FORD EXPEDITION 2003 FRONT BRAKES AND BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS VISIBLE DUSTING, DIFFICULTY STOPPING AND BRAKE CHATTER. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO INCREDIBLY HIGH AND OVERHEATING FROM THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS, THE PROBLEM WAS SO BAD THAT THE ROTORS WELDED TO THE RIMS. *JB
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT FUEL TANK LEAKING FUEL WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE TANK HAD A CRACK THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE RUNNING OVER A ROCK. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. ABS BRAKING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINE DTHAT THE ABS BRAKE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
DT: THE DRIVERS SIDE TIE ROD HAS BROKEN TWICE. BOTH TIMES WAS WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER HAS FIXED IT ONCE AND NOW IT IS BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME FOR SAME PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK INFORMATION FROM THE CONSUMER, BUT SHE HAS NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM. *JB PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW DOES NOT GO DOWN FROM MASTER SWITCH. DOOR AJAR LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF. LEFT FRONT BALL JOINT SEPARATED, THEN VEHICLE HIT SIGN. LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKEN, UPPER BALL JOINT BAD, SPINDLE BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK BROKEN, CV BOOT TORN AND AXLE PULLED OUT OF FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. TIE ROD END ON LEFT SIDE BROKEN AND VACUUM HUB CRACKED ON SPINDLE AND TIRE AND RIM DAMAGED. ALSO FENDER LINER RIPPED OUT. SPINDLE, UPPER CONTROL ARM, LOWER CONTROL ARM, CV BOOT REPLACED. CLIP FOR AXLE VACUUM HUB AND WHEEL AND TIRE, REMOVED FRONT DIFFERENTIAL TO REINSTALL, AXLE AND CLIP REPLACED WHEEL AND TIRE AND PERFORMED ALIGNMENT. DAMAGE TO HOOD WHEN KNUCKLE SPLIT. *TT *SB
DT: THE CONTACT SAYS THAT HIS ENGINE IS STALLING AT ANYWHERE FROM 45-70MPH. THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE HE IS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THERE IS NO PRIOR WARNING TO THE FAILURE. THE ENGINE JUST COMPLETLY SHUTS OFF. IT TAKES IT A COUPLE OF MINUTES AFTER THE FAILURE FOR HIS ENGINE TO START UP AGAIN. THE ENGINE IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND IT HAS DONE THIS TO HIM AT LEAST TEN TIMES. HAS CAME VERY CLOSE TO HAVING ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE HE HAS KNOW WARNING TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD.*AK
2003 EXPEDITION XLT FRONT DOOR LOCKS, PINCH THE MY ARM , WITH MY ARM RESTING ON THE WINDOW LEDGE, THE DOOR LOCKS ENGAGE AS THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO MOVE.......THE PINCH IS SO SEVERE THAT IS LEAVES A BRUISE FOR SEVERAL DAYS
I PARKED MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION IN MY DRIVEWAY. I PUT IT IN PARK AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AS I WENT TO OPEN MY DOOR I TURNED TO SEE THE TRUCK ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. IT HIT MY NEIGHBOR'S TRUCK AND WHEN I GOT TO THE TRUCK, IT WAS STILL IN PARK. AFTER HAVING THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SEVERAL DAYS I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I ASKED FOR A FORD REP TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE BUT WITH NO SUCCESS. THE PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN HELPFUL HOWEVER THEY ARE RUNNING UP AGAINST A BRICK WALL AS WELL.THE OWNER AND SERVICE MANAGER WERE TOLD BY FORD THAT AN INDEPENDENT ENGINEER WOULD BE SENT OUT TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK. WHEN I CALLED I WAS TOLD THE NOTES STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FURTHER ACTION NECESSARY BY FORD.*AK
