BOUGHT VEHICLE USED AT 73200 MILES. TRANSMISSION WENT BAD AND REPLACED AT 74000 MILES, UNDER DEALER WARRANTY. CODE READY INCORRECT GEAR. CAR SAID TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. AT 78690 MILES VEHICLE STARTED TO SHIFT IRREGULARLY AGAIN AFTER DESCENDING A LARGE HILL (800+ FOOT ELEVATION OVER 2-3 MILES) AND THE TRANSMISSION FAULT ALERT OCCURRED AGAIN. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO MOVE BUT HAD NO POWER TO ASCEND A SMALL HILL (~50 FOOT). HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER.
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2014 ESCAPE HAS GONE OUT. THERE SHOULDN'T BE TRANSMISSION ISSUES IN A 4 YEAR OLD CAR. WHEN THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE, IT WOULD REV UP TO 4-5 RPMS LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL BEFORE IT WOULD MOVE. IT WOULD INCREASE SPEED VERY SLOWLY. IT WOULD JERK LIKE IT WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE FULLY REPLACED. I SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM OR EXPENSE IN A 4 YEAR OLD CAR. IT IS AT J.O. FORD DEALERSHIP IN GLADEWATER, TX. GETTING REPAIRED NOW.
2014 FORD ESCAPE RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION : I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS CAR IN SEPTEMBER 30, 2017 I HAD THE CAR LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEARS BY ITSELF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM WHICH IS IVORY CHEVROLET. AND I INFORMED THE CAR SALESMAN BY THE NAME OF RONNIE WHO SOLD ME THE VEHICLE , THAT THE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. RONNIE THEN TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT HE COULD DO , BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED . SO I ASKED HIM WHAT CAN BE DONE HE THEN STATED THAT I MAY HAVE TO JUST DRIVE IT UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT , WHICH DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME . ON MAY 22, 2018 I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WHICH STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET , THIS WAS ONE WEEK AFTER I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IVORY CHEVROLET. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPPED OUT OF GEAR THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD , AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. SO I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WHICH HAD A LOT OF ON GOING TRAFFIC . I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR IN THE AND I HAD TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY STATE FARM FOR ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE , TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO RESIDENCE . I THEN HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION USING MONEY THAT I DID NOT HAVE . ON JUNE 1 , 2018 , I PUT THE VEHICLE IN A TRANSMISSION SHOP I HAD TO PAY 1300 FOR THE PARTS AND THE LABOR (WOODY'S TRANSMISSION SHOP) . ONCE I GOT THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION SHOP THE TRANSMISSION IS JERKING AND SEEMS LIKE THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM WITH IT AFTER GETTING A NEW TRANSMISSION REPLACED AND IT'S BEEN ALMOST 3 WEEKS SINCE I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE BACK AND NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON , AND THE TRANSMISSION IS JERKING VERY HARD . I SEEN ON FOX5 THIS MORNING THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. SAYING THAT ONE REASON WHY THE VEHICLE HAD A
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. ALL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AIR BAG DID NOT. I SUSTAINED SHOULDER AND NECK INJURIES. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. THEY FAILED TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY. I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT FAILED TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY TO ME. IT HAPPENED ON A TOWN STREET. FORD SAID THEY ARE NOT GOING TO HELP PAY FOR THE COST OF MY CAR.
