I OWN A 2003 DODGE DURANGO, AND HAVE ALWAYS PROVIDED PROPER MAINTENANCE FOR THE VEHICLE - OIL CHANGES, TUNE-UP ETC. ON JULY 4, 2010 I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED A TAPPING SOUND AND THE OIL LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN AUTO REPAIR FACILITY, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS A MUDDY SLUDGE BUILD UP IN THE OIL PAN WHICH WAS CLOGGING THE OIL PICK-UP SCREEN. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70K ORIGINAL MILES ON IT AND HAS HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND I DON'T BELIEVE THAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. UPON CHECKING VARIOUS, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A PATTERN WITH SLUDGE BUILD UP IN THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THAT THE AUTO MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND RECOGNIZE AND RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR COMPLETELY STOPS WORKING DUE TO BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR AND ATTACHED WIRING PIGTAIL COMPLETELY BURNING OUT. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED EVERY 12 -18 MONTHS OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THE FAILURE REQUIRES THE REPLACEMENT OF A RESISTOR(PART # 5061575AA) AND WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR KIT.(PART # 5017124AC) IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING FROM THE MECHANICS WHO HAVE MADE THESE REPAIRS THAT ALL OR PART OF THE PARTS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT HAVE OVERHEATED TO THE EXTENT OF MELTING AND/OR BURNING PRIOR TO FAILURE. *TR
I HAVE AN 03 DODGE DURANGO AND EVER SO OFTEN WHEN I MAKE A STOP THE RPM GO UP AND DOWN AND MAKES IT WANT TO SHUT OFF AND THERE'S TIMES WHERE IT ACTUALLY CUT OFF AND SOME DAYS WHEN I WANT TO PULL OFF IT WONT MOVE UNLESS I SIT THERE AND LET IT WARM FOR AT LEAST 2-5 MINUTES LUGS HAVE STARTED TO POP OFF HAD A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. *TR
1. THE HEADLIGHTS, PARKLIGHTS, FOGLIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, DOOR LOCK SWITCH, 4WD, KEY FOB, OR INTERMEDIATE WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE WAS AT A LOW SPEED AND NOT IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE. 2. IT ONLY OCCURRED ONE TIME, BUT WHAT IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY. 3. THE CENTRAL TIMER MODULE (CTM) WAS REPLACED. *TR
NOISE IN WHEEL BEARINGS: HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUBS DUE TO BAD BEARINGS. WAS WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY AND WHEEL LOCKING UP. FINALLY GOT REPLACED AT ~89000 BUT STARTED ~82000 MILES AS WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY AND THEM LOCKING UP/FALLING OFF. THEN WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE UPPER AND LOWER JOINTS NEED REPLACING. POOR QUALITY FOR AMERICAN PRODUCTS AS VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN ON THE ROAD AND IN THE SOUTH WITH GOOD WEATHER. *KB
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 DODGE DURANGO IN WHICH I AM FINANCING THE VEHICLE SINCE 2007 APRIL, WITHOUT WARNING MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE ENGINE WAS BANGING REALLY BAD. THE ENGINE DIED ON ME., I WAS STUCK ON A BRIDGE WITH 6 CHILDREN 100 MILES FROM HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN. NOW I AM STUCK PAYING FOR A TRUCK THAT I CAN NOT USE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HE STARTED THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT HIS HEADLIGHTS AND THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS FAILED. HE CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 02V322000 EXTERIOR LIGHTING: HEADLIGHTS: SWITCH THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT ASSIST. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 87,000. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. UPDATED 03/15/10 *BF UPDATED 05/12/10.8JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR ENTERING THE VEHICLE AS THE BLOWER MOTOR STOP RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RESISTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED BUT AND CAUSED THE WIRES TO BECOME COMPLETELY MELTED. THE CONTACT ADDED THAT THE WIRING BECAME SO HOT THAT IT BURNED TO THE TOUCH. A REPAIR KIT WAS INSTALLED BUT IT FAILED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
