TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE VEHICLE HAS HANKOOK DYNAPRO AS, SIZE P235/70R17S TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE TIRES DO NOT GRIP AND THE ABS ACTIVATES. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE STOPPING DISTANCE BETWEEN HIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS IS TOO EXCESSIVE. HE ALSO FEELS THAT THE TIRES ARE THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 1,250.
WE OWN A 2007 EDGE SEL AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LIGHT CONSTANTLY BURNS OUT. THE BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED COUNTLESS TIMES AND THE SOCKET IS MELTED. I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE. A CLICKING NOISE HAS ALSO DEVELOPED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL RECENTLY, HOWEVER WE HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING RELATED TO OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS VERY LOW MILES (24,000) AND THIS SEEMS ODD. I HOPE THIS INFORMATION HELPS OTHERS. *TR
ON 7/30/2007 I PURCHASED A 2007 FORD EDGE 4DR AWD SEL PLUS FROM GARY CROSSLEY FORD OF KANSAS CITY, MO. ON 1/22/2008 WITH 9,581 MILES ON VEHICLE I TOOK CAR TO DEALER ACCOUNT A ROTATIONAL RUBBING NOISE. WHICH I ASSUMED WAS A BRAKE PROBLEM. ON 2/22/2008 WITH 10,271 MILES RETURNED TO DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL FOLLOW UP ON BRAKE(?) NOISE. ON 2/26/2008 WITH 10,710 MILES RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL WORK TO CORRECT ROTATIONAL RUBBING NOISE. ON 2/29/2008 RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALER WITH SAME COMPLAINT AND AT THIS TIME THEY REPLACED ALL FOUR (4) BRAKE ROTORS AND ALL BRAKE PADS. THIS REPAIRED PROBLEM UNTIL APPROX. 21,918 MILES ON VEHICLE WHEN THE ROTATIONAL RUBBING SOUND RETURNED. I NOTIFIED DEALER BUT WAS GOING ON A VACATION AND COULD NOT HAVE REPAIR WORK DONE AT THAT TIME. ON 1/8/2009 WITH 23,918 MILES ON VEHICLE I RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP WITH SAME PROBLEM. THEY ADVISED AT THAT TIME THAT THE BRAKES HAD 12,000 MILE WARRANTY AND I WAS OUT OF LUCK. I CALLED 1-800-392-FORD AND THEY PLACED A COMPLAINT WITH THE FORD CUSTOMER CARE SERVICE TEAM AND WHEN SABRINA OF THE CUSTOMER CARE SERVICE TEAM RESPONDED TO ME SHE ADVISED THAT SHE HAD TALKED WITH GARY CROSSLEY FORD OF KANSAS CITY, MO AND COULD NOT HELP ADDITIONALLY. I DO NOT THINK THAT IT IS SAFE DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH THE AMOUNT OF BRAKE NOISE THAT IS PRESENT. AT THE PRESENT TIME THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT AND I WANT TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHEN THE CONTACT PULLED INTO HIS DRIVEWAY, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHILE CHECKING THE TIRE, THE RIM SPLIT IN HALF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY METAL FATIGUE AND THEY COULD WARRANTY ONE RIM, BUT NOT BOTH. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,450.
RE: FORD EDGE TURNED LEFT INTO PARKING LOT. RT REAR TIRE HIT CURB. DROVE STRAIGHT INTO PARKING SPACE ALMOST STOPPED. CAR ACCELERATED, BECAME AIRBORN, MADE SHARP LEFT. 40MPR WITHIN 35-40 FT. HIT STEEL POLE/CONCRETE HEAD ON. FRONT & SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY & SEAT BELTS DID NOT HOLD OCCUPANTS. BELIEVE COMPUTER TOOK OVER AFTER HITTING TIRE. COMPUTER IS TO BRING CAR INTO CONTROL AS IF OUT OF CONTROL ON ICE OR SNOW BUT CONDITIONS WERE DRY. POLICE CLAIM DRIVER STEPPED ON GAS INSTEAD OF BRAKE. REPORTED TO FORD. FORD RESPONDED THEY HAD NO RECALLS, AND WERE NOT ABLE TO HELP. EDGE WAS NEW MODEL & NO TIME HAD BEEN ALLOWED FOR RECALLS. CAR REPAIRED AFTER 2 MONTHS. ATTORNEYS WANTED $50,000 UP FRONT TO INVESTIGATE. OWNER DID NOT HAVE THE FINANCES TO CONTINUE. 2 YEARS OF REHAB & RECOVERY WITH ONGOING MEDICAL CONDITIONS. FORD NEEDS REPORTED/INVESTIGATED, SAME AS TOYOTA. SEVERAL WITNESSES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GLARE FROM THE SUN REFLECTS OFF OF THE DASHBOARD, WHICH CAUSES POOR VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. HE CALLED FORD AND THEY NOTATED HIS CASE; HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT SAY WHETHER THEY WOULD REPAIR THE FAILURE. FORD STATED THAT THE FAILURE IS NOT ABOUT HOW THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND IS NOT AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000. UPDATED 05/05/08 *BF
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR TWO HOURS, THE BRAKES MADE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE BRAKES, BUT THERE IS A TSB. THE TSB NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.
