AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER ABOUT SERIOUS VIBRATION PROBLEMS IN MY VEHICLE, THE DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVE SHAFT. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. OTHERS HAVE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THAT VEHICLES WHICH CONTINUE TO BE DRIVEN WITHOUT REPLACED DRIVE SHAFTS MAY BE SUBJECT DRIVE SHAFT FATIGUE AND FAILURE IN THE FUTURE. *JB
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW IN JUNE OF 2004. SINCE I'VE HAD THE TRUCK WHEN TURNING RIGHT, ESPECIALLY FROM A DEAD STOP, I GET A SEVERE VIBRATION FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN. I'VE HAD THE TRUCK IN MANY TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT GOT SO BAD FORD REPLACED THE DRIVE SHAFT AND SEEMED TO HELP FOR A WHILE. WITH ONLY 17000 ACTUAL MILES ON THE TRUCK YOU WOULD EXPECT BETTER QUALITY FOR A STICKER PRICE OF $ 42,000.00. *JB
MY 2004 FORD 150 HERITAGE PICK-UP HAS SERIOUS TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE- IT ALSO WONT GO INTO REVERSE AT TIMES- I MENTIONED THIS AT THE FORD DEAL WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK- THE TRANSMISSION STARTING BANGING INTO WHEN 1ST PUT INTO D- AND NOW HAS SEVERE SLIPPAGE IN IT- THE LIST ED INCIDENT DATE BELOW- IS WHEN I 1ST STARTED TO NOTICE ERRATIC TRANSMISSION BEHAVIOR. *TR
I OWN A 2004 FORD F150 SUPER CAB TRUCK.WHILE EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY IWAS COASTING DOWN THE RAMP AND WHEN I APPROACHED THE TRAFFIC LIGHT I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE STARTED ACCELLERATING WHEN I FIGURED OUT WHAT I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND SLID INTO THE INTERSECTION.THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMAL AFTER I GOT IT STOPPED.THE FOLLOWING DAY I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP.THEY SAID THERE WHERE NO FAULTS STORED IN THE COMPUTER AND IT TEST DROVE NORMAL COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. IT HAS THE 5.4 V/8 ENGINE
BEEN TO DEALER 4 TIMES WITH COMPLAINTS OF VIBRATION. REPLACED TIRES, DRIVE SHAFT, ROTORS & CLUTHES IN REAR END. STILL HAD VIBRATION & RETURNED TO DEALER ONY TO HEAR "WE CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM". THE VIBRATION OCCURS ABOUT EVERY 500-1000 MILES.
DT: PROBLEM OCCURED ON 5/27/05 WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER OPENING AND SHUTTING THE DOOR, THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED. NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, WHO REPORTED THAT THE GLASS WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. LA WEST IS THE MANUFACTURER AND WERE SUPPOSED TO SEND A GLASS BUT HAS NOT DONE SO YET.
THIS TRUCK HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THE DRIVE TRAIN AND THE DEALER IS NOW REFUSING TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM ANY LONGER, CLAIMING THAT IT IS A "CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TRUCK." THE PROBLEM CAN BE DESCRIBED AS A VIOLENT LURCHING OF THE WHOLE TRUCK ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD, METALLIC "CLUNK" SOUND IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. THIS OCCURS FREQUENTLY DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS BUT ESPECIALLY WHEN ACCELERATING UP A HILL, OUT OF A TURN, OR UP OUT OF A DIP IN THE ROAD. THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED IN THE TRUCK SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW IN MAY 2005. I'VE HAD THE DEALER ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AT 3,000, 6,000, 12,000, 18,000, AND AT 22,000. THEY'VE ATTEMPTED VARIOUS REPAIRS, BUT NOTHING HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. AT ONE POINT THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WRONG SIZE DRIVESHAFT WAS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. THEY REPLACED IT WITH A SHORTER ONE, BUT THIS DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I WAS JUST FACING A PROBLEM THAT WAS DIFFICULT TO SOLVE, BUT AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I KNOW NOW THAT THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS INSTRUCTED ALL DEALERSHIPS TO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT REPAIR. (THE SERVICE MANAGER ACTUALLY SHOWED ME THIS IN WRITING.) *NM
