JUST AS MY CAR REACHED 61,699 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS. ON MARCH 29, I WAS DRIVING ON RIDGE RD IN OAK RIDGE, NJ AND STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR GOING UP A VERY SLIGHT HILL TO MAINTAIN MY SPEED OF 40 MPH, BUT THE CAR JUST STARTED SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT STARTED ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL AND I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY STEP ON THE BRAKE. THE DIRECTION I WAS GOING IN WAS ON A SINGLE LANE ROAD AND THERE WERE CARS COMING BEHIND ME.THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE OR MOVE. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING BUT NO MOVEMENT. IN FACT, THE CAR STARTED TO GO BACKWARDS INTO THE OTHER CARS BEHIND ME. I IMMEDIATELY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING ANYONE BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD. SOMEONE CAME OUT OF THEIR HOME TO HELP ME BACK MY CAR INTO HIS DRIVEWAY WHILE I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. MY CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP AT FETTE FORD IN CLIFTON, NJ. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN HELP ME WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BEING THAT I WAS ONLY 1,699 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY. IS IT NORMAL FOR A TRANSMISSION TO GO BAD IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE WARRANTY? I AM AN ESSENTIAL WORKER. ALSO, MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP ON 3/2/20 BEFORE THIS HAPPENED FOR WHAT THEY CALL THE WORKS WHERE THEY CHECK ' TIRE ROTATION AND PRESSURE CHECK ' BRAKE INSPECTION ' VEHICLE CHECKUP ' FLUID TOP-OFF ' BATTERY TEST ' FILTER CHECK ' BELTS AND HOSES CHECK AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES. THEY DID NOT PROPERLY SEAL THE OIL PLUG BECAUSE OIL WAS LEAKING OUT OF MY CAR AFTER I LEFT THEM AND I HADN'T NOTICED UNTIL MY HUSBAND TOLD ME. I WOULD THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CATCH ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS VERY BUSY THE DAY I WENT IN FOR THE WORKS AND IT TOOK HOURS TO GET THAT DONE.
WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS....NO ENGINE LIGHTS, THE VEHICLE JERKED THEN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT WOULDN'T MOVE, ONLY ENGINE WOULD REV UP. VEHICLE STALLED ONE TIME AND AFTER STARTING BACK UP IT WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE BUT NO MORE THAN 20-40MPH. HAD TO KEEP PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING TO GET VEHICLE TO KEEP MOVING TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE. WARNING MESSAGE FINALLY CAME UP TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW. HAD NO PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES OR MESSAGES. THIS ALL HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY.
MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE TORQUE CONVERTER IN MY TRANSMISSION EXPLODED AT 85,000 MILES. AAMCO TOLD ME ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND TRAVELLING AROUND 30 MPH. COST $5400.00 TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE METAL SHAVINGS WENT BACK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. VERY DANGEROUS!
CAR ONLY HAS 80,000 AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, TRANSMISSION SLIPPED, RATTLED.
MY CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET. AUTONATION FORD CLAIMED THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WHICH LED TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THEY WANTED $7K TO REPAIR. I TOOK IT ELSEWHERE FOR REPAIR AND WITHIN 1 WEEK AFTER REPAIR THE CAR ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING. I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE BUT HAD JUST EXITED TO A NEARBY RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS MELTED. THE CAR IS TOTALED AND HAS BEEN TURNED OVER TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY, ALLSTATE.
CAR STARTED NORMALLY WHEN LEAVING THE HOME WITH AUTOSTARTER. DROVE TO A GAS STATION, PARKED, WENT INSIDE, CAME BACK OUT AND THE CAR PROMPTED WITH A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ERROR. ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE, NO POWER STEERING. TURNED OFF CAR, RESTARTED AND ISSUE REMAINED. UPON GETTING THE CAR TO A MECHANIC, REPORTED FULL POWER STEERING FAILURE REQUIRING FULL REPLACEMENT OF POWER STEERING RACK AND PIN.
