MY 2007 EXPLORER DRIVER SEAT MOVE AT WILL, FORWARD OR BACKWARD EVEN WHILE DRIVING. I AM SHORT AND THE POWER SEAT MOVES BACK TO WHERE MY FEET NO LONGER REACH THE PEDALS. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY WHEN DRIVING OR JUST STATIONARY WHILE CHANGING GEARS AND HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR HAS ONLY 40,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO HAVE REPAIRED BUT THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. A NET SEARCH REVEALS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AS I WAS DRIVING WHICH DID NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC AS NEEDED. I TOOK TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $3800.
2007 FORD EXPLORER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT IS LOCKED UP AND WILL NOT COME OUT OF ITS POSITION. *SMD
THE VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE, OR PARK TO DRIVE OR ANY OTHER GEAR. YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN THE GEAR YOU WANT AND WAIT FOR IT TO SHIFT. IT THEN GIVES A JOLT WHEN IT SHIFTS, AND THEN YOU CAN MOVE. AT TIMES, THE CAR WILL SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHEN STOPPING FOR RED LIGHT, AND YOU HAVE TO MOVE THE GEAR TO ANOTHER GEAR THEN BACK TO DRIVE ON GREEN TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 73,950.9 MILES AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE DATE BELOW IS AN ESTIMATED DATE. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR.
I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A FORD DEALER USED 2 YEARS AGO. IT WAS A ONE OWNER VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND HAS BEEN CONTINUING SINCE AND OVER THE LAST 3 MONTHS HAS BEEN MORE AND MORE FREQUENT. CAR WILL SUDDENLY DISPLAY THE YELLOW BOX AND WRENCH ON THE STATUS SCREEN IN DASH BOARD AND IF CRUISE IS SET, THE CRUISE WILL TURN OFF. IT WILL START LUNGING, THEN STOP COMPLETELY. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES I CAN FINALLY GET IT STARTED. THEN IT WILL START RUNNING, STOP, START AND WILL ONLY REV TO LOW RPM'S AND MOVE VERY SLOWLY. THE SAFETY ISSUE OCCURS WHEN IT COMPLETELY STOPS RUNNING SUDDENLY WHILE TRAVELING AT 40-70 MPH. THE POWER STEERING NO LONGER WORKS AND THE POWER BRAKES ARE VERY HARD TO USE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AS HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN READING ON THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR, WATER PUMP AND HEATER CORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE 02 SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE 02 SENSOR, HE NOTICED SEVERAL BARE WIRES. THE INSULATION ON THE WIRES HAD ROTTED AND FALLEN OFF THE SENSORS. AS A RESULT, THE WIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT PULLED DOWN THE TRANSMISSION WIRE HARNESS AND NOTICED THAT 15 WIRES WERE AFFECTED. ALSO, THE COOLING TEMPERATURE SENSOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. UPDATED 11/12/15*LJ *CN
TRANSMISSION STARTED TO HAVE HARD SHIFTING, SLIPPING BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH GEAR. JUMPS VERY HARD WHEN PUT IN REVERSE. IT WOULD SLIP BETWEEN 3RD AND FOURTH GEAR WHEN GOING ABOVE 40 MPH AND DO IT ONLY ONE OR TWO TIMES WHEN STARTING TO DRIVE THEN OPERATE NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT COLD START. I SEE SEVERAL POSTED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MODEL TRANSMISSION. MAYBE NHTSA SHOULD RECALL IT BEFORE SOMEONE HAS A BAD ACCIDENT DUE TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE.

