Oil pump failure at 70000 miles leaving daughter stranded
On December 30, 2022 I was driving my EcoSport when the "low oil pressure" light first came on followed by the "check engine" light. I immediately pulled to the side of the road and called the dealership where my vehicle was just serviced for The Works the week before and spoke to the service advisor. I asked what the problem could be since it was just serviced and he said it sounds like the engine. I had to have my car towed (thank goodness for AAA) to the dealership. The warranty on the powertrain/engine was up at 60K miles and I was at 72,000. I paid out of pocket almost $6300 for the new engine. I have NEVER had to pay for any engine in all the years I have owned and driven any make/model of car. I am very disappointed with how FORD handled this problem.
Driving on the interstate the low oil pressure light came on no check engine lights or anything . The oil pump is belt driven aka wet belt and the rubber teeth come off stopping up the oil pump and causing it not to work properly . With the rubber pieces going into the motor the rubber melts causing issues with the pistons and engine block. The Ford dealership recommends not replacing just the oil pump because of all the other issues the rubber belt causes because it melts inside the engine . So I am left with no choice but to replace the engine at a cost of 5,000.00. Why there hasn't been a recall is questionable . I am in the process of getting said motor replaced but does that mean every 2 years it will have same issues ?
A couple year ago I got a random pop up saying low oil pressure I pulled over immediately and started hearing a noise. I called around and got told I should tow the car to a mechanic. Then, I was told I had to get a new engine, and that was not cheap. I have also had the problem where every time I get into the car the screen turns off and says “turning off to save battery” sometimes the screen turns back on and sometimes it stays off not allowing me to see navigation. Plus when this happens it sometimes turns my whole dash and air conditioning off, and I am unable to use the reverse camera. Now there was a recent recall on my vehicle for the low oil pressure warning. But I have also had multiple problems with the auto start stop function where I have to manually turn it off every time I get into the car, the reasoning is because multiple times on the road the car would not start and I would have to put the car in park and restart the car but on hills it really has a problem starting.
The Brake system emits a squeaking, moan/groan sound when backing up. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The concern was that any sound not usual to the operation of the vehicle is a warning of a potential problem. No warning lights appeared. This problem was inspected, confirmed/diagnosed at a Ford dealer in Huntington, WV. The problem was supposed to be remedied with the replacement of the rear braking system(pads, rotors. and slides). The vehicle had 19,736 miles on it but the dealer said it was not a warranty item and charged $600.00 for the repair. The problem was not corrected. The manufacturer was contacted. A Ford representative contacted the dealer and was convinced by the dealer that nothing could be done to remedy this condition. Hence it still poses a threat to the safety of the vehicle. I researched the issue via the internet and found a considerable number of postings relating the same problem from other 2018-2020 Ford Ecosport owners. The results of their efforts mirrored mine. A video of the problem (post repair) is available but not able to download in this format.

There has been multiple instances that the right-side brake light has failed, even after being replaced with new bulbs. It has happened 2 times before, and I have seen numerous other Ecosports that have this problem as well. It is not a bulb problem, but a wiring problem. Not sure if this is worth submitting on here, but I can’t be the only one that has done it so far.
After about a year after purchasing my 2020 Ford EcoSport The seat belt on the driver's side is stretched out and doesn't hold in my opinion tightly enough for me to feel safe, hoe can I remedy this, My only complaint is so far driver's seat belt if I can get this fixed through Ford Motor Company, I could breathe a safe sigh of relief.
