WHILE IDLING IN PARK TRANSMISSION JUMPED OUT OF PARK GEAR INTO REVERSE, DAMAGING DOOR AND KNOCKING CONSUMER TO THE GROUND. QCAW
RECALL NOTICE #98S-14 WAS ISSUED, AND CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT DEALER WOULD HAVE THESE REPLACEMENT LUG: NUTS AT THE 3RD QUARTER OF THIS YEAR, BUT NO LUGS: NUTS ARE AVAILABLE. WHEN CONSUMER TRIED TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ASKED FOR HELP, THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS RUDE AND TOLD CONSUMER THAT WILL GET IT, WHEN THEY WILL GIVE IT. *AK
DURING WET WEATHER CONDITIONS ANTI LOCK BRAKES HAVE FAILED TO WORK.
PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE CAME OFF. *YC
WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY IN THE RAIN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO A SKID. DURING THE SKID, THE VEHICLE SHUTDOWN WITH NO POWER STEERING OR ABS, GIVING OWNER NO INDICATION. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AFTER VEHICLE SHUTDOWN AND REMAINED ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED. *AK *SLC
LUGS NUTS FELL OFF CAUSING REAR TIRE TO COME OFF OF VEHICLE PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE.
THE VEHICLE'S TIRE FELL OFF WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SKID DOWN THE FREEWAY OUT OF CONTROL. THE TIRE WENT ACROSS THE ROAD STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE.
MY WIFE HAD JUST BEGAN TO PRESS THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN TO GO AROUND A CURVE WHEN SHE REALIZED THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AS USUAL AS ALL POWER WAS GONE. SHE RAN INTO THE WRONG LANE OF TRAFFIC ON A SPLIT OFF ROAD AND WAS ABLE WITH GREAT PRESSURE TO GET THE TRUCK STOPPED. SHE WAS VERY LUCKY NO TRAFFIC WAS ON THE OFF ROAD. AFTER TURNING THE TRUCK SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION AND PUTTING THE TRUCK IN PARK, IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. ON 6/22/98 MARTIN FORD TESTED IT, BUT ONLY REPLACED THE WIRING ASSEMBLY AND DID FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE THEN, BUT NOT AS SCARY SINCE IT HAS BEEN WHEN WE WERE SLOWING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND GOING STRAIGHT SO AS NOT NEEDING TO TURN. BUT REALLY NOTICING THE EXTRA STRENGTH IT TAKES TO STOP THE TRUCK WITHOUT POWER BRAKES. WE LOVE THE TRUCK, BUT ARE GLAD IT IS A LEASED, AND WE WILL BE RETURNING IT IN SEPTEMBER, WE ARE JUST SCARED THAT IF THOSE OTHER EXPEDITIONS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, THERE COULD BE MAJOR ACCIDENTS OVER IT. *AK
RIGHT REAR SWAY BAR BUSHING FAILED, FAILURE WAS NOTICED WHILE TOWING A BOAT. VEHICLE BOUNCED AND LOST CONTROL. SWERVED UPON MAKING LEFT HAND TURN AND HIT A GUARDRAIL.
WAS TRAVELING 65MPH, WHEN RIGHT REAR WHEEL JUST CAME OFF. VEHICLE HIT GROUND, HARD. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD. VEHICLE HAD REAR END DAMAGE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. MECHANIC INDICATED THAT BOLTS ON WHEEL HAD BEEN SHEARED OFF. WOULD NEED TO REPLACE HUB ASSEMBLY/ WHEEL AND TIRE.*AK
STARTED VEHICLE WITH FOOT ON BRAKES. SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. VEHICLE SHOT BACKWARDS AT FULL THROTTLE. ENGINE WAS SCREAMING. SHIFTED INTO PARK & VEHICLE STOPPED QUICKLY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER & WAS INFORMED NEVER HEARD OF PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE THROTTLE STUCK, CAUSING VEHICLE TO INCREASE IN SPEED, RESULTING IN A FRONTAL ACCIDENT, IN WHICH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
ABS BRAKE SENSOR FAILED. *YC
LUG NUTS LOOSENED CAUSING THE WHEEL TO FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN SLIGHT INJURY TO PASSENGER SHOULDER AND ARM. YH
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE A CHILD WAS SITTING ON THE MID ROW SEAT. WHEN THE CHILD STAPPED THE SEAT BELT AROUND HER NECK, PARENTS STOPPED VEHICLE ON EMERGENCY, AND CUT OFF THE SEAT BELT WITH A KNIFE TO RELEASE CHILD. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THEY BECOME HARD, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED VARIOUS PARTS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DEALER IS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. *AK
CAR JACK COLLAPSED AND HIT SHOULDER OF CONSUMER.
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 1997 FORD EXPEDITION XLT HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS. WHEN HE PUT SOMEONE IN THE BACK SEAT THE SAFETY LOCKS ENGAGED AND THE PASSENGER COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND STATED THAT THEY HE SHOULD HAVE THE LOCKS REPLACED AT HIS OWN COST. THE CONTACT FELT THIS WAS SAFETY PROBLEM, IF A CRASH OCCURRED THE BACK PASSENGERS COULD NOTB GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE ON HIS OWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10500, AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105000.*AK UPDATED 03/19/07. *JB
RT REAR BRAKE CALIPER BROKEN AND TORN OUT OF BACKING PLATE AND AXLE HOUSING
TRUCK WAS PARKED AND THE REAR WINDOW BLEW OUT. THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE TRUCK AND THE TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN STARTED UP. WHEN THE OWNER CAME OUT THAT WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HAD EXPLODED. *AK
HAD THE HATCHBACK CLOSED. SHOCK ON RIGHT HAND SIDE PUSHED THROUGH WINDOW & IT EXPLODED. WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. *AK
CONSUMER WAS REAR ENDED BY A VEHICLE THAT WAS GOING AT 35 MPH,SHOULDER HARNESS BECAME INOPERATIVE. DID NOT LOCK, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO HIT STEERING WHEEL, AND RECEIVE CUTS ON FACE. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. *AK
PE98009; INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSION TORSION BAR. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH THE INDEPENDENT FRONT TORSION BAR CRACKED. THE VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED AT DEALERSHIP. PART ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, TRAVELING ABOUT 4 MPH , THE ENTIRE WHEEL ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE IN THE REAR CAME OFF THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *AK
AFTER CAR IS STARTED IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR, MANUFACTURER HAS A BYPASS IN MANUAL TO DRIVE. BUT WHEN SAFETY SWITCH IS BY PASSED IT ALLOWS CRUISE CONTROL TO BE USED. WHEN BRAKES ARE HIT THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT DISENGAGE. DEALER AWARE O PROBLEM. REPAIRWORK HAS BEEN DONE. MANUFACTURER NOT AWARE. *AK

