I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AROUND DUSK, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. ALL PARKING LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS AND RADIO WORKED. HOWEVER, I HAD NO LOW BEAM OR HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THIS ISSUE KEEPS RECURRING EVERY MONTH OR TWO FOR THE LAST 1.5YRS AND NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW THE CAUSE. WHEN TAKEN TO BE LOOKED AT THE HEADLIGHTS SEEM TO WORK FINE AND THE PROBLEM CAN'T BE DUPLICATED AT THAT TIME. I HAVE NOTICED IF THE TIPM IS JIGGLED AND THE VAN IS RESTARTED, THEY WILL WORK FINE AGAIN FOR ABOUT 1HR OR SO. VERY FRUSTRATING AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROAD.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WITH 4000 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE, THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. PUT 2 QUARTS OF 5W20 OIL IN THE ENGINE AND IT WAS STILL BELOW THE ADD LINE ON THE DIPSTICK. DEALER STATED THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT AND THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $50 JUST TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG AND TO SEE IF THE WARRANTY COVERS IT. *TT
AS I WAS BUCKLING MY DAUGHTER INTO HER BOOSTER SEAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR STARTED TO CLOSE. I HAD TO TRY AND KEEP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING ON ME. MY LEFT SHOULDER AND ARM ARE SORE. IT SCARED MY DAUGHTER TO DEATH. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING. IT GOT STUCK IN THAT POSITION AND WAS MAKING A SOUND AS IF WAS TRYING TO MOVE AND THEN IT WENT BACK INTO THE OPEN POSITION. I CONTACTED DODGE BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE DOORS ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE SENSORS. IF THAT WAS MY CHILD THEY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING. THEY RESPONDED BY TELLING ME TO BRING IT INTO A DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPOILER BECAME WARPED IN WARM TEMPERATURES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SPOILER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,038.
THE IGNITION MOVED ITSELF FROM START TO ACCESSORY, SHUTTING OF THE ENGINE, DISABLING THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. LUCKILY I WAS ALREADY COMING TO A STOP OTHERWISE MY LACK OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WOULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO CRASH BY THE TIME I REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT START AT GROCERY STORE, HAD TOWED AND WAS TOLD IGNITION MODULE BAD. PARTS ORDERED SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND CALLED BACK ON MONDAY AND TOLD PRICE WOULD BE DOUBLE ESTIMATE. AUTO BODY SHOP CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS TOLD KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE WIND MODULE/IGNITION AND NO LONGER MADE THAT LOWER PRICE PART. NOW HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER MODULE AND 2 NEW REMOTES SINCE OLD ONES WILL NO LONGER WORK WITH THIS MODULE. CONTACTED CHRYSLER/DODGE AND THEY SAID YES THERE WERE RECALLS ON THIS ITEM BUT NOT LISTED ON MY CAR/VIN #. ASKED WHY NOT AND SAID HAD NOT REACHED MY CAR, SAID NEED TO FILE SO IT WOULD HELP TO INCLUDE MORE CARS. NOW I HAVE TO PUT OUT OVER 700 TO REPAIR THIS KNOW PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP TO GET THIS FIXED. *TR
CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL OF THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE. I HAD THE SYMPTOMS EXACTLY AS STATED ON ON THEIR RECALL BUT THEY ARE NOT HONORING THE REPAIR. SPECIFICALLY THE CAR WOULD JUST TURN OFF FOR NO REASON AND THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IT. THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. THEY DID NOT CHARGE AND SAID WHEN IT GETS WORSE COME BACK AND IT WILL BE EASIER TO DIAGNOSE. WHEN IT WOULD ONLY INTERMITETTENLY START THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE IT. NOW THEY ARE STATING IT INOT COVERED.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS (POWER STEERING, BRAKES, ETC.) ONCE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WILL PERFORM WITHIN NORMAL SPECIFICATIONS. NO CODE IS GENERATED BY THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER REGARDING THE MALFUNCTION. *JS

THE FAILURE OCCURRED EIGHTEEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
UPON STARTING THE DODGE CARAVAN SE 2010 I CLOSED BOTH POWER PASSENGER DOORS WITH MY CHILDREN IN SAFETY BELTS, UPON ENTERING THE DRIVERS SIDE MY CHILD ASKED ME TO TURN ON THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS SO THAT SHE COULD FIND SOMETHING THAT DROPPED ON THE FLOOR WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR OPENED, AND THE VEHICLE RUNNING I TURNED ON THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS ONLY TO HAVE BOTH POWER PASSENGER DOORS OPEN ON THEIR OWN. I WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS ERROR A NUMBER OF TIMES UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS, AND AM UNABLE TO PIN POINT A CAUSE. THIS COULD BE A LARGE SAFETY DEFECT. WHAT IF THIS WAS TO HAPPEN WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ? THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE A MINOR PASSENGER TO BE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. I ASK FOR A RECALL / INVESTIGATION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WAS TIGHT. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN, MY RPM'S WERE ON 0, MY CAR HAD SHUT OFF AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT CAR IN PARK AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS AFTER THAT, GOING THE SAME SPEED. ON MARCH 28TH I WAS DRIVING INTO WORK, GOING APPROX. 