CAR JUST SHUT OFF WHILE PULLING OUT INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION, WOULD NOT RESTART. THE STARTER WOULD ENGAGE BUT IT WOULD NOT START THE CAR...CAR ENGINE WOULD SPUTTER CONTINUOUSLY. LOSS OF POWER, AND ELECTRICITY. ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET HIT FROM THE SIDE WHILE MY 2 KIDS WERE IN BACK SEAT!!!!!! THE OTHER CAR SLAMMED ON BREAKS STOPPING MERE INCHES FROM THE DRIVER-SIDE. A 5 CAR PILE UP BEHIND HIM OCCURRED DUE TO THIS MATTER! A GENTLEMAN PUSHED ME TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED I RESEARCHED PROBLEMS THIS VEHICLE ONLY TO FIND THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS HAD THIS HAPPEN!!!!! AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF FOR A WHILE, I TRIED TO START IT AND IT WOULD START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND MY PUMPING THE GAS PEDAL TO KEEP IT AT A IDLE UNTIL THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RUNNING. I AVOIDED THE TOW FINE BUT DROVE MY CAR TO THE AUTOZONE 1/2 MILE UP THE ROAD (SAME SIDE OF THE ROAD...TOO SCARED TO CROSS INTERSECTIONS). THERE WAS NO DIAGNOSTIC CODE FOUND, WHICH COME TO FIND OUT IS ALSO COMMON WHEN THE TIPM IS FAULTY! EVERY TIME 3 OUT OF 5 TIMES I TRY TO START MY CAR I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SAME THING. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP. I HAVE A FAMILY AND A JOB THAT NEED THIS CAR TO OPERATE EFFICIENTLY. *TR

ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS IN JUNE PURSUANT TO A RECALL NOTICE HE RECEIVED IN THE MAIL. EACH DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THEY HAD HEARD NOTHING FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT THE RECALL, AND THEY DID NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS FOR THE RECALL. *JB
I HAVE A 2011 DODGE DURANGE THAT HAS A FAILING TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) AND DODGE IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER, WILL CONTINUE TO SELL THE CARS WITHOUT FIXING SO WE GET SO SPEND OVER 1,000.00 TO FIX IT! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2011 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THERE WERE NO FAILURES.
VEHICLE DOES NOT START. AND, WHEN IT STARTS IT STALLS. TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE IS FAULTY AND DOES NOT SEND ELECTRICITY TO THE FUEL PUMP, THUS STARVING THE ENGINE. AFTER A MONTH THE CAR IS TOTALLY UNUSABLE. *TR
OUR VEHICLE HAD IT'S FIRST NON-START IN JUNE 2014. IT HAS CONTINUED ON FOR MONTHS, AT RANDOM INTERVALS. OUR DURANGO NOW WON'T START BY USING THE PUSH START OR BY USING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I AM SEEING A TREND ONLINE OF TIPM ISSUES AND CLASS ACTION SUITS. I AM ASSUMING THIS IS OUR ISSUE. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
CHRYSLER ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON MY VEHICLE AND SAID THE DEALERSHIP WOULD INSTALL A PROTECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER SHIELD TO PREVENT WATER INGESTION AND PREMATURE CORROSION. IN THE LETTER, MAILED BY CHRYSLER, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO "CONTACT MY DEALER RIGHT AWAY TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT" AND THAT THE DEALER WOULD INSPECT MY VEHICLE, AND THEN EITHER INSTALL THE SHIELD OR REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER IF REQUIRED, FREE OF CHARGE. UPON RECEIVING THE LETTER, I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT ZIEGLER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP AT 208 W GOLF RD SCHAUMBURG, IL 60195 (847) 882-8400. I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY PARTS IN STOCK AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAFETY ISSUE IS NOT A PROBLEM UNTIL BELOW FREEZING WEATHER, AND "THAT HE DIDN'T EXPECT ANY BELOW FREEZING WEATHER FOR A WHILE". AND THEN HE COMPLAINED BECAUSE EVERY CALL HE IS GETTING TODAY IS ABOUT THIS RECALL. THEY CLAIM TO BE A 5-STAR SERVICE DEALER. SHOULDN'T THE RECALL PROCESS BE MORE COORDINATED WITH DEALERSHIPS? WHY DON'T THEY HAVE THE SHIELDS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL LETTER? THE SERVICE ADVISER IMPLIED THAT I CAN WAIT UNTIL WINTER BEFORE FINDING OUT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. THAT DOESN'T SEEM SAFE. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT CRANK. *TR
