TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED AGGRESSIVELY FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MAY HAVE FAILED AND MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON MY EDGE DECELERATES TO TEN MILES AN HOUR WHILE THE TACH READS 3RPMS IT HAS HAPPENED ON ALL TYPES OF ROADS AND IN TRAFFIC ALSO. THE TRANNY FLUID IS ALWAYS FINE. NO CODES ON DASH EITHER. I HAVE MY GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WILL ONLY CREEP AT 10 MPH. WHEN IT REENGAGES IT IS A LARGE HARD JERK FORWARD. ONE EVENING AS I PULLED INTO MY OWN DRIVEWAY IT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD AT ALL I SHUT IT OFF WAITED RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. IT DOES STUDDER A BIT GOING UPHILL ALMOST LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO THEN IT DOES. FOR A WHILE I THOUGHT IT WAS THINGS LIKE BAD GAS DIRT IN A FUEL LINE LOW FLUIDS BUT IT ISN'T THIS 2008S NEED A RECALL AS MANY OTHER EDGE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE MADE AN APPT FOR THE CAR AT THE DEALER AND I AM NOT CONVINCED THEY KNOW THE ANSWER EITHER. I RECEIVED THE RECALL FOR THE GAS TANK , BUT I WANT ONE FOR THIS AS I AND MANY OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME SCARY POWER TRAIN ISSUES REPORTED TO YOU NHTSA PLEASE HELP US . I WANT A RECALL FREE REPAIRS OR A TRADE IN WITH OUT BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM THANK YOU SAYLORSBURG PENNSYLVANIA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE ODOMETER AND AIR BAG INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS AT ZERO. THE CONTACT DROVE TO A STOP SIGN AND ROLLED TO SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO A FUEL STATION AND THEN TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A LOCAL DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ASKED THAT THE VEHICLE BE BROUGHT TO THE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION COIL, POWER CONTROL MODULE, AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS ANOTHER 2008 FORD EDGE DRIVER DESCRIBED ON THE COMPLAINT/INVESTIGATION PAGE. I AM ACTUALLY GOING TO COPY AND PASTE HER COMPLAINT. DRIVING STRAIGHT ON FREEWAY AT 60 MPH AND THE DASH SUDDENLY DISPLAYS ODO ERROR. WRENCH LIGHT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT, AND AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON. SPEEDOMETER SHOWS 0 MPH BUT TACH STILL WORKS. AFTER I STOP THE CAR AND TRY TO TAKE OFF AGAIN IT HAS NO PICKUP. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN 5TH GEAR OR OVERDRIVE. TACH GOES UP TO 2500 RPM BUT VEHICLE BARELY MOVES. WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION MAKES A HORRIBLE CLUNKING NOISE THAT MAKES ME THINK IT WILL COME OUT OF THE BODY. THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET THE CAR DRIVEABLE AGAIN IS TO DISCONNECT BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RECONNECT. EVERYTHING RESETS AND WORKS BUT OCCURS AGAIN-SOMETIMES A WEEK LATER, SOMETIMES A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND IT ALSO HAPPENED TO MY 17-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER LAST WEEK. MY HUSBAND HAD TO GO OUT AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO SHE COULD SAFELY DRIVE BACK HOME. AND IT IS VERY RANDOM WHEN IT HAPPENS. I DRIVE HIGHWAYS AND COUNTY ROADS FOR WORK AND SOMETIMES THERE IS NOWHERE TO PULL OVER! I'M A NURSE AND A PARAMEDIC...I DONT WANT TO BE A PATIENT! IT HAS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND A FIX FOUND!!! AS EVERYONE ELSE, LOSES ACCELERATION, SHUT OFF AND IT SEEMS FINE LATER. HIGH RPM NO POWER, AS IF IT CANT SHIFT. NO ERROR LIGHTS, SHAKING ALONG WITH SPUTTERING WHEN IT HAS A LOAD.....VERY DANGEROUS AS I DRIVE MAJOR HIGHWAY DAILY. HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY NOW
FIRST I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY BREAKS STARTED TO FEEL LIKE THEY WERE LOCKING UP. COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS THE POWER BREAK BOOSTER WHICH COST ME $504.00. THEN 2 WEEKS LATER MY CAR STARTS TO DO A PUTTING FEELING AND COME TO FIND OUT 2 OF THE COILS BURNT UP THE POWER CONTROL MODULE COSTING ME $1058.00. A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THIS IT WAS IN THE FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF A LEAK ON THE FUEL PUMP. COSTING ME $216. I AM FURIOUS I HAVE HAD TO SPEND THIS IN THE LAST MONTH. I JUST SEEN ON THE NEWS THAT FORD HAS A RECALL ON THE POWER CONTROL MODULE BUT IT WAS NOT MY YEAR. I AM SIMPLY ASKING IF SOMEONE WOULD PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SO MAYBE I CAN GET SOME OF THIS MONEY BACK TO PAY OFF THE DEBT IT CAUSED ME.
PULLED IN PARKING LOT,PUT TRANSMISSION IN PARK,AND ENGINE BEGAN TO INCREASE IN RPM TO 2500-2600,I NOTICED DRIVING HOME IT SEEMED AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED (IT WAS NOT). APPLYING THE BRAKE GENTLY (WOULD NOT CORRECT)IF BRAKE WAS APPLIED VERY FIRMLY,IT WOULD FINALLY LET THE RPM DROP BACK TO NORMAL,
REAR TURN LIGHT SOCKETS BURN UP WITH NO WARNING LIGHT TO DISPLAY THAT YOUR REAR LIGHTS NO LONGER WORK. YOU DO NOT KNOW UNTIL THE POLICE PULLS YOU OVER TO TELL YOU WHICH CAN RESULT IN FINES. I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE BOTH REAR LIGHT SOCKETS (APPROX. $150)

