TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V777000 (FUEL SYSTEM; GASOLINE), WHICH INDICATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER, THE CONTACT WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER (CORTESE FORD, 2500 W. HENRIETTA RD, ROCHESTER, NY). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE INSPECTED FIRST. AFTERWARDS, A DECISION WOULD BE MADE AS TO WHETHER THE PARTS WOULD BE ORDERED AND SHIPPED FROM THE MANUFACTURER, EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL NOTICE INDICATED THAT THE DEALER WOULD REPLACE THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE FLANGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST IS DEFECTIVE SO THAT WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL, THE CAR RUMBLES. THE ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A TRUSTED MECHANIC. THE DEFECT COULD RESULT IN REDUCED PRECISION IN STEERING THE CAR. THE STEERING MALFUNCTIONS AT LOW SPEEDS BELOW 40 MPH WHEN I AM TRYING TO PARK MY CAR OR TURN RIGHT ON A ROAD. THE ENTIRE CAR RUMBLES AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, A STRONG FUEL ODOR WAS DETECTED COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD VALENCIA (23920 CREEKSIDE RD, VALENCIA, CA 91355 (661) 382-4700) WHERE A FUEL LEAK WAS DISCOVERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT SHE HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A FUEL LEAK. THE DEALER REPLIED THAT THE LETTER WAS AN ADVANCE NOTICE AND THE RECALL HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
FAULTY EXHAUST SYSTEM, RUSTED LEAKING EXHAUST FUMES, NOT SURE HOW LONG WAS FAULTY BEFORE THE WHOLE SYSTEM BECAME TOTALLY NONFUNCTIONAL. HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY THEY AGREE THIS IS "NOT TYPICAL" OF THEIR PRODUCT BUT STATES NO RECALL.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE OVER A YEAR AGO AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000. RIGHT NOW THE FUEL POMP STOP WORKING AND THE CAR TURNS OFF AND THEN AFTER A WHILE TURNS ON AGAIN. IT WAS ON A LOCAL STREET.

MY ESCAPE HAS FORD RECALL #16S41 ON IT. I BEGAN TO SMELL A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL AROUND MY CAR. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE RECALL ISSUE. EVEN THOUGH THIS RECALL HAS BEEN IN PLACE SINCE NOV/DEC OF 2016 THERE IS STILL NO PART TO REPAIR IT 8 MONTHS LATER. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE IT WITH A PART THAT HAS THE SAME DEFECT/RECALL. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THIS. THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF FIRE DUE TO FUEL LEAK. THIS TIME I COULD SMELL GAS. WILL I NEXT TIME? WHAT IF THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE WHERE FUMES COULD BUILD UP AND SOMETHING SPARKED AND OUR WHOLE HOUSE EXPLODED. I CANNOT CONTINUE TO PUT MYSELF, MY CHILDREN AND FRIENDS AND FAMILY (INCLUDING OTHER CHILDREN) IN MY CAR WHEN I DO NOT FEEL THAT IT IS SAFE AND FORD CANNOT CERTIFY THAT IT IS SAFE. THEY DO NOT HAVE A DATE FOR WHEN THE REPLACEMENT PART WILL BE AVAILABLE AND THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME A RENTAL OR LOANER VEHICLE. THEY ARE REPORTING THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES TO DATE DUE TO THIS RECALL. ARE THEY WAITING FOR THAT TO HAPPEN BEFORE THEY PROTECT CONSUMERS? ARE THERE NOT LIMITS TO THE AMOUNT OF TIME THEY HAVE TO REMEDY AND DANGEROUS SAFETY RECALL? I ALSO FIND IT INTERESTING THAT THIS RECALL WENT INTO EFFECT IN DECEMBER OF 2016 WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH THE EXACT TIME THAT ALL OF THOSE VEHICLES 5 YEAR WARRANTIES WOULD BE EXPIRED. COINCIDENCE?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED ON WET ROAD CONDITIONS, IT HYDROPLANED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE LINK BETWEEN THE GAS PETAL AND ENGINE SOMETIMES STOPS WORKING! UPON PULLING ONTO A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY, THERE WAS NO GAS FEED AND SO I DRIFTED ONTO THE SHOULDER, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT WAS OK AGAIN. UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED AGAIN! THIS I S VERY DANGEROUS AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS FIX! THE CAR HAS ONLY 31,000 MILES ON IT.
