THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS VEHICLE. SHE COMPLAINED OF A NOISE IN THE FRONT END WHILE BRAKING AND SOMETIMES WHILE JUST DRIVING AT MODERATE SPEEDS. UPON INSPECTION I DISCOVERED THAT THE INNER BRAKE PADS ON BOTH FRONT BRAKES WERE TOTALLY WORN OUT AND GRINDING ON THE METAL WHILE THE OUTER PADS HAD PLENTY OF BRAKE MATERIAL LEFT. THE ROTORS WERE RUINED! THE REAR BRAKE PADS ALSO HAD PLENTY OF MATERIAL LEFT. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS. *TT
FIRST OCCURRENCE. TURNED VEHICLE ON, SHIFTED IN DRIVE TO LEAVE PARKING LOT. DID NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY, AND FELT AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, AND BACK ON. IT SHIFTED FINE. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP, AS WE HAD ONLY OWNED IT S MONTH AND BOUGHT IN APRIL 2012. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. OVER TIME, THIS HAS HAPPENED 10-15 MORE TIMES. THE COMPUTER ALSO SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED BY THIS AS WELL. TODAY 7/26/2013, I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE, LEFT IT START UP, BEGAN TO GO INTO DRIVE, IT STALLED, AND A POWERTRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. MILEAGE COMPUTER DASH DISAPPEARED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. TURNED IT BACK ON. WHEN I TRIED TO SHIFT IT, TRANSMISSION WAS VERY VIOLENT. SAT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR TWENTY MINUTES. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, LET IT RUN FOR 2MINUTES, PUT IT IN DRIVE, AND IT WAS COMPLETELY FINE. WHEN I DRIVE UP HILL, IT SEEMS TO BE USING A LOT MORE POWER THAN NECESSARY, AND MY RPMS GO ALL THE WAY UP TO 5-6K. LOOKING FOR A SHOP TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT, OR AT THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND LOST STEERING POWER AS AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND IT RESUMED TO NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLY, THE COMPRESSION SEAL AND THE ROLLER RESTRICT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE YEAR LATER AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE PTU INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND SEAL KIT FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,375. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DASH LIGHTS FLASH AND CAR LOSES POWER DURING TRAVEL RESULTING IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT NOTICED BLACK SPOTS ON THE GROUND UNDER THE VEHICLE DUE TO FLUID LEAKING FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS FRACTURED FROM OVERHEATING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE TRANSFER CASE WAS NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE PART WAS ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE VEHICLE STARTED PERFORMING BADLY AND HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING, WHICH AFFECTED ACCELERATION AND DECERATION IN TRAFFIC. DROVE VEHICLE DIRECTLY TO FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE. THEY STATED THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO HAVE THE PTU SEAL REPLACED. I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD THIS ITEM WAS BACKORDERED 2 WEEKS, BUT THEY CAN NO LONGER GIVE ME AN ESTIMATED DATE. THEY STATED IT COULD BE 2 DAYS, 2 WEEKS, OR 2 MONTHS.
REAR BRAKE/TAIL LIGHT SOCKET ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR OF VEHICLE HAVE OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE PLASTIC AROUND LAMP. LAMP WAS BURNT OUT. NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE HIGH HEAT PROBLEM. NO FUSE WAS BLOWN, NEW BULB WORKED IN SOCKET. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. *TR
I DISCOVERED BOTH OF MY REAR BRAKE LIGHT BULBS MELTED IN THEIR SOCKETS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER DIAGNOSED A LEAK AT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE TRANSFER CASE WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 66,000. THE REAR TURN SIGNAL BULBS ON MY 2007 FORD EDGE ARE BURNING OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS OF APPROX EVERY 4-5 MONTH. THE BULBS AND ASSEMBLY BOTH SHOW SIGNS OF BLACKENING AND MELTING. THE ISSUE ONLY SEEMS TO BE WITH THE REAR TURN SIGNALS. I HAVEN'T HAD TO REPLACE ANY OTHER EXTERIOR LIGHTS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN APR 2011. *JS
