WAS DRIVING ON A COLD SNOWY DAY TEMP GAUGE WENT FROM C TO HOT IN FIVE SECONDS THEN THE CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAM ON AND CAR LIMPED AT ABOUT 5 MILES HOUR TO SIDE OF ROAD ENGINE WAS COLD . CHECKED COOLENT IT WAS 2 OZS LOW STARTED UP CALL GARAGE RAN CODES CAME UP 1299 FORD SAID THAT NORMAL IT'S OKAY TO DRIVE TOOK IT HOME EVERY FOUR DAYS HAD TO ADD COOLENT TOOK IT BACK. HAD A PART PUT ON THE COOLENT SYSTEM THREW MORE CODES HAD TO HAVE WIRING HARNESS PUT ON STILL LEAKED COOLENT ORDERED HOSE CLAMPS THROUGH FORD SUPPOSE TO BE HERE 1/19/18. NOW THEY ARE SAYING MIDDLE OF FEBURY SO STILL WITH OUT CAR.
THE VEHICLE IS LOOSING COOLANT. START RUNS AND AFTER A COUPLE MILES SHUTS OFF. WILL START BACK UP AND DRIVE. FORD RECALLED THE 2013 FORD ESCAPES MADE UP TO AUGUST 31,2012. MINE WAS MADE IN AUGUST 2012. TICKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE. SMOKES WHITE SMOKE WHEN FIRST STARTED.
COOLANT LEVEL DROPS QUICKLY, BUT THERE IS NO STEAM OR PUDDLE VISIBLE. CAR OVERHEATS. IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER SAFETY RECALL 17S09, BUT 2013 FORD ESCAPES ARE NOT INCLUDED. OUR CAR HAS A 1.6 LITRE ECOBOOST ENGINE & WAS BUILT AT THE LOUISVILLE PLANT. FORD ALSO IDENTIFIED COOLANT AND OVERHEATING ISSUES WITH THE 1.6L ECOBOOST ENGINE FOR 2013 ESCAPES AND HAS ISSUED RECALLS. HOWEVER, USING THE VIN SEARCH, NONE OF THE 2013 OR 2014 MODEL RECALLS COVERED THIS VEHICLE. IT IS CLEAR THAT THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH THE 1.6L ESCAPE ENGINES AND THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE EXHIBITS ALL THE SAME ISSUES IDENTIFIED IN THE 2013 AND 2014 RECALLS, BUT YET SOMEHOW IS NOT TECHNICALLY COVERED BY ANY OF THE RECALLS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR APPROX 2 YRS.
ENGINE IS SUDDENLY SAYING HIGH TEMP ENGINE STOP SLOWLY THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WIL COME ON AND LOW COOLANT FLUID. BEEN DOING IT ON AND OFF FOR A YEAR. TAKEIT TO FORD DEALER AND IT WILL NOT DO IT FOR THEM. FLUID IS FULL.
