NHTSA CAMPAIGN 04V596000; DAIMLER CHRYSLER ISSUED A UPPER BALL JOINT RECALL. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER HEARD A CLICKING NOISE AND EXPERIENCED SHAKING FROM THE UPPER BALL JOINT. THE VIN IS OUTSIDE THE REMEDY SCOPE. *JB THE CONSUMER WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE RESPONSE HE RECEIVED FROM NHTSA. THE CONSUMER REPLACED BOTH UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLIES BECAUSE THEY WERE DANGEROUSLY WORN OUT. *TC
THE BRAKE ROTORS NEED TO BE TURNED OR REPLACED AT 25000 MILES. THE VEHICLE IS TOO HEAVY/BIG FOR THE SMALLER SIZED ROTORS. VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND EFFICIENTLY TO BRAKES. IN MY CASE, THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP AT 25000 MILES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH DODGE ON THE MANUFACTURING OF THE DURANGO.
RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALER COMPLAINING OF POOR ANTILOCK BRAKE PERFORMANCE AND EXCESSIVE PEDAL TRAVEL. DEALER RESURFACED FRONT ROTORS/REPLACED PADS. VIBRATION FROM RUN OUT IS GONE BUT POOR ANTILOCK PERFORMANCE AND EXCESSIVE PEDAL TRAVEL STILL EXITS. DEALER STATES ALL IS FINE. EXCESSIVE STOPPING DISTANCE CONTRIBUTED TO FIRST ACCIDENT. *CB
RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALER COMPLAINING OF TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE UPON FIRST DRIVE ON COLD MORNINGS. DEALER COULD NOT REPRODUCE. DEALER COMPLETED 30000 MILE SERVICE INCLUDING TRANSMISSION FLUID/FILTER CHANGE AND NOW TRANSMISSION WON'T ENGAGE AT ALL EVEN THOUGH COMPUTER SAYS IT IS. AT LEAST IT HAPPENED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER FOR HELP DIAGNOSING. *CB
CONSUMER RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL 04V596000 CONCERNING BALL JOINT WEAR. AFTER HAVING THE UPPER BALL JOINTS REPLACED, WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE SWERVED ON ITS OWN. CONSUMER HAD DIFFICULTY MAINTAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DTERMINED THAT VEHICLE NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A SQUEAKING NOISE IN THE RIGHT FRONT END. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE SQUEAK. CONSUMER FELT THE SQUEAK MIGHT BE DUE TO THE UPPER BALL JOINTS. *AK
WITH JUST OVER 16K MILES ON MY 2002 DODGE DURANGO, I NOTICED MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WEARING BADLY ON THE OUTER EDGE. UPON JACKING THE VEHICLE UNDER THE LOWER CONTROL ARM, I FOUND THAT THE UPPER BALL JOINT HAD EXCESSIVE LOOSENESS WHEN THE TIRE/SPINDLE ASSEMBLY WAS SHAKEN. I ALSO FOUND SLIGHTLY LESS PLAY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE UPPER CONTROLARM/BALL JOINT ASSEMBLYS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT I AM CONCERNED OF WHETHER THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IN ANOTHER 16K MILES.HOW CAN I BE ASSURED THE DEALER REPLACED THE PARTS WITH AN IMPROVED VERSION? THE WORN TIRE DUE TO THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT IS INCIDENTAL DAMAGE ACCORDING TO THE DEALER AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND SO I MUST REPLACE IT MYSELF. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS EITHER.*AK
I WAS TRAVELING AT 25 MPH AND APPROX. 100 FEET BEHIND OTHER CARS WHEN SOMEONE ABOUT 10 CARS AHEAD MADE A HARD STOP CAUSING EVERYONE BEHIND THEM TO DO THE SAME. I HEARD AT LEAST THREE CARS TIRES SCREACHING TO A STOP IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES IN MY 2002 DODGE DURANGO WITH BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED DOWN AS FAR AS IT WOULD GO AND AS HARD AS I COULD THE TRUCK SLOWED TO ABOUT 5 MPH WITH EVERYTHING LOOSE IN THE TRUCK FLYING FOWARD, BUT THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. FOR THE LAST 30 FEET IT JUST KEPT GOING AT 5 MPH AND I HIT THE REAR OF OF A 97 HONDA ACCORD. THE TIRES NEVER LOCKED UP OR DID I FEEL ANY ANTI-LOCK PULSATION IN THE BRAKE PEDAL AS I HAVE ON OTHER VEHICLES. I HAD NO CONTROL IN THIS ACCIDENT. IF I HAD NOT HAD 4 WHEEL ANTI-LOCK BRAKES I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON THIS TRUCK! BUT THE DEALER SAID EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE KILLED IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT DEALT WITH. THE HONDA I HIT SUFFERED HEAVY DAMAGE BECAUSE OF THE HEIGHT DIFFERANCE IN BUMPERS. MY TRUCK WAS NOT AS BAD. MY AUTO INSURACE RATE WILL BE GOING UP FROM WHAT I BELIEVE I COULD NOT HAVE PREVENTED. THANK GOODNESS NO BODY WAS HURT.*AK