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
MY RADIO HAS A SHORT IN THE HARDWARE. FACTORY INSTALLED RADIO AND IT WILL TURN OFF AND TURN BACK ON REPETITIVELY SOME DAYS, NOT ALLOWING ME TO UTILIZE SYNC. TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED KICKING INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE PAST MONTH. WHILE DRIVING AND SLOWING DOWN.
RECALL 13N02 COVERS THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN 2010-2015 FORD EDGE. MY 2008 EDGE HAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS DIAGNOSED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP. IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE EXACT SAME COMPONENT. THE REPLACEMENT PART FOR EITHER IS THE EXACT SAME, AS I VERIFIED WITH NUMEROUS SUPPLIERS. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER MORE YEARS, AS MY WIFE NOW DRIVES AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. FORD REDESIGNED THE EDGE FOR THE 2010 MODEL YEAR BUT USED THE EXACT SAME, NOW RECALLED COMPONENT. BRAKING IS DIFFICULT AT ALL SPEEDS, MUCH HARDER THAN THE DAYS BEFORE POWER BRAKES.

I GOT A NOTICE BY MAIL THAT MY PASSENGER AIRBAG MAY RUPTURE IF USED. THERE IS A RECALL. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND NO FORD DEALERSHIP WILL FIX IT, TELLING ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIP MANAGERS, AND EVEN CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS AND THEY CREATED A CASE NUMBER BECAUSE I WAS TELLING THEM THAT THIS IS NOT RIGHT TO MAKE ME WAIT SO LONG TO DRIVE A SAFE CAR AND THAT THEY WERE PUTTING MY FAMILY AT RISK DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE.

