The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle would not shift out of the park. The contact also stated that the vehicle proceeded to drift forward. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where they diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The contact had the transmission replaced. Recently while at a gas station, the contact attempted to park the vehicle while in reverse; however, the gear shifter failed to shift out of reverse. The contact stated that the vehicle continued to drift backward. The vehicle was turned off. The contact took the vehicle to another independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective gear linkage system. Unable to repair the vehicle, the contact was informed by a mechanic that he would be able to shift the vehicle into drive position however, once the vehicle was turned off, the vehicle would not restart. The contact drove the vehicle home and parked the vehicle with the parking brake activated. The vehicle then failed to restart. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that there were no recalls on the Vin. The contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000
After a 45 minute highway drive, I left my vehicle running in park to go run into a store briefly. Upon re-entering my car and shifting into reverse my engine revved but the car did not move. Initially I thought I was caught on a curb until all of a sudden the transmission caught an jolted the car backwards. I just barely managed to get the car home but after catching gears to move forward it would slip the engine would rev and then catch and jolt forward. Eventually it died and had to be pushed home. After reading online about this issue it seems common for this model and year, however my vehicle fell into a different made year. My big concern here is this happened without warning as seems to be the case with many other. Luckily i was a short ways from my destination and also parked in a parking lot when it first occurred, rather than doing 65 on the highway in the fast lane. A recall on all transmission from 2014 Ford Escapes should be activated to correct this issue. Multiple mechanics have mentioned it is a terrible year for the car, so clearly its common knowledge that Ford has slightly addressed. I do not care that I have to pay for this expensive fix, I am more concerned about it happening to other and severe accidents occurring.
I had a blowout on my left driver tire. We were on a interstate highway. The Highway patrol was unable to get the lug nuts off to change the tire. I had the tire iron that came with the car and the Highway Patrol had a 4 way tire iron. None of them were able to get the lug nuts off. When I had it towed to a Ford dealer I was told that this is a problem with all the Ford Escapes. The lug nuts swell up and cannot be removed. I was told to get the lug nuts changed out and I would not have this problem. I did this at my expense. Why is Ford not required to change these out at their expense and why were we not notified before I had this blowout out on a interstate???? It cost me $150.00 to get all the lug nuts replaced.
Coolant light came on low Coolant I added more than came on again and again low on Coolant had it checked out 2 times can't get parts for it because only Ford can only have parts took it to them 3 times and now they say option 1 tear down to find it or option 2 replace the whole motor because it would run into labor times been leaking since I had it last year only had about 89,000 miles on it and still waiting to get it fix engine warning light been coming on plus the low Coolant light
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact was able to jumpstart the vehicle; however, the failure had been reoccurring. The contact stated that the failure persisted moments after jumpstarting the vehicle. The contact stated that the battery was replaced with the assistance of her cousin; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle had to be towed several times due to the failure. The anti-theft warning light was illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
car was parked, Got into it put the shifter down and nothing would happen with the car. It appears there is a issue with the shifter cable. There was a recall for this model if it was built between may-sep 2013. This model was built in Jun of 2014. Same issue and model built at the same plant. Since it was built about 9 month later they (FORD) will not cover the fix.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the message "transmission failure" displayed before the speed was reduced and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 151,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 10 mph, there was an abnormal crunching sound coming from the steering wheel. In addition, the steering wheel ceased without warning. The vehicle was restarted and the steering functionality returned. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
MY DASH LIGHTS NEVER INDICATED ANY LOW OIL. ENDED UP RUNNING OUT OF OIL AND I STARTED KEEPING TRACK. I WAS PUTTING IN A QT A DAY. NO VISIBLE SIGNS ON MOTOR OR GROUND OF OIL LEAK. BUT SMOKE IN TAIL PIPE. THEN TODAY THE MOTOR BLOW COMPLETELY EVEN W OIL IN IT. I SEARCHED UP MY MAKE AND MODEL. THEIR ARE TONS OF RECALLS FOR THE OIL LEAK AD I SAID, AND FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NOT WORKING. BUT MY DEALERSHIP SAID I HAVE NO RECALLS WHAT'S SO EVER AND NON HAVE BEEN DONE ON THIS CAR. SOME OF THOSE RECALLS I READ SAID IT COULD CATCH FIRE!!
