NOTICED VEHICLE WAS LEAKING BLACK SUBSTANCE, BROUGHT IT IN AND WAS TOLD VEHICLE'S POWER TRANSFER UNIT WAS FRIED. I WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE IN FORD SUV'S. VEHICLE SHAKES WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND HAS A HARD TIME KEEPING SPEED.
HAVE HAD CAR INTO SHOP 3 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR SPONGY AND HARD TO STOP BRAKES. REPLACE BRAKE BOOSTER TWICE, BLEED LINES, "FIXED" CALIPER. IN READING OTHERS IT APPEARS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT OR SOME OTHER IDENTIFIED PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO FIGURE THIS OUT AND ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT DOESN'T NEED TO BE IGNORED AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF REPORTED PROBLEMS.
TUESDAY NIGHT 1/22/2019, MY DAUGHTER DESCRIBED THAT HER CAR HAD LOST ALL POWER WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN A SMALL MOSTLY DESERTED STREET IN OUR TOWN WHEN SHE BRAKED AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN. SHE HAD AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIME BRAKING AND TURNING THE CAR TO GET OFF OF THE ROADWAY. SO, THAT SAME EVENING, I DECIDED TO SEE IF IT HAPPENED TO ME. IT WAS NOTED THAT SHE HAD JUST OVER A QUARTER TANK OF GAS SO I THOUGHT MAYBE HER GAS GAUGE WAS WRONG SO I FILLED THE CAR. WE DROVE AROUND 6 MILES WHEN IT DID HAPPEN TO ME AS I BRAKED AND ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLES HEADED MY WAY WERE QUITE A BIT DOWN THE STREET, AND I ALLOWED MYSELF AMPLE TIME TO GET ACROSS WERE THIS TO HAPPEN. HOWEVER, THIS WAS AT NIGHT WHEN THAT STREET ISN'T BUSY. WE LIVE OFF OF THIS STREET SO AVOIDING DURING THE DAY ISN'T AN OPTION. DURING THE DAY WHEN TRAFFIC IS BUSY AND CONSTANT, THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO ALLOW THAT MUCH TIME TO GET ACROSS SAFELY. IN THE MONTHS LEADING UP TO THESE POWER FAILURES, THERE WERE AT LEAST THREE INSTANCES WHERE WE WERE IN A DRIVE THRU OR STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT WHERE POWER WOULD BE LOST, BUT NEVER WHEN THE CAR WAS ACTUALLY IN MOTION AS HAPPENED TWICE ON 1/22/2019. I FOUND A FORUM WHERE THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES NOT ONLY TO FORD, BUT TO THE NHTSA AND NOTHING BY WAY OF A RECALL HAS BEEN CALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS THAT SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED PRIOR TO SOMETHING BEING DONE. I'VE READ THAT THE THROTTLE BODY SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE HERE AND THAT FORD HAS DENIED A PROBLEM SAYING THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM WHEN PEOPLE TAKE THESE CARS TO THE DEALERSHIPS. THE EVIDENCE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET WHERE PEOPLE DESCRIBE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THIS CAR WILL ONLY BE DRIVEN AS NEEDED AND ABSOLUTELY IS NOT ALLOWED ONTO THE HIGHWAY. PLEASE HELP RESOLVE THIS KNOWN PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.
WHILE DRIVE 45 MILES PER HOUR RAN OVER A RAISED STEEL COVER IN ROAD WAY THE BUMP CAUSED BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO FLOOR, THIS HAS OCCURRED BEFORE, THE BRAKE COMES BACK EVENTUALLY. IT HAD A BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED BY RECALL 2015. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE THEN. NO ACTION BY FORD.
