The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that coolant was leaking from under the hood of the vehicle onto the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle would overheat occasionally with a message to pull over, stop, turn off the vehicle, and allow the engine to cool down. The contact was informed by the dealer that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V336000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and 13V583000 (Engine) however, the VIN was not included. The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the daughter was driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle would not properly accelerate and experienced jerking before eventually stalling. upon inspection, it was discovered that the coolant had leaked from the vehicle. The contact replaced the coolant temperature sensor and the coolant tank and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the engine water pump. Eventually, the failures reoccurred and the local dealer advised that the coolant lines were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 178,000.
AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK MY CAR IS STALLING OUT! I WILL START THE CAR LET IT SIT A FEW MINUTES, PULL OFF AND IN ABOUT 50 FEET OR LESS RPM GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND JUST SHUTS OFF. HAD IT LOOKED AT MULTIPLE TIMES AND NOTHING! THIS IS VERY SCARY WHILE PULLING ONTO BUSY ROADS AND NOT KNOWING IF THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN OR NOT!
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WILL JUST SHUT OFF. DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT 55 THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS OFF ALMOST CAUSING A REAL BAD ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ROUGHLY A YEAR AND A COUPLE MONTHS AND THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT LEAST A MINIMUM OF 50 TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO A SHOP TO GET DIAGNOSED AND NO-ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. MY 17 YEAR DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND IF THIS IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I SEEN THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON MY FORD ESCAPE 2013. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER STALLED JUST SITTING STILL ALWAYS STALLED WHILE MOVING FORWARD BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 20-65
DRIVING BACK HOME LATE AT NIGHT ON A BUSY FREEWAY A MOM AND 2 KIDS BY THEM SELF MY CAR "OVERHEAT PULL OVER SAFELY WARNING CAME ON" SO I STARTED TO GET OVER LIGHT THEN THE WENT OFF WEIRD SO I TURNED THE HEATER ON IT WAS WORKING I STILL PROCEEDED TO PULL OFF THEN COLD AIR STARTED BLOWING I GOT OFF PULLED INTO GAS STATION CAR DIED. LET IT COOL DOWN POPPED HOOD NO COOLANT AFTER IT WAS COOL I ADDED COOLANT IT JUST POURED OUT ON TO GROUND. CHECKED AROUND CHECKED FOR LOOSE OR MISSING HOSES IT LOOKED FINE, I SAW BEHIND ENGINE YOU COULD SEE WERE OIL HAD B LEAKED CAUSE THERE WAS OIL BACK THERE AND COOLANT ON TOP OF THE OIL. NOW CAR WON'T START HAD TO GET IT TOWED. I BELIEVE IT'S A BLOWN HEAD GASKET I ALWAYS CHECK MY FLUIDS AND I KNOW IT SHOULD OF BEEN FINE I CHECKED IT 3 DAYS BEFORE THAT NIGHT. NOW I HAVE NO CAR NO WARRANTIES JUST BOUGHT IT 5 MONTHS AGO
I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE SE, 1.6 L AND RECENTLY IT WILL ACT LIKE IT IS NOT IN GEAR WHEN DRIVING, THE ENGINE WILL NOT REVE UP, NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDAL. ON OCCASION SHE SAID THE BATTERY LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHEN IT DOES THIS. SHE TURNS OFF IGNITION, RESTART AND IS FINE TILL NEXT TIME. BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS.