I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TURNIG OFF OUR STREET AND DRIVING A SHORT DISTANE UP OUR DRIVEWAY TO PARK OUTSIDE OUR GARAGE WHEN MY VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD INTO THE GARAGE DOING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE CONTENTS AND STRUCTURE. I THEN BACKED THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE TO AVOID FURTHER DAMAGE.SINCE I HAD THE DISTINCT IMPRESSION THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERPOWERINHG THE BRAKES I DECIDED TO TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IT WAS THEN I DETERMINED THAT TONGUE OF THE BOAT TRAILER HAD SEVERED THE FILTER ON THE VEHICLE ENGINE SPURTING THE CONTENTS OF THE OIL SUMP ON THE DRIVEWAY AND THE TRAILER WAS IMPALED IN THE GRILL OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS ALSO OBSERVED THAT THE TRAILER HAD PROPELLED THE HIGH PRESSURE WASHER STORED ALONGSIDE IT WHEN THE TRAILER WAS PULLED FROM THE GARAGE BY THE VEHICLE.07
AFTER A 2.5 HOUR OUT OF TOWN TRIP, ONCE I CAME INTO TOWN AND SLOWED DOWN TO THE SPEED LIMIT, THE STEERING WHEEL GOT VERY HARD AND I HAD A HARD TIME CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD, MANEUVERING THE VEHICLE FOR TURNS OR CHANGING LANES WAS VERY DIFFICULT AND REQUIRE THE USE OF EXCESSIVE FORCE. AFTER REACHING MY DESTINATION I POWERED THE VEHICLE OFF; WHEN I POWERED IT BACK ON EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THERE WERE NO SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS THAT CAME ON TO INDICATE ANY PROBLEM OTHER THAN THE STEERING WHEEL GETTING VERY HARD AT LOW SPEED. I FOUND A RECALL ONLINE FOR 2011 FORD ESCAPES INVOLVING THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING BUT WHEN I PROVIDED MY VIN NUMBER TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATED THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO ME. I FEEL THAT THIS SAFETY RECALL DOES IN FACT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE BUT WAS OVERLOOKED FOR SOME REASON. RECALL NUMBER IS 14S05.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE INDEPENDENTLY REVVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (NORRIS FORD, 901 MERRITT BLVD, BALTIMORE, MD 21222) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
I NOTICED SOME EXTREME FOGGING AND A STRANGE SMELL IN MY CAR. THE CAR HAD JUST TURNED OVER 75,000, AND WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID THE HEATER COIL HAD GONE OUT. SO, HE DICONNECTED THE HEATER COIL. AFTER THAT, THE ENGINE FANS WERE RUNNING LOUDLY. ABOUT 2-3 MONTHS LATER, THE FAN ASSEMBY BROKE-A PIECE OF THE ASSEMBY CAME OFF. ALL THIS OCCURED WHILE DRIVING.

WHILE MAKING A TURN I LOST MY POWER STEERING CAUSING MY TO ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR HEAD ON. I WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE WHEEL TO TURN AND GET OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHEN I RESTARTED IT I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITH POWER STEERING AGAIN.
CAR WOULD SIT IN THE DRIVEWAY AND LIGHTS AND OTHER ACCESSORIES WOULD COME ON. WHILE DRIVING THE RADIO AND OTHER ACCESSORIES WOULD GO OFF. TROUBLE WITH LIFT GATE NOT OPENING AND NOT CLOSING. CAR WOULD NOT START SOMETIMES. BY WIGGLING VARIOUS FUSES AND CURCUIT BREAKERS THE PROBLEM WOULD SUBSIDE FOR A WHILE. I ENDED UP SPENDING OVER $1200.00 TO REPLACE THE FUSE BLOCK AND WIRING HARNESS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM LIVING WITH MY FINGERS CROSSED. I AM A WOMAN LIVING ON AN EXTREAMLY LIMITED INCOME BUT I NEED MY CAR. THESE PROBLEMS WERE EXPERIENCED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, OR ANY OTHER TIME MY CAR WAS IN MOTION.
DRIVING ON STREET AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN. RESTARTED ENGINE AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO MORE THAN 20 MPH. I PULLED OFF OF STREET AND SHUT ENGINE OFF FOR ABOUT A MINUTE. RESTARTED ENGINE AND EVERY THING WORKED FINE EXCEPT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK.