DURANGO HAD A DIFFICULT TIME STARTING, IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START ESPECIALLY AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT OR DURING THE WORK DAY. BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO A DEALERSHIP, THE TRUCK FAILED TO START (THANKFULLY I WAS AT HOME) AND WE HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER ROUGHLY 2 WEEKS THE TIPM WAS REPLACED/REPAIRED AND I PICKED UP THE TRUCK ON 6/10/14. THE TRUCK NOW STARTS FINE, HOWEVER, THE SIGNAL LIGHTS DO NOT WORK, NOW- AND THE FOG LIGHTS FLASH WHEN THE SIGNAL LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON! IN MANY CASES I HAVE HEARD THIS ALSO AFFECTS MY BRAKE LIGHTS!! MY LEGAL VEHICLE IS NOW ILLEGAL AND NOT AT MY OWN FAULT BUT THROUGH CHRYSLER/DODGE. *TR

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. I LOVE THIS VEHICLE. ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE ENCOUNTERED JUST RECENT, IS THE REAR AC. FOR SOME REASON, IT WILL TURN TO HIGH FAN SETTING AND THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE POSSIBLE. THE REAR CONTROLS ARE ON COOL AND THE FAN IS SET TO LOW. I ALSO HAVE THE SAME SETTINGS FOR THE FRONT. I HAVE READ DIFFERENT FORUMS ONLINE AND SEEN SEVERAL PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS MATTER. YESTERDAY MY DAUGHTER BEGAN TO CRY BECAUSE THE 3RD ROW WAS EXTREMELY HOT FROM THE HEATER BEING ON. DO YOU KNOW OF CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE POSSIBLE PROBLEM. PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU CAN ASSIST ME. *TR
THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING WHILE PARKED. VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IT WAS TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DODGE DEALER AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT DETERMINED THE PROBLEM OR CAUSE. BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW AND IT ONLY SEEMS TO GET WORSE. FIRST STARTED OUT ONLY HAVING TO TRY ONCE OR TWICE TO GET IT TO CRANK AND NOW I HAVE TO TRY AROUND THREE TO FOUR TIMES. THIS MORNING WAS THE WORST IT HAS EVER BEEN. AND ONCE IT FINALLY CRANKED I HAD ALL KINDS OF LIGHTS LIT UP. BRAKE, FCW OFF, CHECK ENGINE, BLIND SPOT DETECTORS WERE DISABLED AND STAYED ON AS WELL AS MY TRACTION CONTROL BEING TURNED OFF AND MY ABS LIGHT. WHEN I STARTED TO DRIVE I REALIZED ON TOP OF ALL THOSE THINGS MY SPEEDOMETER WAS ALSO NOT WORKING AND SAID I WAS AT 0. I HAVE ALSO HAD MY ALARM GO OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FOR NO REASON. THIS ISSUE IS REALLY STARTING TO GET WORSE AND WORSE AND I FEAR I WILL END UP STRANDED SOMEWHERE OR WORSE END UP IN A WRECK DUE TO MY CAR SHUTTING OFF, AND IF I GET IN A WRECK I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF MY AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY! WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, MY DURANGO CITADEL STALLED IN TRAFFIC, ALMOST CREATING A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, WOULD START THEN IT WOULD SHUT OFF WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF BEING ON, THIS WOULD BE REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STAY ON AND WE COULD DRIVE IT. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE FINE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD BE A CONTINUED PROBLEM THROUGHOUT THE SAME DAY. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT BACK IN APRIL 2014 . WE NOTIFIED THE DEALER THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED, BUT THEY DID NOT FIND A SOLUTION. WE INFORMED THE DEALER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM MODULE AND THAT WE FELT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER DENIED THIS WAS THE PROBLEM AND SAID THAT THE BATTERY WAS THE PROBLEM. WE ARE EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL LINE RELAY REMAINS ACTIVE AND ENGAGED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STANDING, THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING IF IT WERE TO BE REAR ENDED OR HIT BY A MOVING VEHICLE. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT OUR CHILDREN, ANYONE IN THE VEHICLE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN. WITH HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS WITH CHRYSLER/DODGE VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THE VERY SAME PROBLEM AND WITH A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON THE VERY PART THAT NEEDS FIXING, WE FIND IT UNCONSCIONABLE THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL!! *TR