ON THE 2007,2008 FORD EDGE WITH TAN OR BEIGE DASH PANELS THE GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD IS SO BAD IT INTERFERE WITH STRAIGHT-AHEAD VISION OF THE ROAD. AFTER 2-3 HOURS OF DRIVING MY FORD EDGE I WILL GET A HEADACHE FOLLOWED BY BURNING EYES. IT IS SO BAD I HAVE TO TAKE A RELIEF DRIVER OR STOP FOR A WHILE. *TR

2007 FORD EDGE WITH A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHILE IT IS SUNNY. CONSUMER STATES IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THROUGH THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. DEALER WOULD NOT LET HER TRADE IT IN FOR A BLACK OR GRAY DASHBOARD. *KB
IT WAS AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE IN AUTOMATIC MODE. I WENT TO TURN THE HIGH BEAMS ON BY PULLING THE LEVER TOWARDS ME (THE LEVER SHOULD BE PUSHED AWAY IN THIS CAR BUT I WAS USED TO MY WORK VAN WHERE I PULL THE LEVER), AND THE HIGH BEAMS JUST FLASHED ON AND THEN THE HEADLIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT AND MY WIFE AND I WERE IN COMPLETE DARKNESS DRIVING 45 MPH. *TR

IF I ACCELERATE MORE THAN 15 MPH THE CAR WOULD WHAT I CALL "SLAM" INTO THE NEXT GEAR. WHEN I AM ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR ACCELERATE AND THEN BACK OFF THE GAS AND GO AGAIN OR IF I ACCELERATE INTO THE PASSING LANE THE CAR DOESN'T DRIVE. I HAVE HAD THE CAR TO BETHLEHEM FORD, KELLY FORD IN EMMAUS AND GILBOY FORD IN WHITEHALL FOR THE PROBLEM TWO TIMES AT EACH LOCATION. NO ONE CAN FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG. CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY AND THEY SAY TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR, I TOLD THEM I DID NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY TOLD ME THIS."THE CAR LEARNS HOW YOU DRIVE, SO WHEN YOU DRIVE OUT OF CHARACTER THE CAR BASICALLY REACTS BY TELLING YOU NOW WAIT A MINUTE I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND THE CAR REACTS IN A CONFUSED MANNER". THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE I'M NOT AN AGGRESSIVE DRIVER THAT WHEN I DO DRIVE AGGRESSIVE "THE CAR DOESN'T UNDERSTAND". I DRIVE HIGHWAY EVERY DAY TO AND FROM WORK, I HAVE TO BE AGGRESSIVE MOST OF THE TIME TO SURVIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO COME DOWN THE BLOCK SO I CAN SHOW THEM WHAT THE CAR DOES SINCE IT DOES IT EVERY DAY WHEN I LEAVE WORK BUT THEY TELL ME THEY CAN'T BECAUSE IT IS A LIABILITY ISSUE FOR THEM TO DRIVE IN THE CAR WITH ME. THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR AND CAN'T MAKE IT REPEAT THE SITUATION; I HAVE GONE ON TEST RIDES WITH A MECHANIC AND CAN'T MAKE IT REPEAT THE PROBLEM. I WAS TAKING ONE OF OUR EMPLOYEES TO GO PICK UP ONE OF THE COMPANY VEHICLES AT GILBOY AND I SAID DO YOU WANT ME TO SHOW YOU WHAT MY CAR DOES AND HE SAID YES. SO I MADE THE CAR DO THE SLAMMING INTO GEAR AND HE SAID THAT ISN'T RIGHT HE TRIED TO FIGHT FOR ME AT GILBOY BUT THEY SAID AGAIN NO CODE AND THEY COULDN'T REPEAT THE SITUATION. NOW MY CAR IS ALMOST OUT OF WARRANTY AND STILL NO FIX. I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO MAKE MAJOR REPAIRS TO A CAR THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT NEW AND I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO BUY A NEW CAR. *TR