WHEN DRIVING MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED, THE OPEN DOOR WARNING LIGHT, THE TPMS LIGHT, AND THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON. IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS, THE A/C WILL BLOW WARM, THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS WON'T WORK, AND THE LIFT GATE WILL LOCK. IF I HIT THE TOP OF THE DASHBOARD, IT ALL RESETS. I TOOK IT TO THE AUTONATION FORD ON THE GULF FREEWAY IN HOUSTON. THEY SAID TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT A COST OF $1000. I HAVE VIEWED MULTIPLE VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE AND READ MANY POSTS ON THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. IN EVERY CASE, THE VEHICLE OWNER SAID THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACEMENT FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. WHAT WAS FOUND TO BE TRUE IN MANY OF THEM WAS THE DISCOVERY OF COLD SOLDER JOINTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CIRCUIT BOARD. ONCE THIS WAS CORRECTED, THE VEHICLE RAN NORMALLY WITH A FULLY FUNCTIONAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE CONCLUSION TO BE DRAWN HERE IS THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY FORD. AS TO IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE, SEVERAL OF THE POSTS STATED THAT THE ENTIRE CLUSTER FAILED SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS YET BUT FEAR, IF LEFT UNCORRECTED, THAT IT COULD LEAD TO THAT. THE KEY POINT IS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ON HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF FORD VEHICLES INCLUDING NOT ONLY MY ESCAPE, BUT EXPLORERS, EXPEDITIONS, AND F150S. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS GLARING DEFECT.
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON EXIT RAMP FROM HIGHWAY TRAVELING AROUND 45 MPH WHEN ENGINE AND POWER SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO STEER AND STOP THE CAR (POWER STEERING HAD SHUT OFF). RADIO REMAINED ON, BUT DASHBOARD DISPLAY WAS OFF. ONCE CAR WAS STOPPED, CAR RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. SEVERAL SIMILAR REPORTS ABOUT FORD ESCAPES WITH THIS PROBLEM JUST WITHIN THE PAST FEW MONTH. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS NO WARNING LIGHTS AND AT HIGH SPEED. COULD BE RELATED TO ONGOING NHTSA INVESTIGATION (DP15-001) OPEN SINCE 2015 WITH NO RESOLUTION. NO PREVIOUS HISTORY OF PROBLEMS AND CAR WAS SERVICED LESS THAN ONE MONTH AGO.
DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. CAR DIED REPEATEDLY WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED. FORD REFUSES TO REIMBURSE ME FOR TOWING AND I THINK THEY SHOULD DO SO.
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH, MY CAR JUST LOST POWER AND BEGAN COASTING. THE ONLY LIGHTS OR INDICATORS ON THE DASH WAS THE WRENCH SYMBOL. THE CAR WOULD START UP AGAIN AND RUN BUT IT REPEATED THE LOSS OF POWER SEVERAL TIMES...AT ANY SPEED, AT ANY TIME! (25-65MPH) TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY IN FAST TRAFFIC! WENT TO THE FORD DEALER BY ME AND THEY REPAIRED THE THROTTLE CONTROL/POWER TRAIN MODULE AT NO COST TO ME. APPARENTLY A RECALL WAS IN PLACE. THIS WAS A PARTICULAR PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD VEHICLES I FOUND OUT WHILE DOING RESEARCH! THIS WAS IN SEPT/OCT OF 2015 AND TODAY IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN...TWICE IN ONE HOUR. (MAY 22, 2017) MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE V6 IS NOW BACK AT THE SAME DEALER. I AM BEING TOLD THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS AND THE LABOR AND PARTS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE DEALING WITH THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE ONLY 19 MONTHS LATER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS BOOKED SOLID FOR TWO DAYS AND THEY COULD GET ME IN ON THE THIRD DAY. I AM SINGLE AND ON PARTIAL DISABILITY AND CANNOT AFFORD A HUGE BILL FOR THE CAR OR TO MISS WORK. CERTAINLY NOT WITH SOMETHING THAT I DID NOT CAUSE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE! I HAVE ALL OF THE NECESSARY MAINTENANCE DONE ON MY VEHICLE AND TAKE EXCELLENT CARE OF IT. IF NEED BE, THE DEALER HAS ALL OF MY ORIGINAL INFORMATION ON THE WORK AND REPAIRS AND THEY HAVE MY VEHICLE NOW AND I AM HOPING THAT THEY WILL GET TO LOOK AT IT TODAY. I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH AND THE CAR STALLED WITH NOT WARNING. THE "WRENCH LIGHT" OR THROTTLE BODY/POWERTRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. I COASTED TO A PERSON'S DRIVEWAY AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OFF TO. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON. ALL LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND CAR RAN FINE. MECHANICS CAN'T FIND PROBLEM OR ERROR CODE AND I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY NEW VEHICLE.