2011 DODGE DURANGO W/5.7 LITER ENGINE STALLED AS I WAS TURNING ONTO THE FREEWAY ON RAMP. PULLED OVER AND STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE OR I HIT SOMETHING. STALLING OCCURRED AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND MAKING TURNS. HAPPEN ONCE WHILE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE GOING TO STORE. SHE WILL NOT DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE. WENT IN FOR REPAIRS SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO REAL CONCLUSION OR REPAIR BEING DONE. FINALLY WENT IN AFTER ONE OF THE STALLS AND BY THEN THE RECALL WAS COMING OUT AND THE TIPM AND SOME WIRING WAS REPLACED. THOUGHT IT WAS REPAIRED WHEN OVER THE WEEKEND IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS SLOWING FOR A STOP SIGN WITH MY WIFE & GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE CAR, THEN TO ME AGAIN 2 DAYS LATER. WE HAPPEN TO LIVE IN A RURAL AREA SO THERE IS NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC, THANKFULLY. IT IS IN DEALERSHIP NOW (SECOND WEEK) AND THEY ARE SAYING IT NEEDS NEW SPARKPLUGS (WHICH IT DOES) BUT THERE IS NO WAY A ENGINE SHOULD STALL DUE TO OLD SPARKPLUGS. IT'S A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE DRIVING ONE OF THESE. EVERYTHING UP TILL THIS TUNE-UP HAS BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT HAS STALLED A TOTAL OF AROUND 8 TIMES AND ALL WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND HAS BEEN IN DEALERSHIP ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT A MONTH TOTAL. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, AFTER THE REMEDY WAS PERFORMED THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE SNOWY AND ICY DURING MY DAILY COMMUTE. WHILE IN ROUTE TO MY PLACE OF WORK I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MILD INCLINE TOWARD A STOP LIGHT WHICH HAD JUST TURNED RED. I WAS TRAVELING AT A LOWER SPEED (30 TO 35 MPH) DUE TO DRIVING CONDITIONS. DUE TO THOSE ICY CONDITIONS MY ABS IMMEDIATELY KICKED IN AS I APPROACHED THE STOP LIGHT. FOR A MATTER OF SECONDS I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL FIRMLY DEPRESSED CONTINUOUSLY ALL THE WAY TO THE STOP LIGHT AND I COULD HEAR THE TYPICAL ABS NOISE UNTIL MY VEHICLE STOPPED. ONCE TRAFFIC RESUMED I COULD FEEL A DIFFERENCE IN THE PRESSURE NEEDED TO APPLY AND ACTIVATE THE BRAKES. AS I CONTINUED DRIVING THE PRESSURE I NEEDED TO APPLY FOR BRAKING INCREASED DRAMATICALLY BUT WITH LESS AND LESS RESPONSE FROM THE BRAKES. AFTER ONLY 1 ADDITIONAL TRIP I REALIZED THE NEED FOR SERVICE WORK AND SCHEDULED SERVICE. ON MY SECOND TRIP AFTER THE INITIAL INCIDENT BRAKING BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND THE DASHBOARD BRAKE WARNING LAMP CAME ON. MY THIRD TRIP WAS TO SERVICE WHICH WAS SCHEDULED AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FOUND TO BE THE ISSUE. INITIALLY THE SUPPLYING DODGE DEALER HAD TOLD THE REPAIR FACILITY WHICH DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE THAT THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE BUT ORDERS WERE BEING SHIPPED SOON TO FILL BACK ORDERS. THIS SUGGESTED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER MAY BE PRONE TO SOME TYPE OF FAILURE. ONLINE RESEARCH AND CHAT INDICATED THIS TO BE A COMMONLY ADDRESSED ISSUE. I PURSUED THIS CONCERN WITH DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AS A SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH 2 DIFFERENT MESSAGES. THE DODGE CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS A RECOGNIZED SAFETY ISSUE BUT ONLY AS A "OUT-OF-WARRANTY CONSIDERATION. SINCE ABS COMPONENTS ARE DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THESE TYPES OF DRIVING CONDITIONS, SAFETY CONCERNS STILL REMAIN REGARDING FURTHER ABS COMPONENT FAILURE UNDER NORMAL OPERATION. I HAVE RETAINED THE DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT 45MPH THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. I TALKED TO