I PULLED IN THE DRIVE WAY. PUT THE SUV IN PARK BUT MY CAR WAS STILL ROLLING. I NOTICED MY DASH SAID I WAS IN NEUTRAL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON BUT MY GEAR SHIFTER WAS LOCKED. I THEN STARTED LOOKING UP WITH THE PROBLEM MAY BE. I WAS ABOUT TO RELEASE MY GEAR SHIFTER BUT USING THE UNLOCK WHITE LEVER UNDER THE COMPARTMENT. STILL NOTHING CHANGED MY CAR WAS STILL IN NATURAL. HAD EMERGENCY BREAK ACTIVATED TO KEEP THE CAR IN PLACE IN MY DRIVE. KEPT SEARCHING AN FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE THE TRANSMISSION CABLE BUSHING. IT WAS ALMOST MIDNIGHT SO I LEFT MY CAR OVERNIGHT WITH E BREAK ON TILL DAY LIGHT. THIS MORNING WENT OUT TO INVESTIGATE AN SURE ENOUGH IT WAS DETACHED. THE BUSHING WAS GONE. I MANUALLY BUT MY CAR IN PARK. CALLED ALL AUTO STORES AN THE INFORMED ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VERY ISSUE WITH MY YEAR MAKE AN MODEL. THEY ALSO DO NOT SELL THAT PART. I HAD MY GIRLFRIEND DRIVE MY CAR TO THE NEAREST FORD COMPANY IN GREENEVILLE TN TO PARK MY CAR TILL TOMORROW, MONDAY MARCH 22, 2021. I HAD TO MANUALLY PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. THEN IN DRIVE TO GET IT THERE. PLEASE ADVISE. I PUT IN MY VIN AN DIDN'T SEE MY CAR ON THIS RECALL LIST.
ENGINE IS LOSING COOLANT, BUT NO LEAK IS VISIBLE. ENGINE IS ALSO LOSING OIL BUT NO OIL IS VISIBLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN 6/12 WHICH SHOULD MEAN IT'S IN THE RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM BUT IT'S NOT FOR SOME REASON
2013 FORD ESCAPE, COOLANT LEAK FROM THE TIME I PURCHASED IN 2015, RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP TO RESOLVE ISSUE 3 TIMES AND ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. LAST TIME THERE THEY INFORMED ME A RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO AFFORD.I HAVE BEEN FILLING W/ANTIFREEEZE UNITLNOW TO BRING TO A MECHCANIC. NO LEAK IN RADIATOR HE FEELS THE ENGINE BURNING THE COOLANT AND A HEAD GASKET NEEDED. I SEE THERE IS A RECALL DO TO COOLANT LEAKCAUSING A FIRE. I NEED TO KNOW WHATS MY NEXT STEP TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE TO AVOID A DANGEROUS ENCOUNTER.
MY VEHICLE HAS A SAFETY RECALL SINCE JUNE 2020 BUT UNTIL NOW, THEY HAVEN'T TAKE ANY ACTION WITH IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING GEARS HARDER THAN NORMAL WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SLOWER AT 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE 2 DAYS AND IT STALLS ON ME. SLOWING DOWN COMING TO RED LIGHT CAR STALLS. HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 2 DAYS. NO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD OR ANYTHING. I AM DEATHLY AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW TOTALLY UNSAFE!
THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT THE VEHICLE WILL STALL WITH NO WARNING ON ACCELERATION (IN MOTION). THE VEHICLE WILL START AGAIN AND THIS CAN HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT VISIBLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. FORD SERVICE HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THIS AS WE HAVE DESCRIBED THIS PROBLEM TO THEM SEVERAL TIMES.
THERE IS A SLOW ANTIFREEZE LEAK. EVERY TWO DAYS, ANTIFREEZE HAS TO BE ADDED BUT THE LEAK IS NOT VISIBLE. ALSO, UPON STARTING THE CAR, SHIFTING INTO DRIVE AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE; THE CAR WILL GET BOGGED DOWN RIGHT BEFORE 20 MILES PER HOUR AND THEN STOP UNEXPECTEDLY. IT DOES NOT COMPLETELY USE POWER BUT IT DOES STALL. THERE HAS BEEN NO EXPLANATION FOUND FOR THIS AND IT IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE.
