ON SEVERAL SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE ENGINE HAS REVVED UPON DEPRESSION OR RELEASE OF THE BRAKES. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY. THE RADIO ALSO BECOMES LOUDER AS IF THE SPEED SENSITIVE VOLUME IS AFFECTED AS WELL. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE DEALER BUT AS THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED. PLEASE HELP AS I FEAR THAT THIS WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
THE VEHICLES ENGINE MISSED, LOST POWER AND MADE A BANGING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ENTIRE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. ABOUT 100 MILES LATER THE BANGING RETURNED. *NLM
TWO LARGE BUBBLES DEVELOPED ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. *MR *SCC THE REAR TAIL LIGHT LENS WAS CRACKED, AND THE TRIM FOR THE CENTER CONSOLE WAS REPLACED. *JB
THE HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE LIGHTS AND THE BRIGHT LIGHTS ON SUV'S ARE VERY UNSAFE. PH
ON EVERY FILLUP OF GASOLINE I HAVE GASOLINE VAPORS INSIDE THE CAR WHICH NECESSITATES MY OPENING WINDOWS TO RID THE INTERIOR OF THE STRONG FUMES. THERE IS NO SPILLED LIQUID AND MY SHOES ARE CLEAN AND ALL WINDOWS ARE CLOSED AND THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING AND THE HAVOC IS OFF. I AM IN FEAR OF FIRE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR MORE THAN 4 YEARS AND HAS BEEN REPORTED OVER 10 TIMES TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT.*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT UNLATCHED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. 2002 FORD EXPEDITION: RIGHT FRONT BRAKE(S) MAKING GRINDING NOISE WHEN DRIVING AND IS EXAGGERATED WHEN BRAKING. CALLED DEALER TO SCHEDULE SERVICE. ASKED SERVICE ADVISOR WHY WEAR INDICATOR(S) DID NOT WORK. SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT FORD HAS NOT INSTALLED BRAKES WITH WEAR INDICATORS FOR YEARS. I TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT A $30K VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE BPS WITH WEAR INDICATORS ESPECIALLY SINCE MY 1992 VW JETTA HAS BRAKE PADS WITH WEAR INDICATORS. I REMOVED THE RF TIRE TO EXAMINE THE BRAKE PAD(S) AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE PAD(S) DO IN FACT HAVE WEAR INDICATORS HOWEVER, THE BRAKE CALIPER IS STUCK WHICH CAUSED THE INSIDE BRAKE PAD TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THIS HAS SCARRED THE ROTOR. *JB
I JUST PURCHASED A NEW 2002 FORD EXPEDITION FROM A LOCAL DEALER AND HAVE JUST RETURNED IT FOR SERVICE. MY PROBLEM IS TWO-FOLD: FIRST, THE GAS GAUGE REGISTERS ON FULL FOR THE FIRST 200 OR SO MILES AND THEN WORKS ITS WAY RELATIVELY QUICKLY TO THE HALF FULL MARK, WHERE IT THERE IS ONLY 3 OR 4 GALLONS OF GAS LEFT IN THE TANK (FORD CLAIMS IT HOLDS 26 GALLONS). SECONDLY, TRYING TO FILL THE TANK WITH GAS, AS YOU WOULD ANY OTHER VEHICLE, IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND TIME CONSUMING. TWO OR MORE VEHICLES WILL FUEL UP AND LEAVE BEFORE I CAN COMPLETE THE TASK. WHEN HAVING AN ESTIMATED 4 GALLONS LEFT IN THE TANK, UPON REFUELING, THE PUMP WILL STOP BETWEEN 11 AND 12 GALLONS, AND ACCEPT ANOTHER 10 TO 12 MORE GALLONS AT 4 TO 6 TENTHS AT A TIME,. BUT GET THIS, THE TANK WILL SHOW FULL WITH ONLY 12 GALLONS IN IT!! THE SELLING/SERVICING DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. I SAY THAT'S WRONG, AND IT'S UNSAFE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO RUN OUT, OR KNOW HOW FAR YOU CAN REALLY GO ON A TANK. (NO IDEA IF THE TANK WAS REALLY FULL) HOW ABOUT THE EXTRA EXPOSURE TO THE GASOLINE FUMES THE EPA IS TRYING TO LIMIT US TO AND KEEP OUT OF THE ENVIRONMENT. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT FUEL GAGES HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME AS WELL AS FUEL TANKS. NOT KNOWING WHEN OR WHERE A VEHICLE (NEW VEHICLE) IS GOING TO RUN OUT OF FUEL IS DANGEROUS FOR NOT ONLY THE DRIVER BUT ALSO OTHER DRIVERS. THE FUEL TANK FILLING PROBLEM IS INEXCUSABLE. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND CORRECTED BY FORD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT. DT
WHILE DRIVING 55MPH ANOTHER CAR HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE IN THE RIGHT FRONTT AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJURIES.*AK
DEALER SAID THE INGNITION SWITCH STICKING BETWEEN START AND RUN WAS THE CAUSE OF MANY PROBLEMS BUT THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LURCHED WHEN AT A STOP. ENGINE RACED AND MUCH PRESSURE WAS REQUIRED ON THE BRAKE TO RESTOP VEHICLE. IF THERE HAD BEEN A STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME - I WOULD HAVE STRUCK IT.*AK
