I OWN A 2004 F-150 CREW CAB FORD TRUCK. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 3 OF THE 4 WINDOW REGULATORS IN THIS VEHICLE. EACH ONE HAS BROKEN AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THE FORD DEALERSHIPS REPLACED THEM AT A COST OF ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR ALL THREE. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR IS THE ONLY ONE SO FAR NOT TO BREAK. CURRENTLY IT IS MAKING A GRINDING SOUND. ALL THREE HAVE BROKEN WITHIN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS. THIS IS A GREAT EXPENSE TO ME AS WELL AS A GREAT DANGER. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ONE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE AND THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR. ONE BROKE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING AND THE OTHER ONE BROKE WHILE I WAS RAISING THE WINDOW UP FROM BEING DOWN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADMITS THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL DUE TO THEIR BEING A WIDE SCALE PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW REGULATORS BREAKING. AT THE SAME TIME FORD REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE WINDOW REGULATORS AND BE FORCED TO REIMBURSE OWNERS OF THE EXPENSES FOR HAVING TO REPLACE THE WINDOW REGULATORS. ONCE AGAIN, I HAVE SPENT ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THREE WINDOW REGULATORS. AND THE LAST WINDOW APPEARS TO BE MALFUNCTIONING NOW. *TR
2004 FORD F150 BOUGHT NEW. REAR WINDOW (OVER BACK SEAT) MOTOR/REGULATOR BROKEN OVER A YEAR AGO, FORTUNATELY WITH WINDOW CLOSED. FORD SAYS THAT IT WILL COST CLOSE TO $500 TO REPLACE MOTOR. YESTERDAY, 5/21/2011, RIGHT REAR WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE. WINDOW WILL NOT STAY UP. FROM WHAT I SEE, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE YET FORD WILL NOT ADDRESS IT AS A RECALL ITEM. CAN'T THE NHTSA PUT PRESSURE ON FORD OR THE GOVERNMENT TO FORCE FORD TO FIX THESE WHEN THEY BREAK? IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE! FORD BOUGHT DEFECTIVE WINDOW MOTORS/REGULATORS AND ARE LEAVING THEIR CUSTOMERS TO CONTEND WITH THEM ALONE. WHY CAN'T THEY ADMIT TO A PROBLEM? *TR
DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILS (BROKEN PLASTIC PIECE) AND DOOR WINDOW GLASS FALLS INTO THE DOOR. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHILE DRIVING - SEE THOUSANDS OF INTERNET REPORTS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT IN THE REGULATOR THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT AND REFUSES TO RECALL. REPAIR PART AND LABOR COST APPROX $400 PER WINDOW. I HAVE HAD 2 WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL SO FAR! SUBJECT: RECALL - FORD TRUCK 2004 F- 150, RECALL #: 11S18 DEAR ADMINISTRATOR: ON MAY, 20, 2011. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD COMPANY ABOUT THE RECALL MENTIONED ABOVE. FOR THE RECORD I TRIED TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT FIXED, I CALLED TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND BOTH SAID THEY ARE WAITING ON FORD TO SEND THE PART AND THAT THEY HAVE LOTS OF PEOPLE WAITING FOR THAT PART . MY NAME AND PHONE NUMBER WAS GIVEN TO BOTH DEALERS THEY MENTIONED THAT THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN THE PART IS IN. IT'S BEEN OVER A MONTH I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET, THE REASON I AM WRITING IS TO HAVE IT ON RECORD THAT I TRIED TO FIX IT. 1-DEALER CALLED: DON DAVIS FORD, ARLINGTON, TEXAS 817-588-544 . THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE LOCAL MECHANIC WAS INSPECTING THE VEHICLE HE ADVISED HIM THAT THE REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE HUB CORRODED WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE AND BOLTS TO RUST AND BRAKE INTO PIECES. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RECALLED. THE VIN INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILES WERE 89,030.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IN RESPONSE TO THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V107000 (FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE). PRIOR TO THE REPAIRS THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE REPAIRS THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED IT COULD BE CAUSED BY A FAILURE IN THE SEAT BELT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,100.