEEN PAID, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST. HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS? WONDER IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION, A RECALL OR I JUST GOT A DEFECTIVE PART
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. ENTIRE CAR SHUT DOWN. GIVEN 8 SPEED ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFT, CAR LOCKED INTO PARK WHILE IN OPERATION. IT WAS JUST DETERMINED THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE WAS THE CAUSE OF THIS TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE. NO SUPPORT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
LOST STEERING AND ACCELERATION WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS OCCURRED WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE ENTERED "BATTERY SAVER MODE" AND DISPLAYED THE "BATTERY" ICON ON THE EVIC SCREEN. THIS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM, OTHER THAN THE RADIO NOT WORKING THAT DAY. AFTER PULLING OVER, WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, EXIT THE HIGHWAY, AND PULL INTO A SERVICE STATION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE INTO PARK, NOR WOULD THE CAR SHUT DOWN, UNTIL THE PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH WAS HELD DOWN FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. AN ELECTRICAL TEST REVEALED THAT THE ALTERNATOR HAD FAILED, AND THE BATTERY TESTED GOOD. BOTH THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY ARE THE ORIGINAL FACTORY-INSTALLED PARTS.

I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT DODGE MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REIMBURSEMENT ON A FAULTY ALTERNATOR. THE PART WAS ISSUED AS A RECALL (17V-435) ON 07-10-17. SINCE THEN I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT WITH NO SUCCESS. I'VE SPOKE WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM DODGE MULTIPLE TIMES ALL CLAIMING TO NOT HAVE RECEIVED MY DOCUMENTS. I'VE SUBMITTED THE VIA EMAIL, MAIL AND UPLOADED THEM TO THERE WEBSITE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 6 MONTHS NOW.