TIRES HAVE BEEN SEPERATING FOR SOME TIME NOW. ORIGINAL TIRES HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED AND ARE ON NATIONWIDE BACKORDER. CONTACTED DEALER REPORTED TO BE ORDERED. HAVE BEEN ON ORDER FOR 3 WEEKS NOW. MY HUSBAND HAS FOUND A DIFFERENT BRAND OF TIRES TO FIT THE VEHICLE BUT THE DEALER AND FORD INSIST ON THE EXACT SAME BRAND AND MAKE OF TIRES. THE BRAND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THE RIDE QUALITY ON THE VEHICLE IS BEYOND HORRIBLE, BUT SO FAR NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURED. WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR HAVING TO PURCHASE MY OWN TIRES FOR A VEHICLE WITH A WARRANTY.*AKY
ON THE EARLY MORNING OF JULY 2, 2005 A FIRE STARTED IN OUR 2002 FORD EXPEDITION. THIS HAS SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE HOUSTON FIRE DEPARTMENT AND 2 INDEPENDANT CONSULTANTS RETAINED BY OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY INDICATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL BRAKE DEACTIVATION SWITCH. THE FIRE DESTROYED BOTH OF OUR VEHICLES AND OUR HOME. THE TOTAL DAMAGES ARE ESTIMATED AT APPROXIMATELY $650,000. WHAT IS MORE CONCERNING IS THAT WE WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE SWITCHES - IN EARLY MAY WE TOOK OUR EXPEDITION TO RANDALL REED FORD IN HUMBLE, TEXAS AND THEY TOLD US THEY HAD REPLACED THE SWITCH. ARE THE REPLACEMENTS AS DANGEROUS AS THE ORIGINALS?
DT: THE VEHICLE WILL TAKE OFF BY ITSELF WITHOUT PRESSURE BEING PUT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE STEERING WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT. ALSO, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL LOCK BY THEMSELVES. THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL SEVERAL TIMES WHILE THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED THERE WAS STILL FUEL. WHEN TURNING ON EITHER OF THE TURN SIGNALS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON. THE RED BATTERY CABLE WAS HOT. THE REMOTE CONTROLLED REARVIEW MIRRORS ACTED AS IF THERE WAS A CROSSING OF THE WIRES. WHEN PRESSING THE BUTTON FOR ONE DIRECTION VEHICLE WENT THE OTHER WAY. CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE COMPUTER /ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY TOLD HIM TO TAKE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. *AK
PASSENGERS WERE LOCKED IN AND UNABLE TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH DOORS WERE UNLOCKED. CAUSE UNKNOWN DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
ON FOUR OCCASIONS WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, AND JUST BEFORE STOPPING, ENGINE WOULD SURGE AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. VEHICLE BEEN TO DEALER, AND DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THERE'S A SQUEAKING NOISE. BRAKE CALIPERS ARE STICKING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH, THE CONSUMER HAD EXPERIENCED A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE, IN WHICH THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK ESTIMATED PROPERTY DAMAGE WAS 20000 DOLLARS. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED THE FRONT-END TO COLLAPSE ALL THE WAY TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. *SCC
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT FOUR DAYS AFTER PURCHASE, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND LUNGED SIDE TO SIDE, THE TIRES WERE BALANCED TO TRY AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM WAS STILL NOT RESOLVED.*YH
STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, AND BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS STOP FUNCTIONING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHEN SPEEDING OVER 35 MPH FRONT END WILL START TO SHAKE REAL BADLY. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH AT A PARKING LOT, THE 4X4 LIGHT IN THE DASHBOARD BECAME ON AND ALL FOUR WHEELS IN THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE BACK OR FORWARD. NO ONE WAS INJURED AS NO CARS WERE BEHIND ME. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF TRYING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE BACK OR FORWARD AND MOVING THE 4X4 KNOB IN THE DASHBOARD, I WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE WHEELS AND DRIVE HOMEW WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SINCE THEN UNTIL I CAN GET MORE INFORMATION ON WHETHER THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I INTEND TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO REPORT THE PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED BECAUSE IF THE WHEELS LOCKED UP AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF SOMEONE HAPPENS TO BE DRIVING BEHIND.