FOUND DOOR SEAL ON 3 DOOR BAD, FOUND VERY LIGHT TO JUST PRIMER AND CLEAR COAT PAINT ON ALL DOOR JAMS, SOME HINGES. NEWEST IS A SAFETY ITEM. WHILE PUMPING GAS AFTER THE FIRST CLICK GAS SHOT OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. HAPPENED A SECOND TIME AND GAS SOAKED MY WIFE'S CLOTHS. THEN THE TANK CAP LIGHT CAME ON. SEAMS LIKE THE TANK IS NOT VENTING AND AS YOU FILL THE TANK WITH GASOLINE AIR HAS TO ESCAPE AND PUSHES OUT GAS WITH IT. DEALER NOT SURE WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS. DEALER IS REPLACING FILLER NECK. DEALER HAS REPLACED SEALS AND REPAINTED ALL AREAS WERE JUST PRIMER. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND THEY REPLIED WITH IT IS NOT A FORD PROBLEM IT IS THE DEALERS RESPONSIBILITY TO LOOK THE VEHICLE OVER AND HAVE 30 DAYS TO SEND IT BACK. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER 7 TIMES. I THINK FORD NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. I HAVE DRIVEN 700 MILES BACK AND FORTH FOR WARRANTY WORK. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 2700 MILES ON IT AND IS A LITTLE OVER 2 MONTHS OLD. *TR
THE BRAKES SKIP WHEN GOING AT SLOW SPEEDS, SPECIALLY WHEN GOING DOWN ON RAMPS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US SEVERAL TIMES SPECIALLY IN PARKING GARAGES. *TR
PURCHASED A 2007 FORD EDGE SEL PLUS ON 8/31/07. HAD LESS THAN 50 MILES ON IT. FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE, I'VE BEEN SEEING RED FLUID ON THE GROUND WHERE I'VE PARKED. MY HUSBAND BROUGHT THE CAR TO FORD THIS WEEK AND THE REPAIR RECEIPT SHOWS "CK RED FLUID LEAK, RIGHT CENTER FIREWALL AREA. A/C DRAIN DRIPPING ON EXHAUST BRACKET CAUSING RED RUST". IT TURNS OUT THE BRACKET IS RUSTED FROM THE A/C. THE SERVICE GUY AT FORD SAID HE'S NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. HE TOLD US WE SHOULD AVOID THE RUSTING BY NOT PARKING ON AN INCLINE. THAT ISN'T A VERY GOOD RESOLUTION. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY SOME DEFECT IN THE FORD EDGE. PARKING ON AN INCLINE SHOULD BE SOMETHING YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR OWN CAR - ESPECIALLY SINCE MY DRIVEWAY IS ON AN INCLINE. *TR
BLINDING GLARE FROM DASH REFLECTION ON WINDSHIELD, EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD, THIS IS PRESENT IN SUN AND SHADE, WE HAVE BEEN TOLD ITS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED VARIOUS PICTURES OF THE DEFECT. UPDATED 09/19/07 *TR
AFTER DRIVING OUT OF THE DEALERS LOT NOT MORE THAN TEN MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE TPMS SYSTEM WENT OFF TELLING ME I HAD LOW TIRES ON THE VEHICLE (200 MILES ON IT). CALLED DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO AIR UP THE TIRES AND IT WOULD RESET IT'S SELF IN 2 MINUTES. DID NOT HAPPEN. DROVE HOME ONLY TO FIND THAT THE LEFT BACK-UP LIGHT WAS ALSO NOT WORKING. *TR

BEFORE SHE COULD DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACK ON ANY TYPE OF INCLINE WHILE IN THE DRIVE POSITION AND THE DEALER STATED THIS PROCESS IS NORMAL. UPDATED 11/06/07 *TR
"TAKATA RECALL" 16S26 SINCE RECEIVING THIS RECALL IN JUNE 2016 I HAVE BEEN TO THREE DEALERSHIPS WITH THE SAME RESPONSE, "PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE". FORD BOASTS 14 MILLION VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. HOW MANY HAVE BEEN DRIVING UNSAFE SINCE 2007? MUST I WAIT FOR AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE INJURY BEFORE I CAN GET A REPLACEMENT AIRBAG? OBVIOUSLY, A REPLACEMENT WOULD BE FOUND OR PERHAPS THE SOLUTION IS TOTALING THE CAR ALONG WITH POTENTIAL DEATH OR INJURY. THEN ITS JUST ONE LESS AIRBAG TO WORRY ABOUT BUT A HUGE SETTLEMENT FOR THE VICTIMS OR THEIR FAMILIES PAID FOR BY INSURANCE COMPANIES. THIS IS THE AMERICAN WAY????? IF NEW CARS ARE BEING MADE WITH NEW PARTS WHY IN GOD'S NAME CAN'T WE HOLD VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBLE TO GET REPLACEMENT PARTS ON A TIMELY BASIS. NOW TK HOLDINGS HAVE FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. WHAT HOPE IS THERE FOR THIS RECALL TO BE SATISFIED IN A TIMELY MANNER WHEN NOTHING HAS HAPPENED SINCE JUNE 2016. WHO DEFINES "TIMELY". WHY ARE NEW CARS ALLOWED TO BE BUILT AND SOLD WHEN WE CAN'T TAKE CARE OF PREVIOUS DEFECTS IN LAST YEAR'S MODEL? WHERE IS QUALITY CONTROL IN THE FIRST PLACE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND IS AWAITING FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE TO BE DETERMINED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 1,200.
