DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE EXHAUST PIPE PROTRUDES BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. THE CHILD MAY TOUCH THIS PIPE. UPDATED 5/10/2006 - THE EXHAUST PIPE PROTRUDES BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE AND IS TOO CLOSE TO THE OUTSIDE EDGE (ROCKER PANEL). THE PIPE IS LOCATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS THE SIDE THE CONSUMER CHILD SAFETY SEAT IS INSTALLED. WHEN THE SLIDING DOOR IS OPENED THE CHILD COULD BE BURNED BY THE PIPE. THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THE PIPE IS ONLY LIKE THIS ON THE STOW AND GO MODEL GRAND CARAVAN. UPDATED 5/10/2006 - THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND REROUTED. THE ENGINE RAN ROUGH WHILE IDLING AND IN PARK. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ERRATIC. AT 1/4 OF A TANK OR LESS THE NEEDLE MOVES BACK AND FORTH FROM EMPTY TO 1/4 OF A TANK. *NM

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER IT WOULD RAIN, A PUDDLE OF WATER WOULD APPEAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER LOCKING SYSTEM HAD BECOME INOPERABLE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IN 2006 AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, ONE MONTH LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE SINCE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE TO PERFORM REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 232,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER MY WARRENTY EXPIRED THE LIGHT INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG HAD DEPLOYED CAME ON, BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED YET BECAUSE HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT DODGE WAS CONCIDERING A RECALL, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ELSE. *AK.
TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE FOR A COUPLE OF CONTINUOUS HOURS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT A CONSTANT SPEED AND MILD HILLS. WHEN I WENT TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ON A LEVEL AREA OF FREEWAY THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WANT TO DISENGAGE. AFTER APPLYING VERY STRONG FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL FOR A SECOND OR TWO (AND BEING IN SHOCK BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SLOWING AND I WAS FAST APPROACHING A LARGE TRUCK IN MY LANE) I FINALLY DISENGAGED IT BY PUNCHING THE OFF BUTTON ON THE STEERING COLUMN. IF THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD NOT DISENGAGED OR IF TRAFFIC WOULD HAVE BEEN HEAVIER AN ACCIDENT MAY HAVE HAPPENED AT THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT OF 75 MPH IN A REMOTE AREA WITH ALL OF MY FAMILY ABOARD HEADING ON VACATION. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE DIFFICULT TO TURN ON/OFF. THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED CUTTING OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER SAID THE ALARM SYSTEM PREVENTED THEM FROM REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIMES THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE FOURTH TIME THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE FOURTH TIME, THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED FLASHING FROM LOW BEAM TO HIGH BEAM INTERMITTENTLY FINALLY GOING COMPLETELY OFF. THIS LAST TIME, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WENT OUT. TEN SECONDS LATER ALL OF THE LIGHTS RETURNED AS NORMAL.
THIS IS THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF HEADLIGHT FAILURES ON A DODGE G.V. VAN. TODAY, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON WHEN THE SWITCH WAS PULLED UNTIL I CUT IT ON AND OFF 4-5 TIMES. THE DRIVING LIGHTS WOULD BLINK ON-OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE SWITCH WAS OFF FOR THOSE LIGHTS. THEN THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT TOTALLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH AFTER 7 :00 PM....IN THE DARK!! AS I SAID, THIS IS ABOUT THE 3RD-4TH TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AND IT IS NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO CONTINUE. I HAVE HAD IT TO TWO(2) DEALERS AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THANKS FOR LISTENING.*JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE IMPACT SENSOR FOR THE FRONT AIR BAGS WERE FAULTY AND NEED REPLACED; HOWEVER NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. UPDATED 4/6/2006 - BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT AIR BAG SENSORS WERE REPLACED ON 3/14/2006. *NM
