AFTER CAR WAS DRIVEN TO WORK APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES. MY EMPLOYERS SECURITY DEPARTMENT NOTIFIED ME THAT MY CAR HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE, WHILE PARKED ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF AFTER ARRIVING TO WORK. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND PUT OUT FIRE, AND IT RELEASED A REPORT STATING FIRE DEFINATELY STARTED IN UNDER THE THE HOOD IN ENGINE AREA.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD FOCUS. THE VEHICLE'S RIGHT WHEEL MADE A LOUD NOISE AND VIBRATED WHILE IN MOTION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS. THE WHEEL IS CURRENTLY WOBBLING AND MAKING A POPPING AND CRACKING NOISE. THE MECHANIC HAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. SAFETY CAMPAIGN # 01I017000(WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS) INVOLVES THE SAME FAILURE, HOWEVER, THE CAMPAIGN EXPIRED ON DECEMBER 31, 2002. THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT WILLING TO PERFORM THE REPAIR FOR FREE. THE VIN IS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 153,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BED. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, BUT FAILED TO BRING IT TO THE MECHANIC WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE PERFORMED WITHOUT THE RECALL NOTICE. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT ENDURED PROPERTY DAMAGE DUE TO THE HEAT FROM THE FIRE. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
TIE ROD FAILURE, BALL SEPERATED FROM SOCKET. *AK
APPROXIMATELY 10:30 AM ON 3/10/07, FORD F150 2000 MODEL SPONTANEOUSLY ERUPTED IN FLAME SOMEWHERE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN USED SINCE APPROXIMATELY 5:30 PM THE PREVIOUS DAY. WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. MOST OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT APPEARS TO BE DESTROYED. *JB
2000 WINDSTAR. ABS LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. HAVE HAD CAR LOOKED AT 4 TIMES AND TOLD "PROBLEM" (A SEAL IN THE MECHANISM) WAS REPLACED AND PROBLEM FIXED. BUT IT'S NOT - ABS LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. EXPENSIVE TO "FIX". ALSO, BRAKE FLUID LEAKS AND HAVE HAD TIMES WHEN DRIVING AND BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING AND DELAYED STOPPING. LUCKILY HAVE NOT HAD ACCIDENTS WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED. HAVE ALSO HAD BRAKE PADS WEAR OUT - NO PRE-WARNING ON THIS MODEL WINDSTAR WHEN BRAKE PADS ARE WEARING OUT. HAD TO HAVE BRAKE PADS REPLACED, AND ROTORS REPLACED - AGAIN AND EXPENSIVE FIX TO A PROBLEM WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, BRAKES KEEP SQUEALING WHEN BRAKES APPLIED - AM TOLD THIS IS AIR IN THE LINES (HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT LINES FLUSHED BUT PROBLEM STILL KEEPS HAPPENING). ALSO, WHEN STEERING AFTER THE LAST TIME ABS LIGHT PROBLEM "FIXED" THERE IS A GRATING STEERING NOISE WHENEVER WHEEL IS TURNED. WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT - BUT PROBLEM WITH ABS STILL EXISTS AND I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER $700. BILL TO "FIX" PROBLEM. 2000 WINDSTAR SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS ABS PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE BY FORD. AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED WITH THIS PROBLEM - AND FEEL THAT I AND MY CHILD ARE DRIVING IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL IN MAY OF 2007. HE NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED, BUT THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN A PARKING LOT. HE CALLED THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE DEACTIVATION SWITCH DISCONNECTED, BUT HAS NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 130,000.