I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 F-150 VIN [XXX] IN AUG 2004. THE SAFETY ISSUE I HAVE IS THAT WE BEGAN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN AND FOR SOME REASON WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNING LEFT. IT WAS NOT A CONSTANT THING WHEN WE WERE DRIVING THE TRUCK. HOWEVER AFTER A FEW OCCASIONS OVER A COUPLE MONTHS WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER.WE TOOK IN ON FEB.1 2005. THE VEHICLE HAD 2600 MILES ON IT AT THIS TIME.THE DEALER CONCURRED WITH THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALER CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR ASSISTANCE ON HOW TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.THE DEALER DID AS THEY WERE INSTRUCTED BY FORD AND DID CHECKS AND INSPECTIONS OF SEVERAL SYSTEMS. THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD IT RESOLVED.BUT A MONTH TO SIX WEEKS LATER IT BEGAN STALLING AGAIN.ONLY A COUPLE OF TIMES AT LOW SPEED.THEN SOME TIME PASTED IT DID IT AGAIN THEN A WEEK LATER IT SHUTTERED WHILE ENTERING TRAFFIC. THEN 3 DAYS LATER IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A THREE LANE EXPRESSWAY BLOCKING TRAFFIC FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR.IN THE PAST EVERYTIME IT STALLED IT WOULD RESTART. THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT CRANK OVER BUT IT HAD A HOT BATTERY.IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD MIRCOPROCESSOR I BELIEVE. THIS WAS REPLACED ,IT DID NOT CURE THE PROBLEM.THE CURRENT MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE IS 4700 MILES. MY SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT AS MANY TIMES AS THIS VEHICLE HAS STALLED I HAVE NOT BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. BUT MY LUCK MAY RUN OUT. HAVE OTHERS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS,HAVE THERE BEEN RECALLS IN THIS PROBLEM OR SERVICE BULLETINS. THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT ABOUT MY 2004 FORD CREW CAB, I NOW HAVE HAD ALL FOUR OF MY WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL ON MY TRUCK. EACH TIME $350.00 DOLLARS. COMING HOME FROM A TRIP WITH 2 CO-WORKERS A BACK WINDOW FELL IN MY TRUCK AND I HAD TO DROP OFF MY CO-WORKERS AND DRIVE HOME BY MYSELF AT MIDNIGHT. THIS WAS VERY SCARY FOR ALL OF US. WHEN IS FORD GOING TO PUT THE SAFETY OF HUMANS ABOVE MONEY AND RECALL THIS DEFECT. I NOW BELIEVE THAT MY DRIVERS WINDOW IS FIXING TO DROP AGAIN AND WHO HAS THE MONEY TO KEEP FIXING WINDOWS WITH THE ECONOMY IN FAILURE. MAYBE I CAN GET A BAILOUT TO FIX MY WINDOW OR BETTER YET BUY MYSELF A NEW CHEVY PICKUP. *TR
ALL FOUR WINDOWS ON MY 2004, F150, FORD TRUCK HAVE FALLEN INTO THE DOOR BECAUSE OF DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATORS. THE WINDOW FALLS INTO THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING AND THE COST OF REPLACEMENT IS $4-$500. *TR
MY 2004 FORD F150 VIBRATES. THE DEALER HAS MAD E FOUR ATTEMPTS AT REPAIRS WITH NO SUCCESS. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY START TO VIBRATE SEVERELY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VIBRATIONS IS TO SLOW DOWN TO 20 TO 25 MPH. SLOWING DOWN THIS MUCH ON THE FREEWAY IS UNSAFE IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THIS SEVERE VIBRATION STARTS, IT'S AS IF SOMETHING IS ABOUT TO FAIL IN THE DRIVELINE. AS IT IS NOW, I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THIS VEHICLE, AND AM RELUCTANT TO DRIVE IT. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 7-10-04, AND NOW HAS 6770 MILES.*AK
THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE WHEEL SHIMMY'S WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES AND IT GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I HAVE TO TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP AGAIN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT - THE FIRST TIME THEY GROUND THE ROTORS - NOW I WILL WANT THEM TO REPLACE THE PADS AND BRAKE ROTORS. IT IS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE AROUND A CORNER WHEN YOU MUST APPLY THE BRAKES.*AK
