DT:04/10/05. VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN DRIVEWAY OF RESIDENCE. CONTACT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE OR WHERE IT BEGAN. MOSTLY BURNT ON THE LEFT SIDE, BLEW LEFT FRONT TIRE. CONTACT IS NOT SURE IF IT WAS ELECTRICAL OR FUEL FIRE.*AK REGULARLY SERVICED WITH SERVICE RECORDS AVAILABLE.
NORMAL DRIVING. STOPPED TO REFUEL. UPON ATTEMPTING TO OPEN REAR GAS CAP PRESSURE BLEW CAP OFF AND LARGE AMOUNT FUEL ALL OVER ME AND THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK. *AK CONDITION NOT REPAIRED AS YET.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 3 HOURS A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK *SC *JB
DT: CONTACT STATES: A FIRE STARTED WHICH WAS RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL MODULE SITTING ON THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THE FIRE STARTED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF IN A PARKING LOT BY ITSELF. SOME OF THE ENGINE EQUIPMENT BURNED. CONSUMER CONTACTED FORD ,AND FORD SAID THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL BECAUSE OF THE YEAR OF THE VEHICLE AND TBE VIN. CONSUMER PAID FOR THE REPAIR OF OUT OF HIS POCKET. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE FOR A FEW HOURS WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE ON ITS OWN. RESULTS SHOWED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH.*AK
NYS VEHICLE INSPECTION REQUIRES EMISSION TESTING ON 96 & NEWER MODELS. I HAD MY OXYGEN SENSORS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES & TWICE IN ONE YEARS TIME. THE OXYGEN SENSORS THAT FORD MAKES ARE DEFECTIVE. IT COSTS ME OVER $500 EACH TIME TO REPLACE THESE SENSORS. *AK
THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED. DRIVER CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED. *AK
CRUISE CONTROL WAS INOPERATIVE. DEALERSHIP INFORMED CONSUMER THAT CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH MELTED. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT SOMETIMES THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS TURNED OFF IT WOULD NOT COME BACK ON FOR A WHILE. *BF *NM
AFTER VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR ONE DAY A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
ON 1/10/05, I ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK AND PARKED MY VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 PM. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED UNDER THE CARPORT 15 FEET AWAY FROM MY BEDROOM WINDOW. AT 12:30 AM, MY WIFE AND I HEARD A NOISE, LOOKED OUT THE BLINDS TO FIND FIRE COMING FROM DRIVERS SIDE EDGES OF HOOD. ME AND MY SON RAN OUT TO GET A GARDEN HOSE AS MY WIFE CALLED 911. AS I WAS PASSING BY THE VEHICLE THE PAINT WAS BEGINNING TO BURN OFF DIRECTLY ABOVE THE BREAK BOOSTER. I BEGAN SPRAYING THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE RADIATOR GRILL, AS MY SON WAS TRYING TO POP THE HOOD. I SPRAYED AROUND THE EDGES, FLAMES WERE COMING OUT MOSTLY FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE. THEN THE DRIVERS SIDE PLASTIC TIRE WELL BURNED OUT ENOUGH, I WAS ABLE TO GET WATER UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT 12:34 AM. THEY POPPED THE HOOD USING THEIR CABLE TOOL AND BEGAN TO APPLY WATER. LUCKILY THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED WITHIN ABOUT 15 MINUTES, DUE TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS ONLY A COUPLE OF BLOCKS AWAY. BECAUSE OF THE QUICK RESPONSE OF EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE, YOU CAN DEFINITELY TELL WHERE THE FIRE ORIGINATED. AS YOU CAN TELL BY THE PICTURES I HAVE ENCLOSED, THE AIR FILTER ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE SUFFERED HEAT DAMAGE, BUT WERE NOT DESTROYED. ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE THE RUBBER HOSES AND FUEL LINES WERE STILL INTACT AND NOT BURNED. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED WAS THE BREAK FLUID RESERVOIR, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. WHEN THE FIREMAN EXAMINED IT, THEY THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE COME FROM THE WIRING HARNESS, THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THE BREAK FLUID RESERVOIR CATCH ON FIRE. I ONLY HAD LIABILITY INSURANCE ON THIS VEHICLE. DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE, I SOLD IT FOR SALVAGE ONLY. *JB
