I AM DRIVING A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE OTHER MORNING, I PUT MY CHILD IN THE CAR SEAT BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT. I HALF ENTERED THE CAR TO TURN ON THE ENGINE, AS IT WAS CHILLY OUT. ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS AFTER TURNING THE CAR ON, I HEARD A HUGE EXPLOSION. SOUNDED AS IF A RIFLE HAD BEEN SHOT NEXT TO MY HEAD. THE BABY WENT NUTS. I LOOKED AROUND, AND THE SIDE AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD TURNED THE CAR ON THAT DAY. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON MY SIDE, IT WOULD HAVE SLAMMED INTO ME PRETTY GOOD, AS WELL AS MY CHILD. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM MADE ME PAY TO HAVE IT DRIVEN TO THEM AND THE RENTAL CAR. THEY WOULD NOT DRIVE IT THEMSELVES FOR FEAR OF ANOTHER AIR BAG DEPLOYING WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. THIS IS OF COURSE WHY I WOULDN'T DRIVE IT EITHER. MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY ARE INSISTING I PAY FOR THE REPAIR. IT IS $2500. I THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION AND AM CONCERNED IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN, MAYBE WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP SAID SINCE NO ONE WAS HURT IN THIS INSTANCE IT WASN'T THERE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION THAT HAS BUBBLING AND PEELING PAINT ON THE HOOD AND BACK HATCH. *TR
MY BEST FRIEND FATHER AND GRANDMOTHER DIED INSIDE AN SUV ACCIDENT THAT EMERGED INTO A SWIMMING POOL. WINDOWS WERE CLOSED. THERE WAS NO WAY OUT OF THE SUV DUE TO POWER WINDOWS. THEY SAT THERE WAITING FOR DEATH. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO ALL VEHICLES WHO ARE BUILT WITH POWER WINDOWS. THE SAME WAY THAT MOST MODERN VEHICLES NOW HAVE A WAY OF ESCAPING FROM THE TRUNK OF A CAR WHY ISN'T THERE SOMETHING WHERE THERE IS A WAY OF ESCAPING FROM A CAR WINDOW IF THE CAR GOES INTO A POOL OF DEEP WATER ABOVE 5 FEET. THESE AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES NEED TO CREATE AN EMERGENCY MECHANISM IN ALL POWER WINDOWS IN CASE OF THE CAR GOING INTO A LAKE, RIVER, POOL, ETC. ALL WINDOWS FRONT AND BACK WINDOWS SHOULD HAVE A MANUAL ROLL DOWN KNOB OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED FOR SUCH ACCIDENTS. I'M PRETTY SURE THAT IF MY FRIENDS FATHER HAD SOME KIND OF TOOL TO BREAK THE WINDOWS HE WOULD OF BUT WHO IS TO SAY THAT THE RUSHING WATERS WOULD HAVE STILL KILLED THEM. THEY WERE SENIOR CITIZENS THAT DIED SO TRAGICALLY AND THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT DEPARTMENT FOR SUCH A COMPLAINT, BUT IF THIS IS THE WRONG DEPARTMENT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE DIRECT ME TO THE PROPER CHANNELS. THIS INCIDENT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION BUT IT IS NOT KNOWN HOW THEY ENDED UP INSIDE A SWIMMING POOL. IF SUCH MECHANISM IS INVENTED, IT SHOULD NOT BE AN OPTIONAL IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY JUST LIKE SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS AND SHOULD NOT BE COSTLY TO THE CONSUMER DUE TO THAT IT IS A LIFE SAVING TO HUMANS AND ANIMALS FOR THAT FACT. I HOPE I AM UNDERSTOOD AND THAT THIS COMPLAINT SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AS IT WILL SAVE A LOT OF LIVES. I ALSO HOPE THAT I HAVE MADE MY SELF CLEAR AND UNDERSTANDABLE. THANK YOU. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. A WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,749 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
AUGUST 21 ON THE WAY TO WORK (4 MILE DRIVE) THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE AND LOST POWER,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER,AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE WHAT IS GOING ON,SO THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CODES ARE P0022-P0305-P0307-P1184-P2198-P2273 MY FAMILY JUST CAME BACK FROM A 3000 TRIP ,I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HAVING THIS HAPPENING TO US DURING THIS TIME. I BEEN LOOKING FOR THE SAME TYPE OF TROUBLE TO THIS TRUCKS AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT HAVING TO REPLACE ENGINES RANGING FROM 38,000 MILES TO ABOUT 60,000MILES. THE PRICE OF THIS CARS ARE WELL OVER $35,000 TO HAVING TO SPEND ANOTHER $7,000 WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS OF OUR ECONOMY RIGHT NOW A NORMAL PERSON LIKE ME CAN NOT AFFORD ANOTHER RIP OFF BY ONE OF THE BIG COMPANIES,LIKE FORD. ALL I'M ASKING IS THAT THEY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ENGINE TROUBLES AND REPAIR LIKE THEY SUPPOSED TO. *TR