I WAS IN A AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT WHEN ANOTHER CAR FAILED TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY. MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. MY SEAT BELT ALSO DID NOT HOLD ME TIGHT IN THE SEAT. I HAD SHOULDER AND NECK INJURIES. I CALLED FORD MOTOR CO. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. MY CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 20-25 MPH, A VEHICLE CUT IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER AND HAND, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE PASSENGER WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000. *BF CONSUMER ALSO STATED DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT FAILED. CONSUMER 'S RIGHT SIDE HIT AGAINST SEAT BELT BUCKLE, CAUSING HER TO SEVERLY BRUISE WITH INJURY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TO WORK IT BECAME VERY CLEAR THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. I COULD FEEL AND SEE THE RPMS INCREASING MUCH TOO HIGH BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD FINALLY SHIFT, CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT JERKING MOTION. THEN, AN ENGINE WARNING APPEARED STATING 'TRANSMISSION FAULT. SERVICE NOW'. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF OF THE FREEWAY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME. I HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, WHICH THEY DID SAYING THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY SHOT. ZERO INDICATION THERE WAS AN ISSUE BEFORE IT FAILED.

ON 7-6-2017- CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE & LOW POWER LIGHT ON. 8-23-2017- VEHICLE OVERHEATING, GOES IN TO LIMP MODE, HIGH TEMPERATURE GAUGE GOES UP. 12-26-2017-TOWED IN AS CAR WOULD NOT START. COOLANT LEAK, QUICK CONNECTOR TO HEATER CORE AND BYPASS VALVE LEAKING. 2-27-2018- CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, CYLINDER MISFIRE, CYLINDER HEAD HIGH TEMPERATURE, LOW ENGINE COOLANT, COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR 3-16-18- COOLANT LIGHT COMES ON, FOUND UPPER COOLANT HOSE LEAK , CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON 3-19-18- TOWED IN- LOW COOLANT AND TEMPERATURE LIGHT ON, NO HEAT , VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. 4-4-18- COOLANT LEVEL LOW LIGHT ON.WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING. 4-19-18- CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. TECHNICIAN VERIFIED SES LIGHT ON, FOUND MISFIRECODES &COOLANT CODE BUT COOLANT WAS FULL, WAS ADVISED TO STOP BACK IN 2 WEEKS TO CHECK COOLANT. CALLED FORD CERTIFIED GARAGE AT THE 2 WEEK DATE & WAS TOLD THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO BRING VEHICLE IN FOR A CHECK. 5-14-2018- CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON--ENGINE MISFIRING, REMOVED SPARK PLUGS AND COLIS TO BORESOPE ENGINE, FOUND COOLANT IN CYLINDER 1, REMOVED CYLINDER HEAD FOR FURTHER INSPECTION, MAP SENSOR CONTAMINATED, FOUND CYLINDER HEAD POROSITY, LIKELY DUE TO OVERHEATING .MY TOTAL IN REPAIRS AND TOWING: $4000+ IN ONE YEAR. FEEL ALL ISSUES WERE RELATED TO RECALL 17V209000 REGARDING THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, WHICH STATED IF THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND DRIVEN WITH AN INSUFFICIENT LEVEL OF COOLANT WITHIN THE SYSTEM, THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD MAY OVERHEAT AND CRACK:

THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT SAW BLACK SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT SAW FLAMES. THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COURTESY FORD WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE RECALL. THE DEALER CONFIRMED WITH THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WERE NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR INDICATOR LIGHTS.WE WERE DRIVING TO MY DAUGHTERS GRADUATION AND WAS COMING AROUND A TURN AND WHEN IT WENT OUT WE COLLIDED WITH A MAILBOX LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED AS WE HAD OUR 4 MONTH OLD GRANDSON IN THE CAR AFTER WE ALL CALMED DOWN WE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT ALL THE FORD ESCAPE FROM 2008 THROUGH 2011 HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH STEERING AND FORD HAS NOT FIXED THIS BECAUSE 2014 VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AT LEAST OVER 1000 COMPLAINTS ONLINE I HAVE READ SO FAR AND I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY MORE.
