ABS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, LIGHT CAME ON PERIODICALLY, REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER/ROTOR/CALIPER/ ANTI-LOCK CONTROLLER. TT
MANUAL TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN REMOVING FOOT FROM CLUTCH. TT
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE FUSES WENT OUT, THE RADIO WENT OUT, AND THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. THE REAR HATCH MOUNT BROKE OFF AND AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE.
WHEN THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE IS ENGAGED THE VEHICLE ROLLS FREELY, RECALL WORK WAS CORRECTED, PROBLEM STILL OCCURS RECALL #94V169000. *AK
WE PURCHASED OUR 1994 EXPLORER IN DEC. 1993. WE IMMEDIATELY STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CAR. IT WOULD VIBRATE AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS A BUILT-IN VIBRATION AND THAT WE WOULD BE CONTACTED BY FORD . WE ALSO TOOK THE CAR TO FIRESTONE AND TOLD THEM THIS STORY, THEY BALANCED THE TIRES AND TOLD US TO GO BACK TO FORD. EVERY TIME WE WENT BACK TO FORD THEY TOLD US SOME STORY THAT THEY WERE WORKING ON THE PROBLEM AND THAT FORD WAS GOING TO SEND THEM A KIT TO CORRECT THE VIBRATION. WE WAITED...WE WENT BACK TO FIRESTONE AND THEY ROTATED AND BALANCED THE TIRES AGAIN. AFTER MANY YEARS OF GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM EVERYONE INVOLVED WE FINALLY PURCHASED NEW TIRES AND SHOCKS AND SUDDENLY THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. NOW THAT ALL THIS INFORMATION HAS COME TO LIGHT ABOUT FORD AND FIRESTONE COVERING UP THESE PROBLEMS WE MAY HAVE SAVED OUR LIVES. WE WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF THE TIRES WE BOUGHT. WE STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL SPARE. I CONTACTED FIRESTONE ABOUT THE TIRES AND THEY TOLD US THAT SINCE WE REPLACED THEM BEFORE THE RECALL IT WAS TO BAD, TRY CALLING FORD. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. WE HAVE ALL OUR PAPERWORK TO BACK THIS UP. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF WE CAN DO ANYTHING.*AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )

BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE LIFT GATE OPEN BROKE, RECALL ON COMPONENTS HOWEVER CONSUMER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED.
VEHICLE HAS SEVERE VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 62PMH TO 70MPH PURCHASED 12/6/93, FIRST REPORTED 12/21/93, AGAIN 1/17/93 AND 12/94. NOTHING EVER DONE, SAID PROBABLY TIRES. WE WAITED, THINKING WHEN THE TIRES WERE REPLACED IT WOULD BE OK. NOW WE REPLACED TIRES, AND VIBRATION IS WORSE! IT WAS INTERMITTANT AT FIRST AND IS CONTINUING TO GROW WORSE AS TIME GOES ON.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAILED THREE TIMES, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL/ACCIDENT. *SKD
FRONT END SHIMMIES WHEN DRIVING OVER A DEPRESSION IN THE ROAD WHILE MAKING A TURN, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. *DSH
BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE, BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. TT
WHEN IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, VEHICLE KICKS IT OUT, CAUSING SUDDEN JERKING TO THE CAR, RESULTING IN CONTROL LOST. TT
THE OWNER'S VEHICLE HOLDS THE SPARE TIRE UNDER THE CHASSIS AND IS HELD IN PLACE BY A CABLE. THE CABLE SNAPPED RELEASING THE SPARE TIRE INTO TRAFFIC. OWNER WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THE TIRE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
CONSUMER COMPLAINT REGARDING THE BRIDGESTONE FIRESTONE NORTH AMERICAN TIRE RECALL IN 2000 AND 2001**CC THE CONSUMER DIDN'T RECEIVE THE RECALL INFORMATION UNTIL AFTER HE HAD ALREADY REPLACED HIS FAULTY TIRES (1993 AND 1994 FORD EXPLORER XL 4X4). THE RECALL INDICATED THAT THE CONSUMER COULD TAKE HIS RECEIPT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE REIMBURSED. THE LOCAL DEALER REFUSED TO HANDLE THE PROCESSING OF THE PAPERWORK. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO GRACIOUSLY PROCESSED THE PAPERWORK, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER STILL WASN'T REIMBURSED FOR THE TIRES. *NM

THE FUEL ODOR /FUMES AFTER 10,000 MILES CAR PARK IN GARAGE AND SMELL IS IN THE HOUSE THIS IS THE FIRST CAR THE FUEL IS COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WELL .

THE BRAKE ROTOR HAD EXTREME EXCESSIVE WEAR ON ONE SIDE SO SEVERLY THAT IT CUT INTO THE ROTOR, REQUIRING THE ROTOR TO HAVE TO BE RESURFACED. TT
PURCHASE CAR NEW AT 9,000 MILES THE STEERING GEAR BOX NEED TO BE REPAIR . TT