I HAVE 2003 DODGE DURANGO, THE CENTRAL TIMER MODULE WAS REPLACED IN JANUARY 2010. THE HEADLAMPS, INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER ON & OFF. THE LEFT HEADLAMP WENT TO LOW BEAM. DRIVING AT THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WOULD GO LOW BEAM OR COMPLETELY TURN OFF FOR ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS. I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STAYED ON THE ACCESS ROAD UNTIL I REACHED HOME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN SUDDENLY, THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED AND FAILED TO OPERATE. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO REACH HIS DESTINATION WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHICH REQUIRED THE REMOVAL OF THE FUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE CENTRAL TIMER MODULE (CTM). RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V3220000, EXTERIOR LIGHTING HEADLIGHTS SWITCH IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I HAVE CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE ONLY FOR MY VEHICLE IS THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. I HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AS THE ONLY RECALLS AND DEFECTS AS WELL. THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION THAT WILL CAUSE A CRASH AND THE IDLING OF THE ENGINE WHILE IN PARK AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY KIDS WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO. I AM LEASING THIS VEHICLE I FEEL LIKE I'M PAYING FOR A LEMON. I CAN'T ENJOY LIFE WITH MY KIDS THEY ARE THE MAIN REASON I GOT A TRUCK IN THE FIRST PLACE. HELP PLEASE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. *TR
I HAVE A 03 DODGE DURANGO WITH ABOUT 98,000 MILES. I WAS TAKING MY CHILD TO SCHOOL AND THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED TO ZERO. I HAD IT PULLED TO A SHOP. THEY HAVE PULLED THE MOTOR, CHECKED IT AND THE OIL PUMP AND PICK-UP TUBE. EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH AND EVERYONE I HAVE SPOKE TO, SAY THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS MOTOR.THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET WITH PEOPLE IN THE SAME SITUATION. WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLES AND I DON'T KNOW WHY SOMETHING CANT BE DONE OR WHY THEY CANNOT FIND SOMETHING WRONG. IT IS HARD TO CONTINUE TO MAKE YOUR PAYMENTS, NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THEN BEING TOLD THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT A NEW MOTOR WILL BE ABOUT $5000-$6000.00. I HAVE A 2003 DURANGO THAT HAS BEEN SHOWING SOME VERY UNUSUAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS WILL SOMETIMES FLICKER AT NIGHT. THE DOOR CHIME SOUNDS LIKE THE SPEAKER HAS A SHORT IN IT. I NOTICED THAT MY GARAGE DOOR OPENER NO LONGER WORKS AND SOMETIMES THE COMPASS AND TEMP GAUGE IN THE OVERHEAD FREEZES. THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AND REFUSES TO WORK WITH A NEW BULB. I TESTED THE CIRCUIT AND IT IS DEAD. I LOOKED INTO THE ISSUE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT HAS A CENTRAL TIME MODULE THAT CONTROLS MANY OF THE ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS OF THE TRUCK. MINE HAS ALL THE CLASSIC SYMPTOMS OF A BAD ONE. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT A FEW HUNDRED DURANGO'S AND DAKOTA'S WERE RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER MINE WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE THREADS ON THE INTERNET OF CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME THING AND DODGE IS NOT REPLACING THEM. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE HEADLIGHTS CAN STOP WORKING AT NIGHT AS YOU DRIVE. I CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL REVIEW THIS PROBLEM AND SEND ME AN E-MAIL WITH THEIR DECISION IN A FEW DAY'S . THIS NEVER HAPPENED. I HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO DODGE FOR MANY YEARS OWNING 2 DAKOTA'S, 1 RAM TRUCK AND MY DURANGO R/T. I AM NOT GOING TO BUY ANY DODGE PRODUCTS IN THE FUTURE AS I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO TRUST THAT THE COMPANY THAT MADE MY VEHICLE WILL DO WHAT IT TAKES TO FIX A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. IT'S AS IF THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT SAFETY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT THE SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, SHE NOTICED THAT THERE WERE SPARKS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE HEATER WIRING HARNESS. THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR AND NOTICED THE PLASTIC ON THE WIRES HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED. THE WIRING HARNESS LASTED NINE MONTHS AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED TWICE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE THAT OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 173,000.