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE BUT DID NOT STATE WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE TIME EXPECTANCY FOR HAVING THE RECALL REPAIR COULD POTENTIALLY BE HAZARDOUS IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH AND IF THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE FOR OVER A MONTH AND WAS CONCERNED ABOUT HER SAFETY IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 FORD F150 LARIAT ON US 50 GOING WEST BOUND IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AROUND 5:30 IN THE EVENING DRIVING 70 MPH. I HEARD A LOUD POP (AS IF A GUN WAS BEING FIRED), WHICH STARTLED ME TO WHERE I SWERVED INTO THE LANE BESIDE ME. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER CAR RIGHT BESIDE ME OR ELSE THIS WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. I TURNED OUT TO BE SOMETHING WITHIN IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF MY DRIVERSIDE WINDOWS CONTROLS. THE WINDOW FELL DOWN AS SOON AS I HEARD THE POP. I CALLED ONE OF THE LOCAL FORD DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE ABOUT $400.00 TO FIX AND THAT THEY HAVE TO FIX THIS SORT OF PROBLEM ALL THE TIME ON THE SAME MAKES AND MODELS OF MY TRUCK. I THEN ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT. I AM NOT ABLE TO AFFORD REPAIRS AT THIS TIME, SO I AM HAVING TO JUST DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT I DO NOT HAVE A WINDOW ON THE DRIVERSIDE ANYMORE. THIS WHOLE INCIDENT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FORD SHOULD REALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE IT DOES. *TR
2004 FORD F150. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH REAR DIFFERENTIAL *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED IN 2006 THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
ALL 4 WINDOWS REGULATORS BROKE WITHIN A SPAN OF 4 MONTHS. WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE A STEEL CABLE WHICH ADHERES TO A PLASTIC PULLEY--WHO DESIGNED THIS POOR COMPATIBILITY? COMMON SENSE WILL TELL YOU THAT THIS IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO WEAR AND TEAR FOR ELECTRIC WINDOWS. VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE ACCEPT FOR THIS PROBLEM WHICH AS A CONSUMER IS UNACCEPTABLE DUE TO INFERIOR PRODUCTS USED. ALUMINUM OR ANOTHER TYPE OF METAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR THE PULLEY--DEFINITELY NOT PLASTIC. REPORTED TO FORD--CAN'T AND WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BUT TELL ME TO TAKE TO FORD DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND PAY AN OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT FOR THE LABOR AND REGULATOR. I SPOKE WITH A LOCAL FORD SERVICE MANAGER AND HE REVEALED TO ME THAT FORD KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OF THEIR VEHICLES AND ALSO THE LINCOLNS BUT BECAUSE OF THE COST INCURRED BY ISSUING A RECALL THAT THEY CHOSE TO "WASH IT UNDER THE RUG". THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE EXCUSE AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. 4 WINDOW REGULATORS IN A 4 MONTH SPAN TO BREAK--SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND BROUGHT TO FORD'S MANAGEMENT AND DESIGN DEPARTMENTS. *KB

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE PARTS NECESSARY TO REMEDY THE FAILURE WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES PRIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 150,000. SM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SECOND AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AGAIN INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 53,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL INCREASE OF ACCELERATION TO 80 MPH FOR A BRIEF MOMENT. THE VEHICLE THEN RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED WITH A RAPID INCREASE IN RPMS, FOLLOWED BY AN UNEXPECTED INCREASE IN SPEED. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIFTEEN TIMES AND WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000. ..UPDATED 04/16/12 *BF THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE WERE TIMES WHEN HE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE RACED AT HIGH RPM'S AND IT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE CHOKE IN COOL OR COLD WEATHER. ALSO IN RELATION TO INCREASED RPM'S ABOVE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PAR, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AT 5,000 RPM'S.
