THE ENGINE STARTED ON FIRE SHORTLY AFTER I STARTED DRIVING IT HOME FROM WORK.
WHILE STANDING STILL OR DRIVING UNDER 30 MPH,EXHAUST FUMES ENTER VEHICLE WITH FRESH AIR INDICATED ON SWITCH,SET TO RECIRCULATE, AIR SWITCH CHANGES BY ITSELF AND ALLOWS FUMES INTO CAR.
ENGINE STALLS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. LAST TIME WAS SATURDAY 1/19/2019
IN JANUARY 2019 MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND IT WOULD NOT GO BACKWARDS OR FORWARD AND THERE WAS A LOUD WHINING NOISE COMING UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. IT WAS TOWED TO A SHOP WHERE WE WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS GONE BAD AND WE HADN'T HAD IT A YEAR. I WORK IN A CALL CENTER ON BEHALF OF DEALERSHIPS AND I HEAR THE SAME PROBLEM FROM CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE FORD ESCAPE AND FORD FOCUS ABOUT TRANSMISSIONS GOING BAD SKIPPING GEARS SEEMS LIKE WHEN YOU MASH THE ACCELARATOR WHICH IS WHAT WE EXPERIENCED AS WELL THE VEHICLE IS PARKED BECAUSE WE CAN'T DRIVE IT NEED A TRANSMISSION AND WE DONT5HAVE THE MONEY.
2014 FORD ESCAPE 60,000 MILES REPLACED THE BATTERY LOST CONTROL OF POWER STEERING HAD TO BRING TO FORD DEALER THEY SAID IT WOULD NEED TO BE RE-FLASHED THEY THAN CALLED AND SAID IT NEEDED NEW RACK AND PINION FOR THE STEERING AND NEW ALIGNMENT FOR $2200 NOT SURE IF THIS WAS THE PROBLEM IF THIS IS TYPICAL OF THE ESCAPE BUT IT SHOULD NOT OF HAPPENED WITH A VEHICLE WITH THIS FEW OF MILES.
TRANSMISSION BLEW WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING 10-45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. CLONINGER FORD (LOCATED AT 1241 US HWY 70 SE, HICKORY, NC 28602, (828) 615-8653) WAS CALLED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 8-10 TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED SHE MANAGED TO SAFELY PULL OVER THE VEHICLE AND WHEN SHE LIFTED THE HOOD SHE SAW WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY COOLANT AND THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVER HEAT. HOWEVER A FEW DAYS LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (SUTTON FORD 21315 CENTRAL AVE, MATTESON, IL 60443) FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WAS "LOCKED UP AND THE RECALL WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DEALER INFORMED HER IF A FULL DIAGNOSTIC EXAM WAS PERFORMED SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. THE VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY HAD A REPLACED ENGINE 13 MONTHS PRIOR. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THE INFORMATION THE DEALER STATED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
JANUARY 9, 2019 AT 10:39PM MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE CAUGHT ON FIRE. DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 81, GOING SPEED LIMIT 70 MPH, VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND SAID "SERVICE ENGINE NOW". STEERING AND BRAKES DID NOT LOCK UP BUT THE VEHICLE LOST RPMS AND WAS NOT RUNNING AS I PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER, I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE WHEN MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF. AS I STOPPED, I PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED KEY OFF, ALL WHILE IT SAID "SERVICE ENGINE NOW". I TURNED MY HAZARDS ON AND GOT OUT MY PHONE TO CALL SOMEONE FOR HELP. AS I LOOKED UP I SEEN FLAMES COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA AND SMOKE IN FRONT OF MY LIGHTS, I GRABBED MY WORK BAG AND JUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, JUMPED ACROSS THE GUARD RAIL, AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 FROM A SAFE DISTANCE. IN APPROXIMATELY 6-9 MINUTES THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AS I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH 911. TOOK RESPONDERS ABOUT 15 TO 20 MINUTES TO ARRIVE AND TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. AS SOON AS RESPONDERS FINALLY SHOWED, I COULD HEAR BOTH TIRES EXPLODE A FEW MINUTES APART FROM EACH OTHER. ONCE FIRE WAS SAFELY PUT OUT, THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE WAS MELTED AND THE INSIDE AS WELL WAS BEYOND RECOGNIZABLE. I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE IS TOTALLED, OBVIOUSLY, AND I GOT A TOW TO TAKE VEHICLE TO MY HOUSE WHERE THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE IS SITTING IN MY YARD. I FIGURED MY INSURANCE COMPANY MIGHT COME LOOK AT IT BUT THEY DIDN'T BECAUSE ALL I HAD WAS LIABILITY ON IT. I DID NOT KNOW UNTIL A COUPLE DAYS LATER THERE WAS IN FACT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, DUE TO RISK OF ENGINE FIRE.