I HAVE TO STOP FAR AWAY FROM A VEHICLE FEAR OF RUNNING IN THE BACK OF THEIR VEHICLE. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO STOP SOMETIME, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR AWHILE NOW ALOT RECENTLY. IT CUTS OFF ON ME IF I GET IN THE HIGHWAY SO EMBARRASSING AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS I ONLY CAN TAKE OFF SLOW. WHICH CAUSES ME TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY AND NOT GET BACK ON. I HAD BOUGHT A CAR VACUUM AND IT STATED SMOKING ON ME, I WAS USING THE SOCKET IN THE ARM REST. I HAVE ALOT OF PROBLEMS WHEN I USE THE A/C OR HEAT IT CUTS OFF ON ME AND IT STALLS TO TAKE OFF,IT'S SCARY FOR ME AND MY KIDS. IT RAMS BY IT'S SELF AND IT ACTS AS IF IT'S GONE CUT OFF AND MOST OF THE TIME IT DO. IT MAKE THIS PUTTING SOUNDS WHEN IT'S GOING TO CUT OFF OR EVEN WHEN IT STOPS ON ME. THE DEALER REPLACE THE CADILLAC CONVERTER AND MY OXYGEN SENSORS. I ALSO GOT A TUNE UP AND TWO OF THE FUEL INJECTORS REPLACE NEW PARTS, THAT I PAID FOR MYSELF. IT FEELS LIKE MY FRONT SUSPENSION IS MESSED UP I HAD MY BRAKES CHECKED AND THEY ARE NOT BAD, BUT YOU CAN FEEL IT WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKES SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. *TR

FIRST THE KEY FOBS STOPPED UNLOCKING THE DOORS THEN THE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING WAS TOLD THAT THE CENTRAL TIMER MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE DEALER WOULD REPLACE. CHRYSLER DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODULE. *TR
HEADLIGHT, HORN, INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILURE ON MY '03 DURANGO. DURANGOS AND DAKOTAS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR A BAD CENTRAL TIMER MODULE. CHRYSLER SAYS MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. THE DEALER HAS DONE A OFFICIAL DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND THE CTM TO BE FAULTY. I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR UPDATED 02/24/10. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED SHORTLY AFTER FILING THE REPORT, HIS WIFE HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE PROBLEM MENTIONED. SHE WAS OUT EARLY IN THE MORNING ON NOVEMBER 3, 2009 WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. WHILE TRYING TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WITHOUT THE USE OF THE HEADLIGHTS, SHE SCRAPED THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON A ROADSIDE METAL MARKER. THE SCRAPE WENT THE WHOLE LENGTH OF THE VEHICLE. FRONT BALL JOINT MAKING A CLICKING SOUND. IN 2005 GOT A RECALL LETTER. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID THE RECALL DIDN;T EFFECT MY VEHICLE. CALLED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE NEXT YEAR TO SEE IF THE RECALL WAS ON MY VEHICLE YET. THE DEALER TOLD ME NO. VEHICLE KEPT MAKING CLUNKING NOISE. AT 100,00 MILES I PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE WHEEL FEEL OF AT THE RIGHT BALL JOINT. TOW TRUCK COULDN'T TOW THE VEHICLE DUE TO BEING ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WASN;T THEIR PROBLEM. I HAD TO HIRE A MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS IN MY DRIVEWAY. TIRES HAVE WORN TERRIBLE AND TRUCK KEPT COMING OUT OF ALIGNMENT. I KEPT GOOD ROTATION ON THE TIRES BUT COULDN'T KEEP THE INSIDE FROM WEARING. I DO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE BALL JOINTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH HE STRUCK A POTHOLE . SHORTLY AFTERWARDS HE HEARD A PECULIAR NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FRONT UPPER BALL JOINTS FAILED. THE FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04596000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:UPPER BALL JOINT). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