AT AROUND 40K MILES I STARTED TO NOTICE PULSATING WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. MORE PULSATING THE HARDER BRAKES ARE APPLIED. AT SLOWER SPEED, NEAR STOPPING I CAN HEAR CLICKING SOUIND AS WELL IN THE BRAKES. AT 45K MILES THE REAR BRAKES AND "WARPED" ROTORS WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE FRONT BRAKES HAVE SUFFICIENT THICKNESS SO THEY DID NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. BUT THE FRONT BRAKES CONTINUE THE PROBLEM OF PULSATING / VIBRATION UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AFTER ONLY 40K MILES. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT DANGEROUS AND WARPED ROTORS SHOULD BE REPLACED WHEN BRAKE PADS ARE REPLACED. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH VIBRATION, NOISE AND INCONVENIENCE OF THIS PROBLEM. I DO MORMAL STREET AND HIGHWAY DRIVING.

UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT MANUFACTURER BUT WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.

THE VEHICLE'S GEAR SHIFT CABLE "BREAKS" LEAVING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE UNABLE TO GO INTO GEAR, DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE VEHICLE DRIVE OK THEN PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PUBLIC GARAGE WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER FURTHER STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,337.

THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
LOW COOLANT CHECK SYSTEM LIGHT ON RANDOMLY, DIAGNOSED AS DEFECTIVE WATER PUMP AT 56,000 MILES. WATER PUMP ON BACK ORDER AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR 2 WEEKS, THEN 3 -5 DAYS SHIPPING AND 2 - 3 DAYS REPAIR. I HAVE SCHEDULED A LONG VACATION AND HAVE ALREADY MISSED A WEEK OF IT. FORD HAS AUTHORIZED A RENTAL CAR UNTIL THE REPAIR, BUT MY VACATION DESTINATION IS 11 HOURS AWAY. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A WATER PUMP AVAILABLE WITHIN A MORE REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. IT WILL BE A TOTAL OF 3 - 4 WEEKS UNTIL THE REPAIR CAN BE MADE UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated and shut off. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that there was an air bubble in the coolant. The fluid was drained and refilled. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer where it was diagnosed that the cooling fan was inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was oil mixing with the coolant. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 51,479.
I WAS TOLD IN APRIL OF 2018 BY MY FORD DEALERSHIP THAT MY VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSFER CASE. AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH, I LEARNED THAT THE ESCAPE HAS HAD TRANSFER CASE ISSUES FROM THE MODEL YEAR 2002 UNTIL 2014 YET FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. I HAVE EMAILED AND POSTAL MAILED THE CEO OF FORD WITH NO RESPONSE. I DO NOT KNOW HOW A COMPANY CAN LET SOMETHING AS SIGNIFICANT AS THIS REPAIR GO ON FOR TWELVE YEARS AND NOT RECALL THE VEHICLE? EVENTUALLY THIS WILL BE A $3000 REPAIR ON A FOUR YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THAT IS MONEY I DO NOT HAVE. THE CAR CONTINUES TO MAKE A WHINING NOISE WHEN DRIVING ON ANY TERRAIN AT ANY SPEED.
WAS TURNING TO PARK MY CAR AT HOTEL, TURNING LEFT, STEERING FROZE, GOT "STEERING ASSIST FAULT NOTICE ON DASH. COULD NOT STEER CAR AT ALL. FROZEN, HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED BY AAA TO AUTO NATION, FORD DEALER IN BRADENTON, FL. FIRST DAY OF VACATION. HAD TO LEASE A CAR FOR THREE DAYS.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR USUALLY GOING UP A HILL THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE QUICKLY GOES UP AND SHOWS THE CAR IS OVERHEATING AND ALL KINDS OF WARNINGS SOUNDS AND VISUAL NOTICES GO OFF TELLING ME TO STOP THE CAR AND PARK SAFELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED 2 DAYS AGO I COULD PUT THE CAR INTO GEAR BUT IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND GO FORWARD OR BACKWARD AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAVE IT TOWED.