MY HUSBAND NOTICED A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING. IT GOT WORSE AFTER A ROAD TRIP AND WE ISOLATED THE NOISE AS COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. WE INVESTIGATED FURTHER AND DISCOVERED ONLY ONE LUG NUT WAS HOLDING THE TIRE ON, AND 2 OF THE PINS HAD SHEARED COMPLETELY OFF. WE IMMEDIATELY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE AXLE. AFTER CHATTING ABOUT THE ISSUE AT WORK I DISCOVERED A COWORKER HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN WITH HIS 2005 EXPLORER BUT HIS WHEEL ACTUALLY FELL OFF CAUSING $5,000 IN DAMAGE TO HIS VEHICLE (NO INJURIES OR ACCIDENT). IS IT POSSIBLE THERE IS SOME DEFECT?
MULTIPLE PROBLEMS ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WITH DIFFERENT ISSUES ALL WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING UNIT REPLACED BECAUSE IT CRACKED, THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AND RE CALIBRATED, REPLACED THE SHIFT SOLENOID PACK BECAUSE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND SHIFTED HARD. FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH REPLACED DUE TO POWER STEERING LEAK AND THE SWAY BAR LINK REPAIRED BECAUSE IT CAME LOOSE. FUEL FILTER REPLACED DUE TO ENGINE LIGHT CODE INDICATED ISSUES. TRUCK ONLY HAS 81000 MILES AND NOW GETTING READY TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS MAKING A LOUD "CLUNKING" NOISE WHEN MAKING ONLY LEFT TURNS. ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN AFTER THEY RESET IT WITH EVERY REPAIR THAT HAS BEEN DONE.

THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS. IT IS JERKING INTO GEAR HARD. WE TOOK IT AND HAD IT PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND IT IS NOT ELECTRICAL WHICH MEANS IT IS INTERNAL. *TR
UNABLE TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT JERKING OR HESITATION. FELT LIKE TRUCK WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH WRENCH LIGHT. SHIFTED HARD. ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE THE SHIFT SOLENOID PACK, HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AND RE CALIBRATED AND STILL HAVE ISSUES WITH POOR ACCELERATION . PROBLEM STILL NOT RESOLVED.

WHEN DRIVING 30 TO 35 MPH 2007 FORD EXPLORER WON'T TO PICK UP SPEED THEN A VIOLENTLY JERK COME WITH ACCELERATION AND SPEED. DEEMING THE VEHICLE TO BE DANGEROUS AND HARMFUL. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FIT FOR A FAMILY OR ANY PERSON.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WEATHER WAS ABOVE FREEZING AND THE REAR DEFROSTER WAS ACTIVATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR LACERATIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. I AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH OUR V8 EXPLORERS. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN CLUCKING, JERKING, AND SLIPPING WITHOUT REASON. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE AS TIME PROGRESSES. I AM VERY UPSET THAT FORD HAS NOT ANNOUNCED A RECALL.

ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING FOR NO REASON WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF OF MAJOR HIGHWAY ON TO SIDE STREET. LET UNIT SET FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO GET RESTARTED. WENT SEVERAL BLOCKS AND ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. LET SET AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME ABOUT TWO MILES WITHOUT ANY MORE PROBLEMS . NEXT DAY ENGINE STALLED AGAIN, RESARTED AND WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME WITHOUT STALLING.UNIT WAS THEN TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP FOR SERVICE WHERE THEY DID NOT FIND ANY TROUBLE CODES AND WERE NOT ABLE TO GET UNIT TO REPEAT PROBLEM BY WARMING ENGINE AND DRIVING A NUMBER OF TIMES. THEY ARE AT A LOSS FOR A SOLUTION OTHER THAN A COMPUTER REPROGRAM. *TR

