I HAVE A COMPLAINT AS FORD WITH THERE SHIFTERS I HAVE ALSO SEEN IT ON SOME OLDER AND NEWER MODELS IS THE TWO BOLTS ON THE BRACKET ON THE END OF THE SHIFTER ROD ON THE STEERING COLUMN COME LOOSE AND OR MISSING BOLT AND THERE FOR HAVE SHIFTING PROBLEMS AS I DID ONE MORNING WITH MY 2000 F 150 WENT TO START THE TRUCK EARLY IN THE MORNING TRUCK WAS I THOUGHT WAS IN PARK ALL THE WAY AS I LEFT IT WENT INSIDE TO GET SOMETHING COME BACK OUT TRUCK WAS AC-CROSS THE STREET ESTIMATED 3100 DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK WITH A SIMPLE MISSING BOLT ON THE SHIFTER CAUSED THIS ISSUE AND I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN I FIXED THE PROBLEM MY SELF BUT I SURE THINK IT SHOULD BE RECALLED SO NO ONE ELSE GETS HURT OR KILLED I HAVE PICS TO PROVE THE DAMAGE I CAN EMAIL THEM IF NEEDED. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIE ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2000 FORD F-150. CONSUMER STATES WHEEL RIMS STARTED TO RUST OUT IN ONE YEAR *TGW THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE BUMPER RUSTED OUT IN ONE YEAR, AND THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE BRAKES WERE INSPECTED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE HIGH BEAMS WOULD NOT COME ON, THE PLASTIC ON THE OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR FELL OFF, THE DOME LIGHT IN THE CAB WOULDN'T COME ON, AND THE TAILGATE WOULDN'T CLOSE, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WASHER, WIPERS AND HEATING SYSTEM DID NOT WORK. THE POWER STEERING PUMP LEAKED ALL THE TIME, THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULDN'T GO INTO PARK. THE FUEL STRAP FAILED THREE YEARS AGO AND CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO FALL TO THE GROUND. *JB

2000 F250 SD 7.3 DIESEL INCIDENT DATE 2/15/2010 2/12/2010 I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER TO GET A OIL CHANGE AND A RECALL FIXED ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. THAT MORNING WHEN I STARTED IT UP, IT HAD A NOISE WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL, WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN, THEY SAID THE GASKET ON MY POWER STEERING HAD GONE BAD, AND I NEEDED A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF MY POWER STEERING PUMP. NOW IS WHEN THE REAL PROBLEM STARTS... I HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE DEALER VISIT. ALL OF THE SUDDEN WHEN I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY, ANY ROUGH ROAD SENDS IT INTO UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE TRUCK, IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I LOOKED FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY FORD SD DRIVERS, AND AS OTHERS HAVE PUT IT, FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE DEATHS OUT WAY THE RECALL COST. IT IS UP TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU, TO KEEP US SAFE, AND MAKE THESE CAR COMPANIES FIX THEIR PROBLEM VEHICLES BEFORE THERE ARE TOO MANY DEATHS. I AM SURE THERE HAS TO OF BEEN AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM, VERY POSSIBLY 1 OR MORE DEATHS, I KNOW OF ONE PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEBSITE CAUSED A 3 CAR ACCIDENT. I CALLED THE DEALER, THEY WANT TO COME TO MY HOME AND DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I SAID I WOULD HAVE IT TOWED IN, BUT THEY WANT TO DRIVE IT, WHICH MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE, SINCE I AM LIABLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY TRUCK. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY, I STARTED TO BRAKE AT AROUND 45 MPH FOR A SLOWING VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE TRUCK STARTED BUCKING AND SHAKING VIOLENTLY. LUCKILY, I MANAGED TO TURN INTO A GAS STATION THAT WAS RIGHT THERE AND STOP. I GOT OUT AND LOOKED TO SEE THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD WAS BROKEN. *TR
WHILE TURNING OFF MAJOR THOROUGH-FARE, TIE-ROD SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. TRUCK SKIDDED TO A STOP. I WAS FORTUNATE IT OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT INTO ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS THE 2ND ROD TO BREAK ON THE F-150 IN THE PAST 18 MONTHS. *TR

TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A COLLISION OCCURRED ON A BACK ROAD COVERED WITH SNOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHAFT IN THE STEERING GEAR BOX TO THE PITMAN ARM SNAPPED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND CAUSED THE CRASH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTAC DID NOT KNOW THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. NO POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. *AK
WHILE PULLING ONTO THE FREEWAY THIS MORNING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE LEFT TIE ROD ON MY 2000 F150 CAME APART, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I WAS AFRAID FOR MY LIFE. THE VEHICLE HAD JUST 78,670 MILES ON IT AND IS USED MAINLY BY ME TO DRIVE TO WORK. ON AUG. 16, 2004, WITH JUST 55,849 MILES, I HAD TO HAVE THE RIGHT AND LEFT LOWER BALL JOINTS REPLACED, WHICH THE MECHANIC WARNED ME WERE ON THE VERGE OF TOTAL FAILURE. *NM
(1) DUE TO THE PARTICULAR DESIGN FLAW OF THE " TIE END RODS" (THE TIE ENDS DO NOT HAVE A GREASE NIPPLE TO ALLOW CRITICAL LUBRICATION OF THESE PARTS!), THE PASSENGER SIDE "UPPER TIE END ROD" COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM ITS NORMAL POSITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. (2) THE VEHICLE OPERATOR WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE CLEARANCE AND WAS FORCED TO IMMEDIATELY STOP ON A TWO LANE BRIDGE AND BLOCK ONE OF THE LANES. (3) ALL OF THE "TIE ENDS RODS" WERE REPLACED WITH NEW PARTS THAT HAVE A NIPPLE FOR LUBRICATION SO THAT THE "WEAR" ITEM CAN BE MAINTAINED BY APPLYING GREASE. THE OLD PART IS AVAILABLE. *NM

BEING MECHANICALY INCLINED I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE DRIVERS SIDE TIE ROD END HAD SEPERATED. THIS SURPRISED ME IN THAT THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 60K MILES. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THAT THE TIE ROD END WAS EVEN BAD.
DT: HAD PROBLEMS IN PAST WITH TIE ROD ENDS AND WAS UNABLE TO KEEP GREASE ON THEM. CONSUMER WAS AT CHURCH AND BEGAN TO LEAVE, AND THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE. AFTER TURNING THE WHEEL FOLLOWED BY A DRAGGING-THIS WAS LATER A PIECE OF TIE ROD END. THIS OCCURRED ON THE RIGHT SIDE, AND BEFORE THE MILEAGE HAD ACCUMULATED TO 20,000 .THIS OCCURRED ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. THIS WAS REPAIRED BY CONSUMER'S HUSBAND. THIS 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND, WAS EXITING PARKING LOT ONTO STREET AND HEARD ANOTHER POPPING NOISE. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF TRUCK BUT WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT OFF THE ROAD. CALLED HUSBAND WHO WAS A MECHANIC, HE CAME AND REPAIRED VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED ON THE LEFT SIDE. THE PARTS FOR THE F150 TIE ROD ENDS WERE UNABLE TO PACK GREASE WHICH CAUSES THIS FAILURE. HAS CONTACTED FORD FOR THE FIRST INCIDENT. THE SECOND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS JUST OVER 50,000 MILES. *AK
LAST NIGHT, I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING IN MY VEHICLE. LUCKILY, THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS ABLE TO MANUVER AROUND ME, AND I JUST MISSED A UTILITY POLE. I FOUND THE INNER LEFT TIE ROD HAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED. I HAVE SERARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE, AND EVEN A PENDING CLASS-ACTION SUIT. I WILL BE REPLAING NOT ONLY THE BROKEN TIE ROD, BUT THE OTHERS AS WELL.

TOOK VEHICLE O ANOTHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT RACK AND PINION WORE OUT IN THE STEERING BOX. CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING AND HEARD A POPPING AND CRACKING.*AK
