WHILE STARTING VEHICLE AND PUTTING IT INTO GEAR, VEHICLE SUDDENLY TOOK OFF, CAUSING OWNER TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. DEALER SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *AK
HYDRAULIC LIFT SUPPORT WHICH SUPPORTS THE DOOR HINGE FELL OFF. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT. DEALER'S COMMENTS: NOT WELDED PROPERLY. *AK
BALL JOINTS SEIZE, CAUSING FRONT END TO VEER TO EITHER SIDE.
THE BOTTOM SEAT FRAME BROKE, CAUSING THE SEAT TO BE RELEASED FROM THE UPRIGHT POSITION. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BEGAN TO FAIL OCCASIONALLY.
VEHICLE HAS SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND WHILE BRAKING RAPIDLY. THERE IS APPARENTLY A DESIGN DEFECT PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND FORD HAS A CORRECTIVE KIT AVAILABLE TO ATTACH TO THE REAR WHEEL FRAME TO ALLEVIATE THIS PROBLEM.
WHEN TRAVELING AND UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE AND BRAKES FADING. CONSUMER HAS ALSO HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, EA96-017. *AK
ANTILOCK BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING RIGHT REAR TIRE TO LOCK, CAR TO SWERVE.
EXHAUST PIPE LEADING TO MUFFLER FAILED. NLM
DESIGN ERROR, DEFECT IN SUPPORT MECHANISM IN REAR DOOR, THE BRACKET RIPPED FROM DOOR, STRESS WILL CAUSE FAILUR. DOOR WILL COME CRASHING DOWN. DEALER IS AWARE OF DEFECT. HAS A NEW DESIGNED REPLACEMENT BRACKET TO INSTALL. *AK
SPEEDOMETER FAILS WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS.
REAR WINDOW GLASS CRYSTALLIZED. *AK
OWNER HAS ABS BRAKES. WHILE APPLYING THE ABS BRAKES ON ICE OR WET LIKE PAVEMENT VEHICLE GOES INTO A SKID. OWNER IS VERY CONCERNED FOR SAFETY. *AK
LEAVES WERE CAUGHT IN THE HEATER VENT, AND THE LEAVES CAUGHT FIRE, CAUSING SMOKE TO COME THROUGH THE HEATER VENTS. DEALER CLEANED VENTS OUT. *AK
CALIPERS STICK CAUSING DAMAGE TO ROTORS AND PADS.
LIFTGATE BRACKET CAME COMPLETELY OFF, CAUSING THE THE LIFTGATE TO CRASH ON TOP OF CONSUMER, RESULTING IN INJURIES. *AK
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED IN 1995, BRAKE PADS REPLACED AGAIN IN 1997, AND THE ROTORS WERE JUST REPLACED DUE TO CRACKS IN BOTH OF THEM.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES EXTREME VIBRATION THAT STARTS AT AROUND 50 MPH, AND QUITS AT ABOUT 65 MPH. IN ADDITION, WHEN DRIVING FASTER THAN 65 MPH AND HITTING A BUMP THE VIBRATION STARTS BACK UP AND CONTINUES. FORD KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM EARLIER, AND ISSUED A TECHICAL BULLETIN 96-4-15 IN FEBRUARY 1996.
NOISE HEARD IN FRONT END DUE TO FAILURE OF THE U-JOINTS AND BALL JOINTS.
HYDRAULIC HATCHBACK FAILED, CAUSING TRUNK LID TO STRIKE CONSUMER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE THROTTLE STUCK AND WOULD NOT DECREASE SPEED WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS.*AK

WHILE DRIVING REARVIEW MIRROR WILL FALL OFF, CAUSING LOSS OF VISIBILITY. DEALER HAS REAPPLIED GLUE TWICE, DEFECT IS STILL OCCURRING. CONSUMER REPORTED ALL THREE INCIDENCES TO DEALER. *AK *TT
THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE GAS CYLINDER ON RIGHT SIDE OF THE LIFTGATE IS PULLING AWAY FROM THE METAL. THE DEALER WILL NOT CORRECT FREE OF CHARGE. SAFETY CAMPAIGN SUBJECT INFLUNCED BY ODI. *AK
PARKING BRAKE RELEASES, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK

BOTH REAR INSIDE DOOR LATCHES FAILED.
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, NUMEROUS TIMES ENGINE WOULF QUIT RUNNING AND VEHICLE STALLED. DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH, AND VEHICLE WORKS FINE.
HESITATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. STALL/ROUGH IDLE AT STAND STILL. DEALERSHIP CANT ISOLATE PROBLEM...DUNLAP FORD IN BELLEFONTE PA. AREA SERVICE REP FOR FORD SAID HE WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE ME A REBATE ON NEW... I DONT WANT NEW. I JUST WANT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE WELL DOCUMENTED HISTORY.
EXPLORER ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AFTER COMBINATION OF 1) DRIVING ON HIGHWAY FOR APPROX. 1 HR AND 2) HAVE TO CLIMB A LARGE HILL...APPROX. 5 MILES AT 60 MPH. TRUCK STUTTERS AND BUCKS WHILE CRUISING AT 55-66MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENS. TRUCK WAS DIAGNOSED APPROX. 10 TIMES. I HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION FOR TRYING TO RESOLVE PROBLEM. TRUCK HAS SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY DURING ONE OF THESE EPISODES LOSING POWER TO STEERING AND BRAKING. AS A PARENT OF TWO SMALL CHILDREN I'M EVEN MORE CONCERNED. DEALERSHIP TRIED REPLACING FUEL PUMP(2X), TP SENSOR, POTENTIOMETER WITH NO FIX. DEALERSHIP SAID IT COULD BE OXYGEN SENSOR, MASS/MAP SENSOR, THROTTLE CONTROL AT ONE POINT BUT LATER CHANGED MIND. I KNOW OF ONE OTHER EXPLORER WITH SIMILAR PROBLEM. I HOPE THIS ADDS TO YOUR LIST. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION.
FIRESTONE RADIAL ATX P235/75R15 TIRE TREAD PEELED OFF AND WRAPED AROUND THE BRAKE LINE.
BRACKETS ON THE HATCHBACK HAVE BROKEN AWAY FROM THE WELDING, CAUSING THE DOOR NOT TOREMAIN SECUR E IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
HYDRAULIC ARMS ON THE HATCHBACK BROKE, CAUSING THE DOOR NOT TO REMAIN IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON DUE TO FAULTY PROCESSOR.
THE FLOORMAT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE CAN EASILY SLIP IN FRONT OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND RESULT IN FULL THROTTLE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO CRASH AND ENDED UP SLIPPING THE IGNITION INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUTTING OF ENGINE IN TRAFFIC. IT STILL HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY, BUT I KNOW TO CHECK THE FLOORMAT. I SAW IN THE USA TODAY THAT YOU WERE LOOKING AT STICKING THROTTLES IN FORD EXPLORERS AND THOUGHT MY EXPERIENCE MIGHT BE RELEVANT.
ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS FEB 9,15,19,26 1999 THE FORD EXPLORER ACCELERATOR ENGAGED ITSELF, 3 TIMES WHILE COMMUTING ON ROAD APPROX. 30 MILES PER HOUR. EACH TIME THE RPM WAS OVER 4. QUICK ACTION BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH HALTED THE ACCELERATION, WHICH WAS A POTENTIAL FOR DISASTER. THE 4TH TIME HAPPEN WHEN FROM A PARKING STARTUP, (WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELARATOR) THE GAS PEDAL ENGAGED ITSELF, LUCKLY WHILE SITTING IN FRONT OF A MAJOR SHOPPING MALL GLASS PLATE WINDOW THE THE WASN'T IN MOTION. SO WITH THE DEPRESSING OF THE BRAKE PEDAL IT DISENGAGED THE ACCELARATOR. I'VE CONTACTED THE FORD CAR DEALER WITHIN MY AREA FOR SERVICE CHECK AND ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE WITH NO INDICATIONS OF NOTED PROBLEMS. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT IT COULD BE THE CRUISE CONTROL CERVIAL, WHICH COULD BE REPLACED FOR $275.00. PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP FOR FURTHER GUIDANCE.
FAN/HEATER WHEN USED ON PANEL, SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING, IF USED AS DEFROST OR FLOOR I DON'T NOTICE THE SMELL AS MUCH. ONCE THERE WAS SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE VENTS, WE TURNED IT OFF AND IT STOPPED. A MECHANIC CHECKED IT FOR US AND COULDN'T FIND ANY SMOKE. IT HASN'T SMOKED SINCE THEN, BUT IT CONTINUES TO SMELL LKIE SOMETHING IS BURNING IF WE USE THE PANEL VENTS.

ONE OF THE HYDRAULIC CYLINDER SUPPORTS ON THE HATCHBACK REAR DOOR. SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE DOOR TO SLAM DOWN ON OWNER'S CHILD. DEALER HAS FIXED VEHICLE. *AK
SMOKE FREQUENTLY ENTERS THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. *AK
HATCHBACK HYDRAULIC CYLINDER SNAPPED, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON THE VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL, HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. RECALL 95I-007. *AK
WON'T START UNLESS YOU MOVE STEERING WHEEL UP AND DOWN. *AK
THE ROOF RACK ON THE VEHICLE CAME LOOSE, AND FLEW OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
