THE DOOR HANDLES ON THE VEHICLE HAVE BROKEN OFF OVER 20 TIMES, RESULTING IN MYSELF AND PASSENGERS FALLING IN AND OUT OF VEHICLE. THE DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY IS PART OF THE INTERIOR DOOR AND WOULD COST OVER $300 EACH SIDE. FORD SAID THAT THIS ISN'T A DEFECT. THE HANDLES HAVE BEEN GLUED REPEATEDLY OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS! A DOOR HANDLE SHOULD NOT BREAK OFF WHEN YOU OPEN IT OR CLOSE IT FROM THE INTERIOR! THANKS! *AK

THE BRAKE PEDAL IS LOW AND WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP IT GOES TO THE FLOOR. YOU HEAR A SQEAKING NOISE WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. CONSUMER HAS ALSO RAN A STOP SIGN AND HAS GONE THROUGH (3) SETS OF BRAKE PADS. THE SYSTEM HAS ABS.*AK

ABS: WHOLE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM REPLACED 14 TIMES WITHIN 38,000 MILES; BRAKES GRIND, CHEWED PADS, LOCKED UP, SOMETIMES NO BRAKES AT ALL; NO WARNING. TT
VEHICLE VIBRATES 20 TO 65 MPH; VIBRATES MORE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. VEHICLE PULLS VERY HARD TO RIGHT, SOMETIMES TO LEFT; POSSIBLY CAUSED BY FAULTY ENGINE MOUNTS.
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED THE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES HAD TO BE APPLIED MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THEY ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER 02/13/2008, AND THE VEHICLE OWNER WAS TOLD THAT THE COST OF THE VEHICLE REPAIR WAS HIS RESPONSIBILITY. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL 94V169001 - PARKING BRAKE CONVENTIONAL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,700, AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500. UPDATED 03-11-08 *BF