PURGE VALVE FAIL, FAILS TO START PROPERLY AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK.WAS STALLING AFTER STARTING AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT COMES ON. BAD SMELL FROM EXHAUST.
VEHICLE LOOSES PROPULSION SUDDENLY WITH LITTLE TO NO WARNING. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE THE CULPRIT. FUEL RAIL PRESSURE WILL MAINTAIN 680-2200 PSI FOR LONG DURATIONS AND TRIPS BEFORE RANDOMLY DROPPING TO 50-80 PSI AND STALLING. THIS HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS SUCH AS WAITING TO TURN LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION, SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, OR NAVIGATING A PARKING LOT.
AS I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL ON THE HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED DOWN HARSHLY. AT THE NEXT EXIT, I GOT TO THE FIRST TRAFFIC LIGHT WHERE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED DOWN, AGAIN EXTREMELY HARSHLY. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, THE CAR WAS ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD INTO THE INTERSECTION BUT FAILED TO SHIFT UP, AND WOULD NOT PUT ANY POWER DOWN IN FIRST GEAR EITHER. THE STOPPED MOVING IN THE INTERSECTION. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND TURNED IT BACK ON AGAIN. THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY JARRING MOTION AS IT WENT FROM PARK TO FIRST, AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT. IN THE MORNING, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT, AND I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BURNT AND METAL SHAVINGS HAD COLLECTED IN THE FLUID FROM A FAULT INTERNAL TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE NEW TRANSMISSION WAS $5748.19 FOR A CAR LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 100,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION FAILING WITH NO WARNING IN TRAFFIC.

PURGE VALVE FAILURE. PURGE VALVE WAS EXPERIENCING A LEAK AND REQUIRED REPLACMENT. CAR WOULD SHUT OFF ON ROAD WHEN IDLING. MECHANIC NOTED HE HAS SEEN SIMILAR ISSUES IN OTHER FORD ESCAPES, AND EVEN NOTED THE PART IS IDENTICAL TO THE PURGE VALVE THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED ON THE FORD FOCUS.
WHEN YOU FOLD THE REAR SEATS FORWARD ON THIS VEHICLE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLES CAN FALL BELOW THE SEATS, THEN WHEN YOU RAISE THE SEATS BACK UP THE SEAT BELT BUCKLES STAY BELOW THE SEATS AND THE PLASTIC RECEIVER ENDS GET CRUSHED AND ARE UNUSABLE. WE CURRENTLY HAVE ONE REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLE THAT IS STUCK UNDER THE SEAT AND IT CANNOT BE ACCESSED WITHOUT UNBOLTING THE SEAT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ANOTHER BUCKLE UP FROM BELOW THE SEAT BUT THE BUCKLE IS BENT AND UNUSABLE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
MY CAR KEPT SHUTTING OFF ON ME AND I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND THEY SAID THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO MY CYLINDER HEAD AND I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I SEE ON HERE THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR THIS MODEL DEALING WITH THE COOLANT LEAKING. HOWEVER, THE DEALER CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED. MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND I NEED A COMPLETE NEW ENGINE FOR $9,000 DOLLARS. I'M NOT SURE WHO TO COMPLAIN TO OR HOW TO GET THIS HANDLED BUT I DON'T HAVE $9K LAYING AROUND. I WORK TWO JOBS AS IT IS AND I CAN'T AFFORD IT.
WHEN I PUT GAS IN THE CAR THE WHOLE CAR STARTS TO SHAKE WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON ....I CAN ALSO HEAR THE GAS PUMP HUMMING
CAR EXPERIENCES TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY AT 40 MPH. CAR BEHIND US ALMOST SLAMMED INTO US.