THE 17" STEEL TIRE RIM ON THE 2006 FORD EXPEDITION HAD SPLIT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. MY 2006 FORD EXPEDITION SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN FOR THE THIRD TIME NOW WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN SUDDENLY AND GIVES OUT THE ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE MESSAGE ON THE BOARD. DEALER SAYS NOTHING SHOWING UP ON THE DIAGNOSTICS. HOW COULD THAT BE. THERE'S GOT TO BE A REASON WHY THAT SUV SUDDENLY SHUT ITS ENGINE DOWN. ACCIDENT WILL HAPPEN IF THIS WILL NOT BE RESOLVED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 25-55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE TAIL PIPE. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN GREATER THAN 60 MPH. THE HIGHER THE SPEED, THE MORE THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND VIBRATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERYTIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE DEALER HAS HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE JUNE 24, 2008, BUT THEY STILL CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE. I HAVE A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. 31,000 MILES. I HAVE PAINT BUBBLES ON THE HOOD AND REAR TAIL GATE ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. FORD TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A SERVICE CENTER. SERVICE CENTER SAID THEY WON'T FIX IT UNTIL IT BECOME A HOLE IN THE METAL. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! $35,000 SUV 2YRS. OLD AND I HAVE TO SPEND $1,200.00 OUT OF POCKET TO FIX IT. VEHICLE VIBRATION, SLOW LEAK OF TIRE PRESSURE. NEED FOR REPAIR INDICATED A WHEEL FAILURE WITH 25% TO 50% OF OUTER RIM CRACKING AWAY FROM WHEEL. VEHICLES ARE FORD EXPEDITIONS ONE A MODEL YR 2004 AND THE OTHER A MODEL YEAR 2006. USED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT. LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP CONTACTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC, SIZE P265/70R18 TIRES. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WOULD CONTINUOUSLY FLATTEN EVEN AFTER REFILLING IT WITH AIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05T022000 (TIRES:TREAD/BELT) ALTHOUGH SHE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. AFTER INSPECTING THE TIRE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SEAM WAS SEPARATING FROM THE TIRE. PRIOR TO OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS NORMAL AND THE TIRE TREAD WAS 5/30 SECONDS. THE TIRES HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 23,000. UPDATED 02/12/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED ALL 4 TIRES WERE REPLACED AND THEY WERE ONLY A YEAR OLD.
NO INCIDENT YET. VEHICLES TRACTION CONTROL FAILS, ABS FAILS AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE FAILS ALL AT THE SAME TIME. *TR
2006 FORD EXPEDITION THAT CUTS OUT WHILE DRIVING, STARTED AT APPROX 18K AND HAS BEEN TO SAME FORD DEALER 5 TIMES. PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED SINCE LAST VISIT TO DEALER BUT COULD COME BACK AND IS SERIOUS SAFETY FACTOR AS A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER WITHOUT WARNING. LAST REPAIR NOTED A ADJUSTMENT OR REPAIR TO THROTTLEBODY. *TR
THE VEHICLE SMELLED LIKE IT WAS ON FIRE UP FRONT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FRONT TIRE WERE EXTREMELY HOT. MY WIFE DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKES TO AMOUNT TO ANYTHING WHEN SHE PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BAD. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WILL THEN START WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THIS FAILURE HAS OCCURRED RANDOMLY OVER THE FOUR YEARS THE CONTACT HAS OWNED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER A WEEK AGO AND NOTHING WAS FOUND TO BE WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS REJECTED FROM THE SYSTEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 74000.