TAKATA RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT TO ME ON JULY 2016 BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THIS "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" STATES THAT MY INFLATOR IS LIKELY DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TAKATA RECALL - I STILL CAN'T GET MY AIRBAG REPAIRED. I NEED HELP BECAUSE I THINK THAT THEY ARE IGNORING MY COMPLAINTS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I CAN DO, I DO NOT WANT TO GET HURT IN MY CAR!
WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ALL OF A SUDDEN MY AIRBAG AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAVE NO SPEEDOMETER OR TACHOMETER READING. IF I PULLED OVER AND STARTING DRIVING AGAIN I HAD VERY LITTLE PICKUP EVEN THOUGH THE RPMS WERE OVER 2,000. THERE IS ALSO A VERY LOUD CLUNK WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE.
BRAKES BEGAN TO "HISS" AND THEN OVER A 3 MONTH PERIOD BECAME INEFFECTIVE AT STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL OF MY CAR BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.

TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN JULY 2016. I JUST CALLED THE FORD DEALER, AND THEY SAID THERE ARE STILL NO AIRBAGS AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL. MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS A TIMELY MANNER? I WAITED OVER A YEAR AND 3 MONTHS AND STILL NO REPLACEMENT. IF THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL, FORD AND ITS VENDORS ARE NOT MAKING EFFORTS TO FIX THIS. IN FACT I THINK TAKATA AND FORD ARE REALLY NOT CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY...
TAKATA RECALL. I WAS NOTIFIED JULY 2016 ,THAT MY PASSENGER AIR BAG BY TAKATA ARE DEFECTIVE. UNTIL IT IS REPLACED I SHOULD NOT HAVE ANYONE RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. SO FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS I HAVE TO TELL FRIENDS AND FAMILY NOT TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH FORD.. I THINK THE TIME IS WAY TOO LONG. NOT GREAT PR FOR FORD .I AM READY TO PUT A SIGN IN MY CAR WINDOW. DON`T BUY A FORD EDGE . NO ONE CAN RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE., BECAUSE OF DEFECTIVE AIRBAG