Throttle body and motor was replaced twice due to engine keep stalling issues on the roads intermittently. Had faced life threatening occasions multiple times because the car engine stalled while car was driving on the roads. I brought the car to the local Ford service center several times and got the DTC P2112 code each visit. Ford service center approved the throttle body replacement on 2/10/2020 (car mileage 26688) but the same issue came back a few months later. P2112 was detected again on 4/30/2023 (mileage 40215) It was not very frequent but it happened once per month or every other month. I brought this car once again to the same local Focal service center and they diagnosed the throttle body and motor to be defect again (mileage 46476) and replaced it on 10/15/2024.
TRANSMISSION FAILED ON MY 2016. IT'S NOT EVEN 5 YEARS OLD. NO WARNING OF ISSUES. MY VEHICLE IS REGULARLY HAS OIL CHANGES. IT JUST STOP ON ME AND WOULD MOVE FORWARD.
FORD ESCAPE 2016, WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET MY CAR STARTED SMOKING FROM THE HOOD I STOPPED IMMEDIATELY CHECKED FOR WATER, COOLANT WATER WAS EMPTY SO I FILLED WATER AND I TOOK TO THE MECHANIC SHOP THEY SAID ITS COOLANT RESERVOIR
WHILE DRIVING ON I-95 IN MARYLAND ON 1/29/20 WHEN I HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND REALIZED MY SUNROOF HAD EITHER EXPLODED OR IMPLODED. AS I DROVE I COULD HEAR THE GLASS SLIDING ON THE HEADLINER WHICH FORTUNATELY WAS CLOSED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO WHERE I WAS STAYING AS I WAS WORKING OUT OF STATE (I LIVE IN WELLINGTON, FL) , COVERED MY CAR ROOF WITH A TARP AND THEN TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS. THE DAY IT HAPPENED THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY, NOT VERY HOT AND THERE WERE NO OBJECTS THAT HIT THE ROOF OF MY CAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED, LEFT THE ROADWAY AND STRUCK SEVERAL TREES HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL DUE TO A FRACTURED PATELLA AND BRUISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. JACK MADDEN FORD LOCATED AT 825 BOSTON-PROVIDENCE TURNPIKE, NORWOOD, MA 02062, (781)207-9009, WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,118.
MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE BROKE DOWN ON THE MORNING OF FRIDAY, JANUARY 24TH. NO WARNING, NO PRIOR ISSUES OCCURRED. IT WAS A COMPLETE SHOCK. THE WARNING LIGHT, 'TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW,' CAME ON ONLY WHEN THE CAR BROKE DOWN. NOT ONLY WAS IT SCARY, BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. AS A RESULT, WE HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE ANDERSON FORD DEALERSHIP (ANDERSON, SC) WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR'S WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED. MY CAR HAS 62.5K MILES. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS OF NO HELP. EVEN CONTACTING THE FORD CORPORATION BROUGHT VERY LITTLE IF ANY RELIEF. THERE'S NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THIS IS A FAULTY PART. I'VE NOT SEEN A RECALL, BUT I HAVE NOTICED MANY SIMILAR ISSUES HAVE BEEN POSTED. PLEASE HELP!
FAILURE OF THE SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE. CAR WILL NOT GO INTO PARK OR REVERSE. VEHICLE WAS AT A HOSPITAL PARKING LOT AND MY WIFE THOUGHT IT WAS IN PARK REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION, EXITED VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO THE PARKING LOT TRAFFIC. SHE IMMEDIATELY JUMP BACK IN THE CAR AND APPLIED THE FOOT BREAK, PLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND TURNED ON FLASHERS.