WHILE STEERING TO THE RIGHT CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT BOTH FRONTAL UPPER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
MY 2002 DODGE DURANGO LEFT AND RIGHT UPPER BALL JOINTS WORE OUT PREMATURELY. THEY COULD NOT BE FIXED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT $625.82 AT A DODGE DEALERSHIP. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT. *AK
WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT BUT STILL SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT KNEE. A POLICE OFFICER ARRIVED ON THE SCENE. ALSO, NHTSA PE 03-032, FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER BALL JOINT FAILURE: WHILE VEHICLE WAS GETTING REPAIRED MECHANIC FOUND THAT UPPER BALL JOINTS WERE WEARING OUT AT AN ALARMING RATE. *AK
DURING INSPECTION, MECHANIC NOTICED THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE WOBBLED. DEALER STATED THE PASSENGER FRONT UPPER BALL JOINT WAS WORN OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. *PH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC WITH THE BRAKES ENGAGED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDICATING THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAD FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED HE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE AT LEAST FOUR TIMES AND THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED EACH TIME. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR DUE TO THE BRAKE LIGHTS BECOMING TOO HOT AND SOFTENING THE PLASTIC LENS. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE ELECTRICAL CONTACT WITH LAMP TERMINALS . THE REAR ALUMINUM RIM WAS LEAKING AIR FROM INSIDE TO OUTSIDE. DEALER STATED NEVER SEEN BEFORE, AND THE RIM HAD ONE YEAR WARRANTY.*AK
OWNER PURCHASED VEHICLE ON 7/3/03 WITH 1300 MILES ON ODOMETER. OWNER HAD PROBLEMS WITH NOISES UNDER THE HOOD AND IN THE STEERING COLUMN. VEHICLE WOULD SLIP OUT OF PARK INTO NEUTRAL OR REVERSE. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON 11/1/03 THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED. FIRE STARTED UNDER HOOD IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT, BUT DAMAGE TOO SEVERE TO DETERMINE EXACT CAUSE. *NM
THE BRAKES PULSATED WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. HOWEVER, THERE WASN'T ANY PROBLEM WITH BRAKING. THE DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT BOTH FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED *AK AFTER REPLACING 3 SETS OF ROTORS WITHIN SIX MONTHS THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT DODGE AUTO PARTS ARE DEFECTIVE. *CB *JB
THE ABS SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW FOR AN EMERGENCY STOP. THE "CYCLE" TIME IS VERY LONG BETWEEN BRAKE APPLICATION ON A DRY ROAD. SOMETIMES THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND NO BRAKES APPLIED. HAVE HAD TO STEER SHARPLY TO AVOID OTHER CARS, CAN NOT RELY ON THE BRAKES TO SOP EVERY TIME. *LA
WE OPERATE A FLEET OF NINE 2002 DODGE DURANGO SUVS. THESE VEHICLES ARE USED AS PARAMEDIC EMERGENCY RESPONSE VEHICLES. BASED ON INFORMATION WE'VE SEEN IN THE NATIONAL MEDIA, WE'VE BEEN PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION, SPECIFICALLY THE BALL JOINTS. EIGHT OF THE NINE VEHICLES CURRENTLY HAVE LESS THAN 50,000 MILES, BUT WE HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS AND CONTROL ARMS ON ONE OF THE NINE (AT JUST UNDER 50,000 MILES). THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WAS "CLOSE TO FAILURE."*AK
BALL JOINTS WERE FOUND TO BE FAILING AND THE ENTIRE UPPER CONTROL ARMS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 44,700 MILES. *AK
I HAVE NOTICED STRANGE SOUNDS EMINATING FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION OF MY DODGE DURANGO SINCE OCTOBER OF 2003. INITIALLY I ASSUMED THESE SOUNDS WERE FROM COLD SHOCKS SINCE IT FIRST OCCURED WITH THE ONSET OF COLD WEATHER.*AK AFTER SEEING THE STORY ON CBS, I AM NOW CONCERNED ABOUT THE BALL JOINTS. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE BALL JOINTS CHECKED BUT I AM AFRAID TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CHECK THEM.
