DURANGO STARTED JERKING WHEN GOING UP HILLS, HARD TIME SHIFTING GEARS, AND SOMETIMES WOULDN'T SHIFT AT ALL, AND OVERDRIVE NOT FUNCTIONING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER (UNKNOWN) AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (FUEL SYSTEM) BUT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) TS
AROUND JANUARY OF 2018 MY 2013 DURANGO R/T 4WD LOW LIGHT STARTING BLINKING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, PULLED OVER TO TRY AND GET IT TO TURN OFF BY PLACING IN NEUTRAL AND TURING OFF. THIS FIXED IT AND BEGAN TO DRIVE AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE LIGHT TURNED BACK ON, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER CAME ON. TOOK THE TRUCK TO ONE OF THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIPS AND THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN WORKING CONDITION AND MEETING MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATION. THEN AGAIN IN AUGUST 2018, MY TRANSFER CASE STARTED TO MAKE A TICKING NOISE AND WOULD ENGAGE INTO LOW BY ITSELF WHEN TAKING TURNS AND NO DASH LIGHT WARNING. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DRIVELINE SHOP AND THEY IDENTIFIED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REBUILT AND THAT IT BURNT OUT THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR. THE TRANSFER CASE WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN 4WD LOW BY USING THE SWITCH BUT WOULD ENGAGE ON ITS OWN. STILL, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR NOTIFICATION THAT THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR WAS IN OPERATIONAL. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR THE 4WD LOW ISSUE, I HAD THEM LOOK AT THE RPM GAUGE AND RADIO. THE RPM GAUGE WOULD JUST BOUNCE AND HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING AND THE RADIO WOULD JUST CHANGE STATIONS BY ITSELF. AFTER INSPECTION BY THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THAT THEY SEE THE ISSUE WITH THE RPM GAUGE AND RADIO, BUT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS MEETING ALL MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATION THEY ARE UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING.
WE OWN A 2013 DODGE DURANGO WITH 175,000 MILE ON IT AND HAS BEEN A GREAT VEHICLE UP UNTIL IT STARTED LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING. AFTER HAVING SEVERAL MECHANICS TROUBLE SHOOT THE ISSUE WE FOUND OUT THE THE ENGINE WAS ACTUALLY MISFIRING AND BECAUSE OF A BAD LIFTER. AFTER OUR MECHANIC CONTACTED OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THAT THE LIFTER FOR THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINE IS ON BACKORDER WITH NO ETA OF WHEN IT WILL BE IN AND BEING TOLD THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. THIS TELLS ME THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE INVESTIGATED HERE, AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH DODGES 5.7 HEMI ENGINE NOT JUST IN THE DURANGO BUT IN ALL OF THEIR VEHICLES AND THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS. THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE LEAD TO A MUCH BIGGER SAFETY ISSUE IF THE ENGINE STALLING WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AND CAUSE HARM OR DEATH OF MY HUSBAND WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. RIGHT NOW WE ARE JUST FIGHTING TO RECOUP OUR COSTS FOR THE REPAIRS ON A VEHICLE THAT WE ARE STILL PAYING FOR.
FRONT PASSENGER ACTIVE RESTRAINT HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT COLLISION OR OTHER KNOWN EVENT ON CITY STREET AT POSTED SPEED. MY TEENAGE SON SITTING IN SEAT WHILE RESTRAINED WAS STRUCK IN BACK OF THE HEAD WHEN HEADREST DEPLOYED FORWARD, BUT HE WAS NOT INJURED BY THIS EVENT. THE HEADREST CANNOT BE REPAIRED OR RESET, AND FIAT CHRYSLER AMERICA (DODGE) HAS DISCONTINUED THIS PART AND NO LONGER KEEPS IT IN STOCK FOR REPLACEMENT NOR DO THEY OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE PART TO MAKE THE SEAT/HEADREST SAFE AND SERVICEABLE.