THE FRONT STEERING ON MY 2004 FORD F-150 TRUCK WILL START TO WOBBLE AFTER SLOWING DOWN FROM HIGHWAY TRAVEL. IT ACTS LIKE THE WHEELS ARE OUT OF BALANCE. HOWEVER, I JUST HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED BECAUSE OF THIS, BUT IT DID NOT HELP. THE VEHICLE HAS 23,000 MILES. ANOTHER PERSON I KNOW IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH HIS 2004 FORD F-150 WITH 17,000 MILES. *JB
DT: WITHOUT WARNING, CARBON MONOXIDE SMELLED IN VEHICLE AND WATER LEEKING FROM EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE SMELL HAPPENED MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THE WINDOWS WERE CLOSED AND WHEN IT WAS RAINING . BUT IT SMELLEDALSO WHEN IT WAS DRY. DEALER STATED THEY COULDN'T HELP HELP BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REDESIGN THE SYSTEM. MANUFACTURER STATED THEY COULDN'T HELP CALLER. *AK
I RENTED A FORD F-150 TRUCK ON APRIL 14, 2005. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED OUT OF CONTROL. THE RPMS WENT FROM IDLE SPEED TO 3000 RPMS. ALL WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE TRUCK STARTED TO LURCH FORWARD UNTIL I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD. I QUICKLY PUT THE TRUCK BACK INTO PARK, THEN PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED. *AK
WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE'S FORD HITCH BROKE ON BOTH SIDES. *NM THE TRAILER WAS TAKEN TO A WELDING SHOP WERE THEY SAID THERE WASN'T ANY PENETRATION ON THE WELD, WHICH WAS WELDED PART WAY AND TO TAKE THE OLD RECEIVER TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CONSUMER THEN TOOK THE RECEIVER TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY CLAIMED THE TRAILER WHICH WEIGHT IS 2500 LBS WAS TOO BIG, HAD CAUSED THE FAILURE. 2500 LBS, IS LESS THEN WHAT FORD GUARANTEE THERE TRUCKS WILL PULL. 2004 FORD F150 PROBLEMS WITH UPPER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY AS WELL AS TIRE WEAR.*MR THE UPPER JOINT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE TIRE WEAR ON ONE TIRE. THE CONSUMER STATED SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IT EXHIBITED A RATTLE NOISE, THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS VIBRATING SO BADLY, THE HOOD HAD TO BE REINFORCED SO IT WOULD NOT FLUTTER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. *JB
THE ENTIRE TRUCK WILL VIBRATE AT ANY SPEED WITH CAUSE UNKNOWN. THE AREA DEALERSHIP EXAMINED THE TRUCK BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A CAUSE. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP THE OWNER WAS MADE AWARE OF TWO SIMILAR F150 PICKUPS WITH THE SAME INTERMITTENT VIBRATION. PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS. *NM

REAR END SHUDDERS OR SLIPS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP AND TURNING...THERE IS ALSO A WHINING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR END...FROM READING NHSTA COMPLAINTS THIS SEEMS TO BE QUITE A LARGE PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK...SEEMS LIKE FORD WOULD STEP UP AND FIX WHATEVER IT IS....WORST TRUCK I EVER BOUGHT
ACCELERATOR PEDAL...ADJUSTABLE PEDAL LEVELS SEEM TO MOVE CAUSING DRIVER TO STEP ON ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF BRAKE PEDAL...HAPPENS OFTEN...VERY DANGEROUS
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THREE INSTANCES OF SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION. ONE TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE CONSUMER WAS BACKING THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE. CONSUMER TURNED THE KEY OFF.*AK VEHICLE HAD A 4TH ACCELERATION EPISODE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE CONSUMER SAW THE ACCELERATION ON THE TACHOMETER. *BF *NM
POOR PAINT FROM FACTORY, RUNS IN CLEAR COAT. THEY ONLY WANTED TO REPAINT IT AND THE SHOP THEY WANTD TO USE WAS NOT EVEN A FORD SHOP. 2004 F-150. JOPLIN FORD LINCOLN MERCURY WAS THE DEALER.