DODGE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT, BUT THERE ARE NO SAFETY RECALLS OR TSB'S ON THIS ISSUE. IT WENT OFF ON ITS OWN AND STAYED OFF FOR ABOUT A MONTH. SAME SPEED DIFFERENT TIME OF YEAR, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THIS TIME BLINKED AND THEN CAME ON SOLID INTERMITTENTLY FOR ABOUT ANOTHER TWO WEEKS. CALLED DODGE AGAIN AND THEY SAID THERE WAS STILL NO RECALL OR TSB FOR THIS ISSUE. IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER AND IT HAS ONCE AGAIN DECIDED THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WANTS TO COME ON AND STAY SOLID. HAD A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH DODGE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME FOR A DIAGNOSIS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED GOING ON AND OFF, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED. THE CAR THEN LOST ALL POWER, ACCELERATION, AND POWER STEERING. I WAS THE EXTREMELY PROUD OWNER OF A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. BY FAR THE BEST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. ON JANUARY 11, 2014 WHILE ON OUR WAY HOME WITH OUR (2) CHILDREN, WE WERE HEADING DOWN A MOUNTAIN COMING INTO A TURN. IT WAS FOGGY THAT NIGHT AND UNSURE IF THERE WAS ICE ON THE ROAD I WAS DRIVING A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 20 MILES AN HOUR. I DRIVE THIS ROAD EVERY DAY, AS I HAVE FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS. WHEN I STARTED TO APPLY MY BRAKES, THEY LOCKED UP/GRABBED AT WHICH POINT WE STARTED TO GAIN SPEED AND WENT DIRECTLY INTO A GUARD RAIL ULTIMATELY TOTALING MY VEHICLE. I THANK ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THIS WORLD THAT NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED, BUT EXTREMELY TERRIFIED AND THANKFUL THAT WE WERE NOT GOING ANY FASTER. THIS WAS THE WORST NIGHT OF MY LIFE AS WE STOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT A LONG THE ROAD WAITING FOR HELP. THE PSP DID NOT SHOW UP FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AND ONCE THE TOW TRUCK GOT THERE WE HAD TO WAIT EVEN LONGER. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STILL HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN, STALLS IN ROAD AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, ALSO WHILE DRIVING IT ACTS LIKE THE ENGINE IS SHUTTING OFF THEN IT COMES BACK, AND CONTINUES THIS PROCEDURE A FEW TIMES UNTIL IT FINALLY COMES BACK TO LIFE. 4LOW HAS NOT PROPERLY WORKED EVER, AND IS A DANGER WHEN IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, AND YOU NEED IT. THEY SAY THEY HAVE REDESIGNED THE 4LOW, EVIDENTIALLY THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE DEALERSHIP, SHEETS, SAYS THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE PART AGAIN.VEHICLE STARTS AND DIES, STALLS IN ROAD, ACTS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL AND COMES BACK, CONTROLS INSIDE VEHICLE DO WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO WHEN THEY WANT TO. FRONT SIGNAL LIGHT KEEPS BLOWING, AND WILL NOT TAKE A BULB, IT BLOWS THEM OUT EVERY TIME, SO WHEN BLINKER IS TURNED ON THE FOG LIGHTS FLASH UP FRONT, LIKE HAZARD FLASHERS. THE BACK PASSENGER BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED MANY TIMES, AND FOR NOW THEY ARE THE ONLY SIGNALS WORKING, EXCEPT FOR THE ONES ON THE MIRRORS. FUEL PUMP STAYS ON SOMETIMES AFTER VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. BASICALLY THE VEHICLE IS STILL A DANGER TO ANYONE INSIDE IT, AND TO ANYONE ON THE ROAD, DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP IN 4LOW/TOW-HAUL MODE, AND THEN THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP. HAD TO COME HOME APPROX. 1-2 MILES AT A VERY LOW SPEED, WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON, AND THEN HAD TO COAST IN DRIVEWAY BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION HAD NO GEARS, AND LOCKED UP. DODGE REALLY NEEDS TO RECALL THIS. IF THEY DESIGNED THIS VEHICLE CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME NONE OF THE MAINTENANCE WOULD BE NECESSARY, AND WE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO CALL DODGE SO MANY TIMES. IF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RECURRING THE ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED. *TR
