2 TPMS VALVE STEMS ON MY 2009 DODGE CARAVAN BROKE OFF IN THE MECHANICS HAND WHILE UNSCREWING THE VALVE STEM CAP AS HE WAS CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE. THIS OCCURRED AT THE DODGE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THIS IS 3 OUT OF 4 VALVE STEMS ON THIS VAN THAT HAVE BROKEN. FIRST WAS ON 10/20/10, OTHER TWO TODAY (3/8/11). METALIC STEMS NOT MADE TO STAND UP TO NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. PARTS AND LABOR IS $152 EACH TIRE, JUST FOR THE VALVE STEMS! *TR
2009 DODGE CARAVAN MODIFIED BY THE BRAUN CORPORATION TO INCLUDE A MANUAL RAMP FOR WHEELCHAIR PASSENGERS WAS TRAVELING ON A 2 LANE ICY BRIDGE AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP FOR A 1997 CHEVY TRUCK THAT HAD ALREADY SLID OUT ON THE BRIDGE AND WAS LEFT SITTING ACROSS BOTH LANES. THE DODGE CARAVAN HIT THE VEHICLE HEAD ON WITH SUCH FORCE THAT THE DRIVER HAD THE PARTS FROM AN ARTIFICIAL HIP COME OUT. WHEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY BUT THE FRONT END IS SERIOUSLY DAMAGED AND THE VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR ..UPDATED 04/26/12 *BF. UPDATED 06/27/12 *BF CAR FAX REPORT RECEIVED. I BOUGHT MY 2009 VAN IN OCT. IN DEC. I HAD TO HAVE BOTH VALVE STEMS REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE LEAKING AIR, I HAVE SINCE THEN READ ONLINE ABOUT OTHERS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS ISSUE WITH THE TIRE SENSORS. YESTERDAY I WENT TO TAKE THE CAP OFF MY FRONT TIRE WHICH HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED TO REGULAR VALVE STEMS AND THE WHOLE STEM CAME OFF IN MY HAND AND BOOM FLAT TIRE. THANK GOD I WAS NOT DRIVING WHEN IT WENT AND HAD MY CHILDREN OR SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD WITH ME. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT A DESIGN FLAW LIKE THAT WOULD BE NOT BE RECALLED BY NOW. JUST TRYING TO TAKE THE CAP OFF AND BOOM IT'S IN MY HAND. STILL CANNOT BELIEVE IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO OF THE VALVE STEMS DETERIORATED AND CAUSED THE CAP TO FRACTURE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR STATION WHERE THE FIRST VALVE STEM WAS REPLACED FEBRUARY 2011. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED ON APRIL 2011 AND THE SECOND VALVE STEM WAS REPAIRED AT THE SAME REPAIR STATION. THE CONTACT CALLED AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000. ON 1/18/20010 I EXPERIENCED UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION OF MY 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT GALEANA DODGET, FT. MYERS FL ON 1/24. I WAS TOLD THAT FUEL INDUCTION PARTS NEEDED CLEANING AND THAT WOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. ON 1/24 AFTER ONLY 377 MILES SINCE SERVICE I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH. WHEN I BEGAN MOVING TO THE FAR LEFT LANE AND BRING THE VEHICLE UP TO THE POSTED SPEED OF 50 MPH I NOTICED THE GAS PEDAL DEPRESS BEYOND MY INTENTION. I ATTEMPTED TO STOP ACCELERATION BY APPLYING THE BRAKES TO NO EFFECT. IT SLOWED THE RATE OF ACCELERATION WHICH RESUMED AS SOON AS I RELEASED THE BRAKE. AS THE HIGHWAY BUSY I HAD A HARD TIME CONTROLLING THE CAR AND PULLING BACK TO THE RIGHT LANE SO I COULD SAFELY STOP THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AT OVER 4,000 RPMS. EVENTUALLY AFTER SEVERAL TIMES STARTING AND STOPPING THE IGNITION THE ENGINE RETURNED TO APPROPRIATE IDLE SPEED. AS WE WERE IN A DANGEROUS PLACE AND CLOSE TO THE PLACE WE WERE STAYING (ON VACATION) AND DID NOT KNOW WHO TO CALL I DROVE THE CAR PACK AND PARKED IT WAITING INSTRUCTIONS FROM DODGE ON HOW TO PROCEED. AT THIS TIME I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AS WE HAD A VERY HARROWING EXPERIENCE. PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AT A GASOLINE FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM AS THAT IS THE WAY THE REPAIR SHOP DESCRIBED IT. *TR
I RECENTLY EXPERIENCED AN UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION OF MY 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. I PASSED A TRUCK THAT WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 35 MPH. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO RESUME AN APPROPRIATE SPEED BY RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR I REALIZED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE. I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO LITTLE EFFECT AND EVENTUALLY REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BY SHUTTING THE IGNITION OFF. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A DODGE DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS COMMON AND ALL IT REQUIRED WAS ROUTINE MAINTANCE. DODGE DID NOT SEE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CHARGED ME FOR THE SERVICE DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *LN
