THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START INTERMITTENTLY AND BOTH TURN SIGNALS ON THE MIRRORS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS OUR DURANGO HAS HAD ISSUES WITH STARTING. WHEN USING THE PUSH START BUTTON THE ENGINE WILL CRANK OVER MULTIPLE TIMES AND NEVER START. SOMETIMES VEHICLE WILL START AND OTHER TIMES IT CAN TAKE OVER 20 ATTEMPTS TO START. IN ONE INCIDENT IT TOOK 34 TIME TO START AND EVEN CAUSE BLACK SMOKE TO COME UP FROM UNDER THE HOOD. FROM RESEARCH WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATE AND THE LOCAL DEALER, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR AN ASSESSMENT AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM HAD TO DO WITH THE TIPM/FUEL RELAY SYSTEM. WE WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE PARTS TO REMEDY THE ISSUE AND THAT THEY HADN'T RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATE. FROM MY RESEARCH IT APPEARS THE RECALL NUMBER IS P54. YESTERDAY, ON 10/28/2014 WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR ROAD AT 50MPH THE VEHICLE WITH TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT COMPLETELY STALLED AND DIED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WE ARE BLESSED WE WEREN'T IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR KILLED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATE AND LOCAL DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND AGAIN WAS TOLD THEY COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. NOT A LOANER VEHICLE, NOT REPLACEMENT OF PART AT FULL COST.. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND WHEN YOU PUT MY CHILDREN'S LIVES AT STAKE IT BECOMES PERSONAL. THE VEHICLE IS NOW PARKED IN THE GARAGE BECAUSE WE FEAR FOR OUR LIVES. PLEASE HELP. *TR

1ST TIME: CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER GETTING GAS, I WAS RVING CAR JUST FINE BEFORE THIS OCCURRED. WENT TO START CAR, DID NOT TURN OVER, TRIED AGAIN PUSH THE START BUTTON AND CAR KEPT TRYING TO TURN OVER WITH NO LUCK, I LET THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN, IT STARTED. DAY TWO, STARTED CAR JUST KEPT TURNING OVER HAD TO PRESS "STOP" TRIED AGAIN AND IT STARTED. *TR
WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT NORMAL SPEED OF 55 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. LUCKY WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE TRIED RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO LUCK, THE ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START. A STATE PATROL OFFICER STOPPED AND AFTER HOOKING UP A JUMP PACK THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED BACK UP. THE FOLLOWING WEEK THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME THING AFTER STOPPING FOR GAS, IT WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START UNTIL A JUMP PACK WAS HOOKED UP. I HAVE HAD THE BATTERY TESTED, IT HAS TESTED FINE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH NOT WANTING TO START. JUST TODAY IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. AGAIN I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN AN AREA WHERE I COULD COAST OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *TR
VEHICLE ENGINE WOULD START WITH USE OF IGNITION BUTTON, THEN VEHICLE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF WITH OUT WARNING. AT THIS TIME VEHICLE WILL NOT RE-START WITH USE OF IGNITION BUTTON. VEHICLE WOULD JUST ENGAGE STARTER MOTOR AND NOT FIRE ENGINE WITH USE OF IGNITION BUTTON. STARTER WOULD RUN ON UNTIL BUTTON IS PUSHED TO ENGAGE THE OFF POSITION, WITH A NO START CONDITION. AFTER SEVERAL CYCLES OF THE IGNITION BUTTON VEHICLE ENGINE WILL FINALLY START AND STAY RUNNING. PROBLEM IS RECURRING OFTEN.THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY VEHICLE AND THE SAFETY OF ITS OCCUPANTS. THIS CAN LEAD TO LOSS OFF CONTROL OF VEHICLE, POSSIBLE COLLISION AND LOSS OF LIFE, AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE CROWDED INTERSTATES, OR MODERATE SPEEDS ON SMALL TOWN STREETS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE'S ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY TO CHURCH ON RUCKER AVENUE IN EVERETT WASHINGTON AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR. THE ENGINE STALLED AND CAR LOST POWER. WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SAME THING HAPPENED A WEEK LATER WHILE DRIVING ON COLBY AVENUE IN EVERETT. THE CAR HAD BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTY STARTING, IT WOULD CRANK OVER BUT NOT START. ON OCTOBER 1'ST I TOOK THE CAR TO DWAYNE LANES IN EVERETT, THEY TOLD THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE CAR STILL DID NOT START AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO DWAYNE LANES AND INFORMED THEM THAT THE CAR WAS STALLING WHILE DRIVING. THEY COMMENTED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND SUBJECT TO A RECALL (P54/NHTSA 14V-530). DWAYNE LANES ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WOULD BE IN AND SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK AND UTILIZE IT UNTIL THE PART CAME IN. I INFORMED DWAYNE LANES THAT I WOULD NOT BE DRIVING A CAR THAT LOSES POWER AT RANDOM TIMES ON PUBLIC ROADS. I INFORMED DWAYNE LANES THAT THIS WOULD PUT MY SAFETY AT RISK AS WELL AS EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. DWAYNE LANES INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE CAR HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT, AND IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER, TEMPE DODGE, AND DWAYNE LANES, AS WELL AS INSURANCE. NO PERSON WILL PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE, OR AN ESTIMATE OF WHEN THE CAR WILL BECOME DRIVABLE AGAIN. *TR
VEHICLE WILL START SOMETIMES AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND THEN SHUT BACK OFF. DEALERSHIP AGREED FAULTY TIPM IS THE CAUSE AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THE ISSUE, SO I HAD TO PAY $1200 OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR. *TR
I WAS TOLD THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NEVER HEARD OF THIS PART UNTIL MY VEHICLE STARTED ACTING UP. IT WOULD JUST NOT START EVEN THOUGH IT WAS TRYING. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A STARTER GOING BAD OR SOMETHING SMALL. NOPE! I LEARNED ABOUT TAFN AND THE NEARLY $1,600 IT COST TO REPLACE IT. IN SPEAKING WITH THE TECHNICIAN I FOUND OUT THAT IT COULD GO COMPLETELY OUT AT ANYTIME, AND IF IT DID, MY VEHICLE WOULD BE DEAD IN THE WATER NO MATTER WHAT I WAS DOING. SCARY THOUGHT. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. SO, NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE DON'T REALLY HAVE A CHOICE WHEN THIS PART GOES OUT. WHAT'S SAD IS THAT THE VEHICLE IS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD AND HAS RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE. AFTER GETTING OFF THE PHONE WITH THE TECHNICIAN I GOOGLED TAFN AND FOUND ALL KINDS OF ARTICLES AND LEARNED THAT CHRYSLER HAS BEEN STRUGGLING WITH THIS PART ON VARIOUS MODELS FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HOPEFULLY THEY END UP DOING THE RIGHT THING AND COVERING THIS AND REIMBURSING THOSE OF US WHO HAVE NO CHOICE AND HAVE TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART NOW. TO NOT DO SO IS PUTTING OUR LIVES AND THOSE AROUND US IN JEOPARDY. *TR
THE HASN'T BEEN AN "INCIDENT" YET. I HAVE A RECALL AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY ARE ONLY RECEIVING 4 PARTS EACH WEEK AND HAVE A WAITING LIST OF OVER 100 PEOPLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! BY THE TIME I AM ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED, I COULD HAVE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BY THEN. *TR
LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING IN A NON-CONGESTED AREA IN A 35 MPH ZONE WHEN MY 2011 DODGE CITADEL LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OF THE ROAD AND IT RESTARTED AFTER CRANKING FOR A WHILE. STARTING SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ON SOME MORNINGS. THE VEHICLE WILL CRANK AND CRANK THEN AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS IT WILL FIRE. THIS VEHICLE HAS A 5.7L V8 IF THAT MATTERS. I'M WORRIED I MIGHT LOSE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY. HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DURANGO MADE LOUD SCREECHING SOUND THEN BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. HAD THIS SOUND AND LIGHT MOST OF THE DAY. THEN CAR COMPLETELY DIED. NO ELECTRICAL OR POWER. HAD A SMELL OF SMOKE IN ENGINE BAY. DURANGO WILL NOT START. LIKELY A DEFECT OF TIPM MODULE MANY OTHERS HAVE BEEN REPORTING. WILL HAVE TO TOW THE DURANGO TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. *TR

WHEN STARTING THE CAR, IT ACTS AS IF IT IS GOING TO START AND CONTINUES TO TURN OVER THEN SHUTS OFF. WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT HOME AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START IT. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT STARTED UP AS NORMAL. I DROVE IT TO RUN ERRANDS AROUND TOWN. THE FOLLOWING DAY I LOADED UP MY TWO SONS, AGES 3 AND 10 WEEKS IN THE CAR AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START AGAIN. I LET IT SIT AND THE FOLLOWING DAY IT SHUDDERED AND SHUT OFF TWICE BEFORE JUST ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO TURN OVER WHILE THE RED LIGHTENING BOLT FLASHES ON THE DASH. NOW IT WONT START AT ALL. USUALLY WILL START AFTER TRYING FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES. RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A FAULTY TIPM. CHRSYLER CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OF NO HELP. THEY HAVE ISSUED A RECALL BUT HAVE NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I ASKED THEM TO CHECK ALTERNATOR BUT WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE. OCT 4, 2014 WE WHERE DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CAR WAS HAVING POWER LOSS AND ENGINE BEGAN TO SMOKE. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A BAD WATERPUMP. THEY ALSO DID RECALL WORK ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM. INITIALLY THE SUV WAS VERY SLUGGISH TO START, THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE TO WHERE THE SUV WOULDN'T EVEN START AT ALL AND WOULD CONSTANTLY TRY TO TURN OVER. THIS PROBLEM WOULD GET WORSE AND MAKE THE SUV TAKE ABOUT 3-4 TIME TO CRANK BEFORE IT WOULD EVENTUALLY TURN OVER. THIS PROBLEM WOULD CONTINUE FRO ABOUT A WEEK, EVENTUALLY THE BATTERY WENT DEAD CAUSING US TO HAVE TO JUMP THE CAR OFF. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY DUE TO THIS CONSTANT DRAIN YOU WOULD ALWAYS HERE THE FUEL PUMP TYRING TO PRIME IN THE REAR OF THE SUV NO MATTER WHAT. ONCE AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND DROPPED OFF THE CALL WAS RECEIVED FROM HOWARD WILSON IN FLOWOOD MS STATING THAT THE BATTERY WAS TOO WEAK FOR THEM TO EVEN WORK ON THE CAR (THIS IS WHEN THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED) CAUSING ANOTHER OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE DUE TO THE RECALL. I WAS ADVISED BY ONE OF THE TECHNICIANS FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE DRAW FROM THE FUSE WOULD DRAIN THE BATTERY. I EVENTUALLY HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED TWICE AND WAS OUT OF POCKET OVER $800.00. THE LAST TIME THE SUV WAS IN THE SHOP THEY REPLACED THE PUMP AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THEY HOPE THAT THIS FIXED IT BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT SURE IF IT WOULD OR NOT.

THE RECALL FOR THE EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS ANNOUNCED AROUND 09/20/14. ON 09/23/14 MY DURANGO STARTED HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. IT WOULD TAKE 2 OR 3 TRIES TO START BUT IT EVENTUALLY STARTED. ON 09/26/2014 IT TOOK MORE THAN 2 HOURS TO GET MY CAR TO START. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO PROMPTLY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE RECALL. I HAD ALREADY SPOKEN TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE WHO SAID THAT SINCE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE LIST OF VIN NUMBERS YET THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I JUST SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO CONFIRMED THAT IT IS INDEED THE PART UNDER RECALL BUT THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY $530 TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED AND THEN ASK FOR REIMBURSEMENT WHEN CHRYSLER GETS AROUND TO SENDING OUT THOSE LETTERS AT THE END OF OCTOBER. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE AGAIN TO ASK HOW THE REIMBURSEMENTS WORK. SHE SAID ONCE THEY RECEIVE MY CLAIM IT WILL TAKE SIXTY DAYS TO PROCESS. SO, I AM GOING TO SPEND THE MONEY I HAD SAVED IN ORDER TO BUY CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR MY 3 KIDS ON REPAIRING A PART THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED. I BOUGHT A 2011 DODGE DURANGO IN OCTOBER OF 2013. THERE HAVE SINCE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS, ALL TOOK SOME TIME TO RESOLVE BECAUSE THERE WERE PART SHORTAGES ON BOTH OCCASIONS. THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM THAT HAS YET TO BE OFFICIALLY TERMED A RECALL BECAUSE CHRYSLER CLAIMS THEY ARE STILL "RESEARCHING" THE ISSUE INVOLVES A FAULTY IGNITION WIRING HARNESS. THIS DEFECT PREVENTS THE PROPER COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE IGNITION AND FUEL SYSTEMS, WHICH RESULTS IN A VEHICLE THAT HAS PROBLEMS STARTING OR WON'T START ALTOGETHER. MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE LATTER CATEGORY AS IT IS CURRENTLY STUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACKORDER FOR PARTS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET IN DECLARING IT A RECALL, PRESUMABLY TRYING TO AVOID BAD PUBLICITY. IN THE MEANTIME, I'M STUCK WITH AN USELESS VEHICLE, AND CHRYSLER CORP REFUSED TO PROVIDE A RENTAL VEHICLE WHEN I CALLED THEM ON 13 OCT 2014 BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE ONLY THING THEY CLAIMED TO BE ABLE TO DO IS PROVIDE A AN EMAIL WHEN THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE, FOR WHICH THEY COULD PROVIDE NO ESTIMATE. THEIR CONCLUSION APPEARS TO BE THAT IT IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE TO SELL A VEHICLE THAT CAN BE RENDERED INOPERABLE THROUGH THEIR OWN NEGLIGENCE OR POOR MANUFACTURING PRACTICES WITHIN 3 YEARS.AS AN ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBER AN UNRELIABLE VEHICLE IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE OPTION. *TR
