ON OCCASION, WHEN BREAKING AT SLOW SPEEDS (LIKE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE) WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDDLE, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE AND LURCH FORWARD. MY FOOT WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE EVERY FEW WEEKS.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT, ON. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT A LOT OF FORD VEHICLES HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON. APPARENTLY I NEED TO REPLACE THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH.
THE DRIVE SIDE DOOR KEEPS SAYING AJAR NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU CLOSE IT. THIS CAUSES A VARIETY OF ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS A SENSOR PROBLEM. THE CAR WILL DING THINKING THAT KEYS ARE NOT IN THE IGNITION AND AT TIMES HAVE CAUSED THE DOOR NOT CLOSE. THIS ALSO CAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND IN PARK.
DRIVER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR STATING IT IS AJAR. WAITING FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE TO BREAK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP.
DOOR AJAR LIGHTS REMAINS ON. DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT OPENED, ALARM SOUNDS MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY.
FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE BEEN HAVING A DOOR AJAR ISSUE WITH MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR EVEN THOUGH MY DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON RUNNING MY BATTERY DOWN. DO THEY HAVE A RECALL REGARDING THIS ISSUE AS I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT ALREADY HAS FUEL PROBLEMS .
THE REAR DOOR SENSOR HAS FAILED CAUSING THE CAR TO THINK THAT THE REAR DOOR IS NOT CLOSED. THE DRIVER HAS NO WAY OF KNOWING FOR SURE IF THE DOOR IS TRULY OPEN OR CLOSED MAKING IT A SAFETY ISSUE.
MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED WHETHER THE DOOR IS CLOSED HARD OR SOFT, AND COMPLETELY CLOSED. ONCE I REACH SPEEDS OF 10MPH WHILE DRIVING, THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING FEATURE DOES NOT WORK. IF I PUSH THE LOCK BUTTON WHILE DRIVING, THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK. THE WARNING LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED AND MY INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER MY CAR IS TURNED OFF EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHICH IS DEPLETING MY BATTERY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I HAVE 2 YOUNG KIDS BEHIND THESE DOORS I CANNOT LOCK.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the “Driver's Door Ajar” warning light was illuminated even though the door was securely closed and locked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the door latch had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that approximately one year later, the failure reoccurred with the passenger’s side door. The warning light caused the interior light to remain illuminated and the alarm to activate intermittently. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the door latch on the passenger’s side door had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
"DOOR AJAR" WARNING REMAINS ON CONTINUOUSLY, AS WELL AS THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK UNLESS YOU TRY SEVERAL TIMES TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR.
REAR DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON INTERMITTENT. IT WILL NOT DOORS DURING DRIVING. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER CAR IS TURNED OFF AND DRAINS BATTERY.
THE PASSENGER DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT WORK AND IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED TWICE. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I AM AFRAID WHEN DRIVING MY CAR.
THE DOOR AGAR WARNING AND DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AND I AM NOT SURE THE DOOR IS SHUT. THE WARNING INDICATOR AND DOME LIGHT STAY ON MAKING IT DIFFICULT AT NIGHT TO DRIVE SAFELY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHETHER THE DOOR WAS CLOSED HARD OR SOFTLY. WHILE TRAVELING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING FEATURE FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DEPLETE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
PASSANGER DOOR LATCH FAILS, DOOR COMES OPEN. INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF AND LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE OF FAILING DOOR LATCH
"DOOR AJAR" SENSOR ON DRIVER'S DOOR NOT SENSING WHEN DOOR IS SHUT CAUSING DOORS NOT TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN IN MOTION AT ANY SPEED AND CAUSING BATTERY DRAINAGE AS LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF AFTER BEING LOCKED WHEN PARKED, WHICH ALSO EXPOSES CONTENTS OF VEHICLE FOR POTENTIAL THEFT.
