I WAS INFORMED THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR A TRANSMISSION (RECALL REFERENCE S44) ON 06/24/2016 AND IT HAS REQUIRED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, COSTING $4K IN JULY 19, 2019. ON JUNE 20, 2020, WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY MADE A LOUD REVVING SOUND, RPM INCREASED NEARLY TO MAX, ACCELERATION BECAME INOPERABLE, AND CAUSED ACTIVE TRAFFIC DELAYS - SIMILAR TO WHAT HAD OCCURRED A YEAR BEFORE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED.
2015 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY, NOT STARTED. I WAS SEATED IN DRIVER SEAT AFTER JUST ENTERING THE VEHICLE, DOOR STILL OPEN, I ACTIVATED THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR SO MY FAMILY COULD ENTER THE REAR. MY WIFE OPENED THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR BUT HAD NOT ENTERED THE VEHICLE, SHE WAS ASSISTING THE KIDS ENTERING THE REAR. THE PASSENGER SEAT HEADREST SUDDENLY BURST OPEN AND EXTENDED FORWARD. EVERYONE JUMPED AT THE SUDDEN NOISE. I LOOKED OVER AND SAW THE HEADREST DISTENDED AND DIDN'T KNOW IT COULD DO THAT. I INSPECTED THE HEADREST AND SAW ARMS AND LATCHES THAT INDICATED IT COULD BE MOVED. I ATTEMPTED TO RETURN IT TO NORMAL BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE VERY EASILY. WE DECIDED TO LEAVE IT AS WE WERE ON OUR WAY SOMEWHERE. LATER I AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY TOGETHER. I LOOKED ONLINE FOR POSSIBLE REPAIR INFORMATION AND FOUND IT TO BE DESCRIBED AS A SAFETY FEATURE TO HELP PREVENT WHIPLASH INJURY AND THAT IT SHOULD NOT DEPLOY WITHOUT A CRASH. NO OTHER SAFETY FEATURES DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE STILL OPERATED NORMALLY. I CONTACTED DODGE DIRECTLY THROUGH ONLINE CHAT AND SPENT OVER 30 MINUTES DESCRIBING EVERYTHING IN DETAIL AND WAS TOLD A MANAGER WOULD BE CONTACTING ME IN 1-2 DAYS. AFTER A WEEK, NO CALL WAS RECEIVED. I AGAIN CONTACTED DODGE AND WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND WITH REQUEST FOR ALL THE INFORMATION AGAIN EVEN THOUGH THE AGENT PULLED UP THE FILE AND TOLD ME WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEY REFUSED TO SEND IT TO A MANAGER AGAIN UNLESS I SPENT ANOTHER 30+ MINUTES DESCRIBING EVERYTHING IN DETAIL AGAIN. I TOLD THEM I WAS PULLING UP THE NHTSA WEBSITE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THEY IMMEDIATELY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND FORWARDED THE ISSUE WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION AGAIN. I TOLD THEM IT SEEMED THEY WERE RUNNING ME IN CIRCLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE HEAD REST DEPLOYED AND STRUCK THE CONTACT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

THE SLIDING POWER DOOR MAKE LAUD NOISE WHEN CLOSING AND OPENS ITSELF , I CHECK THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND I NOTICED IT IS COMMON PROBLEM , I WONDER IF THERE WAS A RECALL ?