THE DEALERSHIP HAD JUST FINISHED REMOVING AN EXTRA ALARM THEY HAD INSTALLED ON THE 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. I WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT AND WAS EXCITED ABOUT GETTING A NEW TRUCK, AND ENDED UP SHIFTING IT OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT MY FOOT BEING ON THE BRAKE. I TOLD OUR SALES PERSON AND THEY WANTED TO FIX IT BEFORE WE TOOK DELIVERY OF THE TRUCK. THE NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND TOLD US IT WAS READY. THEY HAD REPLACED THE SHIFT ACTUATOR. WE CHECKED IT AND IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE. A YEAR LATER, MY KIDS WERE GETTING IN THE CAR, I WENT BACK INTO THE HOUSE TO GET SOMETHING I FORGOT, AND MY 2 YEAR OLD CLIMBED IN O THE FRONT SEAT AND WAS PLAYING AND PULLED THE TRUCK OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT HER FOOT BEING ON THE BRAKE AND NO KEYS IN THE IGNITION. THE TRUCK ROLLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY ACROSS THE STREET AND DOWN MY NEIGHBOR'S YARD AND HIT A TREE. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. MY 10 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AND MY 7 YEAR OLD WAS STANDING NEXT TO THE TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT? WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NEITHER FORD NOR DEALERSHIP FELT THAT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THE $1,343.18 WORTH OF DAMAGES TO OUR VEHICLE.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES AND CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED ON JUNE 1, 2007. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND MOST OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. A MONTH LATER THE ANOTHER CRASH OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 25MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WERE $2,300. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC STABILITY THAT TAKES OVER AND IT LEAVES THE CONTACT WITH NO CONTROL OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE RECENT FAILURE AND THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS FROM THE COMPUTER CODES. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 4 VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE CRASH AND 3 OF THEM WERE DAMAGED INCLUDING THE CONTACTS VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,783 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

I LOST CONTROL OF THE 2006 FORD EXPEDITION ON ICY ROADS AND WENT INTO DITCH AND HIT ENBANKMENT HEAD ON. MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BY THE DRIVER SIDE DID NOT. I WAS WEARING A SEATBELT. BECAUSE THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST AND PART OF MY STOMACH. THIS WAS A CONCERN BECAUSE I AM 19 WEEKS PREGNANT.*AK
FRONT ROTORS TURNED BY DEALER SEVERAL WEEKS PRIOR DUE TO VIBRATION WHEN STOPPING. SAME PROBLEM RETURNED AND DEALER THIS TIME REPLACED ROTORS AND CALIPERS. NOW BRAKES FEEL WEAK, AND TRAVEL OF PEDAL HAS INCREASED BEFORE BRAKES ENGAGE. DEALER CLAIMS THIS IS WITHIN NORMAL OPERATION . DEALER CLAIMS NEW CALIPERS HAVE LARGER PISTON SO THIS IS REASON FOR INCREASED PEDEL TRAVEL AND DIFFERENT FEEL OF BRAKES ? BRAKES DO NOT FEEL AS IF STOPPING VEHICLE AS BEFORE PROBLEM BEGAN . RETURNED AGAIN TO ASK DEALER 3-19-07 TO BLEED SYSTEM DUE TO SOFT PEDAL AND CONCERN. SYSTEM BLED MANUALLY THIS TIME AND PEDAL GOT SOME WHAT BETTER . STILL NOT AS FIRM AS WHEN PROBLEM STARTED. PEDAL TRAVEL INCREASE IS STILL PRESENT BEFORE BRAKES ENGAGE. VEH DOES NOT STOP AS WELL AS BEFORE PROBLEM BEGAN .
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT GOING ABOUT 35 MPH AT THE TIME. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED . DRIVER HAD ALL CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE . THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SENSOR THAT MADE THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOY. HAD THE TRUCK CHECKED BY GALPIN FORD, BUT THEY SAID THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY AT ANY TIME FOR ANY APPARENT REASON SINCE THEY DID NOT DEPLOY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION WHICH WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. WHILE STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT ANY SPEED INCLUDING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE PEDAL BECAME STUCK IN THE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE WAS ALSO REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THERE WERE NO RECALLS. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