THE BACK WINDOW HAS NOW SHATTERED TWICE ON OUR VEHICLE AND WE HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED, BUT THERE IS APPARENTLY NO KNOWN PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE COOLANT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED PENNINGTON FORD POLARIS (807 S VAN BUREN ST, NEWTON, IL 62448) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V4310000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
LOSES COOLANT ON A REGULAR BASIS. I'VE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT 10 TIMES IN THE PAST 14 MONTHS FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY FOUND A LEAK ONCE BUT EVER SINCE THEN THEY "CAN'T FIND ANY LEAKS". MY VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WON'T HELP ME ANYMORE BUT IT'S STILL AN ISSUE AND WAS BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT, SO IN MY OPINION IT SHOULD STILL BE COVERED. IT'S BEEN A CONSISTENT ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND THE "VEHICLE OVERHEATING" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT LEAKED OUT, WHICH RESULTED IN THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD NASHVILLE DEALER LOCATED AT 101 ANDERSON LN, MADISON, TN, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE, VIN IS [XXX], I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES ON MY CAR. IN EARLY NOVEMBER I HAD AN INCIDENT THAT SAID MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING AND TO "PULL OVER NOW" I THOUGHT THAT WAS STRANGE AS I HAD ONLY STARTED DRIVING A MINUTE BEFORE THE OCCURRENCE. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED MY CAR, ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER IT STARTED BACK UP WITHOUT A PROBLEM, I TOOK IT TO A PLACE TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BUT THEY NEVER FOUND A PROBLEM. HOWEVER ON NOVEMBER 20TH I HAD THE SAME EXACT ISSUE HAPPEN AFTER ONLY DRIVING FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALLS AND NOTHING THEY COULD DO IF THEY DIDN'T SEE THE ISSUE THEMSELVES. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO MY CAR MECHANIC AND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS CHANGED AS PER A RECOMMENDATION FROM A FRIEND HE HAD THAT WORKS FOR FORD. I JUST GOT MY CAR BACK A FEW DAYS AGO AND TODAY I HAD THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. I DID TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TODAY HOWEVER I AM COMPLETELY APPALLED THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS ISSUE. MY CAR IS NOT EVEN 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS HAD OVER 14 RECALLS.. ALL OF WHICH I HAVE GOTTEN FIXED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE WITH 2013 FORD ESCAPES THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE PARKED, THE STEERING FAILED AND COULD NOT BE TURNED. ALSO, THE POWER ASSIST INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (CHRISTIAN BROTHERS FORD, 1375 HIGHWAY 2 TRUCK BYP, CROOKSTON, MN 56716) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,222.
VEHICLES LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON THE VEHICLE 12/26/17. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN A NON-FORD MECHANIC AND ON 12/27 THE WATER PUMP, COOLANT BYPASS VALVES, AND GASKETS AND SEALS WERE REPLACED DUE TO A LEAK. ONE MONTH LATER, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HAD THE WARNING COME ON FOR OVERHEATING AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO REDUCE SPEED. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME, CHECKED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR AND IT WAS LOW. I FILLED THE VEHICLE WITH COOLANT AND RETURNED TO THE MECHANIC. THIS TIME THEY FOUND A LEAK IN A HEATER CORE HOSE AND THAT WAS REPLACED. ON 2/10/18, THE WARNING LIGHT FOR LOW COOLANT CAME ON AGAIN. THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS BELOW THE MINIMUM LINE. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY COULD FIND NO VISIBLE LEAKS. THEY LET THE CAR RUN FOR 15 MINUTES AND FOUND THAT THE FREEZE OUT PLUGS ON THE HEADS WERE DAMP; NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AND THEY SAID TO CONTACT FORD. I CALLED FORD ON 2/13/18 ABOUT THE ISSUES, SINCE NUMEROUS OTHER 2013 ESCAPES WERE INVOLVED IN RECALLS AND THEY SAID YOUR VEHICLE ISN'T APART OF THAT RECALL AND IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY, TO BAD. THE ISSUE HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED. IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS I'VE BEEN FILLING THE COOLANT EVERY OTHER WEEK. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 61,960 MILES WHEN THIS STARTED TO OCCUR.
'UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED': WE BOUGHT A NEW 2013 FORD ESCAPE. IT HAD MANY PROBLEMS, INCLUDING MANY SAFETY RECALLS. I REQUEST FORD BUY THE CAR BACK MULTIPLE TIMES (THEY REFUSED). OUR DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED ON 12-25-2017 AT 09:55 AM, WHEN MY WIFE'S CAR WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY A CAR GOING 50 MPH. BOTH CARS WERE TOTALED. MY WIFE WAS IN THE DRIVERS SEAWEARING HER SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT & WAS THROWN FORWARD AND HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO ENGAGE. SHE GOT A CONCUSSION INJURY AND HAD TO GO TO THE ER, ALSO A BAD WHIPLASH AND OTHER INJURIES, INCLUDING SEATBELT RASH ON LEFT COLLARBONE. SEAT BELT FAILED OR HER HEAD WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED. WE AREN'T FIRST FORD OWNERS TO BE INJURED BY SEAT BELT PROBLEMS. I FOUND MULTIPLE REPORTS ON THE NHTSA SITE OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER INJURIES IN 2013 & 2014 FORD ESCAPES DUE TO SEAT BELT FAILURES. (NOTE: THIS ISSUE MAY BE SIMILAR TO EXISTING NHTSA RECALL 16V875, FOR THE FORD FUSION, BUT NOT THE ESCAPE.) FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED MULTIPLE TIMES DRIVERS & PASSENGERS ARE BEING INJURED BY THE FAILURE OF DRIVER & PASSENGER SEAT BELTS, YET HAS TAKEN NO ACTION, NOR HAS NHTSA. TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE AT 73269 MILES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR ENGINE COOLANT LOW/ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNINGS. RECALL WORK WAS COMPLETED ON VEHICLE; HOWEVER, STILL HAD ISSUES WITH ENGINE COOLANT LOW/ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNINGS WHERE THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED IN TO A DEALER. PRIOR TO THE HOLIDAYS, TOOK CAR IN TO LOCAL SHOP FOR A NEW BATTERY AND AIR FILTER. THIS VEHICLE IS A PERSONAL VEHICLE THAT ISN'T DRIVEN MUCH. I HAVE A COMPANY CAR. ON DECEMBER 23, 2017, LEAVING AMARILLO, TEXAS, ENTERED FEEDER ROAD TO ACCESS INTERSTATE. ENGINE COOLANT LOW WARNING CAME ON AND THEN IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNING. TOWED TO FIRESTONE -- THEY SAID IT WAS A TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART. TOWED TO GENE MESSER FORD -- THEY HAD IT FOR TWO WEEKS, AND JUST INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED -- DUE TO OVERHEATING - CYLINDER HEAD WARPED -- $6,800 FOR THE REPAIR. THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE HAS BEEN CITED FOR SAFETY CONCERNS BECAUSE OF 29 FIRES. I CONTACTED FORD PRIOR TO THIS TO ASK FOR HELP AND THEY DECLINED. THESE ENGINES HAVE HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR CYLINDER HEAD PROBLEMS AND THE RECALL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM, AS MY VEHICLE STILL HAD "ENGINE COOLANT LOW AND ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNINGS" AFTER THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED. THE CONTINUOUS ENGINE COOLANT LOW WARNING RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE ALSO RECEIVING A NEW RADIATOR IN 2016.
PARK TO REVERSE: VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SELF ENGAGED FROM PARK TO REVERSE. MECHANICAL DEFECT, AS A RESULT, THE SHIFT CONTROL LEVER COULD DISENGAGE FROM THE TRANSMISSION WITHOUT WARNING. ON WED. 12/20/17 AT 3:10 P.M. ' I WAS LEAVING WORK I ENTERED MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE & STARTED THE VEHICLE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. NOTICED MY FRONT AND BACK WINDOWS WERE COVERED WITH SNOW. ENGAGED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ON FRONT WINDOW, & REALIZED THAT THE SNOW WAS ACTUALLY FROZEN ICE THAT NEEDED TO BE SCRAPED. VEHICLE WAS IN PARK POSITION, LET UP ON THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE. SCRAPER IN HAND, GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO SCRAPE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN PARK POSITION/MOTIONLESS. THE VEHICLE WAS MOTIONLESS FROM THE TIME I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO THE TIME I MOVED TO SIDE OF CAR ON DRIVER SIDE, TO SCRAPE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WITH SCRAPER. I STARTED TO SCRAPE MY FRONT WINDSHIELD. AFTER 3-4 SCRAPES ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTING TO MOVE IN THE REVERSE DIRECTION WHICH WAS AWAY FROM WHERE I WAS STANDING. I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR & GET INTO VEHICLE TO APPLY THE BRAKE, HOWEVER, THE DOOR MOMENTUM KNOCKED ME TO THE GROUND & I WAS DRAGGED BY THE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING IN THE REVERSE DIRECTION. I WAS LOOKING AT THE FRONT WHEEL AS I WAS BEING DRAGGED UNTIL THE CAR TURNED ENOUGH TO RELEASE ME FROM THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN ITS BACK BUMPER HIT THE VEHICLE FRONT BUMPER BEHIND IT. THE WAS IDLING, AND THE VEHICLE WAS MOTIONLESS WHEN I GOT TO IT, IT DID NOT APPEAR TO BE DRIVING IN REVERSE BUT WAS STATIONARY IDLING AS IF IT WAS IN PARK POSITION AGAIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (FAIRLANE FORD, 14585 MICHIGAN AVE, DEARBORN, MI 48126 (855) 285-3673), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,860.
