TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, SHE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. NO FUEL WAS LOST. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE FUEL TANK STRAPS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,841 UPDATED 11/02/11
3 SEPARATE INCIDENTS OF BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO ROTTED/RUSTED BRAKE LINES. LUCKILY THE INCIDENTS HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. IF I WAS GOING FASTER THIS COULD HAVE HAD DEADLY CONSEQUENCES! SINCE THEN, ALL BRAKE LINES HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH STAINLESS STEEL LINE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. EVERY PROBLEM THAT I HAVE HAD WITH THIS TRUCK (AND THERE WERE MANY) CAN BE TRACED BACK TO CATASTROPHIC METAL FATIGUE! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS MANUFACTURERS CONTINUED USAGE OF SUBSTANDARD AND/OR POORLY DESIGNED MATERIALS!!!! *TR
ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN IDLING AND ACCELERATING ROUGHLY FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AFTER ABOUT A DAY. THE PROBLEM WOULD STOP AND THE LIGHT WOULD GO OUT BEFORE I HAD THE CHANCE TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP. THIS LAST TIME, MARCH 27, 2009 IT HAD BEEN RAINING FOR A DAY OR TWO. I WENT TO START THE TRUCK AND THE ENGINE WAS IDLING AND ACCELERATING ROUGHLY AGAIN. UPON TAKING IT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR TWO COIL PACKS HAD FAILED AND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE RAIN RUN OFF FROM THE VEHICLE DRIPPED ONTO THE REAR TWO COIL PACKS AND WOULD CAUSE PREMATURE FAILURE. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT ABOUT 71,000 MILES AND WAS REPAIRED AT JUST OVER 72,000. *TR
I HAVE A 1999 F-150 AND ONE OF THE GAS TANK STRAPS RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE. THE TANK DID NOT FALL BUT I HAD TO HAVE BOTH OF THE STRAPS REPLACED. I'M ONLY NOW WRITING BECAUSE I SAW THEY HAD OPENED AN INVESTIGATION FOR A RECALL. *TR
WENT OUTSIDE TO START MY TRUCK 1999 FORD F-150 5.4L. AS SOON AS I STARTED THE TRUCK I HEARD A LOUD BANGING, SHUT THE TRUCK OFF, OPEN THE HOOD, AND A SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT THE HEAD RIPPING ALL THE THREADS OUT AND BREAKING THE COIL. SO NOW MY $14000 TRUCK IS USELESS. MY ONLY OPTIONS INCLUDE $3000 FOR NEW HEADS OR A HELI COIL KIT WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY ALLOW THE SAME PROBLEM OR WORSE TO OCCUR. *TR
MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE STORE AND WHEN HE CAME OUT, OUR TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPT. SAID IT WAS ELECTRICAL. *TR
FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN ENCOUNTERING SUCCESSIVE DIPS OR POTHOLES AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40 AND 60 . REPLACED TIRES,SHOCKS, TIE ROD ENDS, STEERING BOX, AND LINKAGE. CONSTANTLY VERIFYING TIRE PRESSURE, WHEN THIS OCCURS DAILY I MUST SLOW TO A CRAWL OR SHAKE THE STEERING WHEEL FROM TEN TO TWO TO MAKE IT QUIT. CANT AFFORD TO REPLACE ANYTHING ELSE THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK TOTAL THUS FAR IS IN THE 900'S. *TR
ABS FAILURE ON A FORD 1999 F-150. I HAVE HAD THE ABS FAIL TWICE AND THIS TIME IT HAS BEEN IN THE FORD DEALERS SHOP FOR OVER 30 DAYS. IT IS AT MORRISTOWN FORD IN MORRISTOWN,TN.37814. EACH TIME MY BRAKES HAVE FAILED AND ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS TIME THIS REPAIR WAS NOT AT MY FAULT, SERVICE WRITER STATED IT HAD MOISTURE IN THE MODULE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED? MORRISTOWN REPLACED THIS MODULE IN AUG. 2007, I FEEL I WAS SOLD A DEFECTIVE PART AND NOW THE ABS MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $600.00. I FEEL FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR SINCE THE PART THAT WAS REPLACE MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE SINCE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME IT WAS MISSING GREASE THAT SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED MOISTURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED SORENESS AND THE PASSENGER HAD TO HAVE A STAPLE PLACED IN HIS HEAD AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING PROTECTED BY THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AFTER THE CRASH. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