I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN 3 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON TIME WITH EVERY SINGLE NORMAL UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE RELIABLE AFTER I HAD MY DAUGHTER. IT CURRENTLY HAS 86,850 MILES ON IT, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THANKFULLY ON BACK ROADS, I FELT THE CAR SHUDDER WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE GEARS SLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE ENGINE WOULD ALTERNATE BETWEEN REVVING WHEN I WAS BARELY TOUCHING THE GAS, TO NOT GOING ANYWHERE AT ALL WHEN I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. MY MECHANIC TRIED A FLUSH, WHICH HAD IT WORKING LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, WHERE IT COMPLETELY QUIT ACCELERATING AFTER I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. THIS CAR IS IN IMPECCABLE SHAPE OTHERWISE, HAS LESS THAN 90K MILES ON IT, AND IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON IT SHOULD BE NEEDING A COMPLETELY NEW TRANSMISSION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING WAS REPLACED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON TIME WITH EVERY SINGLE NORMAL UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE. IT CURRENTLY HAS 87,000 MILES ON IT, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, I FELT THE CAR SHUDDER WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE GEARS SLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE ENGINE WOULD ALTERNATE BETWEEN REVVING WHEN I WAS BARELY TOUCHING THE GAS, TO NOT GOING ANYWHERE AT ALL WHEN I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WAS A GASKET THAT FAILED AND CAUSED A TRANSMISSION LEAK. AND THANKS TO THE DESIGN TRANSMISSION FLUID IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I CAN CHECK MYSELF.
CAR BEGAN TO SHOW HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING ON HIGHWAY ONRAMP. THE NEXT DAY, TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED WHILE AT A DRIVE THROUGH. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I THEN SHIFTED INTO PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE. CAR VIOLENTLY JUMPED AND THEN BEGAN TO CRAWL. WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY MOVE IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET IT HOME. TRANSMISSION AGAIN DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING CAUSING RPM TO SHOOT UP. WAS ABLE TO PUSH TO PARKING LOT AND GET IT TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS ONLINE OF THIS SAME ACTIVITY AND CARE IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. MOST OWNERS HAVE JUST PASSED THE 60K MILEAGE MARK THAT THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY COVERS. RIDICULOUS - FORD HAS ALREADY HAD RECALLS FOR OTHER YEAR MODELS OF THE ESCAPE AND FOR OTHER VEHICLES IN THE SAME YEAR FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THE 2016 ESCAPE NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THESE TRANSMISSION RECALLS!

NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,100.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE TOM MASANO FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT (1600 LANCASTER AVE, READING PA 19607) WHO CONFIRMED THE OIL LEAK AND THAT THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE AT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
EMISSIONS PURGE VALVE IS BAD/STUCK. TRUCK STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT TIMES. WHEN SHUT OFF TO GET GAS, MUST WAIT 20 MINUTES BEFORE TRUCK WILL START.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the rear wheels failed to roll and were dragging. Additionally, there was an abnormal popping sound heard. The contact pulled over to the side of the road after each failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed several times. The contact stated that the front and rear axles had been replaced by an independent mechanic; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the rear differential had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