MY STEERING FROZE UP ON MY VEHICLE IT WILL NOT TURN RIGHT OR LEFT. AND MY SHOTS OR MY STRUTS HAVE WORN OUT TOO SOON I THINK ALSO ON THIS VEHICLE BUT I NEED THIS SUSPENSION CHECKED OUT IN THE STEERING CHECKED OUT ON THIS VEHICLE.
THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY SPUTTERS, AND THEN DIES WHILE IN DRIVING MODE - NORMALLY PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. WE HAVE BEEN ALMOST HIT NUMEROUS TIMES. IN AN HOUR TIME SPAN, YESTERDAY, IT HAPPENED 10 TIMES, TODAY IN A 15 MINUTE TIMESPAN, 3 TIMES. AM AN UBER DRIVER AND CANNOT PUT THEIR LIVES IN JEOPARDY - GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED. THIS HAPPENS IN ALL SITUATIONS - WHETHER IDLING IN LINE TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AT A LIGHT, OR WHILE DRIVING. HAS EVEN HAPPENED WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IT STARTS TO SPUTTER, AND THEN JUST SHUTS OFF. SOMETIMES YOU CAN PLACE IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART, BUT OTHER TIMES, YOU MUST COAST TO SIDE OF STREET, PLACE IN PARK, AND THEN TRY TO RESTART. THERE ARE 100S OF INCIDENCES ON THE INTERNET SHOWING THE SAME SYMPTOMS. PLEASE HELP RESOLVE THIS. GOING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IS NOT THE ANSWER - THEY TELL ME THEY CANNOT "DUPLICATE" THE ISSUE AND THEREFOR DO NOT KNOW HOW TO "FIX" IT. IN THE MEANTIME, THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE, AND A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING THE ENTIRE MONTH OF DECEMBER - ON THE 18TH - 10 TIMES IN A 3 HOUR TIMESPAN - TODAY, THE 19TH - 3 TIMES IN A 15 MINUTE TIMESPAN. THIS IS AN EVERYDAY ISSUE AND GETTING WORK. THIS IS PREVENTING USING THIS VEHICLE AS AN UBER DRIVER, AND SERIOUSLY IMPACTING OUR INCOME. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THERE IS A TECH SERVICE BULLETIN - TSB-13-12-12; NHTSA-10054363; DTC PO106, PO236.
COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE 3RD CYLINDER. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP BELIEVES IT TO BE A BAD ENGINE. THEY WANT TO INSTALL A NEW ENGINE. THIS CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WITH JUST OVER 71,000 MILES ON IT. I'VE CONTACTED FORD FOR ASSISTANCE, THEY WILL GIVE NONE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THERE HAS BEEN A COOLANT LEAK. ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I HAD MY PERSONAL MECHANIC CHECK THE CAR BECAUSE OF A COOLANT LEAK, AND FOUND FAULTY HEATER HOSES.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEED (THANK GOD) I ATTEMPTED TO TURN AND THE STEERING HUNG UP. I COULD FEEL THE FLOOR BOARD UNDER MY FEET MOVE AS I TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL. I FORCED IT TO TURN AND THEN STOPPING, I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR ONLY TO FIND A LARGE PIECE OR THE WHOLE PIECE OF THE HEAT SHIELD HAD COME LOOSE AND WAS LAYING ON TOP OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND THE STEERING. I PULLED IT LOOSE, SOME WAS TORN UP, AND PUSHED THE REST OUT OF THE WAY OF THE STEERING. DROVE HOME. WAS INFORMED IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. CAR HAS 63,000 MILES ON IT. NEVER DRIVEN HARD.
