THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUBSTANCIAL VIBRATION BETWEEN 40 AND 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERS SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON 15 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE TIRES, A RIM, 3 DRIVESHAFTS, SHIMS IN THE REAR END, A NEW TRANSMISSION AND NEW DRIVETRAIN MOUNTS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. NLM
OUTSIDE DRIVER'S DOOR HAS STRESS CRACKS LOCATED NEAREST TO WINDOW DOOR FRAME. ALSO, STRESS CRACKS HAVE BEEN THERE AS LONG AS 1 YEAR. CONSUMER HAS NOTIFIED MANUFACTURER. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 10 TO 15 MPH VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO ANY GEARS. CONSUMER TURNED TRUCK OFF AND PUT IN GEAR. THEN, CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SLOWLY AND PARK VEHICLE. ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER, STARTED VEHICLE, AND IT JUMPED FORWARD, IT WAS NOT IN GEAR, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 60 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THE DASHBOARD GAUGES AND ODOMETER WENT BLANK. I WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE TRAVEL LANE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE FORD DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO, STEVENS FORD IN MILFORD, CT CLAIMS THAT THERE IS A OPEN WIRE IN THE DASHBOARD WIRING.
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THEY FAILED. AS RESULT, THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY.*AK AFTER AN INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH ANOTHER DRIVER PULLED IN FRONT OF CONSUMER, AND CONSUMER HIT MIDDLE OF OTHER DRIVER'S TRUCK. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK
HEADRESTS ON REAR SEAT ARE NOT INSTALLED. VEHICLES BUILT AFTER DATES IN NOVEMBER 2000 WERE EQUIPPED WITH THE HEADRESTS. BACK SEAT PASSENGERS HAVE NO PROTECTION DURING A REAR END COLLISION. MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE RETROFITTED WITH THE HEADRESTS AT THE MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE.
TRANS AXLE WOULD BIND/LOCK UP WHENEVER MAKING SHARP TURNS WHILE USING 4 WHEEL DRIVE MODE.*AK
FLOOR MAT ON DRIVERSIDE IS REVERSIBLE, HAS A HOOK ON ONE SIDE. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, PRESSED DOWN HARD ON ACCELERATOR, AND PEDAL GOT STUCK WIDE OPEN ON HOOK OF FLOOR MAT. CONSUMER HAD TO TURN IGNITION OFF TO GET VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN. *AK
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE, THE EXHUST HAS BEEN BLACK. THE DEALER'S COMPUTER SAYS THAT NOTHING IS WRONG, I THINK IT IS AN EPA VIOLATION, BUT BECAUSE STATE EMISSIONS IS NOT A REQUIRED TEST IN SOUTH CAROLINA, THEY SAY THAT SINCE IT'S NOT A SAFTEY HAZARD, THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT.*AK
PASSENGER'S SEAT ASSEMBLY WILL SLIP FROM A LOCKED POSITION WITH NO NOTICE, AND GO FORWARD, BEING PUSHED INTO DASHBOARD AND WINDSHIELD. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK
MY FORD F-150 SUPERCREW 4-DOOR PICKUP TRUCK DOES NOT HAVE HEAD RESTRAINTS IN THE REAR 60/40 SPLIT BENCH SEAT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS REAR SEAT PASSENGERS WILL HIT THEIR HEADS ON THE REAR GLASS IN A CRASH. NEW TRUCKS OF THIS MODEL ARE NOW REDESIGNED AND HAVE REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS. MODELS MANUFACTURED EARLIER DO NOT. WHEN I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COMPLAIN OF THE SAFETY CONCERN OF HAVING NO REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS AND TO ASK FOR THE NEW REDESIGNED SEATS, THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE SEATS. THEY ARE IGNORING OWNERS WITH MODELS MANUFACTURED BEFORE THE NEWLY REDESIGNED REAR SEATS. FORD ALSO REDESIGNED THE FRONT SEATS TO NOW INCLUDE HEAD RESTRAINTS INSTEAD OF THE OLD DESIGN OF TALLER INTEGRATED HEAD RESTRAINTS. I BELIEVE THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN IN THAT I CANNOT ADJUST THE FRONT SEAT HEAD RESTRAINT TO PROPERLY PROTECT ME IN A CRASH. I ALSO WISH TO HAVE NEW FRONT SEAT CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS FROM THE NEWLY DESIGNED MODEL'S FRONT SEATS.
CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL FOR VAVLE STEM ON 191/2 IN RIMS, BUT FOR NO REASON VALVA STEM POPS OFF RIM WHICH CAUSES TIRE TO LOSE AIR RAPIDLY. THEN, IMMEDIATELY TIRE WII COME OFF RIM. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED, AND DEALER REPLACEDA BLOWOUT TIRE. ALSO, DEALER STATED THAT VALVE STEM WAS SAFE. BUT AFTER HAD IT CHECKED THERE WAS A ANOTHER BLOWOUT IN REAR. CONSUMER HAD 3 BLOWOUTS SINCE DEALER CHECKED VALVE STEM. WITH ALL THE BLWOUTS, VALVE STEM BLEWOUT ALSO. *AK
RIGHT REAR FENDER WAS DISTORTED, SHOWING "RIPPLES" IN FRAME, WHILE TOWING A LOAD OF 2,000 LBS. CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT DISTORTION ON FENDER WAS CAUSED BY IMPACT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE, CONSUMER CLAIMED THAT VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS. *PLEASE NOTE, CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN VEHICLE TRAVELED OVER 60 MPH, THERE WAS SEVERE VIBRATION COMING FROM VEHICLE. DEALER SAID THAT VEHICLE NEEDED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WHEN IT BRAND NEW. CONSUMER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD: 1368510881. *AK
THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A FORD EXPLORER ON THE EVENING OF FRIDAY. MARCH 23RD 2001. I WAS TRAVELLING AT 35- 40 MPH.THE COLLISION DESTROYED BOTH VEHICLES. AIRBAG ON MY FORD F150 DID NOT DEPLOY. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED (FORD) BUT WAS NOT INTERESTED IN EXAMINING THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE SRS DID NOT WORK.*AK
WHILE DRIVING WOULD STOP AT A SIGN AND RPMS WILL GO UP AND DOWN, CAUSING SUDDEN ACCELERATION. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER FOUR TIMES FOR SAME PROBLEM, BUT NO DEFECT HAD BEEN FOUND.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH CONSUMER HAD TO SWERVE TO LEFT TO AVOID HITTING A DOG, HE THEN SWERVED TO RIGHT TO GET BACK ON RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD. VEHICLE ROLLED OVER, EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE.*AK *SLC
WHEN DRIVING AND STOPPING TRANSMISSION SLIPS. IT TAKES A TWO SECONND DELAY FOR TRUCK TO MOVE. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OCCURS DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. IT WAS UNPREDICTABLE WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN, AND IT WAS A POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD. *YH
REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY FAILURE, GRINDING NOISE THAT STOPS UPON DECELERATION, FORD ISSUED TSB 05-23-3 REGARDING THIS BEHAVIOR. I OBSERVE MANY COMPLAINTS FROM THE PUBLIC VIA THE INTERNET RELATED TO SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. IT IS TOO WIDESPREAD. I HAVE NEVER LOST A REAR END TO MECHANICAL FAILURE. I AM 54 YEARS OLD. WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK, BUT WILL NOT CLEAN GLASS, CONSUMER UNABLE TO SEE IN RAIN. BEEN TO DEALER TWICE SO FAR, COULD NOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
MIRROR ON DRIVERS SIDE IS DEFECTIVE, DRIVER CANNOT SEE OUT OF THAT GLASS, THERE IS A BLIND SPOT, DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER STATED THE FACTORY INSTALLED A MIRROR THAT IS INADEQUATE FOR THE VEHICLE, CONSUMER STATED WHILE IN A LEFT LANE, A VEHICLE IN THE RIGHT LANE CAN NOT BE SEEN BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF MIRROR.*JB
LATCH ON VEHICLE IS NOT ALIGNED CORRECTLY WITH DOOR, AND DOOR LOCKS UP INCORRECTLY. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER ADJUSTED DOOR, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS.*AK
THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY AFTER I GOT IT BACK FROM DEALER. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER ON FEB 22ND. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THOTTLE BODY. ALTHOUGH, THEY WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE "FORD DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT" ACCORDING TO TOM GLANSMAN AT SAXON FORD. THIS PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, THE BRAKE FAIL TO STOP THE TRUCK WHEN IT HAS THIS PROBLEM. ONLY TURNING OFF THE ENGINE CAN STOP THE TRUCK, WHICH COMPROMISES THE BRAKE AND STEERING SYSTEMS. FORD WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK
THIS WAS 2ND TRANSMISSION FAILURE; BOTH TIMES THE TRANSMISSION FLUID SPRAYED UNDER VEHICLE & TIRES, MAKING VEHICLE SLIDE ON ROAD. BOTH TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE SHAFT WERE REPLACED; TECH STATED THE REAR SEAL HAD BLOWN.*AK