MY 2004 F 150 SHAKES / VIBRATES SO BAD IT LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE 5 CARS FOLLOWING ME (WHEN THERE IS ONLY ONE) IN MY REVIEW MIRROR. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN BALANCED @ 3100 MILES. TIRES REPLACED @ 3300 MILES.VIBRATION DAMPER@ 3200 MILES. NOW THEY WANT TO PUT A SPLIT DRIVE SHAFT ON IT. HOW AM I GOING TO REPLACE THESE NON STANDARD PARTS 3 YEARS FROM NOW? BOUGHT MY 2004 F 150 2WD FROM DEALER IN OK. 5800MI HAVE A VIBRATION @ 38-42MPH AND 58-62MPH. HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES IN WHICH THEY HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVESHAFT, RECLOCKED THE DRIVESHAFT ON SECOND VISIT, REBALANCES AND ROTATED THE TIRES BUT STILL HAVE THE PEROBLEM IN WHICH THEY MENTIONED WILL BE ACCEPTABLE. IT ISN'T NORMAL.*AK
ON A FORD F-150 SUPER CAB PICKUP, THE PROBLEM IS THIS.. IT STARTED WITH ME DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICING THAT THERE WAS A WINDY NOISE. MUCH LIKE A WINDOW WAS PARTIALLY LOWERED. WHAT I FINALLY DISCOVERED, WAS THAT THE REAR DOOR WAS NOT COMPLETELY LATCHED IN THE FULL LOCKED POSITION. WHEN I CLOSED THE DRIVER DOOR, IT FULLY ENGAGED THE REAR DOOR AND CLEARED THE DISPLAY LIGHT ON THE DASH OF AN OPEN-DOOR INDICATION, WAS NON-THE-LESS PARTIALLY OPEN. I HAVE SHOWN MY DEALER THAT I CAN DO THIS, BY JUST SHUTTING THE REAR DOOR AS OPPOSED TO BASICALLY SLAMMING IT CLOSED. THEN WHEN THE FRONT DOOR IS CLOSED, THE OPEN-DOOR LIGHT GOES OUT. INCIDENTALLY, THIS SAME CASE IS TRUE FOR THE PASSENGER DOOR SIDE. I HAVE COME TO MAKE A SPECIAL CHECK THROUGH THE MIRRORS, TO SEE IF THERE IS A STRAIGHT LINE ALONG THE DOOR FRAME RIGHT AT THE BASE OF THE WINDOW. THIS TELLS ME WHETHER THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. AND I HAVE FOUND THIS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE WAS EXTREMELY LOUD AND MADE A TICKING NOISE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE CAM PHASERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
2004 FORD F150 HAS TIRE NIBBLE BETWEEN 50 AND 57 MPH AND VIBRATION AT 45 MPH. SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED 3 RIMS AND 3 TIRES (CONTRACK). STILL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I PLACED THE SPARE TIRE ON PASSENGER FRONT DUE TO A FLAT AND IT REDUCED THE NIBBLE AND VIBRATION BY HALF. I PURCHASED 4 NEW 20 INCH COOPER TIRES AND 4 NEW RIMS AND VIBRATION IS 95% GONE AND SLIGHT NIBBLE AFTER 10,000 MILES. I WILL HAVE TIRES REBALANCED AND ALIGNMENT CHECKED AND PLAN THE HAVE REAR LOWERED BY 2 INCHES. A FRIEND HAD THE REAR LOWERED BY 2 INCHES ON HIS 2004 F150 AND HELPED WITH STABILITY AND VIBRATION. *NM
INTERMITTENTLY VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHILE MAKING TURNS, SLOWING DOWNS OR COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER, AND DEALER RESET THE COMPUTER. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
3.37 REAR AXLE ISSUES. SHUDDER AT LOW SPEED TURNS / BINDING OF LMTD SLP DISKS. ORDER AND INST SPACER. "CORRECTED" BARELY NOTICEABLE SHUDDER BUT AT ABOUT 800 MILES, "WHINE" REAPPEARED. WHINE BECAME LOUDER OVER TIME. DEALER INSPECTED THE INSIDE GEAR AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. MANUFACTURER OUT OF STOCK. 1 MONTH ON ORDER, NEW GEAR AND PINION ARRIVED. DEALER INST. AT 800 TO 1000 MILES "WHINE" REAPPEARS. DEALER AGAIN INSPECTS AND ORDERS 2ND GEAR AND PINION. REP MADE WITHIN A WEEK OF DIAG IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A LOW SPEED "RUMMING" NOISE. RETURNED TO DEALER. FORD FIELD SERVICE TECH RELENTED TO REPLACING THE ENTIRE REAR AXLE WHICH IS NOW ON ORDER. THIS DIAGNOSTIC WAS THE 7TH IN SHOP VISIT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