45-50 MPH, NOTICED THAT MY STEERING GOT TIGHT, CAR HAD SHUT OFF AGAIN. THANKFULLY I WAS IN THE OUTSIDE LANE SO I COULD PULL OVER. CAR STARTED RIGHT UP. IT HAPPENED A 4TH TIME ON APRIL 2, 2014. THIS TIME I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL GETTING TIGHT, I PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS MY CAR SHUTS OFF FIRST AND THEN THERE IS A 1-2 SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE TRACTION CONTROL STEERING LIGHT COMES ON. MY CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT NOW, WAITING TO HEAR. I CHECKED ON THE IGNITION RECALL FOR THE 2010 GRAND CARAVANS AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN# DOES NOT FALL INTO THE RECALL DATES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. PURCHASED DODGE GRAND CARAVAN (MODIFIED FOR HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBILITY) IN SEPTEMBER OF 2011 WITH APPROX. 10,000 MILES. SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC FAULT. WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO AN EXPRESSWAY THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATES TO OVER 8000 RPMS. THE BRAKES ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE'S SPEED. IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE FAULT THE DRIVER MUST TURN OFF THE IGNITION KEY THEN SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IN ORDER TO RESET THE VEHICLE POWER TRAIN TO SAFE OPERATING CONDITIONS, THE DRIVER MUST START THE VEHICLE WITH THE IGNITION KEY. IF THE FAULT IS SUSTAINED THE DRIVER MUST TURN OFF THE KEY BEFORE THE ENGINE OVER ACCELERATES. THIS PROCESS MUST BE REPEATED AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY (SEVERAL TIMES) IN ORDER TO CAUSE THE SYSTEM TO RESET AND ALLOW FOR NORMAL OPERATION. THIS IS NOT AN EASILY REPEATABLE FAULT. WE HAVE LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND THE MECHANICS DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO / FROM WORK (200+ MILES) TO TRY TO REPEAT THIS FAULT. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS (5 TO DATE) THE ENGINE HAS STALLED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AT A STEADY SPEED. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MOVING AT LESS THAN 20MPH AND HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A RELATIVELY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME 5-10 MIN FROM COLD START. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, BUT NO CODES WERE SET AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY SAY THE ENGINE IS NOT DUE FOR MAINTENANCE FOR ANOTHER 15,000 MILES. WE ARE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS RESPONSE GIVEN THE SERIOUSNESS OF HAVING THE ENGINE STALL WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. HEAVEN FORBID IT OCCUR WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
FIVE SEPARATE TIMES WHILE DRIVING THIS VAN THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS DOWN AND WE COAST TO A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE LAST EVENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT AN APROX. SPEED OF 55-60 MPH. SPEED OF THE VAN DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER AS WE HAVE HAD THIS OCCUR AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 15-60 MPH. WEATHER ALSO DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER AS THE EVENTS HAPPENED IN WINTER AND SUMMER. WE HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. THEY KEPT OUR VAN FOR A WEEK ATTEMPTING TO HAVE THE PROBLEM OCCUR FOR THEM WITHOUT SUCCESS. WE ARE FEARFUL EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THIS VAN BECAUSE WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WE LOSE POWER TO THE STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS IS DANGEROUS! CHRYSLER DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. DRIVING THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED WITH NO WARNING. THIS CAUSED ME TO LOOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS HAPPENED ON 6 SUBSEQUENT OCCASIONS IN DIFFERENT AREAS AND AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2013 AND MARCH 2014 THE MOST RECENT WAS MARCH 11, 2014. *TR

WINDOW VENT AND LOCK SWITCH STARTED SMOKING AND START A FIRE ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOOR PANEL IS ALSO MELTED DODGE REFUSING TO FIX UNDER THE RECALL FOR THE VENT SWITCH. *TR
VAN SHAKES AND MAKES SQUEALING NOISES WHILE BRAKING.PREMATURE WEARING OF BRAKES BOTH FRONT AND REAR. MANUFACTURER ISSUED A RECALL ONLY FOR FRONT BRAKES, DEALERSHIP CHANGED FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS WHEN VEHICLE HAD 10,000 MILES APPX ALMOST ONE YEAR BACK( AROUND FIRST QUARTER 2012). SHAKING OF VEHICLE WHEN BRAKES DID NOT RESOLVE. DEALERSHIP CHARGED AND CHANGED REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS. NOW ONE YEAR LATER DEALERSHIP IS RECOMMENDING CHANGING REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS TO ELIMINATE THE ISSUE OF VAN SHAKING WHILE BRAKING. ITS ONLY AFTER 7000 MILES OF CHANGING BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A SIDE STREET ONTO A MAIN ROAD WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME WITHIN THE PAST MONTH THAT THIS HAPPENED. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I HAD THE SECOND IGNITION FAILURE I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (L25) FROM CHRYSLER TELLING ME THAT THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR FREQUENCY OPERATED BUTTON IGNITION KEY (FOBIK) THAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I CALLED THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER (1-800-853-1403) THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND, EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD SHUT DOWN TWICE, THEY DIDN'T CARE AND WOULDN'T PROVIDE A LOANER/RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL THE REPAIR WAS MADE. THIS IS A SIMILAR SITUATION THAT GM DEALT WITH RECENTLY AND DID PROVIDE TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT VEHICLES. *TR
THE STEM FOR THE TPMS HAD CORRODED THROUGH CAUSING FLAT TIRE. WARNING SIGNALED LOW TIRE PRESSURE WENT TO REMOVE THE PLASTIC CAP AND THE STEM HAD BROKEN IN HALF AND WAS ONLY HELD TOGETHER WITH 1 THREAD OF PLASTIC CAP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD HUMMING NOISE IN THE FRONT END WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHO STATED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE WORN PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WHEEL BEARING EXTENDED WARRANTY REPAIR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,976.