HAVE 2005 GRAND CARAVAN. IT HAS 24,000 MILES. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. ALSO, THE DRIVER INTERIOR MAP LIGHT DOESN'T WORK, EVENTHOUGH THE BULB IS OK. (AM HAVING THAT CHECKED TOMORROW, TOO.) WHEN THE LIGHT FIRST WENT OUT, THE AUTOMATIC SIDE DOORS STOPPED WORKING. THEY DIDN'T WORK FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND WHEN I DECIDED I HAD TIME TO GO TO THE DEALER TO GET IT CHECKED, THE DOORS STARTED WORKING AGAIN AND HAVE SEEMED FINE SINCE. THE LIGHT , HOWEVER, STILL DOESN'T WORK. THE REAR PASSENGER MAP LIGHTS ALSO COME ON RANDOMLY (USUALLY OVERNIGHT). THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT END. WE HAD SOME PARTS REPAIRED ON IT IN DEC. (THOUGH THE DEALER DID SAY THEY WEREN'T SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS), BUT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. (AM HAVING THAT CHECKED TOMORROW AS WELL.) *NM
2005 GRAND CARAVAN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS BEEN SERVICED ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. DOOR LOCK AND AIR BAG INDICATOR MALFUNCTIONS. *TS ***NAR*** *JB
FRONT AIR BAG SENSOR REPLACEMENT COMPLETED FOLLOWING MULTIPLE SESSIONS OF AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON, BUT GOING OUT AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME. BY TIME IT STAYED ON THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE THAT I DRIVE. DEALER HAD TO SOLDER WIRE INTO SYSTEM TO MAKE REPAIR. *NM
RACK AND PINION STEERING ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING CLOCK SPRING FOR AIRBAG LIGHT IS BROKEN. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WITHOUT WARNING, THERE WAS A LOUD CRUNCH NOISE THAT CAME FROM THE BRAKES WHILE STOPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 3/17/2006 - *NM
ON JAN 22,05 I HAD MY 05' DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IN THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAD COME ON, THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED MY SENSOR ALONG W/ MY WIRING HARNESS, WELL ON FEB 26 06 MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, THE DEALERSHIP DEAL MAKER SAID I COULD BRING MY CAR IN BUT I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO BE CHECKED ALONG W/ ANY REPAIR, AND THIS IS BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I DON'T FEEL I AM RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIR ON THIS. NONE THE LESS FOR THEM TO SUPPOSEDLY REPLACE MY SENSOR LAST YEAR, ALONG W/ MY WIRING HARNESS AND SPARK PLUGS BEAUSE OF MISFIRING ETC. TO HAVE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN NOV OF 04 AND THEN TO HAVE IT IN ON JAN 05 IS A LITTLE RIDICULOUS. I HAVE 40 SOME THOUSAND MILES ON MY CAR. AND THIS ISSUE SHOULD OF BEEN DONE CORRECT THE FIRST TIME. *NM
AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY,WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AND STRUCK THE VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED THERE. *JB
I WAS DRIVING ALONG AT 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. CAR SPUTTERED AND DIED. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE LOSING ALL HYDRAULICS, THANKFULLY. IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER THAT MY FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED AND THAT THE VAN RAN OUT OF GAS. MY GAS GAUGE WAS GIVING A FALSE READING. THEY ARE REPLACING FUEL PUMP. WE'LL SEE IF THIS PROBLEM SURFACES AGAIN. I HOPE NOT. THIS WAS DISTRESSING TO ME BECAUSE, IF I WASN'T ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY, I WOULD HAVE LOST ALL POWER CONTROL OVER BRAKING AND STEERING. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS WAS A "VENDOR" PROBLEM WITH THE FAULTY PART. