IN MARCH 1999, YOU ISSUED RECALL NR. 99V062000 WHICH STATED THAT THESE VEHICLES(INCLUDING MINE) MIGHT HAVE DEFECTIVE CRUISE CONTROL CABLES WHICH "COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A CRASH." OWNERS WERE ADVISED"NOT TO USE THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM UNTIL A REPLACEMENT CAN BE MADE." I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON MAY 1, 1999, AND WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE OUTSTANDING RECALL NOTICE. AFTER DRIVING OVER 1000 MILES MOSTLY WITH THE SPEED CONTOL ON, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD, STATING "DURING MARCH OF THIS YEAR YOU WERE NOTIFIED NOT TO USE THE SPEED CONTOL SYSTEM UNTIL YOU HAD THE SPEED CONTROL CABLE INSPECTED..." I WROTE THE DEALER ASKING FOR AN EXPLANATION. HE HAS'NT REPLIED. WHAT DO YOU THINK? *AK
WIPERS GO ON AUTOMATICALLY WHILE DRIVING WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP IN ROAD OR WHEN YOU USE YOUR TURN SIGNAL AND STOP INTERMITTENTLY WHEN RAINING CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY. NLM

WINDSHIELD WIPERS SPORADICALLY COME ON WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON, SOMETIMES AS MUCH AS 10 TIMES IN A HALF HOUR. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE AND CAN'T FIX IT. *AK

WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN OR JUST TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON DUE TO A DEFECTIVE MODULE. CONSUMER HAS BEEN WAITING FIVE MONTHS FOR PARTS. *AK
DEFROST ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DID NOT WORK PROPERLY, FOGGED COMPLETELY CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY. MJS
DESIGN OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ALLOWS FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE IN DRIVE GEAR AND ROLL BACKWARD WHEN RELEASING BRAKE PEDAL AT A STOP. MJS
WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATE ERRATICALLY.THEY JUST COME ON WHENEVER THEY FEEL LIKE WITHOUT BEING ACTIVATED.. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON WITHOUT TURNING THE SWITCH ON. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECOME INOPERABLE. DEALER STATES THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURES DUE A MALFUNCTION WITHIN THE MODULE SWITCH. FORD UNABLE TO REPAIR PROBLEM AND WILL NOT ALLOW DEALER TO REPLACE THE SWITCH. *AK
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL START UP AND INTERMITTENTLY CUT OFF. DEALER DOES NOT KNOW THE SOLUTION FOR IT. *AK
MAJOR DEFECT WITH OUR COSCO DREAMRIDE CARBED. THE CARSEAT IS HINGED TO PROVIDE AN UPRIGHT OR RECLINED "BED" POSITION, DEPENDING ON HOW YOU INSTALL IT IN YOUR CAR. WHEN LIFTING THE SEAT OUT OF MY CAR (IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION) THE SEAT FOLDED IN ON ITSELF AT THE HINGED JOINT, WITH MY 3MO OLD SON INSIDE. HE WAS NOT HURT BUT THE CARSEAT WAS NO LONGER USABLE. I CONTACTED COSCO IMMEDIATELY, RETURNED THE SEAT TO THEM AND RECEIVED A FULL REFUND. BEFORE THIS INCIDENT I HAD THE CARSEAT EXAMINED AT A USAA SEAT INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD NOT TO USE THE SEAT IN THE "BED" POSITON BECUASE IT COULD NOT BE INSTALLED SECURELY IN THAT POSITION. WHEN I CONTACTED COSCO THE CSR TOLD ME THAT THE BABY'S WEIGHT (???) WOULD BE ENOUGH TO KEEP THE SEAT STABLE!! I THINK NOT! ANWAY, I AM HORRIFIED AT THE THOUGHT THAT AN INNOCENT BABY IS RIDING AROUND IN ONE OF THESE DREAMRIDE SEATS AND THAT THEIR PARENT THINK IT WILL HELP PROTECT THEIR PRECIOUS CARGO. I AM GOING TO PASS THIS INFO ON TO ANYONE INTERESTED. I HOPE THESE SAFETY HAZARDS WILL BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY! *AK

WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATE WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON, SEEMINGLY IN CONJUNCTION WITH HAVING TURNED, OR USING TURN SIGNALS. *AK
TURN SIGNALS AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SHARE THE SAME MULTI- FUNCTIONAL SWITCH. WHEN APPLYING THE RIGHT OR LEFT TURN SIGNAL, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR IS DEFECTIVE WHICH IS CAUSING WIPERS TO COME ON INTERMITTENTLY RESUTLING IN A BIG DISTRACTION. CONSUMER HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THE PART FOR TWO WEEKS, MAUNFACTURER WILL NOT SENT PARTS. *AK *YC
WINDSHEILD WIPERS CUT OFF EVERY 5 MINUTES WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER IS AWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT HAS NO SOLUTION. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR IS INOPERABLE, CAUSING A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND THE OWNER HAS BEEN WAITING 2 MONTHS FOR IT. *AK *ML
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CUT OFF WITHOUT APPLICATION. DEALER CAN'T FIND THE SOULUTION FOR PROBLEM. *AK
THE VEHICLE IS DESIGN FOR THE DOORS TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN IN MOTION BUT ON TWO OCCASION TWO PASSENGER HAD THEY'RE ARMS PINCHED BY THE LOCK. NLM
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON UNEXPECTEDLY AND CYCLE ONCE; WILL STOP WHEN OPERATING AT NORMAL SPEED; WILL NOT OPERATE ON HIGH SPEED. REPAIR PART (MODULE) (XL2Z-14B05-BB) IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM FORD MOTOR CO.
1ST. TIME FORD TOOK A WEEK AND A HALF TO SEND A SENSOR, 2ND TIME THEY SENT A (RCM) COMPUTOR MODULE, 3RD TIME STILL WAITING AFTER 3 WEEKS FOR FORDS VENDER TO SEND ANOTHER SENSOR. I HAVE KNOW IDEA IF THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY IF WE ARE IN ACCIDENT OR IF IT WILL SUDDENLY DEPLOY BY ITSELF. SINCE THE SAME PART KEEPS GETTING REPLACED AN THE LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON I DON'T THINK FORD IS SURE THEY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. PLUS I THINK WAITING FOR 3 WEEKS FOR THIS PART IS CRAZY.