TRANSMISSION HAS ISSUES SHIFTING AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND THEN SPEEDING BACK UP. IT IS JERKY AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON .SOES IT AT HIGH SPEEDS AND AT SLOWER SPEEDS. WAS RANDOMLY DOING IT BUT DOES IT DAILY NOW.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KRIEGER FORD, INC (1800 MORSE RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43229, (614) 888-3320) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR CONTINUES TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT NUMEROUS TIMES AT THE DEALER, AND THEY'VE ONLY "CLEANED" THE SENSOR, AND LET ME KNOW IT'S NOT A RECALL ITEM. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN IN THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY, AND MAKE IT VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE OR HAVE GOOD VISIBILITY WHEN BACKING UP. NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE BEEN IN A PARKING LOT AT NIGHT, THE INTERIOR LIGHT IS ON (DUE TO THE DOOR AJAR FALSE INDICATOR) AND YOU CAN BARELY SEE OUT THE WINDOWS. I CONTINUE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND REALIZE THERE IS A PEDESTRIAN I JUST COULDN'T SEE DUE TO THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYING ON. I HAVE ALSO HAD CLOSE CALLS WITH PEDESTRIANS ON A SIDEWALK/WALKING BY AS I AM BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT NIGHT. THE LIGHT ALSO CONTINUES TO STAY ON EVEN AFTER I'VE BACKED UP AND HAVE NOW PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND AM MOVING FORWARD (DRIVING). IT SEEMS TO GO OUT AT ABOUT 10-15 MPH. BUT EVEN AT THAT SPEED WITH AN INTERIOR LIGHT ON, AND IT IS NOT SAFE. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET. THERE'S NO WAY FORD CAN CLAIM THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND IN ADDITION TO THIS NHTSA WEBSITE, THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINT SITES AND BLOGS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND LOOKED INTO FURTHER FOR A RECALL. NOT ACCEPTABLE, FORD!!!
THE DRIVER'S DOOR LIGHT AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS SHUT AND KEEPS THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND ON AGAIN OFF AGAIN BASIS FOR YEARS. RECENTLY IT IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME. WHEN WE GET IN AND START THE CAR NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE DOOR IS OPENED AND SHUT THE NOTICE STAYS ON. THIS WILL THEN CONTINUE AS LONG AS THE CAR IS IN REVERSE AND MAKES BACKING UP AT NIGHT VERY HARD AS YOU CAN'T SEE WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. WHEN BACKING FROM THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET YOU CANNOT SEE IF THERE IS TRAFFIC. WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN DRIVE THE DOME LIGHT WILL FINALLY GO OUT AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. IF WE PARK THE CAR AND LOCK IT THE DOME LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR 5 OR MORE MINUTES AS IT REGISTERS AS THE FRONT DOOR BEING AJAR. NEIGHBORS HAVE STOPPED AT OUR HOME TO TELL US WE LEFT OUR INTERIOR LIGHTS ON.
BACKED INTO GARAGE AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED WITH NO WARNING. BROKE SEVERAL 2 X 4'S AND PUSHED THE WALL OUT ONE FOOT. NEW BRIGHTON FORD DEALER HAD DETERMINED ITS A BAD ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU). ITS BEEN TWO MONTHS WITHOUT THE USE OF THE VEHICLE AS FORD CAN NOT GET A NEW HCU ANYWHERE IN THE USA. THEY SAY THE PART HAS NO DATE TO WHEN THEY WILL GET THE PART. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE JUST SAYS THEY HAVE ESCALATED THE PART AVAILABILITY PART AND SAID TO KEEP CHECKING IN WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. SERVICE MANAGER DOES NOT RETURN MESSAGES LEFT ON HIS PHONE. NO ONE AT FORD CAN TELL ME IF OR WHEN THE PART WILL ARRIVE AFTER WE PAID 1/2 DOWN TO ORDER THE PART. THEN THEY SENT US HOME WITH A CAR WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKES AS THEY DID NOT WANT IT THERE INDEFINITELY..
