CONSUMER WAS PUT ON A WAITING LIST FOR THE RECALLED FIRESTONE TIRES 00T005, WHILE WAITING FOR REPLACEMENT TIRES, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT ON THE SIDEWALL, THE CONSUMER DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND REPLACE THE TIRES AND IS REQUESTING A FULL REIMBURSEMENT. *SLC

JUST ONE MOUNTH AFTER PURCHASE AT COSTCO ONE OF THE TIRES SHOWED SIGNS OF THE STEEL BELTS COMING THROUGH THE SIDEWALL BELOW THE TREAD LINE ON BOTH SIDES. WE HAD COSTCO REPLACE THE TIRE. AND THEY DID BUT! THEY SEEMED TO WANT TO BLAME IT ON DRIVING THRU POTHOLES OR HITTING CURBS BUT IT WAS OBVIOUSE THERE WERE NO SCUFF MARKS ON THE TIRES FROM CURBS. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )
THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE FREE CAUSING THE TIRE TO FALL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. *MJS
THE TIRES NEVER 'FAILED' PER SE. WE BOUGHT THEM NEW A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO (1998) FOR OUR FORD EXPLORER. FROM THE DAY WE HAD THEM INSTALLED, THE EXPLORER WOULD VIBRATE AT SPEEDS OF 65MPH OR HIGHER. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE RETAILER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX THE VIBRATION. SINCE WE HAVE RECENTLY HAD THE TIRES REPLACED WITH MICHELINS (DUE TO THE RECALL), THE VIBRATION HAS SUDDENLY STOPPED. IT NEVER OCCURRED TO US OR THE RETAILER THAT IT WAS THE TIRES CAUSING THE PROBLEM - BUT OBVIOUSLY IT WAS. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )
APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THIS SUV (BRAND NEW, 0 MILES) TWO OF THE TIRES DEVELOPED BUBBLES ON THEM. I NOTICED THEM DURING A WEEKLY INSPECTION THAT I PERFORM ON THE VEHICLE. I HAD THOSE TWO TIRES REPALCED BY A LOCAL TIRE STORE. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER A 3RD. TIRE DEVELOPED A BUBLE. AT THAT TIME I HAD THE REMAINING TWO ORIGINAL TIRES REPLACED. I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL SPARE TIRE ON THE VEHICLE, IT HAS NEVER BEEN ON THE GROUND. I DIDN'T GET THE NUMBERS OFF OF IT HOWEVER, WITH THE DEFECTS ON THE OTHER ORIGINAL TIRES OF THIS VEHICLE I WOULD BET IT IS ONE OF THE TIRES INVOLVED IN THE RECALL.
ALL 4 OF MY MICHELIN LTX M/S P235/75 R15 TIRES ARE EXHIBITING SEVERE CRACKING AND TREAD SEPARATION. BASED UPON SIMILAR PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED WITH OTHER MANUFACTURERS' TIRES, I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE GREAT HARM AND DAMAGE. THE BRACKETS ATTACHING THE HATCH DOOR STAY UP WHEN OPENING TRUNK EVEN THOUGH RECALL 95V164001 WAS COMPLETE, DEALER TWEEKED UPPER BACK REAR OF VEHICLE WHEN DOING RECALL. *SLC
WAS DRIVING 65MPH WHEN VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER. WAS EXITING FREEWAY AND VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW DOWN 2 MORE TIMES. HAD TAKEN TO DEALER 4 OR 5 TIMES. EACH TIME WAS DIAGNOSED AS THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS & HAD IT REPLACED. HAPPENED MOSTLY WHEN IT WAS HOT.