"TAKATA RECALL" ON MAY 11TH 2019, MY AUNTIE AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT THAT WAS NO FAULT OF MY OWN. A BLACK TOYOTA STOP IN FRONT OF WHEN US, I HIT THE BRAKES ON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND BLOWUP IN MY FACE, KNOCKING OUT ONE OF MY CROWNS AND SHIFT MY TEETH, I WENT TO THE DENTIST OFFICE AFTER LEAVING THE HOSPITAL, THE DOCTOR TOLD ME I SWALLOWED PARTICLES AND MY LEFT SIDE OF MY FACE WOULD NOT STOP HURTING, I ALSO LET THE DENTIST KNOW THE AIRBAG BLOWUP IN MY FACE, HE FOUND MY ROOT CANAL WAS FRAMED IN HALF, IN ORDER TO FIX THE PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 12,000.00 OF MY OWN MONEY TO REPAIR THE TOOTH AND OTHER DAMAGE TEETH THAT WERE SHIFTED OR I WOULD LOOSE THEM IN THE FUTURE, I HAVEN'T SMILED SENSE.I WAS DRIVING NORTH BOUND ON HIGHWAY THEY WERE TRAVELING EAST BOUND AT A FOUR WAY CROSSING INTO A GAS STATION.
THIS 2011 FORD ESCAPE IS MY SON'S CAR. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN 2015. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 69,000 MILES. IN APRIL 2017 MY SON COMPLAINED OF THE CAR SURGING WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. WE DROVE THE CAR THAT NIGHT AND COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THIS ISSUE. A MONTH LATER HE CALLED ME AND STATED THE CAR SURGED AGAIN WHILE STOPPED IN A TURN LANE. HE MADE IT TO A SIDE STREET BUT WITHIN 50 YARDS THE CAR CAME TO A SCREECHING STOP. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. ENDED UP WITH A SEIZED TRANSMISSION. WE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN MAY 2017. WITHIN A WEEK THE CAR IS NOW BECOMING UNRESPONSIVE AND STILL SURGING WHILE STOPPED. HE HAS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR AGAIN. WHEN STOPPED THE CAR ENGINE IS SHUTTING DOWN. TODAY THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WHILE AT A STOP. TODAY I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND CAME ACROSS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE IN FORD ESCAPES INCLUDING THE 2011 MODEL. I FEEL THAT THIS ETB ISSUE WAS THE DIRECT CAUSE OF THE SEIZURE OF THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR. I SPENT $2500 ON A NEW TRANSMISSION AND STILL HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR ACTING THE SAME WAS AS BEFORE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION ON A CAR DRIVEN BY AN 18 YEAR OLD. HE COULD HAVE EASILY SURGED INTO ANOTHER CAR OR PEDESTRIAN. A RECALL WAS THE ONLY SOLUTION THE NHTSA SHOULD HAVE ACCEPTED FROM FORD ON THIS ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED THE $2500 FOR THE NEW TRANSMISSION THAT THIS FAULTY PART HAS CAUSED.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS12279241. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STARTED CAR UP IN DRIVEWAY AND ENGINE REVIVED (RPM'S WENT WAY UP) JUST FOR A FEW SECONDS. DROVE TO DESTINATION PULLED INTO PARKING STALL AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE ENGINE REVIVED UP AGAIN AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP, EVEN WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD OVER THE PARKING BLOCK. THE VEHICLE THEN STOPPED JUST SHORT OF HITTING A TREE.