CONTINUOUS FAILURE OF COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM THAT ELIMINATES THE USE OF CRUISE CONTROL. WARNING HAS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED AND SHUT OFF VIA OK IN CONTROLS. THIS OCCURS AT START UP.
Rearview camera screen is blank or scrambled 98% of the time. The backup sensor has also stopped working. This does not allow me to utilize the safety features for parking or reversing. This issue has been found in newer models of my vehicle and those are currently being recalled. There is no warning for the rearview camera screen, but sometimes it does say that the camera is not available. This issue has been ongoing for years.
NOTIFICATION OF DOOR AJAR AFTER ENTERING CAR ON DRIVER SIDE. ALERT HAPPENS 80 % OF THE TIME WHEN ENTERING THE CAR FROM THE DRIVER SIDE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE ROLLED TO A STOP BEFORE STRIKING A POLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOLMAN FORD OF TURNERSVILLE (3461 ROUTE 42 SOUTH, TURNERSVILLE, NJ 08012, (888) 469-6461) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW BRAKE BOARD NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ON NOVEMBER 28, 2018. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,500.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2011 FORD EDGE PRIVATE PARTY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING, STOPPING VERY WELL FOR THE TEST DRIVE. NOW AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE ON THE WAY HOME, IN A LITTLE TOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED SINKING TO THE FLOOR AS I WAS BRAKING. IT SEEMED ODD TO ME SO I HAD THE BRAKES BLEED TO BE SURE THERE WAS NO AIR INF THE LINES. NO IMPROVEMENT, ALSO THE BRAKES STILL FUNCTION AS SHOULD JUST THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE COMPLETELY COMPRESSED ABOUT 1.5 INCHES FROM THE FLOOR TO PROPERLY WORK, BUT THE BRAKES PULL ONE WAY THEN LOCK UP IF COMPRESSED TO QUICKLY. THE BRAKES ONLY ENGAGES 1.5 INCHES FROM FLOOR. ANY RECALLS ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM?
THANKSGIVING TIME (2018) APPLIED BRAKES, (2011 FORD EDGE WITH 105,000 MILES), WENT TO FLOOR BARLEY STOPPING. ALMOST PLOWED INTO CAR IN FRONT OF US. SCARED CRAP OUT OF US. NEVER DID THIS BEFORE!!! HAD CAR TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP. PUT ON NEW MASTER CYLINDER. THREE WEEKS LATER BRAKES GO TO FLOOR AND VERY POOR STOPPING. TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP AND YET A SECOND MASTER CYLINDER INSTALLED. ONE WEEK LATER, POOR STOPPING YET ONCE AGAIN. FEW FEET FROM PLOWING INTO GARAGE WALL. ALL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT A GOOD RATE OF SPEED, ONLY TO FIND OUT NO STOPPING PETAL. HAD TO RAPIDLY PUMP SPONGEY PETAL TO HOPE IT STOPS. AFTER FIXING, WORKED SOMEWHAT NORMALLY, BUT REVERTS BACK TO SPONGEY PETAL AND SCARY SITUATION AS IF IS IT GOING TO STOP. (NOTE, NO ABS PULSATING AT ANY TIME!) ONCE AGAIN BACK TO SHOP. I CONSULT YOUTUBE AND FIND A VIDEO WHERE A FORD EXPEDITION HAD SAME EXACTING PROBLEM AS MINE. DETERMINED TO BE THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. NOT A MASTER CYLINDER. (AND NOT A BRAKE BOOSTER WHERE PETAL IS HARD.)THERE IS A HYDRAULIC VERSION (AVAILABLE THROUGH FORD) AND AN ELECTRONIC VERSION (NO LONGER AVAILABLE ANYWHERE INCLUDING FORD) ABS CONTROL MODULE. SO A EIGHT YEAR OLD CAR WITH 105,000 MILES CANNOT BE REPAIRED AS THE DEMAND ON THIS PART IS APPARENTLY SO GREAT IT HAS EXHAUSTED STOCK AND CANNOT BE REPLACED WITH A NEW PART. IN CLOSING, THE ONLY WAY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE IS TO FIND A JUNKYARD DONOR VEHICLE AND HOPE THAT PARTS WILL NOT FAIL. BUT CHANCES ARE THAT IT