I HAVE HAD 3 WRECKS . 2 I HIT DEER HEAD ON THE LAST, MY BRAKES FAILED STEERING FAILED AS I SKID AND I HIT A TREE IN FEB 2013. AT NO TIME DID MY AIRBAGS INFLATE. I WORE MY SEAT BELT ON ALL 3 OCCASIONS NOT INJURED EXCEPT LOWER BACK PAIN EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE UPPER BALL JOINT STARTED COMING APART AT JUST 47,000 MILES. I WAS LUCKY TO CATCH IT AS IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE WHOLE WHEEL COMING OFF THE VEHICLE AND A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF AT SPEED. TYPICALLY BALL JOINTS WEAR BEFORE THEY FAIL AND THAT IS USUALLY ONLY AFTER A HUNDRED OR A FEW HUNDREDS THOUSAND MILES. TO HAVE A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE BALL JOINT AT JUST 47,000 MILES IS ALARMING. I DISCOVERED THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND A SILENT RECALL OF 2000-2003 DURANGO'S FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED DODGE ABOUT THE REPAIR BUT THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT SAYING THAT EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS A 2003, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS THE SAME YEAR AND SAME EXTRAORDINARY AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
WIFE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK HEAD LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF AND WIPERS FRONT STOP WORKING ON LOW JUST ON HIGH AND BACK STOP ALL TOGETHER LIGHTS JUST WORK IF DRIVERS DOOR IS OPEN TOOK TO DEALER SHIP WAS TOLD THAT THE CTM WAS BAD INFORMED DEALER SHIP THAT I SAY A RECALL ON THIS WAS TOLD NOT FOR MY DURANGO. *TR
AFTER REMOVING IGNITION KEY FROM VEHICLE, OWNER RETURNS TO VEHICLE TO FIND THAT IGNITION KEY WILL NOT STAY IN KEY SLOT OR TURN. VEHICLE IS IN PARK, BUT STEERING WHEEL LOCK DOESN'T ENGAGE PROPERLY, SO STEERING WHEEL CAN BE TURNED MULTIPLE COMPLETE REVOLUTIONS (IF YOU'RE STRONG ENOUGH, THINK NON-POWER STEERING). AT THIS POINT, VEHICLE IS EFFECTIVELY DISABLED. STRIKING THE STEERING COLUMN WITH A RUBBER MALLET DIRECTLY ON IGNITION KEY SLOT RESOLVES PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. BASED ON MY RESEARCH (EXAMPLE HERE: HTTP://FORUMS.AUTOMOTIVE.COM/70/16154/DODGE/1999-DODGE-1500-VAN-KEY-WONT-TURN-IN-IGNITION/INDEX.HTML) THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT OCCURS ON ALL DODGE VANS AND SUVS FROM 1999 TO AT LEAST 2003 MODEL YEAR. THIS TYPE OF DEFECT CAN RESULT IN DRIVER BEING STRANDED IN REMOTE LOCATIONS UNEXPECTEDLY. WHILE THIS MIGHT NOT SEEM LIKE AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS CERTAINLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT DODGE SHOULD BE REPAIRING FOR FREE. DESPITE THE FACT THAT I CAN FIND HUNDREDS OF INCIDENTS OF THIS DEFECT OCCURRING (SOMETIMES UP THE 6-7 TIMES ON THE SAME VEHICLE OVER THE COURSE OF A SINGLE YEAR) THERE IS NOT A SINGLE TSB. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FORCED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE AND REPAIR FOR FREE. *TR
HAVE A 2003 DODGE DURANGO 79,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING OIL PRESSURE DROPPED TO ZERO. CHECK GAUGE LIGHT CAME ON AFTERWARDS. TOOK VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS BOTH STATED WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THEY SAID WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE DUE TO OIL SLUDGE BUILD UP RESULTING IN ENGINE FAILURE. LOOKED ONLINE ONLY TO FIND HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINT ON DODGE DURANGOS WITH LOW MILEAGE. THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR KEEPS BURNING OUT. CONSTANTLY HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING THE PARTS FOR THE RESISTOR. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET? *TR