ENGINE SHUTDOWN TWICE TODAY DURING LOW SPEED DRIVING 30MPH. NEEDED TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND MOVE KEY TO OFF AND RESTART. DURING SHUTDOWN DASH LIGHTS WENT DARK - NO RPM, SPEED OR WARNING LIGHTS WERE TURNED ON. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE 2017 INCLUDING WHEN ACCELERATING ON AN HIGHWAY RAMP, CURRENTLY SHUTTING DOWN DAILY TYPICALLY WHEN ENGINE IS COOL. HUMES DODGE IN WATERFORD PA COULD NOT REPLICATE ISSUE WHEN VEHICLE WAS CHECKED 10/2018. DEALER STATED BATTERY WAS LOW CAPACITY, BATTERY REPLACED AND ISSUE REPEATED. NO FAULT CODES SHOWN IN COMPUTER SCAN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND SMOKE BILLOWED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LARRY H. MILLER DODGE RAM TUCSON (LOCATED AT 4220 E 22ND ST, TUCSON, AZ 85711, (520) 395-9311) TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000. *DT*JB
I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 DODGE DURANGO CREW IN A CITY STREET WHEN SUDDENLY, IT TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED FLASHING AND I COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR AT ALL. ALL THE LIGHTS WHERE ON AND I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR.

VEHICLE TURNS OFF WHEN DRIVING. VEHICLES LOSSES COMPLETE ELECTRICITY/POWER WHILE DRIVING.
OUR DURANGO WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2013. BY THE FIRST 10,000 MILES I COULD TELL THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. IT WOULD SOUND OUT OF GEAR A LOT OF TIMES, AND WOULD LACK POWER WHEN ACCELERATING AS IF I WEREN'T GIVING IT GAS. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO REPEATEDLY DISMISSED IT AS BEING NOTHING. FINALLY AT APPROX. 30,000 MILES+, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP DISMISSED IT AS BEING A SENSOR PROBLEM. BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITHIN A WEEK. THE DEALERSHIP ATTRIBUTED THIS TO THE WEATHER! FINALLY AT APPROX. 45,000 MILES, THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD AND I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, INSTEAD OF PUTTING IN A NEW TRANSMISSION, THEY REBUILT OURS. SOME 40,000 MILES LATER, WE NOTICED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AGAIN. HOWEVER, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AND ONCE AGAIN, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS NOTHING. AS THE PROBLEM PERSIST, WE DECIDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR A TRANSMISSION SERVICING. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DO IT. WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD AGAIN, AND WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. BUT THIS TIME WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT, AS THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AT 100,000 MILES. NEVER MIND THE FACT THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE/REBUILT IT AT 45,000 MILES. GO FIGURE? FAST FORWARD TO THE PRESENT.....OUR TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT AGAIN. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD REPLACEMENT, AND FOURTH TRANSMISSION FOR OUR VEHICLE. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG. WE'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE TRUCK WILL STALL AT TIMES WHILE IN MOTION. IT WILL SIMPLY TURN OFF! THIS WAS TERRIFYING, AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD, DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
MY CAR STARTED TO STALL. I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED BUT IT STILL STALLED, ENDED UP HAVING IT TOWED TO A DICK POE DODGE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, 10/6/18...HAD TO RENT A CAR 10/8/18 BECAUSE THEY STILL COULDN'T FIND IT AND APPARENTLY IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. THIS PART WAS A RECALL IN 2015 BUT THEY SAID SINCE IT'S BEEN PAST 2 YEARS SINCE IT WAS REPLACED I HAD TO PAY THIS TIME. MY COMPLAINT IS WHY IS IT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY A RECALL REPLACEMENT IF IT IS STILL BREAKS EVEN THOUGH I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR LAST YEAR. HIGHLIGHT, MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON SO NOW I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.
FUEL PUMP ISNT GETTING ANY POWER. HAS BEEN REPLACED BRAND NEW EACH TIME AND CAR JUST SHUTS UP AND STALLS WONT TURN ON
2013 DODGE DURANGO R/T WITH OVER 100K MILES SEPTEMBER 21, 2018 VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TICKING IN THE ENGINE. THE TICKING WAS PRESENT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING OR DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. TWO MECHANICS, A NEW ENGINE, AND $8,649 LATER THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WERE FOUND WITH THE ORIGINAL STOCK ENGINE: "FOUND LIFTER ROLLER LOCKED UP AND DAMAGE LOBE ON CAMSHAFT' AND 'METAL IN THE OIL PAN'. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT LOCKED UP LIFTERS ARE TAKING CHUNKS OUT OF THE CAMSHAFT, AND THE PIECES OF METAL THAT ARE KNOCKED OFF ARE GOING INTO THE ENGINE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT COULD RESULT IN COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. DODGE NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS.
