Tire size: P235/70 R16 Since April, 2024 this tire started inflated every week. After 2-3 weeks trial I decided to take it to the tire shop, after they tested it, no error was detected. Then they told me that technically this tire is defected. It costed me $75-90.00 bucks just for the diagnostics. At that point, I did not have a choice but to buy a new tire. The new tire cost me another $140.00+, before down time and a waste of energy. Time is everything in this country. Thank you,
Tire Size: P235/70R16 104T In the first week of April, 2024, the rear passenger side tire was showing low air. I took it to a tire shop close by. They checked it and could not find any defection, except air. They inflated and balanced it. I started driving it hoping everything would be OK. After 3 days the same thing happened. Again, I took it to a different tire shop, and they took their time and thoroughly checked, no nails or air leak at all. At that point and after I told them the history of the tire, they suggested that it is a manufacturer's defect or it is a defected tire. More over, the tire guy advised me to contact the NHTSA or the manufacturer. On top the purchasing price, I spent $60.00 for inspection, the purchasing price was $112.50, from Walmart. In conclusion, I purchased a new tire and replaced it, and costed me to mount it. I did not have a choice, and I kept the bad tire. I had to go through all these, because of the defected tire, or the manufacturer's fault. I cant't live without or I do everything with my car, and I have only 1 car. Car is a big part of my/our daily life in America. You guys can take it from here. That is all. Thank you
WHEEL MECHANICS FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION. NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT WHEEL CONTROL BARS AND RIGHT FRONT STABILIZER BAR. MECHANIC SAID UNSAFE TO DRIVE EVEN A 100 MILES. MECHANIC ALSO SAID THIS RESULTED FROM A DESIGN FLAW OF CERTAIN FORD MODELS THAT AFFECTED THE FORD XLSS OF 2008 AND PERHAPS OTHER LATE 2008 OR 2009 MODELS.

THE CONTACT FOUND OUT ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TIRES. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURES FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH. THE TIRES THAT WERE GOING FLAT WERE BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER TIRES. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE RECENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.

AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE I REQUESTED A TIRE ROTATION AN FOUND OUT THAT ONE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE (FAILURE OF ONE STEEL BAND) AND WAS CAUSING SIGNIFICANT NOISE AND VIBRATION AT 60 MPH AND ABOVE. I OWN A 2008 FORD ESCAPE XLT WITH 29,950 MILES ON THE ORIGINAL CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC SUV TIRES. IN THE PAST 6 WEEKS, I HAVE HAD 2 OF THE TIRES BLOW OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THE TIRES APPEAR TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE 1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 7/26/10, WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW. THE TIRE TECHNICIAN WHO EXAMINED AND REPLACED THE TIRE (WITH A COMPARABLE CONTINENTAL TIRE) SAID THAT THE TIRE FAILED DUE TO BELT/TREAD SEPARATION. THE 2ND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 9/6/10, WHEN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. WE HAVEN'T REPLACED IT YET, BUT THE TIRE TECH SAID IT LOOKED IDENTICAL TO THE 1ST TIRE, AND HAD FAILED DUE TO BELT/ TREAD SEPARATION. I'VE CONTACTED BOTH FORD MOTOR COMP. AND CONTINENTAL TIRES. HE HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES INCLUDING VALVE STEM TO THE COST OF $588. CONTACT STATED HE WILL CONTACT THE FORD MANUFACTURE IN REGARDS TO THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 43,000.

IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY BEFORE A TIRE WENT FLAT. DURING THE TIRE REPAIR, THE VALVE STEM WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. THE STEM WAS CRACKED AND CORRODED. INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE'S OTHER VALVE STEMS SHOWED THEY WERE ALSO DEFECTIVE, AND THE SPARE STEM STARTED TO HISS AND LEAK UPON TOUCHING IT. ALL FIVE OEM VALVE STEMS WERE REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. *TR
THE STOCK TIRES PROVIDED WITH THE 2008 FORD ESCAPE MODELS HAVE DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS. THE CRACKED RUBBER CAN EITHER CAUSE A BLOW OUT OR SLOW LEAK. ON MY ESCAPE, 3 OUT OF 4 VALVE STEMS WERE DEFECTIVE AND SHOWING MULTIPLE CRACKS. THIS IS ON A "COURTESY RECALL?". THE DEALERSHIP I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT. SINCE THE NHTSA HAS NOT PROACTIVELY RECALLED THESE TIRES, KNOWING FULL WELL THERE WERE MILLIONS OF DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS SENT FROM CHINA, THE ONLY WAY I WAS INFORMED THERE WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE WAS BY HAVING ANOTHER MECHANICAL PROBLEM. JUNE 2008 I PURCHASED A USED 2008 FORD ESCAPE. THE TIRES ARE THE SAME CONTINENTAL TIRES THAT WERE ON THERE WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE INSIDES OF ALL 4 TIRES ARE WEARING FASTER THAN THE REST OF THE TREAD.