STEERING MADE CREAKING NOISE. WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAC AND PINION STEERING HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE HAS 46,000 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN NEARLY 200 REPORTS OF THIS FAILURE.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD ESCAPE SE AND WENT TO DRIVE 15 MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD TO THE STORE. AFTER SHOPPING I RETURNED TO THE CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START. A PERSON NEAR ME OFFERED TO GIVE ME A JUMP. HOWEVER IT WAS WEIRD THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. A LIGHT WAS ALSO FLASHING THAT I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. HAVE BEEN TOLD NOW THAT IT IS APART OF THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM. THEN I NOTICED THE DASHBOARD SAID NO KEY DETECTED. I DON'T HAVE A PUSH START. I HAVE A KEY THAT GOES IN THE IGNITION. I'M SITTING IN FRONT OF THE STORE WITH A CAR THAT WONT START BECAUSE IT SAYING NO KEY WHEN I HAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I STARTED LOOKING ONLINE AND FOUND THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUES WITH FORD ESCAPE AND THERE WAS NO FIX. THAT MAKES NO SENSE. ITS INSANE THAT AT ANY TIME MY CAR WILL NOT START BECAUSE OF NO KEY DETECTED WHEN I HAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO PAY FOR NEW KEYS AND BATTERIES THAT WON'T EVER SOLVE MY ISSUE. WHAT IS FORD GOING TO DO TO FIX THIS ISSUE? REAR VIEW CAMERA WORK WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AS SOON I START MOVING AND THE CAR ( THE MOTOR) GET HOT IS NOT WORKING ANYMORE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BECAUSE THE ENGINE COOLANT INDICATOR WAS DISPLAYED AS LOW. THE MECHANIC FILLED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS. THE OTHER DAY I WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE MY CAR WOULD MOVE. THE RPM WENT UP BUT NO MOVEMENT. FINALLY IN SLAMMED INTO GEAR SO I COULD MOVE AND PARK. UP UNTIL THIS DAY I HAD NO ISSUES THAT WOULD MAKE ME SUSPECT THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD. SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I DEFINITELY NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHEN MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO THE MAN HE ASKED IF IT WAS COMMON IN THAT VEHICLE FOR THE TRANSMISSION NOT TO LAST. THE MAN TOLD HIM YES THAT IT IS A FAULTY DESIGN ON FORDS PART AND THAT THEY ACTUALLY HAVE ANOTHER ONE AT THERE SHOP FOR THE SAME.PROBLEM. I AM BY NO MEANS HARD IN MY VEHICLE AND I DONT FEEL THAT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SHOULD BE SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT IN A VEHICLE THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD.
GOT IN MY CAR STARTED IT UP AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. INSTEAD OF GOING FORWARD THE CAR WENT IN REVERSE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR SHIFT IS IN PARK THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO PUT THE PARKING BAKE ON TO KEEP FROM ROLLING.
WAS DRIVING 55MPH IN CORNER MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE AND STEERING ASSIST FAILURE CAME UP ON DASH AND I LOST ALL POWER STEERING TO THE CAR AND ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT
THE CAR WAS PLACED IN PARK AND THE DASH SHOWED NEUTRAL. THE KEY COULD BE REMOVED AND THE CAR TURNED ON AND OFF BUT UNABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO ANY GEAR SUCH AS DRIVE OR REVERSE. USING GOOGLE AND A YOUTUBE VIDEO I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE OVERRIDE FOR THE SHIFTER AND PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND DRIVE THE ONE MILE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED NO REAL ASSISTANCE OR ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN 'GET THE CAR TO THEM' AND A STATEMENT THAT THE ISSUE SOUNDED 'JUST LIKE A RECALL' - 'BUT THE RECALL IS NOT ON YOUR CAR'. PER THE DEALERSHIP THE SHIFT CABLE BUSHING WAS WORN AND CABLE CAME LOOSE FROM TRANSMISSION. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE EXACT SAME DEFECT AS NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V362000 HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND I WAS CHARGED $258 FOR REPLACEMENT OF A $6.35 PART THAT IS KNOWN TO BE AN ISSUE. THIS RECALL SHOULD BE REVIEWED AND EXPANDED IF ADDITIONAL VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN TO HAVE YOUR SHIFTER AND TRANSMISSION CEASE COMMUNICATION.