ON THURSDAY JUNE 4, 2020 I WAS OPERATING A 2015 DODGE CARAVAN OWNED BY THE DANVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS TRANSPORTATION DIVISION. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT I RAISED THE HEIGHT OF THE HEAD REST ONE CLICK TO PLACE THE HEAD REST HIGHER UP THE BACK OF MY HEAD. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN I PROCEEDED TO THE NEXT INTERSECTION AND HAD TO STOP FOR A SECOND RED LIGHT. AS I PULLED AWAY FROM THE SECOND LIGHT (AFTER A GREEN INDICATOR) THE HEAD REST SUDDENLY POPPED OPEN MAKING IMPACT WITH THE REAR OF MY HEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE HEAD REST DEPLOYED. I MENTIONED THE HEAD REST TO OUR SHOP TECHNICIAN WHO BEGAN TO MAKE INQUIRY INTO THE POSSIBLE CAUSE. THE SHOP TECHNICIAN SPOKE TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS ADVISED THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR SAFETY BULLETINS ON THE ISSUE AND THAT NEW REPLACEMENTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR AROUND $600 AND THAT OUR BEST OPTION WOULD BE TO RETRIEVE ONE FROM A JUNK YARD. A CLOSER LOOK ON LINE INDICATED ISSUES WITH DODGE AHR HEAD REST. THE LOCKING PIN SHOULD BE RELEASED BY A SOLENOID POWERED LATCH THAT IS TRIGGERED BY THE SENSOR SYSTEM IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE PLASTIC RETAINERS THAT HOLD THE LOCKING PIN FAILED AND BROKE AWAY CAUSING THE FRONT SECTION OF THE HEAD REST TO DEPLOY WITHOUT TRIGGERING THE SOLENOID. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGED RETAINER POINTS AND THE LOCKING PIN. THIS 2015 DODGE VAN HAS 58,976 ORIGINAL MILES. *TR
REAR BRAKE CONDITION, 2015 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE (DUAL FRONT PISTON BRAKE VERSION): A TIRE CHANGE AT 85752 MILES AND SLIGHTLY MORE THAN FOUR YEARS OF ROAD USE REVEALED NORMAL FRONT ROTORS WITH 8MM OF BRAKE PAD MATERIAL REMAINING ON THE FRONT PADS BUT AS LITTLE AS LESS THAN 1MM ON THE REARS WITH BOTH REAR ROTORS HEAVILY CORRODED ON THEIR FACE AS WELL AS HAVING SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF MISSING MATERIAL ON THE FACE DUE TO CORROSION AS LARGE AS 1.5' X 1' AND AS DEEP AS 1MM. (THIS CONDITION IS ADDITIONALLY UNUSUAL AS IT IS COMMON FOR THE FRONT BRAKES TO WEAR BEFORE THE REAR BRAKES DUE TO WEIGHT SHIFT UNDER BRAKING REQUIRING THAT THE FRONT BRAKES ENDURE THE BULK OF THE BURDEN OF SLOWING ANY VEHICLE, AS WELL AS BY DESIGN WHERE BRAKE BIAS IS SHIFTED TO THE FRONT TO PREVENT THE REARS FROM LOCKING UNDER BRAKING VIA THE USE OF A PROPORTIONING VALVE; THE CORROSION ON THE ROTOR FACE SEEMS TO BE INDICATIVE OF A LACK OF ADEQUATE REAR PAD CONTACT.) THE LARGE AREA OF MISSING ROTOR MATERIAL CORRESPONDED WITH THE MOST-WORN PAD, PROBABLY DUE TO THE SHARP EDGES OF THE DEPRESSION ACTING TO SLICE, RATHER THAN ABRADE, THE ASSOCIATED PAD. ANECDOTALLY, MECHANICS SPOKEN WITH INDICATED THEY HAVE FREQUENTLY SEEN THIS GENERATION OF DODGE GRAND CARAVANS WITH SIMILAR REAR ROTORS AND PADS. THIS CONDITION IS UNSAFE DUE TO THE APPARENT LACK OF APPLICATION OF THE REAR BRAKES DURING THE BRAKING PROCESS, AS WELL AS BEING POSSIBLY INDICATIVE OF A DEFECT DUE TO PREMATURE AND ABNORMAL WEAR OF A BRAKE COMPONENT, ALONG WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THERE BEING AN ERROR IN THE BASIC VEHICLE BRAKE DESIGN/ENGINEERING AS THIS CONDITION MAY BE DUE TO AN IMPROPERLY SPECIFIED OR INCORRECTLY FUNCTIONING BRAKE PROPORTIONING VALVE. DUE TO THE SAFETY CRITICAL NATURE OF THIS DISCOVERY, IT MAY BE OF VALUE TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES OF ALL 2008-2020 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS INSPECTED.