THE BLEND DOOR THAT SEPARATES THE COLD AIR FROM THE HOT AIR BREAKS CAUSING NO HOT AIR TO BE RELEASED. THEREFORE NOT LETTING YOU DEFROST YOUR WINDSHIELD. THE WHOLE DASH HAS TO BE COMPLETELY REMOVED TO REPLACE THIS FREQUENTLY BREAKING PART. APROX $1100 IN DEALER REPAIRS. I HAVE FOUND IN NUMEROUS FORUMS AND ASKING DEALER TECH'S THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IF FORD PRODUCTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F150. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE ABS MODULE. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PART DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER DISCONTINUING THE COMPONENT. THE TECHNICIAN ATTEMPTED TO SEARCH THE SALVAGE YARD FOR A USED PART, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY INOPERATIVE AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 86,000. I WAS ON A TRIP IN ALABAMA TRAVELING SOUTH ON I-85 ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2008. I STOPPED FOR A BREAK JUST NORTH OF MONTGOMERY. WHEN I GOT ON THE ON RAMP TO I-85, MY LEFT FRONT TIRE SUDDENLY WENT FLAT. I REPLACED THE WHEEL WITH THE SPARE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE WHEEL HAD BEEN RIPPED OPEN. I DROVE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER IN MONTGOMERY WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THAT A BRAKE CALIPER BOLT HAD COME OUT AND CAUSED THE BRAKE CALIPER TO RIP THE WHEEL APART. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE BEEN ON THE ON RAMP RATHER THAN TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MILES AN HOUR. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THE SAME CALIPER BOLT HAS COME OUT. THE LAST TIME WAS IN ONEONTA ALA AND WAS REPLACED BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IN ONEONTA. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE DEATH OF TWO PEOPLE. *TR
HAD JUST PULLED OUT FROM INTERSECTION ONTO MAIN ROAD WHEN TRUCK DEVELOPED A SEVERE MISFIRE. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND UPON INSPECTION FOUND THE THIRD SPARK PLUG ON THE RIGHT SIDE HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE HOLE. WE TOOK IT TO A GARAGE LESS THAN A BLOCK AWAY AND THEY WERE ABLE TO INSTALL A NEW PLUG AND COIL PACK BUT SOME OF THE THREADS IN THE HEAD HAD BEEN DAMAGED. WE WERE TOLD THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW LONG IT WOULD HOLD. OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A PROBLEM ON THE FORD TRITON ENGINES AND THINK A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED .THANK YOU *TR
FORDS RECALL OF F150'S FOR DEFECTIVE LEAKING CRUISE CONTROL CUT-OUT SWITCHES DOES NOT TOTALLY FIX THE PROBLEM BY THEM JUST ADDING AN INLINE FUSE FOR THE FIRE PROBLEM. THE PRESSURE SENSITIVE SWITCH IS SCREWED INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND EVEN IF THE FUSE BLOWS DISABLING THE CRUISE CONTROL BY REMOVING THE 12 VOLTS GOING TO IT THE BRAKE FLUID CAN STILL LEAK OUT OR BE FORCED OUT BY BRAKE FOOT PEDAL PRESSURE (WHICH IS VERY HIGH) THRU THE DEFECTIVE SWITCH SEAL ONTO THE SUPER HEATED EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSING IT TO CATCH FIRE, AND/OR ENOUGH BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT CAUSING AIR TO BE SUCKED INTO THE MASTER CYLINDER CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE, AND/OR ENOUGH BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE. THIS IS A "TYPICAL" FORD KLUDGE REPAIR TO SAVE MONEY AT PEOPLE'S LIVES EXPENSE. PAYING LAWSUITS APPEARS TO BE MORE COST EFFECTIVE IN FORDS EYES. THEY HAVE PULLED THIS CRAP FOR AT LEAST THE 30+ YEARS I CAN REMEMBER GOING BACK TO THE EXPLODING FORD PINTO'S. MY CURRENT 1999 FORD F150 IS THE LAST FORD I'LL EVER BUY, PERIOD !!!*TR