TRUCK STARTED ACCELERATING UNCONTROLLABLY TO THE POINT THAT BRAKES COULD NOT STOP VEHICLE, ONLY TURNING OFF ENGINE WOULD DO SO. THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT CAUSE BY FLOORMATS ! TO THIS POINT (2/17) DEALER HASN'T FOUND ANYTHING WRONG. THE TRUCK HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 500 MILES. THE LAST TIME TRUCK CONTINUED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHEN RESTARTED. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION, I BARELY WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE TRUCK THE LAST TIME.*AK
RPMS ARE HIGH AND VEHICLE IS CONSTANLY ACCLERATES. ON 15TH OF THIS MONTH, VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCLERATE TO POINT WHERE CONSUMER COULD NOT CONTROL VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAD TO PULL OVER, AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. THEN COULD NOT GET VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE.THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ABOUT 3 OR 4 TIMES. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP, AND DEALER HAD PROBLEM HAPPEN TO THEM. THEN, DEALER HAD TO CONTACT FORD, AND FORD DID NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE WARRENTY ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A REMEDY FOR PROBLEM YET.*AK
DRIVER'S SEATBELT BUCKLE STOPPED FASTENING. MORE THAN 4 MONTHS AFTER BEING REPORTED, DEALER IS STILL WAITING FOR REPLACEMENT PART FROM MANUFACTURER. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE CROSSED RED LIGHT AND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE STRUCK OTHER VEHICLE IN MIDDLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
TAILGATE WILL NOT STAY CLOSED, INTERMITTENTLY WOULD POP OPEN. BEEN IN DEALER SHOP ON TWO OCCASIONS; BUT, PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. *AK THE DEALER HAD INSTALLED REAR TAILGATE STRIKERS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *YH
ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL AND A NEW ONE WAS ON ORDER. IT WAS REPLACED ON 2-12-2001. ON 4-17-2001 OIL WAS LEAKING FROM SAME SPOT. DEALER SAID IT WAS COMING FROM TRANSMISSION. DEALER WAS INSPECTING THE TRANSMISSION. CONSUMER WILL ADD MORE INFORMATION IF POSSIBLE. *AK
UPON STARTING ENGINE TO WARM UP A MAJOR KNOCKING NOISE CAME FROM LIFTER/VALVE AREA AND ENGINE STARTED TO LOOSE POWER/ I STOPPED ENGINE CONTACTED DEALER SVC DEPT. AND HAD TRUCK TOWED TO WADE FORD BUFORD GA. *AK
A GOLF CART BUMPED THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS PARKED, THE VEHICLE ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 15 FEET AND CAME TO A REST AGAINST A FENCE, THE DEALER STATED THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE, HOWEVER IT DID HAPPEN, THE DEALERSHIP WAS SUPPOSED TO GET BACK WITH THE CONSUMER BUT HAVE NOT. *SLC
SPARK PLUG BLOWN OUT OF ENGINE AND STRIPPED THREADS IN ENGINE HEAD. DUE TO POOR ENGINEERING OF ORIGINAL THREAD LENGTH. SHORT THREAD LENGTH IN ALUMINUM BLOCK WILL NOT HOLD COMPRESSION PRESSURES OVER TIME. I MUST EITHER REPAIR THE HEAD OR REPLACE THE HEAD WITH NEWER DESIGN WITH THREADS OF PROPER LENGTH. HAS NOT BEEN FIXED YET. *TR

TRANSMISSION FLUID IS LEAKING, BEEN TO DEALER ONCE , WHO FOUND FLUID SO LOW IT DID NOT SHOW ON DIPSTICK. *AK
RING AND PINION GEAR WAS MAKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN DEALER'S SHOP AND HAD REPLACED RING AND PINION GEAR ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. HOWEVER, PROBLEM WAS STILL REOCCURRING. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY DID NOT NOT HAVE A CORRECTION AT THIS TIME. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS MATTER.*AK

I TOOK MY 2001 F150 TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AND I WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THE NEXT CALL I GOT WAS TO TELL ME MY TRUCK HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE DURING THE TEST DRIVE AND BURNT TO THE GROUND NEITHER AC COLLINS FORD OR FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS THEY BOTH SAY IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT BUT FORD NEVER SENT AN INSPECTOR. *AK

F-150 SUPERCAB WITH TOWING PACKAGE DELIVERED WITH FORD SPECIFIED WRONG RADIATOR. STANDARD RADIATOR IS A 1.02" WIDTH CORE. SUPER COOLING, WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE TOWING PACKAGE SPECIFIES A 1.42" CORE RADIATOR. REQUEST FORD REPLACE MY SMALLER RADIATOR WITH THE PROPERLY SPECIFIED RADIATOR.*AK
ENGINE FAILED. VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER THE COST.