I PURCHASED MY CAR USED IN 2008 WITH LESS THAN 10,000.00 MILES ON IT. THE RADIATOR HAD TO BE SEALED TWO YEARS AGO DUE TO CRACK. IT IS NOW LEAKING COOLANT AGAIN, AND THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2007 EXPLORER. I'M NOT SURE WHY A RECALL HAS YET TO BE ISSUED. OVER 300 COMPLAINTS ONLINE, AND NO RECALL. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE ADJACENT TO AN EXPLOSION SOUND OVERHEAD. THE CONTACT HAD THEN NOTICED THAT THE SUN ROOFS GLASS HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. THE SUN ROOF WAS SLIGHTLY OPENED AND WHEN THE THEY BEGAN TO HEAR THE GLASS CRACKING,THEY SHUT THE VISOR,THEREFORE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER HAD NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NOT ANY VEHICLES NEAR THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NO RAINY,HAILING OR DRASTIC TEMPERATURE CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RARE AND THE SUN ROOF NEEDED TO BE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE AND REFERRED THE INFORMATION TO THEIR ENGINEERS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.KGB
THE VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE, THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY HAS SEPARATED FROM THE VISOR AND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THE COVER OF THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY HAS SNAPPED. THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS RARELY USED SINCE A PASSENGER IS RARELY IN THE SEAT. THE CLIPS HOLDING THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR ASSEMBLY SNAPPED OFF AND THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE MIRROR ON IS THE FEED LINE FOR THE MIRROR LAMP. *JS
DRIVING ALONG AND INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON THEN WENT OFF IN THE FRONT THEN THE REAR INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND WENT OFF. THIS HAPPENED TWO TIMES BUT DID NOT REOCCUR YET. COULD CAUSE A DISTRACTION OR PROBLEMS SEEING ROAD AT NIGHT. *TR

WHEN TRYING TO GIVE GAS IT ESATATES, STALLS AND JERKS. WHEN THIS STARTED WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUEL. THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. WE GOT IT TO THE DEALER IT HAD 59000 MILES ON IT AND WE WERE 20 DAYS OVER THE WARRANTY. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE MIGHT NEED A TORQUE CONVERTER OR A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $2800 OR $5400. THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS STILL DOING IT AND WE WORREY THAT IT MAY CAUSE A SERIES ACCIDENT.
VEHICLE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD COME ON WHEN THE CAR WOULD HIT A BUMP. PROBLEM WOULD BE TEMPORARY RESOLVED BY JINGLING THE KEYS. AT ONE POINT DURING THIS, CAR SHUT OFF AFTER HITTING A BUMP WHILE DRIVING. TOOK IT IN AND THE TUMBLERS IN THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (AS SEEN WITH THE RECENT CHEVY RECALLS). REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH AND PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE. *TR