WHEN BACKING OUT WITH STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO THE RIGHT VEHICLE MADE A CLICKING NOISE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. *AK
AT 27K MILES MY DODGE DURANGO NEEDED BOTH THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS REPLACED FOR BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2002 DODGE DURANGO IN JUNE 2002. MY DURANGO STARTED SQUEAKING AND POPPING AT ABOUT 17,000 MILES. I HAVE COMPLAINED OF SQUEAKING AND POPPING IN THE FRONT-END. EVERY TIME IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR, THEY NEVER FOUND ANYTHING WRONG AND SAID THEY COULD NOT HEAR THE SQUEAKING NOISE, BUT AS SOON AS I DROVE OFF THE LOT THERE IT WAS AS SURE AS IT WAS WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. I WOULD TELL THEM THAT THEY NEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO HEAR IT SQUEAK. MY DURANGO GOT TO THE POINT WHERE THE FRONT-END FELT LIKE I HAD EVERY LITTLE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. NOT TO MENTION IT FELT VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT WOULD ALSO SQUEAK WITHOUT EVEN DRIVING IT. ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD SQUEAK. ON OCTOBER 2, 2003 I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN AGAIN BECAUSE IT WAS BEGINNING TO FEEL TO UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AT THAT TIME THEY DISCOVERED THAT BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT UPPER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINTS HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB

TWO MONTHS AGO, A NEW FRAME WAS INSTALLED ON MY 2002 DODGE DURANGO. ON SEPT. 14, 2003 MY DAUGHTER WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON INTERSTATE 26 COMING TO MY HOME. SHE SAID THE CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND SHE HIT THE CONCRETE WALL AND ENDED UP IN THE SIDE OF INTERSTATE. THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE AXLE LOOKS LIKE IT BROKE. THE TIRE HAS NOT BEEN FOUND YET WHICH HAS THE STUDS, HUB ETC. *JB
DT: WHEN THE CONSUMER HIT THE BRAKES THEY MADE A CLUNKING SOUND AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE OCCURRED REGARDLESS OF WEATHER CONDITIONS. *NM
SINCE I PURHCASED MY 2002 DURANGO SLT IN MARCH OF 2002. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. THE AIR CONDITIONING HAD TO BE REPAIRED TWICE ALONG WITH THE LUMBAR. OUR TRUCK BREAKS DOWN ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. WE HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR TWO WEEKS UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED. THE TRANSFER CASE WAS IN SHAMBLES. IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WE HAD TO PAY THE 853.80, BECAUSE DAIMLER CHRYSLER REFUSES TO PAY. THE TRUCK IS A YEAR 1/2 OLD THAT TYPE OF PROBLEM SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND YET I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER 3 AND 1/2 YEARS. THIS IS A $30K TRUCK. IT'S DEFINATELY NOT WORTH IT. WILL NEVER PURCHASE OR RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE TO BUY.
WHEN COMING TO A SUDDEN STOP ABS BRAKES FAILED AND PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *AK
VEHICLE HAD THE YEARLY STATE INSPECTION AND DIDN'T PASS IT. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE UPPER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO REPLACED. *AK *SC
VEHICLE TOOK LONGER TO STOP. AS RESULT, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. DEALER STATED THERE WAS A MARGINAL PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. *AK
DEALER STATES THAT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPED TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING TURNED AND THAT I WILL NEED TO PRUCHASE NEW ONES AT THE COST OF APPROX. $450.00. THE BRAKES PADS ARE ONLY SLIGHTLY WORN. CAR SHUTTERS VIGOROUSLY WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRENTY AND THAT THIS IS NOT A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE/CHRYSTLER WAITING FOR A RESPONSE.
