RADIATOR LEAKS BADLY, PLASTIC CRACKED. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TOO HARD AND HESITATES GOING INTO REVERSE ENDING WITH A LOUD BANG INTO GEAR. *TR
THE WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASH , TOOK IT TO AAMCO AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD. THIS IS A 2006 EXPLORER WITH 96,000 MILES. I HAD THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED AND WRENCH STILL ON. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE RADIATOR THREE TIMES AND GETTING READY TO DO IT AGAIN THE SECOND TIME THE TRUCK RAN HOT AND RUINED THE MOTOR. I THEN PUT ANOTHER MOTOR AND NEW RADIATOR AND IT HAS NOT BEEN 40000 MILES AND WITH NO WARNING AT ALL IT DONE IT AGAIN WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS THAT HAS BEEN POSTED ONLINE THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED TO EVERY ONE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2006 FORD EXPLORER EDDIE BAUER 4.0 WITH LEAKING RADIATOR STARTING AT 30,000 MILES. ALSO THE VEHICLE AT DEFECTIVE THERMOSTATS AND RESERVOIR, THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. FORD REFUSED TO RECALLED THIS PART FOR WHATEVER REASON, EVEN THOSE THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. HERE ARE LISTING OF OTHER PEOPLE MAKING COMPLAINTS ON OTHER WEBSITE OF THEIR RADIATOR LEAK AND OTHER COOLING SYSTEM PARTS GOING BAD AS WELL. BOUGHT AND OWN A 2006 FORD EXPLORER, EDDIE BAUER PURCHASED AS USED IN 2008 WITH 19,000 MILES ON IT. AT 60,000 THE TRANSMISSION LURCHES, AND SLIPS....FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS REAR ENDING YOU. SLOW TO RESPOND WHEN ACCELERATING, MAKES CLUNKING SOUND WHEN PUTTING INTO PARK OR REVERSE. RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE 2006 FORD EXPLORER TRANSMISSIONS AND APPARENTLY FORD HAS ISSUED NO RECALL AND OFFERS NO REPAIR SOLUTION (UNLESS YOU SHELL OUT $2500 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION). IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT A SUV WITH 60,000 MILES NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION!! I STILL OWE JUST UNDER $10,000 FOR THIS TRUCK, WHERE IS THE JUSTICE IN BUYING AMERICAN?? CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE RETURNED TO DEALER, DETERMINE THERMOSTAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACE AT NO COST . JUST PURCHASED VEHICLE 3/29/2011 HAS 43,600 MILES. NOW I WORRYING ABOUT THE RADIATOR GOING BAD. *TR
DEVELOPING COOLANT LEAK BELOW FORD EXPLORER 2006 RADIATOR. MY MECHANIC HAS DECLARED THE RADIATOR DEFECTIVE AND IS FAILING. THIS IS THE SECOND FAILED RADIATOR. THE FIRST FAIL WAS IN OCT 2009, APROX 48K MILEAGE, AND WAS CONSIDERED A PROBLEM KNOWN BY FORD. NOW I FACE A SECOND REPLACEMENT OF EXCESS $800 ESTIMATE MARCH 24TH 2011. MY ESTIMATED MILEAGE WAS 24K BETWEEN REPAIRS. THIS NEEDS TO BE SOLVED OR OUR FUTURE CARS WILL NEVER BE FORD! *TR
ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, WHILE RETURNING FROM THE PARK WITH MY DOG, MY WARNING LIGHT FOR TEMPERATURE ILLUMINATED RED AND I SAW THAT THE TEMP. GAUGE HAD SPIKED TO HOT. I PULLED OVER AND AS I WAS GOING TO SHIFT INTO PARK, THE TEMP. GAUGE FELL BACK INTO THE NORMAL OPERATING RANGE VERY QUICKLY. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST AN ANOMALY. ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER, I NOTICED THAT THE FAN WAS RUNNING LOUDLY AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE TEMP SPIKED AGAIN. I DID SO RESEARCH ON-LINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS MODEL EXPLORER HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH RADIATORS FAILING. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN TO MY MECHANIC WHO FOUND THAT MY RADIATOR WAS INDEED COMPROMISED AND WAS LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT. A NEW RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT AD WATER PUMP WERE INSTALLED COSTING ME CLOSE TO $1000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PCM WIRE HARNESS WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
VEHICLE BANGS INTO GEAR FROM 1ST TO 2ND, AND CONSTANTLY SLIDES IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE THE ENGINE IS REVVING AT 2500 RPM. ALSO HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. SHOP ADVICE WATER GETTING INTO WIRE HARNESS THEY FIX BY DRYING IT AND PUTTING GREASE BUT ISSUE PERSISTS (NO CODE). *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCEPT FUEL WHEN FILLING UP AT PUMP. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF A DIRTY EMISSION CANISTER. THE CANISTER WAS REPLACED 03/18/2011 AND THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED 03/19/2011. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A FORD PROBLEM AND NOT MINE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT GOT DIRTY BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY SNOW WE RECEIVED THIS PAST WINTER. I'M CURIOUS, DON'T THEY SELL THESE CARS UP NORTH WHERE IT SNOWS HEAVY EVERY YEAR? HOPEFULLY THIS ISSUE WILL BE LOOKED INTO SOON.
