TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD F150. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR OVER SEVEN HOURS, THE POLICE FOUND THE VEHICLE ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. ON TWO PRIOR OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SMOKING UNDER THE HOOD. TWO OTHER VEHICLES NEAR THE BURNING VEHICLE WERE DAMAGED. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 137,000. UPDATED 2/12/2008. *LJ THE CONSUMER HAD A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. UPDATED
EVER SINCE MY CRUISE CONTROL WAS REPAIRED ON MY 1994 F150 THE BATTERY KEEPS LOSING ALL ITS POWER. AS I DON'T DRIVE THE TRUCK THAT MUCH ANYMORE I JUST CHARGE THE BATTERY WHENEVER I USED MY TRUCK. MY TRUCK WAS REPAIRED AT ALL STAR FORD IN OLYMPIA WASHINGTON. *TR

THE FRONT BRAKE COMPONENTS ARE HAVING TO BE REPLACED ON AVERAGE OF 3 TIMES A YEAR. MAINLY PADS AND AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR RIGHT FRONT ROTOR. *TR
DRIVER SIDE REAR LEAF SPRING HANGER PREMATURELY DISINTEGRATED. CAUSING SPRING TO HIT BED WHILE DRIVE AT SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. DEALER SAY NOT A RECALL ITEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A FORD RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: CRUISE CONTROL IN AUGUST OF 2007. HE IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD DISCONNECT THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE SWITCH WAS NOT DISCONNECTED BECAUSE NO ONE INFORMED HIM OF WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD F-150 FORD. EIGHT YEARS AGO, THE CONTACT'S CRUISE CONTROL CONNECTOR WAS LEAKING. AN OLD-FASHIONED MASTER CYLINDER WAS PLACED ON HIS VEHICLE, WHICH WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH CRUISE CONTROL. SINCE THAT TIME, HE HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY RECEIVING RECALL NOTICES FROM FORD REGARDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). HE CALLED FORD AND WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED EIGHT YEARS AGO, THEY WOULD ONLY MAKE THE SAFETY RECALL REPAIR IF HE REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 250,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
INCIDENT DATE 7/24/2007; MILEAGE 158,487. PRODUCT FAILURE OF THE CIRCULAR STEERING SWITCH ON MY 1994 FORD F150 TRUCK. FAILURE OF THIS SWITCH DEACTIVATES THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND THE HORN. TWO PRIOR INCIDENTS OF SAME FAILURE ON 4/4/2001 MILEAGE 105,900 AND AGAIN ON APPROXIMATELY 5/11/2001. THESE FAILURES MAY INDICATE AN SYSTEMIC ISSUE POSSIBLY REQUIRING A VEHICLE RECALL PROGRAM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 1994 FORD F150. WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILED A REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEAF SPRINGS ON THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE OIL PAN WAS EXCESSIVELY RUSTED . THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR COST. THE CONTACT CALLED FORD, BUT NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE. HE STILL HAS POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 87,000. UPDATED 5/13/08 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE HANGERS THAT ATTACH TO THE LEAF SPRINGS TO THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK HAVE RUSTED, LEAVING THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS TO RIDE ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK BED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. FORD STATED THAT THE CONTACT WAS SENT A RECALL NOTICE FOR CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTION. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. AS A RESULT, THE SIDING OF THE HOUSE WAS BURNED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 160,000.AK
ON 3/24/07, OUR 1994 F150 TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE IN OUR PARKING LOT AT APPROXIMATELY 10:25PM. THE FIRE WAS REPORTED TO FORD CONSUMER AFFAIRS ALONG WITH PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT. A RECALL WAS RECENTLY PERFORMED ON THE TRUCK. FORD CONSUMER AFFAIRS NOTIFIED ME ON 4/19/07 THAT THE TRUCK WAS TOO BADLY DAMAGED TO DETERMINE ROOT CAUSE AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT PURSUE REPLACEMENT COST. MY 1994 FORD F150 WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY ON 2/9/07. IT CAUGHT FIRE AND DESTROYED THE WHOLE TRUCK AND ALSO CAUGHT MY NEARBY STORAGE SHED ON FIRE. I LOST THE TRUCK AND THE STORAGE SHED AND CONTENTS. *NM