FORD 2000 EXPITITION CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND OCCURED IN MY DRIVEWAY AROUND 7AM AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ON AND THE LAST TIME USED AROUND 10:30 PM THE PREVIOUS NIGHT. *NM
I BOUGHT A 2000 FORD F150 SAT AT NOON PARKED IT 1:15 SUN 3:00 AM IT WAS BURNED TO THE GROUND FIRE CHIEF SAID CRUISE CIRCUIT LIKELY, FORD REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING, CAR LOT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING, OTHER CAR DAMAGED I AM OUT $4000 . *JB
ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING 60-65 MPH I STARTED FEELING A VIBRATION. PULLED OFF TO CHECK TIRES AND SEEN NOTHING OBVIOUS BUT COULD SMELL SOMETHING HOT. PULLED INTO WELL LIT PARKING GARAGE. FOUND REAR DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE LOCKED ON TO TIRE. THE INVOICE STATES 'DRIVER REAR PARKING BRAKE CABLE WAS NOT RELEASING. HAD TO TEAR APART THE DRIVER REAR DRUM ASSEMBLY AND UNHOOK CABLE FROM SHOES. HAD TO UNLOAD SPRING TENSION ON PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IN ORDER TO UNHOOK CABLES. WHEN DRIVERS REAR CABLE REMOVED IT WAS LOCKED UP. *JB
MY TRUCK, OWNED BY MY COMPANY, HAD BEEN SITTING IN THE ALLEY WHERE I WAS WORKING NOT RUNNING. THE 2000 FORD F-150 EXT -CAB 2-WD PICKUP CAUGHT FIRE FOR NO REASON, THE FIRE STARTED AT THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WELL AT THE HOOD LEVEL,ONCE THE FIRE STARTED THERE WAS NO STOPPING IT. I WAS LUCKY THE FIRE CAUSED NO DAMAGE TO PEOPLE OR OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY. THE TRUCK HAD A RECALL ISSUE WITH THE SPEED CONTROL MODULE, THIS TRUCK WAS LISTED WITH FORD ON THE WEB SITE. I NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTICE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD, WE WILL SEE. THIS IS A SMALL COMPANY WITH LIMITED FUNDS, NOT INSURED FOR THIS, MY OWN FAULT.*JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHAFT IN THE STEERING GEAR BOX TO THE PITMAN ARM SNAPPED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND CAUSED THE CRASH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. 2000 FORD F-150 PICK UP CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY IGNITION OFF. *JB
MY 2000 FORD F-150 BURNED TO A CRISP LAST NIGHT. I HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE AND PARKED IT IN MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS INSIDE PUTTING THE GROCERIES AWAY WHEN I HEARD A "BOOM" OUTSIDE AND WHEN I RAN OUT I OBSERVED A FIRED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS TOTALED. THERE WAS SOME MINOR DAMAGE TO MY RESIDENCE AND I NOW HAVE A REALLY COOL LOOKING GARBAGE CAN FROM THE HEAT OF THE FIRE. FRIENDS INFORMED ME TODAY THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS RECALLS, AND SIMILAR INCIDENTS, BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD ABOUT ANY RECALLS. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS BESIDES CONTACTING MY INSURANCE COMPANY(S)? *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER DUE TO A VERY LOUD NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. THE REPAIR MECHANIC INSTALLED A HELICOIL IN THE THREADS OF THE CYLINDER HEAD AND REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG COIL. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON THE DEALER'S LOT AND CAUGHT FIRE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DAMAGED THE WIRE HARNESS, SPEED CONTROL, AND THE ENGINE. IN OCTOBER 2006 THE CONTACT REQUEST THE DEALER HONOR NHTSA RECALL #05V388000 (FORD RECALL #05S28) PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THE DEALER WOULD NOT COVER THE RECALL STATING THE CONTACT NEVER RESPONDED TO THE RECALL NOTICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NEVER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE. *AK

TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE GAS TANK UNATTACHED ITSELF FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH WHEN THE STRAPS HOLDING THE GAS TANK CAME OFF. THE TANK FELL TO THE GROUND, AND HE WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT, THE CONDITIONS ON 12-24-06 WERE DRY. WAS ON A SLICK ROAD. I WAS GOING 15 MILES AN HOUR, WHEN MY 2000 FORD F-150 SPUN COMPLETELY AROUND. WHEN THE TRUCK SPUN AROUND IT WENT TOWARDS THE DITCH BACKWARDS. WHEN I HIT THE DITCH THE TRUCK FLIPPED ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED ON THE SCENE HE INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR TIRE BROKE OFF THE AXLE. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING AT SUCH A SLOW SPEED, NEITHER HAD THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS A HEAVY HALF TON LOAD AXLE . WHEN WE WERE LOOKING AT THE AXLE IN THE LIGHT IT APPEARED THAT IT CRYSTALLIZED AND SNAPPED. I AM A WELDER AND WORK WITH METAL EVERY DAY AND THE AXLE LOOK ALMOST LIKE CAST. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT'S ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE EARLIER THIS WEEK ON HIS FORD F-150. THE ARSON INSPECTOR INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAILURE OF HIS CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE CONTACT STATES THAT THE WEATHER WAS BRIGHT AND SUNNY ON THE DAY OF THE FAILURE.