LOSE POWER AND WHINING NOISE. *TR
THE ACTUATOR ON THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WAS MAKING A BUZZING NOISE FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN THE DOOR JUST FROZE SHUT. AFTER GOOGLING SOME THINGS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES AND IT SHOULD BE A RECALL!!! I AM LETTING THE SEVERAL OTHERS KNOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT AS WELL. *TR
MY HVAC SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WE CHECKED TO SEE IF THE HVAC RECALL WAS PERFORMED AND MY DEALERSHIP SHIP SAYS IT WAS A MINOR PART THAT WAS FIXED, BUT EVERYTHING I READ ON THE 2016 RECALL SAYS A HUGE RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON THE HVAC SYSTEM. MY DEALERSHIP SAYS THE RECALL ISN'T WARRANTY APPLICABLE AND THEREFORE I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET! MY AC IS BLOWING HOT AND IT CONTINUOUSLY WILL CHANGE FROM AC TO RECIRCULATE TO NO AC ON ITS OWN. IT'S ALL APART OF THE PROGRAM THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE WARRANTIED. IT'S DANGEROUS TO NOT HAVE ADEQUATE AC WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT IN COLORADO WHILE IT'S SO HOT HERE. MY AC BLOWS HOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WHEN COMPLETELY STOPPED OR SLOW SPEEDS, IT GETS HOT. ONLY STAYS COLD WHILE GOING FASTER SPEEDS. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPLACE THE RECALLED PARTS FROM 2016 STATING THEY AREN'T UNDER LIFETIME WARRANTY. PLEASE HELP!
THE HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET. *TR
THE ELECTRIC CONTROLS ARE GOING HAYWIRE WHEN VAN IS TURNED ON NOTHING WILL FUNCTION THAN THE REAR DEFROSTER COMES ON NOTHING ELSE WORKS THEN THE AIR COMES ON AND COOL AIR ON DRIVERS SIDE HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE THEN SOME COOL THEN HEAT AND I HAVE A LIGHTING BOLT SIMBLE ON THE DASH AND VAN WAS HIT HEAD ON WHILE PARK AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY
THE REAR RIGHT PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING BOTH ELECTRONICALLY AND MANUALLY CAUSING A PARTIAL HAZARD SO AS NO ONE CAN EXIT/ENTER THAT DOOR TO THE VEHICLE. IT WAS FIRST OBSERVED NEARLY 4 WEEKS AGO WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. *TR
WAS PLANNING TRIP FROM ST. CATHARINES ONTARIO TO TYLER TEXAS AND TOOK VAN IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND 40 POINT "PEACE OF MIND" INSPECTION TO MY LOCAL DEALER WHERE ALWAYS SERVICED. EMPHASIZED I WANTED TO ADDRESS ANY PROBLEMS, IF ANY, BEFORE I STARTED TRIP AND NOT WHILE I WAS TRAVELLING. I WAS WITHIN 30 MILES OF DESTINATION IN TEXAS, WHEN STOPPED AT A INTERSECTION AND TRANSMISSION JUMPED WHEN ACCELERATING AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND PULLED OVER.NO WARNING LIGHTS AT THIS TIME JUST GRINDING NOISE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER. SEE SERVICE INVOICE INCLUDED. TRANSMISSION SERVICE DONE THE NEXT DAY AND WAS GIVEN THE OK. EVERYTHING FINE DURING OUR STAY. ON OUR RETURN TRIP FROM TEXAS TO ONTARIO, NO PROBLEMS UNTIL WE ARRIVED IN COLUMBUS OHIO, 18 HOURS LATER, TO RE-FUEL AND WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM GAS STATION VEHICLE JUMPED, HEARD GRINDING NOISE AGAIN, AND ENGINE YELLOW WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WE DID NOT DRIVE FURTHER AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND DID COMPUTOR SCAN WHICH INDICATED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. SEE ENCLOSED SERVICE INVOICE. VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AT THIS TIME. SIX HOURS FROM HOME. DECIDED TO RENT A TRUCK AND CAR DOLLY AND TOWED VAN HOME TO OUR DEALER FOR SECOND OPINION. NEEDS NEW OR REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR A VEHICLE THAT HAS ONLY APPROXIMATELY 81,000 MILES(OR 135,000 KM), ESPECIALLY SINCE 2015/2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS HAD TRANSMISSION RECALLS, BUT NOT VEHICLE WIDE. I AM LOOKING FOR CHRYSLER TO STEP UP AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.
LOSS OF POWER AND WHINING NOISE
VEHICLE, STATIONARY, CAR DOES NOT START ON THE FIRST TRY IF IT SITS FOR OVER 4 HOURS. CRANKS THEN STALLS, OR CRANKS OVER AND OVER UNTIL EVENTUALLY CATCHING. NEW: CAR BATTERY, BATTERY TENDER/CHARGER, NEW/UPGRADED SPARK PLUGS, NEW/UPGRADED IGNITION COILS. APPEARS TO BE TIPM FAILING. HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS.
DOORS MAKE A LOUD BUZZING SOUND WHEN LOCKING OR UNLOCKING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. WAS ADVISED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT.