SATURDAY JUNE 4, I WAS DRIVING ALONG CITY STREET AT 50KPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, THE WRENCH AND "AWD OFF" ILLUMINATED. IT WAS STILL RUNNING, LIMPING ALONG AT 5KPH MAX. PUT ON FLASHERS AND PULLED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND TRIED REV'ING THE ENGINE, NO RESPONSE, BUT ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. GOOGLED THE PROBLEM, WHICH SUGGESTED TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON. LOOKS LIKE EVERYTHING RESET AND VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. SEVERAL HOURS LATER, I WAS ON MAJOR (4 LANE) CITY STREET, TRAVELLING AT 80KPH, WHEN SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. PUT ON FLASHERS AND COASTED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED VEHICLE OF/ON, AND CONTINUED TO HOME. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I SUGGESTING THEY DIG FURTHER AND MAYBE CHECK THE INTERNET.....THROTTLE BODY MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS 80,000 KM AND IS OUT OF EXTENDED WARRANTY BY 6 MONTHS. AFTER 3 DAYS IN THE SHOP, THE DEALER TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED MAYBE THE THROTTLE BODY. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING ON DEALER TO RECEIVE PART. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY ARE PROVIDING A RENTAL, AND ARE EXPEDITING THE PART AS WELL AS OFFERING A REDUCED COST. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE DOCUMENTED.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 60MPH THE CAR DISPLAYS A WRENCH-SHAPED LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND GOES INTO "LIMP HOME MODE," VERY DANGEROUS AS YOUR DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I HAD CARS FLYING PAST ME IN BOTH THE FAST LANE AND SLOW LANES THAT WOULD NOT LET ME OVER TO GET TO THE FAR RIGHT. THIS WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE SCARIEST THINGS I HAD EVER EXPERIENCED! GOING FROM 60 TO LESS THAN 5 MPH IN A BLIP SECOND WITH NO WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT AND EVERYTHING SEEMED OKAY. WENT HOME TO DO RESEARCH AND EVERYTHING POINTED TO THE THROTTLE BODY THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF POSTS FROM FORD EDGE OWNERS WITH THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE FORD WAS FORCED TO RECALL OTHER MODELS BUT FOR SOME REASON THE EDGE WAS NOT INCLUDED, WE CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY WITH THROTTLE BODY CLEANER, HOWEVER IT REALLY DID NOT LOOK VERY BAD. AFTER CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY, I DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR A TEST AND DID NOT GET MORE THAN 5 MILES AND THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED THIS TIME I WAS READY AND ONLY GOING 40, HOWEVER I WAS ON THE BACK ROAD WITH NO WHERE TO PULL OVER. I HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART IT, HOWEVER THAT TIME I PUT THE CODE SCANNER IN BEFORE RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. ONE CODE WAS PICKED UP 'P2111" - THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. I CAN NOT BELIEVE FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THE EDGE'S FOR THIS ISSUE, THERE ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE ALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I CURRENTLY AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT WON'T GO MORE THAN 5 MILES AT A TIME WHEN THE WRENCH SHOWS UP AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE INABILITY TO ACCELERATE. CALLED FORD ON 6/7/2016 TO ORDER A NEW THROTTLE BODY. FORD INDICATED THAT THERE IS A BACKORDER ON THIS PART THEY CURRENTLY HAVE 7000 PEOPLE ON THE WAITING LIST. FIRST EXPECTED TO SHIP 6/30/2016.
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHTS COME ON EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR ALL DOORS. CONSTANTLY CAUSING SURMOUNTABLE STRESS TO DRIVER. IF UNABLE TO GET THE SENSOR TO TURN OFF, THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING, WHICH IS TERRIBLY UNSAFE FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. ALSO, BECAUSE THE DOME LIGHT IS CONNECTED TO THE DOOR, THE LIGHTS STAY ON DRAINING BATTERY. I'VE ALSO HAD THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR WARNING COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WHEN IT WAS PREVIOUSLY NOT ON. THERE ARE ALSO WARNINGS "CHECK FUEL INLET", BUT THERE IS NOTHING TO CHECK. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THE SENSOR HAS A PROBLEM! WHICH THEN IN TURN MAKES THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATE BECAUSE IT THINKS THERE IS A LEAK IN THE FUEL INLET, OR PERHAPS THINKS THAT THE SEAL ISN'T CLOSED BECAUSE FORD DECIDED THE CAP-LESS FUEL INLET WAS A GOOD IDEA. IT'S NOT!