ROOF LEAK WITH NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE CAUSING IT
CAR WAS OCCASIONALLY JERKING, MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN SHIFTING UP/DOWN. THEN THE "TRANSMISSION FAULT." WARNING CAME ON. TOOK IT TO GOLDEN FORD LINCOLN IN CAMDEN ARKANSAS. THEIR DIAGNOSTICS SHOWED "TORQUE CONVERTER INPUT SHAFT RETURN WAS RESTRICTED AND BURNT UP TRANSMISSION." COST US $4962.62 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, RIDICULOUS! HAVING A TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH ONLY 71250 MILES ON A MODERN CAR IS TERRIBLE.AT LEAST IT DIDN'T FAIL AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY.
I GOT INTO THE TRUCK AND CRANK IT UP AS I WAS LEAVING WORK ONE AFTERNOON AND WHEN I TURNED THE RADIO ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN FOR THE REAR BACK UP CAMERA AND RADIO WENT OUT.. ITS WAS FLASHING WHITE AND BLACK AND THEN BLACK WITH A WHITE LINE THRU IT AFTER IT KELLY FLASHING TURNING RED GREEN ORANGE WITH LIME JUST RUNNING THRU THE SCREEN.THEN ABOUT 10 MINUTES TOPS IT WAS GONE OUT.. IT ONLY TAKES ME 12 MINUTES TO GET HOME FROM WORK AND IT DIDN'T LAST THAT LONG SO TOOK IT BACK TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT WRONG WITH IT. BUT I HAVE NO RADIO AND NO CAMERA. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AROUND NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK AND ONE NIGHT IT MAKE A SPARK AS I WAS SITTING WITH IT RUNNING AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT VENTS SO IT PARKED IT AND CALLED THE TOW TRUCK. QUICK TOWED IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STILL COULDN'T FIGURE OUT A PROBLEM THEY JUST DISCONNECTED THE WIRING COMPLETELY SO I'M WORSE OFF AS FAR AS IT GOES TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM . I DON'T SEE ANY FIXES FOR THESE ISSUES BUT I'VE SEEN LOTS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS PLEASE HELP
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE LEFT LANE GOING ABOUT 74 MPH WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL ON AND USING MY NAVIGATION WHEN THE SCREEN SUDDENLY WENT BLANK AND THE CAR STARTING SLOWING DOWN AND EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN. THE TRAFFIC WAS VERY HEAVY AND I HAD TO SWERVE OVER 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. OTHER CARS AND TRUCKS WERE HONKING THEIR HORNS AND SWERVING AROUND ME. I WAS VERY LUCK NOT TO BEEN INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. AFTER I GOT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART MY VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO. I WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN TO START IT AND WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. I CALLED AAA AND AND TOW TRUCK CAME ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER AND WHEN HE GOT IT IT STARTED UP AGAIN. THE CAR HAS A LITTLE OVER 33,000 MILES AND I BOUGHT IT AS A PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED CAR FROM THE BRANDON FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO.