ABS BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED.

BRAKES FAILED SEVERAL TIMES.
VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED WHILE STOPPED. VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL, BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED HARDER BUT IT ONLY WENT TO THE FLOOR.
WAS LEAVING STOP LIGHT WHEN VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. SUDDENLY IT ACCELERATED. PEDAL RELEASED AFTER PUSHING HARD ON IT. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. TOOK TO DEALER & WAS INFORMED THAT THROTTLE LINKAGE HAD TO BE CLEANED & IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
FUEL PUMP AND SENDER FAILED CAUSING THE NOZZLE TO SHUT OFF AND THE VEHICLE NOT TO COMPLETELY FILL UP. NLM
VIBRATION IN DRIVE TRAIN, VERY NOTICEABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN FOOT IS REMOVED FROM ACCELERATOR.
REAR WHEEL FELL OFF CAUSING DAMAGE.
HAD TAKEN VEHICLE FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE & HAD TIRES ROTATED. HAD DRIVEN VEHICLE NEXT DAY WHEN REAR LEFT WHEEL SEPARATED & CAME OFF. DRIVER LOST CONTROL AT 60MPH. WENT ACROSS 3 LANES OF HIGHWAY. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP. *AK
TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FAILED CAUSING VEHICLE TO JUMP INTO GEAR AND ACCELERATED AFTER RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.
RIGHT REAR AXLE BROKE, CAUSING THE FRONT WHEEL TO COME OFF. VEHICLE LOST CONTROL, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.
GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE SYSTEM FAILURE CAUSED RELAY TO FAIL, 4-WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL/TRANSFER CASE FAILURE. YH
VEHICLE DESIGN IS TOP HEAVY WITH VERY SENSITIVE POWER STEERING, CREATING AN OVER STEERING PROBLEM, DUE TO DESIGN FLAWS THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL IN ICE AND ROLL OVER OCCURRED.
TIE ROD AND ADJUSTER SLEEVE FAILED.
VEHICLE SUSPENSION PROBLEMS, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE 30-40 MPH THE TORSION BAR ON DRIVER'S SIDE SNAPPED. DEALER NOTED PROBLEM WAS POSSIBLE MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *AK
ABS CONTROL MODE SOLENOID SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED.
TIRES ARE VERY DANGERS ON WET PAVEMENT. THEY VEHICLE BECOMES VERY SLIPPERY. AFTER THE TIRE HAVE 5 TO 10K MILES. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE TIRE IN QUESTION WAS MADE ORIGINALLY FOR THE FOR THE EXPEDITION BY GOOD YEAR ONLY, AND NOW OTHER MANUFACTURES HAS IT. PLEASE TRY IT OUT AND LET ME KNOW. RIGHT WHEEL FELL OFF OF VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY, CAUSING DRIVER TO CRASH. HAPPENED 5 DAYS AFTER TIRES WERE ROTATED.

ON DEC. 08, 2005 THE WASHER FLUID LIKE BLINKED RAPIDLY AND LOUDLY FROM WHAT SOUNDED TO BE A RELAY UNDER THE DASH. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. THE DEALER ADVISED ME THAT THE TRUCK WAS ATTEMPTING TO START ITSELF. DEALER REP NAME IS GARY WELLS AT BONDY'S FORD IN DOTHAN, AL. *JB

VEHICLE ROLLE DOVER WHILE OFF ROAD. VEHICLE WA SON LEVEL GROUND, MAKING ALEFT TURN IN WET GRASS WHEN IT TURNED OVER, RESULTING IN TWO INJURIES, AND EXTENSIVE PROPERTY DAMAGE.