FORD 1999 F-150 SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT & POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGE 91,132 MILES. TRUCK NOT FIXED YET, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING ESTIMATES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD WHILE PARKED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE AND CONCLUDED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WILL REPLACE THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 112,000. UPDATED 09/04/08 *BF UPDATED 09/09/08. *JB
1999 FORD F150 . FORD PUT ALUMINUM HEADS IN THESE VEHICLES. THEY FOUND OUT THAT THEY WERE SHOOTING OUT THE SPARK PLUGS. THEY HAVE NEVER RECALLED THIS. IN THE PAST 4MOS, WE HAVE HAD 4 SPARK PLUGS SHOOT OUT. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED, IT COST 300.00 TO REPAIR AND 200.00 FOR TOWING. NOT INCLUDING THE MONEY LOST IN WAGES, RENTING A VEHICLE ETC. I CONTACTED FORD AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THEY SAID THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THIS AND THAT WAS PRETTY MUCH THE END OF THIS. THE DEALER SHIP WE TOOK THIS TO, SAID THEY SEE A LOT OF THESE. IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE ALUMINUM HEADS AND FORD RECOGNIZES THIS NOW AND CHANGED IT. WELL, THEY DID NOT CHANGE IT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO STILL HAVE THESE TRUCKS. THIS SITUATION IF VERY FRUSTRATING TO ME AS A CONSUMER. THIS COULD POSSIBLY BLOW THE ENTIRE ENGINE. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EVEN 10YRS OLD. THERE ARE 4 MORE SPARK PLUGS THAT COULD GO YET. WE DO NOT HAVE THE EXTRA MONEY TO KEEP STICKING INTO THIS TRUCK AND WE ARE IN NO FINANCIAL SITUATION TO BUY ANOTHER ONE AT THIS POINT. WE HAVE TO GET BY WITH WHAT WE HAVE, BUT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE DEALING WITH THIS MESS. IN MY OPINION AND OTHERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT, FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. HE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. A FIRE FIGHTER EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING FORD. MY 1999 FORD F150 EJECTED A SPARK PLUG - DAMAGING OTHER PARTS AS IT EJECTED - THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT NEEDS A RECALL A FIRE CAN EASILY HAPPEN IN THIS SITUATION. *TR
I WENT TO DRIVE MY 1999 FORD F-150 LAST NIGHT, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. NO PREVIOUS SYMPTOMS WERE EVIDENT. UPON INSPECTION, IT IS EVIDENT THE BRAKE LINE ALONG THE FRAME TO THE REAR WHEELS BURST DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION. FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWED THAT ALL OF THE OTHER BRAKE AND FUEL LINES ON THE TRUCK ARE ELECTROPLATED, AND MAINTAIN A SILVERY NON CORRODED FINISH. HOWEVER THIS LINE ALONG THE FRAME IS OBVIOUSLY UNPLATED, FLAKING CHIPS OF RUSTED STEEL, RESULTING IN FAILURE. WHETHER IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW, OR MANUFACTURING OVERSIGHT, THE UNPLATED BRAKE LINE COULD HAVE HAD SEVERE CONSEQUENCES. *TR
WHILE MY TRUCK WAS IDLING IT CAUGHT FIRE THE FIRE MARSHALL SAID IT WAS A RESULT OF THE FUEL ARM BROKE. *TR