BOTH FRONT ELECTRIC WINDOWS IN OUR 2003 DODGE DURANGO STOPPED WORKING. AS SOON AS I PAID TO HAVE ONE WINDOW REPLACED; THE OTHER WINDOW FAILED. THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW CAME DOWN AS I WAS DRIVING OVER A BRIDGE IN A RAINSTORM. THE RAIN PELTED MY CHILDREN WHO WERE RIDING IN THEIR CARSEATS IN THE NEXT ROW OF SEATS. AS SOON AS I GOT OFF THE BRIDGE, I TURNED ONTO AN EXIT AND WAITED OUT THE RAIN AT A GAS STATION. I STILL HAVE NOT REPLACED THE WINDOW. 2003 DODGE DURANGO HAD PROBLEMS WITH A BAD MODULE. CONSUMER STATES THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM DUE TO THE TIMELINE BY CHRYSLER. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED BLINKING. THE RIGHT PASSENGER LOW BEAM WENT OUT COMPLETELY AND WOULD COME BACK ON AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME. THE HORN ALSO BLEW, THE LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND ALARM WENT OFF EVERY TIME THE CONSUMER UNLOCKED THE DOORS. THE GAUGES WOULD ACT UP AT TIMES, AND THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE WOULD BE LOST. THE CONSUMER HASN'T EXPERIENCED ANY MORE PROBLEMS SINCE THE CENTRAL TIMER MODULE WAS REPLACED. *JB

NOW THEY ARE SAYING OUR WHEEL BEARINGS ARE FAILING AND ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL THAT WAS PUT IN PLACE BACK IN 2004. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEATER BLOWER RESISTOR ONCE A YEAR FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS IN MY 2003 DODGE DURANGO. THIS TIME THE HEATER WIRING HARNESS PIGTAIL CONNECTION WAS CORRODED AND MELTED AND BURNT, IT WAS MELTED TO THE RESISTOR MODULE. AFTER REPLACING IT NOW THE ABS LIGHT ,THE BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON, THE CLOCK WONT WORK,THE SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT WORK. THIS DURANGO ONLY HAS 31,000 MILES ON IT. THE DODGE DEALER SERVICE DEPT. FOUND A FLAT TIRE THIS MORNING AND NOTICED THAT THE FLAT WAS DUE TO THE TIRE WALL SEPARATING FROM THE REST OF THE TIRE MY SUV ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT AND ALL 4 OF THE TIRES ARE DOING THIS ON AN EVEN SEAM AROUND THE ENTIRE TIRE. THE TIRES WERE MANUFACTURED IN 2002. THE TIRES ARE PRACTICALLY NEW DUE TO THE ABOUT OF TREAD LEFT ON THEM. I FEEL THIS CAUSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE TIRES COULD FAIL AT ANY MOMENT. *TR
2003 DODGE DURANGO HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LUG NUTS STAMPED STAINLESS COVER. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE SHREDDED. ALL OF THE LUG NUTS CAME OFF, EXCEPT ONE. WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON THE LUG WRENCH, TO BREAK IT LOOSE, THE STAMPED STAINLESS DECORATIVE CAP TWISTED OFF. HE WAS UNABLE TO GET IT BACK INTO PLACE, SO THAT THE 19MM LUG WRENCH WOULD WORK. THE CONSUMER REPLACED ALL OF THE LUG NUTS. *JB

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR MULTIPLE TIMES. ON ONE OCCASION THE WHEN THE RESISTOR FAILED, THE WIRING HARNESS AND RESISTOR GOT SO HOT THEY FUSED TOGETHER, INCLUDING THE ACCOMPANYING WIRING. THE LAST TIME I PURCHASED ON AND REPLACED IT I WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD BEEN REDESIGNED AND WOULD HOLD UP BETTER. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY A DODGE EMPLOYEE NOT TO RUN THE SYSTEM ON THE LOWEST SETTING. I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS COOLED BY THE AIR MOVEMENT INSIDE THE HVAC DUCT WORK, BUT AT WHAT POINT WILL DODGE ASSUME THE RESPONSIBILITY OF A POOR DESIGN AND LACK OF QUALITY REPLACEMENT PARTS. *TR

2003 DODGE DURANGO WAS PURCHASED FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN WICKLIFFE,OH IN APRIL OF 08. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP NEEDING TO BE SERVICED IN EXCESS OF 7 TIMES, FROM THE BUSHINGS BEING REPLACED TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REPEATEDLY COMING ON WITH THE DEALERSHIPS INABILITY TO FIX IT . I HAVE BEEN IN A RENTAL CAR MORE THAN I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASED FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