I HAVE THE 5.7 LITER ENGINE. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND THE WIRING HARNESS WERE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE THE PUMP TO SHUT DOWN AND THE ENGINE WOULD STOP RUNNING. ON 11/17/2016 I TOOK MY CAR TO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM IN SEATTLE FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND INTEGRATED WIRING HARNESS. I HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY THEY INSTALLED IN MY CAR WAS DEFECTIVE, AND FAILED COMPLETELY ABOUT 22 MONTHS AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED. MY CAR WAS PARKED AND SEVERAL TIMES MY ATTEMPTS TO START THE CAR WERE FRUSTRATED. THE ENGINE WOULD START, BUT RAN VERY ROUGHLY FOR A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE STOPPING. RAIRDONS CHRYSLER JEEP IN KIRKLAND CHARGED ME $294.28 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, AND ADVISED THAT IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2018, RAIRDONS CHRYSLER JEEP IN KIRKLAND INSTALLED A REPLACEMENT AND CHARGED ME $282.96, CLAIMING THAT THEIR INFORMATION WAS THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS INSTALLED MORE THAN TWO YEARS PREVIOUSLY, AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE PART AND INSTALLATION BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY WARRANTED FOR 2 YEARS. RAIRDON'S IS INCORRECT, THE REPLACEMENT WAS INSTALLED LESS THAN 2 YEARS BEFORE FAILING. THIS SEEMS UNFAIR AND IMPROPER. THE REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO THE SAME CONDITIONS AND TERMS AND SAFETY STANDARDS AS THE CAR AND PARTS ARE. I THINK THE DIAGNOSIS AND REPLACING THE PART SHOULD NOT BE CHARGEABLE TO ME BECAUSE THE PART IS SUBJECT TO A SAFETY RECALL

WE PURCHASED OUR 2013 DODGE DURANGO NEW IN 2013. THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. IN 2015, WE RECEIVED A RECALL ON VEHICLE MAY INSTALL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE PART ADDRESS WAS THE TIPM. AFTER THE SO CALLED FIX, OUR VEHICLE NEVER RAN PROPERLY. THE CAR WILL RUN ROUGH, OR SLUGGISH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL SHOP THEY SAID IT WAS OXYGEN SENSORS. WE REPLACE TWO BUT IT NEVER TOTALLY FIX THE CAR. IT WILL NOT START AT TIMES. FINALLY IT STARTED STALLING. I CONTACTED THE DEALER THE TIPM ISSUES AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED AND THAT THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I DID AN EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE POINTED TO THE TIPM WHICH IT MAKES SENSE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING A REPLACEMENT PART BUT IN THE MEANTIME I FLED A COMPLAINT TO ADDRESS THE UNWILLING SUPPORT FROM MY DODGE DEALER. I FEEL THAT DOGE FAILED TO PROPERLY ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.
2013 DODGE DURANGO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ALTERNATOR DIODE THERMAL FATIGUE SAFETY RECALL. *LD *TR
I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE BRAND NEW. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IT REFUSED TO CRANK. I COMPLETED THE RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP & ALTERNATOR. HOWEVER, THIS WEEKEND IT BEGAN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THEN SUNDAY IT COMPLETED STOP. I WAS TOLD MY TOW COMPANY, THIS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH DODGE. WHY HAVE THEM BEEN MADE TO FIX THIS ISSUE.
The head rest exploded out of no where - sounded like a gunshot while I was driving and pushed my whole head forward .