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WERE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STUCK IN FIRST GEAR THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP WHICH REPLACED THE VEIL BODY. TWO YEARS LATER THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE WHILE IDLING. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED ALTHOUGH THE RPMS INCREASED THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE TRANSMISSION STUCK IN SECOND GEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION. LATER, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS. AFTERWARDS THE TRANSMISSION HAD SLIPPAGE AND WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE. EVERY INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 40 MPH OR LESS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. UPDATED 03/09/06
PURCHASED 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN USED IN OCT, 2005. VEHICLE HAD APPROX. 9000 MILES ON ODOMETER. FOUR MONTHS LATER THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD ONLY WORK INTERMITTENTLY. MILEAGE WAS APPROX 13,500 MILES. DEALER REPLACED DASHBOARD SWITCH UNDER WARRANTY. APPROX. ONE YEAR LATER HEADLIGHT PROBLEM RETURNED...VERY INTERMITTENT..SO CONTINUED DRIVING. ANOTHER YEAR LATER, DRIVING AT NIGHT, ON VACATION, 2000 MILES FROM HOME, HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. SWITCHING LIGHT SWITCH ON-OFF NUMEROUS TIMES FIXED LIGHTS TEMPORARILY. LOST LIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES THAT NIGHT. TEXAS DEALER DIAGNOSED BAD SWITCH. REPLACED AT APPROX 52800 MILES. PAID FOR THIS REPAIR. ONE YEAR LATER SWITCH AGAIN INOP. MILEAGE APPROX 67700 MILES. LIGHTS WILL NOT WORK AT ALL. CANNOT DRIVE CAR AT NIGHT. THIS MAKES THREE TIMES IN THREE AND A HALF YEARS OF OWNERSHIP THAT HEADLIGHTS BECOME INOPERATIVE. INTERNET SEARCH BRINGS UP HUNDREDS OF OTHERS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. DEALER SAYS NO REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH CARAVAN HEADLIGHTS AND CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. OWNER RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS A COPY OF AN EMAIL I SENT TO CHRYSLER CONCERNING AN ACCIDENT ON 2-3-06 MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN. CHRYSLER HELD UP REPAIRS AND SENT A "SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR" TO LOOK AT THE VAN. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT CHRYSLER NOW SAYS THE AIR BAG WORKED AS DESIGNED AND THEY ARE DENYING OUR CLAIM. WE ARE GETTING THE RUN AROUND ON THE PHONE AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT DISCUSS IT WITH US NOW. ALL I WAS ASKING WAS FOR THEM TO RECALL THIS FEATURE AND MAKE IT DEPLOY TO CAUSE LESS INJURY AND OR DISABLE IT ON OUR VAN. THANK YOU JIMMY SUTHERLAND MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN OUR 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY THE VEHICLE PERFORMED WITH EXCEPTION TO THE DRIVERS KNEE AIRBAG. THIS AIRBAG IS LOCATED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN AND BEHIND BOTH A METAL AND PLASTIC DASHPLATE, WHEN DEPLOYED THESE DASHPLATES WERE FORCED INTO MY WIFE'S LOWER LEGS CAUSING INJURIES FROM THE KNEES DOWN. NO OTHER INJURIES WERE SUFFERED BY ANYONE IN EITHER VEHICLE OTHER THAN THESE LEG INJURIES. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IF THIS AIR BAG WASN'T THERE SHE WOULD HAVE HAD NO INJURIES EITHER. OR IF THIS AIR BAG WAS INSTALLED SIMILAR TO THE DRIVERS STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG AND NOT BEHIND THE TWO PLATES THEN NO INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFERED. I ORIGINALLY CALLED DODGE WHEN THIS ISSUE STARTED AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT WHEN WE WOULD PUT THE VAN IN REVERSE THE ENGINE WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE AND IF YOU WERE NOT LISTENING FOR IT TO "CATCH" YOU WOULD PUT ON THE GAS AND BE GOING FORWARD. AFTER CALLING A FEW TIMES WE JUST GAVE UP AND BEGAN A HABIT OF SHIFTING INTO REVERSE AND MAKING SURE THE VEHICLE WAS INDEED IN REVERSE. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF THIS WE STARTED HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE SPEED. THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO IF IT WAS UNDER ANY KIND OF STRAIN, UPHILL OR GRADE. AFTER REPLACING EVERYTHING FROM FUEL INJECTOR TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO SPARK PLUGS, WIRES AND SENSORS AND SPENDING CLOSE TO $1000 ON IT WE ENDED UP IN A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHICH FOUND OUR PROBLEM TO BE A CRACKED FLEX PLATE. THAT WAS $1500 MORE BUT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. THE REVERSE IS NOW WORKING PROPERLY AS WELL SO I FEEL THAT THIS FLEX PLATE MAY HAVE BEEN THE REVERSE ISSUE AS WELL. *TR