RECENTLY PURCHASE A 2007 FORD EDGE, THIS VEHICLE HAS SUCH A GLARE THAT YOU ONLY HAVE ABOUT 50% VISIBILITY. YOU CAN SEE THE FULL DASH, TO INCLUDE ALL THE VENTS AND OTHER ITEMS ON THE DASH. I CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALER TO WHICH THEY ACTED AS IF "WOW" THIS IS THE FIRST WE HAVE HEARD ABOUT THIS.. THEY ADVISE THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A ANSWER. SO I CONTACT THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPT. I WENT THRU THE PROBLEM WITH THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END OF THE PHONE. HE ACTED SURPRISED AND SAID THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF A PROBLEM LIKE THIS, BUT , GET THIS, HE HAD A READY REMEDY, HE SUGGEST THAT I GO AND BUY A MAT TO COVER THE DASH. I ASK HIM IF HE WOULD WANT TO DO THAT TO A NEW VEHICLE THAT WAS JUST PURCHASED. I SUGGESTED TO HIM THAT HE NEEDS TO GET HIS ENGINEERS AND PERSONS IN AUTHORITY TO READ ALL OF THE BLOGS ON THE FORD WINDSHIELDS , I TOLD HIM THAT I FOUND COMPLAINTS WHERE AS THE CUSTOMERS HAD CONTACT FORD ABOUT A MAJOR GLARE, THAT DATED BACK TO 2005 ON THE EXPLORERS. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO GET THE AUTO MANUFACTURES TO TAKE ACTION, I WILL BE MORE THAT HAPPY TO PROVIDE THE LINKS TO THE COMPLAINTS ON THE FORD EDGE IF NEEDED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *JB
2 TIRES ON 2007 EDGE- 1ST FAILURE WAS 'VALVE STEM PROBLEM' SUDDEN LOSS OF PRESSURE- JULY, 2008 NEAR SHEBOYGAN, WI. 2 HOURS LATER, 1 TIRE -BLOW OUT ON INTERSTATE IN MILWAUKEE. LUCKY TO HAVE MAINTAINED CONTROL OF VEHICLE. BOUGHT 4 NEW TIRES THAT AFTERNOON AS A RESULT OF BEING ON VACATION, AND NEAREST FORD DEALER DID NOT HAVE MATCHING HANKOOK TIRES AVAILABLE. AS NOT HAVING 4 EXACTLY SAME TIRES CAN LEAD TO OTHER DRIVING PROBLEMS, I BOUGHT 4 NEW TIRES TO AVERT ANY FURTHER HARROWING EXPERIENCES ON THE INTERSTATE. *TR
2007 FORD EDGE WITH SEVERAL PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS A LEMON. HERE ARE SOME OF THE CAR'S PROBLEMS REAR BRAKE LIGHTS FILL WITH WATER WHEN IT RAINS. SEAT BROKE, SCREW STICKS UP AND CUT A CHILD'S FOOT, BRAKES FAILED AND MORE. *KB THE PIN IN THE GEAR SHIFT DID NOT ENGAGE PROPERLY, LEAVING THE CONSUMER UNABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THE SUN ROOF MATERIAL CAME APART AND FELL DOWN ONTO THE CONSUMERS HEAD WHILE DRIVING. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FRONT BRAKES AND HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. HE DID NOT KNOW IF THE ODOR WAS MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL. THE BRAKES VIBRATED AND BEGAN TO GRIND WHEN STOPPING OR TURNING THE VEHICLE AT 40 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE STABILITY CONTROL, ABS, OR GENERAL BRAKING SYSTEM. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES AFTER THEIR INITIAL INSPECTION. MOST RECENTLY, THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD ONLY CUT THE ROTORS AND REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE BURNING AROMA. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000.
