4/29/19 - DRIVING ON 400 N, ENTRANCE RAMP TO I-285 E, MOVING APPROX 25 MPH, ATLANTA, GA. FRONT RT RIM FAILED, SPLIT IN HALF, RESULTING IN $2100 DAMAGE TO TIRE, RIM, STRUTS, BEARINGS, ETC. DEFINITELY DID NOT HIT A CURB, POTHOLE, OR ROAD DEBRIS; IMPACT W/ROAD WAS INSTANTANEOUS
FUEL LEAK AND MAJOR WATER CORROSION TO UNDERCARRIAGE OF CAR. TRIED TO GET WHEEL BARRINGS DONE AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD HAVE TO BE WELDED OFF AND ON. I AM STILL PAYING ON THIS CAR AND IT IS UNSAFE. THEY PRICED THIS CAR AT 10000 WITH FINANCE CHARGE WHEN I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS 6500 I PUT 1500 DOWN PLUS 746 MAKE UP DOWNPAYMENT. I HAVE STILL BEEN PAYING ON IT AND I DO NOT BELIEVE I SHOULD BE BECAUSE IT CANT BE WORTH THAT MUCH IF THIS WAS A FLOOD CAR. THE CAR MAKE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHICH IS THE WHEEL BARRING BUT CANNOT BE EASILY FIXED. AND WILL COST ME ALOT OF MONEY WHILE IM STILL PAYING
MASTER CYLINDER PROBLEM CAUSING WEAK BRAKES ON 2007 FORD EDGE SEL REQUIRING MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE EQUIPPED WITH MIRADA CROSS TOUR SLX TIRES, SIZE: 245/60R18 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THERE WAS A KNOT AND VIBRATION IN THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE THREAD AND SIDEWALL SEPARATED FROM ALL THE TIRES. THE FRONT TIRES AND THE REAR DRIVER TIRE WERE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12T014000 (TIRES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
LOUD HUMMING SOUND FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR, SOUND STARTED SLIGHTLY THEN BECOMING VERY LOUD, ACCORDING TO DEALER BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO INFORMED THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL BUT HAS PROVIDED DEALER WITH TECHNICAL DATA IN THIS REGARD. NOTE ALSO TOOK EXTENDED CAR WARRANTY TO 60,000 MILES BUT NEVER EXPECTED FAILURE TO WHEEL BEARING TO FAIL AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. NUMEROUS COMMENTS ON THIS HAPPENING WITH 2007 EDGES IN THE ON-LINE DATABASE. FORD QUALITY??? *TR
I BEGAN TO HEAR A ROARING NOISE IN THE REAR WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS THE REAR HUB, BEARINGS , AND ATTACHMENT ARM AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THAT IT COULD LEAD TO A WHEEL COMING OFF , A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS TOLD FORD KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTS AND IS REFERRED TO AS "OF CUSTOMER INTEREST" BUT WAS NOT A RECALL. IF FORD KNOWS OF THE DEFECTIVE PART WHY ARE THEY NOT ISSUING A RECALL? THIS REPAIR COST ME $800. MORE IMPORTANTLY IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FORD SHOULD TELL ITS CUSTOMERS AND PAY FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. *KB
MY WHEEL BEARING WENT OUT IN RIGHT REAR AND IT WAS FIXED. FORD EDGE WHEEL BEARINGS BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO DAVID SELF FORD IN ORANGE, TEXAS DUE TO NOSE COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2010 - WAS TOLD WHEEL BEARING WAS OUT, AND I HAD DAVID SELF FORD REPLACE FOR AROUND $500. NOW FEBRUARY 2012 THIS IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD BOTH BEARINGS ARE OUT, AND OF COURSE WILL BE AROUND $1000 TO FIX. RESEARCHING THIS VIA GOOGLE, AND THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT FORD EDGE WHEEL BEARINGS GOING OUT ON FORD EDGE MODELS BETWEEN 2007-2010 MAKES. TALKING WITH OTHERS THEY ARE SAYING IF THESE BEARINGS GO OUT COMPLETELY THIS WILL LOCK UP THE BACK WHEELS AND WILL STOP ROLLING COMPLETELY. TO ME THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, HOWEVER REPORTING THIS TO FORD THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS POINT. 1. WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN MY 2007 FORD EDGE SEL WITH HANKOOK TIRES, WHEN THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT TURNED ON. 2. AT WORK, I FOUND A TIRE WAS AT 20 PSI AND LEAKING FROM A CRACK AT THE BASE OF THE VALVE STEM. I INSPECTED THE THREE OTHER STEMS AND FOUND THEM WITH CRACKS AT THE BASE OF THE VALVE STEM. 3. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LEAKING VALVE STEM. THEY DID NOT TOUCH THE OTHER THREE VALVE STEMS. THE VERY NEXT DAY, ANOTHER VALVE STEM FAILED AND BEGAN TO LEAK. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES SIZE P245/60 R18-------104T THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FRONT TIRES HAVE WORN DOWN DRAMATICALLY AND THE BACK TIRES HAVE WORN DOWN ON THE INSIDES ONLY, WHICH WASN'T SEEN UNTIL THE TIRES WERE ROTATED IN SEPTEMBER. NOW THAT THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED THE TIRES THAT WERE REMOVED FROM THE BACK AND PUT ON THE FRONT ARE NOW WEARING DOWN, LIKE THE ONES THAT WERE IN THE FRONT DID. I HAVE CONTACTED CONTINENTAL TIRE WHO SAYS THE PROBLEM BELONGS TO FORD AND FORD SAYS THE PROBLEM IS THE TIRE COMPANIES PROBLEM. I HAVE A 3 YEAR 36,000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY AND THEY DENY HAVING ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND CONTINENTAL TIRE SAYS THEY DON'T WARRANTY THE TIRES FOR THE PURCHASER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
WE OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE AND DURING OUR TRIP THIS PAST WEEKEND HAD TWO OF THE FOUR VALVE STEMS GO BAD ON US AND CAUSE THE SENSOR TO ACTIVATE. WHEN WE CHECKED EACH TIME WE FOUND THAT THE STEMS HAD "SPLIT" AND AIR WAS COMING OUT CAUSING FLAT TIRES. THE FIRST EVENT WAS ON THE 30TH OF JULY ON OUR WAY TO DESTINATION AND THE SECOND WAS ON THE 2ND OF AUGUST ON OUR WAY BACK HOME. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY FRUSTRATING AS WE WERE IN A NOMANS LAND AREA WITH NO SERVICES AND HAD TO LIMP FOR A FEW HOURS ON THE DONUT SPARE TIRE TO GET TO A TOWN THAT HAD SERVICE. SUDDEN DEFLATION OF FRONT DRIVERS TIRE. UPON INSPECTION THREE OF THE FOUR TIRE VALVE STEMS ON THE VEHICLE ARE CRACKED. ALSO THE SCISSOR TYPE JACK PROVIDED IN THE FORD EDGE COLLAPSED UNDER THE WEIGHT OF THE SUV. HAD TO CALL 911 FOR A TOW TRUCK. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

IN SEPT. WE NOTICED THAT WE WERE LOSING AIR IN OUR TIRES, UPON CLOSER LOOK WE DISCOVERED THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE CRACKED AROUND THE BOTTOM. WE TOOK THE CAR INTO OUR NEAREST FORD DEALER AND AT A COST OF $42.39 THEY PUT FOUR NEW TIRE VALVE STEMS ON. *TR
