AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY GARAGE I HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE AREA BEHIND AND ABOVE THE RIGHT REAR TIRE AND SAW THAT THE SHOCK AND NECESSARY ATTACHMENTS WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY FROM THE FRAME.
'FORD ESCAPE STEERING " CAR WAS PARKED. I PULLED OUT TO END OF DRIVEWAY AND MADE LEFT TURN ONTO A BUSY STREET. SUDDENLY, THE STEERING WHEEL STOPPED HAVING ANY POWER. SINCE I WAS MOVING IT WAS NOT REAL BAD. IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVING SHE PROBABLY COULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. IT WAS AS IF THE ENGINE WAS OFF AND THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. I DROVE A BLOCK AND WAS ASTOUNDED THAT AS I MADE ANOTHER TURN IT WAS SO DIFFICULT. I PARKED AND CHECKED THE CAR OVER. I COULD SEE NOTHING AND I WAS AN ASE CERTIFIED MASTER MECHANIC FOR 30 YEARS (1983-2013). I COULD SEE NOTHING WRONG EXTERNALLY. I WAS LUCKY, SOMEONE MOVING FASTER COULD HAVE DIED. I DROVE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THAT PART BUT ONLY FOR 2008 ESCAPES BUILT IN KANSAS CITY. I THINK IT IS A DISGRACE THAT FORD IS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE RISKING THE LIVES OF CONSUMERS FOR SOMETHING THEY KNOW IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR FAILED AND A NEW STEERING COLUMN WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,540.
I HAD ALL THE BRAKES STUCK WHILE DRIVING. ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LAMP WENT OFF ALONG WITH REGEN BRAKES DISABLED. MECHANIC`S DIAGNOSIS WAS ABS PUMP AND CONTROL MODULE NEED TO BE REPLACED. COST ABOUT 4500$ TOTAL.

THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO EIDE FORD LINCOLN (LOCATED AT 800 E BISMARCK EXPY, BISMARCK, ND 58504, (701) 222-3500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000.
I BOUGHT THIS USED ESCAPE ABOUT 2 YRS AGO, FIRST YR OVER $400 INTO STABILIZER BAR SWAY BARS FRONT END REPAIRS,,OK, SECOND YR, GUESS WHAT? YES TRANSMISSION 3RD GEAR OUT...AFTER DOING REVIEWS ON HERE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. WHEN ONE LIVES ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND YOU LIVE ON $100 A WEEK DOESN'T LEAVE MUCH FOR REPAIRS,, YES I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO SOME MAINTANCE BUT HOLLY COW THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS NOT CHEAP. I HAVE ONLY PUT 9,223 MILES ON THIS SUV SINCE I HAD IT. WITH AS MANY PROBLEMS AS THERE IS WITH THE ESCAPE TRANSMISSION ONE WOULD THINK FORDS WOULD GET IT RIGHT, WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS NOT EVEN A RECALL. EVERY PLACE I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO I'T LIKE HERE COMES A OLE LADY WE'LL TELL HER ANYTHING AND EMPTY HER WALLET, CAN'T BELIEVE ALL THE CRAP I WAS TOLD WITH DIFF $$ MAKING MY HEAD SPIN, WHO DO YOU BELIVE WHEN FORDS LET YOU DOWN AND DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. MY VEHICLE MILEAGE IS 58049 ORIGINAL. I NOTICED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, WITHIN THE LAST 8 MONTHS. I WOULDN'T GET AN ALERT ABOUT THE ODOMETER READING THAT WOULD SAY REGEN BRAKES DISABLED I ALSO NOTICED WHEN I TRY TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BUCKLE WHILE PRESSING IT. AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T SEEM TO NOTICE THAT I'M TRYING TO STOP, IT WOULD EVENTUALLY STOP. IT'S A GOOD THING THAT I'M NOT A TAILGATER CUZ I WOULD HAVE CLOCKED ANY VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW, I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN IT TO FORD FOR ANY IF ANY REPAIRS. I LITERALLY HAVE EVERY RECEIPT, IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY FADED THROUGH THE YEARS. THE HYBRID BATTERY DIED AFTER 7 YEARS OH, PRETTY MUCH ON THE 6TH YEAR I NOTICED IT WASN'T HOLDING A CHARGE LONGER THAN 24 HOURS. I INQUIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 10K TO REPLACE. I STILL HAVE IT ON THE VEHICLE OH, I JUST GET POOR MILEAGE NOW. I AM IN NO FINANCIAL PREDICAMENT TO AFFORD A TRADE IN NEWER MAJOR REPAIRS. I'M JUST DISCOURAGED CONSIDERING WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF A VEHICLE WHICH IS THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS GOING IF NOT ALREADY GONE. I AM DISABLED SO I DO NOT DRIVE OFTEN, THE VEHICLE SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY MORE THAN ITS ON THE ROAD. I'VE NOT TRAVELED A FAR DISTANCES WITH THE VEHICLE, MOSTLY DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS AND PICKING UP MEDICATION AND GROCERY STORE. THAT'S IT, NOW I'VE COME TO A CROSSROADS NOT SURE WHAT TO DO HOW ABOUT THIS CONUNDRUM.