The contact owns a Cybex Safety Seat, Model Number: 518002151, Model Type: Sirona M, Manufactured on July 2018. The convertible safety seat was being utilized in a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact noticed that his daughter had foam in her hands but he could not determine the origin of the foam. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22C001000 (Child Seat). Upon inspecting the safety seat headrest, the contact noticed that the bottom left side of the headrest was missing approximately 1.5 inches of foam. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to no longer utilize the safety seat as it was not safe. Additionally, the manufacturer informed the contact that they could not assist with the safety seat replacement due to the manufacture date. The safety seat was not replaced.
Was traveling for work in Ohio. On a major highway at night. The road was under construction and therefore had merging lanes and a reduced speed limit coming up. I passed 5 trucks before the merge to get ahead them before the tight lines. As I was passing I was losing power. Very dangerous in the left lane! I eventually was able to cut some people off with my flashers on to get to the right lane. There was no shoulder! My car continued slowing in 55mph construction zone. I was finally able to get on a shoulder. I was able to turn the car on and off around 8 times to limp off the highway to a near by Loves truckstop. No leaks or smoke. There was no warning. The transmission failed. Towed to a local Ford dealer. 370 miles from home. They were zero help. Had it transported to a dealer at home. Total catastrophic trans failure. Around $6700 to Ford with no discounts from them.
THE CAR STARTED SKIPPING WHILE DRIVING ON CITY HIGHWAY. WHEN I WOULD STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT IT WOULD HESITATE TO PULL OFF THEN LURCH FORWARD. IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT, MY SYSTEM CHECK SAID IT WAS OK. I ONLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 67,000 MILES ON THE CAR. IT HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE LAST MONTH AND TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS CHECKED "OK"
Unknown- I purchased my Car in 2021 and I’ve had ongoing transmission issues since I purchased it. As of now the issues have gotten worse. I had the transmission recall repair done, but it did not fix the jerking way my car was driving. The repairs keep getting more costly and I don’t believe there’s an actual fix, but rather that this vehicle was sold with a faulty transmission. As of now I can’t drive my vehicle because last month there was a fire under my hood and it’s totally unsafe for me and my family to be in. Ford won’t take any responsibility but they’ve already had to buy back vehicles for settling them with bad transmissions. This is not new for them.
I REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS ON 4/25/2021 FOR MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE DUE TO AN P0303 ERROR INDICATING A MISFIRE FOR # 3 CYLINDER. ALL THE SPARK PLUGS WERE EASILY CHANGED EXCEPT CYLINDER #3, THIS SPARK PLUG SEIZED. AS A RESULT, I HAD MY FORD ESCAPE TOWED TO HASTINGS FORD (GREENVILLE, NC) ON 4/29/2021. GARY FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED TO TELL ME (@5:00 4/29/2021) THAT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE SEIZED SPARK PLUG AND THAT REPLACING THE CYLINDER HEAD WOULD NOT BE SUFFICIENT. THE ENGINE (1.6 L ECOBOOST) IS KNOWN TO LEAK COOLANT AND THAT IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY TO JUST REPLACE THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE THE "LONG BLOCK" FOR A TOTAL COST OF $7800 (INCLUDING LABOR). MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 104,954 MILE. THE DEALERSHIP KNOWINGLY ACKNOWLEDGES A DEFECT WITH THE MOTOR BUT WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS FIXING THE ENGINE. I CALL FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 4/29/2021 @ 6:06 TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE IN REPAIRING MY VEHICLE (CASE # - CAS-31599643) AND RECEIVED A CALL FROM A SUPERVISOR ON 4/30/2021 @ 1:37. JOEL INDICATED THAT FORD ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS THE REPAIR OF MY VEHICLE SINCE IT'S BEYOND THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I HAVE FOUND 2 CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS AGAINST FORD FOR THE 1.6 L ECOBOOST DUE TO THE COOLANT LEAK DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS.