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT AND BROKE BOOT WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT STILL SPRAYS GAS OUT AND COULD START A FIRE.THEN A MONTH LAITER IT DID THE SAME THING WITH ANOTHER PLUG NOT THE SAME PLUG AS THE FIRST TIME.HAD TO BUY A THREADER KIT AND NEW BOOT AND NEW PLUGS DID IT MYSELF IT HAS HAPPEN 2 TIMES AND WILL MOST LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN IM AFRAID IT WILL START A FIRE BECAUSE IT SPRAYS GAS OUT THE PLUG HOLE AND YOU HAVE A SPARK PLUG BOOT THERE SENDING SPARK TO THE PLUG. *TR
1999 FORD F150 5.4L V8 BLEW OUT THE NUMBER FOUR (4) SPARK PLUG LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE REAR. PERSONAL RESEARCH HAS TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO A "FACTORY DEFECT" (FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT ADMIT THIS) OF NOT HAVING ENOUGH THREADS IN THE HEAD TO HOLD THE PLUG. RECOMMENDED REPAIRS INCLUDE REPLACING THE HEAD, WHICH IS $2,500 JOB. I AM USING A THREAD TAPPING DYE WITH AN INSERT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. IT IS STILL NOT PUT BACK TOGETHER AT THIS TIME. IN MY OPINION, FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THE HEADS ON THE 5.4L MOTORS FOR ANY AND ALL YEARS THAT HAVE HAD THESE BLOW-OUT PROBLEMS. *TR
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF #3 CYLINDER IN THE HEAD OF A 1999 FORD F-150. *TR
I HAVE A 1999 FORD F-150, 5.4L V-8 TRITON. IT HAS SPIT THE NUMBER EIGHT SPARK PLUG TWICE, AND NOW THE NUMBER SEVEN PLUG HAS BEEN EJECTED MULTIPLE TIMES. LUCKILY, MY WIFE AND KIDS WEREN'T WITH ME WHEN THESE EVENTS HAPPENED. AFTER THE FIRST TIME, AND MUCH READING AND RESEARCH, AND THE FACT THAT YOUR OFFICE WILL NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THEM IN MY TRUCK. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME, IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY, THE COIL PACK OR SPARK PLUG WILL BE EJECTED RIGHT INTO THE FUEL RAIL AND THE COIL PACK WILL STILL BE SPARKING AND CAUSE A FIRE. I REALLY APPRECIATE YOURS AND FORDS HELP WITH THIS, AS I AM A DISABLED VET ON A FIXED INCOME AND CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT THIS TIME; SO MY TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR OVER TWO MONTHS. MAYBE SOME DAY SOMEONE WILL REALIZE THE DANGERS HERE AND HELP US! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F150. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS WHEN THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. A FEW SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. HE WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES AND NOTICED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE A LETTER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 170,000.
SPARK PLUG / CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE (VERY COMMON PROBLEM) 1999 FORD F150 WITH THE TRITON 5.4L V8, COST TO REPAIR WAS NEARLY $1000.00. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. CRUISE LIGHT ON PANEL WOULD LIGHT UP AND TURN IMMEDIATELY OFF AND CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT COME ON. NOTICED SMOKEY SMELL ONCE OR TWICE, BUT NEVER REALLY BAD. WENT OUT TO LUNCH AND LEFT TRUCK IT WAS FINE CAME BACK LATER TO THE SMELL OF SMOKE. DROVE 4 MILES TO DEPT. STORE SMELL GOT STRONGER. THOUGHT IT WOULD BE OK WITH TRUCK SHUT OFF, CAME BACK OUT TO LEAVE AND SMOKE SMELL WAS GREATER THAN EVER. OPEN HOOD AND TOUCHED AROUND MASTER CYLINDER AND DEFECTIVE SWITCH SMOKE BEGAN AGAIN BUT ALOT WORSE. UNPLUGGED SWITCH FROM MASTER CYLINDER AND SMOKE STOPPED. *TR
BLEW OUT SPARKPLUGS AND BROKE BRACKET ON THE SIDE OF COIL PACKS. DON'T LIKE PAYING $85 A POP FOR FORD'S POOR DESIGN. PLUS THE HEALY COILS OR MAYBE THAT'S THE MOTIVE. THIS HAPPENED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN DECEMBER OF 2007. THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS DISCONNECTED AT THAT TIME. SHE CALLED BACK IN DECEMBER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE UNAVAILABLE UNTIL MARCH OF 2008. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