BOUGHT VEHICLE ON 12-14-2010(USED FROM A CAR DEALER) VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN INSPECTED(72 POINT CHECK) THIS VAN HAD 34,916 MILES ON IT. DEALER DID RECALLS AND WARRANTY WORK. WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE TIRE "LIGHT" GOING ON & OFF. WAS ADVISED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE MONITOR, THAT THE TIRES JUST NEEDED A LITTLE AIR FOR THE HIGHER ALTITUDE. THEY OVER FILLED TIRES. TIRE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME WE WERE ADVISE, BY A TIRE DEALER, THAT THE VALVES(MONITORS) WERE CRACKED & LEAKING AIR. ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON UNTIL WE GOT TO THE DEALER, HE SAID TO TURN OFF THE MOTOR AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS TIME IT WENT OFF. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT ENGINE LIGHTS, WE ARE SCARED THAT THE DEALERS ARE AGAIN LYING TO US. WE DO NOT WANT TO END UP WITH THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPING ON US ON THE HIGHWAY, INFRONT OF AN 18 WHEELER! THIS ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED TO OTHERS AND THEIR TRANSMISSION JUST QUIT. WE BELIEVE THAT THESE DEALERS, ARE IN DENIAL. WHY DID THE DEALER TELL MY HUSBAND JUST TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT USING A CODE TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS? WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN 2 TIMES ABOUT THE 'LOW TIRE" LIGHT & EACH TIME THEY JUST BLEW IT OFF AS NEEDING AIR! IT WAS AN INDEPENDENT TIRE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY EXAMINED THE TIRE TO FIND THE CRACKED VALVE-HE DID NOT HAVE ANY THING TO GAIN, AS THE VALVE STEM WAS RETURNED AGAIN TO THE DEALER. WHEN WE LOOKED BACK AT THE REPAIR TICKETS (2) WE NOTICED THAT OUR REPORTING OF THE TIRE LIGHT BEING ON WAS NOT EVEN ON EITHER OF THE REPAIR TICKETS! BTW: OUR 1999 DODGE RAM 1500 TRUCK HAS THE IRREGULAR & ACCELERATED IDLE AS WELL AS THE "OUT OF NO WHERE" ACCELERATION, WHICH WE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. WE COPIED DOZENS OF THESE COMPLAINTS OFF THE INTERNET, AS WELL AS THEIR SOLUTIONS/FIXES AND GAVE THE STACK OF PAPERWORK TO THE DEALER.(WE HAD BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERS DOZENS OF TIMES PREVIOUSLY) AS THE PROBLEM KEPT COMING BACK. THE INTERNET REPAIRS IT WORKED. WE HOPE THESE CAN BE 2. *TR
TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE FILLING TIRE WITH AIR, THE STEM OF TIRE SNAPPED IN HALF, LETTING ALL THE AIR OUT OF THE TIRE. HAD TO HAVE A NEW SENSOR INSTALLED ($130+). FOUR MONTHS LATER, LOW PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE TO FIND THAT ANOTHER STEM WAS CRACKED. HAD THAT REPLACED FOR ANOTHER $130. WHILE HAVING TIRES ROTATED, THEY FOUND ANOTHER STEM LEAKING. DEALER REPLACED IT FOR FREE AND TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THE STEMS ARE ALUMINUM AND THE STEMS ARE TREADED ON THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE, THEY DO NOT HOLD UP TO ROAD SALTS AND WEATHER. DODGE DID CORRECT THIS PROBLEM IN THE 2011 MODEL VEHICLE BUT HAS NOT RECALLED THE 2009 TIRE STEMS/SENSORS. STILL HAVE THE CAR AND ALL FOUR SENSORS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. HORRIBLE ENGINEERING AND DODGE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THEM ALL. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE THEY DO NOT THINK ANYONE WILL BE KILLED BY THEIR POOR DESIGN. NOT MUCH OF A CHANCE OF BEING SUED FOR THEIR POOR ENGINEERING. *TR
WHEN MOVING THE CVT TRANSMISSION, DASH MOUNTED GEAR SHIFT LEVER FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY FELL APART. THE HANDLE FELL TO THE FLOOR, AS DID THE BUTTON AND THE INTERNAL SPRING. THIS OCCURRED TODAY 8/12/2010 FOR THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME (SO FAR). I MANAGED TO RE-ASSEMBLE THE SPRING, BUTTON AND LEVER UPHOLSTERED GRIP ONTO THE LEVER ITSELF BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO KEEP IT IN PLACE. I FOUND NO SCREW ON THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. IT WILL REQUIRE SERVICING TO REPAIR AT A DEALERSHIP. IN THE MEANWHILE I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO JUST USE THE LEVER ITSELF BUT I HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THAT BECAUSE I NOW HAVE A POINTED PIECE OF METAL STICKING OUT OF MY DASH. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SINCE THE INCIDENT. *TR
VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. DEALER STATED THAT ALL 4 BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND WOULD NEED TO BE TURNED. IN ADDITION FRONT BRAKE PADS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. HAD TO PAY FOR THIS MYSELF. AT 40,000 MILES VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING STARTED TO REOCCUR. DEALER AGREED TO REPLACE ALL 4 ROTORS AND PICK UP ALL BUT $250.00 OF THE COST AS A GOODWILL GESTURE. FROM READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, THERE IS SOMETHING DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE ROTORS ON THE 2009 DODGE CARAVAN/GRAND CARAVAN. *KB
MY VAN HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES WITH FRONT BRAKES SHAKING THE VEHICLE SO BAD IT IS HARD TO DRIVE. IT HAS STARTED AGAIN WITHIN 8000 MILES OF THE LAST REPAIR. NOW HAS 36000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE OWNED 6 CARAVANS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE OTHERS. SOMETHING IS CAUSING THE ROTORS TO WARP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE CAUSING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF AIR PRESSURE LOSS IN THE TIRE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR REPAIRS WAS ON BACKORDER FOR A PERIOD OF TWO TO THREE MONTHS. THE CONTACT HAD EXPRESSED CONCERN OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED IN THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,800.

2009 D GR CARAVAN PURCHASED NEW, HAVE HAD TO HAVE FRONT BRAKES ROTORS , SHAVED , THEN BRAKES & ROTORS REPLACED, THEN AGAIN REAR ROTORS SHAVED AT 22,000 MILES. THERE DEFINITELY IS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE. AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS BY DODGE. ALSO HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND VAN CUT OFF ON ME ONCE GOING 45 MPH , THEN APPROX 25 MPH, THEN AGAIN AT A STOP. THIS IS THE 1ST NEW CAR I HAVE EVER PURCHASED, NOT AN EASY THING FOR ME AS I ONLY MAKE $25,000 A YR AND I AM SO FRUSTRATED THAT I PROMISE I WILL ONLY BUY USED FROM NOW ON, IF I AM GOING TO PAY NEARLY $30,000 FOR A VEHICLE , I DON'T EXPECT TO HAVE TO HAVE IT IN THE SHOP 4 + TIMES AND TO HAVE TO SHELL OUT A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS EVERY 6 MONTHS ON IT. *KB

2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. DEALER TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN THE NEW BEARINGS ARRIVE. THEY ARE ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER BECAUSE OF ALL THE REPORTED FAILURES. *TR
ON 6/27/2010 MY FAMILY AND MYSELF WERE TRAVELING TO HACKENSACK MN ON HWY 371 AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE MY MINI VAN KEPT INCREASING IN SPEED. NO INJURIES HAPPENED I CALMLY GOT IT TO STOP BUT I HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE CRUISE WAS ON BUT NOT ACTIVATED. I TRIED TO HIT THE CANCEL SWITCH HIT THE ON OFF SWITCH ALL THE TIME PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE SKID PROTECTION LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKES HEATED UP REALLY BAD BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT STOP RACING AND THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OUT UNTIL I SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE THEN CONTINUED OUR TRIP WITH NO MORE INCIDENTS AND I DID TRY TO GET IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN WITH NO LUCK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD TO REPLACE THREE VALVE STEMS WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL BEGAN TO PULSATE. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO BEGAN TO SHAKE DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY EIGHT MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKES EXHIBITED AN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF RUST BUT DID NOT NEED TO BE REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE REAR ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
VERY NOTICEABLE BRAKE PULSATION,ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED DUE TO THEIR BEING PITTED,RUSTED AND DOWN TO METAL ON METAL. SINCE OFF WARRANTY ASKED FOR GOODWILL FROM DODGE DEALER AND REPAIR DONE FOR $100. ONCE AGAIN ON 08/02/2010 THE FRONT ROTORS WERE FOUND TO BE BAD BY DEALER AND REPLACED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. NOW, AS OF 07/07/2011 LEFT REAR BRAKE APPEARS TO BE STUCK IN A LOCKED ON POSITION, BRAKE IS OVERHEATING,SQUEALING AND POOR GAS MILEAGE AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO ROTOR, PAD AND CALIPER PER LOCAL MECHANIC. THIS FAILURE IS A REAL DANGER TO SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T NOTICE THE CONDITION AS IT MAY CAUSE A FIRE DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT, PREMATURE TIRE WEAR, LOSS OF BRAKING DUE TO FADE AND BOILING OF BRAKE FLUID. THIS CONDITION ALSO CAUSES OTHER BRAKES TO WORK HARDER CAUSING THEIR PREMATURE WEAR.