DT: HAD TO PUT 4 SETS OF BRAKES ON VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. THE ROTORS WERE GETTING GROOVED SO BADLY THAT VEHICLE PULLS OFF THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER TALKED TO FORD, AND THEY IGNORED HIM. HE TRAVELED AND SAW THIS PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OTHER FORD CARS. FORD TOLD HIM IT WAS COSMETIC. *AK WHILE ON THE FIRST TRIP WITH THIS VEHICLE, THE REAR END HAD GONE OUT, THE CLUTCH PACK WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED, THE FOG LAMPS WERE HOLDING MOISTURE AND WERE REPLACED, THE BRAKES WOULD PULSATE AND PULL FROM ONE SIDE, THE SHIFTING WAS HARSH WHEN CHANGING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, A LOUD CLUNK WOULD BE PRESENT AT TIMES WHEN STARTING FROM STOP THEN DECELERATING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK BUT WOULD NOT START AT TIMES. I BOUGHT A 2004 FORD F150 IN APRIL 2004. SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST 10 MONTHS, I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM FIX TWO PROBLEMS. THE FIRST PROBLEM IS REGARDING MY BRAKES. THEY CONTINUALLY SQUEAK AND SOMETIMES FEEL SLUGGISH. I HAD A JIFFY LUBE REPRESENTATIVES INSPECT MY BRAKES AND THEY SAID THE ROTORS LOOKED SCARRED. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID MY BRAKES WERE WITHIN FORD SPECIFICATIONS, AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. THE SECOND PROBLEM REVOLVES AROUND A TRANSMISSION THAT SKIPS IN AN OUT OF GEAR. IN SEVERAL POINST, WHILE PULLING ON TO HIGHWAYS, THE TRANSMISSION SKIPS AND AND DELIVERS TOO MUCH POWER TO THE REAR WHEELS, CAUSING THE TIRES TO SLIP ON WET PAVEMENT. LUCKILY, NEITHER OF THESE INCIDENTS HAS CAUSED ANY ACCIDENTS. HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED AS THEY HAPPEN FREQUENTLY AND THE DEALER STATES THAT THE CONDITIONS ARE NORMAL. I HAVE RESEARCHED THESE PROBLEMS AND FOUND THAT MANY 2004 F150 SUPER CREW OWNERS EXPERIENCE SIMILAR PROBLEMS.*AK
2004 FORD F-150 PICKUP TRUCK STALLS WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP. THE TRUCK HAS DONE THIS OVER 20 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS.*AK
2004 F150 SUPERCREW, ENGINE STALLS WHILE COMING TO A STOP, BRAKING AND SLOW TURNS. HIS HAS HAPPENED 30 TO FORTY TIMES SINCE THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW OCT 2003. AD IT SERVICE FOR THE PROBLEM IN 2004, SEEMED TO FIX IT, BUT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. HAD IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 2 MORE TIMES WITH NO FIX YET. WHEN THE ENGINE DIES YOU LOSE BRAKES STEERING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC.*AK
WHILE DRIVING TO SLOW DOWN FOR A STOP THE VEHICLE CUTS OFF. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A CONSTANT PROBLEM BUT ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN EVERY ONCE AND AWHILE. IT IS HARD TO STEER ONCE THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF AND HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN SOME NEAR ACCIDENTAL COLLISIONS. WHEN I CONTACTED A DEALER ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND THEY SET ME UP WITH THE MALOY FORD SERVICE CENTER WITH AN APPOINTMENT FOR MARCH 21 2005 BUT THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN ASKED TO BRING IT IN EARLIER THEY REFUSED AND SAID I CAN PARK IT AND LEAVE IT AND THEY WOULD GET TO IT MONDAY. THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE A MODE OF TRANSPORTATION. I HAVE TO DRIVE 40 MILES A DAY BACK AND FORTH TO WORK SO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM TILL THEN.*AK