I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PROPERLY SECURE A CONVERTIBLE CARE SEAT IN THE REAR FACING POSITION IN THE STOP-N-GO SEATS, EVEN UTILIZING THE LATCH SYSTEM. I HAVE TRIED TWO DIFFERENT SEATS. I CAN NOT GET THE SEAT TO THE REQUIRE LEVEL WITH THE GROUND AS INDICATED ON THE SEAT AND CANNOT GET IT SECURE ENOUGH TO PREVENT THE SEAT FROM MOVING MORE THAN AN INCH.*JB
2005 DODGE CARAVAN THE POWER SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES STARTED WITH ONLY OPENING OR CLOSING A SMALL AMOUNT NOW THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL. THE DOORS ARE NO LONGER POWER DOORS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THEM OPEN IS MANUALLY. I DID A SEARCH TO TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND FOUND 1000'S OF COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUES. MY VAN HAS HAD PROBLEMS FROM THE GET GO WHEN WE PURCHASED IT , THEY WOLD FIX IT AND IT WOULD WORK FOR A WHILE AND THEN THE SAME PROBLEMS WOULD START AGAIN THIS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER AND NOW THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN TO START A RECALL OR A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST THEM? *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS, DASH BOARD LIGHTS AND DOME LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FLICKER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES FOR REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, BODY CONTROL MODULE, ALTERNATOR, INSPECTED AND CLEANED THE GROUND CIRCUITS. THESE MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN XLT. THE VEHICLE'S SLIDING AND HATCH DOORS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE ELECTRONIC REMOTE USED TO OPEN THE DOORS FAILED. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS STILL ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE POWER LIFT GATE MOTOR AND GEAR, THE HARNESS CABLE AND MOTORS, AND THE SLIDING DOOR TRACT WIRING WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR FAILURE HAD BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS ASSIGNED TO CASE # 15984563. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT ELECTRONIC DOOR FAILURE WAS AN ONGOING CONCERN. WHEN CHECKING THE OWNER'S MANUAL THE CONTACT DISCOVERED IT IS A STANDARD FEATURE WITH THE VEHICLE FOR THE SEAT BELT TO ALLOW SOME SLACK. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED. *AK

AUTOMATIC LIGHT SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE, LIGHTS COME ON AT NIGHT AND RUN BATTERY DOWN. THIS IS A 2005 CARAVAN AND ONLY 41000 MILES ON IT. THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT TODAY. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND IT JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, ALMOST GOT US RUN OVER. AT OVER $25000 YOU EXPECT A CAR TO LAST LONGER THAN 10 MONTHS. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE! THE DEALER SAID AFTER 36000 MILES ITS NOT COVERED. THAT'S BULL!. NOW ITS GONNA COST US $500 OR MORE TO FIX JUST THE FUEL PUMP, NOT THE DEFECTIVE LIGHTS. THIS VAN IS A LEMON!!!!!!!!! *NM