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BECAME VERY HARD TO USE. THE ALERT "STEERING FAULT SERVICE NOW" CAME ON. IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS? THE MAN I TALK TO SAID ITS PROBABLY ELECTRICAL AND ITS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. LOOKING FOR INFORMATION THANK YOU
I TRIED TO PARK MY CAR AS USUALLY, PUT THE SHIFT IN P, BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE. I WAS SCARED AND UNPLEASANTLY SURPRISED. I HAD TO TO DRIVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF HOME DEPOT IN DICKSON CITY AND FINALLY DECIDED TO TURN OF THE CAR. AFTER THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN ON THE ENGINE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AWAY TO GIBBONS FORD.

Driving a friends vehicle, got out to run into an open garage for an errand. Placed floor shift in park, left driver door open, vehicle running...no chime! Came back to SUV, friend had gotten out of the passenger side, closed door and was standing at the rear of the vehicle. She stated that she needed to get into the cargo area and that I needed to turn the vehicle off so that it could be opened. I questioned why I could not just push the door open button and she stated that it was a safety feature. She came around to the outside of the driver's door and said to reach in and turn it off, at which time the SUV immediately went into reverse, caught me under the door and dragged me approximately 20-25 feet The vehicle came to rest partially on the driveway and partially in grass. I had road rash on my back and massive blood loss in my abdomen as well as bruising on thigh and elbows. It is my understanding that this model has been recalled for both the lack of chime when running, key in the ignition, door open AND a transmission bushing that malfunctions and does not properly go into park by using the gear shifter. And that others have been dragged by their 2014 Escapes. I do not own this vehicle and the owner stated that I did not properly put it into park OR knocked it out of park when I reached in to turn the ignition off. Therefore she will not have the vehicle checked for a malfunction.
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. DRIVER PULLED TO SAFE AREA AND STOPPED CAR AT WHICH POINT IT WOULD NOT MOVE. NO WARNING/EMERGENCY LIGHTS DISPLAYED IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (NO CHECK ENGINE, BATTERY, OVERHEAT, OR OTHER HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY DISPLAYED). TOWED TO CLOSEST FORD DEALER. DIAGNOSTICS STATED TRANSMISSION FAILURE (92,000 MI; BOUGHT USED FROM FORD DEALER IN 2017 WITH 60K MILES). TRANSMISSION REPLACED. DURING TEST DRIVE FOLLOWING REPLACEMENT, FORD DEALER MECHANIC IDENTIFIED A RATTLING NOISE. THIS NOISE WAS NOT HEARD PRIOR TO THE FAILURE BUT MAY HAVE BEEN PRESENT DURING THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE BUT NOT HEARD BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER/ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THE MECHANIC RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED A CRACKED FLYWHEEL/FLEXPLATE. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR SIMILAR FORD CARS (I.E. EDGE) FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE AND REPAIRS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL INCLUDED REPAIRS OF TRANSMISSION. ADDITIONALLY, TRANSMISSION/FLEXPLATE FAILURES IN THE 2014 ESCAPE IS INCLUDED IN A 2020 CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT ALLEGING FORD ACTIVELY CONCEALED ENGINE & TRANSMISSION FAILURES. VEHICLES IDENTIFIED IN THIS SETTLEMENT SHOULD BE RECALLED. CONSUMERS WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR IDENTIFIED FAILURES SHOULD BE REIMBURSED PARTS/LABOR BY FORD. THE VEHICLE IN THIS INCIDENT WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN A PRIOR ENGINE RECALL. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED BY A FORD DEALER IN MAY 2018.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE IN APRIL 2021. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO AUTONATION FORD SANFORD (4911 WAYSIDE DR, SANFORD, FL 32771, (407) 680-0781) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A COOLANT LEAK WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS COOLANT IN CYLINDER NUMBER 3. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE A 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE WITH 67000 MILES AND WHEN I WAS PARKED BURGER KING PARKING LOT WITH ENGINE RUNNING A MESSAGE CAME ON THAT SAID IT WAS OVERHEATING SO I PARKED IT AND LOOKED UNDER HOOD SAW IT HAD AN ANTIFREEZE RESERVOIR THAT WAS LOW SO I PROCEEDED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT FOR CLONINGER FORD MORGANTON NC FOR THE WORKS OIL CHANGE AND COOLANT RESERVOIR AND THEY CHECKED IT PUT ANTIFREEZE IN IT AND SAID ANY PROBLEMS CALL THEM. I LEFT AND IT SEEMED OK, UNTIL I HAD IT RUNNUNG IN THE DRIVEWAY AND IT WAS OVERHEATING IT SAID AGAIN SO THEN I CALLED TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND GOT APPOINTMENT TO COME IN AGAIN AND I WENT AND SHOWED THEM THAT THE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY AGAIN SO MAYBE I HAD A LEAK SINCE THEY JUST FILLED IT UP A WEEK AGO AT MY APPOINTMENT SAME DEALER SERVICE DEPT. AFTER THEY LOOKED AT IT THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE ENGINE COOLANT SYSTEM CAUSING A CRACK IN THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD BE $8000. PLUS LABOR TO REPAIR AND THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR IT AND IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WERE SEEING IT MORE AND MORE ON THIS CAR AND I WOULD BE BETTER TO TRADE IT IN. IT NOW SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY UNTIL SOMETHING CAN GET DONE. I TRULY BELIEVE CONSUMERS SHOULD BE COVERED FOR THIS WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS HERE AND WITH ATTORNEYS ON THE INTERNET WHO ARE EXPLORING SAME PROBLEM.
THERE IS A COOLANT SYSTEM LEAK SIMILAR TO THAT IN FORD RECALL #17S09 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN #17V209), BUT THE DEALER SAYS MY CAR IS NOT COVERED BY THAT RECALL.
2014 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM TAKEN IN FOR EVERY RECALL, AND MAINTAINED. WHILE DRIVING ON A 3 LANE ROAD GOING 40 MPH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT ON FULL SPEED (NOT RAINING) AND WOULD NOT/COULD NOT TURN THEM OFF. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES THEY WENT DOWN TO SLOW SPEED. THEN THE CAR LOST POWER, NO STEERING OR BRAKES. NO WAY TO STOP OR STEER THE CAR. IT SLOWED AND FINALLY CAME TO A CLUNKY STOP. FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR ONTO THE ROAD AT THAT TIME. WITHIN 1-2 MINUTES THE FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE, UP AND OVER THE HOOD ONTO THE TOP AND OVER THE CAR COMPLETELY.
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN CITY ROAD, VEHICLE WAS SUDDENLY IN NEUTRAL. WAS UNABLE TO GET IT TO STAY IN DRIVE. VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED. CURRENTLY TRANSMISSION BEING REBUILT.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SLIPS GEAR AND KICKS WHEN GOING FROM 2ND GEAR TO 3RD FROM TIME TO TIME I'M AFRAID I'M GONNA HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the low coolant warning light illuminated. The vehicle would also stall with a burning odor was present coming from the antifreeze. The contact added coolant and the warning light was no longer displayed. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the heater hose failed. The hose was replaced; however, the failure continued. The vehicle was returned to the dealer due to the coolant not circulating in the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V431000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 115,189. Claim number is [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”
THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK DOOR IS MISSING THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK FEATURE.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, she observed smoke issuing from under the hood and from under the vehicle. No warning lights had been illuminated. The contact was able to pull over and shut the vehicle off, however upon exiting the vehicle she saw that flames were coming from under the vehicle from an area just behind the front tires. The contact called the fire department, and the police department also was on the scene and issued an incident report. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,355.