TOO, WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL. I BELIEVE THAT THE NTSB NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THIS DANGEROUS SAFETY DEFECT. ABS IS SUPPOSED TO HELP PREVENT ACCIDENTS, NOT CREATE THEM. PLEASE CONSIDER. I HAVE HAD ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, WITH THE LATEST ISSUE BEING THE 5TH OCCURRENCE. I WAS ON A DIRT ROAD AND WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP BEFORE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT, AND MY BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THEY WERE STILL SOFT WHEN I WENT TO PARK. FORD REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER BACK IN 2016, AND IT WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME IN JULY 2018. I HAVE HAD THE INTERMITTENT ISSUE OF BRAKES GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, HAPPENING MOST OFTEN, AFTER I GO OVER A SPEED BUMP. MY CAR IS IN SERVICE AS OF THIS MOMENT, AND LIKE MANY OTHERS, THE MECHANIC CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. FROM ALL I HAVE READ, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ISSUE IS THE FAULTY HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT, BUT OF COURSE, THERE HAS BEEN NOT A PEEP FROM FORD STATING THIS IS AN ISSUE. I DRIVE ALL OF THE TIME FOR MY JOB, AND CANNOT AFFORD TO BE IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. I, LIKE OTHERS, HAVE PUT WAY TOO MUCH TIME AND MONEY INTO REPAIRS, TOWING COSTS AND RENTAL CAR EXPENSES. I AM STRONGLY CONSIDERING CUTTING MY LOSSES AND BUYING A NEW VEHICLE.
BRAKE FAILURE WITH PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT WARRANTY THE REPAIR OF THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) AND COST $1,000 TO REPLACE. WHY HASN'T THE NHTSA DONE SOMETHING?
BRACKE LIGHT, AND ABS LIGHT COMES ON. WE THINK ITS THE CONTROL MODULE AND INTERNAL ELECTRONIC FAILURE. BACK UP CAMERA HAS NOT WORKED IN A VERY LONG TIME. I AM TOLD ITS VERY EXPENSIVE. ANOTHER LADY WHO WAS AT THE SAME MECHANIC HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IM DISTURBED AND NOT HAPPY WITH ECLECTRONIC FAILURE. I DONT THINK ITS NORMAL. CAN YOU DO ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
The interior dome light stays on and door-ajar light for the driver/passenger doors. I have opened and shut the doors gently several times and the light will stay on for at least 50 mins. Sometimes, the light pops on when the car has been sitting in park.
AT APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES 2011 FORD EDGE WAS TAKEN IN TO KEARNY PEARSON FORD (SAN DIEGO) FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND WAS NOTIFIED OF BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL AND THAT BOOSTER WAS REPLACED. AT APPROX. 95,000 MILES WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND BRAKES FAILED AND FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO SWERVE INTO MEDIAN TO AVOID COLLISION. THE PEDAL TOO EASILY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT SLOWING THE VEHICLE. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES THEY FINALLY ENGAGED BUT TOOK ALL MY LEG STRENGTH TO PRESS AND STOP THE VEHICLE. KEARNY PEARSON FORD INSPECTED AND FOUND THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS NOT ACTUALLY REPLACED - SO THEY REPLACED PER THE WELL DOCUMENTED RECALL. ABOUT 1,500 MILES LATER THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE CLIPS HOLDING THE PAD IN PLACE FELL OFF AND KEARNY PEARSON REPLACED. 