I OWN A FORD RANGER 1994 WHICH FOR NO REASON BURNED WITH OUT FAILURE OR EVEN THE ENGINE RUNNING. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS CRUISE CONTROL ON HIS 1994 FORD F-150 STOPPED WORKING IN 2003 AT A FAILURE MILEAGE OF 170,000. THE CONTACT DIDN'T HAVE THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS AN ODOMETER READING OF 200,000 MILES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER, CAMPAIGN #05V388000 ON DECEMBER 19, 2006 FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL FAILURE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO NEWBURY FORD ON JANUARY 10, 2007 TO HONOR THE RECALL AND WAS DENIED DUE TO PREVIOUS RECALL NOTICES MAILED TO THE CONTACT ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT STATED THEY ONLY RECEIVED THE MOST RECENT RECALL NOTICE. *NM UPDATED 02/16/07. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 1994 FORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 12-30-06 THE CONTACT HAD DRIVEN THE TRUCK ABOUT A MILE UNDER DRY CONDITIONS WHEN SHE PARKED THE VEHICLE IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER (AERO FORD) THEY TOWED THE TRUCK, AND FOUND THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY RECALL ( 05V388000) VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO AND SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY SENT HER A RECALL NOTICE. *AK UPDATED 02/27/07. *JB
WITH THE TRUCK BEING OFF, SMOKE WAS RISING OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT WIRES LEADING TO THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH HAD SHORTED, CAUSING THE WIRES AND WIRE CONNECTORS TO HEAT, SMOKE AND PARTIALLY MELT. THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS NOW OPERATE CONTINUOUSLY WITHOUT BEING COMMANDED, THE TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK AND THE FLASHERS OPERATE CONTINUOUSLY. *CN
MY 1994 FORD F-150 WITH ONLY 58,000 MILES WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS AN ABSOLUTELY PERFECT CONDITION INSIDE AND OUT EXCEPT FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL, WHICH WAS NOT WORKING. I WAS LOOKING AT THE DEALER WEB SITE AND FOUND OUT MY VEHICLE HAD A RECALL. HOWEVER FORD NEVER SENT MY A RECALL NOTICE. *JB
CUSTOMER FEELS LIKE HE WAS CHEATED AT KING COUNTY AUCTION**CC THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD HE HAD 48 HOURS TO RETURN THE VEHICLE IF THERE WERE ANY PROBLEMS. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, HE WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE HAD VARIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. THE AUCTION BUSINESS STATED THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD AS IS. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER FILLING BOTH FUEL STORAGE TANKS, THE FUEL RECALCULATED AND OVERFILLED THE FRONT FUEL TANK WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE ALERTED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 00V424000, REGARDING THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
PAPERBOY KNOCKED ON DOOR AT 5AM SAYING TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. FIRE WAS SHOOTING OUT FROM UNDER HOOD. TRUCK HAD BEEN SITTING FOR 14 HRS WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN. FIRE ENGULFED WHOLE TRUCK BEFORE FIRE DEPT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH IT. THERE HAD BEEN NO PRIOR PROBLEMS.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE CAUSING MINOR BURN INJURIES TO THE CONTACT. THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECT CITED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS STRANDED 75 MILES AWAY FROM THE CONTACT'S HOME AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE DEALER WAS ALERTED WHO CONFIRMED THERE WAS RECALL ON THE VEHICLE BUT STATED THAT THE RECALL ONLY APPLIED TO REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT OF THE SPEED CONTROL. THE RECALL WOULD NOT APPLY TO OTHER PARTS THAT WERE DESTROYED BY THE FIRE WHICH WERE THE HARNESS WIRING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND MASTER CYLINDER. THE DEALERS ALSO DETERMINED THAT IT WOULD TAKE 7-10 DAYS TO RECEIVE A REPLY FROM THE CLAIMS DEPARTMENT OF THE MANUFACTURER TO BEGIN THE REPAIRS.