FAULTY SUSPENSION CAUSED SHIMMY/VIBRATION IN VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER HAS BALANCED AND ROTATED THE TIRES 4 TIMES, REPLACED RADIUS ARM BUSHING, ALIGNMENT, REPLACED INNER AND OUTER BEARINGS, REPLACED SHOCKS AND REPLACED THE GOODYEAR TIRES, THE CONSUMER LATER FOUND OUT ABOUT TSB 960415A, THE DEALER REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE. *SLC
VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE VERY BADLY WITH TIRES WHETHER AT LOW OR HIGH SPEEDS. TOOK VEHICLE TO TIRE RETAILER & HAD TIRES ROTATED & BALANCED 4 TIMES. LATER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE & CONTACTED FIRESTONE. WAS REFERRED TO LES SCHWAB WHO WAS DOING RECALLS. LES SCHWAB REFUSED TO EXCHANGE TIRES DUE TO NOT RECEIVING REIMBURSEMENT FROM FIRESTONE MANUFACTURER. ALSO, INDICATED THAT TIRES WERE NOT ON RECALL.*AK

THE PAINT ON THE ROOF OF MY EXPLORER IS FLACKING OFF , THERE WAS SMALL FLACKING WHEN I PURCHASED THE EXPLORER , BUT NOW THERE ARE LARGE PIECES COMING OFF EVERY TIME I WASH THE SUV . I 'VE HAD THE SUV FOR 2.5 YEARS . I'VE TALKED TO THE BODY SHOP MGR AT JOHN NOLAN FORD . HE SAID THE PAINT SHOULD LAST FOR 3YRS OR LONGER . I WOULD THINK THAT MY SUV 'S PAINT SHOULD LAST AT LEAST LONGER THAN 6 YRS. THE PAINT IS ONLY PEELING ON THE ROOF OF THE SUV NO WHERE ELSE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHATS THE PROBLEM? NO SAFETY DEFECT. *AK
THE PROBLEM FIRST DISPLAYED ITSELF AT 8000 MILES, I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN. ON 7/14/93 THEY DID A FRONT END ALIGNMENT. WHEN I PICKED IT UP I QUESTIONED THE UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR ON THE FRONT, THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, ABOUT THIS. THIS CONDITION PERSISTED AND I AGAIN CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN ON 10/19/193. THEY PERFORMED ANOTHER FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND ROTATED THE TIRES DUE TO THE EXTERME WEAR. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED I AGAIN CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING IT IN ON 2/11/94 AT WHICH TIME ANOTHER REALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED AND A PART REPLACED. THE PROBLEM ONLY BECAME WORSE I AGAIN CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS STALLED REPEATEDLY. IN DESPERATION I CONTACTED THE FORD REP IN ATLANTA (MATT DARNELL) AND REQUESTED HIS ASSISTANCE. AGAIN I WAS STALLED ALMOST IGNORED, THE PROBLEM BECAME SO BAD WHILE WAITING FOR MR. DARNELL THAT I WAS FORCED TO TAKE IT TO FIRESTONE WHO PERFORMED ANOTHER FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND REBALANCED THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE WORN SO BADLY BY THIS TIME , THE DAMAGE HAD BEEN DONE. THERE WERE OTHER REPAIRS MADE TO THIS VEHICLE BY CLAXTON LAWRENCE FORD WHO AT ONE POINT REFUSED TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE WE DID NOT PURCHASE IT THERE. AT THIS POINT WE HAD TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY AND THREATEN LEGAL ACTION IN ORDER TO EFFECT REPAIRS. AT THIS TIME THE EXPLORER WAS NEW ON THE MARKET AND INFORMATION THAT IS NOW WIDELY AVAILABLE WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO US OR OTHERS. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNOWINGLY KNEW THEY HAD PROBLEMS AND NOW THAT I REFLECT BACK ON IT MR. DARNELL ALLUDED TO ME IN ONE CONVERSATION TO THAT EFFECT, BUT AT THE TIME I DID NOT PUT IT TOGETHER. I TOO WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER WITH MY EXPLORER AND IT WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED ALONG WITH MY LIFE AND CAREER. HAD FORD BEEN MORE FORTHCOMING WITH INFORMATION THAT THEY HAD THINGS MAY HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT FOR MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS. I HAVE CONTACTED AN ATTORNEY WHO TOLD ME TO MUCH TIME HAD PASSED FOR ME TO TAKE MY CASE TO COURT. *AK