BRAKE SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE PADS TO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. MANUFACTURER HAD AN UPDATE KIT THAT COST $233.00 PLUS LABOR. THE UPDATE KIT HAS A DIFFERENT BRAKE PAD MATERIAL THEN THE ONE FROM THE FACTORY. THE FACTORY BRAKE PAD WORE THROUGH THE ROTORS EXTREMELY FAST AND DAMAGED THE ROTORS.*AK
MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITON JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE WHILE IDLEING ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, AFTER APPROXIMATELY 12 MINUTES, WENT IN REVERSE , AND STRUCK A HOUSE. I RAN AFTER THE EXPEDITION, AS IT ONLY GAINED SPEED, TOWARDS THE HOUSE, AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO CATCH THE VEHICLE WITHOUT BEING INJURED MYSELF. *LA
THERE WAS EXCESSIVE TREAD WEAR AND EXPOSED STEEL BELTS ON THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE SHOWED EXACTLY THE SAME SIGNS. HAD TO PURCHASE TWO NEW TIRES AFTER 16K MILES.*AK
EXCESSIVE WEARING OF ROTORS AND PADS. FRONT (RIGHT & LEFT) BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO REPLACED AS WELL AS ROTORS AT 25,000 MILES. CAR IS NOT DRIVEN HARD. FORD SERVICE CENTER(MAGUIRE'S FORD OF HERSHEY, PA) STATED THAT THERE WAS STILL PADDING LEFT AND THAT THERE WAS NO METAL CONTACT WITH ROTORS, BUT THE ROTORS WERE WORN TO 1.1 ICKNESS(FL) AND 1.09(FR). I AM HAVING SPECS ON ROTORS INDEPENDANTLY VERIFIED.*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE CHECKED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO DUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO OUTSIDE SOURCES WHO CONCLUDED THAT THE BRAKES WERE BAD AND THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER HAS ALSO REPLACED THE STEERING RACK, SEAT MOTOR AND AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK. *NM
CAR STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING A SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS. THE DEALER CANNOT CORRECT PROBLEM UNTIL IT IS REPRODUCED. *AK
THIS IS TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THE CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TR TIRES THAT CAME STANDARD ON THE 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. THE FOLLOWING IS A COPY OF AN EMAIL THAT I SENT TO THE CONTINENTAL CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I THINK THAT HAS ALL OF THE INFORMATION YOU WILL NEED TO START LOOKING INTO THIS PROBLEM. I THINK IT IS QUITE ASTOUNDING AND WILL WARRANT SOME MAJOR ATTENTION FROM THE POWERS THAT BE. NOT ONLY IS THE DAMAGE TO MY TIRES A MANUFACTURER DEFECT BUT THE DAMAGE IS IN ALL OF MY TIRES, INCLUDING ONE THAT WAS REPLACED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. THE OTHER ORIGINAL THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED MAY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM SINCE IT HAD A GASH IN THE SIDE THAT CAUSED IT TO GO FLAT. AFTER TALKING WITH YOU I HAPPENED TO MENTION MY PROBLEM TO A NEIGHBOR WHO ASKED ME TO HAVE HER HUSBAND LOOK AT IT. AS IT TURNS OUT HE HAD BEEN A PLANT SUPERVISOR FOR KELLEY-SPRINGFIELD TIRES BEFORE MOVING UP TO THIS AREA. HE KNOWS ALL ABOUT TIRE MANUFACTURING AND TESTING. HE TOOK ONE LOOK AT MY TIRE AND SAID "THERE IS NO WAY THAT WAS CAUSED BY A RAZOR, THAT IS A DEFECT AND IT IS BAD NEWS." HE TOLD ME TO LET WHOMEVER I TALKED TO KNOW THAT THE TIRE IS SEPARATING "WHERE THE APEX MEETS THE SIDEWALL." HE WENT INTO A BIT MORE TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION BUT I AM NOT AN EXPERT SO I CAN'T ACCURATELY RELAY WHAT HE SAID. HE SAID IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND HE BETS THAT A MAJOR RECALL WILL BE OCCURRING, HOPEFULLY BEFORE ANYTHING TRAGIC OCCURS. HE IS NOT AN OVERLY EXCITABLE MAN BUT HE PROBABLY TOLD ME ABOUT 10 TIMES TO GET THE TIRES OFF OF MY CAR.*AK
