TRANSMISSION STARTED TO HARD SHIFT. TOOK TO DEALER, DEALER DETERMINED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE TRANSMISSION COOLER. ALTHOUGH THIS I HAVE A LOT OF MILES ON MY CAR, IT'S STILL ONLY A 2008 MODEL YEAR. THE LEAK IS ON THE SIDE OF THE COOLER, NOT THE FRONT, FROM A ROCK OR TWIG OR FRONT PUNCTURE - THIS IS A TERRIBLE DESIGN. THEY PUT THE TRANSMISSION COOLER, ENGINE COOLER, AND THE A/C CONDENSER ALL IN ONE UNIT, SO IF ONE GOES BAD, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT. DEALER GAVE ME A COST OF $983 TO REPAIR == $424 FOR THE PART, AND THE REST IN LABOR BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO EXAMINE THE A/C UNIT THE COST IS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER. I CALLED FORD CONSUMER HOTLINE -- THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I DID NOTE TODAY, THAT JUST RECENTLY SOMEONE ELSE HAD THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS REPORTED TO THE NHTSA DATABASE. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THE LACK OF RESPONSE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE REPRESENTATIVE (SUPERVISOR), JUST RAVED ABOUT THE JD POWER QUALITY AND HOW GOOD THEIR PRODUCTS WERE. I DON'T SEE HOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT AN IMPACT OR CRASH OCCURRING. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES FROM THE MODERATE FORCE. THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR DID NOT ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WINDSHIELD, AND STEERING WHEEL WERE DAMAGED. THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 111,000.
SUNDAY NOTICED RED FLUID LEAKING ONTO DRIVEWAY, MONDAY BROUGHT VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. UPON INSPECTION, DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE TRANSMISSION COOLER. *TR
2008 FORD HYBRID ESCAPE PREVIOUSLY HAD A MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TONE RING AS A RESULT OF BRAKE FAILURE. YESTERDAY THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN THIS TIME THE ABS SYSTEM WAS FOUND TO BE FAULTY. THE MECHANIC AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE, BUT A COMPLETE PART FAILURE THAT INVOLVED THE ABS SYSTEM. THE PART IS SUPPOSED TO BE REPLACED, BUT I WILL HAVE IT RETAINED. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS ONLY AND HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS THE 3RD ISSUE OF BRAKE FAILURE IN THIS VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO MAKE FIXES TO NO AVAIL. *TR CONSUMER STATED HE MADE A COMPLAINT PROBABLY 7 YEARS AGO. JUNE 2008 I PURCHASED A USED 2008 FORD ESCAPE. THE TIRES ARE THE SAME CONTINENTAL TIRES THAT WERE ON THERE WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE INSIDES OF ALL 4 TIRES ARE WEARING FASTER THAN THE REST OF THE TREAD. SOUNDS LIKE I HAVE "MUD" TIRES/AGGRESSIVE TREAD. WHEN THE NOISE FIRST STARTED NOV.2008 I THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LIKE A WHEEL BEARING, BUT THOSE CHECKED OUT FINE. IT WASN'T UNTIL JULY 2009 THAT I FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE TIRES MAKING NOISE. I AM GUESSING IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES AS NO MECHANICAL PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND. *TR
THE TIRE (FRONT DRIVER SIDE) ON MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID (WHICH I PURCHASED IN JUNE 2007) KEEPS LOSING AIR PRESSURE AND I GET A WARNING LIGHT ON MY DASH ABOUT EVERY TWO TO THREE WEEKS. I RECENTLY READ ABOUT THE VALVE STEM RECALL BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD. I AM GETTING VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AS WELL AS THE BIGGER ISSUE OF USING SUB-STANDARD PARTS IN AMERICAN CARS. I CONTACTED MY FORD DEALER TODAY AND THEY ASKED ME TO GIVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER. AFTER I GAVE THEM MY VIN THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I BELIEVE I AM BEING SNUBBED HERE AND THAT FORD SHOULD REPLACE ALL FOUR VALVE STEMS AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. *TR

SATURDAY NIGHT OCTOBER 11TH. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A SHOPPING CENTER VERY CLOSE TO MY HOME AND UPON COMING OUT OF THE STORE THE ACCELERATOR (OR PEDAL) FELL TO THE FLOOR. AAA WAS CALLED AND THEY WERE ABLE TO TEMPORARY REPAIR TO THE PEDAL, WE DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO OUR HOME AND WE DID NOT USE THE VEHICLE UNTIL WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AND AFTER ANALYZE IT, IT WAS FOUND THAT IT WAS A "DEFECTIVE CABLE ASSEMBLY" AND A PART HAD TO BE ORDERED AND IS AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WILL BE REPAIR TOMORROW. THIS IS SEVERE AND SAFETY SITUATION IF WE WERE ON THE ROAD AT THE MOMENT THAT HAPPENED IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A DEAD OR VERY SERIOUS INJURIES TO US AND OTHERS. *TR
FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE LOST PRESSURE, FROM 44LBS TO 23LBS, I DO NOT KNOW THE TIME DURATION. WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD ALERTED ME. CORRECTED TIRE PRESSURE AND IT IS 6 POUNDS LOW AGAIN 7 DAYS LATER. FORD DEALER SAID THEY WILL NOT REPLACE ALL STEMS ONLY THE ONE THAT IS LEAKING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE. AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40 MPH AND BEGAN VIBRATING UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL ONCE THE VEHICLE REACHED 60 MPH AND THE VIBRATING CEASED. APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES LATER, HE WAS ABLE TO FIND A FORD DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A DEALER NEAR THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,100 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,800.