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 3 MONTHS, MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE FLYWHEEL IN FRONT OF THE ENGINE BROKE WITH NO WARNING LIGHT GOING ON (ONLY A TELLTALE RATTLING WHEN TURNING ON THE IGNITION) WHICH DID EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO OTHER NEARBY PARTS, SUCH AS THE FRONT PUMP. I AM AWARE THAT THE DEFECTIVE FLYWHEEL IS STAMPED INSTEAD OF MADE OF CAST IRON AND SO, THE INFERIOR MATERIAL HAS FAILED IN OTHER FORD ESCAPES. FURTHERMORE DELAYS OF ALL THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT PARTS BY THE FORD MOTOR CO. TO RUGE'S FORD DEALER, DRAGGED ON FOR 2 WEEKS FROM 12/28/2020 TO 1/15/2021 AND AGAIN FROM 4/5/2021 UNTIL NOW 4/18/2021. MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE SITS IDLE AT RUGE'S FORD FOR 2 WEEKS WAITING FOR ALL THE PARTS TO ARRIVE. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS IN MY AREA HAVE EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THE DEFECTIVE FLYWHEEL. I EXPECT YOU TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION AND ISSUE A RECALL ON THE DEFECTIVE FLYWHEEL PART.
AS RECENT AS 3/30/21 SUDDENLY UPON STARTING MY CAR UP THE POWERSTERRING WENT OUT, FORTUNATELY, BEFORE ANY MAJOR MOVEMENT OF CAR. I SHIFTED TO PARK AND SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND RESTARTED AND FINALLY THE POWER STERRING WAS WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW AND RATHER EPISODIC IN NATURE. TIME TO HAVE IT FIXED VIA RECALL PROCESS. PLEASE ADVISE!
I am having to add coolant in the reservoir. There is a indicator on the dashboard states coolant low. I don't know where the coolant is going. They're no visible leaks. I have not had a recall for this matter. Recalled are 2014 Ford Escape. They can overheat due to lack of antifreeze. Lack of coolant circulation could cause the engine to overheat and experience a crack in the cylinder head. A cracked head can cause pressurized oil leaks, oil that can leak onto hot engines. There have been reported fires.
Transmission just stopped engaging into gear all together around 85000 miles. Would not move at all. Had to be towed and new transmission had to be put in by Shore transmissions LLC 306 TANYARD rd. Centerville, MD 21617
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COOLANT WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD TO REFILL COOLANT RESERVOIR REPEATEDLY. ON 3/20/21 WHEN DRIVING MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE MY HUSBAND AND I NOTICED A HUMMING NOISE. THEN IT SEEMED AS IF THE CAR WASN'T SHIFTING AND WAS IDLING REAL HIGH. THEN THERE WAS NOTHING, NO POWER OF SPEED OR SHIFTING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, JUST A RED LIGHT CAME ON SAYING TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW. WE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR NEAREST FORD DEALER. TO FIND OUT THIS IS NOT A RECALL AND IT WAS A CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. HE SAID IT WILL COST US $5100 FOR THEM TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION WHICH ARE BACK ORDERED. I ALSO CALLED FORD DIRECTLY ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL, AND THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3 MONTHS!! I FIND THIS TERRIBLE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 5 YEARS AND TAKEN GOOD CARE OF IT AND FOR FORD TO NOT TAKE CARE OF ITS CUSTOMERS ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS I FEEL IS HORRIFIC!!