2003 EDDIE BAUER EXPEDITION - WE HAVE THE DVD PLAYER WHICH WAS ALREADY IN PLACE WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE SCREEN IS DOWN, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT THE BACK WINDOW. I DON'T SEE HOW THIS CAN BE LEGAL, AS IT BLOCKS THE DRIVERS VIEW FROM APPROACHING EMERGENCY VEHICLES, AS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME THE OTHER DAY WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN.*AK
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE WORN OUT PARTS. *AK THE BRAKE PADS REDUCED BRAKE ROTOR THICKNESS BELOW MINIMUM SAFE THICKNESS FOR NEW PADS. THE AVERAGE BRAKE PAD LIFE WAS 12K TO 81K MILES. IF THEY ARE NON FORD PADS, ROTOR FAILURE WOULD OCCUR IN AS LITTLE AS 3K MILES. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A WRITTEN AGREEMENT TO REFUNDED THE MONIES PAID FOR THIS DEFECT AND TO COVER ALL FUTURE COSTS OF ABNORMAL REPLACEMENTS. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE. *LA THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT IT LOOKED AS IF A PIECE OF CARDBOARD WAS WEDGED BETWEEN THE MUFFLER AND THE CHASSIS TO STOP A VIBRATION. THIS WAS NOT ACCIDENTAL. FORD CLAIMED TO BE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. *SC *JB
THE DASHBOARD CONSOLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF THE VEHICLE BEING PARKED AND TURNED OFF. AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE TWO CHARGERS WERE PLUGGED INTO THE LIGHTER OUTLET AND THEY BOTH MELTED. *AK
2003 FORD EXPEDITION WITH AROUND 17000 MILES. BRAKES ARE NOT RIDDEN. FRONT BRAKE PADS WORE OUT. FROM THE DEALERSHIP (MOSSY FORD, SAN DIEGO), "FORD HAS REDESIGNED THE BRAKE PADS AND WE NEED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR PADS." I ASKED IF THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW WITH USING LOW QUALITY PADS ON THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMMENT. I ASKED IF THIS HAS BEEN SEEN BEFORE. NO ANSWER WAS GIVEN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS A REPEATING THEME. IT SOUNDS PRETTY SUSPICIOUS.*AK
THE VEHICLE HAD DEAD BATTERY AND REQUIRED JUMP START. THE ATTEMPT WAS SUCCESSFUL HOW EVER I BEGAN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS AND ODOMETER DISPLAY MALFUNCTIONED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, INCLUDING JUMPS IN MILEAGE OR NO CHANGE AFTER A TRIP, RADIO WOULD GO OFF OR CHANGE STATIONS BY ITS SELF, DOOR LOCKS WOULD UNLOCK AND LOCK BYSELF,AND INSTRUMENTS NOT WORKING. THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER MOUNTED NEXT TO THE ASHTRAY IN THE DASH SOME HOW BECAME WELDED IN PLACE. ON OCCASION WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AS YOU PUT KEY IN IGNITION YOU WOULD HEAR THE DOOR CHIME AS NORMAL THEN WHEN YOU TURN KEY TO START POSITION CHIME WOULD DIE AND NOTHING HAPPENED THEN RETURN THE KEY TO OFF AND BACK TO START AND IT WOULD START FINE ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE RADIO BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY WHERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. I CONTINUED TO HAVE THE PROBLEM AND IT JUST SEEMED TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY. *NM
