WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND CAR STALLED. HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED. PULLED OVER ON SHOULDER, TURNED CAR OFF, AND RESTARTED. IMMEDIATELY TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND FUEL THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE CAUSE. CAN I GET A REFUND, AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM? *TR
BEGAN TO RUN VERY ROUGH. ON JULY 13, 2013, I EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR PROBLEM. MALLOY FORD IN WINCHESTER, VA, CHARGED ME $310 TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I SEE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, I'M DISGUSTED WITH FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
VEHICLE FAILED, AS IT STOPPED AN ALARM LIT UP, SHOWING A WRENCH,DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED A TROTTLE FAILURE. IT HAS HAPPENED (5) TIMES SINCE DEC 04, 2013. LAST TIME, IT FAILED AFTER SEVENTEEN (17) MILES RUN. WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF, THE ALARM LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE VEHICLE RUNS AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SPEED INDEPENDENTLY DECREASED TO 10 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 60 MPH AND EXITED SAFELY. WENT THROUGH TYPICAL STOP-AND-GO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES UNTIL REACHING WORK, IN WHICH THE CAMPUS' SPEED IS SET TO 25 MPH THROUGHOUT. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON WORK CAMPUS A LITTLE UNDER 30 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE CAR STALLED AND THE BATTERY AND OIL WARNING LIGHTS HAD COME ON. STEERING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE PARKING PLACE WAS DIFFICULT AS THE STEERING WHEEL HAD BECOME TIGHT. ONCE SAFELY PARKED, THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND AFTER 5 SECONDS TURNED BACK ON. THE ENGINE STARTED UP NORMALLY. STARTED DRIVING THE VEHICLE CLOSER TO WHERE IT WAS NEEDED TO BE PARKED AND THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN AFTER 1000 FEET AND THE STEERING WENT TIGHT AGAIN. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND AFTER 5 SECONDS ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT BACK ON. THE ENGINE HAD TROUBLE STARTING BUT AFTER AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF TIME TRYING TO TURN OVER, THE ENGINE DID. WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE IN THE APPROPRIATE PARKING AREA. VEHICLE HAS FULL TANK OF GASOLINE, 2000 MILES OVER OIL CHANGE RECOMMENDATION BY DEALER, AND FACTORY BATTERY. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN OFF-ROAD BUT HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO EASY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS SINCE PURCHASED FROM DEALERSHIP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IT WILL REV HIGH AND THEN STALL WHILE IN TRAFFIC. STARTS BACK UP FINE AND THEN IMMEDIATELY STALLS OUT AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A VERY BUSY 5-LANE ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD AND MY CAR HAD ABSOLUTELY NO POWER IN THE ACCELERATOR. IT BEGAN IDLING IRRATIONALLY AND MY CAR WAS SHAKING. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED. IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING, AND THEY GUARANTEED TO ME THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN IF NOT FIXED. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED DUE TO THIS! I WAS LUCKY THAT NO ONE HIT ME- I COULD NOT EVEN GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD- MY VEHICLE JUST HAD NO POWER AT ALL. IF THIS HAPPENS ON A HIGHWAY, THIS COULD BE HORRIFIC! I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND UPSET THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS, AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED WITH THE STEERING MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC GEAR ASSEMBLY HOWEVER THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000. UPDATED 2/26/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE COMPUTER BOARD IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 1850
ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO, WE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE COMPONENT WITHIN IN THE FUEL TAKE THAT SHUTS AFTER YOU PUT GAS IN THE VEHICLE. WE KEPT GETTING AN ERROR NOTICE THAT IT WAS NOT SHUTTING. WE TOOK IT IN TO THE FORD DEALER, WHERE THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED IT. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER, WE THE CODE CAME UP AGAIN. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALER AND THIS TIME, THE NECK OF THE FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS SEEMED TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE FOR SOME TIME, BUT WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, WE'VE BEEN GETTING REALLY BAD GAS MILEAGE. WE MAINTAIN OUR VEHICLE VERY WELL, SO THIS WAS CONCERNING. WE PUT NEW TIRES, DID A COMPLETED TUNE-UP, ETC., BUT THIS DIDN'T HELP. ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO, OUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON & THE CODE SAID THERE WAS A PART THAT NEEDED REPLACING; THE VENT VALVE. WE DID THAT, AND THEN 2 WEEKS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN FOR THE SAME THING. AND THEN, AS WE'RE PUMPING GAS, THE GAS KEEP SHUTTING OFF, AS IF WE ARE TOPPING IT OFF, WHEN IT'S ACTUALLY EMPTY. WE WERE HAVING A HARD TIME JUST FILLING UP OUR TANK. WE FINALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO OUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP (WHOM WE TRUST). THE VENT VALVE THAT WAS REPLACED WAS FULL OF FUEL. THEY ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THE CANISTER. WE ARE HOPING THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. IF NOT, THEY SAID WE'LL NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, WHICH IS CURRENTLY ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. BUT I CHECKED MY VIN# & WAS TOLD MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE ISN'T PART OF THAT RECALL. I LOVE MY LITTLE ESCAPE, BUT WE'VE HAD PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM FOR SOME REASON, FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING & FORD JUST SHRUGS THEIR SHOULDERS AT US NOW. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT AND AS I ACCELERATED TO GO THROUGH WHEN IT TURNED GREEN, THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY DIED - NO WARNING. IT RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY SO I CONTINUED ON MY WAY. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, I HAD JUST TURNED INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD, SO I WAS GOING ABOUT 10-15 MPH AND IT DIED AGAIN. WE TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND SINCE IT WAS NOT DYING FOR THEM, THEY TOLD US THEY COULD NOT PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. WE WENT FOR PROBABLY 9 MONTHS WITHOUT THIS HAPPENING AGAIN, AND THEN ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, WE WERE DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH AND IT JUST RANDOMLY DIED AGAIN. WE TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP THIS TIME AND THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS THE PURGE VALVE. $1500 LATER, THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. TODAY, IT DIED 3 TIMES IN A MATTER OF 5 MINUTES, ALL INSIDE OF A PARKING GARAGE. THIS CAR IS TOO NEW TO BE POURING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS INTO IT - ESPECIALLY IF THIS PROBLEM IS AS COMMON AS IT SEEMS. *TR
AT ABOUT 6:30 PM THIS EVENING, A FRIEND AND I WENT TO THE CAR TO GO TO STORE. WE OPENED THE BACK HATCH AND PUT IN A COUPLE ITEMS WE WERE PLANNING ON RETURNING IN THE BACK. MY FRIEND SHUT THE BACK HATCH AND THE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED VIOLENTLY SENDING GLASS IN ALL DIRECTIONS. BOTH OF US WERE HIT BY FLYING GLASS PIECES. THE GLASS SHATTERED IN SO MANY SMALL PIECES THAT IT WAS THROUGHOUT THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AND COVERED A RADIUS ON HER DRIVEWAY AND LAWN OF ABOUT TEN FEET. THERE IS NO LOGICAL REASON WHY THE GLASS SHOULD HAVE SHATTERED - THERE WAS NO OBSTRUCTION OR ANY NOTICEABLE ISSUE WITH HATCH BEFORE IT HAPPENED. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ARE ESCAPE AND SHE WAS MERGING ON THE FREEWAY. WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ON THE FREEWAY SHE WAS TRAVELING 60 MPH ALMOST TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS SHE WENT TO MERGE IN FRONT OF A TRUCK AND THE ESCAPE STALLED. WE WERE ALMOST HIT BY THE TRUCK BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD LOST ALL POWER. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD THROTTLE BODY. *TR