THE EPS WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LOCATED A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE FOR THE STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR. THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THE ABS CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. DICK MASHETER FORD (1090 S HAMILTON RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43227, (614) 861-7150) AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE RECEIVED A SOFTWARE UPDATE IN 2014 FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP15001 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS RELATED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN SUGGESTING THE DEALER REPLACE THE PART. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
RANDOMLY MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED DOING WHAT FEELS SIMILAR TO A JERK MOVEMENT WHILE DRIVING AND STATIONARY. I'VE NOTICED IT OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS CITY STREETS. AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF THAT, ONE DAY I STARTED THE CAR AND HAD A BLINKING 'WRENCH' ICON. SO AFTER LOOKING UP THE DETAILS I WAS ABLE TO FIND THAT THIS NORMALLY HAS TO DO WITH THE TORQUE SENSOR. I ALSO SAW DETAILS REGARDING A RECALL HOWEVER I'M UNSURE IF MY SUV WILL FALL UNDER THIS AS I FEEL IT SHOULD.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN 2018 NOW WE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE FAULT CODE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE FORD DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
LAST WEEK THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE WHEN AT A STOP. YESTERDAY WE GOT AN ERROR CODE SAYING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". THEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT FAILURE FOR OUR YEAR/MAKE/MODEL OF CAR FOR THE FORD PLANT WHERE OURS WAS BUILT (KANSAS CITY) BUT OUR VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR US BUT TO CHARGE US FULL PRICE FOR THE REPAIR.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
THE STEERING IN MY CAR WAS AFFECTED. FIRST SIGNS OF ISSUE WERE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING WHILE STOPPED, PARKED AND DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THEN SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING WENT AND THANKFULLY I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 20MPH. I WAS NOT TURNING AND WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE WHEELS TO TURN OFF INTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ON A CITY STREET IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA.

POWER STEERING FAILURE. SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN NHSTA CAMPAIN# 14V284000. BEGAN WITH A STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION (INTERMITTENT, WORST AT IDLE BUT PERSISTENT) AND EVENTUAL "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT".

MY CAR EXPERIENCED A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS THIS EVENING, CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR. IT WAS VERY ALARMING TO IMMEDIATELY BE LEFT WITHOUT POWER STEERING WHEN DRIVING AND TRYING TO MANEUVER MY WAY HOME SAFELY.

THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE ADDRESSED BY NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 14V284000 / FORD RECALL #14505, HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE'S VIN WAS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL.

STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING A CLUNK NOISE SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING.DRIVING YESTERDAY THE STEERING GOT VERY STIFF.PARKED THE STEERING WOULD BE HARD. THERE WAS A RECALL #14S05 MAY 29 2014.WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY SAID MY CAR IS NOT ON RECALL LIST. SAME PROBLEM EPS -ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST,TORQUE SENSOR IN STEERING COLUMN OR UPDATED SOFTWARE NEEDED.IT'S VERY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL WHEN DRIVING. THE STEEERING STOPS WORKING EXTREAMLY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. I TURN CAR BACK ON AND OFF AND IT WORKS! I WAS IN PARK. PUT INTO DRIVE I COULDN'T MOVE THOUGHT IT STALLED. TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WORKED HAPPENED 2X TONIGHT!!

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. *DT*JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIRACLE FORD (1394 NASHVILLE PIKE, GALLATIN, TN 37066, (615) 442-8845), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 240,000.
THE ERROR MESSAGE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BACK AND FORTH EVEN WHEN IN PARK. THE STEERING HAS BECOME VERY LOOSE AND TAKES A LOT MORE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT NOW DOES NOT SIGNIFICANTLY MOVE THE VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.
INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH STEERING COLUMN STARTED TO SHAKE THEN STEERING FAILED MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN PLACING THE CAR AT RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL WAS PART OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN RECALL 14V284000 AND FORD RECALL #14S05. UNFORTUNATELY THEY DID NOT INCLUDE OUR VIN # IN THE CARS THEY WOULD FIX. SAME PROBLEM AS ALL THE ONES THEY DECIDED TO FIX. SELECTIVE SAFETY ISN'T SAFE. SINCE THIS ISSUE IS THE SAME AS THE OTHERS, WE TOO NEED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COSTS OF MAKING OUR CAR SAFE AGAIN.
I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS STEERING THE VEHICLE. IT FEELS LIKE MANUAL STEERING.
I DID THE STEERING RECALL BUT HOWEVER, AFTER 2-YEAR DRIVING. MY STEERING FAILED WHEN I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY IN 70MILE. IT IS SO HORRIBLE THAT MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR. FORD THEY DIDN'T REALLY CARE ABOUT ESCAPE STEERING ISSUE. I GUESS THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE DEAD IN THE ACCIDENT. PLEASE LOOK THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY. THERE ARE SOME MANY OWER HAVE THE SAME ISSUE EVEN THEY DID THE RECALL.

THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED TAKING THE VEHICLE TO FRIENDLY FORD (2250 SOUTH ROAD, POUGHKEEPSIE, NY 12601) WHERE THE POWER STEERING FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
FORD ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) ISSUE MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY EXPERIENCING ISSUES RELATED TO AN ILL-DESIGNED ETB SINCE 2010 (WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE). IN THE PAST 5 YEARS, THE FREQUENCY OF ISSUE OCCURRENCE HAS PROGRESSIVELY INCREASED. CURRENT RATE OF OCCURRENCE IS 3 - 6 TIMES PER WEEK. RANDOMLY THE VEHICLE GOES INTO "LIMP MODE" WHILE DRIVING, WHERE THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN TO NEARLY ZERO POWER. DASHBOARD DISPLAYS "PULL OVER SAFELY". IF THIS OCCURS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC (WHICH IS MANY TIMES THE CASE ON OUR LOS ANGELES FREEWAYS), THERE IS NO WAY TO PULL OVER SAFELY WITH NEARLY ZERO ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE IS LITERALLY STRANDED IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC UNTIL THE ETB IS RESET. THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION MUST BE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON TO RESET THE ETB. THIS FAULTY ETB PART ACROSS MANY FORD MODELS FOR 10+ YEARS IS PUTTING VEHICLE OWNERS' SAFETY AT HIGH RISK. FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL OF ALL VEHICLES WITH THESE ILL-DESIGNED, FAULTY ETBS. VEHICLE OWNERS SHOULD NOT BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF A PART WHICH IS CLEARLY FAULTY IN ITS DESIGN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GENESEE VALLEY FORD (1675 INTERSTATE DRIVE, AVON, NY 14414, 833-755-3455) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). AFTERWARDS, WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CORTESE FORD (2500 WEST HENRIETTA ROAD, ROCHESTER, NY, 585-277-3280) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING, FORD WON'T COVER IT, $1500.
THE INITIAL PROBLEM I ENCOUNTERED IS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN GEAR THOUGH STOPPED. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND WAS INFORMED OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING A TORQUE ANGLE STEERING SENSOR, WHICH WAS BELIEVED TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. AFTER THAT REPAIR, THE STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER SHAKES UPON BRAKING. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS PRESSURE TO THE RIGHT, BUT NO RESISTANCE TO THE LEFT, AND IS THEREFORE ALWAYS STEERING TO THE LEFT. I DID ALERT THE SHOP TO THE PROBLEM AND THEY MADE CERTAIN IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE ALIGNMENT. THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WHICH THE NEW TORQUE ANGLE STEERING SENSOR IS NOT ABLE TO CALIBRATE AGAINST. THE VEHICLE IS NOW LARGELY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE SECOND ROUND OF REPAIRS ARE DONE. THE SHOP WHERE I HAD THE REPAIRS DONE, BELIEVE FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING ASSEMBLY - THE REASON THEY BELIEVE FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE IS BECAUSE THEY CALLED A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND FOUND THAT THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS THIS ENTIRE ASSEMBLY IN STOCK. THE CHOICE TO KEEP THIS ASSEMBLY IN STOCK, I WAS TOLD, IS INDICATIVE OF ROUTINE NEED TO REPLACE THIS PART.
I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL TO BE FIXED ON 1/2/18 AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP JUST REPROGRAMMED MY TORQUE SENSOR. ON 5/24/18 MY CAR WAS BACK IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR HAVING ABOUT 8" OF PLAY IN MY STEERING WHEEL. THEY SAID THAT WAS NOT DUE TO THE RECALL AND CHARGED $299.19 TO FIX A U JOINT. MY STEERING WHEEL CONSTANTLY SHAKES, INCLUDING WHILE IDLING AND DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, WHILE TURNING, ETC. MY WRENCH LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY. THEY SAY THAT THE STEERING COLUMN IS FAILING. THEY SAY THAT IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BUT DENY THAT IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS THERE WAS NO WAY TO CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF THE VEHICLE. FORD HAD A RECALL ON SOME OF THESE MODELS BUT DID NOT INCLUDE ALL MODELS. THIS PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS THE PROBLEM THAT WAS RECALLED ON THE SAME MODELS BUT LIMITED BY VIN #. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR THREAT TO HUMAN LIFE HAD THE OPERATOR NOT HAD THE STRENGTH TO OVER COME THE LACK OF POWER STEERING. FORD SHOULD HAVE RECALLED ALL VEHICLES IN THIS MODEL KNOWING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ESCAPE/MARINER STEERING SYSTEM.
I JUST BOUGHT A USED 2008 FORD ESCAPE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WITH 113,000 MILES ON IT. A FEW DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT I WENT TO STOP AT A LIGHT FROM A SPEED OF 50MPH AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I LOST ALL BRAKE POWER. I WENT ONTO THE SHOULDER AND ALMOST INTO A DITCH TO PREVENT HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE DASH READ "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" AND "REGEN BRAKES DISABLED". THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN AND I AM BEING TOLD IT IS LIKELY A FAILED HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROL UNIT WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND VERY EXPENSIVE. HOW HAS FORD NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND KNOWN PROBLEM?
LAST WINTER I CAME OUT OF WORK TO GO HOME. WENT TO LEAVE AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING, I HAD TO DRIVE HOME VERY CAREFULLY, TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED THAT. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS THEN LOST POWER STEERING AGAIN. THIS TIME IT IS THE STEERING COLUMN. THE PART IS $1,200 PLUS TA, THIS IS MY MECHANICS COST!! I DONT HAVE MONEY TO REPLACE THIS, I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND HAVE PUT MORE THAN $7,000 IN THIS TRUCK IF I COULD GET RID OF IT I WOULD. I OWE TOO MUCH MONEY ON IT!