I OWN A 2011 FORD EDGE. ON JUNE 2, 2016, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, WHEN WE NOTICED A SUDDEN PROBLEM WITH THE CAR BRAKING PERFORMANCE; UNEXPECTEDLY, WE STARTED HEARING A HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE PEDAL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP; THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. FORTUNATELY, THE ROAD WAS NOT CONGESTED AT THE TIME, AND WE WERE ABLE TO SLOW DOWN WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. REGARDLESS, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT; IT'S A MIRACLE THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE EXPERIENCED BREAK PROBLEMS WITH OUR FORD EDGE. LAST YEAR, DURING OCTOBER, WE NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM, PARTICULARLY AN EXCESSIVE EFFORT NEEDED TO STOP, ADDITIONAL TO THE HISSING NOISE. BACK THEN, WE TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT PRIVATE MECHANIC TO GET IT FIXED, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, SO WE SPENT A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. I'M CERTAIN THIS IS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING FLAW. A RECALL IS DEFINED AS ANY WIDESPREAD VEHICULAR PROBLEM THAT RESULTS IN A RISK FOR THOSE IN THE CAR. DOING ONLINE RESEARCH, I REALIZED THAT MANY FORD EDGE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME RISKY SITUATION. THROUGH THE FORD WEBSITE ' SPECIFICALLY THE FIELD SERVICE ACTIONS PAGE ' I WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS ELIGIBLE FOR AN 'EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON BRAKE BOOSTER'. QUITE HONESTLY, I WAS HORRIFIED! HOW COME FORD NEVER NOTIFIED ME? WHY DISGUISE THIS SAFETY ISSUE AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL? THIS IS SIMPLY NEGLECTFUL. I SENT FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE A COMPLAINT EMAIL, AND A REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ME TO VAGUELY EXPLAIN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TERMS AND TO APOLOGIZE FOR MY INCONVENIENCE, BUT REFUSED TO RESPOND IN WRITING.
I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ALL THINGS THAT ARE CONTROLLED THROUGH THE TOUCH SCREEN: HEAT, A/C, AUDIO, BLUETOOTH AND SYNC WITH OTHER DEVICES, , ETC. IT'S BLACK. I WAS TOLD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, LET IT SIT FOR FIVE MINUTES, HOOK IT UP AND IT WILL RESTART. NO LUCK. TRIED IT AGAIN AND LET THE BATTERY UNHOOKED OVER NIGHT, STILL NOTHING. IT STARTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND WOULD BE OUT FOR A DAY OR SO BUT WOULD FINALLY COME BACK ON BUT NOT NOW IT HAS BEEN OUT FOR 2 WEEKS AND I'VE TRIED THIS PROCESS OVER AND OVER AND NOTHING. VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING WILL INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAY, EVEN WHILE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. WE HAVE OPENED AND RE-CLOSED THE DOOR WITH EFFORTS TO REMOVE THE ALERT ON THE DASH TO NO AVAIL. WE INFORMED OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHO SAID THEY CAN CORRECT THIS BY REPLACING THE DOOR LATCH INSIDE OF THE DOOR FOR $375, TO WHICH I REPLIED NO. THEY THEN SAID THEY COULD DO IT FOR $325, TO WHICH I DECLINED AGAIN. THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL, NOR IS IT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ASIDE FROM THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH, NO OTHER ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED. I.E. LIGHTS ON, BATTERY DEAD. ...YET.
BRAKE BOOSTER BEGAN FAILING AT 24,XXX MILES. MY WIFE AND OUR 1 YEAR OLD SON WERE PLACED INTO SERIOUS DANGER. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME 'ROCK HARD' AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE THE BRAKES. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THIS UNDER WARRANTY.
WHEN I PLACE THE CAR IN PARK, THE P IN THE DASHBOARD DOES NOT TURN RED AND I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IN THE DASH THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO GET THE GEAR SHIFT TO SHOW THE P IN RED, IT RUNS YOUR BATTERY DOWN. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE; HOWEVER, THE ONLY ONES COVERED TO BE FIXED BY THE DEALER ARE 2012 THRU 2016. WHY WAS THE 2011 FORD EDGE NOT INCLUDED IN THE CORRECTION REQUIRED OF FORD DEALERS? WILL IT BE ADDED TO THE LIST SOON?
MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AND IT EFFECTS THE BATTERY. I HAVE TO KEEP SLAMMING MY DOOR UNTILS IT FINALLY GOES OFF.
PASSENGER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT ALTHOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT COMPLETELY. THIS CAUSES THE DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON WHEN PARKED AND CAUSES OTHER LIGHTS TO BEGIN BLINKING ON AND OFF, ALSO HAS CAUSED CAR ALARM TO GO OFF FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME AND THAN STOP BY ITSELF. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE, AND ALWAYS WHEN STARTING THE CAR AFTER ENGINE OFF AND PARKED.