MY WIFE AND I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE PRE OWNED 2013 FORD ESCAPE AT A DEALERSHIP IN CAPE CORAL, FLOIDA. WE HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THAT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, THERE WAS AN INCOMPLETE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE THAT THE DEALER FAILED TO INFORM US OF. FORD RECALL #:20S30
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION JIST LET'S GO AND THEN WHEN YOU STOP AND TURN IT OFF AND TURN BACK ON YOUR ABLE TO GET GOING BACK INTO THE TRANSMISSION TO GET BACK INTO DRIVE BUT IT'S CONSTANTLY DOING THAT AS IT'S DRIVING YOU LOSE THE POWER TO IT OR ACT LIKE IT'S BOGGING DOWN AND SO FORTH IT SEEMS LIKE THIS ALREADY WAZIRI CALL ON SOME LIKE THIS BUT NOT FOR SURE
GEAR SELECTOR INDICATOR IS STUCK IN SPORTS MODE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE POURED WATER INTO THE RADIATOR RESERVOIR AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT INFORMED CAPITAL FORD OF LILLINGTON (945 N MAIN ST, LILLINGTON, NC 27546) OF THE FAILURE AND RECALL BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT RECALLS WERE VIN SPECIFIC. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE STATED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.

THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V8130000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,460.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while reversing out of the driveway and attempting to turn out of the driveway, the steering wheel locked up preventing the vehicle from turning. The contact shifted the vehicle into PARK and restarted the vehicle and the steering wheel unlocked. The contact was able to drive the vehicle however, several days later while driving at an undisclosed speed, the failure recurred, and the steering wheel locked. The contact was able to manually pull the vehicle over to the side of the road and restart the vehicle to unlock the steering wheel. The power steering assists warning light was illuminated during the failure. The local dealer went to the residence and picked up the vehicle to perform a diagnostic test. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT LATCH. ALSO, THE LEFT BACK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN.
We were experiencing the engine cutting out and dying very rarely for about 2 years. One day while driving the vehicle, I hit the accelerator and the car started to engage the drive train, but then cut out and died. I was able to restart the vehicle and put it into drive. It would accelerate but once it got to the correct RPM and tried to shift the engine would cut out again. Ford said that it was a transmission failure and because it wasn't under warranty it was our responsibility to replace it at our cost if we decided to do the repair. Now a year later, the exact issue that we were experiencing is beginning with the replacement transmission. If this is a recall is it the responsibility of Ford to reimburse me the cost of replacing the transmission and complete the recall repair for the transmission that they put in.
THERE IS AN ONGOING LEAK IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM. BEING REPORTED ON THE LAST DATE OF COOLANT ADDITION. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS PART OF A RECALL ON THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THE NHTSA SYSTEM INDICATES THAT MY VEHICLE EITHER IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL OR HAS BEEN FIXED. AS STATED IN THE RECALL, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
The ABS/Traction Control light comes on and a message flashes on the screen saying that 4 wheel drive is disabled and that hill assist is disabled. The vehicle will not accelerate when the gas pedal is pressed causing the driver to be put in harm's way if trying to enter traffic or go through an intersection. When hooked up to a scanner, it says that there is a bad ABS/Wheel Speed Sensor. We have replaced the "faulty" sensors several times and have also replaced all other parts that were recommended to fix the issue. We took the vehicle to a Ford dealer and they initially said that there was a recall to perform a flash of the computer to fix the issue. When they hooked up their machine to the vehicle, we were told that they were incorrect and that there was no recall for this issue and there was no update for the computer. This is an intermittent issue and we are unable to replicate the issue on demand. This has been an issue for over a year and it seems Ford does not have the answers to fix the issue.
2nd day I had it temp out side was -15° in Feb. I started my car and warning lamp said low coolant service immediately not even 2 minutes it said pull over safely engine will shut down. dealership came got it said it was a coolant hose.... they lied. it was the coolant bypass valve that was malfunctioning. I got the car back and it was okay for a couple weeks then said low coolant. I've been dealing with pretty significant coolant bypass valve problem since. so I got to researching and found that there was infact a recall on my year, make and model car but yet my vin wasn't included. this is seriously going to cause me or my family serious injury if not fixed and I do not believe I should have to pay for repairs on something that's known to be faulty.