1,500 MILES AFTER THAT THEY FELL OFF AGAIN TO WHICH KEARNY PEARSON REPLACED AND ATTACHED WITH ADHESIVE. NOW, 2,000 MILES AFTER THAT I HAD ANOTHER SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR INDICATION. WHILE ON THE FREEWAY THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT THE BRAKES PICKING UP. AGAIN NEEDING TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP AND ONLY BARELY SLOWING WHILE PEDAL WAS FULLY COMPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. KEARNY PEARSON HAS SAID THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY HYDRAULIC CONTROL BRAKING UNIT THAT IS SEPARATE FROM THE BOOSTER RECALL AND A $1,300 FIX. I QUESTION WHETHER THE THE BOOSTER WAS THE REAL PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE OR THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT IS THE ACTUAL CULPRIT WITH THE BOOSTER BEING A CHEAPER SCAPEGOAT. MAYBE THEY ARE NOT RELATED BUT THE FAILING TO BRAKE AND THE WHEEZY PEDAL IN BOTH CASES FEELS EERILY SIMILAR. EVEN AFTER THE BOOSTER RECALL REPLACEMENT THE BRAKES JUST HAVEN'T FELT QUITE RIGHT AND EXPERIENCED A LOOSE BRAKE PEDAL. FORD HAS ADVISED THIS IS A STANDARD AND ROUTINE FAILURE NOT SUBJECT TO RECALL.
REAR HATCHBACK DOOR FALLS
I'VE HAD SEVERAL BREAKING ISSUES SINCE BUYING THE CAR EARLIER 2018. I WISH I WOULD HAVE RESEARCHED THE BRAKE ISSUES WITH THE 2011 EDGE I WOULD HAVE CHOSE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. IT WAS VERY SLICK OUT AND MY HUSBAND SLID THROUGH A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. THEY WERE SOFT AND SPONGY AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. WE CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS PAID A MECHANIC TO CHANGE THE MASTER CYLINDER NOT ONCE BUT TWICE BECAUSE WE CONTINUE TO HAVE SOFT BRAKES. HAD A MECHANIC BLEED THE BRAKES SAYING ARE WAS IN THE LINES STILL AN ISSUE. THE BOOSTER HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH THE RECALL AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT A SECOND TIME. NOW THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THE QUOTE IS $1,650. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND I AM NOT ALLOWED DUE TO THE FAULTY BRAKING. WE HAVE RAN OFF THE ROAD TWICE BY PEOPLE STOPPING SUDDENLY AND NOT BEING ABLE TO BREAK.
DRIVE BELT WAS SHREDDED AND GOT IT REPLACED THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO A SHOP WHERE I HAD THE CAR CHECKED AND NOW IT IS THROWING ALL KINDS OF CODES. THE CAR KEEPS STALLING AND HESITATING CONSTANTLY
DRIVING VEHICLE AND BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. FORD DEALER HAD IT FOR 7 DAYS AND SAID THEY COULDN'T MAKE THE CAR BRAKES FAIL. PEDAL WAS GOOD AND COULDN'T DO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I TOOK CAR TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER AND HE SAID HE WOULD FIX IT UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY RECALL. THEY HAD IT FOR 7 DAYS AND TOLD ME THE PARTS ARE ORDERED AND THEY SAID THEY FIXXED IT BRAKE BOOSTER INSTALLED. NO PAPER WORK TO SIGN YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.1 WEEK LATER NO BRAKES AGAIN THEY SAID IT NEEDED A BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, PUT IT ON AND 1 WEEK LATER NO BRAKES. CALLED BACK THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE REP SAYS HE COULDN'T FIND WHERE THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD BEEN REPLACED. HE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE THE CAR AND WHEN WE GOT THERE THEY HAD NO RECORD OF AN APPOINTMENT AND SAID MIKE DOESN'T WORK HERE ANYMORE. STILL CAR HAS NO BRAKES AT PEDAL SOMETIMES YOU CAN PUMP THE PEDAL TO GET SOME BRAKES.BRAKES HAVE BEEN BLED ETC
THE ON SCREEN DOOR AJAR WARNING SHOWS DOOR OPEN WHEN NON EXISTS. THIS KEEPS THE DOME LIGHTS FROM SHUTTING OFF AND CAN INTERFEAR WITH UNLOCKING OR OPENING OTHER DOORS WITH THE REMOTE. SOMETIMES THE DOME LIGHT DOME LIGHT STAYS ON LEAVING MY BATTERY DEAD AND ME STRANDED.