I JUST MADE THIS SAME REPORT BUT WITH MY SON'S DODGE 06 VIN NUMBER. IGNORE THAT REPORT!! FOR MY DODGE 2015 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HERE IS MY REPORT: PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG EXPLODED. LUCKILY NO INJURY. VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT COULD DO THAT! I'D LIKE THIS FIXED. ALSO, TWO LEAKS IN ENGINE. OIL LEAK/TRANSMISSION LEAK. IS THIS NORMAL? LEAKS ARE ONGOING. ANOTHER THING: NOTICING HEADLIGHTS GETTING SLIGHTLY DIMMER, THEN BRIGHTER, AT NIGHT AS IF SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM? THIS HAPPENS DURING DRIVING AND NOT DRIVING.
(AUTOMATIC) HIGHWAY, LOCAL ROADS, UPHILL OR STRAIGHTAWAY. CAR HAS DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING PAST START UP SPEED. WHEN STARTING FROM A RED LIGHT INTO 2ND GEAR THE CAR WILL QUICKLY SLOW THEN GO FROM 1ST GEAR TO 3RD. SPUTTERING, HESITATION. AFTER I'VE ALREADY REACHED SPEED LIMIT. THIS HAS CAUSED MANY ISSUES WITH CLOSE 'REAR ENDING ' ISSUES. PEOPLE REAR ENDING ME OR MY REAR ENDING THEM BECAUSE OF THE QUICK/HARD SHIFTING. CAR HAS BEEN SEEN 2X SINCE FEB. 2020 GOING ON 3X. SAME COMPLAINTS. EXHAUST HAS THICK WHITE SMOKE, SMELLS SLIGHTLY OF GAS. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT DIAGNOSTIC: 2ND CYLINDER MISFIRE. 1ST SERVICE FIX FOCUSED ON THERMOSTAT AND REPAIRED IT. 2ND SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED CYLINDER 2MISFIRE AGAIN. REPAIRS FOCUSED ON CHANGING SPARK PLUGS AND FUEL INJECTION DECARBONIZER. LAST SEEN 8/2020 TODAY IS NOV 1ST. I HAVE ANOTHER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH SAME ISSUES. 2ND CYLINDER MISFIRE. I FEEL AS MANY UNSAFE ISSUES THIS CAR HAS I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. SO IT IS SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY. I'VE READ IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION OR IT COULD BE A COIL. I'VE HEARD THE REPAIRS COULD COST UPWARD OF $2500 AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE OF ENGINE.
I CHANGED MY BATTERY IN MY VAN AND NOW THE AC DOESN'T WORK AND IT SEEMS LIKE I SMELL COOLANT BURNING AND WHEN I'M DRIVING BETWEEN 40 TO 50 IT'S VERY SLUGGISH. AND I HAD TO HAVE AN AUTO SHOP CHECK MY TRANSMISSION FLUID CUZ IT FELT LIKE MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. AND WHEN THEY CHECKED IT THEY SAID I WAS REALLY LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHERE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID GOING.
THE HEAD RESTRAINT FOR INSIDE THE HEADREST FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT HAVE BRACKETS THAT WILL RANDOMLY FAIL.
THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I WOULD IDLE THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND IT ACTED LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO GO. THE ENGINE WOULD JUST REV UP LIKE IT WASN'T IN GEAR. THEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION THE RPMS WOULD REV UP SUPER HIGH ON ITS OWN AND THEN THERE WOULD BE A SUDDEN JERK. NOW THE VEHICLE WON'T EVEN GO ABOVE 30 MILES PER HOUR. IT'S ALMOST LIKE THE TRANSMISSION PUMP ISN'T WORKING RIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HWY AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO PULL OVER IN THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I THEN TRIED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE TO ADVANCE FORWARD BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE BUT NO GO FASTER THEN 40MPH THE RPMS HOWEVER WE'RE JUMPING AROUND LIKE CRAZY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE THEY LOOKED OVER THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE TOURQUE CONVERTER FAILED AND THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD 94000 MILES.