I HAVE A 2006 FORD EXPLORER AND RECENTLY HAD WORK DONE. AFTER THAT WORK I NOTICED THAT COLLING FAN WAS COMING ON CONSTANTLY AND THAT IT WAS EXTREMELY LOUD AND SOUNDED LIKE ENGINE WAS ROARING. FORD 2006 EDDIE BAUER EXPLORER. DRIVING VEHICLE AND AT A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT THE ABS LIGHT TURNED ON WITH ROUGH LEFT TO RIGHT SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE AS IF IT WAS BEING SHAKEN IN AN EARTHQUAKE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR IT WOULD NOT GO. NUMEROUS LOUD CLICKING WAS HEARD AND THE SHAKING CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE SLOW AND I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR ABOUT 7 MINUTES. I RESTARTED VEHICLE AND ABS LIGHT, CLICKING ANG VIOLENT LEFT TO RIGHT SHAKING CONTINUED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS A BLOCK AWAY AND I PROCEEDED TO DEALERSHIP AT ABOUT15-20 MILES PER HOUR. AS I PROCEEDED THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE RSC LIGHT. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT IT WAS AN ABS TONE RING THAT CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION AND THAT FOR SOME REASON THE CLUSTER AND COMPASS HAD MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE OTHER LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE. THE TOTAL COST IS$1300.00 FOR REPAIR AND THIS WAS OVER TWO WEEKS AGO STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED VEHICLE. I HIGHLY SUSPECT THAT THE RELATED CLUSTER MALFUNCTION IS RELATED TO SUPPOSED TOE RING MALFUNCTION AS DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN VERY IFFY ABOUT THE REPAIR AND HAVE AVOIDED MY PHONE CALLS REQUESTING UPDATE. VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 46000 MILES AND IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT DEALER STATES ALL MALFUNCTIONS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
ABS LIGHT & TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. TAKEN TO DEALER AND FOUND LEFT REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AND TONE RING HAD TO BE REPLACED. WAS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY AT $100. DEDUCTABLE. AFTER HAVING BEEN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR BUSINESS FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS I KNOW THIS TYPE OF FAILURE SHOULD NOT OCCUR IN NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION IN THE MILEAGE ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE DONE A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF RESEARCH AND NOTICE THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2006 FORD EXPLORER. THE TRANSMISSION IS GIVING NUMEROUS ISSUES. HARD TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE, ROARS, SLIPS WHEN CHANGING GEARS, ETC. THE MOST DISTURBING PROBLEM IS THE TRANSMISSION JUST JUMPS INTO GEAR WITHOUT MOVING THE GEAR SHIFTER LEVER. THE TRANSMISSION STALLS AT RED LIGHTS AND THEN JUST JERKS FORWARD AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS. PLEASE HELP BEFORE THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I OWN A 2006 FORD EXPLORER WITH ONLY 64,000 MILES AND THE TONE RINGS ON THE ABS BRAKES HAVE BOTH CRACKED, NOT COSTING ME OVER $1000 IN REPAIR BILLS. THIS IS AN ITEM THAT SHOULD NOT CRACK WITH ONLY 64K MILES OF USE. *TR

DRIVING AT 45 MPH ,TRANSMISSION SHIFTED WITH A JERKY MOTION ,FIRST STARTED THEN.WHEN YOU FIRST TAKE OFF IT JERKS AND MAKES A NOISE. WHEN YOU BACK UP IT JERKS HARD ENOUGH IT WHIPS YOU BODY BACK. HAD IT CHECKED AT A TRANSMISSION PLACE. THEY TORE IT DOWN AND FOUND NOTHING ( $400). STILL JERKS AND SHIFTS ROUGH. DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT'S GOING TO LAST. *TR
VEHICLE HAS PROBLEMS DOWNSHIFTING WHEN DECELERATING AND SHIFTING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, INSTEAD OF A SMOOTH SHIFT, ITS A JOLTING BANG , SIMILAR TO BEING REAR ENDED . THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU PANIC BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU'VE BEEN REAR ENDED. IT IS JOLTING!!!! I HAVE HEARD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GASKET IN THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WHICH CAUSES SHIFTING MALFUNCTIONS, BUT FORD WON'T OWN UP TO THE DEFECT AND INITIATE A REPAIR RECALL BECAUSE IT WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE, I PERSONALLY KNOW OF 5 OTHER EXPLORER OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE JOLTING BANG COMES FROM THE ENGINE ACCELERATING WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL, BUT THE TRANS DOES NOT ENGAGE UNTIL SEVERAL SECONDS LATER WHICH CAUSES A JOLTING DUE TO THE ENGINES HIGH RPMS AS YOU DEPRESS THE PEDAL. THE SUDDEN ENGAGEMENT OF THE TRANS WHEN THE ENGINE IS REVVING AT HIGH RPMS CAUSE A JOLTING BANG . *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AS IF IT STALLED. ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT VEHICLE HAD NO POWER. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO REGAIN POWER. ALWAYS FEARED BEING REAR ENDED OR STALLING ON RAILROAD TRACKS. DEALER DETERMINED IT WAS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AND REPLACED IT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD THIS MALFUNCTION SINCE THE REPAIR ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO. *TR