ON MONDAY, 15 SEP 2008, ON MY WAY TO WORK (ABOUT 7AM) MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL NO MATTER HOW MUCH I TRIED. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND SHUT IT OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. ON TUESDAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. I CALLED THE DEALER FIRST THING WEDNESDAY MORNING TO SCHEDULE THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN ON THURSDAY. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON WEDNESDAY, I WAS GOING TO DROP IT OFF AT THE DEALER SO THEY COULD START RIGHT AWAY. AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AGAIN AND THIS TIME I COULD NOT STOP BEFORE DRIVING OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A ROCK WALL. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, BUT I STILL HIT MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. THE DEALER SAID HE HAS NEVER HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING. I WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
ALL THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN FIXED BY CAPITOL CITY FORD INDIANAPOLIS AND MACE FORD TERRE HAUTE, IN. I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE THRUST AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. CURRENTLY MY CAR WILL NOT START. OTHER MECHANICS SAID IT WAS THE STARTER, ITS NOT THE STARTER ITS ELECTRICAL SENSORS. THE VEHICLE SPEEDS UP SOMETIMES WHEN THE CAR IS NOT BEING EXCELERATED. SUSPENSION, HEATER SPEED CONTROL STOP WORKING WHEN THEY WORKED ON THE ELECTRICAL AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. THERE IS MORE. I DON'T HAVE MY DOCUMENTATION, BUT I WILL SUBMIT IT LATER. THE CAR IS AT THE SHOP - BEING LOOKED AND WORKED ON - ITS STILL NOT STARTING - SO WE DON'T HAVE TRANSPORTATION!! I CANT AFFORD ANOTHER HIT FROM FORD WHEN THEY ARE NOT EVEN FIXING THE PROBLEM.
SPECIAL ORDERED A 2008 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED. KEPT HEARING SLIGHT NOISE SOUNDED LIKE WHEEL BEARINGS TO ME. ROTATED TIRES AT 7500 MILES AS PER MY OWNERS MANUAL .TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AT 10,839 MILES. THEY SAID THEY HAD NOT ROTATED MY TIRES SO NO SERVICE. NOISE SO LOUD NOW CANNOT HEAR RADIO. CUPPING ON INSIDE OF ALL TIRES. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID I CANNOT ROTATE MY OWN TIRES AND KEEP MY WARRANTY. SO MY WARRANTY CLAIM IS DENIED. *TR
CONSUMER STATES THAT HIS 2008 FORD ESCAPE HAS SEVERAL PROBLEMS. EFFORTS HAS BEEN MADE TO FIX THE VEHICLE, BUT NEW PROBLEMS DEVELOP AND ONGOING PROBLEMS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *NJ
PURCHASED MY CAR IN AUGUST 2008, NOTICE IN OCT, 2008 GAS PEDAL KEPT STICKING. LITTLE HARD TO ACCELERATE, UNLESS YOU PRESS DOWN HARD. MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY, SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE REPLACED/ FIXED. THEN IN OCT 2013 MY GAS PEDAL BROKE, WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR (WITHOUT ACCELERATION) TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. NOW IN FEB 2015, MY GAS PEDAL IS STICKING AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE FIX. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY ISSUES WITH THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT RELATED. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A BUSY ROAD AT ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR AND COLLIDED INTO A VEHICLE THAT PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AREA (THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT) IMPACTED WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR OF A 2002 MERCEDES BENZ. THE MERCEDES' AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON THE SIDE OF THE IMPACT. NONE OF THE 6 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN MY BRAND NEW 2008 ESCAPE. FORTUNATELY NONE OF MY PASSENGERS (WIFE, 4 YR OLD DAUGHTER, 11 MO OLD SON) WERE INJURED. IF THIS ACCIDENT HAD OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTATE OR HAD WE BEEN TRAVELING FASTER, DUE TO THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING, BODILY INJURY AND OR DEATH COULD HAVE OCCURRED TO THE OCCUPANTS OF MY VEHICLE. THERE WERE DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE IN EXCESS OF $8500 AT THE INITIAL ESTIMATE. I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY TRUCK TO BE FIXED. I WILL ATTEMPT TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO WORK OUT A REMEDY IF POSSIBLE. THIS IS AN APPARENT DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP. IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE ON HOW I SHOULD APPROACH THIS WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND OR FORD MC, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. *TR