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
2007 FORD EDGE THE WINDSHIELD OF THIS VEHICLE HAS AN UNACCEPTABLE REFLECTION FROM THE DASHBOARD THAT RESTRICTS AND INTERFERES WITH DRIVER VISION. ALSO THE LIGHT COMING IN FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM HAVING A CLEAR VIEW THE CLOCK OR THE MESSAGE CENTER WHILE DRIVING. THESE ARE EXTREMELY SMALL LETTERS AND NUMBERS AND SUFFER FROM THE REFLECTION FROM THE WINDSHIELD. *JB THE SEVERITY OF THE REFLECTION IS NOT CONSTANT AS LIGHTING CONDITIONS VARY. HOWEVER THE CAMEL DCOR ON THE DASHBOARD ON THE FORD EDGE PROVIDES A CONSTANT FILM APPEARANCE ON THE WINDSHIELD. MOST ANY TIME A QUICK GLANCE OUT THE SIDE WINDOW WILL REVEAL A CLEAR AND CLEAN VISION. PAGE 268 OF THE FORD EDGE OWNER?S GUIDE CAUTIONS, ?AVOID CLEANERS OR POLISHES THAT INCREASE THE GLOSS OF THE UPPER PORTION OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DULL FINISH IN THIS AREA HELPS PROTECT THE DRIVER FROM UNDESIRABLE WINDSHIELD REFLECTION?. ON THE EDGE, FORD INSTALLED A U TYPE ONE INCH CHROME TRIM ON THE DASHBOARD WHICH EXTENDS TO 10? OF THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT PROVIDES A BEAUTIFUL REFLECTION INTO THE WINDSHIELD. TWO ATTENDEES AT A NEW OWNER SEMINAR BY A DEALERSHIP COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS REFLECTION. FORD SHOULD RESEARCH MEANS OF REDUCING EXCESSIVE WINDSHIELD REFLECTION AND PROVIDE CUSTOMERS WITH REMEDIAL ACTION. POLAROID EYE GLASSES HELP. PERHAPS FORD SHOULD PROVIDE THESE. THIS WINDSHIELD VISION IMPAIRMENT IS NOT LIMITED TO FORD PRODUCTS. ANY VEHICLE THAT HAS A MUCH SLANTED WINDSHIELD WILL EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. I OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE, PURCHASED IN MAY 2007. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO "SHUDDER" WHEN UPSHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35-55 MPH. IT IS APPARENT WHEN TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS TO SLOW AND THEN APPLYING GAS TO SPEED BACK UP. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY "FLAT SPOTS" ON THE TIRES AND THE PROBLEN WOULD GO AWAY AFTER 3000 OR SO MILES TO GIVE THE TIRES AN OPPORTUNITY TO ROUND OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN A SECOND TIME AND TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR THEIR TRANSMISSION MECHANIC TO LOOK AT. THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 10 HOURS AND COULDN'T SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG OR GET THE VEHICLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WE BROUGHT IT IN FOR. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 5600 MILES ON IT AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED AGAIN. THIS TIME, I'M GOING TO DEMAND TO TAKE A DRIVE IN ANOTHER EDGE TO SEE IF IT HAS THE SAME SHIFTING PROBLEMS I AM CURRENTLY HAVING.