HAD NOT DRIVEN PICKUP FOR 2 WEEKS AND WAS SITTING UNDER CAR-PORT WHEN CAUGHT FIRE. THE PICKUP CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS A COMPLETE LOSS. *JB
SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE WITH FORD F-150. FRONT BRAKE LINE DRIVER'S SIDE FAILED AT TEE UNION DUE TO CORROSION. SHOP REPORTED ALL OTHER LINES IN FRONT WERE RUSTED. ALL LINES IN FRONT WERE REPLACED AND PARTS KEPT. *NM
94 F150 4X4 5.0L VIN N. FUEL FROM REAR TANK GOES TO FRONT TANK. I HAVE ON MORE THEN ONE OCCASION OPENED THE GAS CAP ONLY TO HAVE SOME GAS RUSH OUT AT ME. SOME GOT IN MY EYES. THIS COULD BE A POTENTIAL FIRE OR BLINDNESS. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY WHEN IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL DISCONNECTED UNDER RECALL #05V38800. AFTER THE DEALER DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE HORN BEGAN TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY, AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT DURING THE INITIAL DISCONNECTING OF THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH, THE BATTERY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED, BUT WASN'T AND THIS RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE CLOCK SPRING AND THE HORN ASSEMBLY. *AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE THE RESIDENCE. THE DAMAGE FROM THE FIRE WAS CONFINED TO THE ENTIRE FRONT END. THE POLICE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE CONTACTED, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE STARTED NEXT TO THE BATTERY ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. THERE IS A RECALL #05V388000 WHICH RELATES TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.*AK UPDATED 10/17/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WHEN IT SUDDENLY ERUPTED INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ALERTED. THE VEHICLE ALONG WITH PERSONAL ITEMS INSIDE THE TRUCK WERE DESTROYED. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ALERTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY; CONSUMER AFFAIRS DATED 5-1-06 STATING BECAUSE OF THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF A DEFECT WAS PRESENT.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND THE HORN WAS INOPERABLE. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 93V184000, REGARDING THE AIRBAGS. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER, IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WOULD NOT LOCK IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE SEAT FRAME WAS REPLACED. AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME THE REPAIR FAILED. THE FRAME WAS REPLACED FOR A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN ALERTED.
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS NHTSA RECALL 05V388000 CONCERNING THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: CRUISE CONTROL. THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. HE HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THIS CONCERN. *AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE REPAIRS ACCORDING TO RECALL LETTER # 05V388000. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART AND ONLY DISCONNECTED THE SPEED CONTROL. AFTER THREE MONTHS THE REPLACEMENT PART ARRIVED. THE PART WAS INSTALLED BUT FAILED AFTER DRIVING 55 MPH MILES ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP.
1994 FORD F-150. PARKED FOR OVER 24 HOURS CAUGHT FIRE UNDER HOOD. FIRE DEPT DETERMINED FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL AND STARTED AT ELECTRICAL CONNECTION ON END OF BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING AND OTHER PARTS UNDER HOOD, MADE OF PLASTIC AND RUBBER DESTROYED. TRUCK IS INOPERABLE AND PROBABLY DAMAGED BEYOND ITS VALUE. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V388000 CONCERNING THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTRO:CRUISE CONTROL. THE PARTS NEEDED FOR RECALL REPAIRS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. SHE SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER, WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. *AK
DT: CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SPRING HANGERS ON HIS VEHICLE RUSTED. THE CONSUMER WAS CHECKING BRAKES WHEN HE FOUND THE PROBLEM. HE HAD NO INDICATION OF THE FAILURE. DEALER OFFERED NO HELP AT THEIR EXPENSE. MANUFACTURER SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. *AK UPDATED 11/16/05. *JB
DT: CONTACT STATES THAT THE BRAKE LINE RUSTED ON THE MAIN LINE TO THE REAR BRAKES. THE CONTACT WAS GOING SLOW AND THE USED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. IT MADE A PIN SIZED HOLE, AND ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THEY TOLD HIM THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER SAID THEY COULD OFFER NO HELP, IT WOULD BE AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE TO FIXED. *AK UPDATED 11/16/05. *JB

ANOTHER PART WAS REPLACED BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL STILL DIDN'T WORK. MY 1994 FORD F150 HAD ENGINE FIRE ON SEPTEMBER 18 2005. ON SEPTEMBER 20 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD ON A CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH THAT CAUSES ENGINE FIRES. FORD RECENTLY SENT OUT 3.8 MILLION NOTICE THAT INCLUDED 1994 THROUGH 2002 F TYPE TRUCKS. I FILE A CLAIM WITH FORD ASKING FOR REPLACEMENT VALUE ( $4000) WITH NO LUCK. FORD SENT BE A LETTER THAT SAID THE DEFECT COULD NOT BE VERIFIED DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE. *JB