SINCE 2013 MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS FAILED TO START ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IT WILL WORK OK WHEN SUDDENLY YOU TURN THE KEY AND THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON BUT THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. A DODGE DEALER CHANGED THE BATTERY BUT THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. SOMETIMES YOU CAN TURN THE KEY TO ON SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND BACK INTO PARK AND IT WILL START. SOMETIMES YOU CAN SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WILL START. OTHER TIMES NEITHER OF THESE FIXES WORK. RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM SHOWS IT HAS LONG BEEN A LONGTERM PROBLEM WITH DODGE AND CHRYSLER COVERING SEVERAL YEAR MODELS. NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED STARTERS, BATTERIES, TIPM MODULES, WIN MODULES, FOBS AND NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITKENNETHCHES (TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSORS) BEING REPLACED WITH NO RELIEF FROM THE PROBLEM. CHRYSLER AND DODGE DEALERSHIPS ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND CORRECT IT. IT HAS LEFT US STRANDED IN BOTH COLD AN HOT WEATHER SOMETIMES WITH OUR 3 SMALL GRANDCHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THE SAFETY ISSUE OF THIS PROBLEM IS SOMETHING THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO IDENTIFY AND CORRECT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR INCOMPATIBILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,731.
VAN TRAVELING AT 70 MPH AND THE HORN GOES OFF. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IGNITION OFF AND ON, HORN STILL ACTIVATED. WE THEN WENT TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED ONLY TO FIND OUT THEIR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT WAS INOPERABLE. THAT WEEKEND THE VAN WOULD NOT START SO WE REPLACED THE BATTERY THINKING THIS WAS THE SOURCE OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. WE WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WILL COST $790 TO REPAIR. HOWEVER ON THURSDAY WE TOOK A SMALL TRIP WHICH TOOK US 45 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. WHEN WE STARTED BACK ON THURSDAY NIGHT 7/18/13 THE LIGHTS FLASHED A FEW TIMES AND THEN WENT OUT. WE WERE UNABLE TO DRIVE HOME AND GOT TO A MOTEL THAT NIGHT. SO THE NEW LIGHTS APPARENTLY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, FURTHER, WE CHECKED THE OLD LIGHTS AND THEY ACTUALLY CHECKED OUT FINE. UPON CHECKING ON THE INTERNET WE DISCOVERED THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. IN THE PRIOR WEEK WHILE IN FL, THE VAN HAD A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED AT OUR GATOR CHRYSLER, IN A REPAIR ADVISED TO SOLVE NO START INCIDENTS WE HAD IN FL. THE VAN ALSO UNDERWENT AN INSPECTION, WITH NO PROBLEMS REPORTED TO US. WE SCHEDULED A PANICKED DEALER SERVICE VISIT WHILE STILL IN ROUTE, AT A RENO DODGE ON JULY 1ST 2013. THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIANS RETAINED THE VAN TO DIAGNOSE THE NO-START FOR 2 FULL DAYS. THEY NOTED NO MALFUNCTION AND COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. DESPITE BEING "REPAIRED" UNDER RECALL THE IGNITION MODULE CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION. WITH A FOB INSERTED THE MODULE SHOWS EXCESS SLOPPINESS IN THE CLOCKWISE DIRECTION. THE KEY FOB HAS BEEN STUCK IN THE IGNITION ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AND THE ENGINE HAS CONTINUED RUNNING AFTER REMOVAL OF THE KEY. THESE MALFUNCTIONS HAVE POTENTIAL TO BECOME DANGEROUS IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS.