WHILE PULLING OUT THE DRIVEWAY AND TURNING TO LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT STATED, AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS WHITE MARK ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE AND IT WAS MADE WHEN THE CONSUMER HIT THE CURVE. *AK THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO CURB TO HIT AND THAT NO COLLISION OCCURRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURERS WERE WILLING TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY. THE CONSUMER'S HAD TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG THEMSELVES. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED TEMPORARY HEARING LOSS AND RINGING IN THE EARS. *NM

2003 FORD EXPEDITION . FORD INFORMS ME AFTER ONLY 30,000 MILES THE TYPES OF BRAKE PADS USED DESTROYED THE ROTORS; MUST BUY NEW ROTORS AND PURCHASE THE NEWLY DESIGNED FORD BRAKE PADS WITH SPECIAL SPRINGS AND SUCH TO PREVENT THE FUTURE PROBLEMS WITH PADS THAT EAT ROTORS. BUT , THIS FORD DOES NOT CONSIDERED THIS TO BE DEFECTIVE. TOTAL COST FOR BRAKES ONLY - $ 909.00. *AK
2003 FORD EXPEDITION- AFTER IT RAINS I AM HAVING MANY DIFFERENT THINGS HAPPENING WITHIN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE DOORS WON'T LOCK, THE RADIO WON'T LIGHT UP ANY MORE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T SHUT OFF, THE FRONT WINDOWS WON'T WORK, MILDEW SMELL IN THE CAR. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ALONE CAN CAUSE A FIRE BUT WITH THE DOORS NOT BEING ABLE TO BE LOCKED IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY AND I AM CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY. I HEARD FROM THE DEALER AND OTHERS THAT FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TWICE IN MY FORD EXPLORER, FIRST AT ABOUT 2500 AND NOW, AFTER A REBUILT ENGINE WAS INSTALLED, AT 205,000. AS WELL, I HAVE HAD DIFFERENTIAL PROBLEMS, MOON ROOF ISSUES, PAINT ISSUES, CRACKED HEAD, ETC. *JS
MY BRAKES HAVE WORE DOWN VERY QUICKLY AND UNEVENLY SO I TRIED TO REPLACE MY BREAK PADS AND WHEN I REMOVED THE OLD PAD AND REPLACED THE NEW PAD THE CALIPER WON'T GO BACK INTO PLACE. AS IF IT'S STUCK. AND PRIOR TO CHANGING MY PADS AND MY BRAKES WEARING DOWN, I'VE ALWAYS HAD A LOUD SCRAPING SOUND DOWN NEAR MY BRAKE, ESPECIALLY WHEN EVER I TURN LEFT. I CHECKED WITH SEVERAL LOCAL AUTO PART DEALERS AND THEY SAID THEY'RE ALL SOLD OUT OF BRAKES DUE TO THAT PROBLEM. THEY HAVE BEEN HEARING A LOT OF THE SAME COMPLAINT. IN ADDITION, THERE HAS ALWAYS BE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF BRAKE DUST THAT ACCUMULATES VERY QUICKLY,(OVER 6HRS). *JB
FRONT BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 20,000; WORN DOWN TO ZERO MM. CHECKED THREE MONTHS EARLIER AND THEY WERE AT 4MM AND TOLD THEY "MIGHT" NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE NEXT SERVICE. ROTORS HAD TO BE SANDED. EXCESSIVE BLACK BRAKE DUST ON FRONT WHEELS, DUST ALSO EVIDENT ON BACK WHEELS. *NM
I TURNED THE CORNER AND THE WHOLE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. I STOPPED RIGHT AWAY AND LOOKED AROUND. MOST OF THE GLASS HAD SHATTERED OUTSIDE THE EXPEDITION. THERE WAS NO ROCK OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT HIT IT. AS A MATTER OF FACT, THE CORNER I TURNED AT, THERE WAS A METRO POLICE OFFICER THERE BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT IN THE MIDDLE THERE. MY CHILDREN WHERE SCARED AND CRYING BUT THERE WAS NO GLASS ON THEM. THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK THE 2003 FORD EXPEDITION DOWN TO FRIENDLY FORD AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED.