I HAVE TO PUT ALL MOST TRIP THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN MY CAR I DIDN'T USE THE MUCH BEFORE IT SEEMS THAT THE GAS IS LEAVING MY CAR WITH OUT ME DRIVING IT
Back up camera not working. Occasionally comes on for short period of time. Error message sometimes says "camera not available". Sometimes nothing but home screen.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL FAILED TO WORK AND WENT COMPLETELY BLACK. THE DEALER (RICHMOND FORD LINCOLN, 4600 W BROAD ST, RICHMOND, VA 23230) STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V406000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
THE VEHICLE, WHEN DRIVING IT, HAS STALLED OUT COMPLETELY ON A BUSY CITY STREET. WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY START IT. WHEN MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY, I COULD NOT GAIN SPEED, SUV WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO A HIGHER GEAR AND A VERY LOUD SOUND WAS HEARD. AGAIN, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE IN A SAFE MANNER WHEN MERGING ONTO A US HIGHWAY. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME PROBLEM WAS NOTED ON A VERY BUSY CITY STREET. COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND LUCKILY WAS NOT REAR ENDED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSTIC REPORT RESULTED IN INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 68,700 MILES.
STALLING WHILE DRIVING. PRIOR TO THE STALLING, GAS COVER BEGAN TO LOUDLY VIBRATE. UPON STOPPING TO EXAMINE LOCATION OF VIBRATION NOISE, I OPENED THE GAS COVER AND LIGHTLY OPENED POUR SPOUT.. EXCESSIVE AIR PUMPED OUT. THIS HAS OCCURRED 2 SEQUENTIAL DAYS NOW. I SEE A TENTATIVE RECALL IN 2015 FOR A SPECIFIC DATE OF MANUFACTURE RANGE BUT NOTHING ELSE REGARDING THE FUEL PUMP.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS FAIL TO OPEN FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELS WILL NOT STAY ATTACHED TO THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR CAUSING THEM TO HANG ON THE FRAME OF THE DOOR. THE CLIPS ON THE DOOR PANELS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED TWICE ONCE AND THE SAME ISSUE CONTINUES TO OCCUR LEAVING US UNABLE TO ACCESS THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS IN THE VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL THE TRANNY WILL OFF AND ON SLAM INTO GEAR THIS HAPPENS IN ALL ROADS AND IN TOWN AND OUT OF TOWN
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE, WITH A 1.6L GTDI ECOBOOST ENGINE, BUILT IN LOUISVILLE, KY IN MARCH 2014 LEAKS ENGINE COOLANT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON JUNE 6, 2014. I HAVE PUT MY VIN INTO THE NHTSA NATIONAL RECALL SITE AND IT SAYS MY CAR IS NOT RECALLED. HOWEVER, FORD SAFETY RECALL 17S09 SUPPLEMENTAL #1, DATED DECEMBER 13, 2017, AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V209, AFFECTING 230,000 2014 ESCAPES CLEARLY STATES THAT MY VEHICLE, MANUFACTURED IN MARCH 2014, SHOULD BE IN THE RECALL SINCE IT WAS BUILT IN LOUISVILLE BETWEEN FEB 13, 2013 AND SEPT 2, 2014, THE RECALL TIMELINE. MY CAR, LEAKING ENGINE COOLANT, IS EXACTLY THAT DESCRIBED IN FORD SAFETY RECALL 17S09. IN THE PAST 10 WEEKS OR SO I HAVE NOTICED COOLANT ON MY GARAGE FLOOR AND HAVE FILLED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR AT LEAST 8 TIMES. AT ONE TIME THE HEATER DID NOT WORK AND THE RESERVOIR WAS NEARLY EMPTY. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF AN OVERHEATED ENGINE CAUSING THE CYLINDER TO CRACK AND SPEW OIL RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE. I CURRENTLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 39,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. IF THIS VEHICLE VIN IS NOT RECALLED, I CERTAINLY WOULD LIKE A DETAILED ANSWER WHY IT IS NOT SINCE IT MEETS ALL THE PARAMETERS OF SAFETY RECALL 17S09 SUPPLEMENTAL #1 AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V209. I WAS TAKING MY PREGNANT DAUGHTER TO THE DOCTOR AND AND WAS CROSSING TRAFFICAT A LIGHT AND WITH NO WARNING I WAS NOT ABLE TO GO,I PUSHED ON THE GAS AND NOTHING LUCKILY IT WAS GOING DOWN HILL SO I COASTED TO A SHOP WHICH WAS VERY NEAR BY AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION SO I HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMING APART AND WOULD BE VERY COSTLY TO REPAIR
I HIT A DEER HEAD ON WITH EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED BECAUSE THE DEER DID NOT HIT THE BUMPER.