WHILE TRRAVELING ON SNOW AND ICE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE,RAN INTO A TREE, AND HIT HEAD-ON STEERING WHEEL. AFTER A WHILE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
PARKING BRAKE CONTROL SELF ADJUSTING PAWL DOES NOT LINE UP PROPERLY WITH SELF-ADJUSTED RACHET, CAUSING PAWL TO SLIP OVER ONE OR MORE TEETH IN RACHED. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON VEHICLE'S MAKE AND MODEL; HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN.*AK
WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL IS ENGAGED IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE TEETH ON THE RACHET MECHANISM DO NOT ENGAGE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL ENDS UP ON THE FLOOR, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS DEFECT IS THE SAME AS RECALL 94V-169 BUT THE VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL DUE TO VIN. NLM
I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET REFUND FROM FIRESTONE FILED ON 09/01/00. WE HAVE CALLED 7 TIMES TO BE TOLD CALL BACK, YOU ARE NOT IN THE SYSTEM AS YET. I FINALLY ASKED FOR A FAX NUMBER SO THAT I COULD PLEAD MY CASE. THEY AT FIRST REFUSED AND CLAIMED THAT A FAX WOULD ONLY DELAY THINGS FURTHER. I DID OBTAIN THE NUMBER BUT THEY HAVE NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT WAS RECEIVED. THEY ARE LUCKY, WE HAD TO REPLACE TWO TIRES BEFORE THE RECALL BECAUSE WE FOUND TREAD SEPERATION WAS BEGINNING TO TAKE PLACE. IF YOU CAN PLEASE PROVIDE CONTACT INFORMATION FOR JOHN T. LATCHING POST ON DOOR FRAME BUSHING HAS DETERIORATED, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CLOSE AND LATCH DOOR. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
WHILE CHANGING MY REAR BRAKES LAST FRIDAY ON MY FORD EXPLORER I DECIDED TO CHECK MY SPARE TIRE WHICH HAPPENS TO BE A FIRESTONE ATX. TO MY SURPRISE THE TIRE HAD ACTUALLY "BLOWN-OUT" AND SEPERATED WHILE IN THE SPARE TIRE RACK UNDER MY VEHICLE. THIS TIRE HAS NOT BEEN ON MY VEHICLE SINCE JULY OF 1999 WHEN I PURCHASED FOUR NEW TIRES AND PUT THE BEST LOOKING TIRE IN THE SPARE TIRE RACK. I BELIEVE SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK AT THIS TIRE IN THE RACK AND DOCUMENT THIS BEFORE I REOMVE IT. THIS BACKS UP FORD'S CLAIM THAT IT IS THE TIRE, NOT THE VEHICLE THAT IS AT FAULT. YOU CAN SEE I HAVE NOT TAMPERED WITH TIS TIRE IN ANYWAY, THERE ARE NO FRESH MARKS ON THE SPARE TIRE SYSTEM SHOWING THE TIRE HAS NOT MOVED IN MANY MONTHS. (DOT NUMBER: B081 TIRESIZE: P235/75R15)
I HAD MY FIRESTONE ATX TIRES REPLACED BY SEARS. I SENT THE NECESSARY PAPER WORK TO FIRESTONE ON AUGUST 21, 2001 FOR REIMBURSEMENT. I HAVE CALL FIRESTONE TWICE SINCE I SENT THEM THE INFORMATION (OCTOBER 2, 2001 AND NOVEMBER 5, 2001). THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGE RECIEVING MY PAPER WORK, BUT I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVE MY CHECK FROM FIRESTONE. THIS IS GOING ON FOR THREE MONTHS AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECIEVE A CHECK. I CALL FIRESTONE AND I GET NOTHING BUT A RUN-AROUND. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP. THANKS.*AK

I HAVE HAD 3 BLOWOUTS AT 60-70 MPH ALL ON THE RIGHT REAR, 2 WITH FIRESTONE AND 1 WITH GOODYEAR, ALSO PREMATURE RIGHT REAR WHEEL BEARING FAILURE THAT I FEEL HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY VIBRATION AT HIWAY SPEEDS. FORD HAS A TSB 96-04-16 THAT REPAIRS THIS VIBRATION AT A COST OF $1600. WITH THE EXPLORER THESE FAILURES ARE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE MADE A SAFETY RECALL MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL 90-94 EXPLORER OWNERS AT NO COST . THANK YOU.*JB