2007 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER STATES PTU UNIT BROKE AT 85, 0000 MILES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE AND IT BARELY MADE IT INTO THE GARAGE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT FORD DIDN'T HAVE A SUPPLIER TO MAKE THE PART. ON APRIL 25, 2012, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL STATING THE PART WOULD BE MANUFACTURED IN LATE MAY. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT A FIXED SPEED OF 70MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH, THEN SLOWED DOWN, AND REACCELERATED. THE RPM NEEDLE WENT OVER TO 4000. I HAD TO TURN CRUISE CONTROL OFF. IT HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT I HAVE NOTICED THAT DURING WINTER MONTHS, IT ISN'T AN ISSUE, BUT WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARM, THE PROBLEM BECOMES PERSISTENT. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM SO THEY RESET THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM. STILL HAD PROBLEM. *TR
TAIL LIGHTS REPEATEDLY BURN OUT. LIGHT SOCKET IS BLACKENED. APPEARS THE BULB IS RUNNING TOO HOT. THIS OCCURS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
BOTH REAR BRAKE LIGHT SOCKETS ARE BURNT AND MELTED. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED IN COMPLAINT NUMBERS 10439124, 10380902, 10372008, AND 10307462 AS WELL . A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET WILL REVEAL NUMEROUS OWNERS HAVE AND ARE EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT ISSUE. THE SOCKET THAT PLUGS INTO THE BRAKE LIGHT PIGTAIL (ON BOTH SIDES) IS BURNT AND ACTUALLY MELTED. THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS BEEN HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE TAILLIGHT HOUSING ITSELF. AND THIS IS HAPPENING WITHOUT CAUSING A FUSE TO BLOW OR ANY TYPE OF WARNING THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUE. WITH THE RECALL ON THE 2012 REGARDING THE FUEL TANK ISSUE YOU MIGHT THINK SHORTING TAILLIGHTS IN THE SAME VICINITY WOULD BE A NASTY COMBINATION. *TR
THE FIRST TIME WAS ON JAN 14, 2012. THE SWITCH UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT OUT, LEFT ME STRANDED. NOW THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS BAD. WITH NO WARNING, THE BRAKES GOT ROCK HARD AND THEN GO TO THE FLOOR AFTER AWHILE WITH A WHISTLING NOISE. IT TAKES ALOT OF EFFORT TO STOP VEHICLE. I CAME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO CRASHING . I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BOOSTER WAS BAD. . I AM VERY UNHAPPY THAT FORD DON'T SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD TO BE RECALLED. MY WIFE LOVES HER EDGE, BUT IM AFRAID THAT SOMETHING MAY HAPPEN TO MY WIFE AND 2 YEAR LITTLE GIRL WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE THAT THE WHITE FLAKES WERE TOXIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SEATING AT STOP LIGHT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS STOP AT A STOP LITE, I WAS REAR END AT 35 TO 40 MPH AND PUSH IN TO THE. CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR THAT REAR ENDED ME SUBMARINE UNDER MY REAR END CAUSING THE INTERIOR FORCE TO PROPELL ME IN TO THE ROOF , DUE TO THE FORCE MY SEAT BELT BECAME UNLATCHED SENDING ME IN TO ROOF MY LEGS WHERE STRUCK BY THE BOTTOM OF THE STEERING WHEEL MY HEAD HIT THE ROOF ON THE WAY DOWN MY LEFT SHOULD HIT THE DRIVER'S DOOR MY HEAD HIT HIT DRIVER'S WINDOWS. IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH SEAT BELT LATCHES? *TR
THE PTU IS COMPLETELY GONE AND BROKEN AND MUST BE REPLACED, COSTING $2,000 AT MY DEALER. I HAVE GONE ON-LINE AND SEE THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND YEAR. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
THE PTU (POWER TAKE OFF UNIT) ON MY AWD FORD EDGE IS LEAKING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED- PER THE DEALERSHIP- IT SMELLS AND THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS/ MAKES NOISE. THESE ARE ALL KNOWN ISSUES TO FORD AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE ISSUES. THE FOAM SEAL BETWEEN MY WINDSHIELD AND DASH BOARD IS COMING OUT OF THE GAP AND CAUSING VISIBILITY ISSUES AS IT IS DISTRACTING- ANOTHER FORD KNOWN ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE TSB'S AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP WITHOUT ME PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR THEIR ISSUES. *TR
THE MIRRORS ON THE EDGE ARE PLACED SO THAT THEY CONTINUALLY BLOCK ,SIGNIFICANTLY, VISION ON EITHER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THEY ARE PLACED VERY HIGH AND ARE LARGE ENOUGH TO INTERFERE WITH LEFT AND RIGHT VISION. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO HAVE RESULTED IN A LOWERING ON THE FORD 150 TRUCKS WITH THE SAME HIGH MIRROR PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2007 FORD EDGE, BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION NOVEMBER 2011. WHILE DRIVING, PULLING ONTO VERY BUSY HIGHWAY, EDGE SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL. NUMEROUS VEHICLES HAD TO SUDDENLY STOP TO PREVENT FROM CRASHING INTO ME. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS EXTREMELY UPSET, BUT ALSO VERY THANKFUL NO ONE WAS INJURED. NOW THE PROBLEM BEGINS. NOTIFIED CHAPMAN FORD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WAS TOLD TO BRING IN EDGE. EXPLAINED TO SERVICE EDGE SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH WRENCH LIGHT. AFTER PULLING OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD STILL COULD NOT GET CAR TO MOVE. I THEN TURNED CAR OFF FOR A MINUTE OR SO, STARTED UP THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE. AFTER A FEW DAYS I RECEIVED A CALL TELLING ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND WOULD COST 674.00 DOLLARS SINCE THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SO, THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. NOW MY EDGE BEGAN HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM 1 MONTH AGO, WAS TOLD NOW IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION! PROBLEM IS WARRANTY EXPIRED 1 MONTH AGO. TIRED TO EXPLAIN HAD THE PROBLEM BEEN CORRECTED THE FIRST TIME, TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN UNDER WARRANTY. SPOKE WITH NUMEROUS PEOPLE INCLUDING FORD, TO BE TOLD THE SAME THING "WE CAN'T HELP SORRY YOUR WARRANTY EXPIRED". I AM NOW DRIVING MY EDGE WITH FEAR THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. IT GIVES NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER, BY THE WAY MY EDGE ONLY HAS 28,000 MILES AND IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND FORD DOES NOT SEEN TO WANT TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY, NO ONE WILL GET SERIOUSLY HURT AND FORD WILL STAND BY THERE EDGE! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR WITHIN VAPORS THE VEHICLE WHICH BECAME EXTREMELY WORSE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL CELL WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER NOTICED THAT THE FUEL CELL WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE SEAMS. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT ADVISED HAVING THE FUEL TANK REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. ..UPDATED 03/28/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL CELL WAS REPLACED WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM FORD. UPDATED 06/15/2012 *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I CALLED A DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY A PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION AND THAT I SHOULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT ON AGAIN WHICH I DID. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED A SENSOR IT APPROXIMATELY, 1 YEAR AFTER THIS INCIDENCE, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AROUND 55-60 MPH. I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. OTHER CARS WERE BEARING DOWN ON ME AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. FINALLY GOT THE CAR TO MOVE AND DROVE IT HOME, BUT EVERY LIGHT I GOT TO IT WAS HARDER TO ACCELERATE. FINALLY REACHED HOME, AND PUT IT IN REVERSE, IT FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN REAR ENDED BY A TRUCK. SO NEEDLESS TO SAY, FORD ONLY AUTHORIZED THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE SAME SENSOR. I WILL PICK UP MY CAR TODAY, THEY REPLACED THE SAME SENSOR WITH A GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL LAST FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12, 000 MILES. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE SUNROOF BUT IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN APPLIED LUBRICANT TO THE SUNROOF. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE SUNROOF WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE HORN WOULD NOT SOUND WHEN ACTIVATED AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
AFTER PULLING OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE DIDN'T STOP BUT PRESSING GAS DID NOT HELP. WAS FORCED TO COAST TO SIDE, CAR SHUDDERED, THEN STALLED. AFTER WAITING A FEW, CAR STARTED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT A MILE TO A NEARBY REPAIR SHOP. WE WERE CALLED AND ADVISED IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND DUE TO MILES ON THE CAR, IT SHOULD BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP (UNDER WARRANTY). FORD SERVICE COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. WE WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG & TO PICK IT UP. PRIOR TO PICKING UP, WE FOUND A TSB THAT DESCRIBED WHAT WE HAD BUT WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. MAY 2013, CAR DID SAME BUT THIS TIME, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. TOWED (TO ANOTHER FORD SERVICE DEALER),& ISSUE WAS FOUND. REPAIR MADE. NOT SURPRISINGLY, ISSUE WAS SAME TSB WE PULLED IN 2011. 