MY CAR IS REGULARLY MAINTENANCED BY YOUR DEALERSHIP I ALSO HAVE A MAINTENANCE PLAN THAT I PURCHASED THAT YOUR DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR. I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM DODGE DEALERSHIP ON REISTERSTOWN ROAD IN OWINGS MILLS MD 21117 IN MARCH 2015 APPROXIMATELY LESS THAN 24 MONTHS I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY TIRES AND WAS INFORMED BY DODGE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS USED AND NOT BRAND NEW AS I WAS EXPECTING WHEN I PURCHASED IT FOR 30,0000. LESS THAN 48 YEARS MY ENGINE GAVE UP AND HAS TO BE BUILT FROM SCRATCH PUTTING MY CAR VALUE DOWN AND LEAVING ME AND MY KIDS STRANDED FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND MY GPS STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AND NOW I NEED 4 NEW TIRES AGAIN. YOUR DEALERSHIP SOLD ME USED TIRES AND I CONTACTED TIRE MANUFACTURER AND THEY SAID YOU NEED TO REPLACE TIRES THROUGH WARRANTY BUT YOU REFUSE TO DO IT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FILE A CLAIM BECAUSE YOKOHAMA TIRE MANUFACTURER SAID TIRES SHOULD LAST 50-60K MILES MINE ONLY LAST 30K I PURCHASED NEW BUT YOU GAVE ME USED HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN ON A BRAND NEW CAR? I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS BUT, TO DATE, THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIRS BOTH THE USE AND VALUE OF MY CAR. THEREFORE, IF YOU AND/OR YOUR DEALER ARE UNABLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM IN A "REASONABLE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS" AS THAT PHRASE IS DEFINED IN MARYLAND'S AUTOMOTIVE WARRANTY ENFORCEMENT ACT (MD. CODE ANN., COM. LAW II, 14-1502 (D) ), I WILL EXPECT YOU TO [REPURCHASE OR REPLACE] THE VEHICLE PURSUANT TO 14-1502(C) OF THE ACT. ATTACHED IS LIST OF ISSUES, MAINLY POWERTRAIN AND TRANSMISSION. MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE (CAMPAIGN # 16V461000). DODGE DEALER CLAIMED NO RECALL ON MY SPECIFIC VIN, BUT FOR VEHICLES MADE AT A SIMILAR TIME. ONLY 69000 MILES ON VEHICLE.
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS DURING DECEMBER 3019 AND JANUARY 2020 WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, NO WARNING LIGHTS BEFORE IT HAPPENS OR AFTER. LOSE OF POWER AND LOSS OF BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON MAIN ROADS. THERE WAS A RECALL UP TO THE 2010 MODEL FOR THIS SAME REASON WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE IGNITION AND FOB AND TIPM. IT APPEARS DODGE HAS NOT CORRECTED THIS HAZARD. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NOT DIAGNOSIS THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, NOT RUNNING AND HAD NOT BEEN IN ANY KIND OF COLLISION. WHEN I INSPECTED THE INSIDE OF THE HEADREST, THE PLASTIC BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE METAL PIN WERE COMPROMISED. THE METAL PIN IS STILL IN PLACE, BUT THE PLASTIC PRONGS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD ONTO THE PIN TO KEEP THE HEADREST IN PLACE BOTH FAILED. ONE CRACKED AND IS PARTIALLY ATTACHED. THE OTHER PRONG CAME OFF COMPLETELY. I BELIEVE THE PLASTIC BROKE FROM BEING UNDER PROLONGED TENSION. WHY WOULD SOMETHING THAT IS DESIGNED TO BE A SAFETY FEATURE BE MADE OUT OF SOMETHING AS FLIMSY AS PLASTIC? I'M SO THANKFUL THAT I WASN'T DRIVING WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURIES. THERE ARE MANY OTHER REPORTS OF DODGE CUSTOMERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT (AHR) SYSTEM SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THE HEADREST SHOULD NOT DEPLOY BY ITSELF. UNFORTUNATELY, FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, DODGE IS CLAIMING NO RESPONSIBILITY AND THE ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE REPAIR IS AROUND $900, BUT MOST PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD THAT AND DON'T WANT TO PAY IT ANYWAY BECAUSE THE PROBLEM COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. DODGE SHOULD BE REPAIRING THESE HEADRESTS AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMERS.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TAKES TIME TO OPEN. 30 TO 45 SECONDS APPROXIMATELY TO OPEN. HAPPENS VERY OFTEN. AFRAID IT MAY STOP FUNCTIONING COMPLETELY. THE SLIDING DOORS (BOTH) OPEN ON THEIR OWN. HAVE FOUND SLIDING DOORS AND CARGO DOOR OPEN. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY, SOME DAYS IT MAY NOT OCCUR, BUT AFRAID TO LEAVE CAR IN THE STREET. HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE BY LOCKING DOORS MANUALLY WITH DOOR LOCK ON DRIVER'S DOOR PANEL, HOWEVER IT IS STILL MALFUNCTIONING. THE ISSUES OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. MY 2015 GRAND CARAVAN BOTH SLIDING DOORS WERE WORKING FINE, THEN YESTERDAY THE DRIVER'S SLIDING DOOR JUST FROZE--CAN'T OPEN IT ELECTRONICALLY OR MANUALLY. THE LOCK IS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION AND THE POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH WON'T MOVE THAT DOOR'S LOCK TO THE 'UNLOCK' POSITION. WHEN YOU TRY TO MOVE THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON/LEVER ON THAT SLIDING DOOR, IT'S STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION--EVEN WITH A BUNCH OF FORCE I CAN'T MOVE THE LEVER TO THE UNLOCKED POSITION--I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING TO BREAK THE LEVER IF I FORCE IT TOO MUCH. SO THE DOOR IS BASICALLY UNUSEABLE UNOPENABLE RIGHT NOW. I FEEL IT'S A FAILURE AND SAFETY ISSUE.