2004 FORD F-150 WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE 2ND IN 6 MONTHS/ BOTH REAR WINDOWS ON SUPERCREW TRUCK. *TR
I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE, HAND SLIPPED OFF OF THE KEY, THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT TURN OVER. TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE NUMEROUS TIMES. UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY, LEFT IT SIT FOR 10-15 MINS (THOUGHT IT WAS THE ANTI THEFT). LATER IN THE DAY A FRIEND LOOKED AT IT, TROUBLESHOT IT AS FUEL PUMP- USED OWNER MANUAL TO LOOK AT FUSES, EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. CONCLUDED HAD TO BE WITH THE FUEL PUMP OR SENSOR. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A GARAGE, PULLED THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR OFF, THERE WAS A GIANT WHOLE IN THE OUTER LAYER AND PLASTIC WAS CRACKED. MOISTURE FRIED THE CIRCUIT BOARD. THE PART IS CURRENTLY AT VRTC. I AM GLAD MY VEHICLE WAS AT HOME AND NOT SOMEWHERE IN A PARKING LOT OR FAR FROM HOME. NO REAL SIGNS OF THIS HAPPENING PRIOR TO NOT STARTING.
MY TRUCK HAS BEEN VIBRATING HORRIBLY WHEN AROUND 30 - 60 MPH LIKE I WAS ON A WASHBOARD ROAD. IT IS INTERMITTENT. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED MY TRUCK YET, BUT FOUND OUT IT IS MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCH AND POSSIBLY MY E-BRAKE. *TR
PASSENGER AIR BAG FOR A FORD F150. TOOK TRUCK TO GET DRIVERS AIR BAG FIXED LIGHT HAD COME ON A LONG TIME AGO, BUT FORD WANTED TO CHARGE OVER 2,000 TO GET IT FIXED. WHEN RECALL CAME PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS FIXED. WENT TO PICK UP THE TRUCK AT FORD AND LIGHT FOR PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS ON. FORD WANTS TO CHARGE OVER 2,000 TO GET IT FIXED. LIGHT CAME ON WHILE AT THEIR SHOP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT THE SPEEDS OF 45 MPH, THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT A SPARK PLUG AND COIL PACK DETACHED FROM THEIR CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN TAKEN INTO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG AND COIL PACK, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,266.
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRYING TO CLOSE THE POWER WINDOW, HE HEARD A POPPING NOISE AND THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CABLES AND THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I'M A 16 YEAR VETERAN IN LAW ENFORCEMENT. SOMETIME IN APRIL 2011, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. THE WINDOW FALLING MADE A LOUD NOISE. I COULD HEAR THE WIND AND I LOOKED BACK AND DIDN'T SEE A WINDOW IN THE DOOR. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS SOMEONE SHOT THE GLASS OUT. MY ATTENTION TO DRIVING WAS LOST FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I PULLED OVER AT THE FIRST PARKING LOT I SAW AND REALIZED THE GLASS WAS NOT BROKEN BUT HAD FALLEN INSIDE THE DOOR. TODAY 9/2/2011, I WAS REPAIRING THE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL. I THOUGHT HOW IRONIC IS THIS. I DROVE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND PURCHASED THE PART AND RETURNED HOME. I HAVE FIXED BOTH WINDOW REGULATORS, BUT I FEEL THIS COULD CAUSE A TRAFFIC CRASH. I SEARCHED THE WEB FOR THIS REPAIR AND FOUND SEVERAL FORUMS WITH PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I PARK MY TRUCK OUTSIDE AT WORK AND LEAVE THE WORK AREA SO I NEVER KNOW WHAT CONDITION MY TRUCK WILL BE IN OR IF IT WILL STILL BE THERE WHEN I RETURN AT THE END OF THE DAY. ON 25 MARCH 2011, I ENCOUNTERED A LOUD POP IN THE DOOR ON THE DRIVER-SIDE OF MY 2004 FORD F-150 REGULAR CAB TRUCK, AND THE WINDOW DISAPPEARED INTO THE DOOR FRAME. I REMOVED THE DOOR PANEL AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CABLE MECHANISM WITHIN THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FAILED. I DRIVE A 2004 FORD F-150 HERITAGE WITH ONLY 73,000 MILES THAT HAS NEVER BEEN TAKEN OFF ROAD OR TOWED ANY HEAVY WEIGHT AND HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE. HE CLAIMS THAT FORD USED CHEAP PARTS IN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEMS AS PEOPLE WHO HAVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS RARELY USE THEM. MY VEHICLE IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION SO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS A NECESSITY. I ASKED HIM IF THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH AND HE RESPONDED "ABSOLUTELY".