I HAD PURCHASED MY VEHICLE DECEMBER 26, 2004. I AM THE NOT-SO-PROUD OWNER OF A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE. THERE WERE 20 K(GIVE OR TAKE A THOUS MILES) MILES ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT, AND IT CURRENTLY HAS JUST SHY OF 79K. ALL OF THE LISTED COMPLAINTS HAVE HAPPENED SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR 3 MONTHS OR LESS... 1---WHEN I PURCHASED THE LEMON, I HEARD A THUDDING SOUND, WHILE DRIVING (COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER WHEEL WELL SIDE). I WAS ASSURED THAT THIS WAS ROAD NOISE. I PERSISTED SOMETHING WAS WRONG, ON THE 3RD ATTEMPT, THEY HAD TIGHTED/REPLACED A "SWAY BUSHING" (FORGIVE ME I THINK THAT IS WHAT IT WAS CALLED). I DIDN'T HEAR THE NOISE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND IT RETURNED. I HAD BROUGHT IT IN ABOUT 3 ADDITIONAL TIMES TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS, FINALLY TELLING ME THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEIR SUGGESTION TO BE WAS TO TURN UP THE RADIO!! OUT OF PURE IT GETS ON MY !@#$ NERVES ATTITUDE, TOOK IT TO ANOTHER PLACE I 6/07, AND REPLACED THE STRUTS AND SHOCKS....STILL HEAR THE THUDDING....2.5 YEARS AFTER INITIAL COMPLAINT! 2----MY HEADLIGHTS MOST OF THE TIME, DO NOT COME ON. OR IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THEY GO OFF WITHOUT NOTICE...HOW IS THIS SAFE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY...AGAIN COULD NOT DUPLICATE. 3----MY WIPERS RUB FUNNY WHILE IN USE, WHICH FINALLY CAUSED MY BACK WIPER TO JUST NOT WORK ON 7/4/2005. SHORTLY AFTER GETTING VEHICLE INSPECTED THERE WERE SEVERE TEMPERATURE CHANGES IN OUR AREA. WITH THE TEMPERATURE BOTH OF OUR FRONT HEADLIGHT LENS CRACKED, THIS MAKES THE VEHICLE WERE IT WILL NOT PASS THE STATE SAFETY INSPECTION THIS YEAR. THE LENS THEMSELVES RUN ABOUT 250.00 EACH. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. HE FELT A JERK WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. HE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND FOUND THE BACK WHEELS LOCKED. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. THE DEALER MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIRS CONSISTED OF: BLEEDING OF THE BRAKES, REPLACEMENT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER, AND REPLACEMENT OF THE AIR BAG WIRING. NONE OF THE REPAIRS HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *AK
HIT FROM BEHIND AND BOTH OURS SEATS BROKE. REPORTED TO DODGE AND THEY TOLD US SEATS WERE DESIGNED TO DEFLECT REARWARD SO AS TO ABSORB IMPACT. THEY FAILED TO TELL US HOW WE ARE SUPPOSE TO BRING VEHICLE TO A STOP OR TO KEEP FROM GOING TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS WE WERE FLAT ON OUR BACKS. JUST DON'T BELIEVE THAT LOGIC. IT SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT TO ME. *JB
DOORS FAIL TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WITH POWER LOCKS OR KEY TRANSPONDERS. *TR
DOOR LOCKS CONTINUOUSLY STOP WORKING. REPEATED FAILURE OF POWER LOCKS IN 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THIS IS APPARENTLY A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM. THERE IS OVER 70 COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE AS OF TODAY'S DATE ON THIS SITE. NO MATTER IF SOME MAY BE DUPLICATES OR NOT BUT THIS IS A PROBLEM. THE BCM HAS TO BE REPROGRAMMED OR IT NEEDS TO HAVE A SOFTWARE UPGRADE. THE ONLY OTHER TEMPORARY SOLUTION IS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY OR FUSE. THIS MODEL HAS ONLY ONE EXTERNAL KEY HOLE ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. AND MANUALLY LOCKING THE VAN DOORS MAKES LOADING AND UNLOADING SMALL CHILDREN DIFFICULT. ALSO SHOPPING AND YOU FORGET TO LOCK ONE OF THE DOORS AND FORGET FOR A BRIEF MOMENT THE LOCKS DON'T WORK AND PRESS YOUR KEYCHAIN AND GO ON WITH YOUR SHOPPING AND WHEN YOU COME BACK TO LEAVE YOU STUFF IS ALL GONE CAUSE YOU HAD A STUPID MOMENT AND FORGOT I PAID FOR AN OPTION ON MY CAR THAT JUST COST ME $1,500.00 BECAUSE IT FAILED TO LOCK. IT ALSO POSES A SERIOUS HAZARD IN THE EVENT A QUICK ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE IS NEEDED. WHILE IT ALSO POSES A RISK FOR OUR SAFETY IF WE WERE TO ENCOUNTER A CARJACKER. WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE IF NECESSARY. IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ADULTS NOR CHILDREN WITHOUT OPTIONS ON A VEHICLE THAT WE PAID EXTRA FOR TO NOT ONLY TO HAVE AS A CONVENIENCE BUT AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION. FIRST NOTICED POPPING/RUBBING NOISE IN FRONT END. TOOK IN AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT STABILIZER BUSHINGS AND ETC.. THAT WAS IN OCT 2005. I HAVE TAKEN BACK TO WILSON