ORIGINAL TIRES ON A FORD, F150, 2000. SIDEWALLS ARE TOO CLOSE TO GROUND, AND CONSUMER HAS PUNCHED 3 HOLES IN TIRES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. CONSUMER FEELS TRUCK IS TOO HEAVY FOR THE GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES. P26570R17. *AK *SLC
I ORDERED MY F-150 SUPERCREW IN AUGUST 2000. THE TRUCK WAS BUILT IN LATE SEPTEMBER AND I TOOK DELIVERY IN THE FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER 2000. ALTHOUGH MY TRUCK WAS SOLD AS A 2001 MODEL, FORD HAS SUBSEQUENTLY MADE TWO CRITICAL SAFETY MODIFICATIONS IN THE 2001 SUPERCREWS THAT WERE PRODUCED AFTER MY BUILD DATE. THE "LATEST" 2001 MODEL INCLUDES REAR SEAT HEADRESTS AND CHILD SEAT ANCHORS IN THE REAR SEATS. AS NOTED IN MY REPORT, I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING IN THE CITY AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN I WAS FORCED TO MAKE A PANIC STOP. MY WIFE, WHO WAS RIDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REAR SEAT (TWO-POINT SEAT BELT), WAS INITIALLY PUSHED FORWARD BY THE FORCE OF THE BRAKING THEN HIT HER HEAD ON THE REAR WINDOW UPON RECOIL. FORTUNATELY, SHE SUFFERED NO INJURIES. AT THE SAME TIME, MY 3 YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER (SITTING IN A PROPERLY INSTALLED, DOUBLE SHOULDER HARNESS CHILD SEAT) WAS ALSO PUSHED FORWARD AND BACK BY THE FORCE OF THE STOP. DESPITE THE FACT THAT SHE WAS WELL SECURED IN THE SEAT, THE FORWARD AND BACK MOTION WAS INTENSIFIED BY THE LACK OF A CHILD SEAT ANCHOR. IN MY OPINION, FORD'S RECOGNITION OF THESE SAFETY "DEFECTS" IS CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED IN THE MODIFICATIONS THAT WERE MADE TO TRUCKS PRODUCED AFTER NOVEMBER 2000. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS INJURY AS A RESULT OF THESE SAFETY DEFECTS, ALL 2001 SUPERCREWS PRODUCED PRIOR TO THE MODIFICATION DATE SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR RETROFITTING. *AK
TRUCK NEEDS REAR HEADRESTS. ALREADY CAUSED INJURY UPON HARD BRAKING. *AK
PURCHASED TRUCK NEW ON 11/20/00. REAR SEAT HAS NO HEAD REST, WHICH WILL CAUSE SOME SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES IN AN ACCIDENT. DID NOT REALIZE THE SEAT HAD NO HEADREST UNTIL AFTER THE PURCHASE. TALKING TO OTHER OWNERS, I HAVE LEARNED THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOW INSTALLING SEATS WITH HEADREST. IF THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, WHY WOULD FORD MOTOR COMPANY REDESIGN THE REAR SEAT AT MID YEAR.I UNDERSTAND THAT FORD IS NOT DOING ANYTHING WHEN CUSTOMERS CALL THEM, HAD I KNOWN THAT THEY WERE INSTALLING A REDESIGNED SEAT WITH HEADREST IN THE NEWER TRUCKS OFF THE ASSY. LINE, I WOULD HAVE WAITED TO MAKE MY PURCHASE.
REAR PASSENGER SEATS IN MY F150 SUPERCREW HAS NO HEAD PROTECTION FOR MY PASSENGERS. PASSENGERS HEAD ARE NOT PROTECTED DURING SUDDEN STOPS OR WRECKS. I WAS FORCED TO BREAK SUDDENLY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. MY REAR PASSENGERS HEAD SMACKED THE REAR WINDOW CAUSING ONE PERSON MINOR HEAD INJURY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW FORD IS ALLOWED TO PRODUCE SUCH A SAFETY HAZARD TO ITS PASSENGERS. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO PROVIDE REAR SEAT HEAD RESTS TO PROTECT REAR PASSENGERS IN THE EVENT OF CRASH OR SUDDEN STOP. SMALL PICKUP ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE HEAD REST WHEN THE RIDERS HEAD REST CLOSE TO THE REAR WINDOWS. THIS IS A 2001 TRUCK WITH MAJOR DEFECT THAT COULD POSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PASSENGERS.