7 MONTHS LATER, CAR SHUDDERED, & STALLED AGAIN. ONLY DIFFERENCE WITH THIS OCCURRENCE IS NOW THE ENGINE DIED. TOWED BACK TO DEALER. WAS INFORMED IT WAS THE PCM OR MAIN COMPUTER WHICH CAUSED THE IGNITION COILS TO BURN UP. SO, IN SHORT, OWNING THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS, HAVING TOWED 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE, ALL IN 3 EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITIONS, HAS LEFT ME WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THIS COMPUTER SOFTWARE ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND BASED ON OTHER COMMENTS FOUND ONLINE, FORD IS NOT WILLING TO TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT WHAT COULD BE A SADDENING FATAL SITUATION. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT FORD IS NOT COOPERATIVE IN RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE. WHILE DRIVING DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND FELT A LOT OF RESISTANCE WITHOUT MUCH BRAKING. AFTER A SECOND OR THREE THE PEDAL STARTED TO PLUNGE TO THE FLOOR APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH GREAT FORCE. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE MASTER BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS WAS AT 61000 AND WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. JUST TODAY APRIL 15, 2014 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND RECEIVED THE SAME PROGNOSIS, THE MASTER BRAKE BOOSTER IS BAD. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 120000 ON IT, KIND OF ODD THAT IT WAS NEARLY THE SAME DURATION FOR THE SECOND ONE TO GO BAD. THIS TIME THE COST IS NEARLY DOUBLE THAT OF LAST TIME. THIS IS ULTIMATELY A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT AS IT QUICKLY HAPPENS AND YOU MAY NOT STOP IN TIME TO AVOID COLLISION. *TT

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY WOULD EXHIBIT A WINING NOISE WHEN DRIVING 25 MPH. THE REAR BEARINGS HAD ALSO FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE REAR HUB ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND IF THE HUB WAS REPLACED, THE TENSION BAR WOULD ALSO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD COVER THE COSTS OF THE REAR HUB ASSEMBLY REPAIRS BUT NOT FOR THE TENSION BAR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

THERE ARE THREE MAIN ISSUES WITH MY 2007 FORD EDGE. FIRST THE BRAKES MAKE NOISES AND SOMETIMES WORK AND SOMETIMES DON'T. THE TIRES KEPT GOING FLAT. I HAVE REPLACED ALL 4 FOUR TIRES AND ONE FRONT AND ONE BACK TIRE TWICE NOW. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS FREQUENTLY. *TR
I BEGAN TO HEAR A ROARING NOISE IN THE REAR WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS THE REAR HUB, BEARINGS , AND ATTACHMENT ARM AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THAT IT COULD LEAD TO A WHEEL COMING OFF , A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS TOLD FORD KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTS AND IS REFERRED TO AS "OF CUSTOMER INTEREST" BUT WAS NOT A RECALL. IF FORD KNOWS OF THE DEFECTIVE PART WHY ARE THEY NOT ISSUING A RECALL? THIS REPAIR COST ME $800. MORE IMPORTANTLY IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FORD SHOULD TELL ITS CUSTOMERS AND PAY FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. *KB
BOTH REAR BRAKE LIGHT SOCKETS HAVE BURNED AND CHARRED. PLASTIC IS MELTED. BULBS BURN OUT REPEATEDLY. FOUND OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND FOUND THE BEST SOLUTION WAS A CERTAIN BULB THAT HAD MORE GLASS AT THE BASE AND IT WAS RATED FOR A HIGHER VOLTAGE. THAT COMPANY HAS NOW DISCONTINUED THAT BULB AS OF JUNE 2014 SO NOW I AM UNSURE IF IT WILL EVENTUALLY CATCH ON FIRE. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THE BULBS BURN OUT A COUPLE OF TIMES A YEAR WITH THE REGULAR STORE BOUGHT BULBS. AGAIN, SOCKET AND END OF BULBS THAT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE SOCKET ARE VERY CHARRED AND MELTED. *JS
THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. I HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AT 51K MILES. I NOW HAVE 85K MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND AS OF 9/5/14, THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS FAILED AGAIN. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A NOISE COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE BRAKES WHENEVER THEY WERE APPLIED, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND WAS LEAKING PREMATURELY. A NEW PART WAS ORDERED AND INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