AT ABOUT 75,000 MILES MY DOOR ADJAR LIGHT FOR MY DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT TURN OFF. IT TURNS OUT THE SENSOR OF THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY IS BAD. THIS CAUSES SAFETY HAZARDS BECAUSE MY INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT AND IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE DOORS FROM THE INTERIOR WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I'VE SPOKEN WITH FORD REPRESENTATIVES AND THIS IS A KNOWN, COMMON PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. I THINK A RECALL OF THE FAULTY PRODUCT THAT CAUSES SAFETY HAZARDS WOULD BE APPROPRIATE.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON, ACTS AS IF DRIVERS DOOR ISN'T CLOSED. ALSO PREVENTS US FROM LOCKING VEHICLE UP WHEN WE LEAVE IT. STARTED WITH ONLY DRIVER DOOR. NOW IS REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ALSO. CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY OF FAMILY AND OUR VALUABLES WITH THIS ISSUE THAT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. THE DOORS WON'T LOCK DUE TO THIS. SAFETY HAZARD FOR EVERYONE IN THE VEHICLE
VEHICLE HAS BEGUN TO SHOW DRIVER DOOR AJAR AT ALL TIMES, EVEN WHEN SLAMMED SEVERAL TIMES. THIS CAUSES LIGHTS IN CABIN TO REMAIN ON AND DRAIN BATTERY WHEN PARKED AND EVEN CAUSES HORN TO BEGIN TO BEEP AT ALL TIMES DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT. ALSO CAUSES DOORS TO LOCK OR UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE PARKED AND LEFT UNATTENDED. NOT SECURE FOR CHILDREN TO RIDE IN CAR SINCE LOCKS ARE NOT RELIABLE OR TO LEAVE THE CAR SINCE YOU MAY RETURN AND VEHICLE HAS UNLOCKED. THIS IS VERY MUCH A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BACK UP OR DRIVE WITH THE CABIN LIGHTS ON.
THE 'DOOR AJAR' SIGNAL STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURLY SHUT. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE DOME/INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON. THIS ALSO MAKES IT SO YOU CAN'T FULLY LOCK UP THE CAR. AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME THIS ALSO CAUSES THE ALARM TO GO OFF WHILE THE CAR IS UNATTENDED. ALL OF THESE THINGS COMBINED DRAINS THE BATTERY, LEAVING US STRANDED. WITH A NEWBORN AND A TODDLER THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DOOR WAS CLOSED SECURELY.
CONSTANT DOOR AJAR ON PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. USE TO BE ONE NOW OR IS BOTH. CAUSES SAFETY ISSUES BECAUSE THE REAR PASSENGER CAN'T BE LOCKED AS I HAVE A CHILD T BY AT SITS THERE. LIGHTS GO ON INTERNALLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WHICH CAUSES DIFFICULTY DRIVING AT NIGHT. LIGHTS CONSTANTLY GO ON SND OFF THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND NIGHT CAUSING DRAINED BATTERY, AND CONSTANT JUMPS STARTS.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, AND NOW ALSO THE REAR LEFT DOOR, WHEN THE DOORS ARE CLOSED CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHT TO STAY ON AND MAKING THE DOOR LOCKS INOPERABLE. THE LIGHT STAYING ON CAUSES SEVERAL ISSUES...BATTERY DRAIN AND THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS. THIS HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 90% OF THE TIMES NOW. IT STARTED AROUND 47,000 MILES AND CONTINUES NOW AT 52,000 MILES (WITH THE ADDITION OF THE REAR DOOR DOING IT ALSO AT THIS POINT). THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON MANY WEBSITES WITHOUT A PERMANENT FIX...EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT OF PARTS. NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING IN SOME AREAS DUE TO THE FACT ANYONE COULD JUMP INTO THE CAR NOT TO MENTION THE DOORS COULD BE OPENED BY CHILDREN IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE POWER SUN ROOF OPENED AND FAILED TO CLOSE. THE SUN ROOF REMAINED CONTINUOUSLY IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE SUN ROOF WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I LOOKED AT THE MOULDING AROUND THE WINDOW FROM THE TOP- AND THAT IS THE ONLY PART THAT IS SNAGGING THE WINDOW FROM CLOSING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENTIRE WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED $810 VS. JUST ORDERING THE 2 MOULDINGS ON THE TOP OF THE CAR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY RAMP TOWARDS A STOP LIGHT AND PRESSED THE BRAKES. THE CAR DIDN'T SLOW DOWN. I HAD TO STEP ON THE BRAKES COMPLETELY APPLYING PRESSURE AND THE CAR DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THERE WAS A HISSING NOISE THAT I HEARD FROM BELOW THE INSIDE OF MY CAR NEAR BRAKES. WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED, INTERIOR LAND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WILL TURN ON WITHOUT REASON. THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DRAIN FREQUENTLY. IF DOORS ARE LOCKED WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED, THE CAR ALARM WILL GO OFF FREQUENTLY.