AT 84,000 MILES, MY CAR STARTED JERKING AND HESITATING AS IT WAS TRYING TO GO INTO 2ND AND THIRD GEAR...THEN THE REVERSE WOULDN'T WORK AT ALL. THANKFULLY, I WAS ALMOST HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AS THE CAR BECAME UNDRIVABLE. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AT THE COST OF $5,500. I AM NOT COVERED AS THE POWERTRAIN IS ONLY COVERED UP UNTIL 60,000 MILES. FROM THE SECOND WEEK OF OWNERSHIP, MY VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE. I WAS VERY PUNCTUAL ABOUT GETTING MY VEHICLE SERVICED AS I PURCHASED A SERVICE MAINTENANCE PLAN AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND BELIEVED MY TRANSMISSION WAS BEING LOOKED AT DURING THE SERVICE CALLS. I PRESUMED IT WAS MY IMAGINATION HOWEVER AT 121,000 MY VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FROM THE SPEED OF 45MPH. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THAT TIME. THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT IT CLEARLY WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY AS IT WAS NOT MOVING WHEN ACCELERATING. THERE WAS NO 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DID ENGAGE INTO GEAR AND MOVED FOR ANOTHER TWO MILES THEN I GOT THE RED WARNING MESSAGE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW". BECAUSE I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THE VEHICLE(A 2016 MODEL) I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD THE REPAIR HENCE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE OCTOBER 2019 WHEN IT BROKE DOWN. I SAW A RECALL FOR THE FORD FESTIVA/FUSION THAT DESCRIBED THE SAME SITUATION BUT HAVE NOT SEEN ANY INFORMATION ON A RECALL FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL. I HAVE ALSO SEEN COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MAKE/MODEL FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND FEEL THAT IT IS DANGEROUS. NORMALLY I DRIVE THE FREEWAY BUT THE MORNING IT BROKE DOWN I WAS ON A SURFACE STREET. I FOR SURE WOULD HAVE HAD A BAD ACCIDENT IF I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. THIS OCCURRED TO WHEN I WAS DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY, I STOPPED TO CLOSE THE DRIVEWAY GATE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK, TOW TRUCK FEE, FORD DIAGNOSTIC FEE WAS OVER $300 DOLLARS FOR A $7 DOLLAR RUBBER BUSHING. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO THE POTENTIAL ROLL AWAY IF THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL IN GEAR WHEN BUSHING FAILS.

I BOUGHT IT AROUND AUG 1, 2019 WITH ABOUT 30,000 MI. LESS 2 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, IT STARTED INTERMITTENTLY GOING TO LIMP MODE, WHERE I CAN'T ACCELERATE PAST ~1500 RPMS. RESTARTING THE CAR USUALLY MAKES IT GO BACK TO NORMAL. THOUGH SOMETIMES I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES, WHICH SOMETIMES TRIGGERS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND/OR TURN IT OFF AND WAIT A COUPLE MIN TO MAKE IT GO AWAY. IF I RESTART THE CAR, AND IT IMMEDIATELY GOES BACK TO LIMP MODE, I CAN HEAR/SEE THE RPMS GO ABNORMALLY HIGH FOR SEC THEN GO BACK DOWN. WHEN IN LIMP MODE, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT, AIRBNB WARNING LIGHT, "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" MESSAGE, AND "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW" MESSAGE COME ON. IT USUALLY GOES INTO LIMP MODE AT LOW SPEEDS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHEN I'M STOPPING AND SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING, ESPECIALLY ON HILLS. THOUGH IT CAME ONCE ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I WAS JUST SLIGHT BRAKING GOING FROM ~ 70 MPH TO 65 MPH, REQUIRING ME TO DANGEROUSLY PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE TOOTHMAN FORD DEALER IN GRAFTON, WV WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR, AND THEY THE FOUND CODE P2107 ABOUT THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACED. I HAD THAT DONE 2 TIMES WITH 2 DIFFERENT THROTTLE BODIES BUT THAT DIDN'T FIX IT. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER FOR A 2ND OPINION WHILE IT WAS IN LIMP MODE, AND THEY FOUND A CODE ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY CIRCUITRY/WIRING, BUT THEY CHECKED ALL THE WIRING AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ALSO, ONCE WHEN I DID A COLD START AFTER MY CAR WAS PARKED IN THE RAIN ALL DAY, THE CAR WENT STRAIGHT INTO LIMP MODE AS SOON AS I TURNED IT ON.ALSO, ONE TIME IN LIMP MODE I SMELLED GAS BURNING. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP TO DIAGNOSE THE ODOR AND WAS TOLD THE GAS WASN'T GETTING TO ALL THE CYLINDERS. RESTARTING THE CAR TEMPORARILY MADE THE PROBLEMS GO AWAY THESE TIMES TOO.

CAR WAS FIXED AT APPLE FORD IN LYNCHBURG. PART WAS $5, LABOR WAS $75, TOWING $125. PREVIOUS ESCAPE'S HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A RECALL. MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED.