CRUISE CONTROL STARTED ACTING UP ONE DAY,. IT WOULD UNEXPLAINABLY DROP OUT PERIODICALLY, CAUSES VEHICLE TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE ON FREEWAY, RESULTING IN UNSAFE CONDITONS ON BUSY INTERSATE. NOW CRUISE CONTROL QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER.*AK
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT LATCH. IF THE VEHICLE BECOMES INVOLVED IN A CRASH. CONSUMER WOULD BE WITHOUT ANY RESTRAINT. DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.*AK
DUAL GAS TANKS. GAS IS PRESSURIZED FROM REAR TANK TO THE FRONT TANK, CAUSING A FUEL TRANSFER TO THE FRONT TANK, FRONT TANK IS OVERFILLING, GAS IS UNDER PRESSURE, SPILLING FROM THE OVERFLOW. WHEN THE CAP IS REMOVED, GAS EXPLODES FROM THE FILLER NECK. *AK
CONSUMERS 1996 F150 BURNED WHILE PARKED AND TURNED OFF. *TS THE FIRE REPORT STATED THE FIRE APPEARED TO HAVE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED ON 12-24-04 1996 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS SITTING STILL AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED. THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD. THE TRUCK WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT REPORTED HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK PRIOR TO THE FIRE. HE HAD NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL. THE CONTACT CALLED FORD SINCE 8-4-05 AND THEY KEPT SAYING THEY WILL CALL HIM BACK WITHIN 2-10 DAYS. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN A MONTH AND NO ONE HAS RETURNED THE CALLS. THE CONSUMER'S MOTHER WAS TAKING CAR OF ALL OF HER SON'S BUSINESS AFFAIRS WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK
FUEL FROM THE FRONT TANK IS OVERFLOWING FUEL INTO THE REAR FUEL TANK AND VICE VERSA. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO REPAIR OR WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE.

MY 1996 FORD F-150 CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED, TOTALING OUT THE PICKUP AND CAUSING EXTENTSIVE DAMAGE TO OUR HOUSE AND DRIVEWAY. *AK
FUEL LEAKS FROM THE FRONT TANK VENT CAP DOWN THE VEHICLE SIDE TO THE GROUND. OCCURS REGULARLY WHEN BOTH TANKS ARE FILLED AND REAR TANK IS USED FIRST. HAVE TO SWITCH BETWEEN TANKS FREQUENTLY TO KEEP CONTENTS FROM OVERFLOWING. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE DEAD YET? RECALL IT. *JB
I HAVE PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT ODI ID NUMBER 10110013 DATED 8-3-05. AT THIS TIME, I WILL INSIST THAT A SERIOUS CONSIDERATION BE GIVEN TO THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO WHEREBY- THE HORN IS IN PLAY THERE!!! I AM OF COURSE TALKING ABOUT RECALL #05V388000 (NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER) FORD F150 /SUV '95- '01 WITH CRUISE CONTROL FIRE POTENTIAL. THE FUSE (#13 AS LISTED IN THE MANUAL - CHECK OUT THE NUMBER OF ITEMS CONNECTED TO THAT ONE FUSE!) HAD BLOWN BEFORE A FIRE DESTROYED MY WHOLE TRUCK. THAT IS TO SAY I HAD SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. FORD SERVICE -MCCAFFERTY OF LANGHORNE, PA RECENTLY INSTALLED THE INLINE BANDAID AT THE MFG. REQUEST. MCCAFFERTY AGAIN LEFT ME TO THERE STREETS WITH AN OBVIOUSLY BURNED HARNESS/CRUISE SERVO PIN CONNECTIONS. (WITH THE HARNESS DISCONNECTED THERE IS NO HORN! CAN I STRESS THIS ENOUGH? MY POINT IS THIS - THE SERVICE TECHS' AND MANAGEMENT DON'T BELIEVE THAT THIS HARNESS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY HORN. QUESTION - DO THE ENGINEERS AT FORD FEEL THE SAME WAY? FROM TODAY'S INQUIRE ON THIS SITE THERE ARE UNCERTAINTIES AS TO WHAT ACTUALLY IS THE CAUSE. THIS COULD BE IT!!!! THE OWNERS GUIDE LISTS THE HORN TO BE CONNECTED AT #3 OF THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD. SO BE IT ! IT IS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE #13 FUSE UNDER THE DASH. THE CHART ON PG 357 OF THE MANUAL DOESN'T LIST THE HORN AS PART OF THE CIRCUITRY. IT IS HOWEVER CONNECTED TO THE HARNESS THAT IS CONNECTED TO THAT CIRCUITRY. ON A PERSONAL NOTE, I'D LIKE TO GET MY CRUISE CONTROL PARTS REPLACED - THEY WERE BURNED UP PRIOR TO THE RECALL OF MY '96 F150. MY TRUCK DIDN'T FLAME UP BUT I SMELLED BURNING. *NM
1996 FORD F150 FUSE BLOWN # 13 (IN DASH) BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE; SPEED CONTROL ASSOCIATED SENSORS. LOCAL FORD DEALER SERVICED 9-27-04 @ $510.30 TO DIAGNOSE SITUATION AND REMEDIED BY REPLACING THE WHOLE MASTER CYLINDER WHERE IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE SWITCH FROM THE SPEED CONTROL ON THIS BRAKE UNIT WAS BURNT. ADDITIONAL REMEDY WAS TO DISCONNECT THE WIRING HARNESS THAT CONTROLS THE SPEED CONTROL RENDERING MY HORN USELESS AS WELL. THE MALE HARNESS CONNECTOR IS PRESENTLY TAPED AS I WAS INSTRUCTED THAT HOOKING IT BACK UP WOULD CREATE THIS SAME FIRE HAZARD CONDITION. THEREFORE, I HAVE NO HORN AND MY SPEED CONTROL ISN'T WORKING EITHER. THE FUSE HASN'T BLOWN AND I DO HAVE BRAKE LIGHTS. ( PA REQUIRES THAT THE HORN WORK TO PASS SAFETY INSPECTION ) THE BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT FAIL ME AT ANY TIME OTHER THAN THIS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM (BLOWN FUSE) AND THE CHANGING OF THE MECHANICAL/HYDROLOGICS WAS NOT WARRANTED.*JB
CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE(04V35700)FOR A CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. DEALER WAS NOT IN OPERATION. *JB BRAKELINE RUSTED THROUGH AND CAUSED FLUID TO LEAK. *SC
ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2004, THE 1996 FORD F150 WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE AND CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE TULSA FIRE DEPARMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THEY REPORTED IT APPEARED TO BE ELECTRICAL AND UNDER THE HOOD
NOTICED REAR OF TRUCK WAS NOT LEVEL-NOTICED CONTROL DIFFERENCE ON CURVES IN ROAD. INSPECTED TRUCK AND FOUND RIGHT REAR SPRING SHACKLE RUSTED AWAY. PARKED TRUCK UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE. THE OLD PART IS STILL ON TRUCK. *NM
OUR TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT 4:00 IN THE MORNING. THERE WAS NO AFTER MARKET WIRING DONE ON THE TRUCK. WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW, AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH IT. THIS WAS NOT AN INSURANCE JOB. WE TOOK OUR FULL COVERAGE OFF OF IT WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR CAR. THE TRUCK IS AVAILABLE FOR AN INVESTIGATION.*AK
NEIGHBOR WOKE ME UP ABOUT 11:30 PM TELLING ME THAT MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 5 HOURS. THE FIRE WAS UNDER THE HOOD ON DRIVERS SIDE. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE AND IT'S MY PROBLEM.*AK
I SAW ON THE NEWS THE RECALL FOR 2000-2001 MODEL FORD 150 TRUCK, THE TRUCKS ARE CATCHING ON FIRE WHILE SITTING FOR HOURS. MY HUSBAND HAD A 1996 FORD 150- THAT DID THE SAME THING SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE TRUCK SIT THERE FOR 8 HOURS THEN CAUGHT ON FIRE AT 1:00 AM. THAT MORNING WHILE WE WERE IN BED. A FRIEND THAT WAS GETTING OFF WORK STOPPED AND WAKE US UP OUT OF BED. WAS IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS YEAR OF TRUCK. WE HAVE A FIRE MARSHALL COME OUT AND LOOK AT IT. IT WAS STARTED ALONG THE FIREWALL. WE HAD TO HAVE THE FIRE DEPT COME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. WE CONTACTED FOR AND THEY SAID MORE LESS SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK. *JB
