DRIVE SHAFT FAILURE, WHEN DRIVING AT SPEED OF 60 TO 65 MPH, VIBRATION IN VEHICLE WHICH CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. TT
THE REAR VIEW MIRRORS ON THE EXTERIOR OF MY 1992 FORD EXPLORER DON'T WORK. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 1992 FORD EXPLORER FOR THE SAME. THIS PROBLEM AND ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, MY PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL. HOWEVER, FORD SAYS THAT MY VEHICLE, VIN [XXX] WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND I WANT FORD TO FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE TO ME. PLEASE ADVISE ME. FRONT DISC BRAKES:FRONT DISC BRAKE SHOES ARE BREAKING APART AND DESTROYING THE ROTORS. HAS BEEN DOING THIS EVERY 5000 MILES AFTER THE FIRST 15000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. DEALERS SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. *AK
ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED 2 TIMES. *SD
BRAKES GRAB WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THROWING FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT FORWARD. TT CONSUMER STATES BRAKES SQUEAL AND CATCH AT THE SLIGHTEST PRESSURE ON BRAKES USUALLY FOR THE FIRST 5 TO 10 MINUTES, ALSO NOTICEABLE IN DAMP OR WET WEATHER CONDITIONS. *SLC
FROM THE BEGINNING THE EXPLORER HAS HAD ENGINE VIBRATION,OIL LEAKAGE PROBLEMS,AT 98 MILES, OF BUYING THE EXPLORER FROM THE DEALER FROM BRAND NEW. AS TO DATE THE EXPLORER HAS NOT BEEN FIXED, AND WHEN I HAVE TAKEN THE EXPLORER IN TO BE FIXED,THEY ASK ME TO TAKE IT HOME FOR THEY DONE WANT TO FIX IT.I HAVE REPORTED IT TO THE ATTERNEY GENERALS OFFICE,AND FORD WROTE THEM A LETTER AND SAID THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG,BUT THEY LYIED???? THE ENGINE HAS BEEN FIXED 22 TIMES FOR OIL LEAKS,TRANSMITTION 3 TIMES,VIBRATION 12 TIMES OR MORE,3 TIMES FOR THE ENGINE MISSING,3 TIMES FOR THE ENGINE BEENING NOISEY,AND ONE DEALER WORKED ON IT HAS SAID IT CAN'T BE FIXED, THAT FORD SHOULD REPLACE IT, BUT THIS WAS DENIED BY FORD AS THE DEALER HAD MADE THE REQUEST. AFTER ALL OF THIS ?? THIS DOESN'T SEAM FAIR??? FOR WE STILL HAVE THE EXPLORER WITH ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS,OIL LEAKS ,VIBRATIONS,TRANSMITTION NOT RIGHT,GAS IN THE OIL,AND STILL MISSES. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE BY YOU??
ENGINE LEAKS OIL CONTINUOUSLY, PROBLEM WITH VIBRATION AND GASOLINE LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL.
FAILED MOTOR MOUNTS CAUSE FRONT END SHIMMY AT HIGH SPEEDS.
FAILURE ON THE REAR SEAT BELT, SEAT BELT WILL NOT LATCH BELT WILL NOT COME OUT THE BUCKLE. *AK
FRONT BRAKES GRAB WHEN WEATHER IS WET, MAKING IT HARD TO KEEP STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHT. *DSH
TRANSMISSION FAILED AND REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. MJS
BRAND NEW CAR. TREAD SEPARATED AND CAME OFF BEFORE SECOND TANK OF GAS EVER USED IN CAR. FORTUNATELY IT WAS A REAR TIRE. WIFE DRIVING ON I-17 WITH INFANT IN CAR SEAT. FIRESTONE DEALER WAS A JERK. CLAIMED MY WIFE HAD RUN OVER SOMETHING. SALESMAN WE BOUGHT CAR FROM INTERVENED AND GOT US A NEW TIRE. TIRES WORE UNEVENLY ON THAT EXPLORER AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 35,000 OR SO IN SPITE OF CONSCIENTIOUS ROTATION. REPLACEMENT TIRES MADE 55,000 WITH NO ROTATION - THEY WERE PATHFINDER RADIAL ATRS. BOUGHT NEW EXPLORER IN NOV, 1997. TIRES ON IT WERE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS. THEY WORE UNEVENLY, DISHED OUT, AND I HAD TO REPLACE THEM A YEAR AGO AT 33,000 MILES. ONE HAD PARTIALLY SEPARATED TREAD WHEN WE TOOK THEM OFF. WE BOUGHT MICHELINS. ON BOTH EXPLORERS, WE BOUGHT REPLACEMENT TIRES FROM REPUTABLE DEALERS. AT TIME OF REPLACEMENT, BOTH THOSE DEALERS CARRIED FIRESTONE WILDERNESS ATRS. I DON'T THINK EITHER DEALER WOULD HAVE STOCKED BAD TIRES, ALTHOUGH CLEARLY THE ORIGINAL TIRES FURNISHED ON BOTH EXPLORERS WERE AWFUL TIRES. I HOPE THAT YOU FOLKS ARE CHECKING INTO THE POSSIBILITY THAT TWO DIFFERENT TIRES WERE MADE UNDER THE SAME NAME - A CHEAP ONE FOR THE FORD ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MONOPOLY AND A BETTER ONE FOR THE REPLACEMENT TIRE MARKET WHERE THERE WAS TRUE COMPETITION.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 15 INCH )

DEFECTIVE BRAKE FLUID TUBING TO REAR BRAKES RUSTING IN EXACT SAME PLACE ON BOTH HIS 1992 & 1996 FORD EXPLORERS. *BF *NM
FIRESTONE TIRE RECALL/ REPLACEMENT FOR FORD EXPLORER CUSTOMER STATES THAT FIRESTONE REFUSED TO PROVIDE WARRANTY SERVICE**CC THE CONSUMER STATED HAD A PROBLEM WITH A TIRE RECALL ISSUED FOR HIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON THE RECALL BUT NOTICED THE DEALER INSTALLED PASSENGER CAR TIRES ON HIS TRUCK. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE PASSENGER TIRES WERE .75 INCHES SMALLER, THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER INFORMED HIM WHEN PERFORMING THE RECALL HE COULD USE ANY TIRE SIZE HE WANTED TO AND IT DIDNT HAVE TO BE COMPARABLE TO THE OLD TIRES. THE CONSUMER FURTHER STATED WHILE THIS IS A SPARE TIRE HE FEELS VERY UNSAFE IF SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO HIS TIRES. *TR
1992 FORD EXPLORER REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION NEEDED. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION AND OIL LEAK FIXED. SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY AND THE REPAIRS WILL COST AROUND $1500.00. *KB

ON NOV. 27 THE CONSUMER HAD TO HIT BRAKES HARD AND THE REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLE OPENED. PLEASE DESCRIBE. TT

4-WHL DRIVE AUTOMATIC LOCKING HUBS WILL DISENGAGE WHILE IN USE. PARTS FOR REPLACING ARE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. TT