2014 Ford Escape presents with major engine cooling system issues for several years despite regular repair and maintenance to these systems. Heat blows cold unless driving 55 mph or more and coolant needs to be replaced every two weeks during the fall and winter. Engine coolant leaks onto engine block despite regular repair for several years. Serious safety hazard possible due to this.
THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AND CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AT 76,032 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE.
MY FORD ESCAPE IS OVERHEATING. WHILE DRIVING THE DISPLAY PANEL READ: SPEED REDUCED TO LOWER ENGINE TEMPERATURE. AFTER RESEARCHING I REALIZED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS PART OF AN EARLIER RECALL. I CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL.
THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RURAL HIGHWAY. A SUDDEN JERK WAS FELT AND THEN 'ENGINE FAILURE' APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY. THE CAR BEGAN TO SMOKE AND WITHIN SECONDS THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS FULLY ENGULFED. IT WAS LATER LEARNED THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL RELATED TO A DEFECT THAT HAS CAUSED SEVERAL SIMILAR CASES. THIS RECALL NOTICE WAS NEVER RECEIVED BY US, THEREFORE WENT UNFIXED. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WORKED ON BY A CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP SINCE THE RECALL AND THE RECALL WENT UNNOTICED THERE AS WELL.
FORMULA FORD PREFORMED SEVERAL RECALLS ON MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE ON OCTOBER 31 2018. ONE RECALL IN PARTICULAR WAS ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM IN MY CAR, IT TOOK THEM A COUPLE DAYS TO PREFORM NEEDED RECALLS. A WEEK OR TWO AFTER MY CAR HAVING THE RECALLS DONE TO IT A COOLANT LOW SERVICE SOON WARNING LIGHT CAME ON MY DASH. I CALLED FORMULA FORD SERVICE AND WAS TOLD TO TRY AN PUT COOLANT IN IT AND SEE IF THAT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. I DID AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT BUT IN ANOTHER WEEK OR SO THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON I CALLED FORMULA FORD SERVICE AGAIN TO HAVE MY CAR LOOKED AT AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SCHEDULE ME UNTIL 12/13/18 ON 12/7/18 MY CAR BECAME INOPERABLE. I HAD IT TOWED INTO FORMULA FORD UNDER MY ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE THROUGH MY INSURANCE, AFTER THEIR INSPECTION OF THE CAR I WAS TOLD ON MONDAY 12/10 THAT IT HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET DUE TO OVER HEATING BUT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL THEY PREFORMED ON MY COOLANT SYSTEM, EVEN THOUGH MY CAR RAN FINE PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO THIS SHOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE AND ENGINE COOLING WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GWINNETT PLACE FORD (3230 SATELLITE BLVD, DULUTH, GA 30096, 404-418-6877), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,064.
COOLANT LEAK. NO SENSOR WARNING LIGHT. NO RECALL NOTICE. MESSAGE STATED CAR WAS OVERHEATING WHILE IDLING IN A DRIVE-THRU. ADDED COOLANT. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, SAME SITUATION, DIFFERENT DRIVE-THRU. COOLANT ADDED.
VEHICLE STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVE AND ENGINE OIL SYMBOL AND BATTERY SIGNS POP UP ON THE DASHBOARD. TURN OFF THE CAR AND ON AGAIN TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS STARTS OCCURRING ON MY CARS ONCE THE CAR HAS 60,000 MILES. CANNOT REPRODUCE THIS ISSUE. BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ARE VERIFIED AND THEY ARE GOOD CONDITION.