LOSING POWER AND RPM INTERMITTANTLY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, BUT RESETS AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT OFF - THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, BUT THE VIN IS NOT UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL
THE THROTTLE BODY OF MY FORD ESCAPE 2011 SEEMS TO BE MALFUNCTIONING, SINCE IT HAS A DRIVE BY WIRE SYSTEM, I WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE DEFECTS FORD CARS HAVE BEEN HAVING SURROUNDING ITS THROTTLE FUNCTIONALITY. WHENEVER I AM ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT OR ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR JUMPS FORWARD AND STARTS TO SHAKE, AND THEN SIMPLY DOES NOT ACCELERATE. IT HAPPENS SPORADICALLY, AND AFTER AN INSPECTION FROM A MECHANIC, IT'S SHOWING THAT THE THROTTLE BODY IS MALFUNCTIONING, AND THE CODES SHOWING THAT IT IS SIMULTANEOUSLY OPEN AND CLOSED. IT IS AN ISSUE THAT FORD VEHICLES UP TO 2012 SEEMED TO HAVE BEEN GETTING. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE SINCE 50,000 MILES ON THE CAR OF 2 YEARS AGO, AND IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SPORADICALLY, MAYBE ONCE A MONTH, OR ONCE EVERY 10 MINUTES.
WHILE DRIVING THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, POWER STEERING WENT OUT, THEN ALL POWER TO DASH WENT OUT, PULLED OVER AND COULDN'T ROLL UP THE WINDOWS, NO POWER AT ALL, LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE AND WAS THEN ABLE TO ROLL UP THE WINDOWS.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN, VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND COMES TO A STOP. THE ONLY WAY TO RESTORE POWER IS TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET HIT SEVERAL TIMES. ALTHOUGH IT OCCURRED RARELY AT FIRST, NOW IT IS OFTEN . I SAW THE THROTTLE BODY RECALL ON THIS MODEL AND IT DESCRIBES THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE RECALL IS EXPIRED. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND UNSATISFACTORY. PROGRAM 13B17.
CAR HAS ONLY 22,000 MILES, DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR, AND HEARD A LOUD CLICK SOUND AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT.
WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMULTANEOUS DEPRESSION OF THE VEHICLE BRAKES AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS RESULTING IN THE CAR LURCHING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS UNCONTROLLABLY DEPENDING ON WHETHER TRAVELING FROM STATIONARY IN REVERSE OR GOING FORWARD. MOST RECENTLY, THIS DEFECT HAS RESULTED IN A TOTAL RIGHT -OFF OF OUR VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR REVERSED INTO A BRICK WALL AS WE WERE BACKING UP SLOWLY FROM A COMPLETE STANDSTILL. LUCKILY, NO INJURY WAS SUSTAINED TO PASSENGERS OR OTHER BY STANDERS BUT IT MOST CERTAINLY COULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF A PASSER BY.

I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE, AND MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST ANY ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. WE MANAGED TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER, STOP THE CAR, RESTART IT AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. THIS HAD HAPPENED 1+ YEARS PREVIOUSLY, AND WE DISCOVERED FORD HAD ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE THROTTLE BODY. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FOUND TO BE FAULTY, AND IT WAS REPLACED UNDER THAT WARRANTY. HOWEVER, NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME I PAID TO HAVE THE SAME THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AS IT IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS WILL KEEP HAPPENING, IE. RANDOMLY I WILL NO LONGER HAVE THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED AND POTENTIAL IN HIGH TRAFFIC. ITS TERRIFYING TO LOSE THAT KIND OF CONTROL. THIS VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. CONSOLE DISPLAYS "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". DEALER DIAGNOSED A FAULTY STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR (DTC B2278). DEALER ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE PART NUMBER OF THE FAULTY TORQUE SENSOR IS (CL8Z-3F818-A). THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE THE EXACT SAME AS FORD RECALL 14S05 AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V284000. THIS ESCAPE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS RECALL 14S05 AND THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED WITHIN THE DATES SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER, THE VIN DOES NOT CURRENTLY INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE IN THE RECALL.

A CHECK ON THE INTERNET SEEMS TO INDICATE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL CAR. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM.

I WAS INFORMED 'CHEAP' PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME, AND I WOULD BE REQUIRE THE 'EXPENSIVE' REPLACING OPTION OR WAIT UNTIL THE 'CHEAP' PART ARRIVED. I OPTED TO WAIT, AND THE FORD DEAL HAS SAID IT WOULD BE A FEW MONTHS,AND THEY WOULD CALL ME IT WHEN THEY WERE READY. IT HAS BEEN 9 MONTHS, AND THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.