DRIVING ON FREEWAY, AT ABOUT 65MPH, WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND POWER WAS CUT DRAMATICALLY FROM THE ENGINE. UNABLE TO CONTROL SPEED AND INSTANTLY STARTED STOPPING. HAD TO PULL OVER SHARPLY AND UNSAFELY ON THE SIDE OF AN ON-RAMP NARROWLY HAVING CAR BEHIND US MISS US. TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 20 SECONDS BEFORE RESTARTING THE CAR. IT THEN WORKED OK. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON ONE TRIP OF ABOUT 20 MILES. TOOK TO A DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I HEARD A POP SOUND AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR. IDLE WAS ROUGH, I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT.I LET IT IDLE AND TRIED TO INCREASE RPM. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO PEDAL. THE CAR IDLE ROUGHLY. I SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. IT CRANKED LONGER THAN NORMAL, LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING FUEL. THEN IT RAN FINE. AFTER ABOUT 20 MORE MILES IT REPEATED PROCESS, LEAVING ME TO COAST OFF THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE A WARNING LIGHT (WRENCH) MEANING THROTTLE BODY OR DRIVE TRAIN ON MY DASH DURING THE SHUT DOWN. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN FORD REPAIR SHOPS OVER FOUR TIMES FOR POWERTRAIN REPAIRS, STARTING BEFORE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE LAST ONE FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR UNDER PREVIOUS WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THE FIRST REPAIR DURING WARRANTY PERIOD WAS NEVER FIXED. NOW I AM ENDANGERING MYSELF AND ALL THOSE AROUND ME BY THE NEW PROBLEM. IF THE VEHICLE DOES THIS IN A CENTER LANE A PILE UP COULD OCCUR. *TR

OUR 2010 FORD ESCAPE HAS HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE NHTSA CASE NUMBER PE 13003. OUR VEHICLE HAS 43,000 MILES ON IT AND DRIVING TO WORK ON A FAST MOVING CITY STREET AT APPROX 45-50 MPH AND THE CAR LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL AND WENT INTO THE DESCRIBED "LIMP MODE", NO WARNING OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. WE HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME CONTROLLING THE CAR AND GETTING IT OFF THE ROAD WHILE TRYING TO DODGE TRAFFIC. LIMP MODE DOES NOT DESCRIBE THE AVAILABLE POWER. AT 900 RPM YOU CAN WALK FASTER THAN THE CAR WILL DRIVE... THE TRANSMISSION IS ALSO ACTING AS AN ENGINE BRAKE AND SLOWING THE CAR EVEN FASTER SO I POPPED IT INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED AND THE CAR STARTED FINE. PUT IT IN GEAR AND ACCELERATED TO APPROX 20 MPH AND IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE SMALL WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASH. A GEARBOX OR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM? LUCKILY WE WERE STILL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SO WE AGAIN TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED TO RESET (WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT) AND IT WORKED FINE FOR THE NEXT 14 MILES AS WE WERE GOING TO THE FORD DEALER. JUST AS WE WERE ARRIVING IT DID IT A THIRD TIME, THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEY WERE ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE DTC CODE OF 2112 AND DIAGNOSED A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALL AND CHARGED US $589 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR (PART, LABOR, DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND CALIBRATION OF THE COMPUTER). WE HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNERS OF THIS CAR AND IT HAS HAD ALL OF ITS NORMAL SERVICE DONE. AT 43K MILES IT IS, FOR ALL PURPOSES, STILL A NEW CAR. LUCKY FOR US IT HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND NOT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HOPEFULLY FORD WILL ISSUES A RECALL ON THESE TO REPAIR THEM. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE SOUNDS ROUGH. THE ENGINE WON'T ACCELERATE WHEN THIS OCCURS. A SMALL WRENCH ICON LIGHTS UP ON THE DASHBOARD. I HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, THEN RESTART IT. IT THEN SOUNDS AND DRIVES NORMALLY, UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THIS OCCURS, WHICH CAN BE ONLY DAYS LATER. IT IS LIKELY A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE SEEN MANY MENTIONS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