I BEGAN NOTICING A COOLANT SMELL AFTER USE, THEN NOTICED A LEAK THAT PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE. I ADDED COOLANT TO KEEP DESIRED LEVELS. I HAD A MECHANICAL SHOP INSPECT AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS A "DEMO" FROM A LOCAL FORD DEALER W/ 11K MILES ON IT. AT 30K MILES THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED W/ OEM BY FORD UNDER WARRANTY AS IT WAS LEAKING IN A SEAM. I HAD THE RADIATOR REPLACED AGAIN, SO THE VEHICLE IS ON ITS' THIRD RADIATOR. MILEAGE AT LAST REPLACEMENT WAS 73K. SO 3 RADIATORS IN 73K MILES. THE MECHANICAL SHOP CONTACTED FORD ABOUT PARTS AND WAS TOLD THERE HAD BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THESE RADIATORS AND AN"UPGRADED" RADIATOR IS AVAILABLE BECAUSE OF THE ISSUES. I WENT WITH THE UPGRADED OEM VERSION, PARTS/LABOR WAS ABOUT $800. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABNORMALLY LEAKING FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RADIATOR PLASTIC FAILED AND CAUSED THE RADIATOR CRIMP TO LEAK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED IN 2010 AND THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED AT THAT TIME. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE RADIATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACT AND ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE RADIATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY DECELERATE TO 40 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. LATER, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THEY WOULD ASSIST HIM AT A LATER DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2006 FORD EXPLORER WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES STARTED TO HESITATE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. AFTER CHECKING OUT ALL THE FLUIDS, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE RADIATOR (ANTIFREEZE) WAS WAY BELOW LEVEL. I HAD TO FILL UP THE RADIATOR WITH 1-1/2 GALLONS OF COOLANT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER EVERY TIME FOR A OIL CHANGE AND WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THE COOLANT WAS BELOW LEVEL. AT 44,000 MILES, THE LEAK WAS SO BAD THAT THE RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. JUST AFTER A YEAR LATER ANOTHER FAILURE TO THE RADIATOR. HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR A SECOND TIME AT 65,250 MILES. THIS TO ME IS A SAFETY CONCERN, IF THE RADIATOR FAILS WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SEIZE AND POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARKING GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED HE WOULD HAVE TO CONTINUALLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE AND RATTLE THE GEAR SHIFT IN ORDER FOR IT TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND REFERRED HIM TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000. UPDATED 06/02/11 *BF WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED AT THE DEALER TO GET THE RECALL FIXED, HE WAS INFORMED THE LETTER HAD EXPIRED AND THE RECALL DIDN'T APPLY TO HIS MODEL YEAR. UPDATED 08/05/11

THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO OVERHEAT SPORADICALLY AND THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST WHERE THEY REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AND ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE FAILURES. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS TO THE COOLING SYSTEM BUT WAS UNABLE TO DISABLE THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO MAKE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. UPDATED 04/25/11 *BF UPDATED 1/13/2012 *LN *TR

WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE TO VERY HOT. THE CONTACT DROVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH CAUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED. THE MOST RECENT IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED AND THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