WHILE DRIVING, THE IGNITION SWITCH MAY FAIL AND THINK THAT THE KEY HAS BEEN REMOVED. THIS RESULTS IN A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND THE ENGINE CUTTING OFF. THE RESULT IS VERY LIMITED STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITY. THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN 6 TIMES AND INCLUDED 4 VISITS TO THE DEALER BEFORE THEY COULD IDENTIFY WHY IT WAS SHUTTING OFF RANDOMLY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST BECAME DISLODGED AND SPRUNG OPEN OUT OF NO WHERE. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS IN THE SEAT AS THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP IT APPEARS THE PLASTIC RETAINING PIN RECEIVER HAD BROKE. SMALL PIECES OF PLASTIC WERE INSIDE THE HEADREST AND IT IS UNABLE TO BE RESET. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT COVER THIS UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND IT WOULD BE ALMOST $800 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS HEADREST IS ALSO CONNECTED TO MY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM. IT IS UNKNOWN IF ANY FURTHER ISSUES COULD HAPPEN FROM THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE STILL STALLED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF FOR THE FIRST TIME AS I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 25 MPH WITH MY STEERING WHEEL AND BREAK PEDAL LOCKING. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE ON P AND THEN START IT WITH NO PROBLEM. NO ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AT ANY MOMENT. THE SAME THING HAPPENED A SECOND TIME AS I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WITH MY STEERING WHEEL AND BREAK PEDAL LOCKING. SAME THING - I WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WITH NO PROBLEM, NO ENGINE LIGHT TURNING ON. MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION WITH MY STEERING WHEEL AND BREAK PEDAL LOCKING. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN P AND STARTED IT WITH NO PROBLEM, AND NO ENGINE LIGHT TURNING ON.
I WAS NEVER SENT A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VEHICLE TO START, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT LOST ALL POWER AND THE ALTERNATOR CAUGHT FIRE. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT PELLIGRENO JEEP IN WOODBURY HEIGHTS, NJ. I HAVE BEEN IN CONSTANT BACK AND FORTH WITH FCA THE AGENCY THAT IS HANDLING THE RECALL THEY ARE REFUSING TO GIVE ME A LOANER AND ARE PUSHING BACK ON COVERING SOME OF THE REPAIRS. THIS HAPPENED OVER 5 WEEKS AGO AND IT IS EFFECTING OUR HOME AND PROFESSIONAL LIVES.I HAVE BEEN ROUTINELY LIED TOO AND HUNG UP ON, WE ARE ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE, MY CONTACT NUMBER IS (XXXXX). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (LOCKMANDY DODGE, 920 N NAPPANEE ST, ELKHART, IN) WHERE THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS FLUSHED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
THE TIPM HAS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO STALL. MY WINDOW WIPERS COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND THE FUEL GAUGE HAS GONE DOWN TO NO FUEL EVEN WHEN THERE IS FUEL IN THERE. ALL THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON IN THE VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. HORN IS HONKING AS WELL AS ALARM ALL WHILE DRIVING. HAZARDS LIGHTS AS WELL.
TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN: THE AXLE SHAFT NUT IS NOTORIOUS FOR RUSTING BADLY ON THESE VEHICLES. WATER GETS TRAPPED BEHIND THE CENTER CAP ON THE WHEEL AND MOISTURE CAUSES THE SHAFT ENDS AND NUTS TO CORRODE AT AN ACCELERATED RATE. MINE ARE ALMOST COMPLETELY UNRECOGNIZABLE AS NUTS AT THIS POINT, AND SHOULD I HAVE TO REMOVE THE NUTS TO SERVICE ANYTHING (EMERGENCY BRAKE COMPONENTS FOR EXAMPLE) I WILL END UP HAVING TO YANK OUT AND COMPLETELY REPLACE MY CV SHAFTS. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED DESIGN FLAW THAT MAY ALSO BE THE RESULT OF INFERIOR METALS USED TO MANUFACTURE THE AXLE SHAFTS (FCA WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT). IF MY AXLES WERE TO FAIL AT A HIGH SPEED OF RATE, DUE TO INFERIOR METALS USED BY THE FCA, I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE A DESIGN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. GOOGLE "DURANGO AXLE SHAFT NUT RUST" OR "WK2 AXLE SHAFT NUT RUST" AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. THE PHOTOS ARE HORRIFYING. I FIND THIS TO BE VERY DISTURBING, AND LIFE THREATENING. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED STARTING WITH 2014 VEHICLES, AND MINE IS A 2013. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED, AS IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER FOR YOU ALL TO FIX THIS RATHER THAN FIX A LAWSUIT IF I HAVE A VEHICLE FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED. MALE DRIVER EXITED VEHICLE AND LEANED BACK INTO DRIVER'S SEAT TO RETRIEVE BELONGINGS FROM BEHIND PASSENGERS SEAT. UPON DOING SO HE PLACED HIS HAND ON THE HEADREST OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT SYSTEM ACTIVATED ON THE DRIVER SEAT. UPON EXAMINATION BY MECHANIC IT WAS DETERMINED THAT PLASTIC HINGES HAD BROKEN IN THE HEADREST. VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW 8/2013, 150K MILES. REPLACEMENT HEADREST: $650 PLUS LABOR.