RECENTLY BOUGHT A DEALER CERTIFIED USED 2008 FORD ESCAPE WITH 21,800 MILES. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED EXTREMELY ANNOYING NOISE COMING FROM REAR TIRES AT HIGHER SPEEDS. TOOK INTO DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT IT IS FROM EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE INSIDE OF REAR TIRE(S), THOUGH AT FIRST GLANCE THE TIRES APPEAR TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE WITH QUITE A BIT OF "GOOD TREAD" LEFT ON THEM. THEY SAID THAT THERE COULD BE A FEW FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS. THERE WAS NOT MUCH THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WARRANTY THE TIRES. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I NOTE THAT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ABOUT EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE CONTINENTAL TIRES ON THE 2008 FORD ESCAPE. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS WHY FORD HAS SWITCHED TO ANOTHER TIRE (MICHELIN I BELIEVE) FOR THEIR 2009 TIRES. THEY ADVISE THE SWITCH WAS FOR BETTER "FUEL ECONOMY" BUT I SUSPECT THEY ARE GETTING MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT EXCESSIVE INSIDE WEAR ON THE CONTINENTAL TIRES. IT IS A SHAME THAT FORD DOES NOT COME OUT AND ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM WITH CONSUMERS. IN ANY EVENT, I CONVINCED MY DEALER TO PAY FOR TWO NEW TIRES AND I WILL PAY FOR TWO NEW TIRES. I SIMPLY COULD NOT LIVE WITH THE NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT LOW SPEEDS, THE PARKING SENSORS FAILED. THE ALARM DID NOT SOUND LOUD ENOUGH TO ALERT THE DRIVER. THE BACKUP SENSOR FAILURE OCCURS CONTINUOUSLY WHEN DRIVING IN REVERSE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SPEAKERS WERE LOCATED IN THE INTERIOR REAR OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH MAY CAUSE THE ALARM NOT TO SOUND AS LOUDLY. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SPEAKERS COULD BE RELOCATED TO THE INTERIOR FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,200. UPDATED 11-19-08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT LOW SPEEDS, THE BACK-UP SENSOR ALARM DID NOT SOUND. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF OBSTACLES IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE LOW SOUND OF THE ALARM. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BACK-UP SENSOR SPEAKERS WERE INSTALLED AND DESIGNED BY THE MANUFACTURER, LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SPEAKERS COULD BE REPOSITIONED TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,200.
MY VEHICLE WOULD CUT OFF WHEN I STOPPED FOR RED LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES THEY SAID THE AC CONDENSER WAS BAD. IT WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. IN 2009 AT APPROXIMATELY 25000 MILES. I BEGAN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID THAT I WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY AND IT WOULD COST $800 TO REPLACE THE AC CONDENSER AGAIN. I PURCHASED AN AC CONDENSER FROM THE INTERNET AND HAD SOMEONE OUTSIDE THE DEALER REPLACE. NOW FEBRUARY 2014, I NOTICED A PUDDLE UNDER MY VEHICLE AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT ONCE AGAIN MY AC CONDENSER NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. ONCE AGAIN I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THIS ITEM. I CURRENTLY HAVE 150000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL YEARS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS A RETAINER CLIP THAT COULD REMEDY THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,152 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000. UPDATED 07/06/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE RETURNED TO HIS VEHICLE, HE DISCOVERED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS LOOSE AND ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE THAT INDICATED THE ACCELERATOR WAS CONNECTED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR CABLE.