MAK HAIK FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT: 7201 SOUTH IH-35, GEORGETOWN, TX 78626, TEL: (888)483-1203 WAS CONTACTED, AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOTIFY VEHICLE OWNERS WITH A SECOND NOTIFICATION WHEN THE REMEDY PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE PARTS AVAILABILITY INFORMATION. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN TOOL CONFIRMS REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. NOTIFIED OF RECALL ON JULY 2016. STILL NOT REPAIRED AND NO DATE FOR REPAIRS. FORD REFUSES TO GIVE A RENTAL CAR. YET IT HAS BEEN 15 MONTHS SINCE BEING NOTIFIED. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND A FORD REPRESENTATIVE NAMED ANN AT 800-392-3673 WITH NO RESULTS. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO USE MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I LIVE IN A SOUTHERN STATE WITH HIGH HUMIDITY AND MY CAR IS OLDER(2008). WHAT CAN I DO TO EXPEDITE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG OR HAVE FORD SUPPLY ME WITH A RENTAL CAR. *JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH SUNLAND FORD (15330 PALMDALE RD, VICTORVILLE, CA 92392) WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA INFLATORS THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT. THE FIRST ONE, MADE IN DECEMBER 2017, DOES NOT SHOW UP UNDER THE COMPLAINTS SECTION, WHICH MAKES IT SEEM LIKE PERHAPS ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ARE NOT RECORDED APPROPRIATELY BY THE NHTSA! THE FIRST NOTIFICATION OF THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS RECEIVED IN JULY 2016. EACH TIME I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SINCE THEN, I HAVE BEEN TOLD REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS ARE STILL UNAVAILABLE FOR MY 2008 FORD EDGE. I SEE ON THIS SITE THAT SOME OWNERS HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER TELLING THEM NOT TO USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THAT WOULD BE COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, AS THE REASON WE PURCHASED THE FORD EDGE WAS SO THAT WE WOULD HAVE ENOUGH SEATS TO SAFELY TRANSPORT OUR FAMILY MEMBERS. THERE IS NO WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAGS, ACCORDING TO THE VEHICLE'S MANUAL, AND I AM TERRIFIED THE AIRBAG WILL CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURIES TO ME, MY SPOUSE, ONE OF MY CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN. IT IS TAKING A TOLL ON MY PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELL-BEING WHENEVER I HAVE TO DRIVE MY CAR. I CANNOT SELL MY CAR THRU CARMAX OR ONE OF THE OTHER SITES, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT ACCEPT VEHICLES WITH UNADDRESSED RECALLS. AND IT WOULD BE MORALLY AND ETHICALLY WRONG TO SELL A DANGEROUSLY DEFECTIVE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL WITHOUT DISCLOSING THE AIRBAG DEFECT. AND WHO WOULD WANT TO BUY A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE! SO I CANNOT EVEN PURCHASE A NEW SAFE VEHICLE IN WHICH TO TRANSPORT MY LOVED ONES!! THIS AIRBAG RECALL SITUATION HAS ALREADY TAKEN AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO RESOLVE; WITH NO ANTICIPATED RESOLUTION IN THE FUTURE! DOES ANYONE AT THE NHTSA HAVE ANY IDEA WHEN THIS SITUATION MIGHT BE RESOLVED? THANK YOU.
TAKATA RECALL. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL IN JULY 2016. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS REPAIR COULD NOT BE DONE FOR A WHILE. I HAVE BEEN CHECKING BACK WITH THEM TO NO AVAIL. IN JUNE OF 2018, I RECEIVED A LETTER THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE IN SEPT OF 2018. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER IN SEPT. AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS, BUT IT WOULD BE ANY DAY NOW. I CHECK AGAIN IN OCT. AN WAS TOLD THAT FORD MADE AN ERROR IN SHIPPING OUT THE PARTS TO THE DEALERS AND NOW THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE REPAIR WILL BE DONE. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE NO WAY TO CONTACT FORD AND GET ANY ANSWERS. IN THE MEANTIME, THIS IS OUR ONLY AUTO AND WE CANNOT AFFORD A RENTAL. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IT NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED NOW> IT APPEARS THAT THE LOCAL DEALER DOES NOT HAVE CONTROL OF THIS MATTER. IT IS FORD THAT IS NOT COMPLETING THE REPAIR. IT IS NOW TIME FOR THE GOV. TO GET INVOLVED IN THIS AND RESOLVE THIS RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE. PLEASE!!

TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2016. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MY DEALER SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT WHEN MY AIR BAG REPLACEMENT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF. THEY HAD NO ANSWER EXCEPT TO SAY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT FROM OR IN A REGION THAT EXPERIENCES EXCESSIVE HOT TEMPERATURES. THEREFORE, MY VEHICLE IS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE A VITAL CONCERN. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AND SHIPPED TO ARIZONA WHERE IT SPENT 4 YEARS UNTIL I BOUGHT IT IN 2012 AND BROUGHT IT TO MICHIGAN. ARIZONA'S TEMPERATURES ARE EXCESSIVELY HOT. SO, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T BE AT THE TOP OF THE REPAIR LIST. IF I WANTED TO SELL IT NO ONE WILL BUY IT UNLESS THE AIR BAG HAS BEEN REPLACED.

TAKATA RECALL - I CONTINUE TO GET THE RUN AROUND FROM MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT WHAT STEPS FORD IS TAKING TO ADDRESS THIS RECALL. DESPITE NOTICE OF THE RECALL IN JULY 2016, FORD CLAIMS IT HAS NO IDEA WHEN ANY REMEDY OR REPLACEMENT PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE DESPITE THE DOCUMENTED RISK TO HEALTH AND SAFETY THIS PROBLEM POSES. NOR CAN FORD OFFER ANY ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS. IF THE RECALL OF THESE DANGEROUS PARTS CANNOT BE COMPLETED FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO COMPENSATE OWNERS AND FIND A WAY TO PROVIDE THEM WITH SAFE VEHICLES. THE LACK OF A FIX TO THIS PROBLEM 1.5 YEARS (OR MORE) AFTER IT BEING PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