MY 2007 FORD EDGE ALL WHEEL DRIVE HAS A LEAKING PROBLEM FROM THE TRANSFER CASE. IT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE DAY IT WAS NEW. SEVERAL VISITS TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD IT IS NOT LEAKING ALTHOUGH THERE WAS ALWAYS OIL ON MY DRIVE. I OWN AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP SO I HAD IT IN THE SHOP AND KNEW WITHOUT A DOUBT IT WAS LEAKING. WHAT MAKES IT DANGEROUS IS THE LEAK DRIPS DIRECTLY ON THE EXHAUST PIPE WHICH IS RIGHT BELOW THE TRANSFER CASE. YOU CAN SMELL BURNING OIL AND IT SMOKES A LOT OF TIMES WHEN STOPPING AT STOP SIGNS. THE DEALER HAS WENT AS FAR AS REPLACING THE TRANSFER CASE. THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW MONTHS BUT THE LEAK ALWAYS COMES BACK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND ON FORDEDGEFORUM.COM HAVE FOUND MANY OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID FORD IS NOT ABLE TO FIND A PERMANENT FIX FOR THE PROBLEM AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET BURNED. I HAVE READ OF THESE VEHICLES CATCHING ON FIRE BUT HAVE NOT HEARD THE CAUSE. THIS LEAK COULD BE CAUSING IT. IN MY OWN REPAIR SHOP I HAVE NOTICED CUSTOMER VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME LEAK AS MINE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. THIS AFFECTS THE 2007 AND 2008 FORD EDGE AND LINCOLN MKX MODELS THAT ARE ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND HAVE A TRANSFER CASE OR "PTU UNIT." *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE STOPPED ON THE INTERSTATE, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING BETWEEN 30 AND 50 MPH. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S SEAT DETACHED FROM THE TRACK AND PUSHED THE CONTACT INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,300.
PURCHASED A NEW FORD EDGE ON 12/29/06. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR AT LEAST 7 TIMES. CALLED MY SERVICING DEALER , CALLED LOCAL DEALER. VISITED 10 DIFFERENT AUTO AGENCY'S TO DISCUSS PROBLEM. FORD HAS DESIGNED THE WINDSHIELD SO THAT THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD SHOWS UP AS A DOUBLE IMAGE IN THE WINDSHIELD! THIS IS NOT JUST A LITTLE PORTION , BUT THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GLASS MANUFACTURES, TINTING COMPANIES ETC., ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I AM WASTING MY TIME. IN FACT AFTER NUMEROUS TRIES WITH FORD MOTOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAY AND I QUOTE THAT MY PROBLEM HAS BEEN APPROPRIATELY ADDRESSED, AND THAT THE PROBLEM IS A NORMAL VEHICLE CHARACTERISTIC ! I PURCHASED THIS FORD EDGE IN GOOD FAITH, AND CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SAFE, IN FACT I CONTACTED CONSUMER REPORT, AND THEY SUGGESTED I CONTACT YOUR OFFICE. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE SUN IS SHINING OR IF THE SUN IS NOT SHINING, YOU CAN NOT SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD SAFELY, YOU MUST WHERE POLORIZED SUN GLASSES AT ALL TIMES, INCLUDING AT DUSK. THIS IS WRONG. I HAVE DONE AND SAID EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE FORD AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND I GOT NOWHERE. THE NEXT STEP IS TO VISIT A OPTHAMOLOGIST TO SEE WHAT DAMAGE IS BEING DONE TO THE EYE. IN 6 MONTHS THIS FORD EDGE HAS BEEN DRIVEN ONLY 1500 MILES, BY MY WIFE, AND I DROVE IT ANOTHER 1000 MILES JUST TO SEE IF IT WAS JUST ME. AFTER A LONG TRIP, I GUARANTEE YOU WILL BE TAKING A NAP TO REST YOUR EYES. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I ALSO FOUND UPON INSPECTION OF OTHER MAKE CROSS OVERS, THAT FORD IS RIGHT, THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE NEW CROSS OVERS. I DRIVE A CADILIAC ESCALADE EXT, AND I DO NOT HAVE TO WHERE SUN GLASSES TO DRIVE THIS PICKUP. I HOPE THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET, AS I REALLY THINK THIS CAN BE SERIOUS! TAKATA RECALL .IN MARCH 2017 I RECEIVED THE FIRST NOTICE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER WHO STATED HE DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS ND SUGGESTED TRYING A SOUTHERN DEALER. I DID SO IN MARCH 2018. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. I RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE IN MAY 2018 AND AGAIN WENT TO A DEALER - THEY HAD NO PARTS. RECENTLY I RECEIVED A POSTE CARD ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT BUT STILL NO AIRBAG AND NO RESOLUTION. WHAT NOW?