2002 DODGE DURANGO: BOTH UPPER BALL JOINTS REPLACED AT 18,000 MILES. DEALER INITIALLY REFUSED REPAIR CITING "NO PROBLEM FOUND". I HAD TO PROVE THE BALL JOINTS WERE DEFECTIVE BY JACKING THE VEHICLE AND DEMONSTRATING EXCESSIVE PLAY BY MOVING THE WHEEL THAT WAS OFF THE GROUND. ONLY THEN DID THE DEALER ADMIT THE BALL JOINTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED THEM. YOU NEED TO KNOW THERE ARE MORE DURANGO OWNERS OUT HERE WITH DEFECTIVE BALL JOINTS. IN MY OPINION, THEY SHOULD LAST 100,000 MILES+, NOT 18,000.*AK
2002 DODGE DURANGO DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE EQUIPMENT. *MR THE PAVEMENT WAS DRY WHEN THE CONSUMER REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER FELT AS IF SHE HAD NO BRAKES. THE CONSUMERS FRIEND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE BRAKES WERE LEAKING AND WORN OUT. *SC
HAD A CAR LENGTH & 1/2 IN FRONT OF ME, I DO THIS BECAUSE I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE WITH THE CAR NOT STOPPING. APPLIED BRAKES NORMALLY, CAR SLOWED & PULLED TO THE RIGHT BUT WOULD NOT STOP. BRAKE FAILURE ON A DODGE NEON 2O02- WHILE GOING UP HILL AT 40 MPH AND COMMING ONTO A RED LIGHT THE CARS BREAKS FAILED TO CATCH. MY HUSBAND FLOORED THE BREAKS AND TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO PUMP THEM. 5-10 FEET FROM IMPACT THE CARS BREAKS CAUGHT AND STILL WE IMPACTED INTO A TOYOTA AVALON

I HAD A 2002 DODGE DURANGO. I WAS DRIVING IT ONE DAY WITH MY 2 YOUNG SONS IN IT, AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND NEARLY KILLED US ALL. IT BURNED DOWN TO NOTHING. VEHICLE FIRE SOUTH HILLS VILLAGE SHOPPING MALL, THAT IS WHERE I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. DODGE & CHRYSLER DID ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING FOR ME. I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF THIS, BECAUSE IF THERE IS A DEFECT, MY WARRANTY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO COVER BUMPER TO BUMPER FOR 3 YEARS 36,000 MILES AND I ONLY HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT. CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING SHE SMELLED AN ODOR OF BURNING RUBBER BUT DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT WAS HER VEHICLE. AS SOON AS SHE PUT THE TURN SIGNAL ON, ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED TO BLINK. WHEN THE TURN WAS COMPLETE SHE SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER INTO A MALL PARKING LOT AND AT THAT POINT THE VEHICLE WENT UP IN FLAMES. *AK *NLM
OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, I NOTICED EXTENSIVE NOISE IN THE FRONT END OF MY 2002 DURANGO. IT GOT WORSE AND WAS MOST PROMINENT WHEN STRIKING POTHOLES OR CHANGES IN THE SURFACE ELEVATION WHEN DRIVING OR MOVING THE VEHICLE. AT 35,000 MILES I TOOK IT IN TO THE SELLING DEALERSHIP FOR A CHECK UP. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE BALL JOINT SITUATION, AS IT WAS QUITE A PUBLIC AFFAIR. THE FRONT END NOISE BECAME SO LOUD THAT IT SOUNDED AS IF SOMEONE WAS STRIKING THE UNDERCARRIAGE WITH A SLEDGE HAMMER.*AK IT WAS DETERMINED THAT ALL FOUR OF THE BALL JOINTS, UPPER AND LOWER, HAD FAILED, WERE WORN OUT. THEY WERE ALL REPLACED AT NO COST TO ME, AS THE REPAIR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I JUST WANTED TO REPORT THIS, AS THE UPPER BALL JOINTS ARE NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS SUSPENSION SYSTEM. I TRUST THAT THE NEWER BALL JOINTS, NOT TRW, WERE PLACED ON MY VEHICLE. IF THIS IS A REPAIR THAT MUST OCCUR EVERY 36K MILES OR SO, THIS WILL GET EXPENSIVE. THANK YOU.