I NEARLY REAR ENDED A SEMI TRUCK AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED DUE TO EXTREMELY WEAK BRAKE PRESSURE. HAD TO SWERVE OFF ROAD AND USE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. FORD ISSUED RECALL 13N02 FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER CLAIMING THAT A SYMPTOM OF A FAILED BOOSTER IS A 'SPONGY' BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALER CONTRADICTS THIS BY SAYING A FAILED BOOSTER WOULD RESULT IN A STIFF PEDAL. I HAD MY VEHICLE INSPECTED AT WRAY FORD IN BOSSIER CITY AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT'S THE MASTER CYLINDER AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AND THAT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT SEEMS THAT FORD MAY HAVE GOTTEN THE ORIGINAL RECALL WRONG OR THEY NEED TO ISSUE A NEW RECALL FOR THE MASTER CYLINDER AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT.
2011 FORD EDGE. THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR SETS OFF THE OPEN DOOR SENSOR EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AND WILL ONLY SHUT OFF IF YOU CLOSE THE DOOR ABOUT 20 TIMES EVERY TIME YOU GET INTO THE CAR.
STALLS AND WON'T ACCELERATE WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. JUST IDLES REAL ROUGH. CAN ONLY COAST TO A STOP. CAN'T STEER. WRENCH COMES ON THE DISPLAY. EVERYTHING I HAVE READ SAID IT IS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY. HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES.
THROTTLE BODY ISSUE - VEHICLE TURNS ON AND IS ABLE TO DRIVE, BUT WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARS ON DASHBOARD AND THE CAR GOES LIMP; UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. THIS HAPPENS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING! ACCORDING TO FORD, IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. COST OF FIX AT LOCAL MECHANIC IS $330 FOR THE PART AND $285+ FOR LABOR.
WITH OUT WARNING THE BRAKES WILL GO OUT AFTER A FEW DAYS THEY WORK AGAIN . NO ONE KNOWS WHY . THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY REASON FORE THIS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED PROMPTLY. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR.
I HAVE RECEIVED FAULTY ERROR MESSAGES ON THE VEHICLE, FOR EXAMPLE THE OTHER DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE LIGHT CAME ON LIKE THE CAR WAS OVERHEATED HOWEVER THERE WAS NO SMOKE COMING FROM THE CAR AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE NEVER MOVED UP. MY PASSENGER CAR DOOR LIGHT SENSOR SAYS THAT THERE IS A DOOR AJAR WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR DRIVING ALONG THE CITY STREET. WHEN I OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND CLOSE IT SOMETIMES THE INSIDE LIGHTS REMAIN ON IN THE VEHICLE.
ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2018, OUR 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND BEGAN DECELERATING ON A FREEWAY WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT 60 MPH. MY HUSBAND HAD TO "COAST" OFF THE FREEWAY AND CAME TO A DEAD STOP WITHOUT ANY WARNING (E.G. NO CHECK ENGINE OR OTHER LIGHTS TURNED ON) IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION, AT WHICH TIME THE ENGINE BEGAN SMOKING. MANY HOURS LATER WE WERE INFORMED BY A SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT OUR CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP, THE THE INTERNAL WATER PUMP HAD FAILED AND FLOODED THE ENGINE WITH COOLANT AND OIL. HE STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WE DID TO CAUSE IT AND NOTHING COULD HAVE PREVENTED IT BECAUSE IT WAS DUE TO A "POOR DESIGN" BY FORD. HE STATED HE HAD SEEN THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND THAT OUR ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED (AT A COST OF ALMOST $9K). INTERNET RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE THIS AND THAT THERE IS A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE CARD IS COMPLETELY DEAD AND CANNOT BE DRIVEN, AND FORD IS REFUSING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN AN ORANGE WRENCH POPPED ON MY SCREEN AND WITH NO WARNING MY CAR STARTED JERKING AND SPUTTERING AND THEN QUIT WORKING AND COMPLETELY DECELERATED LIKE I HAD SWITCHED MY CAR IN NEUTRAL. I PRESSED THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION! I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR OUT OF THE ROADWAY USING SOME OF MY MOMENTUM BUT I WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT ON AN INTERSTATE OR SOMEWHERE ELSE. I WAS TOLD MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACING. I LOOKED INTO THIS ISSUES WITH THE 2011 EDGE AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS A NOTICE PUT OUT ON THIS THROTTLE BODY IN OTHER VEHICLES FOR CAUSING THE SAME PROBLEM AND LEADING TO VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, HOWEVER MINE WASN'T INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY CAR - OIL CHANGES EVERY 5,000 MILES AND SPECIAL MAINTENANCE WHEN NECESSARY AND IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT.
DOOR LACH FOR DIRVER SIDE IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. KEEPS DOOR OPEN. MESSAGE WITH AJAR DOOR OPEN. THIS ISSUE OCCURES WHILE DRIVING AS WELL. THIS IS A HAZARD ISSUE. ALSO, KILLS THE BATTERY AS CAR COULD NOT BE LOCKED.

AFTER BREAKING SOMEWHAT HARD TO AVOID AN INCIDENT THE BREAK PEDAL WAS INCREDIBLY "SPONGY" AND WOULD NEED TO GO TO THE FLOOR TO ENGAGE THE BREAKS. TWO MECHANIC SHOPS, OTHER THAN THE DEALERSHIP, INSPECTED AND DETERMINED THAT THE POWER BOOSTER MAY BE THE ISSUE AN INFORMED US THAT THERE WAS A RECALL 13N02 FOR THIS VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DETERMINED IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER AND NOT THE POWER BOOSTER. THEN THEY CLAIMED IT WAS THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AND THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OVER $1000 LATER THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. AFTER REVIEWING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE HCU IT APPEARS THAT THIS DEVICE IS FAULTY AND IS ACKNOWLEDGED BY FORD HOWEVER THEY HAVE FAILED TO ISSUE AN IMPORTANT RECALL. APPARENTLY THE ALGORITHM FOR A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN MET WITH FAULTY UNITS. THIS FAULTY DEVICE NEEDS TO HAVE A CLASS ACTION ESTABLISHED TO COVER THE FAULTY DEVICES AND FIX THE ISSUE AND NOT TO MENTION THE REIMBURSEMENT TO THE CONSUMER.
I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM JUST SHUT OFF. AND THE PANEL SAID CHECK MANUAL. I WAS DRIVING UP A RAMP IN A PARKING LOT.

DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH SENSOR STAY ON INDICATING DOORS IS OPEN EVEN WHEN IT'S ALREADY CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND DRAINS BATTERY LIFE LEAVING CONSUMERS STRANDED.
THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING IS BEING DISPLAYED AND DESPITE SLAMMING THE DOOR AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. THIS WARNING IS A RED HERRING SINCE THE PROBLEM IS REALLY THE MALFUNCTIONING DOOR LOCK. WHEN THE WARNING IS THERE, I CANNOT LOCK THE DOOR. THE QUOTES TO FIX THIS ARE RANING FROM $350 TO $500. I CANNOT USE THE CAR IF I CANNOT LOCK THAT CAR. I ALSO DO NOT KNOW : 1. IF I HAPPEN TO GET IT LOCKED, WILL IT UNLOCK. IF IT DOESN'T UNLOCK I WILL BE STRANDED. AND 2) IF THE DOOR IS TRULY AJAR BECAUSE THE LOCK IS FALING IN SOME MANNER, RISK OF THE DOOR OPENING UNEXPECTEDLY EXISTS. THEREFORE I HAVE STOPPED DRIVING MY EDGE. AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE IDENTIFIED IN OASIS. BUT AFTER WORKING WITH THE DEALER AND 3 PHONE CALLS INTO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY TELL ME MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MADE IN THE OAKVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT AND IN 2011.