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while approaching the driveway, the gear shifter lever failed to engage properly and indicated that the vehicle was still in neutral. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact attempted to turn off the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to turn off. The battery was disconnected and the vehicle turned off. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
Lights come on for engine and gas pump while in motion throws vehicle to right at 55 mph when gas light comes one says empty all the time does at stops too slams into next gear shaking car badly with a bang it does often enough at 1/2 tank only or below but does not read more than 1/8 tank from full when filling up at pump all the time
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated while driving at an undisclosed speed. The vehicle hesitated to start with an abnormal odor. The vehicle stalled while parked in the driveway on three separate occasions. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. THERE IS A KNOWN RECALL ON 2014 FORD ESCAPES FOR THE BUSHING LINKAGE ON THE TRANSMISSION, STATING THE CAR CAN BE IN PARK BUT NOT REALLY IN PARK. MY CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND WAS GOING BACKWARDS. TO ME THIS IS THE SAME EXPLANATION. MY CAR DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR IT IS IN.*DT*JB
DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE TECHNICIAN FOUND A COOLANT LEAK. AFTER AN IN DEPTH DIAGNOSIS, THE TECHNICIAN PREFORMED A COOLANT PRESSURE TEST. HE FOUND COOLANT INTRUSION IN TWO CYLINDERS. THE FORD SERVICE CENTER WROTE: RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION TO REBUILT/REPLACE THE ENGINE. THEY PREFORMED COOLANT PRESSURE TEST LEAKING DOWN 10 PSI WITHIN 1 AND1/2 HOUR NO EXTERNAL LEAK. THEY REMOVED ALL 4 SPARK PLUGS, USED A BORESCOPE AND FOUND EVIDENCE OF COOLANT ON TOP OF #2 AND #3 PISTON. THUS THE NEED TO REPLACE THE LONG BLOCK ASSEMBLY. THE SERVICE CENTER RECOMMENDED THE NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT THE SUGGESTED COST OF $8,000. I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL REGULARLY SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE. I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO DO THIS MAJOR TYPE OF REPAIR. WHY HASN'T FORD RECALLED THE VEHICLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM SINCE THIS HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE 2010?
FORD ESCAPE SE 2014 ALL COOLANT LEAKED, CAR COULD NOT RUN, WHITE SMOKE AND NOW ALSO HAS OIL LEAK. THERE IS RECALL 17V209000 DATED 03/27/2017 THAT DESCRIBES WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE YET THE DEALER MENTIONED THAT MY CAR HAS NO RECALLS OUTSTANDING. I WAS JUST LEAVING MY HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND HAD TO STOP THE CAR. ONLY THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE RED "I" IN CLUSTER. RIGHT NOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP AND THEY ARE CHECKING TO SEE EXACTLY WHY THIS HAPPENED. AS SOON AS I KNOW AND GET THE ESTIMATE, I WILL BE POSTING IT IN THIS COMPLAINT. ALSO CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT ANY QUESTIONS HAD TO BE THRU THE DEALER WHICH I HAD ALREADY DONE. CHECKED MY RECALLS ONLINE AND ALSO SAYS NO RECALLS.
IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING SLOW THE CAR STALLS SUDDENLY. I HAVE TO RE-START THE CAR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE RPM INCREASED AND IT STARTED STUDDERING AND EVENTUALLY CUT OFF. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND NOW I NEED A TRANSMISSION. THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION BUT ACCORDING TO THEM IT DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ISSUES WITH MY CAR. I WOULD THINK ANY ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION WOULD CAUSE MY TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR. MY ENGINE CAUGHT IN FIRE FOR NO REASON AND HAD TO GET A NEW ENGINE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE THAT TIME.
CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM'S TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. MY CAR WAS IN PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, MY TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. I HAD TO GET MY CAR TOWED AND TWO MECHANICS SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS DONE. MY CAR HAS 80,000 MILES AND WAS WELL TAKEN CAR OF.
VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD, DIAGNOSED AS TRANSMISSION FAULT BY MECHANIC.