FOR MONTHS NOW, I HAVE HAD TO COMPLAIN TO MY DODGE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED MY 2013 DODGE DURANGO AND GET IT SERVICED ABOUT HOW IT SUDDENLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS HIGHWAYS. NO CODES ARE SHOWING UP AND BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECK OUT FINE. CABLES ALL HAVE A GOOD CONNECTION AND FUSES ARE SAID TO BE GOOD. I GET TOLD "HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL IT GETS WORSE" OR "YOU'LL HAVE TO LEAVE IT WITH US SO WE CAN DRIVE IT AND WAIT FOR IT TO DO IT" BUT THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND IT MAY DO IT NUMEROUS TIMES ONE DAY AND WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN OVER THE NEXT MONTH. IT'S RANDOM. I HAVE NOTICED THERE WAS AN ALTERNATOR RECALL ON 2011-14 YR MAKES OF THE DURANGOS BUT MY VIN SHOWS MINE IS CLEAR AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL HAS BEEN FIXED. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT.
I HAD AN ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE HEADLINER BEHIND THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR TODAY 7/18/18. MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PRIOR IN 2014 RELATED TO THE RECALL CONCERNING THIS WIRING. SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING, SMOKE STARTED ROLLING OUT FROM BEHIND THE HEADLINER. I PULLED INTO AN AUTO SHOP AND THEY LOCATED THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY SON, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL POWER. WITHOUT TOUCHING THE KEYS OR ANYTHING, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO "REBOOT" AND STARTED OPERATING NORMAL AGAIN AS I PULLED OVER. THIS SEEMS TO BE THE EXACT PROBLEM OUTLINED BY THE MULTIPLE RECALLS ISSUED BY FCA ON THE ALTERNATOR (RECALL 17V435000 AND RECALL 14V634000) HOWEVER, THEY REFUSE TO SERVICE MY ALTERNATOR OR EVEN CHECK THE PART NUMBER OF THE ALTERNATOR TO CONFIRM IF IT IS AN AFFECTED PART!!! I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER CAR AND LIVE IN CONSTANT FEAR THAT THIS ISSUE IS PUTTING MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN IN DANGER EVERY DAY!!!

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH MELTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GEORGIA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (LOCATED AT 12114 US-301, STATESBORO, GA 30458, (912) 871-7250) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO WIRING FAILURE AND NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
VEHICLE KEPT SHUTTING OFF, TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIPM AND IT WOULD BE A $1401 CHARGE TO TAKE CARE OF IT. I GOOGLED 2013 DODGE DURANGO AND THERE'S BEEN RECALLS WITH IT AND LAWSUITS BUT THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT. SO I HAVE TO PAY $1400 FOR A DEFECTIVE PART THAT IS KNOWN FOR THIS VEHICLE SO MY FAMILY CAN BE IN A SAFE VEHICLE.

WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET IT WILL ENGAGE INTO LOW MODE ALL BY ITSELF, CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK AND DRIVE VERY SLOWLY. THE TRACTION LIGHT ALSO COMES ON. I AM UNABLE DISENGAGE THE LOW MODE. I HAVE TRIED PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO DISENGAGE HOWEVER MOST OF THE TIME IT DOESN'T WORK. THE CAR WILL AT SOME POINT USUALLY AFTER ABOUT 10-20 MINS OF TRYING TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND SWITCHING THE AUTO AWD/LOW KNOB BACK AND FORTH RESUME REGULAR DRIVING MODE AT SOME POINT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR 2 YEARS (7/2016) AGO SPORADICALLY. THE DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T THROW ANY KIND OF ERROR CODE AND THEY ARE SAYING THEY HAVE TO SEE THE CAR ACTUALLY DO IT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ENGAGES IN A LOW MODE BY ITSELF CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK AND DRIVE SLOWER ALL OF A SUDDEN AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE PART OF THE SYSTEM CAUSING THE ISSUE IS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING ON NO MORE THAN 65 MPH THE ENGINE HAS SHUT DOWN FOR NO REASON, AND WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, AND ALL 4 TIMES THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES DON'T WORK. ONCE THE CAR HAS STOPPED AND GEAR PLACED INTO PARK I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR RESTARTS. ALL FOUR TIMES THE ENGINE IS THE ONLY THING THAT TURNS OFF, THE RADIO CONTINUES TO PLAY.