WHILE SITTING INSIDE CAR AT CONVENIENCE STORE WITH THE EXPEDITION IDLING THE NUMBER 3 SPARK PLUG SHOT OUT THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE CAR STARTED POPPING AND HAD TO HAVE THE AUTO TOWED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS DRIVERS HAVING THESE PROBLEMS WITH FORD TRITRON 5.4L ENGINES. HAD TO PLACE A HELI COIL TO HOLD A NEW SPARK PLUG. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WILL START TO VIBRATE AT STEERING WHEEL, CAUSING SOME TROUBLE FOR CONSUMER ON CONTROLLING VEHICLE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT HAD NO REMEDY FOR PROBLEM.*AK
FORD CONTACTED ME TODAY RESPONDING TO MY EMAIL REGARDING MY SEAT BELT THAT HAS BEEN FALSE LATCHING SINCE I BOUGHT IT ON 1/24/02. THE MAN VERIFIED THE ATTEMPTS I'D MADE AT DEALERSHIPS IN FIXING THE PROBLEM, AND THAT THE ONLY THING I DESIRED WAS FOR MY SEAT BELT TO BE FIXED. WHEN HE CAME BACK TO THE PHONE, HE SAID ANY SAFETY WARRANTY WAS VOIDED BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WAS OVER 50,0000, AND THE RECALL WAS FOR 2001 FORDS. WHEN ASKED ABOUT ALL THE PAPERWORK FROM DEALERSHIPS DOCUMENTING THEIR EVALUATION OF THE SEATBELT PROBLEM GOING BACK TO 1/02, HE SAID TO TRY TO TAKE THE CAR BACK THERE. [I HAVE AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL FORD]. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT 30-40 MPH,HAD REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUFFERED BRUISES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 30-40 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AND THEY LOCKED UP, RESULTING IN A REAR END COLLISION, CONSUMER SUFFERED BRUISES. AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. *JG *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD SPLIT OPEN IN THE SIDEWALL CAUSING THE TIRE TO FLATTEN. TS SCC
THE RADIO COMPONENT OVERHEATS TO THE EXTENT THAT CASSETTES AND CDS ARE HOT - NOT WARM- TO THE TOUCH. OTHER BUTTONS ON THE DASH ARE HOT TO TOUCH. DEALER IINSTALLED A FAN BEHIND THE RADIO TO COOL IT DOWN, BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM..IT ONLY REDISTRIBUTED THE HEAT. CLIMATE CONTROL BUTTONS ARE STILL HOT TO TOUCH. FORD SAYS THIS IS "NORMAL" AND THIS IS THEIR SOLUTION. SEEMS LIKE THEY ONLY TRIED TO TAKE CARE OF SYMPTOM, NOT SOLVE A PROBLEM. ALSO, BECAUSE FAN IS SILENT, WE WON'T KNOW IF FAN MALFUNCTIONS UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE. SOMETHING'S LIABLE TO MELT.*AK
2003 EXPEDITION LEAKED WATER INSIDE VEHICLE. THE OUTSIDE MOLDING OF THE WINDSHIELD CAME OFF. *TS THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE HEAD LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTING AND RADIO ALL WENT OUT DUE TO THE LEAKING WATER WHICH WAS AFFECTING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE DOORS RATTLED. *JB
CONSUMER STATED 3 OF THE 4 TIRES TIRES ON THE VEHICLE INCLUDING THE SPARE STATES THE TIRE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 44 PSI, WHERE AS THE OTHER TIRE STATES 33 PSI, CONSUMER HAS REQUESTED INFORMATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER AS TO WHAT IS THE CORRECT TIRE PRESURE AND HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL.(GOODYEAR WRANGLER RT/S P25570R16 109S)*JB
EXPEDITION BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE ON DRY, FLAT, PAVEMENT. "FISH TAILING" UNTIL GOING IN A DITCH. BRAKES WERE NOT RESPONDING; AND STEERING WAS IRRADICT.*AK
ONE OF THE FOUR TIRES HAD LOWER PRESSURE MARKINGS AND THE CONSUMER BELIEVES IT WAS POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. (GOODYEAR WRANGLER RT/S P255/70R16). *YH

WHILE DRIVING, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT AT THE SIDEWALL.GENERAL ,GRABBER AW, P275/60R17, DOT- ADT044T4201, AND 24,016 MILES ON ORIGINAL TIRES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH DRIVER FELT VIBRATION IN THE RIGHT REAR OF THE VEHICLE. RECALL 02T0120000. *AK
