WHILE DRIVING OUR 2009 GRAND CARAVAN TO WORK, THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE LEFT ACROSS THE CENTER LINE AND OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NOTHING COMING THE OTHER WAY. I PARKED THE CAR IN A LOT AND CALLED MY HUSBAND. WHEN HE ARRIVED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR AXLE HAD BROKE IN TWO PIECES. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT. WE HAVE NOT TAKEN IT IN FOR REPAIRS YET BUT IM SURE THAT THIS SAFETY ITEM WILL BE ON OUR DIME AND NOT DODGE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED OF 40 ON STRAIGHT ROAD ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLS OUT CAUSING STEERING TO FAIL CREATING NEED FOR SUDDEN STOP BEFORE TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. HAPPENS WITH WARNING. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IN 3 MONTHS THIS HAS HAPPENED. CALLED DODGE DEALER AND CHRYSLER CORPORATE AND THEY SAY THERE IS A RECALL THAT IS SIMILAR FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT NO PART AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATE WHEN. THEY ADVISE USING FOB WITHOUT KEYS ATTACHED. THIS LAST OCCURRENCE OCCURRED WITH NO KEYS ATTACHED, ONLY THE FOB IN THE IGNITION, SO THEIR WORK AROUND DOES NOT WORK. NOTE THE ONLY WAY WE EVEN KNOW IT HAS STALLED IT THE SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING, UNTIL WE CAN GET IT STOPPED AND REALIZE THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. THERE IS NO OTHER WARNING ITS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. TIME BETWEEN THE THREE OCCURRENCES WERE EARLY DEC 2014 FOR FIRST OCCURRENCE, 1 WEEK LATER FOR SECOND OCCURRENCE, 2.5 MONTHS LATER FOR 3RD OCCURRENCE. PULLED ONTO LEMAY FERRY ROAD FROM FORDER ROAD (63129) AT THE LIGHT. AS SOON AS I GOT ONTO LEMAY FERRY RD. GOING SLOW IN TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE CUT OUT AND DIED SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING. I HAD NO EXTRA KEYS ON WITH THE KEYFOB AND NOTHING BUMPED THE IGNITION. THERE WAS NOT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2009 AND HAS BEEN REPORTED REPEATEDLY TO CHRYSLER SINCE THAT TIME. ALTHOUGH THERE IS NOW A RECALL, THE PARTS ARE APPARENTLY UNAVAILABLE AND I HAVE BEEN ON THE LIST FOR REPAIR WITH THE DEALER SINCE THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED. THIS IS A RIDICULOUS WAY TO HANDLE THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC. OBVIOUSLY, CHRYSLER IS NOT THAT CONCERNED ABOUT US. THIS VAN EATS BRAKES. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE NUMEROUS REPAIRS TO MY BRAKING SYSTEM DONE APPROXIMATELY EVERY 25,000 MILES AT GREAT COST. BRAKE CALIPERS FREEZE UP, ROTORS WARP AND PADS WEAR OUT FROM HANGING UP. BRAKES THEN BECOME DIFFICULT TO MODULATE AND VIBRATION CAUSED BY ATTEMPTING TO STOP FROM INTERSTATE SPEEDS MAKE VEHICLE CONTROL DIFFICULT.