THE TIRES ARE WEARING UNEVEN ON THE FRONT TREADS. CONSUMER STATED THAT HE CHECKED THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK FOR THE WEIGHT REQUIRED FOR TIRES AND THEY DID NOT MATCH. MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, NO RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON THE TIRE REPLACEMENT.*AK
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE HOME AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. NO INJURIES REPORTED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK

I HAVE A NEW FORD F150 SUPER CREW THAT HAS HAD THREE SETS OF ROTORS , STABILIZER BARS, TIRES, BRAKES, BRAKE CLUSTER, ETC. I NOW HAVE 18,000 MILES ON THIS TRUCK AND IT IS NEEDING ANOTHER SET OF ROTORS NOW. IT IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND WE HAVE CHILDREN AND ARE AFRAID TO TAKE THEM ANY WHERE IN THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE ROAD AT 10 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DRIVER NOTICED BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE, BLOCKING HIS VIEW FROM THE ROAD. THE OWNER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE , AND WITNESSED IT BURNING UP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY CONSUMER. *AK *SC
THE 2004 F150 AND I ASSUME EXPEDITIONS HAD UNDERSIZED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND CALIPERS AND WERE OUTLINED IN A SERVICE TECH BULLETIN FOR THE PURPOSE OF DIAGNOSING THE FRONT END SHAKING/SHIMMING DURING BRAKING. *TR THIS IS MY OPINION SHOULD HAVE FALLEN UNDER A MANDATORY RECALL DUE TO THE SERIOUS NATURE OF POOR ENGINEERING. NO RECALL AND OUT OF POCKET $$$. THE SAME HOLDS TRUE FOR THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WHICH IN MY CASE HAS BEEN REPLACED (3) TIMES AND AGAIN FORD PUBLISHED A TECH BULLETIN OUTLINING THE FACT THAT THE '04 REAR DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING WAS SUBJECT TO FAULTY MACHINING CAUSING RAPID WEAR ON RING/PINION AND BEARINGS. I BELIEVE THESE TWO DEFECTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED DUE TO THE FACT THAT FAILURE OF EITHER COMPONENT COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. I TRULY BELIEVE FORD TRIED TO COVER UP/WHITE WASH THESE DEFECTS. I STILL HAVE THIS '04 AND STILL HAVE ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL NOT TO MENTION A HOST OF OTHER ISSUES THAT HAVE PLAGUED THIS PARTICULAR YEAR MODEL. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM SOMEONE AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE EXTENT OF FORDS INVOLVEMENT AND ANY ACCIDENTS INVOLVING '04F150'S. BEST REGADRS
15 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE, IT WAS IN TO HAVE THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY REPLACED. ONE YEAR LATER, IT HAD THE REAR DIFF FRICTION PLATES WERE REPLACED. 2 MONTHS LATER (RIGHT NOW) THE REAR END SEALS ARE LEAKING. *AK
FIRE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF FORD F-150. OWNER WAS ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE SNOW WHERE HE GOT STUCK. WHILE DOING SO, THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT FIRE. FIRE FIRST SEE FROM THE DRIVER SIDE COWL. HEAVY FIRE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE COMPT.
VIBRATION PROBLEM STARTED AT 26K. HAD VEHICLE INTO DEALER 5 TIMES. ROAD FORCE BALANCE DIDN'T RESOLVE PROBLEM. TOLD I NEEDED NEW TIRES WHICH I BOUGHT AT 30K, BUT DIDN'T TOTALLY ELIMINATE VIBRATION. FORD CORP. NOR SEVERAL DEALERS ARE INTERESTED IN RESOLVING. NEXT STEP LEMON LAW ARBITRATION. *NM
DRIVER EXPERIENCED VIBRATION COMING FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE DRIVING OVER 25 MPH. THIS CAUSED NUMBNESS TO THE DRIVER'S FOOT. DRIVER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, BUT NO SOLUTION AT THIS TIME. *AK