THERE WAS A LEAK FROM THE RADIATOR FLUID INTO THE ENGINE BLOCK THAT RESULTED IN A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THERE WAS NO WARN LIGHT SUGGESTING THAT THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW, WHICH MAY HAVE PREVENTED THE PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN A FACTORY RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SITUATION ON THE EXACT SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE, BUT SOMEHOW MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. HOWEVER, FORD WILL NOT REPAIR IT BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT GUARANTEE THE REPAIR DUE TO THE ISSUE WITH THE LEAK. THEY HAVE SEEN THIS SEVERAL TIMES. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING AN INSPECTION, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE TURBO ENGINE WAS NOT READING THE CORRECT CODE, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FAIL INSPECTION. THE CONTACT CALLED HERB CHAMBERS FORD OF BRAINTREE (LOCATED AT 75 GRANITE STREET RTE 37, BRAINTREE, MA 021847, 781-848-1350) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND THEY WERE NOT SURE IF IT WAS INCLUDED IN A WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE DEALER (GALLIGHER FORD, 650 30TH ST, ELKO, NV 8980, 775-738-3147) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I HAVE HAD 3 RELATED ISSUES SO FAR WITH THE ENGINE COOLANT IN MY CAR - RESULTING NOW WITH A LEAK THAT IS ALLOWING COOLANT FLUID ONTO OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE. MY VEHICLE WAS RUNNING WITH NO ISSUES WHEN ONE DAY IT STARTED BUT IMMEDIATELY BEEPED WARNING THAT THE ENGINE TEMP. WAS TOO HOT & TO SAFELY STOP THE CAR IMMEDIATELY. THE ENGINE TEMP. GAUGE WAS IN THE MAX POSITION, BUT IT WAS A MILD DAY & THERE IS NO WAY THE ENGINE WOULD NATURALLY HAVE STARTED THAT HOT. IN ADDITION, THE CAR WOULDN'T GO. I COULD SHIFT INTO DRIVE & IT WOULD ROLL FORWARD BUT THERE WAS NO GOING OTHER THAN ROLLING. I TRIED LETTING IT SIT & RE-STARTING, BUT THE SAME ERROR CAME UP, THE ENGINE SHUTTERED/VIBRATED A LITTLE, & STAYED IN THAT SAFETY MODE. I HAD A REPAIR SHOP TOW IT & THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD SENSOR SENDING INCORRECT SIGNALS THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING SO THEY ORDERED THE PART & REPLACED IT. SOON AFTER, THE LOW COOLANT WARNING LIT UP, BUT THE SHOP HAD JUST CHECKED THE COOLANT WHEN THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR. A FEW MONTH'S LATER NOW ON A 22 DEGREE MORNING AFTER MY CAR WAS PARKED ALL NIGHT I REMOTE STARTED AND LET IT IDLE FOR A FEW MIN THEN GOT IN & HIT FULL-START, IT GAVE ME THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE (ENGINE WAS OVERHEATED) & WOULDN'T DRIVE. I HAD TO TOW IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AFTER I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM & NOTICED THAT NOT ONLY THERE ARE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BUT ALSO THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6L GTDI FROM TN PLANT WAS RECALLED FOR COOLANT LEAKS CAUSING FIRES! I HAVE SAME JUST 1 YEAR NEWER PLUS OTHER ARTICLES ACTUALLY SAID THE 2014 MODEL WAS INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. BUT, DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR MINE SO I HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM... THEY'RE NOW SAYING ENGINE COOLANT LIQUID WAS FOUND OUTSIDE THE CHAMBER ON THE SENSORS & THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $560 + $119 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR (AGAIN), & IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD. PLEASE HELP INVESTIGATE!
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WHEN PUTTING THE REAR SEAT DOWN IT CAUSED THE SEAT BELT BUCKLES TO GET STUCK UNDER THE SEAT CUSHIONS WITH NO WAY TO GET THEM OUT. NOW THE SEAT BELTS IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEATS CANNOT BE USED SAFELY AS THERE IS NO WAY TO BUCKLE PASSENGERS IN WITH THE BUCKLE STUCK UNDER THE SEATS. THIS TO ME IS A SAFETY RISK AND FLAW IN THE DESIGN AS THERE SHOULD BE NO WAY FOR THE SEAT BUCKLE TO BECOME STUCK UNDER THE SEAT CUSHION ESPECIALLY NOT ON A VEHICLE WITH UNDER 40,000 MILES.