MY WIFE CAME HOME FROM WORK, WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE AND NOTICE SMOKE DRIFING BY THE SLIDING GLASS WINDOWS. SHE WENT OUT ONTO THE BACK DECK AND SAW THAT THE 1996 FORD F-150 (4-WHEEL DRIVE) WAS ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. (AUGUST 9, 2004) THE TRUCK WAS PARKED AT THE BASEMENT LEVEL ON OUR HOUSE. SHE HEARD THE TRUCK REPEATLY TRYING TO START AS IF SOMEONE WAS IN SIDE, SHE THOUGHT THAT I HAD COME HOME AND SAW THE FIRE AND WAS TRYING TO MOVE IT AWAY FROM OUR HOUSE. SHE CALL 911. THE FRONT OF THE HOOD WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. SHE WENT TO THE BEDROOM WINDOW TO SEE IF I HAD PULLED UP BUT I HAD NOT ARRIVED HOME YET. SHE WENT BACK OUT OF THE DECK AND THE TRUCK WAS STILL TRYING TO START. THE FIRE HAD BROKE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND HAD MELTED THE TIRES. OUR SONS TRUCK WAS PARKED BESIDE IT. HE HAD DAMAGE TO THE HEADLAMPS, FRONT HOOD AND REAR VIEW MIRROR OF HIS TRUCK. THE VINYL SIDING WHICH WAS ON THE SECOND LEVEL OF OUR HOUSE HAD MELTED.WE HAD DRIVEN THE TRUCK ON SUNDAY AUGUST 8TH TO GET GROCERY. THE TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE THEN.THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN PARKED IN MY MOTHER-IN-LAWS CARPORT. SHE IS 79 YEARS OLD AND IS WIDOWED, HAS SLIGHT DEMENTIA AND LIVES ALONE AND IS NO LONGER ABLE TO DRIVE. IF THIS HAD OCCURRED IN HER CARPORT, HER HOUSE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE, WITH HER INSIDE.WE LIVE NEXT TO HER AND SHE WANTED TO KEEP THE TRUCK AT HOUSE BECAUSE SHE LIVES ON THE HIGHWAY.THE TRUCK HAD RECENTLY BEEN PAID OFF AND INSURANCE WAS DROPPED TO LIABILITY, SINCE IT WAS SELDOM EVER DRIVEN. THE TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOSS. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. I AM VERY INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT WHAT CAUSE THIS FIRE. WE HAVE TWO OTHER FORD VEHICLES. A 1996 FORD EXPLORER AND 1994 FORD THUNDERBIRD. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THESE VEHICLES.
2ND INCIDENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, HORN NOT WORKING CRUISE CONTROL MODUEL NOT WORKING, STEERING COLUMN CAUGHT FIRE. REMOVEED SHORTED POWER FEED TO CRUISE CONTROL. 1ST INCIDENT-ABS LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. SHIFTER WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK. NEEDED TO TOW VEHICLE, AND REPAIR BLOWN FUSE ON CRUISE CONTROL
1996 FORD F-150 DUAL GASOLINE TANKS, FRONT FUEL PUMP FAILURE CAUSES REAR FUEL TANK TO PRESSURIZE FRONT FUEL TANK, CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK FROM FRONT FUEL TANK FILL PIPE, FRONT TANK IS CAUSED TO BE OVERFILLED AND UNDER PRESSURE, UPON REMOVAL OF FRONT FILL CAP WITH OR WITHOUT VEHICLE IGNITION ON, GASOLINE IS RELEASED IN SPRAY AND LIQUID FORM APPROXIAMATELY 1/2 TO 1 GALLON OF GASOLINE AT A TIME CAUSING A SEVERE FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD. *AK
WHILE BEING PARKED VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CAUSE OF THIS WAS STILL UNDETERMINED.*AK
WHILE I WAS CHECKING THE OIL IN MY TRUCK THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH BURST INTO FLAMES. I NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL SO I NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT UNTIL I NOTICED THERE WERE SOME RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL YEAR. LUCKILY I HAD THE HOOD UP LOOKING AT SOMETHING ELSE WHEN IT HAPPENED SO ONLY THE PLASTIC ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WAS DESTROYED. TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM I REPLACED THE SWITCH AND JUST LEFT IT DISCONNECTED. I NO LONGER HAVE THE SWITCH THAT MALFUNCTIONED. I CANNOT BE SURE ABOUT THE INCIDENT DATE OR PURCHASE DATE, BUT I HAVE GIVEN AN APPROXIMATE ESTIMATE FOR EACH.

THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE TRUCK STARTED BURNING LATE AT NIGHT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR STATED THAT THE FIRE WAS COMPUTER RELATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY COMPUTER BOX. *SCC *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT 50 MPH AND WITH NO WARNING RIGHT REAR PASSENGER TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. CONSUMER HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, DAMAGING THE TRUCK FENDER. FIRESTONE, FR 480, SIZE# P235/75R15, DOT UNKNOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
SEPT. 5TH I ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH. I HAVE BEEN A LONG TIME SUPPORTER OF FORD, BUT THIS HAS TURNED ME SOUR. I HAVE A PUPPY THAT I PUT INTO THE CAB OF MY TRUCK. AS HE WAS MOVING TOWARDS THE PASSENGERS SEAT (ON THE FLOOR) HE MUST HAVE RUBBED HIS PAW UP NEXT TO THE BLACK BENCH SEAT FRAME. I ONLY FIGURED THIS OUT HOURS LATER AFTER BRINGING HIM HOME FROM THE EMERGENCY ANIMAL CLINIC. HE RECIEVED A CUT THAT WENT DEEP ENOUGH TO CUT A TENDON IN HIS FOOT AND PUT ABOUT A THREE INCH GASH IN HIS FOOT. AFTER EXAMINING EVERY POSSIBLY REASON FOR HIS INJURY I LOOKED IN THE TRUCK. LOW AND BEHOLD THE SEAT FRAME ON MY TRUCK IS RAZOR SHARP AND THERE IS BLOOD ALL OVER IT. I CAN BELIEVE THIS! I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NEW...THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ME, OR EVEN MY LITTLE DAUGHTER JUST BY MOVING THE WRONG WAY...IT COULD HAVE PUT A SERIOUS GASH IN ONE OF OUR FEET OR LEGS, OR EVEN WORSE A TENDON OR SOMETHING. ITS BAD ENOUGH IT HAPPENED TO OUR FIVE MONTH OLD PUPPY. I AM REALLY UPSET ABOUT THIS. ALONG WITH THE VET BILLS THAT ARE NOW GROWING AS WE SPEAK. I PLAN TO CONTACT FORD TO SEE IF THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR THESE BILLS AND ALSO FIX THIS PROBLEM IN THE TRUCK.

DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT 1996 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF IN THE CONSUMER'S DRIVEWAY. THE TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT TWENTY TO THIRTY MINUTES. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS USED THE DAY PRIOR TO TURNING OFF THE TRUCK. EVERYTHING ON THE TRUCK WAS IN WORKING ORDER. THERE WERE NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK. THE FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONSUMER COULD NOT TELL FOR CERTAIN THE LOCATION WAS WHERE THE FIRE STARTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TOLD THE CONSUMERS WHERE THE FIRE STARTED. A REPORTED WAS TAKEN BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE TO AN OUTSIDE BUILDING THAT THE CONSUMER OWNED. THE CONSUMER TOOK PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE AND COULD SUPPLY A COPY OF IF NEEDED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DID NOT GIVE ANY INDICATION OF WHAT STARTED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. *AK
THE CRUISE CONTROL CUT OUT SWITCH ON MY 1996 FORD F-150 CAUGHT ON FIRE BETWEEN NOON 7/23 AND 09:15 AM 7/24/2005 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED SWITCH OFF IN MY GARAGE. THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR REMAINED INTACT BUT WAS DAMAGED BY THE FIRE. IF IT HAD DUMPED THE FLUID I SHOULD HAVE LOST MY HOUSE ,MY CAR AND PROBABLY MY LIFE. THIS ITEM HAS RESULTED IN A RECALL ON SOME LATE MODEL TRUCKS AND SUV'S BUT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT THE SAME SWITCH AS THE RECALL UNITS WAS ON MY TRUCK. SYMPTOMS INCLUDED THE CRUISE CONTROL BECOMING INOPERATIVE A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THE FIRE. THANKS T HOGAN. *JB