MY VEHICLES FUEL INTAKE IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. EACH TIME I SERVICE MY VEHICLE WITH GAS AND GO TO START IT UP, IT STALLS AND ACTS AS IF IT DOESN'T NOT WANT TO TURN OVER THEN EVENTUALLY STARTS RIGHT UP. FOR A WHILE THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN SERVICING WITH GAS BUT EVENTUALLY LED TO THE, "IMPROPER" CRANKING EACH AND EVERY TIME I WOULD START MY VEHICLE. IT ALSO HAS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL/SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING (OTHER THAN A SCREECHING LOUD ELECTRIC SOUNDING NOISE FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE) WHILE ACTUALLY OPERATING ON THE ROAD. I'VE CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER, THEIR RECALL DEPARTMENT AND SUCH AFTER LEARNING ABOUT A "FUEL SYSTEM/GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP RECALL" CALLED, "01/09/2015" AND ANOTHER BEFORE IN 2014 BUT THEY KEEPING TELLING ME THAT MY VEHICLE ISN'T SUBJECTED TO ANY OF THOSE SPECIFIC RECALLS AND I BELIEVE OTHERWISE. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE PREOWNED VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GO ON AND OFF FROM TIME TO TIME BUT I NEVER HAD THE FUNDS TO GO AND ACTUALLY CHECK IT OUT AND BECAUSE I WOULD TURN STAT ON FOR SUCH A SHORT TIME AND REMAIN OFF FOR SUCH A LONG PERIOD OF TIME I DID NOT THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL, MAYBE A COMPUTER ISSUE. BUT FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON WITHOUT TURNING OFF WHAT SO EVER AND EVER SINCE THEN MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING ALL THE ISSUES THAT I PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT WAS THE ISSUE AND THE ONLY ISSUE THE VEHICLE HOLDS. I WAS DRIVING ON A FLAT ROAD, TRAVELING 35 MPH AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR DIED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE "WIRE REPAIR HARNESS 3526 CPD" HAD CAME LOOSE. I HAD NOT RAN OVER ANYTHING AT ALL AND THE VEHICLE IS IN GREAT SHAPE, ALWAYS MAINTENANCED BY DEALER, 38,569 MILES. I WAS TOLD MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL BUT ONLINE I FOUND RECALLS FOR 2014 FOR ESCAPE FOR THE WIRING HARNESS. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR BUT I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR ON A 2014 VEHICLE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY A RECALL.
OUT OF NOWHERE A WEEK AGO MY BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN. I HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE ON 3/31 DUE TO THE WIRING HARNESS COMING LOOSE AND HAD THEM CHECK THE DOOR. I WAS TOLD THE CLIPS THAT HOLD ON THE DOOR PANEL WERE BROKEN/MISSING AND THE DOOR WAS SLIPPING OFF. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BEING A NEWER VEHICLE WITH NO BODY DAMAGE AND I SUBMITTED A NHTSA ISSUE 11083236 EARLIER TODAY FOR THE WIRING HARNESS. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP RECALL DEPT AND SPOKE TO MEL AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO TIMEFRAME FOR THEM TO REVIEW CONCERNS, NO WAY FOR ME TO ESCALATE THE ISSUE, NO WAY FOR ME TO HAVE IT REVIEWED BY THE DEPARTMENT THAT DECIDES WHEN THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL (AND THAT THE NAME OF THAT DEPT WAS PROPRIETARY) MY CASE#14515980 WAS GIVEN TO ME BUT THEY SAID THAT I CANNOT CHECK ON OR VALIDATE THAT THIS IS EVEN REVIREWED WITH THEM. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT 1. MY WIRING HARNESS CAME LOOSE AND MY CAR WENT DEAD ON THE ROAD (LUCKILY I WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY) AND 2. MY DOOR COULD JUST FALL OFF WITHOUT A CAUSE. I PAID FOR THE REPAIRS BUT HAVE FOUND RECALLS ON OTHER FORD ESCAPES FOR BOTH OF THESE ISSUES, IT JUST DOESN'T INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER AND I WOULD LIKE IT INVESTIGATED TO SEE IF MY VIN SHOULD BE INCLUDED.
FUEL PUMP HAS GONE OUT IN VEHICLE. AFTER SITTING IDLE FOR TWO DAYS, IT WOULD NOT START TO LEAVE HOUSE. HAD TO TOW TO DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY INFORMED ME IT'S BEYOND THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY SO I HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR IT (EVEN THOUGH THE CAR ITSELF IS NOT EVEN FOUR YEARS OLD). CAR HAS 83,000 MILES ON IT.
BRAKE VACUUM PUMP LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKES. I WAS GOING 70 ON INTERSTATE AT THE TIME HAD TO USE BOTH FEET TO GET THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. LUCKY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC ON THE EXIT BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP RUNNING THE STOP LIGHT.