FUEL PUMP KEPTS MALFUNCTION
SAFETY RECALL R09 / NHTSA 15V-115 FUEL PUMP RELAY - 2012-2013 DODGE DURANGO COMPLETED ON MY 2013 DURANGO SHORTLY AFTER NOTIFIED BY CHRYSLER. AT OR AROUND JUNE 2018 THE VEHICLE STARTED EXPERIENCING SAME SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED IN SAFETY RECALL R09 EVEN AFTER EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS INSTALLED. AT FIRST, SYMPTOMS WERE INTERMITTENT AND SPORADIC, HAPPENING EVERY FEW WEEKS. AS TIME PROGRESSED STARTER WOULD CRANK UNTIL IT TIMED OUT WITHOUT VEHICLE STARTING. SOMETIMES VEHICLE WOULD START BUT ACT AS IF IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS SPITTING AND SPUTTERING AND WOULD HAVE TO TURN VEHICLE OFF TO END SPUTTERING. NOW THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS HOWEVER THEY ARE MORE OFTEN (ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK, AND OFTEN DAILY) AND HAVE LEFT ME STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES . HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT NO CODES AND WAS TOLD "WITHOUT A TROUBLE CODE WE CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE BRING IT BACK WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN." THE NO START EXTENDED CRANKING UNTIL STARTER TIMES OUT AND THE SPUTTERING ALL OCCUR STATIONARY DURING START UP.
IN THE AWD VERSION OF THE DURANGO THE SUV WILL SHIFT INTO AWD LOW WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION WITHOUT THE CONTROL KNOB BEING TURNED. THE CAR WILL FLASH THE LOW LIGHT AND THEN SHIFT INTO AWD LOW. THE CAR WILL NOT COME OUT OF AWD LOW AT ALL. THIS ISSUE RANDOMLY OCCURS. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSFER CASE AND THE SENSOR AND THE ISSUE STILL IS OCCURRING WITH THE CAR. THE ISSUE WILL OCCUR WITH THE CAR IN MOTION OR IN PARK AND IS AT RANDOM TIMES. THE CAR WILL NOT COME OUT OF AWD LOW WHEN FOLLOWING THE MANUFACTURE DIRECTIONS, IT WILL COME OUT OF LOW AT RANDOM TIMES OR NOT AT ALL.
FUEL PUMP RELAY REPLACED TO EXTERNAL POSITION. VEHICLE NOW WILL NOT START AT TIMES, STARTS AND DIES. REPLACED BOTH GUEL PUMPS A MONTH AGO AND STILL PROBLEMS. RELAY IS NOT SWITCHING ON BUT TESTS UT IS GOOD.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I FELT MY HEAD JERK FORWARD AND HEARD A POP FROM MY HEADREST. AT THE TIME I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT GOING ABOUT 68 MPH. WHEN I FELT THE IMPACT BEHIND MY HEAD MY INSTINCT WAS TO HIT MY BRAKE THINKING SOMEONE HAD HIT ME FROM BEHIND, BUT ONCE I LOOKED AROUND THERE WAS NO ONE CLOSE BEHIND OR TO THE SIDES OF ME. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND LOOKED AT THE HEADREST AND NOTICED IT HAD POPPED OPEN. THIS ONLY OCCURRED ON THE DRIVER SEAT HEADREST. AGAIN, I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY COLLISION AT OR AROUND THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN IN COLLISIONS YEARS PRIOR TO THIS, BUT NONE FROM BEHIND.