TRANSMISSION FAILED. TOOK IT IN TO BE REBUILT AND IT NEVER SHIFTED RIGHT SO I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN AND THEY REPLACED AN ELECTRICAL STRAP; STILL NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. TOOK IT BACK AGAIN TO BE LOOKED AT. GOT IT BACK TODAY AND WHEN I LEFT THE SHOP IT WAS OK, LATER IN THE DAY I RAN AN ERRAND AND WHEN I GOT IN TO COME HOME I DIDN'T HAVE ANY GEARS, NOTHING AND PUTTING IT IN PARK WAS VERY DIFFICULT. FINALLY GOT REVERSE AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF SHIFTING UP AND DOWN; PUT IT IN PARK AGAIN; AFTER MANY MANY ATTEMPTS I FINALLY GOT DRIVE BUT IN THE 2 POSITION ON THE SHIFTER. I HAD NOTICED THAT THE SHIFTER WAS REALLY LOOSE WHEN I FIRST GOT IN BUT THOUGHT PERHAPS IT WAS THAT WAY BEFORE BUT I JUST HADN'T NOTICED. GOT HOME AND HAD TO FORCE IT IN TO PARK AND THEN TRIED TO GO IN REVERSE OR DRIVE AGAIN AND HAD NOTHING.
IN 9/2013 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A METALLIC SOUND THAT OCCURRED WHILE IT WAS TURNING OR COASTING. DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE 4X4 MODULE WAS COMMANDING THE TRANSFER CASE TO ENGAGE WHEN NOT COMMANDED. THE DEALERSHIP RECEIVED AN IMPROPERLY RECOMMENDED MODULE FROM FORD. THEY ENDED UP USING A SPORT TRAC MODULE. THIS STOPPED THE NOISE BUT CAUSED THE TRACTION LIGHT TO COME ON. WE WERE ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE. IN 2/2014 WE REPLACED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE. ON 3/25/2014 THE TRANSMISSION LOST REVERSE AND FIRST GEAR AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD WILL NOT ADMIT THE WRONG PART WAS USED AND CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO GO. *TR
DRIVERS SEAT MOVED BACK AND FORTH AND INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, INCLUDING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. FIRST OCCURRENCE AT 40000MI. STARTED OUT HAPPENING ONLY OCCASIONALLY, THEN BEGAN MORE FREQUENTLY. NOTICED SOMETIMES OCCURRED WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. FINALLY ABLE TO RECREATE THE EVENT AT FORD WITH ENGINE RUNNING IN PARK BY TOUCHING THE KEYS. KEYS ARE A STANDARD KEY SET, NOT A HEAVY RING OF KEYS. MADE AT 61000MI THE FIRST FORD I WENT TO FOR THIS PROBLEM WAS IN SEVIERVILLE, TN. I PAID FOR DIAGNOSTICS, BUT NO CODES. I EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO THE IGNITION SINCE I HAD SEEN A SIMILAR RECALL ON GM VEHICLES. FORD SAID WOULD CHARGE LABOR TIME TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. I WAS THEN ABLE TO RECREATE PROBLEM IN LOT BY TOUCHING KEYS. I ALERTED SERVICE DESK AND WAITED 20 MIN WITH ENGINE RUNNING FOR A TECHNICIAN TO COME AND WITNESS THE PROBLEM. THEY FINALLY SENT THE GIRL THAT WORKS THE SERVICE COUNTER WHO SAID TURN IT OFF AND WE WILL PULL IT INTO THE BAY AND HAVE A TECHNICIAN TRY TO RECREATE IT IN THE MORNING, CONFIRMING THEY WOULD CHARGE LABOR TIME TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. SHE WAS VERY RUDE AND TOLD ME NO TECHNICIAN WAS GOING TO COME OUT AND THAT I COULD LEAVE THE CAR OR NOT, THEN STORMED INSIDE. I LEFT WITHOUT THE PROBLEM RESOLVED AND MADE AN APPT. AT THE NEXT CLOSEST DEALERSHIP 40 MILES AWAY NEWPORT, TN. I WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM FOR THE TECHNICIAN AT THE NEWPORT DEALERSHIP. THEY WERE VERY NICE AND PROFESSIONAL AND PERFORMED THE IGNITION REPAIR QUICKLY. *TR
DRIVING HOME AFTER PICKING UP DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL WHEN THE STEERING JUST GAVE OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR IN THE OPPOSITE LANE. *TR

THE IGNITION SWITCH IS ON THE STEERING COLUMN. MY KNEE TOUCHED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. ALL POWER,(STEERING, BRAKES, FORWARD MOTION), WERE IMMEDIATELY LOST. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE THEN. THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES, WHICH ALL SEEM TO BE RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE STEEL BOLTS WERE PLACED INTO AN ALUMINUM HEAD FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
BACK WINDOW FLIPPED OPEN WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT. WENT TO CLOSE IT AND THE HINGE CRACKED SO THE WINDOW WAS HANGING BY ONE HINGE. USING ALL MY STRENGTH I WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE WINDOW UP (EXTREMELY DIFFICULT GIVEN THE PUMP) AND CLOSE IT, ALTHOUGH NOT SECURE. THE WINDOW IS VERY HEAVY AND HELD BY A PLASTIC HINGE THAT COMPLETELY SNAPPED. THIS IS A PROBLEM CITED IN EARLIER MODELS, AND APPARENTLY FORD DID NOT RECTIFY THE ISSUE. PLASTIC IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD HEAVY GLASS. *TR
TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP AND MAKE A LOUD THUD SOUND WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN GEAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE 3RD AND 4TH GEAR WAS DAMAGED. I ALWAYS TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHEN NEEDED AND NOW THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY AND WON'T FIX THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. *TT

WHILE DRIVING 15MPH, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. UPON EXAMINATION, AFTER I PULLED OVER, I FOUND THE REAR WINDOW ON THE LIFTGATE HANGING BY ONLY THE LIFT SUPPORTS. THE PLASTIC HINGES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HOLD THE WINDOW IN PLACE SEEM TO BE CORRODED AND CRACKED IN THE MIDDLE. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN STANDING THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED OR IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN GREATLY INJURED. *TR