NOTICED LOW COOLANT LEVEL AND SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED FOR ABOUT 10 SECS, THEN WENT BACK TO NORMAL TEMP. TOOK TO THE DEALER TO GET CHECKED OUT, AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW RADIATOR BECAUSE THERE WAS IN FACT A SMALL LEAK. REPAIR COSTS WERE $1100 TO REPLACE A RADIATOR, YES A RADIATOR THAT HAD 50K MILES ON IT. RADIATORS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO GO OUT THAT EASILY, AND AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE WEB I HAVE FOUND DOZENS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME SORT OF ISSUES. FORD HAS ALREADY RELEASED A TSB FOR THIS FAULTY PART BUT WILL REFUSE TO GIVE ME ANY KIND OF REIMBURSEMENT, OR PAY FOR ANY OF THE WORK DONE. THE ONLY REASON I EVEN USED THE FORD DEALER WAS TO GET THE PCM UPDATE THAT ONLY THEY CAN DO. PLEASE HELP, COMPANIES HAVE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL. *TR
RADIATORS ON 2006 FORD EXPLORERS. MY FIRST RADIATOR WAS REPLACED AT 37,318 MILES. I NOW NEED A NEW ONE AT APPROXIMATELY 65,000 MILES. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD REPLACEMENT ON JUST MY VEHICLE. FORD HAS OFFERED NO HELP AS TO THE COST OF REPLACING AN OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE PART. CHECKING ON LINE, I SEE OTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING FROM FORD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 45-65 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SPECIALIZED TRANSMISSION CENTER WHERE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND OTHER RELATED PARTS WERE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS UPDATED. THE MALFUNCTION BECAME WORSE AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

IN CHECKING THIS OUT, THIS IS NOT COMMON FOR A CAR OF THIS AGE, HOWEVER, IT SEEMS 2006 EXPLORERS ARE PRONE TO THIS PROBLEM. 2006 FORD EXPLORER EDDIE BAUER ADDITION BLUE W/BEIGE TRIM. WITHOUT WARNING WRENCH LIGHT THEN TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. CARS RPMS WERE STUCK AT 3..3.5 YET CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING. AFTER DRIVING 18.7 MILES OTHER THAN FEELING & HEARING CLUCK AS CAR SHIFTED GEARS. HAS APPENDED SEVERAL TIMES (4). IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SLOW ACCELERATION CAN LEAD BE REAR END COLLISION, I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR. RAPID AND HARD CLUCK WHEN MOVING FROM PARK CAUSES VEHICLE TO LURCH WHICH IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN TIGHT PARKING SPACES SUCH HAS GARAGE. I TOOK MY 2006 FORD EXPLORER TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE. THE SERVICE PERSONNEL FOUND THE TRANSMISSION PAN HEAVILY CORRODED JUST ABOVE AN EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE. TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD BEEN DRIPPING ONTO THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE. THERE IS APPROXIMATELY A 1.5 FOOT SECTION OF THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE THAT IS COVERED WITH BLACKENED TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE HEAVIEST CORROSION IS EXACTLY ABOVE AND PARALLEL TO THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE. THE TRANSMISSION PAN ACTUALLY HAS SMALL HOLES IN IT JUST ABOVE THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIP. THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE IS ABOUT 1 1/4 INCHES BELOW THE TRANSMISSION PAN. AS A RESULT OF THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE AND THE TRANSMISSION PAN BEING SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER, THE CONSTANT HEAT FROM THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE HAS CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION PAN TO CORRODE, RUST AND LEAK TRANSMISSION FLUID RIGHT ON THE EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. THE DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION PAN. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS DENIED COVERAGE OF THIS UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN. I AM CURRENTLY SEEKING A REMEDY FROM FORD. AT 65,000 MILES, MY 2006 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO BUCK AND IT WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS. THE TRUCK MAKE A HORRIBLE TICKING NOISE WHEN YOU START IT UP. IT WILL DO THIS UNTIL THE OIL GETS THRU THE MOTOR. FORD STATES THAT IT IS THE NATURE OF THE MOTOR FOR NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE HAD THE DOOR BLENDER PLASTIC PIECE CHANGED ON MY CAR THREE TIMES! EACH TIME THE SEASON CHANGES. I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE IT AGAIN.