DURING THE COURSE OF OWNERSHIP OF A 2011 FORD EDGE, A SEVER BREAKING ISSUE EMERGED WITH NO WARNING OR ALERTS OF ANY KIND. THE MAIN ISSUE ARISES WHEN A DRIVER DOWN PRESSES THE BRAKE PEDAL DURING DRIVING CONDITIONS ST ANY SPEED. THE DRIVER IS MET WITH A SOFT OR SPONGY BRAKE THAT RETARDS THE BRAKING ACTION WHICH CAN LEAD TO SEVERE INJURY. THE ISSUE AROSE AND WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP WHO CANNOT READILY SOLVE THE ISSUE AND INSTEAD WOULD RECOMMEND THAT THE OWNER LEARN OR ACCCEPT THE ISSUE RATHER THAN RESOLVE IT. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED SEVERAL MAINTENANCE ACTIONS INCLUDING A PRESCRIBED PRESSURE BLEED. AFTERWARDS, IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE SEVERAL PARTS THAT NEVER SOLVED THE ISSUE. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE 2011 FORD EDGE IS NOTORIOUS FOR HAVING WEAK OR SPONGY BRAKES BUT GIVES NO SOLUTION. THIS IS A SEVERE RISK TO THE DRIVER OF A 2011 FORD EDGE AND TO THOSE DRIVING AROUND THE VEHICLE AT THE SAME TIME.
PLASTIC FUEL TANK LEAK FROM STEEL MOUNTING BRACKET REPAIR TO REPLACE FUEL TANK
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN SHE WENT TO STOP SHE PRESSED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND NEARLY COLLIDED WITH A ANOTHER VEHICLE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD AND FOUND THAT IT HAD A FAULTY ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT THAT IS ALLOWING FLUID TO BY PASS THE ABS AND NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED PREVIOUSLY IN 2016 FOR A SIMILAR BRAKE FAILURE ISSUE. (BETWEEN 50 AND 60 THOUSAND MILES) THAT TIME IT WAS A FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER THAT PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM BEING ABLE TO STOP. THAT REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE 13N02 EXTENDED WARRANTY 10 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES. THIS TIME FORD IS NOT STANDING BEHIND A PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE RESULT IN A SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE.
LOST BRAKE PRESSURE WHILE DRIVING AND COULD NOT STOP WITH SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND CAUSE DESPITE NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF THE SAME PREVIOUSLY REPORTED BY OTHERS.
I FIRST NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE AND THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR CAME ON AS WELL AS ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. EVEN THOUGHT THE DOOR LOOKED TO BE SECURELY CLOSED, I OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOOR AGAIN TO BE SURE. THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR AND ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON, WHICH MADE SEEING AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. ADDITIONALLY, I WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS OF THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN AT THE SHOP SAID IT WAS A FAULTY ACTUATOR AND THAT MANY FORD EDGE'S HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM.
SOON AFTER STARTING MY CAR AND PUTTING IT IN REVERSE, THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR CAME ON AS WELL AS ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE PASSENGER DOOR LOOKED SECURELY CLOSED, BUT I TRIED CLOSING IT AGAIN TO BE SURE. THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYED ON AS WELL AS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT. SINCE THEN IT HAS STAYED ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. ADDITIONALLY, I AM NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE CAR DOORS WHEN IT IS IN MOTION BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THE ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE.