SINCE THE DAY WE BROUGHT IT HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP IT WILL RANDOMLY DIE OR STALL OUT WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR. TODAY IT ACTUALLY DIED WHILE STILL IN PARK. ONCE IT GETS GOING DOWN THE ROAD IT'S FINE BUT SOMETIMES IT DIES WITHIN THE FIRST MINUTE. YESTERDAY IT DIED 7 DIFFERENT TIMES. IT IS NOT SHOWING ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR ERROR CODES.
ENGINE STALL TWICE WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING, STARTS RIGHT BACK UP, SEEMS SAME SYMPTOMS AS OTHER RECALLS FOR SAME YEAR ESCAPES
WHILE IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY IN A BUSY METRO AREA, TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITH AN INSTANT LOSS OF POWER AND FLASHED A CODE THAT SAID THERE WAS AN 'ENGINE MALFUNCTION' AND 'SERVICE NOW'. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT, HOWEVER, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTEROUS AT THOSE SPEEDS ON A METRO FREEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START AND ALTHOUGH IT STARTED SLUGGISH, IT RESUMED DRIVING WITH NO CODES AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. UNTIL AN HOUR LATER, WHEN THE SAME REPEAT INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS FUNCTIONING COMPLETELY NORMAL WITHOUT ANY WARNING INDICATOR THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE....UNTIL THE VEHICLE INSTANTLY SHUT DOWN AT A HIGH SPEED. THIS IS ABSOLUETLY HAZARDOUS AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE IS NO OPEN RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, DESPITE THE MULTIPLE ONLINE REPORTS OF OTHER CONSUMERS EXPERIENCING THE IDENTICAL ISSUE. THE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE IS UNKNOWN AS ALL LEVELS ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION UNTIL IT SHUT DOWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I REPEAT......IT WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC AT HIGH SPEEDS. VEHICLE CODE READERS DISPLAY NO CODE WHEN I HAVE HAD THEM READ. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED FROM A DEALERSHIP AND WAS INSPECTED LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AGO.

THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO HERITAGE FORD (2075 EDSEL LN NW, CORYDON, IN 47112) FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V331000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AND AN UNKNOWN RECALL, PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THE LOW COOLANT WARNING LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE LOSS OF COOLANT PERSISTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SET CYLINDER OVER TEMPERATURE AND ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ENGINE STALLS AT IDLE AND WHEN TAKING OFF FROM INTERSECTION HAS TWO ENGINE CODES P008B P0087 SOMETIMES DESERT A LOT AND SOMETIMES VERY LITTLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT-OFF AS THE ENGINE SERVICE FAULT WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO PALM COAST FORD (1150 PALM COAST PKWY SW, PALM COAST, FL 32137) WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE OR DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD POSSIBLY BE RELATED TO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND THE CONTACT HAD THE COMPUTER SYSTEM REPLACED. A MONTH LATER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF WITH SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT REMAINED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, 70% OF THE TIME THE VEHICLE STALLS AFTER 1 MINUTE, SOMETIMES ON THE ROAD WHICH IS DANGEROUS. NOW IT IS STALLING AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE AND I PLACE IT IN PARK. IT NOW STALLS WHILE IDLING. IN ALL INSTANCES I CAN RESTART THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEMS...EXCEPT IF IT STALLS AGAIN, WHICH IS NOW APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE TIME.
SUDDEN AND TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH. CAR HAS LESS THAN 50000 MILES ON IT. DEALERSHIP REPORTS NEW HEAD CYLINDER REQUIRED AND STATES NO KNOWLEDGE OF ENGINE ISSUES FOR THIS MODEL. REPAIRS ESTIMATED AT $5300.

THE SHIFT CABLE WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE CAN TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE CAN TOP OFF ALL THE FLUIDS, ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE ADD COOLANT LIGHT COMES BACK ON AND SAYS TO STOP CAR IMMEDIATELY DUE TO ENGINE OVERHEAT. WE GET IT PULLED OVER AND THE COOLANT IS JUST UNDER THE MIN. LINE. THE CAR BARELY HAS 120,000 MILES ON IT AND WE ARE THE FIRST AND ONLY OWNERS. ON ONE OCCASION, IT DID AND WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP ($600) WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN!!!