ON A 2006 EXPEDITION, UPON START UP (NOT EVERY TIME) THERE IS A NOISE THAT I DESCRIBE AS WINDSHIELD WIPERS DRAGGING ACROSS A DRY WINDOW OR A WINDING SOUND THAT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE THE MOTOR OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. IT SEEMS TO MAKE THIS NOISE AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS SAT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, USUALLY AFTER A DAY AT WORK. BUT IT HAS MADE THIS NOISE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT. IT HAS NEVER DONE IT ON A SECOND IMMEDIATE START UP. FORD HAS REPLACED THE STARTER, NO HELP. FORD HAS REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS (THIS WAS A 2005 RECALL I WAS TOLD), NO HELP AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE OIL FILTER, AGAIN NO HELP. UNFORTUNATELY NO-ONE AT FORD HAS HEARD THIS NOISE, BUT ONE TECH SEEMED TO KNOW ABOUT IT FROM ANOTHER CUSTOMER WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE MADE SUGGESTIONS TO THE FORD TECH'S SO THAT THEY COULD EXPERIENCE THIS SAME EVENT (THAT WENT ON DEAF EARS), THEY HAVE LOTS OF THOUGHTS THAT IT COULD BE THE BLENDER (SP) AND THAT I SHOULD NOT TURN THE A/C ON UPON START UP. I TRIED THAT AS WELL, I WILL TRY ANY SUGGESTION THEY PUT OUT, BUT STILL THE SAME NOISE. THEY HAVE THOUGHTS ABOUT THE CAM, AND THEY STOOD THERE AND AGREED THAT THE OIL FILTER CHANGE WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. BUT WHAT THE HECK TRY IT. FORD HAS STATED THAT THEY CAN NOT KEEP THE VEHICLE TO TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS GOING TO BECOME SOMETHING BIGGER AND FAR WORSE. I FEAR OF A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE. SINCE FORD DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO TRY AND ISOLATE THE PROBLEM I SUGGESTED THEY PUT IN WRITING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE. *NM

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS WARRANTY REPAIR DISPUTE AND DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW BEING EXTREMELY SLOW IN THE CLOSING OPERATION *TGW THE DEALER LUBED THE WINDOW AND STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM FOUND. AFTER COMPLAINING SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THE WINDOW, THE DEALER FINALLY DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PARTS AND LABOR WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM EXISTED GOING BACK TO DEC 11, 2006 AND THE DEFECT WAS NOT ADDRESSED OR CORRECTED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER THE ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER STATED HE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS THAT WERE CALLOUSLY OVERLOOKED AND IGNORED BY THE DEALER. ALSO, THE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT TO THE BODY MOUNT WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND SHOWED SIGNS OF ACTUAL MATERIAL FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED CORROSION IN THE FORM OF RUST WOULD COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINES, ALLOWING BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. I PURCHASED A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION IN APRIL OF '06, BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER OF '06 MY ENGINE BEGAN STALLING. THE CONSEQUENCES INCLUDED LOSS OF BRAKING POWER, FREEZING OF STEERING, VEHICLE SLOWING WITH NO CONTROL. AT ABOUT 11,000 MILES I HAD THE FIRST INCIDENT WHILE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC GOING ABOUT 45 MPH. FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. NO POWER DURING 1ST AND 2ND GEAR CHANGE. A FEW DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPEN WHILE ENTERING THE INTERSTATE. WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE THERE WAS NO POWER, NEARLY HIT BY SEMI-TRUCK, COULDN'T GET OVER 60 MPH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I SLOWED BACK ON THE ACCELERATOR AND LIGHT WENT OFF AND POWER SLOWLY CAME BACK. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD AT 12,000+ MILES, KEPT IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. SAID IT WAS A COMPUTER MODULE, CHANGED IT, PICKED VEHICLE UP AND NOT 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME TO TAKE IT RIGHT BACK IN NOT TO MENTION THERE RENTAL CAR EXPERIENCE WAS EQUALLY HORRIBLE. IT'S IN THEIR SHOP NOW 3/10 AND I'M AT 22,000 MILES AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE. IT'S A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. NOW THEY SAY THEY THINK IT'S SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND HAVE ORDERED PARTS. BRAKES FAILED IN PANIC SITUATION ON DRY ROAD. BRAKES GRABBED AND THEN COMPLETELY LET GO WHEN ANTILOCK SYSTEM TOOK OVER. THERE WAS NO SURGE IN THE PEDAL AS IT WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. MY ROAD SPEED WAS 35 MPH WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES AND I WOULD SAY THEIR WAS AT LEAST 100FT BETWEEN MINE AND THE STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I THOUGHT OF SWERVING TO MISS IT BUT WAS SURE I WOULD AT LEAST SLOW ENOUGH TO ONLY BUMP THE VEC. IN FRONT OF ME. THE GUY I HIT SAID HE HEARD A CHIRP AND A COUPLE SECONDS LATER GOT HIT. ON 10/15/06 THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND EXPERIENCED VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING SPEEDS RANGING FROM 5 TO 50MPH. ON 10/21/06 THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING RACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,087. THE NOISE AND THE VIBRATION CONTINUED TO OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ON 11/13/06 THE STEERING RACK WAS REPLACED AGAIN FOR THE SAME FAILURE. TWO TO THREE DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE NOISE AND VIBRATION REOCCURRED. THE DEALER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO DIAGNOSE IT ON 12/06/2006. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR IT UNTIL A FORD ENGINEER INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE. ON 02/12/07, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE DEALER STATING THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NO FURTHER ACTION WAS NEEDED. THE CONTACT FILED A LEMON LAW CASE IN HIS STATE WITH A COURT DATE FOR 09/28/07. ON TWO ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE ANDWAS REQUESTING THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000. *AK
WHEN EXITING INTERSTATE, CHANGES LANE AND AS GAS PETAL WAS PUSHED, NO POWER TO SUV, ENGINE DID NOT RACE OR SHAKE, JUST NO POWER. PUT SUV INTO FIRST GEAR AND IT JERKED AHEAD AT 10 MPH TO STOP LIGHT. WHILE STOPPED, SUV WOULD ROLL BACKWARD IF BRAKE NOT ON. MADE LEFT HAND TURN AND PUT BACK INTO GEAR, ABOUT ONE MILE LATER SAME LOSS OF POWER UNTIL PUT INTO 1ST GEAR. ONE MONTH LATER, ALSO WHILE EXITING INTERSTATE HAD SAME LOSS OF ALL POWER AT BOTTOM OF RAMP WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO LEFT LANE. SUV WOULD ONLY MOVE AFTER PUT INTO 1ST GEAR, ONLY AT 10 MPH. DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AFTER A WEEK WITH THE FIRST INCIDENT, DEALER KEPT FOR 3 AND A HALF WEEKS AND THE P&S DIRECTOR DROVE 716 MILES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAD BEEN DISPLAYING THE LOW AIR PRESSURE LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ( SMOG CONTROL). TIRES WERE CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE PROPERLY INFLATED, ALL FLUIDS, FILTERS, ETC, WERE CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE IN WORKING ORDER. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MILES. BOTH BEFORE MENTION LIGHTS CONTINUED TO COME ON AND OFF. VEHICLE WAS PARKED. APPROX 1 HOUR LATER VEHICLE HORN SOUNDED, I WALKED TO CHECK HORN AND FOUND THE VEHICLE INTERIOR IN FLAMES. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT, AND KEEP THE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE DASH, STEERING AREA. VEHICLE INTERIOR SUFFERED HEAVY SMOKE DAMAGE, FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED. CONTACTED INSURANCE COMPANY AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY. VEHICLE IS ONLY 9 MONTHS OLD AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I REQUESTED THAT FORD REPLACE MY VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE JUST LIKE I PURCHASED. FORD SENT LETTER SAYING THAT SINCE INSURANCE COMPANY IS INVOLVED THEY PROPOSE NO FURTHER ACTION. WHILE MAKING A HARD LEFT TURN TO AVOID A CRASH , I WAS UNABLE TO RECOVER TO THE RIGHT EVEN WITH MY STEERING WHEEL TURNED AL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT. MY VEHICLE CONTINUED LEFT AND COLLIDED WITH THE GUARD RAIL AT ABOUT THIRTY MPH. INSPECTION OF THE DAMAGE FOUND THAT THE LEFT FRONT TIE ROD ON MY BRAND NEW EXPEDITION WAS BROKEN IN HALF. VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK IN THE SHOP AT LEAST 3 TIMES, ONE TIME THEY KEPT IT FOR A WEEK, CLAIM THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE. THEY THEN DECIDED IT WAS THE A/C COMPRESSOR AND WE SHOULD HAVE THE A/C OFF WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. TRIED IT, DOES NOT WORK. NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, IT IS MAKING THE LOUD GRINDING NOISE EVEN MORE. AT ONE POINT, WE WERE TOLD BY A SALESMAN THAT WE SHOULD JUST CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IF WE BREAK DOWN WHILE ON VACATION. JUST WHAT WE WANTED WAS TO HAVE OUR VACATION RUINED BY A FORD SCREW UP. THE DEALER WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND WON'T FIX IT. ON TOP OF THAT THE DVD ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE WON'T STAY CLOSED, THE COVER OVER THE MOTOR FOR THE THIRD SEAT HAS COME DETACHED AND DOESN'T FOLD UP RIGHT AND THE AIR CONDITIONER IS WARM WHEN SITTING STILL. ALL PROBLEMS THAT A MAJOR CORPORATION SHOULD NOT HAVE ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN ON THE MARKET FOR SEVERAL YEARS. WOULD REALLY LIKE ALL THE PROBLEMS COMPLETELY FIXED OR A REPLACEMENT. DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN HAD VERY HARD FRONTAL IMPACT EITHER.