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS STAYING ON EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS SHUT. THE INTERIOR AND OUTSIDE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AFTER SHUTTING DOOR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE BATTERY POWER IF NOT DETECTED EARLY. IF IT IS DAYLIGHT THIS MAY BE HARD TO SEE. IT ALSO DOES NOT LET YOU ENGAGE THE ALARM, OR EVEN WORSE THE ALARM WILL GO OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON, ALSO DRAINING THE BATTERY IF NOT DETECTED EARLY. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR A FEW MONTHS, BUT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE DAY ONE. I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING THAT I WAS DOING WRONG UNTIL I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
MY TRCT CNTRL LIGHT HAD COME ON A FEW MONTHS AGO, I HAD NOT GOTTEN IT FIXED YET AND AS I WAS DRIVING HOME THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND MY CAR STOPPED. LUCKILY I WAS NOT HIT BUT I COULD OF BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS IS BECOMING A HUGE PROBLEM!

DOOR AJAR WARNING. THERE'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH MANY FORDS WHERE THERE'S AN ISSUE IN THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY THAT TRIGGERS THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT AND LEAVES THE DOME LIGHTS ON. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF ONE IS TRYING TO RECLOSE THE (ALREADY CLOSED) DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING AND THE DOME LIGHT REMAINING ON AFFECTS NIGHT VISION. THIS HAPPENS AFTER CAR IS STARTED AND REMAINS ALL THE TIME THE CAR IS TURNS ON - IN MOTION OR NOT
CAR HAS STALLED TWO TIMES, ONE TIME WAS WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CAR WAS GOING FULL SPEED 55MPH , HAD NO ISSUES LEADING UP TO IT, I SLOWED DOWN TO RUN AND IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN - NO POWER STEERING, NO ACCELERATION IT WAS DEAD, THE ENGINE WAS OFF BUT THE CAR WAS STILL ON. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS A HORRIBLE TIME FOR IT TO DIE. I WAS ABLE TO, BARELY, MAKE THE TURN WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND PULL OVER. I SHUT THE CAR OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS FINE. THE OTHER TIME IT HAPPENED WAS MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAD JUST STARTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN REVERSE, AGAIN THE CAR ON BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE BUT THAN THINGS GOT WORSE AS FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE CAR ALARM WOULD GO OFF ON ITS OWN AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF DAY AND NIGHT. THE "DOOR AJAR" ALERT AND THE INTERIOR CABIN LIGHTS STAY ON EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS FIRMLY CLOSED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND MOVING. THIS IS A DANGER AT NIGHT AS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE DOORS ALSO DO NOT LOCK DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I WOULD ALSO IMAGINE THE BATTERY WILL WEAR DOWN AS A RESULT OF THE LIGHTS STAYING ON.
THIS IS THE UBIQUITOUS 'DOOR AJAR' ALARM ISSUE THAT FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ALONG WITH ITS ASSOCIATED WARNING CHIME AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL TURN ON RANDOMLY. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR FOR SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET THE LIGHTS OFF SO THE BATTERY WILL NOT RUN DOWN AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING IN ORDER TO GET THIS ALARM TO GO OFF. THERE ARE YOUTUBE VIDEOS WITH THOUSANDS OF HITS ON THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS HUNDREDS OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS; YET FORD WILL NOT VOLUNTARILY RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE.

THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING IF THE DOOR SENSOR IS SAYING THE DOOR IS OPEN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. ALSO, IF THE DOOR OPEN SENSOR IS SAYING THE DOOR IS OPEN ONCE YOU HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE AND SHUT THE DOOR, THE INTERIOR LIGHT WILL STAY ON AND THIS DRAINS YOUR BATTERY.
