Oil cooler failure .I am concerned because my mechanic says this is a common problem with this type of motor. Why isn't it recall.
I was driving my vehicle and the engine light came on and the car started overheating. I had to immediately pull over. There was fluid underneath my Vehicle again. This occurred twice in 6 months. The engine coolant lines have a whole in them. This is the 2nd repair for the same issue in 6 months. The Vehicle has been sitting for over 3 weeks at dodge. They have not answered or responded to our claims. The Vehicle poses a safety risk as it instantly overheats and you lose power. The coolant lines under the Vehicle are not secured at all and rub against other parts under the vehicle.
Twice this year this has happened. I was driving to work when suddenly the lights on the dash came on and the car started over heating. There was a ton of engine coolant under the car. Took the car to get repaired. They said the coolant lines rub against something under the car and caused a hole. They said it was a defect in the way the car is designed and there is nothing to hold up the coolant lines running to the rear of the vehicle. They told us we needed to contact dodge and file a claim. We did and heard nothing back from them. Fast forward 6 months and it happens again. Car is currently at a dodge dealership. Same issue. Filed another complaint and claim with them. Its been 3 weeks. 0 response. Car is still at the dealership.
At 30,000 had one blown head gasket and a few thousand miles later another blown head gasket. Regular maintenance and oil changes have been done and maintenance. Then last year my cam Shalf had to be replaced and now again a head gasket again. Several cylinders are missing firing. When I took in and they replaced the cam Shalf, I took it saw it said cylinder 5 was missing firing , now it’s showing cylinder 3 with all my lights on my dash on again and the car has 110,000 miles on it.

I took my car into Fairfield Dodge (Fairfield Texas). I have taken my car in about 3 times already. The first two was to do test on it. I can be driving my car and smell Gas as if I stepped in it. the smell makes me sick. I can park my car and the smell is just ask bad on the outside as it is in the inside. the car dealership said oh we have found the problem. They had my car for 1mth and 2 days and changed the fuel take and canaster, oh that is it. They said it is fixed " WRONG. " I smell the same smell, and just as strong as I did when I took it in. So, I called, and they told me oh well we can set you up to bring it in so we can check it out. They DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. I only have like 57,000 miles on my car and if this is a ongoing thing I think these falls under a LEMON LAW, I bought this car new. This is very dangerous I would like to get answers on my car and not have to leave it for a month or so just to have the same thing happen again and again. It is so bad if someone was to throw a cigarette down in the parkin lot it might caught on fire. I hope I can get answers before taking it in and getting no answers. Coolant leak, due to water pump failure , has 61000 miles There are other older models that already have extended warranties for same issues This should apply to newer models as this issue persists
From my understanding, I went to several different mechanics who all said the same thing. 2019 and maybe older years, the way the truck was made, the coolant hose runs all the way from the resovoir to the back of the truck which is causing a metal pipe and the coolant hose to touch and when the metal pipe gets hot, it’s eating at the hose cause a significant leakage under the truck. And the hose is behind the vent under the truck which means pieces would need to get removed from the truck in order to get to the hose.
Upon making slow turn I experiance a rapid unintended acceleration. Engine raced to about 4000 RPM. In order to get vehicle under control brakes were applied to maximum and vehicle was shifted into neutral which caused engine to throttle higher but driver was able to turn off vehicle and safely come to a stop. After restarting vehicle throttle reurned to normal functioning. I was lucky there were no other vehicles around or a wreck would have happened. I do not know if this related to recall 22V426000. `Dodge dealeership advised that there currenlly is no fix for this recall. If this incident is related to the recall Dodge needs to find a fix ASAP.+
ON JULY 2, 2020, I WAS DRIVING MY DODGE DURANGO UP AN ISOLATED STEEP MOUNTAIN ROAD IN THE SIERRA NEVADA AT ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY STALLED ON A STEEP GRADE IN THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKES TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS. THERE WERE NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE CAR HAD BEEN OPERATING AT NORMAL TEMPERATURE. AFTER TRYING TO THE RESTART THE CAR, THE ENGINE AT FIRST BEGAN TO OPERATE, THEN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY HESITATED AND DIED. I TRIED AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTS, AND EVEN ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE GAS PEDAL TO NO AVAIL. AS SOMEONE WITH SOME PREVIOUS MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE, IT SEEMED TO ME THAT IT WAS A FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM. THE CAR HAD NEARLY HALF A TANK OF GAS HOWEVER. I POPPED THE HOOD AND OBSERVED NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY THAT WOULD INDICATE ANY PROBLEMS. THERE WAS OIL IN THE CRANKCASE AND AMPLE COOLANT. MY WIFE AND I DECIDED TO WAIT AND LET THE ENGINE AND VEHICLE COOL DOWN SINCE IT WAS OVER 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE CAR WITHOUT PROBLEM AND CONTINUED ON MY WAY. THE CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN IN AUTOMATIC MODE BUT HAD SHIFTED TO THE LOWER GEARS. I DECIDED TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN MANUAL MODE AND KEEP THE CAR IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR DUE TO THE STEEP TERRAIN. WE HAD NO PROBLEMS THE REST OF THE WAY. WE WERE BEYOND CELL PHONE RANGE ON A VERY ISOLATED ROAD AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN A TOW, SO I AM VERY GRATEFUL THE CAR CONTINUED TO OPERATE AFTER OUR INITIAL PROBLEM. HOWEVER, WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN OR WHETHER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION IN AUTOMATIVE MODE ON A STEEP GRADE PLAYED ANY ROLE.
MY VEHICLE IS A 2019 DODGE DURANGO THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THAT THERE IS A VACUUM LEAK AT THE ENGINE DEFINED BY THE EVAP (EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM).