I PURCHASED THIS FORD F150 1999 ABOUT SEVEN YEARS AGO. I HAVE NOTICED FROM THE FIRST TIME I DROVE IT, WHEN I FIRST START IT UP I HEAR A SERIES OF DINGS (LIKE ONES YOU WOULD HEAR FOR SEAT BELT NOT FASTENED), BUT THE SEAT BELTS ARE FASTENED. MY RADIO SOMETIMES HAS POWER AND WORKS, OTHER TIMES IT HAS NO POWER TO COME ON. SOMETIMES MY ODOMETER IS ON AND I CAN READ MY MILEAGE, MOST OF THE TIME ITS OFF. SOMETIMES WHEN THE BLOWER FAN IS BEING USED IT DOES NOT GO OF WHEN THE IGNITION KEY IS TURNED OFF AND REMOVED, THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS PROBLEM IS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. I HAVE HEARD ON OCCASIONS, A CLICKING SOUND BEHIND THE DASHBOARD AREA, AGAIN THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THIS PROBLEM STOP WAS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS. I FEAR IT MAY LEAD TO, OR CAUSE A FIRE SOMEHOW. MOST OF THE TIME I CAN LEAVE MY TRUCK PARKED, AND START IT UP THE NEXT DAY, SOMETIMES AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT THE BATTERY IS MYSTERIOUSLY DRAINED DEAD THE NEXT MORNING. I HAVE BEEN DILIGENT TO MAKE SURE I HAVE LEFT NOTHING ON THAT COULD IN ANY WAY DRAIN THE BATTERY. I FEAR THESE ARE MANUFACTURER PROBLEMS, DO I HAVE ANY OPTIONS TO GET THESE ISSUES REPAIRED? *TR

THE MECHANIC FELT THAT THE STRAPS WERE NOT ADEQUATE FOR THE FUEL TANK AND HE MADE THE REPLACEMENT. THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES. EACH TIME, HE WOULD INSTALL A NEW PLUG AND IGNITION COIL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. FRONT ANTILOCK SENSOR DEFECTIVE AND CAUSES AN ADDITIONAL 15 FOOT ROLL BEFORE STOPPING. IT NEARLY CAUSED ME MY LIFE. AND IF I WAS HIT BY THAT DUMPTRUCK IT WOULD HAVE LOOKED LIKE I JUST MADE A MISTAKE. I GOT THE NEW SENSOR INSTALLED AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS AN UPGRADE AND NEEDED BOTH SENSORS INSTALLED TO AVOID THIS. I'M VERY HAPPY I DIDN'T GO TO A LOCAL GARAGE. I FIRST NOTICED THAT MY AIR BAG DASH LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. I DECIDED THAT IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED IN THAT I DO TRAVEL QUITE A BIT FOR WORK ON HEAVILY TRAVELED HIGHWAYS HERE IN INDIANA. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BUTLER FORD HERE CLOSE TO MY RESIDENCE AND ASK THAT THE WARNING LIGHT ON BE REPAIRED ALONG WITH A FORD RECALL #05S28 AND A WINDSHIELD WIPER PROBLEM. WHEN I RETURNED FOR THE VEHICLE THE WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL BLINKING BUT THE OTHER TWO ITEMS HAD BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. I WAS HANDED A BILL FOR 126 DOLLARS AND THE FLASHING LIGHT WAS NOT FIXED. THE REPAIR BILL STATED "PASS SIDE AIR BAG SWITCH SHORTED. NO FURTHER ACTION WAS TAKEN TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *TR
1999 FORD F-150 WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY, WHEN A FIRE STARTED UNDER HOOD. ORIGIN SEEMS TO BE AT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. ALL PLASTIC COMPONENTS UNDER HOOD MELTED AND WIRING WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. *JB
1999 FORD F-150 WHILE ON A SHORT TRIP OUT OF TOWN I EXPERIENCE ALMOST COMPLETE, SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE. UPON SIDE OF THE ROAD INSPECTION, I FOUND LEFT REAR BRAKE LINE FAILED WITH BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING ON THE PAVEMENT. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED THROUGH. HE REPLACED THE BROKEN LEFT REAR AND THE BADLY RUSTED RIGHT REAR. *JB
HAVE A 1999 F150 THAT HAS A FIX RECORDED FOR THE HEAD GASKET, BUT HAS NO RECALL. EVEN THOUGH FORD KNOWS THERE IS A FAULT, AND SHOULD TAKE CARE OF OR REPAY THE CONSUMER FOR FIXING, SINCE FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM. *AK