WINDSHEILD WIPERS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. NOW THE WIPERS DO NOT COME ON AT ALL. DEALER SAYS PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. *AK
IN JAN, 1999 I RECEIVED AUTHORIZATION FOR INSTALLATION OF AN ON-OFF SWITCH FOR THE DRIVER AIRBAG. I FOUND AN AUTO SHOP WHO WILL INSTALL THE SWITCH, YET FORD REFUSES TO PROVIDE THE SHOP WITH THE SWITCH. SINCE JAN, 1999 THEY HAVE SAID THERE IS A THREE WEEK BACKUP ON PARTS, AND THEY HAVE BEEN STALLING FOR EIGHT MONTHS. SINCE FORD CREATED A LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION BY INTALLING AIR-BAGS WITHOUT THE SWITCHES THEY ARE OBLIGED TO NOW PROVIDE CONSUMERS WITH THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. FORD'S RECKLESS DELAY TACTIC IS CRIMINAL.
FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON AT TIMES AND CAN NOT BE STOPPED. ALSO AT TIMES WILL NOT GO TO HIGH SPEED WIPING, SEEMS TO USUALLY HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER WIPERS COME ON BY THEMSELVES. I JUST RETURNED FROM A TRIP AND DETERMINED THAT THIS USUALLY HAPPENS NEAR TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR IN VALLEYS, SO IT MAY BE RADIO FREQUENCY RELATED.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL TURN ON BY THEMSELVES WITH SWITCH TURNED OFF AND WILL NOT GO INTO IN FAST SPEED, CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY. WIPERS ALSO TURN ON BY THEMSELVES WHEN VEHICLE HITS A BUMP AND SOMETIMES WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED. PARTS ON BACK ORDER FOR 2 WEEKS. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR WHEN TURNING ON THE TURN SIGNALS. ALSO THE WIPERS WILL CUT OFF WHEN TURN SIGNALS ARE APPLIED IF ALREADY ON. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
REAR MIDDLE SEAT BELT CONTINUES TO TIGHTEN ON REAR PASSENGER. NLM
PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNING ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES INDICATING A PROBLEM AND QUESTIONING THEIR REALIABILITY. BOTH THE DEALER AND FORD MOTOR CORP. INDICATED THEY KNEW OF PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE WITH THIS MODEL VECHICLE BUT SAID THEY WOULD NOT HAVE A SOLUTION TILL MAYBE THE END OF THE YEAR.
THIS VEHICLE WAS HIT IN THE REAR END BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT ABOUT 30 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, ALSO THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT COLLAPSED, WHEN WELDS HOLDING SEAT FRAME FAILED, THROWING THE DRIVER FOWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL, THEN FALLING BACKWARD. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.
CONSUMER HAS RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE BRAKE LINES IN JULY OF 99. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED REGARDING THE RECALL ON JULY 16, 99, AND SCHEDULED AN APPONTMENT FOR REPAIRS. WHEN CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY, THEY COME ON WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL NOT IS ACTIVATED, AND WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED THEY DO NOT ACTIVATE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT A FALIURE OF A PART, AT LEAST NOT YET, THERE IS AN INTERMITTANT RUBBING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN SLOWLY EXCELERATING. MY VEHICLE MAKES THIS NOISE AND MY FRIEND'S MAKES THE SAME NOISE. WE PURCHASED BOTH THESE VEHICLES AT THE SAME TIME. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE THREE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAS YET TO BE CORRECTED AND FORD DOES NOT HAVE A SERVICE BULLITEN FOR THIS PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING STEERING WHEEL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. DEALER CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON WITHOUT APPLICATION. SOMETIMES THEY STOP DURING PERFORMANCE OR DO NOT COME ON AT ALL. DEALER CAN'T FIX THEM. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON WITHOUT APPLICATION AND SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT COME ON AT HIGH SPEEDS. ONLY FUNCTIONS ON INTERMEDIATE SPEED. DEALER SAYS NEEDS NEW MODULE. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON WITHOUT APPLICATION AND WHEN TURNED ON THEY DO NOT COME ON HIGH SPEEDS. DEALER DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES BETWEEN 45 TO 50MPH VEHICLE PULLS TO THE LEFT. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE 4 TIMES, AND REPLACED PADS/ROTORS,AND CALIPERS. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
POOR DESIGN OF THE PASSENGER SEAT (BENCH) WILL NOT LOCK IN PLACE. HOWEVER, WHEN A PASSENGER IS GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE BENCH TILT UP IN THE REAR PART OF SEAT CAUSING FAILURE WHICH COULD RESULT IN POSSIBLE INJURY. *YC
REAR BUMPERS ON THIS SERIES IS SO HIGH ABOVE GRADE THAT THEY ARE INEFFECTIVE. A SIMPLE BUMPER TAP FROM A NORMAL SEDAN AS IN PARALLEL PARKING, IS SUFFICIENT TO DO THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DAMAGE SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE RAISED BUMPER. MY COMMENT: REQUIRING BUMPER STANDARDS LIKE "5 MPH" IS IRRELEVANT IF BUMPERS DO NOT MATCH. THE FORD EX... SERIES BUMPER HEIGHT IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF NON-STANDARD, UNNECESARILY BURDENSOME, DESIGN CHANGE. *AK

WHILE DRIVING IN A RAIN STORM, WITHOUT WARNING, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT COMPLETELY OUT. OWNER HAD TO WAIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL THE WIPERS STARTED BACK UP. DLR HAS SEEN VEHICLE, AND IS WAITING FOR PART. *AK