2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN BEGAN SHAKING AS I WOULD BRAKE FROM SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 40-100 MILES PER HOUR (I LIVE IN GERMANY). AT 15,000 MILES WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT ROTORS ARE WARPED. THE ODD THING IS THAT THE ROTORS WENT OUT BEFORE THE BRAKES DID. APRIL 12TH I HAD THE OIL CHANGE IN MY 2009 DODGE CARAVAN AT VALVOLINE. AS I WAS DRIVING HOME MY LOW LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON. I CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE AND THEY WERE ALL FINE. I AM IN SALES AND DO A GREAT DEAL OF TRAVEL IN THIS CARAVAN IN THE MINNEAPOLIS AREA. I COULD FEEL THE VAN PULLING HARDER AND HARDER TO THE RIGHT. WHEN I PULL IN TO THE PARKING LOT, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS LOW. THE AIR VALVE BLOW OUT AND COMPLETE DEFLATED THE TIRE. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING, WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. I GOT THE TIRE CHANGED AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO GOODYEAR. I WAS TELLING ME CO WORKER ABOUT THIS AND SHE HAS HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO HER 2009. *TR
SHAKING IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKES APPLIED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. STARTED INTERMITTENTLY AT ABOUT 12,000-13,000 MILES, PROCEEDED TO GET WORSE. HUSBAND AT FIRST COULDN'T FEEL IT SO I DID NOT TAKE IT IN. 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN REAR BRAKES FAILURE AT 30,937 MILES.. AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS ISSUED FOR FRONT BRAKES, BUT PROBLEM WITH REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN IGNORED. AT APPROXIMATELY 15000 MILES THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR BRAKE PADS HAD WORN OUT TO METAL TO METAL CONTACT. THE DEALER REPLACED PADS AND ROTORS AT NO CHARGE, NOW AT 33000 MILES, AGAIN, THE DRIVERS SIDE PADS ARE WORN (OUTSIDE PAD) TO POINT OF NEEDING REPLACED. THE WHEEL BECOMES EXTREMELY HOT DUE TO THE BRAKES DRAGGING. AFRAID TIRE WILL BLOW OUT DUE TO EXTREME HEAT MELTING THE BEAD. *TR
VEHICLE -2009 DODGE CARAVAN. I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON CRUISE AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR A WHILE. IF I HIT THE BRAKE, THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. I HAVE TO JAM HARD ON THE BRAKES FOR THE CRUISE TO DISENGAGE AND THE BRAKES TO WORK. THE RED BRAKE WARNING LIGHT GOES ON, AND STAYS ON FOR ABOUT TWO TO THREE MINUTES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS FOR THIS PROBLEM ON: 2-15-10, 2-16-10, 3-18-10, 8-10-10, AND 8-16-11. I HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT SET FOR 8-23-11. BRAKES WOULD SQUEAL AND SCREECH WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE FRONT ROTOR WAS RED HOT AND SMOKING. I LATER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE REAR BRAKES AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTORS PADS AND CALIPERS. ON ONE OCCASION, MY VEHICLE SWERVED WITHOUT WARNING INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE, LIKE BEING BLOWN BY A STRONG GUST OF WIND. 2008 DODGE CARAVAN. MY WIFE COMPLAINED ABOUT NOISE FROM BRAKES. BROUGHT IN FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND IT NEEDS BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. THE CAR HAS 21,000 MILES, 90 PERCENT ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AND CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ACCELERATED WEAR ON THE PADS AND ROTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRENCE WAS APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AFTER THE SERVICE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ROTORS AND CALIPERS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE FOR THE THIRD TIME, AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHICH INFORMED THE FAILURE WOULD BE UNDER AN INVESTIGATION. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,095. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,100.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A 23 POINT INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE REAR BRAKES WERE WORN DOWN TO 3MM AND WERE STICKING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE REAR BRAKE PADS STICKING TO THE CALIPER BRACKETS WAS HIS FAULT. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE CONSUMER STATED SINCE CHRYSLER PAID FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE BRACKETS, HE BELIEVED THEY WERE ADMITTING FAULT. THE BRACKETS CAUSED THE PADS TO STICK, WEARING THEM DOWN AND MAKING THE ROTORS TOO THIN TO BE RESURFACED. THE CONSUMER IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT OF $ 507.73