THE HORN BUTTONS ON MY 1996 FORD F-150 ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PRESS WITHOUT TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD AND SCANNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCATE THEM. NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THEM IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. IN EVERY EMERGENCY SITUATION I HAVE EXPERIENCED, MY HANDS END UP PRESSING ON THE AIR BAG COVER AND THEN ON THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS. ONLY AFTER I HAVE NARROWLY AVOIDED A CRASH DUE TO NOT HAVING TIME TO LOOK DOWN AT THE STEERING WHEEL TO DISCOVER WHERE THE HORN BUTTONS ARE. THE HORN BUTTON LAYOUT COULD NOT POSSIBLY HAVE PROCEEDED THROUGH THE DESIGN AND TESTING PROCESS WITHOUT NUMEROUS WARNINGS AND COMPLAINTS BY THE TEST ENGINEERS AND OTHER ANALYST'S. FORD APPEARS TO HAVE LEFT THIS DESIGN FLAW IN PLACE TO AVOID AN EXPENSIVE REDESIGN OF THE 1996 MODEL F-150. IT WAS ONLY IN PRODUCTION FROM SEPTEMBER 1995 THROUGH DECEMBER 1995 THEN FORD INTRODUCED THE REDESIGNED 1997 MODEL IN JANUARY 1996. IT APPEARS THAT THEY OPTED TO SACRIFICE OPERATOR SAFETY IN THEIR RUSH TO MIGRATE TO THE NEW TRUCK DESIGN.*JB
WHEN FILLING FRONT FUEL TANK THE TANK WON'T ACCEPT ANY FUEL.WHEN SELECTOR SWITCH IS PUT ON THE FRONT FUEL TANK,FUEL GUSHES OUT OF THE FRONT FUEL PIPE IF THE CAP IS OFF.
FORD F150 1996 MODEL YEAR,300 CUBIC 6 CYLINDER WITH 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. VERY COLD MORNING STARTED TRUCK HAD IT IN GEAR PARKING BRAKE ON AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL ON THE FLOOR. STARTED ENGINE STILL HOLDING THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO THE FLOOR THE CLUTCH ENGAGED TRYING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD. SINCE THE BRAKE WAS ON THIS KILLED THE ENGINE. I LET UP ON THE CLUTCH TH PEDAL STAYED ON THE FLOOR . I KICKD THE PEDAL IT CAME BACK UP. I PUMPED THE PEDAL A FEW TIMES AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, IT WAS FINE THEN AND THE CLUTCH SEEMED FINE FROM THEN ON OUT. I DID CHECK THE CLUTCH FLUID IT WAS FINE. 2 YEARS LATER VERY COLD MORNING ABOUT 7 F THE CLUTCH DID THE SAME THING IT ENGAGED AND WOULD NOT RELEASE UNTIL IT HAD WARMED UP.
1996 F150 WITH LESS THAN 51,000 MILES, CLUTCH SEEMS TO BE GOING OUT. CAN NOT SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR WITHOUT GREAT FORCE, SAME WITH OTHER GEARS INCLUDING REVERSE. TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN USED SO CLUTCH WOULD BE UNDER EXTREME CONDITION. 2ND HAS ALWAYS BEEN HARD. *JB
I OWN A 1992 FORD F250 AND A 96 FORD F150. BOTH HAVE DUAL TANKS.ON BOTH VEHICLES THE FRONT FUEL GAUGE HAS STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND WHEN USING THE REAR TANK IT TRANFERS FUEL TO THE FRONT TANK RESULTING IN FUEL SPILLING OUT.WITH THE GUAGES NOT FUNCTIONING THERE IS NO NOTICE OF WHEN THE FRONT TANK IS OVERFILLING.THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AS WELL AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE.I HAVE SPOKE TO THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS PERSON AT OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT A DEALER ISSUE.I HAVE INSERTED AN INCIDENT,HOWEVER THE PROBLEM IS A RECURRING PROBLEM.*AK