2008 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER STATES BRAKE FAILURE AND PROBLEMS WITH OTHER VEHICLES THAT ARE SIMILAR. *TGW
I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE. I HAVE READ ONLINE OF MANY COMPLAINTS AS WELL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE A REALLY LOUD SOUND LIKE I AM DRIVING AN AIRPLANE AND IT IS COMING FROM THE TIRES. I HAVE ROTATED, ALIGNED, AND BALANCED MY TIRES AND THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. THE TIRES HAVE ALSO STARTED TO CUP. I WAS TOLD BY BRAKE CHECK THAT I HAD BAD SHOCKS, BUT I DID A FEW TESTS TO BE SURE OF THAT. IT IS NOT THE SHOCKS. THERE IS SOMETHING WITH THE VEHICLE. IT WORRIES ME THAT IT MAY BE THE VEHICLE ITSELF AND MY FAMILY AND I MAY BE IN DANGER. I AM CHANGING OUT THE TIRES WITH NEW ONES. BUT I REMEMBER THE EXPLORER CASE AND HOW IT WAS BLAMED ON THE TIRES, BUT WHY IS IT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES AND TIRES. THERE ARE MANY FORD VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM AND CHANGING OUT THE TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND DOES NOT HELP. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE MORE ARE KILLED BECAUSE OF FORD'S NEGLECT AND POORLY DESIGN OF THEIR VEHICLES. I HAD AN OLD CHEVROLET CAVALIER AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, BUT FIVE MINUTES LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY MOVED TWO METERS. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED SIX TIMES BEFORE HE WAS ABLE TO FIND A MECHANIC A MILE AWAY. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE KNOWS AT LEAST 20 PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE, AND ARE EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,148.
FIRST OF ALL, I CANNOT SAY WITH ANY CERTAINTY WEATHER THE ISSUE IS WITH THE AUTOMOBILE OR THE FACTORY ORIGINAL TIRES. ON LEAVING THE LOT A HIGH VIBRATION CAME THRU THE GAS PEDAL AT 1500 RPM'S. I RETURNED BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO LET IT BREAK IN. AFTER 1 MONTH IT DID NOT GO AWAY AND BROUGHT IT IN TO SERVICE. 1ST ATTEMPT THEY DID NOTHING AND WAS TOLD TO GIVE THEM 2 WEEKS. 2ND ATTEMPT WAS THEN DONE AND THEY RE TIED THE GAS CABLE AND THE PROBLEM DIDN'T GO AWAY. THE GAVE UP AND TOLD ME TO CALL FORD. WITH FORD ON THE 3RD ATTEMPT REPLACED THE SHAFT AND MADE IT WORSE. NOW IT VIBRATE AND HAS A LINGERING BUZZING SENSATION TILL 2000 RPMS. THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE AND ARE CLAIMING IT IS NORMAL, WHICH NO OTHER VEHICLE EXCEPT THE FORD ESCAPE HAS WITH THE V6 ENGINE, THE V4 DOESN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN DOCUMENT ON FORUMS WITH THE 2006 ESCAPE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. FORD IS ALSO REFUSING TO FOLLOW THE LEMON LAW BY REFUNDING MY MONEY SINCE THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND ARE NOT EVEN OFFERING AN EXCHANGE AS PER LAW.

THERE I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. ON AUGUST 13, 2008, I EXITED FROM THE EXPRESSWAY, PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE THROTTLE CABLE SNAPPED AGAIN. I WAS UNABLE TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AGAIN, I WAS TOLD WE DO NOT KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENED. I NEW CABLE WAS INSTALLED. ON MARCH 3, 2009, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE THROTTLE CABLE SNAPPED AGAIN. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,961 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,045.

THEY ALSO CHECK UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE FOR ANY PART BEING BENT AND ALSO CHECK THE FRAME TO SEE IF THAT MAY BE BENT. EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK. DEALER BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE TIRE / ALIGNMENT SHOP AND HAD THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED OUT BY AN EXPERT AND HE MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO BRING IT IN A TIGHTER TO THE SPECIFICATIONS. IN LATE JANUARY 2008 I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I ACCELERATED THE CAR CREPT ALONG FOR SEVERAL FEET BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION "SLAMMED" INTO GEAR AND THEN THE CAR MOVED NORMALLY. IT FINALLY STARTED MOVING SLOWLY AND AFTER A FEW FEET THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY KICKED INTO THE RIGHT GEAR AND MOVED NORMALLY. I WAS LUCKY THAT NO ONE SLAMMED INTO THE BACK OF MY CAR. I TRIED TO FIND A PHONE NUMBER FOR FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT APPARENTLY THEY NO LONGER TAKE PHONE CALLS. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A 2011 ESCAPE AND SHE SAID SHE HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET BLOGS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.

THERE WAS DAMAGE TO HIS VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE WASN'T ANY DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR HOME. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS DAMAGED AND DESTROYED. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE OR INJURIES. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS PRESENT BEFORE OR AFTER THE CRASH OCCURRED. A POLICE REPORT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN 10 DAYS. PHOTOS ARE AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE REPAIR FACILITY.