CLOSED REAR HATCH AND GLASS EXPLOSIVELY SHATTERED INTO THOUSANDS OF SMALL PIECES. *TR
THREE TIMES MY CAR GAS DIED WITH ONLY 28K MILES ON IT. FIRST TIME I START THE CAR PROCEED TO DRIVE UP TO FOVE MPH AND HAVE A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE RPMS DO NOT RAISE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES, BOTH ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHERE I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY THE FIRST TWO TIMES, INCLUDING THE WRENCH LIGHT. THIRD TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. OWNED THE CAR FOR A SMIDGE OVER THREE YEARS AND MY WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING HOME LAST NIGHT (11/19/2013) MY CAR BASICALLY DIED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION. I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE GAS PETAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE RPMS BOUNCED AROUND AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SAFETY. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ENGAGED MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS. I TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND WAITED A MINUTE. AFTER STARTING THE CAR AGAIN, EVERYTHING WAS OK. THE PROBLEM AGAIN HAPPENED NOT 12 HOURS LATER IN THE MORNING (11/20/2013) WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. I HATE TO THINK OF WHAT COULD OF HAPPENED HAD MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN BEEN IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR IS AT THE SHOP CURRENTLY GETTING REPAIRED, HOWEVER, I AM NOT STUCK WITH A PAYMENT THAT IS A KNOW ISSUE AND POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR

TOOK IT TO GARAGE THE COMPUTER READ P2111 - THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL TAC SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN. DESCRIPTION; THIS POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PCM FAULT STATUS INDICATES THE THROTTLE PLATE IS AT A GREATER ANGLE THAN COMMANDED. POSSIBLE CAUSES; BINDING THROTTLE BODY STUCK OPEN, TAC MOTOR CIRCUIT OPEN, TAC MOTOR CIRCUITS ARE CROSS-WIRED, TAC MOTOR HARNESS CIRCUITS ARE SHORTED TOGETHER, DAMAGE PCM. *TR
ON A CITY STREET HEADED OUT OF TOWN IN THE MORNING. STARTED TO PULL OUT FROM A STOP SIGN INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN REALLY ROUGH. STOPPED JUST INTO INTERSECTION. FIRST THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE WATER IN THE GAS. VEHICLE WOULD IDLE VERY ROUGH BETWEEN 500-800 RPM. PUT ISOPROPYL DRY GAS IN THE TANK...NO BETTER AFTER 35 MINUTES. VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE! CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ENDED UP HAVING IT TOWED. DEALER CALLED ON MONDAY TO TELL ME THE THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACED. COST WAS $417.63. MADE A COMMENT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE APPARATUS SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT AT 31,000 MILES (VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY BY DATE). THE GENTLEMAN POLITELY AVOIDED ANY ANSWER. AT NIGHT, WHILE STOPPED ON RED TRAFFIC LIGHT WAITING FOR CHANGE TO GREEN, THE VEHICLE STALLS AN SHUT OFF. DID NOT START RIGHT OVER UNTIL A WHILE. ALL DASHBOARD PANEL LIGHTS WERE ON. AT THE OTHER DAY WE CALL THE TOWING TRUCK AGAIN TO TAKE THE SUV TO THE DEALER SINCE IT WAS IN WARRANTY, WHEN WE START IT BEFORE LEAVING IT WAS WORKING FINE. THE SERVICE TECH AT FORD TELL US THAT PROBABLY IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY SINCE OTHER PEOPLE HAS BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THEY TEST IT AND THEY SAY THAT NOTHING IS WRONG... MY WARRANTY