POWER TRAINED FAILED TWICE. FIRST TIME AUG '18 WITH 37K MILES AND SECOND EVENT FEB. ''21 WITH 67K MILES. BOTH EVENTS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DISPLAYS A 'TRANSMISSION FAULT: SERVICE NOW' WHICH RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO DRIVE. FIRST EVENT RANDY WISE FORD DEALERSHIP REPAIRED BY TECH (NAME CHANDLER) OUR SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION. THEY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY; DIRECT CLUTCH REBUILD, REPLACE FRICTION MATERIAL & SEALS..ETC. THE SECOND EVENT: SAME VEHICLE SUDDENLY DISPLAYS A 'TRANSMISSION FAULT: SERVICE NOW.' I RETURN THE ESCAPE TO RANDY WISE (MANAGER MIKE) AND INFORMED US THAT DIAGNOSES (SCOPE) "RECLUTCH FAILURE" CODE. SAME ISSUE. THEY STATED IY WAS OUT OF THERE 2 YEAR WARRANTY AND I HAD THREE OUT OF POCKET OPTIONS TO FIX & NO WARRANTY. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE (ERICA) TO FILE CLAIM. ERICA CONTACTED THE DEALER AND RETURN BACK TO ME IN 5 MINUTES STATING THE THREE OUT OF POCKET COST WAS MY ONLY OPTIONS. NO ESCALATION WAS OFFER BESIDE WIRTING A NOTE TO THE AS CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. I REQUEST THE NAME OF TE FORD ZONE MANAGER FOR SE MICHIGAN AND SHE COULD NOT PROVIDE THE CONTACT. TRANSMISSION FAILURE TWICE WITH LESS THAN 68K MILES. THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE WHEN COMING TO A STOP. UPON TAKE OFF FROM A STOP, IT WOULD HAVE VERY LITTLE POWER OR HIGH RPM'S & MOVE SLOW CAUSING SAFE DRIVING ISSUES. PLACING THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE (FROM PARK POSITION, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD... ROUGH, CLUMPSY THE WHOLE TIME WE HAVE OWNED. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD, FORD PRODUCT ADN FORD AUTHORIZED DEALER SERVICE WORK. THIS VEHICLE IS A LEMON AND SHOULD BE A LAW PROTECTING CONSUMERS FROM SUCH FAULTY FORD PRODUCTS.
TRANSMISSION NOT WORKING
CAR DASH BOARD ELECTRICAL WIRING HAS GONE BAD. ORIGINALLY THE INFORMATION ON SCREEN WAS FADING AND AFTER ABOUT A MONTH NO LONGER SHOWS ANY INFORMATION. FORD STATED THE ENTIRE PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, INVOLVING RE-READING ENGINE MILEAGE AND PROGRAMMING KEYS AGAIN FOR $700. DID NOT GET THAT FIXED AS IT'S NOT A NECESSITY. DRIVER WINDOW MOTOR FAILED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS UP. NOW THE ENGINE HAS BEEN READING A TURBO ISSUE BUT IT CANNOT BE DETERMINED IF IT'S THE ACTUAL TURBO BOOST OR THE WASTE GATE. THIS LEAD TO TRANSMISSION SKIPPING AND ULTIMATELY STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND THEN CITY ROADS AND HAVING TO RESTART CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE IT HOME AND THEN TOWED THE CAR TO LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP WHO STATED TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $4500. ALONG WITH A FUEL LINE ISSUE THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED 2 YEARS PRIOR AND AGAIN UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHY THE TURBO SENSOR CODE IS POPPING UP. CAR IS USED FOR TYPICAL DAILY DRIVING WITH CHILDREN AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE/YEAR BUT NOT ON MY SPECIFIC VIN THOUGH THEY ARE SIMILAR ISSUES. THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE IS MORE THAN IT IS WORTH AND I'M VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THE LONGEVITY OF IT. I DID GET THE RECALL FOR MY DOORS DONE AFTER ONE DAY DRIVING AND A BACK DOOR OPENED ON ITS OWN, COME TO FIND OUT THEY STILL NEED TO REPLACE THE OTHER DOORS.