I PARKED MY 1994 F-150 XLT PICK-UP IN MY DRIVEWAY ABOUT 5:00 PM. SUNDAY 9-11-05, I WAS AWAKEN ABOUT 4:00 AM MONDAY 9-12-05 TO FIND MY TRUCK ON FIRE, MY WIFE CALLED 911 AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED IN ABOUT 15 MIN. AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY HOME. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 24 HOURS AND NOT DRIVEN. THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING A FEW MONTHS AGO. THERE WAS NO OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE OTHER THAN THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOK A REPORT ON THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSUMED THE CAUSE WAS ELECTRICAL. MY 1994 FORD F150 BURST INTO FLAMES WITH NO WARNING OR SIGNS OF A PROBLEM. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT 1994 FORD 150 WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL CROSSING OVER FROM ONE TANK TO THE OTHER. TANK. IF BOTH TANKS ARE FULL THE CHECK VALVE IS FAULTY AND WAS TRANSFERRING FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO ANOTHER. THUS, EXCEEDING THE CAPACITY OF THE OTHER TANK, AND LEADING TO A GAS SPILLAGE. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING ON THE ROAD WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE FLAGGED HIM DOWN AND INFORMED HIM THAT GAS WAS LEAKING OUT OF VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TALKED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AND THEY OFFERED NO FREE REMEDY. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONTACT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT BOTH FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP BASICALLY TOLD HIM TO TAKE A HIKE.*AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT 1994 FORD F-150 CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE FIRE MARSHAL DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE STARTED AROUND THE MASTER CYLINDER. THERE ARE PICTURES AVAILABLE . THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR OVER A WEEK. THE CONSUMER DID NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND COULD NOT CERTIFY THAT IT WORKED. A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS TAKEN AND THERE WAS AN INSURANCE COMPANY REPORT ON PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE GARAGE SUSTAINED SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD FORWARD ANY REPORT TO THE FORD LEGAL DEPARTMENT. THE FIRE MARSHAL WANTED TO GET IN CONTACT WITH AN ODI INVESTIGATOR. THE FIRE MARSHAL STILL HAS THE TRUCK AVAILABLE TO EXAMINE. *AK THE CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE AFTER THE FIRE HAD ALREADY OCCURRED (RECALL #05V388000). *NM*JB
DT: THE CONTACT S OWNS A 1994 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE IT WAS PARKED. HE DROVE THE VEHICLE THE PREVIOUS DAY, APPROXIMATELY 22 HOURS BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THERE WERE NO KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. *AK
DRIVING IN RESIDENTIAL AREA, ABOUT 25 MPH. APPLIED BRAKES, AND PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE OF NO BACK PRESSURE. I HAD JUST USED BRAKES AT A STOP SIGN JUST MINUTES BEFORE, NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEM. NO WARNINGS, LIGHTS, BUZZERS, NOTHING, JUST A SUDDEN TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES, FRONT AND REAR. UPON INVESTIGATING, FOUND ALL BRAKE LINES ON REAR OF VEHICLE CRUMBLING WITH RUST. I REMOVED ONE PIECE, IT BROKE COMPLETELY IN TWO DIFFERENT PLACES WHILE TAKING IT OUT. FUEL LINES APPEAR TO BE IN LIKE CONDITION. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED. AFTER I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE OFF, THEN RESTARTED IT, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS, AND ABS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THIS COULD HAVE HAD CATASTROPHIC RESULTS HAD IT HAPPENED ON THE OPEN ROAD. WHY NO PREVIOUS WARNINGS TO A BRAKE PROBLEM?*JB
DT: THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT CONSUMER'S HOUSE WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 24 HOURS SINCE CONSUMER DRIVE IT. PUT WATER ON THE FIRE SO IT WOULD NOT BURNTHE HOUSE.*AK
ON AUGUST 5TH, AFTER BEING PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS WITHOUT KEYS IN IGNITION AND UNTOUCHED BY ANYONE, OUR 1994 FORD F150 TRUCK BURST INTO FLAMES. IT WAS PARKED AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE BUT THE TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS. NO ONE WAS INJURED; THE ONLY LOSS WAS THE TRUCK ITSELF.
DT: THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH PREVIOUSLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. THIS OCCURRED ON AUGUST 1, 2005. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO YANK THE PLUG OFF. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER'S HAND TO GET SLIGHTLY BURNTAS WELL AS MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DAMAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH, MASTER CYLINDER, WIRING HARNESS, AND THE RESERVOIR. IT ALSO CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT OF THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. SINCE THE FIRE THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE BECOME INOPERATIVE. THE CONSUMER HAD CONTACTED A DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS.