IS ABOUT TO EXPIRE AND I THINK THAT THEY ARE PLAYING US TO TAKE THE UNIT HOME AND WHEN IT HAPPEN AGAIN CHARGE US FOR THE COST OF THE PART... $$$$ VERY EXPENSIVE!!! I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY IN EVENING HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60MPH, WHEN ALL ACCELERATION CUT OFF. CARS BEHIND ME HAD TO HIT THEIR BRAKES JUST NOT TO CRASH INTO ME. SHUT OFF ENGINE, WAITED 1-2 MINS AND RESTARTED ENGINE. CHUCKLED AT THE BEGINNING, BUT THEN RAN NORMALLY, PULLED ONTO HIGHWAY AGAIN AND DROVE HOME. I WAS TO ANXIOUS TO TRY THE CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN. DROVE HOME AND RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON LINE. FOUND THOUSANDS OF PPL DESCRIBING ON DIFFERENT WEB SITES THE EXACT SAME STORY. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING AT A RELATIVELY LOW TRAVELING SPEED THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO LOSE POWER AND I CAN NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THE TOOL LIGHT/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND I CAN COAST TO A STOP. VEHICLE MUST BE PULLED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE KEY MUST BE CYCLED TO RESET THE SYSTEM. BEING AN ACTIVE INVESTIGATION, THERE SHOULD BE KNOWN CASES OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILING ON THESE CARS. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, AND THE DRIVE BY WIRE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ALLOW A THROTTLE BODY TO BE CLEANED. *TR
THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME IT STALLED I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. AFTER I CAME TO A STOP, THE CAR RESTARTED AND AFTER DRIVING 2 MORE MINUTES IT STALLED AGAIN AT 45 MPH. AFTER THE SECOND STALL THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT DONE AND THE REPORT SAID "THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM-STUCK CLOSED" AND "DETECTED THE THROTTLE PLATE IS AT A LOWER ANGLE THAN COMMANDED." I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF DRIVING IT BEGAN TO SHAKE MY FOOT WHEN I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR. PRIOR TO THIS I DID FEEL SOME SLIPPING OR SURGES EVERY SO OFTEN WHEN I WAS ACCELERATING AS IF IT WAS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO FORD IT WAS DECIDED THAT MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS DONE FAST AND WAS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IT WAS TO BE FIXED FOR JUST MY DEDUCTIBLE OF $100. DRIVING HOME DURING RUSH HOUR, ACCELERATION WAS ACTING ODD. FLUTTERING IN A SENSE. I THOUGHT THE COLD WEATHER MAY BE THE CAUSE AND IT WAS JUST WARMING UP. DRIVING NORMAL IT SPUTTERED AND SLOWED DOWN. I WAS DRIVING INTO WORK ON A 5 LANE, HEAVY TRAFFIC ROAD GOING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL OF ITS ENGINE POWER. WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE, I NOTICED THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND DID NOT GO BACK OUT. I PROCEEDED DOWN THE INTERSTATE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES BEFORE THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME THING. THIS TIME I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND WITH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, HAD NO SUCCESS. THE CAR JUST CONTINUED TO LOSE SPEED, SO AGAIN , I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THIS TIME I LET THE VEHICLE PROCEED AS FAR AS IT COULD WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKE. AS THE CAR WAS NEARLY STOPPED, IT STARTED TO SHAKE AS IF IT WERE ABOUT TO SHUT OFF. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND AGAIN, RESTARTED AFTER A SHORT BREAK AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. *TR

ONCE IN A SAFE LOCATION (WORK), I WAS ABLE TO CONNECT A OBD-II READER TO THE CAR AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING: P2112: TAC SYSTEM STUCK CLOSED RUNNING A GOOGLE SEARCH OF THE ABOVE ERROR GAVE MANY MANY ARTICLES POINTING TO A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE WAS PRECEDED BY THE CAR RANDOMLY STALLING OUT (THIS TIME ACTUAL STALLS). THESE HAPPENED AT VERY RANDOM INTERVALS FOR APPROX. 2-3 WEEKS BEFORE THE EXPRESSWAY ISSUE. *TR