WHILE IN MOTION ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 75 MPH MY CAR STARTED MAKING A TICKING SOUND. I WASN'T SURE WHAT IT WAS AT THE TIME BUT I KNEW IT WAS GOOD. WHILE GETTING OFF THE EXIT I NOTICED MY BREAKS WERE GOING OUT. THEY WERE VERY HARD TO PUSH DOWN AND IT BARELY MADE MY CAR STOP. I TOOK IT TO A NEW BY PLACE THAT WAS ABLE TO READ SOME CODES. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON AND THE CODES CAME UP AS CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I REPLACED THE SENSOR AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I LIVE. AT THIS POINT IT HAD DIED TWICE ON THE INTERSTATE AND STILL MADE A HORRIBLE TICKING SOUND. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MY VACUUM PUMP HAD COME LOOSE AND THE BOLT HAD GOTTEN METAL IN MY ENGINE WHICH DESTROYED MY ENGINE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND IT HAPPENED VERY FAST. MY CAR STARTED FINE THAT DAY AND DRIVE FINE UP UNTIL THE INCIDENT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AND I'VE READ SEVERAL OF PEOPLE WHO HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I AM NOW HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AND THE TURBO OF MY CAR OUT OF POCKET.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE FOR ABOUT 10 MIN. ON WHITNEY MILL RRD. IN ONTARIO COUNTY NEW YORK. WHEN I GOT AN ALERT ON MY DASH BOARD. IT SAID ENGINE OVER HEATING PULL OVER ( OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES) I LOOK DOWN AT THE TEMPETURE GAGE AS I WAS PULLING OVER. THE NEEDLE WAS IN PERFECT POSITION BETWEEN HOT AND COLD. AFTER I STOOPED ( ABOUT 30 SECONDS AT T HE MOST) I GOT OUT, OPEN THE HOOD AND SAW FLAMES COMING UP IN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND FIREWALL. I INSTRUCTED MY WIFE TO GET HERSELF AND THE DOG OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THEN I BEGAN THROWING SNOW ONTO THE AREA WHERE THE FIRE WAS COMING FROM. IN MY OPINION KEEPING THE FIRE CONTAINED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EVENTUALLY SHOW UP ( GUESSING 15 MIN.) THEY TOOK OVER FROM THAT POINT. SPRAYED FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON THE ENGINE AND REMOVE PIECES OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO GET A BETTER LOOK AT THE FIRE AND MAKE SURE IT WAS OUT. THEN A TOW TRUCK CAME AND TOOK IT AWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY'S TOW YARD. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DID NOT RECEIVE THE NOTIFICATION OF THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING).THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 80,000.

2014 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM - WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN DRY WEATHER ON A CLEAR STREET, WITH NO EXTERNAL CAUSES (BUMPS, ACCIDENTS, QUICK MOVEMENTS), THE CAR POPPED UP A MESSAGE THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. IT WAS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE WAS NO LONGER VISIBLE AND STEERING WAS NORMAL AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY SCARY OCCURRENCE. HAD THE FAULT OCCURRED IN A SITUATION WHERE STEERING WAS NECESSARY IT WOULD HAVE ALMOST CERTAINLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IN RESEARCHING ONLINE, I SEE THIS WAS A RECALL ISSUE WITH PREVIOUS FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES AS WELL AS OTHER FORD VEHICLES SUCH AS THE FORD EXPLORER.
BACKED UP OUT OF DRIVEWAY THEN SHIFTED FORWARD AND MY POWER STEERING GAVE OUT.THE WARNING ONLY CAME AFTER THE INCIDENT. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR .. NO ISSUE BUT WAS TOLD IT WAS ELECTRONIC STEERING MODULE EPAS. A KNOWN ISSUE BUT WAS TOLD THE RECALL WAS ONLY IN REGARDS TO RECEIVING THE WARNING THAT YOU HAD A FAILURE.

I HAVE NOTICED ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE DOORS, BUT WILL ADVISE THE DEALERSHIP SINCE THEY FIXED THEM AS PART OF THE FIRST RECALL.