DODGE IN JACKSON, MS 3/4 TIMES SINCE. THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. THE SERVICE MAN SAID HE HEAR NOISE WHEN TURNING 1/4 TO RIGHT. BUT WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP VEHICLE THEY HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING TO IT. I HAVE A FRIEND THAT'S A MECHANIC. HE SAID THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM IS GOING OUT AND IS BAD. I HAVE STATED THIS TO WILSON DODGE. THEY WANTED ME TO SIGN THE LAST PAPER WORK BUT I WOULD NOT SIGN BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT FIXED PROBLEM. I AM TAKING TO OTHER DODGE DEALER SHIP THIS WEEK TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND PROBLEM. ALSO I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES ALREADY AT 26,000 MILES. AND THEY SAID I NEEDED NEW ROTORS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I HAD A 1998 DODGE CARAVAN AND ONLY HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES ONCE ON IT AND IT HAD 98,000 MILES ON IT. *JB
WE OWN A STOW AND GO GRAND CARAVAN, WHILE STOPPING SUDDENLY MY TWO YEAR OLD WENT FLYING FORWARD STILL STRAPPED IN HIS 5 POINT CAR SEAT AND STILL STRAPPED TO THE VEHICLE SEAT USING THE LATCH SYSTEM. HE HIT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WHERE HE REST SCREAMING TILL I COULD PUSH THE SEAT BACK IN PLACE. HE HURT HIS CHEEK AND NOSE! I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF WARNING THAT THE SEAT WAS NOT ENGAGED, SEEINGS I NEVER USE THIS SEAT TO ENTER THE BACK SEAT I'VE NEVER THOUGHT TO CHECK THE STATUS OF THE CHAIR! NOW HE IS AFRAID TO GET INTO HIS CAR SEAT AND I'M AFRAID THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AS WELL. I'M SO GLAD IT WASN'T AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I'M AFRAID HE WOULDN'T BE WITH US TODAY. (1)DURING A ROUTINE HOME MAINTENANCE, I NOTICED THERE IS A BUILD UP OF SOOT ON TOP OF THE INTAKE ASSEMBLY. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, POWER STEERING RESERVOIR WAS CRACKED AND THE FLUID IS NEAR THE LOW LEVEL. (2) POWER STEERING FLUID AT LOW LEVEL (3) PART REPLACED AT DEALER, NO I DO NOT HAVE THE OLD PART. I PAID OUT OF POCKET AS CHRYSLER WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER PARTS DEEMED DAMAGED BY OUTSIDE FORCE. *JB

THE PARKING RELEASE BRAKE ON MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IS VERY CLOSE TO THE LEVER ONE STEPS ON TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE. WHEN RELEASING THE PARKING BREAK THE LEVER HAS HIT MY HAND SEVERAL TIMES. THE LAST TIME MAY HAVE BROKEN MY MIDDLE FINGER. *NM
I PURCHASED MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT NEW IN 2005. FROM THE TIME IT WAS NEW I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. IN THE BEGINNING THEY WOULD RANDOMLY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY HEADLIGHTS WORKED FOR THEM AND SINCE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR IT, AND THAT I NEEDED TO BRING IT IN WHILE IT IS HAPPENING (IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT-THERE ARE NO DEALERSHIPS OPEN!). OF COURSE AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT, I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING PROBLEMS. THEY STILL GO OFF AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, AND THEY RARELY TURN ON WHEN THE SWITCH IS TURNED OFF, AND SOMETIMES STAY ON WHEN THE SWITCH IS TURNED OFF, OR THEY DO TURN OFF THEN TURN THEMSELVES BACK ON WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO SIT AND TURN THE SWITCH ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY (SO MUCH THAT MY WRIST HURT)BEFORE THEY WILL COME ON, THIS HAS TAKEN UP TO 15 MINUTES (WHILE IN A DARK PARKING LOT). I CONTACTED DODGE AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I KNOW THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, AS IT BEGAN WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW. BUT, DODGE DOESN'T CARE. IN MY DAILY COMMUTE TO AND FROM WORK I AM ON I-35 WHERE THERE IS CONSTRUCTION GOING ON, WITH NARROW LANES AND CONCRETE WALLS AND NO SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ONTO, MY HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF AND NOT COMING BACK ON CAN GET ME KILLED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I CALLED CHRYSLER ASSISTANCE 800 # AND WAS TOLD THAT MY COMPLAINT WAS DENIED BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE AND WARRANTY BEING OUT. I ARGUED THAT THE PROBLEM BEGAN WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW, SO THEY SHOULD FIX IT. IT HAS BEEN ESCALATED TO A SUPERVISOR, AND I AM AWAITING THEIR DENIAL AT THIS TIME. WHILE SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR A POSSIBLE CAUSE/FIX I FOUND NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AND THE SAME COMPLAINTS. MINIVANS ARE REGULARLY PURCHASED BY FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN (AS WAS MINE). THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED. I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT HELP VOLUNTARILY. *TR

I WAS BURNED ON THE FOREARM WHILE REACHING UNDER MY VAN FOR AN ITEM THAT HAD FALLEN ON THE GROUND. THE EXHAUST PIPE RUNS VERY CLOSE TO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND IS NOT PROTECTED BY ANY SORT OF HEAT SHIELD. *JB

I OWN A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN THAT IS APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR OLD. ON 8/18/06, I WAS DRIVING AND A COOLANT SPRAYED ONTO MY LEG CAUSING BURNING AND PERMANENT SCARING. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DEALER TECH INDICATED THAT THE HEATER CORE TUBE BROKE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AT THE HEATER CORE. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER NUMBER AND WAS ADVISED THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE WITHIN 12 DAYS. WITHIN ONE WEEK OF THE ACCIDENT A MANUFACTURERS REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VAN. TODAY IS 9/27/06, I HAVE LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES TO THE NUMBER PROVIDED BUT HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS OR IF THE CAR WILL BE SAFE AGAIN TO DRIVE. I PURCHASED A CPO 05 GRD CARAVAN FROM A LOCAL DEALER. WITHIN MONTHS THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS WOULD GO UP AND DOWN WHILE UNLOCKING THE DOORS BY THE KEY, WOULD GO UP AND DOWN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD & WHILE OPENING THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS WHILE INSIDE THE VAN..* * THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP WHILE PULLING OUT ONTO THE ROAD. MY WIFE AND KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY THE APPROACHING FULLY LOADED LOG TRUCK. THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO THE LITHIA IN ROSEBURG & WAS INFORMED OF THE ISSUED. IT WAS INSPECTED AND THE REPLY WAS THAT "THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS & THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET THE DOOR LOCKS TO GO UP AND DOWN. THE VAN WAS TAKEN IN A 2ND TIME ON 07/28/2006 WITH THE SAME ISSUES, AGAIN THEY KEPT THE RIG AND TOLD US THEY COULD NOT GET THE DOOR LOCKS TO DO ANYTHING. ON 04/07/2006 THE VAN WAS TAKEN IN TO LITHIA AFTER KENDALL SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT WORK ON THE VAN BECAUSE OF US BUYING IT FROM LITHIA. SO THE VAN WAS RETURNED TO LITHIA WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS ALONG WITH THE RT REAR BRAKE LIGHT STAYING ..YOU KNOW THE SAD THING IS I STILL OWN 15K ON THIS VAN. THE STEERING ON THE VAN LOCKED UP AGAIN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE VAN. I JUST PRAY THAT WHEN WE TAKE IT IN FOR THE "4TH TIME" AND WE LEAVE IT AT THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX, THAT THEY WILL GET IT DONE RIGHT AND THAT IF WE EITHER KEEP THE VAN OR TRADE IT OFF THAT NOBODY GETS KILLED FROM THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN SHAFTED DUE TO HAVING A CPO AND DODGE DEALERS ARE NOT ABLE TO DO THEIR JOB DUE TO SKILLS OR ?. I REACHED IN THROUGH THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR TO GET A BLANKET THAT WAS STUCK IN THE BACK SEAT, AND I PULLED THE #1 STRAP ON THE BACK SEAT WITH MY LEFT HAND, THE BACK OF THE SEAT SLAMMED DOWN ONTO MY RIGHT HAND, HYPEREXTENDING MY THUMB, FRACTURING IT AND CAUSING A PARTIAL TEAR IN THE LIGAMENT. *NM