2015 DODGE CARAVAN - PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE WHEN LOCKING OR UNLOCKING THE DOORS.
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. MY WIFE OPENED THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND WAS ABOUT TO GET IN AS MY SON WAS GETTING IN THROUGH THE SLIDING PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR. WITHOUT ANY KIND OF IMPACT THE HEADREST ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FORCEFULLY DEPLOYED. THANKFULLY MY WIFE WASN'T IN THE SEAT YET, SO NO ONE WAS HURT. WHEN I EXAMINED THE HEADREST, I FOUND THAT THE PLASTIC PART THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THE HEADREST FROM DEPLOYING HAD FAILED AND HAD BROKEN INTO A NUMBER OF SMALL PIECES. MY VAN ISN'T KEPT IN A GARAGE, SO IT SPENDS ALL OF ITS TIME OUTSIDE IN IOWA WEATHER, WHICH THIS PAST YEAR HAS RANGED FROM COLDER THAN -30F TO HIGHER THAN 90F. IT SEEMS LIKE THE PLASTIC COULDN'T HANDLE IT.

FOR ABOUT A MONTH THE VAN'S LOCK SYSTEM TO THE DOORS WOULD MAKE A BUZZING NOISE WHEN YOU UNLOCK OR LOCK THEM. SINCE FRIDAY, AUGUST 9TH 2019, THE BACK SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WILL NOT UNLOCK. THIS COULD CAUSE A HAZARD TO SOMEONE IN THE BACK, THAT NEEDED TO GET OUT OF VAN IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VAN IS STOPPED, OF COURSE I WOULD NOT TRY OPENING IT, IF VEHICLE WAS MOVING. THIS SHOULD BE AN AUTOMATIC FIX FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BECAUSE OF SAFETY DUE TO PASSENGERS. AUG 3, 2019 JUST GOT OFF INTERSTATE-44. I WAS STOPPED, & WAS GETTING GAS AT MURPHY USA, IN A COMMERCIAL LOT, ON A CITY STREET. VEHICLE WAS PARKED, STATIONARY AND NOT RUNNING. I WAS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. MY 3 SON'S WERE INSIDE THE VAN. MY 15 YEAR OLD SON HAD HIS HEAD ON THE PASSENGER HEADREST WHEN IT RANDOMLY DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON AT ALL. NO WRECK, NO REASON. THE HEADREST POPPED SO LOUDLY I THOUGHT IT WAS A GUNSHOT NEAR US. IT FRIGHTENED US ALL. HE HAD A FEW APPOINTMENTS TO GET THE PAIN TO STOP. I CALLED GRAVEN CHRYSLER OF LEBANON MO WHERE I PURCHASED THE VAN TO GET IT REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT DUE TO NO RECALL YET!. THE VAN HAS APPROX. 56,000 MILES AND I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH BUMPER TO BUMPER. I WAS THEN TOLD BOTH HEADRESTS WOULD BE REPLACED UBDER THE WARRANTY YET THAT WAS OVER 6 MONTHS AGO. I WAS STILL TOLD TODAY THEY CANNOT GET NEW PARTS IN. MAYBE NEXT MONTH? THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 594-45294. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A PHONE CALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