ON 12/12/06 A LADY TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING ME TO BROADSIDE HER. I WAS DOING APPROX 40 MPH AT THE TIME. ALL HER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. NONE OF MINE DID, EVEN THOUGH THE ENTIRE IMPACT OF THE ACCIDENT WAS ACROSS MY FRONT END. ADDITIONALLY MY FUEL CUTOFF SWITCH DID NOT FUNCTION. WHEN THE VEHICLES CAME TO REST, AND I RECOLLECTED MY WITS, I REALIZED THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AND AT CLOSE TO FULL THROTTLE. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #07V336000) IN DECEMBER OF 2006. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. AS OF MARCH 17, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT WAIT TIME FOR THE PART IS EXCESSIVE. I GOT OFF WORK AT 6:00 PM AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE GYM (APPROX. 1 MI.). I LEFT THE GYM AT 7:00 PM, AND DROVE HOME (APPROX 1 MI.). I GOT HOME ABOUT 7:15 PM AND WENT INSIDE AND WATCHED TELEVISION WITH MY FAMILY UNTIL 8:30 PM, WHICH IS WHEN I WENT TO BED. MY WIFE AND I WOKE UP AT 11:30 PM FROM A BRIGHT LIGHT COMING THROUGH OUR BEDROOM WINDOW. WHEN WE LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW THE LIGHT WE HAD SEEN WAS THE WHOLE FRONT END OF MY 2000 FORD F-150 ENGULFED IN FLAMES. WE CALLED 911 AND THE FIRE DEPT. RESPONDED. MY WIFE'S CAR A 2002 HYUNDAI ACCENT WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK AND HAD THE REAR BUMPER AND TAIL LIGHTS MELTED ON IT BEFORE I COULD GET IT MOVED. ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO I HAD TO HAVE THE MASS FLOW AIR SENSOR REPLACED ON THE TRUCK AND THE DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY TOOK CARE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL THAT WAS PLACED ON THAT MODEL. *JB
2000 FLEETWOOD PACE ARROW MOTORHOME WITH FORD TRITON V10 ENGINGE: AT 32,000 BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE HEAD. FORD DEALER QUOTED ME $6,000 TO REPLACE WITH NEW/IMPROVED HEAD. I CAN REPLACE THE WHOLE ENGINE FOR LESS THAN $3,000. THIS IS INCREDIBLE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. EVEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER THAT TOWED ME TO THE DEALER SAID HIS FORD TRUCK WITH A V10 RECENTLY BLEW A PLUG AS WELL. I OWN FOUR MOTORHOMES ALL WITH THE FORD TRITON V10 ENGINE. THE COMPANY I USED TO WORK FOR HAD SIX MOTORHOMES WITH THE FORD TRITON V10 AND HAD FOUR SPARK PLUG BLOWOUT INCIDENCES WHILE I WAS WORKING THERE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. IT IS UNTHINKABLE THAT A COMPANY CAN GET AWAY WITH PEDDLING CRAP TO CUSTOMERS AND THEN CHARGING THEM $6,000 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM!!! CONTACT OSCAR AT DON KOTT FORD IN CARSON, CA TO CONFIRM MY ESTIMATE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF HER, WHICH CAUSED A MINOR PILE UP. THE PASSENGER'S HEAD WENT THROUGH THE REAR GLASS. BOTH THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SEATS WERE DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT'S HEADS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
ON OCT. 28TH 2006 AT 3:00 AM OUR FORD F-150 IGNITED AND BURNED IN OUR DRIVEWAY THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR DOING THIS VERY THING WHEN THE DEALER WAS CALLED THEY SAID OUR TRUCK WASN'T INVOLVED. FORD SAID IT WAS AND NOW SAYS IT WAS BURNED TO BADLY FOR THEM TO TELL IF IT WAS THERE FAULT. *JB
INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL FAILURES IN WET CONDITIONS. MOST SEVERE WAS WHEN WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN. LESS SEVERE, RADIO WILL STOP, ODOMETER WILL TURN BLANK, ACCESSORIES WILL REMAIN ON WITH TRUCK TURNED OFF. *NM

THE INDIVIDUAL CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED IN HIS DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. FORD STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE SINCE IT COULD NOT BE PROVEN WHERE OR HOW THE FIRE ORIGINATED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 190,000.