WHILE HAVING TO REPLACE THE COOLANT AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK AND AFTER HAVING 2 RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM, THEN AFTER 10000 MILES AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, IE REPLACE OVERFLOW BOTTLE, SENSORS, ETC. THE CAR STILL IS LOSING COOLANT AND NOW THE "ENGINE HAS REACHED HIGH TEMP PLEASE STOP CAR SAFELY". WARNING IS SHOWING ON PANEL AND THE CAR WILL GO INTO DRIVE BUT WILL NOT MOVE. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN WHEN THIS "WARNING" OCCURRED IN MY DRIVEWAY, THERE WAS NO WAY ENGINE COULD HAVE OVERHEATED AS IT HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN. THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE A DEFECT IN THE RECALL REPAIRS THAT WERE DONE OR THAT THERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM.. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THREE SEPARATE STALLING WITHOUT WARNING EVENTS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION (!) IN THE PAST WEEK, SIMILAR TO MANY OTHERS DESCRIBED ON THIS WEBSITE. ASE MECHANICS CANNOT IDENTIFY ANY REASON FOR IT; MADE ME AWARE OF RELATED RECALLS BUT COULD NOT CONFIRM CAUSE. WHY IS MY VEHICLE NOT COVERED BY THE MULTIPLE FUEL SYSTEM RECALLS FOR OTHER 2014 ESCAPES? THOSE RECALL NUMBERS ARE: 14S30, 15S13, 14S20, 14S17. CAR IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD WITH 56,000 MILES ON IT AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. FORD CORPORATE ADVISES TO CONTACT DEALER; DEALERS ADVISE TO CALL FORD CORPORATE. NO HELP FOR A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. ENGINE STALLED DURING HIGHWAY CRUISE(70 MPH), LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE. LIGHTING, BRAKE, STEERING WORKED FINE. COOLANT LEAKAGE WAS OBSERVED UNDER THE HOOD AFTER PARKING. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER, SERVICE PEOPLE REPORTED ENGINE WIRINGS WERE BURNED OUT DUE TO FIRE.
"TRANSMISSION FAILURE, SERVICE NOW" COMES UP ONLY WHEN DRIVING OVER 50 MPH ON HIGHWAY. IT FIRST HAPPENED ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD. THE DEALERSHIP RESET THE COMPUTER AND I WAS FINE FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER (I HAD MOVED TO ANOTHER STATE) AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT BECAUSE THEY COULD'T FIGURE OUT WHY IT WAS THROWING THIS CODE. THIS WAS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2014. THE CAR STILL DROVE FINE. THEN IN THE SUMMER OF 2018, IT BEGAN OVERHEATING. I NOW LIVE IN THE DESERT SO THIS IS COMMON HERE. I TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE HEAD GASKET, ENGINE BLOCK AND TEMP. GAUGE REPLACED. ALL WAS WELL UNTIL I STARTED DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. THEN THE SAME CODE CAME UP. THE PROBLEMS AND MONEY THAT I HAVE HAD TO DUMP INTO THIS CAR IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE ALREADY SPENT MORE THAN $5K THIS YEAR ALONE ON REPAIRS AND STILL HAVE THE SAME TRANSMISSION CODE BEING THROWN SO I CAN'T EVEN PASS AN EMISSIONS TEST TO REGISTER THE VEHICLE.

HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. 12/6/18 AT 97874 MILES: VEHICLE HAD POWER REDUCED TO APPROX 15 MILES PER HOUR. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN WITH LOW COOLENT CODES. 06/04/19 AT 107000 MILES: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. OWNER ADDED COOLENT PRIOR TO TAKING BACK TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP DID CAMERA DIAGNOSIS OF COOLENT IN THE PISTONS. UPON TAKING ENGINE APART FOUND A DEFECTIVE SCRATCH LINE THAT CROSSES OVER THE PISTON TO THE COOLENT PACK. FORD CLAIMING IT IS NOT COVERED BY RECALL, THEREFORE NOT COVERED AT ALL..