THE AIR CONDITION STOP WORKING IN MY CAR. I HAD A NEW COMPRESSOR INSTALLED 2012. THE AIR CONDITION UNIT STILL DOES NOT WORK THEY FLUSHED THE LINE AND RAN DYE TO SEE IF I HAD A LINK AND CHECK THE FANS. NO LINK IN THE LINE. I HAVE HAD MY CAR SERVICED BY DEALERSHIP AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIND OUT WHY THIS OCCURRING. DURING THE DAY THE AIR DOES NOT WORK, THE FAN IS RUNNING AND HOT AIR IS COMING OUT OF THE VENTS. YOU CAN HEAR THE FAN CLICK ON HARD WHEN YOUR IDLING AT A RED LIGHT. IF I ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN, THE AIR WILL APPEAR TO GET COOL. WHEN YOU PICKUP SPEED WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN THE AIR BEGINS TO GET COLD, BUT ONCE I CLOSE THE WINDOWS THE AIR STOPS BECOMING COOL AND HOT AIR BLOWS. IT'S BEEN EXTREMELY HOT AND I CAN HAVE A HEAT STROKE AND I HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. I HAVE TO ARRIVE TO WORK AT 7AM WHILE IT'S COOL OUTSIDE AND LEAVE AFTER 7PM WHEN THE SUN BEGINS TO GO DOWN. THIS IS HORRIBLE TO PAY > $30K FOR A VEHICLE AND THE AIR CONDITION DOES NOT WORK. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN. *JS

OK, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE AND IT IS HAVING HARD ENGAGEMENT ISSUES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. ALSO, A COUPLE OF TIMES I HAVE BEEN READY TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND IT'S AS IF MY CAR IS SITTING IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, START AND PUT BACK INTO DRIVE FOR IT TO START GOING AGAIN. VERY UNSAFE AND WORRIES ME DRIVING MY KIDS AROUND IN THE CAR WITH THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS WITH THESE PROBLEMS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT "THROWING A CODE" SO BASICALLY THERE IS NOT A FIX. THEY DO HOWEVER ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE COMPLAINTS AND A DEFINITE ISSUE BUT THEY COULD DO NOTHING UNLESS A RECALL WAS DONE. IT'S GETTING WORSE AND THE OTHER DAY I TOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE AND WAS TOLD FORD HAS AN UPDATE NOW TO HELP SOME OF THE ISSUES PCM UPDATE TO THE COMPUTER. 2007 FORD EDGE WILL ROLL BACKWARD WHEN ON THE SLIGHTEST INCLINE WHILE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP ROLLING UNTIL THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED OR IT SETTLES ON FLAT GROUND. IT ALSO DOES THIS IN REVERSE AND YOU ARE POINTED DOWNHILL. I RECENTLY WAS PARKED IN A DOWNHILL POSITION, RELEASED THE PARK BRAKE, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO STOP THE EDGE FROM SLAMMING INTO A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE EDGE STARTED TO QUICKLY GO DOWNHILL AND I HAD TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY TO GO IN REVERSE AND MISS THE OTHER VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEMS SEEMS TO GETTING WORSE AS THE MILEAGE BUILDS. I CURRENTLY HAVE 72,000 MILES ON THE EDGE. I TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO GREENWOOD FORD IN BOWLING GREEN, KY AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NORMAL AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THEIR SERVICE MANAGER TOOK ME FOR A DRIVE IN A 2010 EDGE AND IT DID THE SAME THING. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. *TR

MY WHEEL BEARING WENT OUT IN RIGHT REAR AND IT WAS FIXED. TURNED ON CAR, ONCE WE PUT IT IN DRIVE, COULD GET NO FORWARD MOTION WITH ACCELERATION, MINIMAL FORWARD MOTIONS WHEN WE FLOORED IT. PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THERE WAS A HEAVY KNOCK AND FELT LIKE THE ENGINE FELL OUT OF THE CAR. WE TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED A BIT AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT DROVE NORMALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED A DOZEN OR SO TIMES, BUT RECENTLY OCCURRED AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING NORMALLY AND CAME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN BUT COULDN'T GO. I PUT THE CAR IN LOW GEAR AND IT MOVED SLOWLY FORWARD, THEN AFTER A BIT I SHIFTED IT BACK UP TO NORMAL AND THE GEAR ENGAGED AGAIN. SCARY IF YOU CAN'T MOVE WHEN NEEDED! I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING A CHUGGING WHEN I ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 40MPH... IT STUTTERS.. WHO KNOWS WHAT THAT IS! I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED MY PROB. AT ABOUT 55000 MILES... CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A DEFECTIVE PTU ASSEMBLY IN VEHICLE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, FOR AN OIL LEAK AT THE PTU VENT, THE ENTIRE PTU ASSEMBLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. AT THE TIME OF SERVICE, THE VEHICLE HAD 54,708 MILES AND IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ON MARCH 23, 2013, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A DIAGNOSIS REVEALED A DAMAGED PTU ASSEMBLY.
I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN FACING SOUTH WITH A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WHEN AN ON COMING VEHICLE TRAVELING SOUTH RAN THROUGH THE NORTHBOUND STOP SIGN AND CROSSED INTO THE SOUTHBOUND LANE STRIKING MY VEHICLE HEAD ON. AT THE TIME OF IMPACT NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED.