MY DRIVER-SEAT SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT AND ALARM DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. IT DOES NOT COME ON ON A CONSISTENT BASIS AT START-UP. IF I UNLATCH MY SEAT BELT WHILE THE DRIVING THE ALARM AND WARNING LIGHT DO NOT COME ON AT ALL. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BELT LATCHING AT ONE POINT AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE LATCH. MY BACKSEAT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT LATCH AT ALL. THIS IS THE SECOND BELT TO HAVE LATCHING DIFFICULTIES.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that coolant was leaking from underneath the vehicle. The coolant detector would not accurately detect the coolant level. The coolant reservoir needed to be refilled weekly. The ABS warning system would chime and illuminate whenever the vehicle was started, and the vehicle would fail to move. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle several times, the ABS warning light turned off and the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated that the transmission was slipping out of the park(P) into drive(D). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the wheel hub bearing needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the wheel hub bearings were replaced four times and the front axles were replaced twice; however, the failure recurred. MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL HAS THE 1.6L V6 ENGINE AND IS SAYING THAT IT IS OVER HEATING AND GIVING ME A P1299 CODE. I HAVE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT IT STILL GIVES ME THIS CODE. I CAN LET THE CAR SIT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND TURN IT ON AND IT WILL IMMEDIATELY SAY THAT IT IS OVERHEATING. I CAN CLEAR THE CODE OUT OF THE SYSTEM AND DRIVE THE CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS TO A WEEK WITH NO PROBLEMS. THIS ISSUE HAPPEN WITH APPROXIMATELY 98,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. MY INFO LIGHT CAME ON IN CAR SAYING MY ENGINE COOLANT WAS LOW. I FILLED IT 10 DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE THERE WERE NO LEAKS UNDER MY CAR SO I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE THE COOLANT COULD BE GOING TO. THE MECHANIC PRINTED OUT A RECALL SHEET FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM AND TOLE ME I SHOULD CALL THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER. I CALLED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY CAR FOR THAT PROBLEM. THE RECALL COVERS MY CAR MODEL, ENGINE SIZE, AND MANUFACTURED DATE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING AS THE SERVICE CENTER. THE FIRST RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM DIDN'T INCLUDE MY CARS MANUFACTURED DATE, BUT 3 MONTHS LATER THE RECALL WAS UPDATED TO INCLUDE MORE CARS AND MY MANUFACTURED DATE WAS THEN INCLUDED.

MASS STATE POLICE AND REVERE FIRE DEPT. RESPONDED MAPFRE INSURANCE CO. DECLARED IT A TOTAL LOSS.. DONNA FROM YORK FORD TOLD ME TO FILL THE TANK UP BECAUSE THEY PUT A CLEANER IN THE FUEL.??? SEVERAL TIMES WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR AND BACKING UP, THE WARNING LIGHT "STEERING ASSIST FAULT-SERVICE REQUIRED" CAME ON. TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON THEN LIGHT GOES OFF HOWEVER A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE TO US AND OTHER DRIVERS IF LOSS OF POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING. REQUESTING RECALL ON THE 2013 MODELS BE RECALLED SIMILAR TO EARLIER ESCAPE MODEL RECALLS WITH SAME SAFETY ISSUES (NHTSA CAMPAIGN #-14V284000 & FORD RECALL # 14S05)
JUST BECAUSE THE VIN ON THIS SPECIFIC 2013 ESCAPE DOESN'T MATCH ALL THE RECALLS DOESN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I'VE ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE WATER PUMP REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. THERE'S ELECTRICAL ISSUES, HVAC ISSUES, DOOR ISSUES, DELAYED ACCELERATION ISSUES, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON WITH THIS VEHICLE. I REACHED OUT TO FORD AND THEY OFFERED NO HELP. YOUR SYSTEM ONLY ALLOWS ME TO CHECK THREE PROBLEMS.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