REAR HATCHBACK PAINT BUBBLING FOR THE SECOND TIME. IT WAS REPAINTED AFTER 1 YEAR AND NOW IS DOING THE SAME THING.*AK
WHILE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT THE DRIVER AIR BAG DEPLOYED IN MY 2003 EXPEDITION. I HIT NOTHING AND NOTHING HIT ME. I CALLED FORD THEY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER WHO TOLD ME HE COULDN'T REPLACE THE BAG FOR THREE DAYS. I COULD EITHER STAY IN TEXAS OR CUT THE AIR BAG OFF AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANOTHER EIGHT HUNDRED MILES TO HOME. I CARRIED IT TO A DEALER IN BIRMINGHAM AND THEY KEPT IT FOR THREE WEEKS. I'M STILL NOT SURE WHY THE BAG DEPLOYED. WHEN THE BAG DEPLOYED IT HIT ME SO HARD IT INJURED MY LEFT ARM AND MY NECK, I HAD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR AND AM STILL TAKING ANTI INFLAMMATORY MEDICINE. *NM

WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR RATTLED. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THAT THE DOOR WOULD BE REPLACED. CONSUMER WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. *AK
WHEN CHANGING A FLAT TIRE (ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS) ONE OF THE BOLTS THAT SECURES THE LUG NUTS WHICH HOLDS THE TIRE ONTO THE AXLE BROKE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE BOLTS ARE WEAK AND WILL BREAK WHILE DRIVING. IS THIS A COMMON OCCURRENCE?. *AK
WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WERE REPLACED AT 5,000 MILES(5-21-2003). AT 15,000 MILES MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN, IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL AND IT WAS JUST THE BRAKE SYSTEM CHECKING ITSELF. I WILL BE BUYING A NEW CAR AND YOU CAN BE SURE IT WILL NOT BE A FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*AK
CONTINENTAL TIRES, SIZE P265/70R15; WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. *AK
MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION XLT WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND GOT IN. I STARTED THE CAR AND THEN TRIED TO ROLL DOWN THE ELCTRIC WIDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. AS SOON AS THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED, THE WINDOW EXPLODED, COVERING ME WITH GLASS PIECES.*AK

TRANSMISSION POPPED OUT OF PARK WHILE IDLING ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND STRUCK A LIGHT POLE. THIS WAS A MARKED POLICE UNIT.
WHILE MAKING A STOP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK WHEN STOPPING, THE MOTOR STARTS SHAKING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF. WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT RESPOND UNTIL ATTEMPTING 2 OR 3 TIMES, THEN FINALLY A LOT OF SMOKE APPEARS. THE SUSPENSION APPEARED TO BE LOOSE AND ONE SENSOR ON THE WHEELS DID NOT RESPOND. *SC
2003 EXPEDITION SHAKES WHILE TRAVELING, WITH THE SHAKE/VIBRATION INCREASING AS SPEED INCREASES, AND BECOMES SEVERE. HAVE HAD TO DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW, BUT CONTINUES. IN SEARCHING ONLINE, THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, AND APPEARS TO BE LINKED TO THE CONTINENTAL TIRES. BETWEEN THE SHAKE IN THE VEHICLE AND UNKNOWN WHAT IS OCCURRING TO TIRES AS THE VEHICLE TRAVELS AND SHAKES, I WOULD THINK THERE IS A RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE TIRES THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS. 2003 FORD EDDIE BAUER EXPEDITION: 3 INCIDENCES WHERE WHEN STOPPING , ONCE IN LINE AT MCDONALDS AND TWICE WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE MOTOR ACCELERATES AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING FORWARD. DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE OVER 3 WEEKS AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM-THEIR CONTENTION IS THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. I REFUSE TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. IF THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE AND TAKE THIS ONE TO ENGINEERS TO RESEARCH SAFETY HAZARD. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 9,000 MILES IT IS STILL A NEW VEHICLE. *AK
#1 NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY #2 CAR HAD BE PARKED FOR ALMOST AN HOUR WHEN A PASSERBY KNOCKED ON THE DOOR TO SAY THAT THE CAR WAS ON FIRE AND SHE HAD ALREADY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. #3 FIRE WAS PUT OUT. CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. ALSO, THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF MINE WAS BURNED WHEN THE FIRE SPREAD AND THAT CAR WAS TOTALLED AS WELL. IT BELONGED TO MY FRIEND, OLIVIA JACKSON OKE, WHOM I WAS VISITING AND MY CAR WAS PARKED DIRECTLY BEHIND HERS IN HER DRIVEWAY. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND SO DID OLIVIA.