MY UNCLE'S F-150 2000 FORD WAS SITTING OUTSIDE MY BUSINESS FOR 1-1 1/2 HOURS WHEN A KID RODE UP ON A BIKE AND TOLD THEM THERE WAS A TRUCK OUT FRONT ON FIRE. THEY TRIED TO PUT IT OUT BUT FAILED. IT WENT UP THE FRONT WALL OF MY BUILDING AND COMPLETELY BURNED MY BUSINESS DOWN. *NM

THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED THERE WERE TWO VEHICLES THAT WERE PARKED NEXT TO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE THAT WERE TOTALED AS WELL. NEIGHBORS NOTICED SMOKE AND SPARKS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE BAY PRIOR TO THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND SUGGESTED THAT A LETTER SHOULD BE PROVIDED TO THE MANUFACTURER'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEFERMENT. THERE WERE TWO NHTSA RECALLS #05V388000 AND #05V017000 PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED A NHTSA LETTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE'S OWNER NEEDED TO PROVIDE A LETTER OF REPRESENTATION. PICTURES OF THE BURNED VEHICLE WERE AVAILABLE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THERE WAS A SMELL OF SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BURNING, FOLLOWED BY SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES NEAR THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE FIRE WAS QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH HAD BURNED. THERE WERE NO IMMEDIATE REPAIRS MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE HAD BEEN 4 RECALL NOTICES FOR NHTSA RECALL# 05V388000 SENT OUT FOR THAT VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THOSE NOTICES HAD BEEN RECEIVED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING 55 MPH OFF THE INTERSTATE ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN A FIRE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM THE UNDERBODY OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER JUST AS THE FIRE SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE TAKEN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DETERMINED THE FIRE COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN CAUSED BY THE FUEL, BUT COULD NOT FIND THE COMPONENT INVOLVED IN THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL REGARDING THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, HOWEVER THE CONTACT FOUND A POSSIBLE NHTSA RECALL # 06E056000 REGARDING THE FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE THAT RELATED MORE TO THE FIRE THAT OCCURRED ON THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CLAIMING RESPONSIBILITY NOR PROVIDED FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER, ACCOMPANIED BY A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE # 2 SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE HEAD. ONE YEAR PRIOR, THE # 7 PLUG HAD ALSO BLOWN OUT OF THE HEAD, AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEAD, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM PERSISTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED A PUDDLE OF OIL WAS NOTICED UNDER THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION SEAL RUPTURED. THE SEAL WAS REPLACED. THE REPAIR SHOP WOULD NOT JUST REPLACE THE SEAL, THEY STATED WOULD FOLLOW THE TSB'S INSTRUCTIONS AND REPLACE ALL THE NECESSARY PARTS. UPDATED 09/25/06. *JB
ON AUGUST 31 MY 2000 FORD F-150 EXPLODED IN A DRIVEWAY AFTER BEING PARKED THERE FOR APPROXIMATELY 25 MINUTES THE FIRE WAS FROM A RECALLED CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH , FORD SAYS THEY NOTIFIED ME MARCH 23, 2006 ABOUT THE SWITCH HOWEVER THEY SENT THE RECALL TO AN OLD ADDRESS. THE TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND THEY HAVE SENT ME A LETTER WHICH SAYS "FORD DECLINES TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE AT THIS TIME".*JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS, THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE CONTACT USED THE CRUISE CONTROL OCCASIONALLY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS CAUSED FROM A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED.