I PURCHASED A 2002 DODGE DURANGO 2WD SPORT IN AUG. OF 2001. IN JULY OF 2002, I NOTICED THAT THE SUSPENSION ON THE LEFT WAS MAKING NOISE AND DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE A-FRAME AND BALL JOINT ON THE LEFT WERE FAILING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THANKFULLY, I CAUGHT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE SUSPENSION FAILED COMPLETELY. I WAS VERY CONCERNED THAT A VEHICLE SO NEW WOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF ISSUE. THANKFULLY, I HAD WARRANTY COVERAGE TO PAY FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN SHE DRIVES TRUCK IT FEELS FUNNY, IT FEELS AS THOUGH SOMETHING IS GOING TO BREAK IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING ALSO FEELS FUNNY. IT DID NOT FEEL LIKE THAT WHEN SHE FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. SHE HAS TAKEN TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE MECHANIC KEPT TELLING HER THAT THAT FEELING WAS NORMAL, BUT SHE KNEW DIFFERENTLY, AND DID NOT THINK SO.*AK
WHEN APPLIED BRAKES TO STOP WITH PLENTY OF DISTANCE AND NOT A SUDDEN STOP, IT KEPT ON ROLLING NEARLY REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. WE FINALLY STOPPED ABOUT AN INCH FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. IT SEEMS LIKE THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. *AK

I HAD A GOODYEAR WRANGLET TIRE FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WITHOUT NOTICE THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE SIDEWALL CAUSING AN OUT OF CONTROL CONDITION. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE 2002 DODGE DURANGO STOPPED SAFELY. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THE TREAD TOTALLY SEPARATE FROM THE SIDEWALL (3 TOTAL PCS 1 EA SIDEWALLS AND 1 TREAD). I WENT TO GOODYEAR THEY SAID I PICKED UP A NAIL OR SOMETHING CAUSING A FLAT. I'M SORRY BUT I HAVE HAD FLATS IN THE PAST. WHEN YOU PICK UP SOMETHING AND GET A FLAT YOU LOOSE AIR PRESSURE AND ARE ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND FIX TIRE, NOT EXPLODE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE OHIO ATTY. GENERAL WHO PASSED IT TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. THEY SAID THEY ARE JUST A MIDDLE MAN WITHOUT POWER TO RESOLVE. AT THIS POINT I WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST GOODYEAR TIRE. I WOULD LIKE 4 DIFFERENT TIRES I WOULD ALSO BE WILLING TO PAY FOR USED PORTION OF TIRES ( JUST WHAT IS USED NOT 75% GOODYEAR STD). WHEN THE TIRE EXPLODED IT ALSO CAUSED SOME MINOR DAMAGE I WOULD LIKE FIXED. I DO HAVE THE TIRE IN MY POSSESSION AND I AM ABLE TO SUPPLY ANYTHING YOU MIGHT NEED. I.E. TIRE, PICTURES. *LA

WHEN HAVING TO STOP WHEN SOMEONE STOPS IN FRONT OF YOU AND PUT ON YOUR BRAKES ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HAVE NO BRAKES. MY HUSBAND HAS ALREADY HAD 1 WRECK AND I HAVE ALMOST HAD 3. LAST FRIDAY WHILE TRAVELING TO WORK A TRUCK PULLING A UTILITY TRAILER SUDDENLY STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO HIT MY BRAKES, WHEN I DID THEY WENT DIRECTLY TO THE FLOOR AND SINCE I WASN'T REAL CLOSE I FINALLY DID STOP ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM THE UTILITY TRAILER. WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND I PUT MY BRAKES ON I PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN AND HOLD IT. BUT THERE ARE NO BRAKES, IT TRIES TO BRAKE BUT THE PEDAL JUST KEEPS ON GOING TO THE FLOOR.I NOTICED AFTERWARD THAT THE BRAKES SEEM TO READUST THEMSELVES. TOOK VEHICLE TO ALEXANDER DODGE AND THEY LOOKED A BRAKES BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, SINCE THIS TIME I ALMOST DID NOT GET STOPPED. *AK