WITHIN 1,000 MILES THE BACK UP SENSOR RANG WHEN EVER YOU PUT THE CAR INTO RESERVE - HAS BEEN SERVICED THREE TIMES STILL DOES IT TODAY. WITHIN 5,000 THE MIRRORS WOULD TILT TOO FAR TO THE OUTSIDE THEN POP AS THEY TRIED TO CONTINUE TO MOVE FURTHER OUTSIDE. WITHIN 18,000 1)ADVANCETRAC LIGHT CAME CAUSE THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE TO LOCK UP WHEN TURNING LEFT AND THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE TO LOCK UP WHEN TURNING RIGHT. ENGINE WAS SHUTTING DOWN GOING TRAVELING AT 70 MPH. TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE OUT TO NEXT GEAR UNTIL VERY HIGH RPM. POP AND CLICKING NOISES FROM UNDER THE DASH (FRONT PASSANGER AND DRIVE SIDE). ENGINE WOULD NOT START. - AUTHORIZED FORD BLUE OVAL REPAIR CENTER HAS REPLACED 2 ABS MODULES, THE BATTERY, MADE REPAIRS TO THE WIRING HARNESS, REPLACED TWO OTHER COMPUTER MODULES. CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THREE WEEKS AND RETURNED THREE TIMES. VEHICLE IS STILL NOT CORRECT.
DURING A RECENT TRIP TO DENVER, THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED BELOW 20 DEGREES AND THE BACK-UP WARNING BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING. AT THE SAME TIME, THE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ALTHOUGH I CYCLED THE SWITCH, THE SYSTEM WOULD NOT COME ONLINE. THE BACK-UP WARNING SYSTEM EITHER EMITTED A CONSTANT TONE, EVEN THOUGH NOTHING WAS BEHIND ME OR I COULD GET RIGHT NEXT TO SOMETHING AND IT FAILED TO ALARM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE IT IS AN INTERMITTANT PROBLEM THAT ONLY OCCURS WHEN IT IS COLD, THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO, AS THEIR SHOPS ARE HEATED TO ABOUT 68 DEGREES. THIS VEHICLE ALSO EXPERIENCES PROBLEMS WITH THE SIDE MIRRORS MOVING OF THEIR OWN ACCORD. THE DIRECTION IS NOT ISOLATED TO A SINGLE DIRECTION. SOMETIMES THEY MOVE UP AND OTHER TIMES DOWN. MOSTLY WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED IN BOTH. IN SOME CASES IT IS ONLY A MINOR CHANGE AND AT OTHER TIMES IT IS QUITE DRASTIC. THE DEALER STATES THAT THE MINOR CHANGES ARE BECAUSE I SIT IN THE SEAT DIFFERENTLY EACH TIME I SIT IN THE VEHICLE AND THE MAJOR CHANGES IN SETTINGS CANNOT BE DUPLICATED AND THEREFORE, THEY CANNOT FIX IT. ASIDE FROM THIS, I ASKED THE DEALER IF THERE WERE ANY OUTSTANDING RECALLS AND WAS TOLD NO. ACCORDING TO THE VEHICLE PAGE THAT THEY PROVIDE, THERE ARE 8 RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THEY CLAIM THAT THEY HAVE NOTIFED ME OF THESE RECALLS. THE RECALLS ARE: 01V310000, 02V154000, 02V018008, 02V317000, 03V074000, 03V094000, 03V251000, 03V317000, AND 03V362000. WHEN I LOOK THESE UP ON YOUR SITE, THEY SHOW THAT THEY DO NOT BELONG TO MY VEHICLE AS MOST ARE FOR RVS, WHICH MAKES THIS ALL THE MORE CONFUSING. *LA

CONSUMER WAS AT A STOP IN TRAFFIC WHILE GRADUALLY THE VEHICLE MOVED UP. UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE.