WOKE UP AT 3:55 A.M. AND MY 2000 FORD F150 WAS FULLY INVOLVED IN FLAMES. IT ALSO CAUGHT A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT 1999 DODGE DURANGO IN FLAMES. IT THEN PROCEEDED TO CATCH MY HOUSE ON FIRE. *NM
ON THE EVENING OF AUGUST 9 2006 WHILE WORKING IN MY GARAGE I NOTICE A BRIGHT FLICKER OF LIGHT COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE GARAGE IN THE GENERAL DIRECTION OF MY 2000 FORD F-150. I QUICKLY NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD AND MOLTEN PLASTIC WAS DRIPPING ALONG WITH FIRE THROUGH THE LEFT FRONT FENDER WELL. I IMMEDIATELY GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN OPERATED FOR A PERIOD OF ABOUT 3 HOURS PRIOR TO THE FIRE OCCURRING. IT IS ONLY BECAUSE THAT I WAS WORKING IN MY GARAGE AND NOTICED THE BEGINNING OF WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH MORE SERIOUS FIRE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A TOTAL LOSS AND MY HOME AND FAMILY WERE NOT DESTROYED OR INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AT THE DIRECTION OF MY INSURANCE CLAIMS ADJUSTER. FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSIGNING THE INSURED'S LIABILITY, THE CLAIMS ADJUSTER DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE TO BE LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESULTING IN AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE CLAIMS ADJUSTER ALSO STATED THAT THIS WAS POSSIBLY A RECALL ITEM. *NM

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED, EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, AND DETERMINED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE OR THE CRUISE CONTROL COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS TAKEN AND PICTURES OF THE BURNED VEHICLE WERE AVAILABLE. THE FIRE OCCURRED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED FUNCTIONING 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FIRE. THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE CONTACT'S OTHER VEHICLE AND RESIDENCE. UPDATED 09/05/06. *JB

I OWN A 2000 FORD F150 5.4 LITER, IT HAS BLOW 2 SPARK PLUGS, ONE AT 90,000 MILES AND NOW A 140,000 MILES IT WILL COST $3000 FOR A NEW HEAD I CAN'T AFFORD IT SO NOW I WILL MAKE A $500 MONTHLY PAYMENT TO A TRUCK LOAN THAT DOESN'T RUN. *NM
ON JULY 15, 2006 MY FORD F-150 TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE SAME PLACE FOR OVER 24 HOURS WITHOUT BEING STARTED OR DISTURBED. AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 SATURDAY EVENING THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE CHIEF STATED THAT THE POINT OF ORIGIN WAS IN THE AREA OF THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH. I CHECKED FORD'S WEBSITE AND ENTERED MY VIN NUMBER. THE TRUCK DID HAVE A RECALL BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD BUT HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE FROM THEM. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 15 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER TIRE FLIPPED SIDEWAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE FRONT END WAS REBUILT. THE EXACT COMPONENTS REPLACED WERE UNKNOWN.
WE PURCHASED A 2000 FORD F-150 PICKUP IN OCTOBER 2003. WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER IN FEBRUARY 2005 TO HAVE THE REPAIR WORK PERFORMED. WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS AN INTERIM REPAIR AND PERMANENT REPAIRS WOULD BE MADE ONCE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE MORE WIDELY AVAILABLE. ON SATURDAY, JULY 1, 2006, OUR 2000 FORD F-150 EXPLODED WHILE SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY. THE RESULTING FIRE DESTROYED THE TRUCK AND CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO OUR HOME. THE TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE IT EXPLODED. THE LOCAL FIRE CHIEF STATED THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE TRUCK'S ENGINE. PLEASE NOTE THE TRUCK EXPLODED AFTER WE HAD THE REPAIR WORK DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FORD'S RECALL NOTICE. *JB
WHILE PULLING ONTO THE FREEWAY THIS MORNING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE LEFT TIE ROD ON MY 2000 F150 CAME APART, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I WAS AFRAID FOR MY LIFE. THE VEHICLE HAD JUST 78,670 MILES ON IT AND IS USED MAINLY BY ME TO DRIVE TO WORK. ON AUG. 16, 2004, WITH JUST 55,849 MILES, I HAD TO HAVE THE RIGHT AND LEFT LOWER BALL JOINTS REPLACED, WHICH THE MECHANIC WARNED ME WERE ON THE VERGE OF TOTAL FAILURE. *NM
